2023.03.30 19:57 Certain_Bus4931 Mandatory I passed Security + post!
Well, fellows, I don't think I've ever been this nervous during an exam but I managed to stay composed and passed with a not-so-terrible 777.
I used Dion's and Messer's Practice tests as my main resources. I was averaging 75-80% between all those tests on my first try. I studied actively for 2 months and wrote around 50 pages of notes.
English is not my first language so for me, the biggest challenge was not so much if I knew the concepts or not but rather being able to understand the questions properly. These questions are worded in a very tricky way and the options are so similar that technically, in many cases, all could apply so you REALLY have to read them and understand what is being asked. The practice tests I mentioned before are great to make you get familiarized with the exam's wording.
PBQs... oh boy. The PBQs can drain your clock so quickly that is not even funny. Also, they were brutal. Very technical and time-consuming stuff. I really would advise skipping them until you are done with the multiple choices. Sure, they are weighted higher when it comes to scoring but if you do well enough in the MC, then you can even get by without completing them (I missed a whole one and rushed through the other 4, leaving some of them incomplete)
Go through the exam objectives and if you can define in your own words at least 75% of all concepts, while also already being able to crack the wording puzzle (identify the keyword of the question) about the way ComptTIA ask their question, then I would say you should be ready to give it a go.
Thanks to all and best of luck as well!

2023.03.30 19:57 Deempeer Why do the devs never care
So, after the PTB release, I have genuinely been wondering, as many other people, why the devs just don't care about any sort of feedback from neither the general community nor the fog whisperers.
I mean the first thing that obviously comes to mind is that they just don't play their game, or at least not regular mm, whenever there's a dev stream they just play custom games against each other, why? Because they're probably very terrified of actual mm because they most likely wouldn't have fun, so why are they forcing us to not have fun.
Another thing is, when the biggest content creators and people who understand the game the most, Otz, SpookyLoopz and many others mention on their streams and in their videos that they're very afraid of the healing nerf and they see it as a huge red flag they still just don't care and move on because the data in their excel sheet are saying that 90% of survivors are likely to heal at least once during a match so it's obviously too fast and too op.
I don't get it, I just don't, I personally love this game, have spent nearly 4k hours on it and I would hate to see it die, which probably won't happen, but I still wanna enjoy the game which is gonna be harder and harder to do if they keep making changes like these.
All these pointless nerfs and changes will have to come to an end eventually and some of the devs will have to realize that what they're doing with the game is just wrong. I just hope that'll happen sooner rather than later.

2023.03.30 19:55 ReganLynch Coryat Poll for Thursday, March 30, 2023
How did you do today? What was your Coryat score? This is also a place to chat and exchange notes about how you did, how this compares to your average, any trends you’re noticing, the difficulty of the boards, categories and clues, etc. For the main discussion of today’s game, please see the recap thread. Thank you!
If you’re new to Coryat scores, here’s how you can track and get your score for a game:
Keep score of how you do on every question in the day‘s game.
After playing, add the point value for all clues for which you would ring in, if you were on the show, and answer correctly before you hear one of the contestants give the correct answer, and then:
Subtract for the clues you would ring in on and not respond correctly in a timely fashion, before hearing one of the contestants give the correct response, with no plus or minus if you would not ring in.
Note about “bounce backs“: if a contestant misses on a question, and you respond with the correct answer after that and before another contestant gives the correct response, you can count it, but only if you did not “ring in“ and respond incorrectly first. In the latter case, you deduct as a miss.
For daily doubles, you add the face value if you are correct but do not deduct if you are incorrect.
You can learn more from Karl Coryat about his score tracking method at his webpage:

2023.03.30 19:55 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA 6 Weapons: What Could We Use?
Weapons have always been an important aspect of the GTA franchise, and it's safe to assume that GTA 6 will have an extensive arsenal of weapons for players to choose from.
While there has been no official confirmation about what weapons will be available in GTA 6, there have been some rumors and speculations about what we could potentially see.
One popular theory is that the game could feature more futuristic weapons, such as laser guns or other advanced technology. This would be a departure from the more realistic weapons that have been featured in previous GTA games.
Another theory is that the game could feature more realistic weapons, but with a greater emphasis on customization. This could include the ability to add different attachments and modifications to weapons, allowing players to truly personalize their arsenal.
There have also been rumors that the game could feature weapons from previous GTA games, such as the chainsaw from GTA San Andreas or the flamethrower from GTA Vice City. While this is a possibility, it's important to keep in mind that these are just rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Ultimately, the weapons in GTA 6 are anyone's guess at this point. However, it's safe to assume that Rockstar Games will continue to create a diverse and exciting array of weapons for players to use.

2023.03.30 19:55 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA 6 Gameplay: What Changes Could We See?
GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games of all time, and fans are eagerly waiting to see what Rockstar has in store for them. While we don't know much about the gameplay of GTA 6, there are a few changes that we could potentially see in the game.
One possible change is an increased focus on realism. In recent years, games have been moving towards more realistic graphics and physics, and it's possible that GTA 6 will follow this trend. This could mean more realistic driving physics, more realistic weapon handling, and more realistic character movements.
Another potential change could be a greater emphasis on player choice. In recent years, games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 have emphasized player choice and branching storylines, and it's possible that GTA 6 could follow suit. This could mean that players will have more freedom to make choices that affect the game's storyline and the world around them.
We could also potentially see more player customization options in GTA 6. In GTA 5, players could customize their character's appearance to a certain extent, but there were still limitations. In GTA 6, it's possible that players will have even more control over their character's appearance and abilities.
Finally, we could see some changes to the game's online multiplayer mode. In recent years, games like Fortnite and Apex Legends have introduced battle royale modes, and it's possible that GTA 6 could follow suit. It's also possible that Rockstar could introduce new modes and features to keep players engaged in the game's online world.
Only time will tell what changes we'll see in the gameplay of GTA 6, but one thing is for sure: fans are eagerly waiting for the game's release.

2023.03.30 19:54 sushibass New Budget PC vs PS5 vs Xbox
Hi there,
so I'm a little torn on what I should buy as a new gaming setup. My budget is quite small (500-750€) and I want to play some of the new releases (Hogwarts,... ) and some older demanding ones (Cyberpunk, RDR2, Elden Ring,... ) in 1440p, maybe 4k in the future with an upgrade or when I can afford a 4k Display/TV.
My current setup is an upgraded old Xeon Server PC with a w3680 (6 core, 3.6Ghz), 12Gb and a 1650 Super. Unfortunately this is barely upgradeable, since there are no ram slots left and the PSU is only a 475Watt. (Upgrade not worth the money imo) It runs fine and I can game most titles with pretty good fps at 1080 up until now, but since new games also require more Ram and I would like to upgrade to 1440p, I want to see what is the best thing I can do with my budget.
Do you guys think it is worth building a PC right now (I probably have a better budget in 3-4 years) or buy a console and be done with it. I'm kind of leaning to the console because it has good value, and since I should be able to use my current Setup another 3-4 years without problems (hopefully) for my day to day.
But I would love to hear your ideas.
I would also like to be able to play starfield when it comes out, so if it is the console it is probably gonna be the xbox, although I like the PS controller more..
TLDR
Current Setup: old 6 core xeon, 12gb ram, 1650 super (unupgradeable, but working fine)
want: play games like HL, Cyberpunk, Starfield, RDR2 in 1440p, maybe 4k
budget: 500-750
Time till next upgrade(estim.) : 3-4 years
Console or budget PC?
Bonus: Ps5 vs Xbox
Sorry for my baby english, don't write too often in english

2023.03.30 19:54 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA 6 Still AWOL, But Rockstar Announces Big Updates For GTA Online And Red Dead Online
Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is an elusive beast that has eluded [official] detection for years. The current “big dog” Grand Theft Auto V was first released way back in September 2013, and has been available across two console generations (Xbox 360/PS3 and Xbox One/PS4). It will even be available natively on next-generation Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles, which is quite unprecedented in the gaming realm. So, while Rockstar seems reticent to just letting us wait in agony for any news on GTA 6, it is at least giving us some new updates on its two current hot properties: GTA Online and Red Dead Online.
In the case of the incredibly popular (and highly lucrative) GTA Online, Rockstar says that a big “summer update” is coming for gamers with a “fun mix of diverse” content to partake in. Even more interesting is the fact that the developers indicate that its “biggest update ever” is coming before the end of 2020. That update will include new Heists that will take place in a completely new location, which has definitely piqued our interests.
red dead online As for Red Dead Online, its next big update is actually arriving next week; on July 28th to be exact. Red Dead Online hasn’t exactly been teaming with new content, as the last big update for the online component of Red Dead Redemption 2 dropped way back in December 2019. However, Rockstar is promising a new Frontier Pursuit mode with a focus on “naturalism” and a new battle pass-type component, which is conveniently named Outlaw Pass. Finally, Rockstar says that it has addressed tons of bugs with the game and has taken community feedback to heart with this release, which is definitely appreciated.
In addition to the game updates on the way, Rockstar also took the time to address the well-being of its online communities. “We are also committed to ensuring that our games are fun for everyone and as safe as possible from modders, cheaters, hackers, and those who seek to harass other players,” said the company in its blog post.
“So far this year, we have taken action on hundreds of thousands of players caught violating community rules across both games. Please help us keep our communities safe and fun by reporting any sort of cheating either directly in-game or via our dedicated web reporting tools for both Red Dead Online and GTA Online.”
It's good to see that Rockstar is cracking down on those looking to spoil the fun for everyone, and its methods for “taking out” such offenders is among the best in the industry.

2023.03.30 19:53 whos_chair_is_that Most of Chicago is now course-less
| I live on the North Side of Chicago, which only had one 9 hole course to service the entire North Chicago area - Lincolnwood Centennial (Lincolnwood, IL). This short course (longest hole is 240 ft, but near the city you can’t complain) is now under construction. That means the only courses in the immediate Chicagoland area are Illinois Institute of Technology’s course (next to the Sox Stadium!) and a little further south is Paul McBeth’s designed Jackson Park (which is also a ~ball~ golf course). https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WenY-RRTYiY Anyone familiar with Chicago knows that driving from the northside to the southside is NO quick drive, especially when there will be only 2 courses in the entire city that are going to be packed and have HUGE traffic during the summer. I don’t even want to think about drives when the Cubs and Sox play at home, and driving to the Glenview course means going through O’Hare airport (the busiest airport in the country). This is a tragedy!!! I am not saying that these courses are inaccessible by any means, I’m very certain I will be at all of the pins you see all the time. But think of the number of people who won’t consistently make that drive. Many people in Chicago do not own a car, either by choice or not being able to afford one. Public transportation to any of these places from my neighborhood would take hours. We’re talking about the 3rd biggest city in the U.S. , a city that loves sports, a city which faces poverty where I’m sure kids would love to go play a free sport outside. That is a ridiculous amount of people who do not have access to a course in a relatively popular disc golf state. If you haven’t been to Chicago, it is not all concrete. As you can see in the picture, there’s is plenty of parks, especially in the North suburbs, but nothing to service all of these communities. I’m not sure what it takes to plant a course, but I would love any assistance organizing something to service this area… Note: Now I REALLY wish the Cubs didn’t trade Dylan Cease ———————————————- TLDR: There’s like a million people who are missing out on disc golf for no good reason. 2023.03.30 19:53 idkkitsune Finished my first run! Some Questions that are still in my head.
Just successfully finished my first run today (Ascended! Since if the game gave you the option to ascend, why not :p), For som reason i've been stuck at 15-20 for quite some games, while in this game 20-25 is a first time pass, I assume that's because am stacked with potions, ankh and finally know how to use the green seed. So, here's some questions that I still want to know.
- Is the seed corresponding to the strength potion the holy seed? Since that's the only seed that kinda boosts the hero's power. Also if I put 3 random seeds, are the 3 corresponding potions always 33/33/33? Or are some potions like potions of strength are more rare.
- How to deal with food issues, for som reason met with food issues on floor 15-20, if I didn't have the horn, prolli would starve, but is the horn really necessary?
- Is there only the giant axe which requires 20 strength? Or is there any other weapons (same tier)
- Should I upgrade the scroll of transmutation to the black version? I mean some other heroes ability are quite good, but need luck.
- Is there any other way to counter ranged enemies other than hiding behind doors? Since in some areas, specifically a floor on 20-25, is in a large area with those damned floating eyes .w. I know I can brute force through (invis/swift/health potions) but seems wasteful.
- Is archer a good character selection? Since that's the hero I used to finish the game, her infinite arrows are quite useful dealing with piranhas and kite enemies.
- Are bombs/elixers/catalysts/ crystal really useful? Based on description, they seem pretty meh and quite wasteful to obtain.. Same with most of exotic scrolls and potions actually, except upgraded experience potion, upgraded upgrade scroll and upgraded transmutation scroll (Refer to question 4)
- How do you find traps, do I really need to search every step I take? Sometimes it will show up automatically but sometimes not.
- Also is there any secret recipes for alchemy? Because some of the items can be thrown into the pot while there's no recipe for anything with it.
Andd that's all I think! Thanks all and have a good day-

2023.03.30 19:52 No-Poem166 Crunching noises in right ear (for 3 weeks), no earwax, no infection. Prescribed allergy meds?
Hey
AskDocs,
I am 22F (turning 23 soon yay!), non-smoker, very physically active, medicated ADHD, suspected folliculitis (and treating it with Nizoral), and in ITP remission. Had ovarian cysts removed, as well as my appendix. I don't drink or use any recreational drugs. I live in Canada.
For the last 3 months, my right ear has been making crackling noises on and off. It is strange because I often don't hear it throughout the day until I get home, as I assume I am just hearing everything else and it is drowned out. I noticed that my right hearing is a little bit more muffled than my left ear, and sometimes I feel a clear-like fluid coming out of my ear. When I move my head back and forth, it swooshes. Particularly when I crank my neck backwards. I also have that thing that makes my ear crack/pop when I tense my jaw, but that has been a thing for my entire life. It does not ring. It is just really annoying since my right ear is always a little bit quieter.
I went into a walk-in clinic a few days ago and was given a script for some
antihistamines and a nasal spray. The doc said that my ears looked clean so it
wasn't wax, and that I luckily did
not have any ear infections from what he could see. I was told to come back 2 weeks later if it doesn't get better. However, I don't really think I have allergies at all? I am not sniffly nor congested, nor do I exhibit anything that demonstrates that I have an allergy. Can it really be that simple? I get really scared about anything prescribed with my horrible experience with prednisone, but I know it is nothing like that. It has been causing a lot of anxiety and panic attacks because I scare myself into thinking that I have permanently hearing loss, etc.
Sorry if this seems very straight forward to many, I have a lot of traumas dealing with the healthcare system due to how my ITP diagnosis/treatment went. I really wanted a second opinion on my situation. Thank you all <3.

2023.03.30 19:52 AutoModerator 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐓𝐨 Watch John Wick: Chapter 4 Online 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 ReddiT
Action Movies! Here are options for downloading or watching John Wick 4 streaming the full movie online for free on 123movies & Reddit, including where to watch the latest installment in the John Wick franchise at home. John Wick: Chapter 4 2023 available to stream? Is watching John Wick: Chapter 4 on Peacock, HBO Max, Netflix or Disney Plus? Yes, we have found an authentic streaming option/service. Watch John Wick: Chapter 4 Online Free On 720p, 1080p, and 4k Available.
John Wick 4 is finally here. Find out how to stream the Keanu Reeve’s action franchise movie John Wick: Chapter 4 online for free.
Over the course of three films so far, we’ve seen the consequences of what can happen when one of the world’s greatest hitmen comes out of retirement. John Wick, AKA Baba Yaga or The Boogeyman, is a man who is not to be trifled with under any circumstances, yet criminals can never seem to learn their lesson. This incredibly popular series began with John (Keanu Reeves) seeking revenge on the men that invaded his home, stole his car, and worst of all, killed his puppy, Daisy. From here, endless complications have prevented John from returning to retirement as he has traveled around the world and gone on the run. Now, in John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023), we’ll get to witness the titular hitman’s greatest challenge yet as he seeks revenge on the High Table. A council of highly respected (and feared) crime lords, they run the criminal underworld’s most powerful and notorious organizations; so needless to say, John has a punishing task ahead of him.
Chad Stahelski’s sequel impressively outdoes the critical success of its predecessors, with John Wick: Chapter 4’s positive reviews being the best of the franchise. The movie already holds a Certified Fresh 93% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, which is higher than the two sequels’ 89% scores and the original’s 86% rating. John Wick: Chapter 4 is also expected to be the franchise’s biggest box office success yet, meaning it’s apt to enjoy a long exclusive theatrical window before releasing on streaming.
If you’re excited to see where this highly anticipated action series goes next, we’ve got good news for you, because the latest installment is clocking in at a massive 169 minutes. It’s also out incredibly soon! Keep reading below to find out when and where you can see John Wick: Chapter 4.
Here’s your guide on how you can watch the highly anticipated action movie John Wick 4 streaming, the latest installment in the John Wick franchise.
When Is John Wick: Chapter 4 Release Date?
John Wick: Chapter 4 will first debut exclusively in theaters on Friday, March 24, 2023. It’s hard to believe that this is nearly two years later than its originally intended release date of May 21, 2021!
If you would rather wait to watch it from the comforts of home, keep reading below, so you can learn more about the movie’s streaming and home media release details.
Where to watch John Wick 4:
As of now, the only way to watch John Wick 4 is to head to a theater when it releases on Friday, March 24. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or buy on digital platforms like Vudu, Paramount, Apple and YouTube, or become available to stream on Peacock.
Following its release in theaters, the film will be available to stream on Prime Video. Expect the movie to hit the streamer 45 days after its theatrical run, which should be sometime in May. it’s most likely that Peacock will be the main platform that will stream John Wick: Chapter 4.
Is John Wick 4 Available Streaming on Peacock?
Not Now,Lionsgate struck a massive distribution deal with Peacock that gives the streaming service exclusive rights to its films’ “Pay 2” streaming window (via THR). The agreement means that after Lionsgate’s films have their initial streaming releases on Starz, the movies, like John Wick: Chapter 4, will later be available to stream on Peacock. Since Lionsgate hasn’t even confirmed the official streaming release date for the John Wick sequel on Starz, don’t expect to see the movie land on Peacock until at least winter 2024 after the deal officially kicks in.
Pay 1 windows typically last between a year to 18 months, meaning that if John Wick: Chapter 4 begins streaming on Starz in September 2023, it isn’t likely to join Peacock’s movie library until September 2024 at the earliest. Peacock and Lionsgate’s deal confirmed that releases like John Wick: Chapter 4 would start streaming on the service in 2024, so the latest movie will most likely be on Peacock in fall 2024. By this time, John Wick: Chapter 4 will be available alongside the entire John Wick franchise for streaming on the platform.
Will John Wick 4 be on Netflix?
No, John Wick 4 will not be available on Netflix — at least not anytime soon, since it will be heading straight to Peacock after its theatrical release. In the meantime, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available on the NBCUniversal-owned streaming platform.
Is John Wick 4 streaming on HBO Max?
John Wick 4 is expected to stream on HBO Max at some point after its theatrical run. No official streaming release date for the movie has yet been given, but as it comes from Warner Bros., it will likely arrive on the platform after its cinematic debut barring some unprecedented events or a unique deal.
Is John Wick 4 Available On Hulu?
Viewers are saying that they want to view the new movie John Wick 4 on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. It will be exclusive to the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.
Is John Wick 4 streaming on Prime Video?
Amazon Prime Video subscribers might be disappointed because ‘John Wick 4’ is not a part of the streaming giant’s library. Alternatively, you have the option to turn to similar films using your subscription, including ‘Smile,’ ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula,’ ‘Let the Right One In.’
The bad news is that the movie is not likely to come to Prime Video. Paramount Pictures movies used to head to Amazon Prime Video about a year after the theatrical release, but that’s changed with a lot of movies recently. Instead of heading to Prime Video, they’ve gone to Paramount+.
Is John Wick 4 Streaming Online?
Well, not right now. In terms of the streaming release, John Wick 4 will most likely follow the 45-day theatrical window before being available to stream online. Due to Peacock’s multi-billion dollar acquisition of Lionsgate (the franchise’s production company), it’s most likely that Peacock will be the main platform that will stream John Wick 4.
How To Watch John Wick Online
Soon to be four entries long, the John Wick franchise continues to deliver crowd-pleasing and action-packed times for audiences. So, with the newest installment being released very soon, now is the perfect time to head back to the beginning and relive John’s journey!
Whether you’re already a superfan of the series or want to watch them all for the very first time, you’re in luck because the films are easy to find. The original John Wick (2014), John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017), and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) are all available for streaming right now on Peacock. However, they are all set to leave the service on April 1, 2023. If you don’t want to sign up for Peacock or if you miss your chance to see them there, the films are also available to rent or buy on online stores such as Amazon and Apple TV.

Water is life.
All good disaster planning includes water storage for a temporary disruption, but what if a prolonged drought forces you to take extreme measures? What are
ways to conserve water over weeks, months, or even years?
Lessons From Cape Town, South Africa
In 2017, in Cape Town, South Africa,
residents were required to restrict their water use to 50 litres (13 gallons) per person per day during a severe drought.
That included:
- drinking
- flushing
- garden
- hygiene

In contrast, most Americans use between 70-100 gallons of water daily!
Residents of Cape Town and other drought survivors devised clever ways to conserve water in extreme drought that we can learn from as many parts of our country dry out. We’ll cover those later in detail.
But first…
We Are Currently Headed Towards Our Own Water Disaster
If you follow the news, you probably heard that
Lake Powell’s water level is so low that its hydroelectric plant is in danger of shutting down.
This is unprecedented.
Lake Powell has sunk to
28% of capacity.
Its sister reservoir, Lake Mead, is down to 26% of capacity. This may be uninteresting to you unless you are one of the
40 million people that receive their water from these reservoirs. That’s 13% of the US population.
If you are one of these unlucky ones, expect unprecedented water restrictions in the coming months and years. Unfortunately, other areas may not be far behind.
Drought Conditions are Widespread
Drought conditions are not restricted to California and Arizona.
40% of the United States, including all western states from Montana down to Texas, is currently experiencing some form of drought. 25% of that is categorized as Extreme or Exceptional Drought. (
See Drought.gov).
Perhaps even more disturbing is the impact of drought on the farms and ranches in the west. California grows over a third of our country’s vegetables and two-thirds of its fruits and nuts. Drought conditions that impair the ability of California farmers to grow the crops needed will only add to our country’s food source instability.
Ultimately, drought conditions will impact all of us directly or indirectly. So what can we as individuals do to conserve this precious resource?
These water conservation tips range from “no brainers” to radical, worst-case-scenario. You may not be prepared to use all of them now, but establishing good practices prepares you in case your water supply diminishes.
Easy Ways to Save Water and Money
We are meant to be good stewards of our planet and resources.
Water doesn’t need to be scarce in your area for you to use it wisely. The following ideas are “low-hanging fruit” that still result in significant water savings. Moreover, these are so simple as to rise to the level of common sense.
Pick one or three and start including them in your daily routine.
- Install low-flow shower heads. This is super easy, and you won’t even notice a difference. Some towns and cities even provide them for free.
- Don’t run the water while you brush your teeth or are shaving. Duh.
- Defrost meat in the microwave or in the fridge overnight instead of in water.
- Put a pitcher of cold water in your fridge so you don’t waste water waiting for it to cool.
- Clean vegetables and fruits in a bowl of water instead of under the faucet.
- Scrape dishes into the garbage or compost and skip using the garbage disposal to save water. Keep a small compost bin in the kitchen to make this easier and more automatic.
- A dishwasher is generally more water-efficient than washing dishes by hand. However, if you need to wash dishes by hand, fill a second sink or container with water for rinsing.
- Make sure dishwashers and clothes washers are full before starting a load.
- When washing clothes, match the water level to the load’s size.
- Take shorter showers. Set a timer to keep everyone in the family aware of water usage.
- Water your lawn at night. This reduces evaporation of water.
- Use a broom to clean your driveway or sidewalk instead of hosing it down.
- Don’t let the hose run when washing your car. Instead, install a spray nozzle or turn it off until done soaping.
- Insulate hot water pipes so you don’t have to wait as long for hot water.
- Check for AND FIX leaks around toilets, sinks, and pipes.
- Even if you don’t suspect a leak, put a couple of drops of food coloring in your toilet tank. If the water in the bowl changes color without flushing, you have a sneaky leak in your toilet.
- Never pour water down the drain when there could be another use for it, like your pet’s water bowl or watering house plants.
Ways to Conserve Water During a Drought
If your region is consistently dry (as mine is) or if conditions cause water levels to be lower than normal, you may need to take more drastic water-saving measures.
Some of these require changes in habits, and some require spending money. However, all of them result in real water savings, especially collectively.
- Install sink aerators. They mix air into your water, so you don’t notice a lower water flow.
- Install water-efficient toilets. You can save literal gallons with each flush with newer models.
- If you have an older toilet and aren’t ready to replace it, you can place a brick, rock, or bottle filled with gravel into your toilet tank. This fools your toilet into using less water to flush. Ingenious!
- Staying with a toilet theme, don’t feel you have to flush every time you tinkle. 🙂
- Cut your showers short. You can install a timer in your shower to remind you to keep it to 5 minutes or less. Depending on your water flow, a shower uses 2-5 gallons a minute, so every minute counts.
- If you absolutely need to take a bath, only partially fill the tub.
- Boil food in as little water as possible. You only need to just cover pasta or potatoes.
- Place a steamer over boiling pasta and steam your vegetables. 2 in 1.
- Save the water from cooking food and recycle it in other cooking or on your garden. That goes the same for water from canned vegetables.
- Designate one water glass for each family member and just use the one for the day to save on washing dishes.
- Plant drought-resistant trees and plants.
- Mulch around your garden, trees, and plants to retain moisture longer. Also, read about ways to garden in droughts.
- Cover pools.
Radical Ways to Conserve Water During Extreme Drought
There may come a time when nearly everything you do is focused around conserving precious water. The following ideas came from the personal experiences of a Cape Town resident and the personal account of long-time prepper, Jim Acosta, during a 2014 drought in California.
- Think every time you open a tap and shut it off as soon as possible.
- Put a bowl in every sink to catch water and then use it to flush toilets or, if it’s clean, in the garden or laundry.
- Put a bucket in your shower to catch the water as it heats up. This is clean water, so you can use it for any purpose.
- Put an instant hot water heater under your sink, so you don’t have to run water to warm it.
- Put a greywater catchment system in your house. This method pumps or pipes water from sinks, showers, and laundry into grey water tanks or directly onto your lawn or plants. This is not safe for gardens but can be used to water trees, plants, and lawns. Greywater can also be used to flush toilets. Here is just one of many ways to build a greywater catchment.
- Turn off the inlet valves on your toilet and use buckets of grey water to flush them.
- Switch to biodegradable soaps and shampoos to make grey water safer for plants.
- Limit showers to 90 seconds (apparently, this can actually be done).
- Use biodegradable wipes, sponge baths, and dry shampoos instead of showers.
- Wash clothes less. Use a soak cycle when you wash them to help clean them.
- Capture rainwater using barrels, tanks, or pools. You can use rainwater for toilets or laundry.
Real-life Examples from Cape Town, South Africa
One Survival Mom reader, Andre, who hails from Cape Town, had this to say in 2018
when Cape Town was experiencing one of the most extreme modern-day droughts in history:
“We need at LEAST 450 million liters of water per day at the lowest possible usage. We are currently at about 540 million liters per day. What people are missing, this coming season is there must be enough rain to not only supply the current need, but enough to fill the dams to cover the 2018/2019 summer period, too. What are the chances of that after three years of the worst possible drought, due to a high-pressure system not budging on the West Coast of Africa, keeping our rains away? Cape Town and its surrounds are a huge contributor to the South African economy so if the rains stay away and we do run out of water, it can trigger an event to bring the entire country down if we cannot sort desalination in bulk, and that takes 2-3 years to put into place.”
Two Ways to Think About Water Conservation During Drought
Ultimately, Cape Town residents banded together and, in the millions, worked toward conserving every drop possible.
Here’s how they did it, according to Andre:
“
There are two ways to think about conserving water in a drought: - WANTS – Throw lots of money at the problem like water tanks for your house, expensive filters, and all that.
- NEEDS – Be very wise financially, buy things secondhand to save money, and think about each liter of water used.
The Biggest Problem During Extreme Drought May Not Be What You Think
The core problem I identified is not drinking water. That’s easy to buy in bulk and store.
The problem is sewage water. If you don’t flush that toilet, you will face some serious problems, not to mention smells.
So, here is what we did: - Rule 1: No baths ever, and shower only when you have to.
- Rule 2: No watering the garden.
- Rule 3: Catch all water used.
- Rule 4: Wear clothes longer. If you sweat a lot, rinse your clothes whilst waiting for the shower to get hot.
- Rule 4: All cisterns can only be filled with buckets. Closed the taps on all of them.
Before you open any tap, think! Then open the tap very small and close it ASAP. Catch that water for toilet use. Every drop adds up during the day.
Use Showers Strategically to Flush the Toilet
Invest in wet wipes and dry shampoo to be able to skip showers. Catch all the shower water in a bucket used for flushing the toilet only.
But, here’s the thing with showering.
You have to use the toilet, right? You can shower as quickly as you can, 90 seconds as advised, BUT
if you run out of toilet water, you defeat saving shower water.
So use just enough shower water so that you can flush your toilet for the days you don’t shower.
Help the Dishwasher Save Water
Ensure your dishwasher uses less than 5 liters (1.32 gallons) per wash for dishwashing.
Strategies like
water-efficient loading, eco-settings, and more can help your dishwasher save water.
The Washing Machine: The Biggest User
In the end, after all the above was done, the washing machine was left being the biggest user. A full load in the washing machine uses about 150-200 liters (39-52 gallons.) Now, you can spend a lot of money and buy one that uses less water, or always use a full load using the soaking cycle so that the clothes can soak properly, or you can wear clothes longer in-between washes.
So, we first caught the rinse water and then re-used it for the next load’s washing water. Then we stopped the rinsing cycle by simply changing the detergent we used. We now could wash more frequently.
We were able to catch a few liters of rain one day, so we started using rainwater for washing clothes. Using that rainwater, we did not use any drinking water for three washes with all that greywater used for toilets.
That was the best day ever!
We add HTH (pool chlorine) to the grey water stored in drums to ensure no smell. It works quite well.
Now, you can add pumps and pipes to transport water from one place to another, or you can get some exercise and fetch the water with a bucket for the toilets. We chose the exercise option.
The Results of Andre’s Family’s Efforts to Conserve Water
Before this drought all started, we used 25 kiloliters (6,604 gallons) per month for six people in our household. When we had to limit our usage to 50 liters (13 gallons) per person per day, through all these efforts,
we dropped to a total of 5000 liters (1,320 gallons) per month for our entire six-person household. Four of us work from home.
Ultimately, the residents of Cape Town lowered their city’s water usage to about 510 million liters per day, down from 1.2 billion liters just three years earlier. As Andre said, “Low-cost changes with a massive impact on our usage.”
Conclusion
Water is a precious resource. And whether you’re experiencing drought conditions or not, there are lifestyle changes you can make right now to be a better steward of our water supply.
A side benefit for us all, especially preppers, is that the water-saving measures necessary during disasters will be second nature to you.

2023.03.30 19:52 reaglesham We’re living through one of the most interesting periods in crypto history
I feel like we’re all probably numb to this reality after the year that we’ve had, but I think we might be deep in the midst of the most interesting period in crypto’s short history. Let’s just take stock of the chaos:
- First off, it started with War in Europe! plunged worldwide financial markets into chaos, dragging crypto along with it.
- Over $70 Million worth of BTC, ETH and USDT was donated to Ukraine for both military funding and humanitarian aid.
- We saw a Top 10 crypto go to 0 with the LUNA collapse, followed by months of the founder, Do Kwon, saying he wasn’t on the run while running from country to country to evade law enforcement.
- We saw the collapse of Voyager, BlockFi and Celsius. The CEO of the latter even selling mocking “unbankrupt yourself” merchandise in its wake.
- We’ve seen the collapse of the second biggest crypto exchange, followed by the arrest of its founder and an uncovering of massive fraud and mismanagement including revelations no one asked for about orgies and imperial Chinese harems. Oh yeah, and all of this started with a tweet!
- Following FTX, there was a mass exodus from CEXs and an incredible sense of chaos and panic. Predictions of who was next to fall ran rampart as exchanges struggled to handle withdrawals and the following audits failed to give much confidence to investors.
- Do Kwon was finally arrested in Montenegro.
- The SEC takes aim at CEXs over the sale of securities as the XRP lawsuit continues. Meanwhile the CTFC target Binance for unregistered sale of commodities. Each group seeming to have a different definition for what crypto actually is.
And lastly:
- The collapse of the SVB and Signature banks throw the banking sector into turmoil and French prosecutors raid five banks, including HSBC, in an over $1bn fraud case. Amongst all this chaos, politicians still found a way to blame crypto for all this, due to SVB and Signature’s exposure to crypto.
All this during
the longest bear market in crypto history! And yet, Bitcoin has been holding strong lately. Even in the face of banking collapses and widespread fear of a global recession, BTC is (at least for now) on the rise. Big companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft and more are experimenting with crypto infrastructure, even in the heart of a bear market. Not to mention the now-beloved Reddit Collectible Avatars breathing life back into an ailing and widely maligned NFT market.
If you’re exhausted, I don’t blame you - look what we’ve been through - but it’s undeniably interesting, dramatic and wild.
Whether we’re early or not, crypto continues to be a rollercoaster!

2023.03.30 19:50 Neat_Hawk_9166 Watch 'Jesus Revolution' (Free) Online Streaming At Home
In a surprising turn of events, Kelsey Grammer‘s new Christian drama film, Jesus Revolution, has surpassed expectations after over-performing at the box office during its debut weekend.
The movie, which brought in $15.5 million in its three-day domestic debut (more than double what was projected), follows Chuck Smith (Grammer), a pastor from Southern California, as he works alongside a hippie to evangelize his friends.
So where can you stream Jesus Revolution? Will it be on Netflix? What about HBO Max? Here’s everything we know about the movie:
When Is Jesus Revolution's Release Date?
Jesus Revolution debuts exclusively in movie theaters on February 24. It's a fitting bit of counter-programming if the R-rated Jesus Revolution movie is not necessarily your speed.
Where To Watch Jesus Revolution:
As of now, the only way to watch Jesus Revolution is to head out to a movie theater. You can find a local showing on Fandango.
Watch Now: Jesus Revolution (2023) Online Free
Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube or Apple.
Is Jesus Revolution Available to Stream?
It is not yet known when or where Jesus Revolution will be available to stream. However, the movie's production and distribution companies (Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company) lead us to speculate that when the movie becomes available to stream, it will likely be hosted on a couple of different platforms depending on your country. Last year, Lionsgate signed streaming deals with both The Roku Channel and Peacock, that'll allow the streaming services to host their films.
In the United States, Starz is available with any Hulu plan starting at $7.99 per month. In the United Kingdom, Amazon Prime customers can purchase LIONSGATE+ alongside any plan starting at £5.99 per month.
When Will Jesus Revolution Be On Streaming?
While a digital release date for Jesus Revolution has not yet been announced, we can make an educated guess based on a previously released Lionsgate movie.
Plane, which premiered on Jan. 13, came to digital platforms on Feb. 3 — about three weeks after it was released in theaters. If Jesus Revolution follows the same trajectory, we could be watching it from the comfort of our living rooms by late March.
Will Jesus Revolution Be On HBO Max?
No, Jesus Revolution will not be on HBO Max since it’s not a Warner Bros. movie. While the company used to release its films in theaters and on the streamer on the same day, they now allow a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the streaming release.
Will Jesus Revolution Be On Netflix?
While Jesus Revolution could potentially come to Netflix in the future, there are no current plans for it to join the streaming giant after its theatrical run. In the meantime, you’ll just have to head out to a movie theater or wait for it to become available on digital.
Is Jesus Revolution Available On Hulu?
Viewers are saying that they want to view the new true story movie Jesus Revolution on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. It will be exclusive to the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.
Is Jesus Revolution on Amazon Prime?
Even though ‘Jesus Revolution’ is not for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, you can still make the most of your subscription by tuning into similar spiritual films on the streaming giant. We recommend you watch ‘The Girl Who Believes in Miracles‘ and ‘God’s Not Dead.’
Where to Watch Jesus Revolution Online?
‘Jesus Revolution’ has been released exclusively in theaters, which means that you don’t have the option to watch the drama movie online, be it by streaming or purchasing. Thus, to get an immersive viewing experience, you can check show timings and book tickets on the movie’s official website and Fandango.
Jesus Revolution cast
The biggest name attached to Jesus Revolution is Kelsey Grammer, who is set to play the role of Pastor Chuck Smith. Grammer is of course best known for playing Fraiser Crane in both the Cheers and Fraiser TV shows, the latter of which is getting a reboot on Paramount Plus. More recently, he's been seen in Dr. Death, Moneyplane and he continues to voice Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons.
The movie also features Jonathan Rumie as Lonnie Frisbee. Rumie has experience in faith-based titles, playing Jesus in the TV series The Chosen. Playing Greg Laurie in the movie, meanwhile, is Joel Courtney, who is best known for his role in the Netflix rom-com franchise The Kissing Booth.
Also starring in the movie are Kimberly Williams-Paisley (Dog Gone), Anna Grace Barlow (The Big Leap), Nicholas Cirillo (Outer Banks), DeVon Franklin (Canal Street) and more.
What is Jesus Revolution About?
Set in the 1970s, the narrative follows a young Greg Laurie, who arrives in Southern California with many other youngsters determined to redefine truth. There, they meet with a Hippie Street Preacher named Lonnie Frisbee and Pastor Chuck Smith, who welcome the sea of young people inside the latter’s church, resulting in a spiritual awakening that changes the course of Christianity in America forever. If you wish to learn more about this extraordinary true story, you must watch the film yourself; here are all the ways

2023.03.30 19:50 floofstrid What's with the subtitles?
I've just signed up for Nebula and been watching a few of the early releases and originals, and I keep noticing that beyond a few special cases (thanks Jet Lag etc) the subtitles are consistently
awful, and there are some videos where it seems like every single line is wrong in some way (eg. "is now barely whispered aloud" turning into "is now Bailey Width but allowed").
For example
https://nebula.tv/videos/terriblewritingadvice-dungeon-crawl-terrible-writing-advice and
https://nebula.tv/videos/lowspecgamer-arms-secret-weapon as spot checks. They read like they were fed through a shitty version of YouTube's auto-subtitles, and like this they're worse than useless. I'm not sure if they
are automated or if whoever's writing them just doesn't care, but at this point I'd rather not have them at all than get distracted by subtitles that are blatantly wrong. It can't be that hard to
buy some damn subtitles, can it?

2023.03.30 19:50 sleepnowdielater Is the state of the US economy as bad as it seems?
My social media feeds are flooded with news regarding the economy and issues in America. Some say we are in a recession, others say we are about to enter the biggest recession we have ever seen. It’s all very confusing. What does it mean? What can Americans/the world expect? Can someone dumb it down?
