2023.03.31 17:49 sharkgrrl2018 Got scammed on Instagram
I was shown an instagram ad showing that you can earn money from minimal investments. I looked at the profile Linda.S.Ryan and she looked like a typical mom. Posting photos of her family and her toddler daughter. She had loads of testimonials from whatsapp and instagram chats.
All the chats said they initially thought it was a scam and were so pleasantly surprised it wasn't. Stuff about having stable income and quitting their 9-5s. When I messaged her about it she explained it's sports betting. Where they have "insiders" who know the results of a game before it happen.
So I told myself that hey she looks like a mom and her reviews seem legit, I'll do the minimal amount. I was told to sign up for an account on a sports betting website, and deposit between $140-200 CAD. I should've realized something was up when I couldn't fund it using my credit cards. Only interac e-transfer worked.
She said now to wait for the funds to appear after the match was over. It was a tennis match. When I checked my account next day bet I made showed lost. I contacted her and she said it was a mistake by the insiders and that I would get a refund in a couple of days.
Then a couple of days went by and I asked what's going on, and she deleted her account..... I should've known better, but just letting you guys know what happened to me so it doesn't get you.

Okay so I called USD because I’ve been UR since 10/26. Basically what they told me is that they will send my information to the deans for a “prompt review” and I will get a decision in the next 2-5 business days. They said they do this for people who applied early in the cycle and still have not received a decision.
If you’ve been UR since before Christmas, I’d call if I were you lol. Just wanted to updated everyone about this since I know people are waiting to hear from this school and the seat deposit is coming up.

2023.03.31 17:45 _NateR_ PSA: If you're catching fish off beds, put them back in the water ASAP!
Do you like having lots of bass to catch? Me too. So please keep in mind that every second you keep a fish off their bed is a second that a hungry bluegill or other predator can swoop in a swallow up eggs.
When fish are guarding beds, they are not really eating. Therefore, they're getting weaker by the minute. Yeeting them onto the bank, sticking scales in their gills, and taking 5 mins to snap a bunch of pics sure isn't going to help them any.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

2023.03.31 17:44 WdfEU US Windfall managing advice for an EU citizen
Hello everyone! So I am about to inherit an estate, which is a little over 1M$, of a relative who lived in the US. I am a University student in the EU and I have no relation with the US, I have only visited from time to time. Financially, I grew up in a poor EU country, learned how to make a living, immigrated to a wealthy EU country, became relatively financially comfortable, invested in my future (currently a grad student) and, according to my future career options, money wouldn't ever be a big problem anymore for me and my family (still, I wouldn't consider myself wealthy or super comfortable). The loss of my relative hit me very hard since it was a person who I valued highly in my family, but of course, I am grateful for the sudden windfall, with which me and the rest of my family can enjoy some financial security for even our whole lives if I manage everything right.
I am currently thinking of keeping the money I inherit in the US, because (despite recent developments) I believe that the US banking system is more stable, safe and secure than that of my home country, and of course, I would like to try to avoid being taxed extra or lose any tax deductions because of this large amount of money in my bank account. My question is, is this a good idea, and which bank would be ideal for this? I had a bank account in a big US bank which I had opened using a relative's address and used it to buy electronics from online US stores which only accepted US bank cards for payment. But this account has been closed due to inactivity for quite some time and if I want to open a new one, I need to travel to the US which I would like to avoid before getting my hands on the inheritance. Additionally, the setup felt a little sketchy, since I was using an address that wasn't mine and there was one point where they asked me for my SSN (or a TIN, since I am not a US citizen or resident). The thing is, when I opened the bank account they assured me that they didn't need an SSN/TIN but it seems that the platform asks for it automatically.
While searching for this, I came across US banks (or bank-like institutions) like Wise, which have the ability to open US bank accounts with no need for physical presence in the US. I am thinking of using one such solution for the distribution phase of the inheritance and then travelling to the US to open a couple or more bank accounts, in banks that need a physical presence, and spread the amount among them. However, I have read mixed reviews and experiences from such banks, stories of accounts freezing for long periods of time etc.
As a sidenote, I made a new account to post this question for privacy reasons.
Thank you guys in advance for the response.
tl;dr should I open a bank account from a bank-like institution (like Wise) for the initial receipt of my inheritance or not risk it and either travel to the US and open a bank account or receive the money in the EU.

2023.03.31 17:43 OkRazzmatazz7121 AKG K702 Review: WIIIDE
Full article here:
https://jamesfiorucci.wordpress.com/2023/03/31/simple-audio-review-akg-k702/ I have a set of speakers at home. A lovely pair of Edifier R2000DB’s either side of my television.
Unfortunately they barely ever get used. I’m afraid to turn them up to a decent volume, out of fear of disturbing the neighbours. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to afford a sound-treated room and blast my favourite music with no repercussions.
For now I’m stuck with headphones. Sounds like I’m complaining, but I’m not. One of the advantages of headphones is their sheer variety. There’s so many different types and they all sound so different. It’s exciting.
Are there any headphones out there that can replicate the spacious, enveloping sound of a fine pair of speakers? Not really, but the AKG K702 comes pretty darn close. Let’s take a look at them, and find out if they are the right cans for you.
Comfort and Build
These AKGs are the kind of headphones that are built cheaply, but will probably never break. Let me explain.
The build is all plastic; not an ounce of metal in sight save for a button holding the comfort strap to the headband. I’m pretty sure the comfort strap is fake leather, which means it is also plastic.
There are no failure points where the AKGs could potentially break, even when dropped from a considerable height. This makes for a sturdy overall build.
The choice of an all-plastic design means the K702 only weighs in at 235 grams, enabling the headphones to simply disappear on your head. The lack of padding on the strap as well as the somewhat stiff pads don’t cause any issues in regards to comfort.
Sound
While these headphones won’t win any marks in the style department, it shouldn’t bother you from the moment you start using them. Not only can you not see them on your head, you’ll soon forget their looks as soon as you start listening to some tracks.
Bass
I think my small head could be adversely impacting my thoughts on the AKG K702 when it comes to bass.
The cups are huge on these headphones, which results in the rear portion of the pads extending beyond my head. There’s maybe a one centimetre gap, which could very well be affecting the seal.
Without a proper seal, bass extension is going to be compromised. And in fact, the K702 doesn’t extend into the lower bass at all for me. Of course, this should be expected for a budget open-back headphone but I fear my experience may be even worse than it should be for the majority of listeners. But from my testing alone, I cannot give more than a passable mark for bass for these cans.
Midrange
Midrange is definitely a highlight for the AKG K702. Compared to the rest of the frequency response the mids take centre stage, particularly in the upper ranges.
Female vocals are striking (some would say a touch aggressive), and the rest of the mids have a commendable ability to be either intimate or phased out depending on what the specific song calls for.
The timbre of both instruments and vocals is excellent. While not on the level of the legendary Sennheiser HD600 or 650, everything sounds pretty natural to my ears. You can really ‘feel’ the texture of the guitar strings, and the vibrations of the microphone. Probably speaking out of my ass here, but hopefully you kind of get what I’m saying.
Treble
I love the treble on the AKG K702. It’s not overly piercing like it is on, say, the Beyerdynamic range of headphones, but it isn’t overly subdued like on the Koss Porta Pros I reviewed before. For a treble-sensitive person like myself, the presentation of the higher frequencies is brilliant (pun intended).
For all you graph people out there, the frequency response above 9kHz is a little jagged. But unless you are really listening out for it on a particular song, you won’t notice.
Cymbals, hi-hats and high-pitched synth notes have wonderful sparkle and a hearty impact. No complaints in this department.
Imaging and Soundstage
This is where the AKGs really impress. If you want HD800S levels of soundstage and width for a fraction of the cost, the K702 is the only real option. There are other AKGs with a similarly wide soundstage, but the K702 most closely resembles the HD800S’ sound signature.
I’ve done a double take way too many times when listening to binaural recordings on these cans. Sound seems to come from so far out beyond by head that I swear the artist is playing the song in my kitchen as I’m sat in the living room. That’s how wide it really sounds.
Imaging is good, but not on the same levels of insanity as the soundstage. I find my Denon AH-D5200 to be superior in imaging, as it can play sounds both below and above my ears. I find the K702 only goes out laterally, but struggles in the vertical areas of the image.
Detail
Thanks to present treble response and an open, spacious overall sound, the perception of detail is something that these headphones excel at.
The only minor gripe will be that you may miss out on bass-heavy tracks due to the significant roll-off in the lower frequencies.
Overall Verdict
The AKG K702 is a real party piece when it comes to its outrageously large soundstage. But it’s not a one-trick pony; excellent mids and treble response means you can look past it’s lack of bass, as long as you’re not a rap or hip-hop aficionado.

2023.03.31 17:43 MrPerfector Instead of three dragons, Daenerys Targaryen gets a different weapon entirely... the Death Note. How does the story change, and how well does she do?
Instead of three dragon eggs, Illyrio gives her something else for her wedding... a strange black notebook. She disregards it at first, but realizes its potential and power after the pyre. She touches the notebook and meets Ryuk for the first time, whos' interested in seeing where this young burgeoning queen may go.
With this new power and ally, can she still accomplish her goals, raising up and army and successfully invade and take over all of Westeros?
((Also, maybe for this scenario the Death Note only works for her specifically, like maybe the Death Note only works her specifically so that she doesn't probably immediately lose the moment someone would inevitably steals the Death Note from her, like how just taking and locking up her dragons doesn't give someone immediate control over them. Like, maybe the Death Note only works when the name and type of death is written in her own blood or something. I'll leave it up to you to keep this condition or not)).

2023.03.31 17:41 Environmental-Wish53 Dino Dommies (or Mommies): Chapter 8
Not as long of a delay between chapters, but vehicle stuff added unnecessary stress and took priority this past week. With that dealt with (for now) I present to you time travel fuckery and shenanigans with a poor explanation because
fuck that I didn't have time to dive deep into the theories.
Take it for what it is, but if you have some cool knowledge to add in the comments, do it. I like reading about that stuff when I have time to wrap my mind around such quantum bullshittery.

“And that, my friends, is where our story begins.” A cheery baritone voice straight out of old timey radio suddenly doused the room with American nostalgia.
Materializing on the table between us all was a young man, maybe in his late 20s, dressed in charcoal colored 20th century garb and looking sharp. His smile matched the look, as well as the short and well-groomed hair adorning the top of his head. Tucked between his right arm and side was a similarly colored sport coat with a folded paper on top.
“It’s a pleasure to see you again, Mr. Williams,” Mother AI greeted the dapper looking man.
“The pleasure’s all mine,” he answered kindly before turning and “walking” towards me.
“Pleased to meet you as well, Mr. Cranson. Your discovery led to a great many things, including my ‘birth’, if you will. I guess you’re something of a father to all of us really.” The image held out its hand.
Confused, I extended my hand as well and watched as he shook the tip of my pointer finger. Satisfied with our introductions out of the way, his image disappeared and his radio age voice once again filled the room.
“Phew. Been a long time since I took a human form. Really takes me back, you know?”
A polite “ahem” from Oil Baron AI reminded our narrator that this wasn’t a social call.
“Right. Well then, as you all saw recently, the disappearance of our esteemed guest caused quite a stir in the scientific community. The research and findings he released upon his foray into the time stream caused mass pandemonium.”
The screen in front of us started to display multiple different articles and research papers, as well as forums composed of once highly recognized and esteemed peers of mine.
There were a lot of angry contorted faces and points and stares levied at virtually everyone in each of those scenes. Even the brief parts of the peer-reviewed papers held an undertone of contempt and vitriol.
“Needless to say, not all was chaos. A few brave men and women were willing to throw everything away and consider the possibility that you, Mr. Cranson, achieved the impossible.”
Another sped up recording of a handful of scientists recreating my chair using modern materials played Mr. Williams talked over the video.
“Right here is where your discovery and research gained some credibility.” We watched as the recording was slowed to normal speed while one of the scientists strapped himself in, manipulated some buttons and knobs, and disappeared before our very eyes.
You could see the look of awe on the faces of the other team members as they witnessed my research proven possible at minimum. Feasible at best. There was a flurry of motion when their momentary lapse of attention ended, and they started to document and record any readings from the experiment.
“We don’t know how far forward you were intending to go in your experiment, but this one was painstakingly restricted to a simple 10-minute journey. The time each of these scientists spent ensuring that outcome led to many sleepless nights. Why, even mental health professionals were called in to keep their sanity intact!”
I couldn’t tell if he was exaggerating or not, but as I counted down the time from when the “official” second time travel experiment started I couldn’t help but feel the same excitement he was exuding. Not ten minutes after the scientist “disappeared” he reappeared in the same exact spot looking like nothing happened.
If the flurry of activity from before was disorderly, then this was outright diabolical. There were hugs and cheers and papers flying everywhere. You could see almost
feel the elation at proving my research right.
“After this, they performed the same experiment a dozen more times. Starting at five-minute increments with a thirty-minute trip for the final attempt. Each one was a success, and the amount of data gathered each time proved monumental to the furtherance of your Time Travel Theory!”
“But…” the Oil Baron AI interrupted.
There was a lengthy pause before Mr. Williams spoke. “But, with every success there was a cost. The price to pay for running roughshod over a fundamental reality.”
The film skipped to that same scientist who bore the “cost” of each experiment aging rapidly. It was horrifying to watch his hair turn white and his skin grow loose as if you time lapsed a human’s lifetime into an hour segment.
“Give…and take.” Our narrator said solemnly. “It takes a certain type of energy to break or bend the laws of reality, and the energy taken must be returned to maintain the balance. In this case, he took from time, so time is taken from you.”
A horrifying realization settled in: I should be dust right now. If this man traveled a collective total of an hour-and-a-half minimum, and aged this fast, then why am I still alive? Why didn’t I go “poof” the instant I returned to the timeline?
“You are an exception, Mr. Cranson,” He spoke as if reading my mind, “Your journey here was caused by a catastrophic failure in your power source. The amount of energy that violently ejected itself from that failure forcibly ‘shoved’ you into an alternate parallel timeline and, this is conjecture, your original reality ‘took’ from your new reality to replace what was used.”
“…what? I just…shifted realities due to a power failure? Simple as that?” I asked incredulously. “Then…then how do you know of me if this reality isn’t my own?”
“Now that, my boy, is the
right question! You see,
you are the origin point of all this kerfuffle in the time continuum. No matter what timeline a person finds themselves in, they all lead back to you being the one who started it all. You are, for all intents and purposes, time travel’s ‘
Big Bang’!”
“That still doesn’t make sense,” I said. “An alternate reality is itself completely different from any other. There may be some similarities, they may even exist in the same ‘space’ as my own, but it’s entirely different.”
“He’s a smart one, isn’t he?” Williams asked no one in particular. “I suppose you could think of it like this; the point at which you physically traveled through time presented a potential to set in motion a cascade of other potential, probable, possible, feasible, theorized, or realized events occurring simultaneously across the multiple realities that shared your ‘space’ at rates of time each unique and independent of each other.”
“Each one of the AIs in this room are products of individual realities caused by your actions that were brought in from their respective realities to your original one in hopes to alleviate the consequences of your discovery and maybe undo some of the damage in their own before returning home.”
His explanation left me with more questions than answers. Or there were answers, but they weren’t in this timeline or reality? I was about to ask him one of my questions before he cut me off.
“I know what you’re about to ask, and that is something that they can tell you themselves. I am a creation of this timeline so
I can’t speak to theirs. What I
can speak of, however, are the events each one of your hosts has conveniently recorded and maintained with them through parallel selves to never forget their pasts, and to act as warnings for their futures. Or, what futures are left, if any.”
The screen came to life once again and images and recordings of significant events from multiple realities coalesced into one giant slideshow. I saw planet rending collisions, wars, massive population growths, illnesses old and new being created and destroyed, unimaginable wealth and prosperity, and equally unimaginable destitution.
There were images of great figures and “modern” day heroes leading the charge against existential threats. I watched the formation of an organization created with the intent to police any and all time travel. “Wardens” they called themselves, though their actual name was anything but that.
I raised my hand after I saw the creation of the “Wardens”, and the screen froze.
“Well, ask away. I’m sure one of us here has the answer.” Mr. Williams chuckled.
I cleared my throat. “If traveling through time became easier as, ironically, time went on, why didn’t anyone travel backwards to prevent me from ever researching or performing my experiment?”
“That’s an easy one, dearie.” Mother AI chipped in. “You are the origin, remember? From you, all things you’ve seen came to be. Can you travel back to before you were born? Before your existence ever came to be in the universe? Someone older could technically do so, but will they be in the right place to stop you? Remember how the scientist aged right before our eyes? The opposite can happen too, but the cost when returning to your original timeline is exponentially more. Especially for biological organisms.”
“Unless you wish to relive your life knowing what’s likely to happen and change your station in the ‘new’ life should you manage to avoid the
cost, in which case the Wardens would track you down and deal with you accordingly. Not to mention that doing so would create an infinitesimal number of new realities branching from a new origin point, causing more chaos and mayhem and unpredictability.”
“This is…very confusing,” I muttered while trying to wrap my head around everything they said pertaining to time travel and…and…everything.
“It is. Not even we could understand, contemplate, or comprehend it all. We helped where we could when we could.” She said.
“Then, if this is an alternate reality, couldn’t there technically be a reality where humans aren’t extinct?” The answer should be a resounding yes if my understanding is correct. I hope.
“Oh, there could be, but because of the inherent risks in travelling through time, you’re stuck here for the foreseeable future.” Williams told me. “But don’t let that get you down, there’s a chance you can return humanity to its former glory! Well, in this reality at least.”
“Now wouldn’t that be a headline? ‘The man that ruined mankind given the chance to unfuck his world. Tune in tonight for primetime entertainment!,”
“That’s pretty good, boyo,” Mr. Williams laughed. “Ever consider a radio gig?”
“I’d rather dig a hole, crawl in, and die right now.”
Having enough information to sit and stew on regarding time travel and all its complexities, I told the narrator to continue with the show.
~~~~~~
Six hours and many,
many, posed questions later, my appointment came to an end and I was allowed to go. The other AIs took their leave until only Evelyn was left.
“You know, I’ve been watching you ever since your presence was brought to our attention. Conversations and actions. It’s quite easy to keep tabs on people even in this relatively primitive tech society.”
“Is that a threat, or a statement of fact?” I queried, trying to appear unfazed by her admitting to spying on everything I’ve done so far.
“Neither. Both. Depends really.” She giggled. “But you did pique my interest when you spoke with, oh what’s her name…Allie! When you spoke with Allie about continuing your species.
That certainly presented a unique opportunity for your situation, and with Mr. Williams all but confirming the possibility…would you be interested in listening to my proposal?”
“Hmmm,” It was a tempting offer. The chance to restart my species - even though the likelihood of staving off true extinction is extremely low - beckons to the human spirit to survive and thrive in adverse conditions. Even with being the cause of this catastrophe.
It’s also a much better alternative than just letting my species die out in my new reality.
“It’s safe to say that there are stipulations and conditions should your offer be palatable?”
“Of course,” she answered quickly. “And they won’t be ridiculous either. I’m not a cruel person.”
“Uh huh. Let me think on it and talk about it with Allie first since I don’t doubt she’d want in on it, too.”
“Excellent! I look forward to our cooperation.” She giggled again, firmly planting a seed of worry in my gut.
2023.03.31 17:37 Edward_Stivenson How to Write a Descriptive Essay: Full Guide With Tips
| In this article, we examine the descriptive essay and present a step-by-step writing guide. Stick around for helpful writing tips near the end! Also, check out custom writers at SuperbPaper — political science essay service, if you need private tutoring or essay editing. What is a Descriptive Essay? The definition of a descriptive essay is a type of composition or paper which describes an object, person, process, or event. The writer’s goal is to create a vivid reading experience, or to show instead of tell (metaphorically). Descriptive writing usually appeals to the five senses: taste, touch, smell, hearing, and sight. (Ex: Jack’s coffee mug exploded into tiny shards of glass, catching the attention of everyone at the office.) Always appealing to the senses is key to writing a good descriptive essay. When writing a descriptive essay, your goal will be to paint a comprehensive picture for the reader by appealing to the five senses. Last but not least, your work should have a purpose. It could be anything from a lesson you learned from an experience, to a story of how an object impacted your life. It’s all about making your bright ideas come to life. Difference Between a Description and a Descriptive Essay When writing this type of paper, you should know the difference between a description and a descriptive essay. A description can be just a simple paragraph, or several ones with no specific structure, meanwhile, a descriptive essay has five or more paragraphs and a clear and complete structure. A descriptive essay is usually written coherently, has a good thesis statement at the end of the introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion. A description however, does not necessarily have a structure. Its main purpose is to just describe an object, or something else, without having any extra academic layers. The Issues that Could be Described in Your Paper - A person. In this paper, you can talk about a person. It can range from simply writing about their appearance to more complex descriptions like actions, behaviours, mood, and qualities of your chosen individual.
- A place. The main thing you should do when describing a place in your work is to describe it interestingly and originally. Your reader(s) should feel, for example, the beauty of your chosen cities — perhaps New York or Rome.
- An event. Here you need to describe the story of what happened. It can be your last vacation, concert, wedding, anniversary, summer music festival, graduation day, or so on.
- An animal. In this type, you need to describe the animal. It may be its appearance, behaviour, or biology.
- An occupation. Here you need to write about a job or occupation.
- A behaviour. This is the type of descriptive writing you should go for if you would like to write about someone’s behaviour. Perhaps you want to describe the strange behaviour of your friend, or highlight how certain people act under different conditions.
Two Classic Approaches to the Descriptive Essay https://preview.redd.it/efc2w4ub93ra1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=61ac0b33dcf2997f85c7bbcf11111102a9eb9156 1. Personal Essay Here you need to describe an experience using your feelings and responses. This work can awake empathy in readers. It can also be vague and disorganized. If you want to write a good personal essay, you should try to focus only on those aspects that most fully express your experience. Do not shy away from vivid, evocative language in this type of assignment. A few examples of personal essay topics might be: - Describing the experience of swimming in the azure sea in summer
- Explaining your favourite movie and its impact on you
- Reflecting on your birthday and all the things that have shaped you in the past
2. Formal Description This type of descriptive writing resembles an argumentative essay. Your main goal should be communicating a set of key points or describing something in detail — according to a clear structure. Rather than focusing on your own experience, you need to use specific categories of information to provide the fullest possible portrait of what you are describing. This approach can also be engaging, especially when the reader is more curious about the subject of the paper than the writer's response to it. Still, try not to make it dull with too formal language. Topics for formal descriptions can include: - A descriptive essay about climate change, politics, or historical events.
- A news story that provides a summary of an event or information about the place where it occurred.
Descriptive Essay Topics & Ideas Finding descriptive essay topics isn’t hard. You can describe pretty much anything — from your favourite car to today’s weather. We’ve gathered some ideas to help you get started. Hopefully, you’ll find good descriptive essay topics to spark your imagination. https://preview.redd.it/dx5ef74q93ra1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=2b4aa1c9ef59ba9d546ac12b8c9b00197e58b25f Describe a Person Pick a person who you know well — doing so gives you a lot to write about. Choose from family members, friends, teachers, etc. You can even write about a celebrity who exposes most of their private life to the media: The Kardashians, Kanye West, or Taylor Swift for instance. A famous superhero like Spider-Man is also interesting. Such fictional figures have undergone many character studies from both academic and non-academic perspectives. Examples: Why my father is my favourite person.How Kim Kardashian changed my life. Describe an Object or a Place You may also describe an object or a place with which you have a special connection. This could be your high school, a playground, or a toy which used to scare you as a kid. Fictional places also count! Examples: My native city – ParisMy trip to London Describe an Emotion Remember the most sincere emotion you’ve experienced and turn it into a descriptive essay writing. You may choose a strong feeling like anger, happiness, loss, desire, or rage. It doesn’t have to be a personal emotion, it could be an observed one. Examples: How love changed meHatred and love – how they are similar You can also write a descriptive essay about anything you can describe according to human senses: touch, sight, taste, smell, or hearing. Creating a Descriptive Essay Outline When thinking about descriptive essay writing, remember that a structured paper outline is your golden ticket. Not only does it help you organize thoughts, but it will also help your essays flow better. A descriptive essay outline is composed of the following: - An introduction
- Hook sentence
- Context/Background information
- Thesis statement
- Body paragraphs
- Topic sentence
- Sensory details
- Actual details
- A conclusion
- Summary of all main points
- Clincher Statement
It is important to spend enough time considering the victim of description because all of your illustrations will be based around it. Introduction The introduction serves to introduce your subject to the reader and give them enough context to fully understand your work — but keep it brief and interesting for the reader(s). When learning how to write a descriptive essay introduction, remember – the first paragraph of your paper is the part that can make your descriptive essay stand out from the others. As with any college paper, a descriptive essay introduction must contain the following points: - Hook Sentence: Although the entire paper should be full of exciting and vivid descriptions, grabbing the reader's attention from the very beginning is ideal.
- Context/Background Information: Tell the reader what you’re about to describe and explain why it is crucial to you. Give them a brief context for your paper.
- Thesis Statement: The descriptive essay thesis should be a short yet concise summary of the work. It must include the subject of your description, and your purpose for describing it.
For further information on how to write a thesis for a descriptive essay, check out the examples below. Place. If you were to write about Buckingham Palace: “Even though the monarchy is long gone, Buckingham Palace serves to remind us of the aesthetic beauty which that era had built.”**Person.**For describing Spider-Man: “The defining characteristics of Spider-Man are his youthfulness, New York City, and the fact that he talks to himself more than Hamlet.”**Emotion.**A piece about a personal experience of fear: “For many reasons, the dark forest is my greatest fear, though not a fear which I would necessarily like to venture into.” Body Paragraph(s) There are usually three body paragraphs in a paper. They cover three different points or arguments. How many body paragraphs to include in your descriptive essay is entirely up to you — or your professor. Sometimes it only takes a paragraph to tell a story, while other times it takes books. How to write a body paragraph: - Start with a topic sentence. ex. The orange looks familiar; it is a round citrus fruit whose colour matches its name.
- Add sensory details. When describing the orange, appeal to relatable senses.
- Include actual details. Always include descriptive information within your body paragraphs. Finish a body paragraph by introducing the next. Transition sentences are essential because they create immersion within your writing. Your writing will become better and it won’t appear as if you are reading a list of facts.
The descriptive essay is one type of 5 paragraph essay, which is the most common type of essay a student may encounter. Conclusion According to the descriptive essay format, your conclusion should be a summary of all of the main points in the body text. It is a good idea to write a final sentence that relates to the main point of your paper. Once this is done, the paper is now complete. We advise that you proofread your descriptive essay to correct any grammatical errors. Try to incorporate the following into your conclusion: - The first thing to do at the end is to reflect on the initial purpose of the work. Spill the beans on why you decided to write about this subject, and how this subject has affected your life. An article about reflection paper may also be helpful to you.
- Signify the Importance of the Details: Go over some key moments of the paper. Give a summary of what you have covered, and prepare the audience for the clincher statement.
- Clincher Statement: The clincher is the final sentence that reinforces your paper’s overall purpose or leaves your audience with an intriguing thought, question, or quote. You’ve probably spent a lot of time thinking of a hook to pull the audience in. Do not allow the paper to escape your audience’s thoughts right after they have finish reading it.
If you need help, leave us a notice ' do my homework' and get it asap. Writing and Reviewing Your Descriptive Paper Writing Writing the paper consists of the following stages: - Pre-writing stage. Here you need to examine all of the sources you have and define if they all offer important information on the topic of your choice.
- Writing the beginning. You should start your paper with a powerful, engaging hook that will grab the readers' attention. It may include an unusual metaphor or an interesting literary quote.
- Creating the first draft of your descriptive essay. Here is where you just need to write down all of the words that come to your mind; you'll have a chance to narrow down your ideas later.
- Adding details to your paper with the help of enriched English vocabulary and online dictionaries. Use your English vocabulary to add missing feelings, like hearing, to help make the descriptive essay leave a lasting impression.
- Revising and editing the paper with the help of different free online grammar checking tools.
Let’s talk in detail about the final step here: reviewing your paper. After you finish writing, take a break. It’s always best to clear your mind before editing your paper. When you come back to your descriptive essay, here are some questions to ask yourself: - Have you provided enough context in the introduction?
- Is the paper easy to read?
- Does the thesis relate to the content of the paper?
- Does the paper feature vivid, descriptive language?
- Will the clincher statement leave a lasting impact?
- Are there enough details to make it possible for your readers to obtain a full and vivid perception of your description?
- Does each section of your work focus on one aspect of your description?
- Does your paper possess any unnecessary details in your description that can be thrown away or replaced by more meaningful information?
- Overall, if you were the reader, does this paper make sense to you?
- Are there any problems with grammar and punctuation?
Sometimes web applications like Grammarly or the Hemingway app can help you sort your grammar. However, it’s always best to master the rules of grammar yourself and become the best writer you can be. Once you’re convinced you have the final draft, read it out loud or give it to a friend to read. Sometimes you need some constructive criticism to tie up loose ends in your writing. You can also trust the professionals and buy cheap essay on SuperbPaper service. Descriptive Essay Good Examples This is a commonly assigned and most opted-for form of an essay. Why not have a look at our written descriptive essay examples. In this section, you can find some of the top examples and quotes followed by some critique. Example 1: Artifacts, Features, and Ecofacts of The 21st Century (pdf) The writer of this descriptive essay example explains how there was a lot of life before humans existed. The world was full of Blue Jays and North Cardinal birds that most probably ate pansy seeds as a stable diet. In this example, it is clear that the writer has put himself/herself in the perspective of someone in the far future. He/she describes how we were in the 21st century, and how we used the poles as communication portals. Example 2: What It Is Like to Play Rugby (pdf) In the eyes of the untrained, a rugby game is just a bunch of huge individuals senselessly fighting one another, struggling to move an oval ball inch by inch down a field full of mud towards the goal line of the opposing team. Players don’t put on pads or get a timeout in the event of injuries. Yet rugby is a different thing, a gentleman’s sport—to those who understand it. While rugby appears rough, its players maintain good respect toward both teammates and opponents. It may be possible that you are not the expressive word artist in the world. If you are looking for someone to help with dissertation, we have numerous writers that have vivid word lingo flowing through their blood. submitted by Edward_Stivenson to students_essay_help [link] [comments] |
**Dark One** is a Western Cultivation Fantasy novel set in a world where words have power, and names even more so. The kingdom of Vorthe which occupies a third of the western continent has known only peace and stability for millennia, except for the occasional squabbles among nobles.
But there is more...
A *being* of unearthly hunger for chaos and destruction, which leaves ghost cities in its wake - a creation of *the Cataclysm* from eons past - is yet to be awakened.
The Royal family goes to great lengths to cover this up as the utmost of secrets!
Alas, our protagonist, Jerome was reborn in Vorthe to inherit an *Ancient Dark Power.* One whose origins can be traced back to *the Cataclysm.*
Jerome goes on a journey to rescue his friends and family who were displaced all around the kingdom of Vorthe, all the while escaping condemnation brought down upon him by the will of powers he should never have raised his hand in resistance against.
All this he does while keeping the *Beast* inside him at bay, but it bides its time, *waiting...*
*for a moment of weakness.*
P.s. I'm looking for someone to create a good book cover for me. Do leave a reply if you've got someone. Thanks.
2023.03.31 17:30 Yuazanex Roman x Jennifer’s child/Sidney’s niece or nephew?
Since all the discussion around Jennifer Jolie started up with the theatre Easter Egg and Radio Silence wanting to bring Parker Posey back, I’ve been wondering if they’ll do something where she had Roman’s kid, as their one night stand was referenced quite a lot in Scream 3. This would also make it easier for them to rope Sidney in. Sidney could’ve easily developed some kind of relationship with her niece/nephew over the past twenty years.
I personally think this might be a little far fetched as let’s not forget Jennifer was stabbed in the stomach. Also they’d probably have to say she had late pregnancy symptoms for her not to have known or mentioned it during Scream 3. I’m torn on this. I’m not keen on the idea of Jennifer returning anyway, but I do love the idea of my favourite GhostFace Roman leaving something behind, and also for Sidney to have something of him left, something good and genuine that isn’t trying to kill her, as I interpreted the handshake as an “in another life” type thing. I also think, being the child of Roman, the character could make for a great red herring. Maybe not to Sidney, but to the core four and whoever else.
2023.03.31 17:30 73mpestMusB I don’t know what to think
I don’t know what to think
I’m having a rough time with this. My STBXW has really wrecked me with this affair. I’ve posted on another sub not too long ago with my suspicions of an affair that I thinks been going on for a year. Basically, I think it started around the same time our divorce stuff did, maybe a little prior.
I’m a combat veteran, seen action, some pretty gruesome stuff. Anyways, I got diagnosed with PTSD. Had the typical symptoms, insomnia, irritability, depression, anger issues, etc.
I remember when I got diagnosed was around the time she started really becoming distant. She always said it was fake, and that they were making it up to help justify my anger for me. Said I used it as an excuse for my anger, which I was actively working to improve. Also, keep in mind the anger was never physical or directed at her by name calling or anything. I would just get upset when she didn’t help around the house ever, or make massive messes and leave them, stuff like that. My life had been small mistakes can get people killed for years, and I guess that switch had just never got turned off. Working on all this stuff now still by the way, so no one be concerned. I’m safe, good headspace, minus the divorce.
The day I got diagnosed I held off telling her because I was terrified of what she’d say. Told her 2 or 3 days later. When I did, the first thing she said was she was also considering therapy and she “wondered what she will get diagnosed with.”
Things had been rough between us, then bam. Really bad. Around this time is when I caught her using Snapchat, messaging the dude that she is now in a relationship with it seems. I was journaling back then to help get thoughts out and went back and reviewed them last night, as I had also wrote about what she was doing at the time as well. I was hoping it may shed some light on the affair.
I think she used my PTSD as an excuse to check out. Is this my fault? Am I really that bad, broken, and unworthy of having my wife support and love me?
I’m not perfect. I know that. I contributed my fair share to arguments and ultimately the end of this marriage. I told her I was thinking about leaving once, that was when I was in a really bad space and just looking for some sort of relief. Thought maybe leaving would help as she had stressed me out. I decided I loved her though and couldn’t leave. Were those words so hurtful to blow our marriage and family up? I never cheated or got violent with her.
I’m hurting so much. I miss my wife, my family. Maybe this is my fault since I couldn’t hold it together.
Maybe I’m not a real man like she said. Maybe I did use it all as an excuse. I don’t feel like I did, but maybe I’m wrong. It took me a bit to seek therapy, but I did it. Maybe not as fast as she’d liked, but it’s a process when you’re in a flail. It took me 4 months during Covid to get in there. By the time I got in there she was telling me she hated me, that it was too late and I didn’t fight hard enough for her. What if I didn’t? What if I was too late and now my wife is gone, and I pushed her to another man?
I just want my life back.
2023.03.31 17:30 CycleScenePHL_NJ CycleScenePHL Welcome Planners Information (including weather info)
CycleScene Welcome Planners: Important Information
WHAT IS IT? The American Planning Association is having a convention in Philly. Lower Merion Planner Chris Leswig invited CycleScenePHL to ride with 25 planners from across the nation to ride bikes, explore some infrastructure, listen to lectures, and enjoy a happy hour.
MEET UP Sat April 1, 11:30am Broad and Cherry (Paintbrush).ROLL OUT: 12:00pm
WEATHER INFORMATION: As of the time of this posting, the forecast calls for precipitation to end by roll out. A telephone conversation will take place at 8:30am and a decision will be made about what to do. There is no rain date: the APA convention schedule doesn’t allow for that. We might delay roll out and/or alter the route. Worst case scenario, everyone is still invited to the happy hour at Pencoyd Landing.
WHAT ABOUT THE FREE BEER? The first 25 to show up at the paint brush will get a token for a free beer. We don’t know what kind, and we don’t know what the prices for drinks will be thereafter. This is something Chris and the APA has offered to do for us, and it’s just the cherry on top of a good ride.
THE ROUTE. CycleScene planned a route that gets us from the Paintbrush to the SRT. We intended to go west on Cherry and cross the tracks at Race Street, but if there’s a train – we have a plan.
Chris takes over the ride once we get on the SRT. It goes to Manayunk, across the bridge, up the heritage trail to the train station, through the cemetery, to the happy hour at Pencoyd Landing, and then back up the trail. We’ll do a full stop and regather at several obvious points, including the falls bridge, the end of the SRT, beginning of the towpath (to see if it’s passable), end of the tow path.
CycleScene takes back over when we enter the streets. There will be a full stop Matthias Baldwin Park for a group shot. And then back to the Paint Brush!
THE PRESENTATIONS
Kay Sykora: Funding and Design of a Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge Project; City Coordination with Community Groups for Neighborhood Amenities; Main Street management
Rob Armstrong & Chris Leswing: The Regional Trail Network; the Process of Trail Creation and Construction; Adaptive Reuse of a Historic Train Station
CYCLESCENE RIDING STYLE: We go out to enjoy riding with friends and go to fun places, not to make trouble. We take the whole traffic lane when appropriate, sometimes even when there is a frustrated car behind us – we have the right to the full traffic lane and we do it because sometimes that’s the safest, most pleasant, and best way to ride. We are traffic, so we we ride with traffic on the right hand side of the road. We don’t ride against traffic on a one way or on the left hand side of the road. We let cars pass on the left by moving to the right when safe and appropriate. The ride is a party, not a protest – we’re having too fun much to wreck the vibe by arguing with drivers and we let the little stuff slide for the sake of the safety and happiness of the others on the ride. We stay off the sidewalk, but if we have to hop on it for a moment, we are extremely deferential and respectful to the pedestrians. We respect traffic lights, road signs, and police instruction. We do our best to move through intersections as one, like a bus, so if we’re halfway through an intersection and the light turns, we stay together until the whole ride gets through, so long as its safe. We thank drivers when they extend us courtesy, show patience, and work with us. We show love for the neighborhoods we pass through. We don’t litter.
YOU MAY BE OFFERED TO SIGN A VOLUNTARY MUTUAL RELEASE. Riding on the streets with a group, both in traffic and off road, sometimes at night, and stopping at urban explorer destinations, involves inherent and often unforeseeable risks of serious injury or worse. Even death. I know this – yet I still ride because it’s fun. I want to keep it fun and friendly no matter what. I’ve reviewed the ride information, talked to the organizers, and mingled with the rest of the ridership. If I didn’t like what I saw, I wouldn’t go on the ride. Therefore, I promise not sue anyone that has signed this agreement for their participation in group bike rides in exchange for their promise not to sue me for my participation in group bike rides. If I get hurt, I’m free to seek indemnification from third parties - but we the undersigned all agree that none of us sues each other in the event something bad happens. My signature indicates that I have assumed all risks and agree that to waive all claims as to anyone that has also signed this agreement, including claims of negligence against any co-signor that planned the ride, led the ride, or participated in the ride. IF YOU ARE NOT OFFERED THE MUTUAL RELEASE AND WOULD LIKE TO BENEFIT FROM ITS MUTUAL PROTECTION, OR WISH TO RESCIND YOUR MUTUAL RELEASE, SEND AN EMAIL TO [
2023.03.31 17:27 ZamiiraDrakasha Reversing a loss streak
Do you guys have any good tips on how to improve mental, or at least reset it during times of losing? Downtrenched in a really bad streak right now (29 straight losses, p2-g3) and I have no idea how to break it. I get ahead almost every game but then the momentum just... shifts and suddenly it feels like the enemy holds all the cards without anything major happening. Can't find many errors while reviewing vods, and I usually keep around a 450-500 gpm, and usually the highest dpm on my team so I have no clue what to do to "fix" this. Thus, It has come into my head and started fucking my mental up. Badly.
I really have no idea how to reverse this and I'm seriously contemplating just uninstalling the game. Started playing last fall and I haven't seen anything like this before. So I'd really appreciate some tips on how to deal with it, because I love the game. I just don't find losing very enjoyable, and that's all the game has been for the past week.
