Hi, Looking to get feedback on some new rules I have been working on in resolving the liars paradox. I have also included some comparisons. I think this needs a lot of testing and further research, but I would like the feed back from like minded thinkers. Please let me know if you think this has potential or it rubbish? Thanks for your time and consideration. Here is my example of how the new labeling system might work with paradoxs: Let's say we have a sentence: "This sentence has an even number of letters." According to the traditional rules of logic, this sentence would be labeled as either true or false. However, under my new labeling system, we would approach the sentence differently. First, we would analyze the sentence and determine whether it contains any self-reference. In this case, it does - the sentence refers to itself. Next, we would examine the truth value of the sentence assuming it is true. If the sentence is true, then it must have an even number of letters. Let's count the letters: "This sentence has an even number of letters." - there are 36 letters, which is an even number. Therefore, if we assume the sentence is true, then it is true. However, if we assume the sentence is false, then it must have an odd number of letters. Again, let's count the letters: "This sentence has an even number of letters." - there are 36 letters, which is an even number. Therefore, if we assume the sentence is false, then it is false. Based on this analysis, we can conclude that the sentence is both true and false under the new labeling system, because both assumptions lead to a consistent truth value. This new labeling system provides a way to avoid the paradoxical conclusion that arises under the traditional system, where a sentence can be both true and false at the same time. Instead, it allows us to assign a single consistent truth value to the sentence based on our assumptions about its truth value. The specific set of rules that I propose would not necessarily work for all sentences, as different types of sentences may require different sets of rules or criteria for determining their labels. However, it could be a starting point for developing a more comprehensive system for labeling sentences. Please note, that even with a well-defined set of rules or criteria, there may still be some sentences that are difficult or impossible to label definitively, due to their complex or ambiguous nature. Ultimately, the labeling of sentences is a complex and nuanced process that may require some human judgment and interpretation in addition to formal rules and criteria. The new set of rules or criteria could be applied to any sentence in theory, but it would depend on the specific implementation and the criteria chosen. Some examples of previous works and a brief comparison of my new set of rules. One example of previous work on the liar paradox is the semantic theory of truth, which seeks to explain the paradox by providing a definition of truth that avoids self-reference. This theory proposes that a sentence is true if it corresponds to reality, and false if it does not. In comparison, the new rules for determining the label of a sentence in the liar paradox focus on the self-reference aspect of the paradox. Rather than defining truth or falsity, they seek to provide a consistent and clear way to label the paradoxical sentences as such. One strength of the semantic theory of truth is its broad applicability to a wide range of sentences, not just those that are paradoxical. However, it has been criticized for being too limited in its ability to handle self-referential sentences like the liar paradox. On the other hand, my new rules for determining the label of a sentence in the liar paradox are specifically designed to handle self-reference and provide a clear and consistent way to label the paradoxical sentences as such. However, their applicability beyond the liar paradox may be limited. Alfred Tarski's semantic theory of truth and Saul Kripke's theory of truth-value gaps. Tarski's theory proposes that a sentence is true if and only if it corresponds to reality. However, this theory runs into problems when applied to self-referential sentences such as the liar paradox. Kripke's theory proposes that some sentences may lack a truth value, meaning they are neither true nor false. However, this proposal has been criticized for being too restrictive. In comparison, my new rules for determining the label of a given sentence aim to provide a solution to the liar paradox by introducing a new category of sentences that are neither true nor false but rather paradoxical. This allows for a more nuanced approach to self-referential sentences and addresses some of the limitations of previous proposals. One potential strength of my new rules is that they provide a clear distinction between paradoxical and non-paradoxical sentences, which could be useful in various applications such as automated reasoning systems.. Dialetheist approach, which allows for the existence of true contradictions, and the revision theory approach, which proposes to revise the logical system to avoid the paradox. However, both approaches have been criticized for being counter intuitive or requiring significant changes to traditional logic. In comparison, my new rules proposed for determining the label of a sentence in the liar paradox offer a more straightforward and intuitive solution. By introducing a third label of "indeterminate," the rules allow for the possibility that a sentence may not have a definite truth value, which aligns with common intuitions about the paradox. Para consistent logics, which allow for contradictions to be true in certain contexts. However, para consistent logics have been criticized for being overly complex and not providing a clear solution to the liar paradox. In comparison, the new rules I propose for determining the label of a sentence with self-reference offer a simpler and more intuitive solution. By explicitly labeling sentences as either paradoxical or non-paradoxical, these new rules provide a clear way to handle self-referential sentences without the need for complex logical frameworks. some strengths of the new rules would be; They can be easily applied to a wide range of self-referential sentences, not just those that involve the liar paradox. So dealing with some rough family drama. Sorry for long story, I over explain things.
Tl;dr my mom is treating my stepsister like crap and refusing to even go to her wedding.
When I was 7, my mom started dating my now stepdad (I’m 29 now). A year into their relationship my dad died, which was just a whole drama fest for this new side of the family. My step sister is 3 years older than me, and honestly growing up it was clear we were a “step” family, but my parents tried to play it as there’s no favorites, your kids is mine too now kinda thing.
Fast forward to when I’m 14, and my step sister moves out because my mom is extremely strict only with her. Think like, Cinderella. I don’t know what switched with my mom. She does have bipolar, so maybe she stopped taking her meds, idk. So my mom basically decided myself and my younger brother she had with step dad are her only children. And for full context, I have a rough relationship with my mom too and I knew she was being a jerk.
I’m now 29 obviously. My step sister has 3 kids and is engaged after a divorce from an abusive jerk in 2020. I have 2 kids and am married. Step sisters mom died in 2019, and she’s been having a really hard time with it. She’s tried constantly to reconnect with my mom, apologizing for things she never even did wrong, and trying to have my mom be an active grandmother in her kids lives.
My mom only accepts my kids as her grandchildren. To her, my step sister isn’t family. She’s even vocally told anyone she can that she will skip the wedding because “I’ll be camping. Or something. Who knows”.
I’m the maid of honor, and it’s just been super stressful being there for my step sister and comforting her through all this. I hate my mom, but she is still around because I’m become close with my stepdad (ironically he hates her too, but won’t divorce her because she has cancer). I just sit here every day like… how can you treat someone that you raised from 10 years old like this? I got married without my dad, and I’m still depressed about it 4 years later. I can’t imagine what my step sister feels having it be so recent (not almost 20 years like I experienced) and dealing with someone she wants a relationship with treating her like this.
Thanks for letting me vent. It honestly makes me so sad that this is happening. I don’t care if my mom never gets over herself, cause f her. But my poor sister shouldn’t be treated like this.

We're coming up on 2 years together.
First things first, I know that no matter how somebody encourages you, the onus is on yourself to make the best decisions for yourself. I am not putting the blame on him, because that is unfair and takes accountability off myself.
Having said that, there are a lot of things he's done/said and some of them are starting to get on my nerves. (Not fair since he's being so kind about it)
Whenever I say I want to go to bed before 2am and fix my sleep schedule, he argues against it and tries to get me to stay up late.
When I try to knuckle down and study, he distracts me and has chuckled and said, 'I kind of like distracting you from studies!'
When I go over to his house, I'm encouraged to lie in bed and eat junk food and snacks (having said that, that's partially on me for being lazy too, but it is the created atmosphere - we're not really in an area with a lot of ability to do things outside the house, aside from walk and get more snacks).
When I get a little bit complainy about the gym - despite also clarifying that I love it and it makes me happy, that I enjoy it a lot - and lack the motivation to go sometimes, he told me it's fine if I just cancel the membership.
This annoyed me a bit because, when I have a monthly membership for anything, I always make sure to go enough times to make back the money I'd spend if I paid for one-day passes. I definitely can go to the gym enough to make back my money, easily (6 times a month). Just because I'm a bit mad that I'm busy and going to the gym 2-3x a week instead of 6x, doesn't mean I need to quit the gym, imo??? Why is he jumping to quitting, does he believe in me so little?
Also, if not for him, I - a sequestered, hermit-like nerd - never would have gotten a taste for heavy drinking. Of course, now I know I like it. There was a time where he encouraged me to prioritise a night of drinking over work and it stressed me out a lot.
He introduced me to it and I went running. The first time I got blackout was surrounded by his friendgroup and that was scary AF. I'll never do that again. And while I know, if somebody shoves a shot in your hand, you can refuse it or spit it out, but jeez I was too hammered to be thinking sense. My fault, but still a situation I wouldn't have been in if not for he and his friends.
Then again, without them, I'd just be sitting at home on my laptop, so different evils, I guess.
To be honest, I understand that some prioritise being young over a min wage job, but still. Just felt icky. I'm a very rules-following person. But with his encouragement, sometimes I bring out the worst in me that's already there. The lazy, the slacking, the useless.
When I used to stay with him often I used to feel physically, like shit, because we'd be in his parents house and eating a lot of processed foods and not a lot of fruit and veg. Now, the visits have been cut down which is a relief to my nausea and overall lack of physical well-being.
Having said all this, it all comes from a place of love and adoration. He wants me not to be so stressed, but I think being encouraged to laze about all day, everyday, actually stresses me out more. He's so funny and kind and loving to me. This is my own collection of awful hang ups.
He's optimistic and acts like everything will be alright, we'll make lots of money and live in a fancy house and have cute kids. Whereas, I think more about the realistic side of things, saving money for retirement, poor job prospects, the realities and exhaustions of childcare, etc.
Having said that, I'm also torn. He's so kind and emotionally supportive and he holds me when I cry. I couldn't find someone who cares about me as much as him. So I don't know.
TL;DR Boyfriend encourages me to give up on gym, to not fix my sleep schedule, to not study, to eat snacks and junk food and to prioritise nights out on the town getting drunk over my job. It's starting to annoy me. Even so, he's kind and treats me excellently otherwise.

He is turning 55 in June and has had three back surgeries, with the most recent one on January 3rd, where balloons were inserted between his spine and filled with medical cement after he broke his spine. He is still recovering from the procedure and has been on sickness benefit (ziekenkas in de volksmond) for almost three months now. However, it is becoming increasingly challenging to make ends meet with the sickness benefit, especially since he still has a mortgage on the house that won't be paid off for around three more years.
As his only son, who he claims as "ten laste," and without a wife, he is in a difficult situation. He has no degree and has always worked as a construction worker. He started working at 14 on a "leercontract" and has remained in the construction industry until now. He has been with the same employer for a long time.
I have two main questions:
1) What are the benefits that he can apply for to receive the most assistance possible? He is a single parent with a mortgage, and I have searched for various benefits, but I am having difficulty differentiating between the various procedures and conditions. It seems that even qualifying for the "sociaal tarief" for electricity is impossible. Any advice on benefits that he could look into would be greatly appreciated.
2) Long term, even if he recovers from this, it will be impossible for him to work until the age of 67. His right leg already feels "dead," and sometimes goes completely numb as a result of all the back issues. I have looked into the SWT procedure, which is a sickness benefit with additional compensation from the employer, but he does not seem to qualify for this since he is too young, and the conditions are more strict for "arbeiders" compared to "(overheids)bedienden." Is there anything else that he can and should do?
He surprisingly has not been declared "invalide" despite years of pain and suffering. Although the doctor has renewed his sickness leave until the end of June, which is another three months, I am struggling to see a clear path forward.
If anyone has any recommendations for what he can and should do in the short term to obtain as many benefits as possible to make ends meet and in the long term to avoid becoming completely disabled, please let me know. His job has destroyed his body, and I am worried about the long-term impact on his health and well-being. It is not right for someone to work for so many years only to end up disabled before reaching retirement age.
It seems that there is no real solution or aid from the government for people who have worked in an incredibly demanding job that has damaged their body beyond repair. The retirement age is the same for everyone, with the exception of "arbeiders" and "ambtenaren," but in my opinion, legislators should consider the intensity of the job and the strain on the body it causes to determine retirement age.
I hope that someone can guide us in the right direction as to what is possible for my father both in the short and long term. I am scared, upset, and frustrated about this situation, and I worry that my father's health will only continue to deteriorate.

I contribute monthly to a S&S ISA of index funds, and have for years. My current contribution is around £1100
I also recently started keeping an emergency fund in Premium Bonds, which led me to think:
I could pay my monthly ISA contributions into Premium Bonds, and then pay into my ISA yearly in March before the new tax year
Given the money I already have in PB's, my balance there would fluctuate between about 7-20k depending on the time of tax year
Pros:

Could possibly win £1k/10k/100k/1m, which range from a good immediate return to potentially life changing
Satisfies a desire for potential high returns without high risk
ISA still gets filled at the end of the day

Cons:

Not really DCA anymore, although long term once per year is still a form of DCA I suppose?
Could miss market lows, especially in current conditions. This comes back to time in the market vs timing the market. How much difference does 2-12 months make?
Could just never win anything on PB's

For context: I (21m) have been with my boyfriend(23m) for 3 years. We have lived together for 6 months. He is one of the nicest most considerate people I’ve ever met and he is so loving towards me. We get on so well and he is my best friend in life atm.
One issue we’ve had over the course of our relationship is that my sex drive is much much higher than his. At the start I didn’t really notice this as we were both pretty new to each other and the sexual attraction was very high.
But after a few months, once we were seeing each other regularly, his interest in sex started to fall while mine got higher. Mainly cause I’d never been with anyone before and he was my first everything ( first kiss and relationship). I was finally feeling comfortable and confident about sex and wanted to keep going, try new things and just have a very sex positive relationship.
But he just does not have the same interests. He doesn’t like to talk about sex and is extremely vanilla when it comes to the act. He only enjoys hand and mouth stuff. No penetration. Which Ik is a common thing for gay men however it’s something I enjoyed the few times we did it. We currently have very quick sex about once a week and that’s it. Which to me, for a 3 year relationship for two early 20 year olds, is very little.
Now we live together and almost never kiss. Almost Never hold hands. And never do or say anything sexual to each other.I used to try at least once a day to go up to him and ask to kiss or try turn him on. But all he wants is a quick peck on the lips and that’s it.
We’ve talked a lot about this for a while. I’ve told him how I’m unhappy with the lack of sexual attraction from him and how I want to be more physical with him. He either says “I’m sorry. I’ll try to do more” or “I just don’t have the sex drive like you do”. Ik he feels guilty about the situation. And I do too for bringing it up. But every day we sit in our house. Him playing games and me watching tv and we never say or do anything sexual.
Since I have such a high sex drive I ask if he wants some fun almost every night (we’ve talked about this too and he says he wants me to ask and I’m fine with him telling me no. I’d never make him do anything he doesn’t want to). And 90% or the time he says he’s not in the mood. So I go jerk off by myself. It’s gotten to the point now where I’m just masterbaiting myself once a day cause of how much I’m in the mood.
Now we are back to where we were. Me and him never doing anything sexual. And it’s staring to really affect my mood. I feel trapped and discontent every day.
So I guess I’m here to ask for advice and to vent. What should I do? I don’t want to break up with him. I do still love him so much. We have a whole life together now and breaking up would change literally everything. But the fact that my sex life has ended at age 21 when it just started makes me so unhappy.

I've made a post before on Male Hormonal Acne and finding something that worked for me. I am writing a new one as that method started becoming less effective as a permanent fix, however it is still really good and I would recommend checking that post out if you're a male and struggling with hormonal acne. If you're female, feel free to try it as well as I can only assume it works for everyone, I'm just giving my feedback from a male perspective.
My hormonal acne recently has been pretty bad and because of my skin type, my acne always leaves behind post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, regardless of whether the skins gets damaged from eventually popping it or whether I just leave it, so its quite frustrating.
Naturally, I was back on google researching loads of different ways to to solve it and from experience, face washes/scrubs/facemasks/even prescription medicines do not work for me. With hormonal acne, it is usually due to an imbalance of something in the body and will always be an internal factor which is why the face washes, scrubs etc dont really do anything. However, I am using PanOxyl 10% Benzoyl Peroxide face wash at the moment twice a day but I'm just using it for my Hyperpigmentation mostly.
Anyway, I came across a few Reddit posts claiming Omega3 and VitaminD Deficiencies cause hormonal imbalances and after some further research I found a lot of supporting information on this. It also made sense that this could be the case for me as I work from home and live in England so rarely get any sun exposure, especially during the winter months. I also rarely eat sea food so my body couldnt be getting too much Omega3.
I've since started taking one Omega3 supplement a day (1000MG) and two VitaminD supplements (1000mg) one in the morning and one in the evening. Omega3 is really good for controlling and minimising inflammatory response in the body and regulating blood sugar levels, two of the main causes of acne. I'll be honest, I'm not sure what taking VitaminD does but there has been many studies showing people with hormonal acne had a deficiency in VitaminD so there is likely a correlation.
It's been over a week since I started taking these and its working really well so far, I have clear skin and no new hormonal or cystic acne coming up on my face. If I notice anything forming, In the evening I will take two Licorice supplements and a Picolinate Zinc tablet and that usually gets rid of anything (see previous post on my page for more info on this)
