2023.03.29 12:17 Informal-Cloud5842 ldr girlfriend with an abusive mom
Can anyone give me an advice I badly need it.
I (19f) met this girl (18f) by the end of 2021 online. Things went well and we started dating a few months later. Okay naman yung start ng relationship namin and I was looking forward to meet them irl. I know their mom is strict kaya we couldn't meet agad even if i said pwede ako mag-adjust and ako pumunta sa kanila (we're 3-5 hours away from each other) because they've been opening up to me but I didn't expect how worse she really is.
A month or two after we started dating, bigla akong nakatanggap ng message from their mom using gf's account. Threatening me na tigilan ko daw anak niya or ipapahanap niya ako sa nbi, cursed me, and sabi distraction daw ako sa pag-aaral niya. I didnt reply and waited for gf na mahawakan yung account niya so we could talk.
From then on, nalaman ko na kung gaano kalala mom niya kaya pala di kami makapagmeet up. Di siya basta basta pinapayagan lumabas, need niya daw weeks before magpaalam, then kailangan may proof pa kung sino kasama niya etc. Their mom knows their fb account din kahit ibahin niya password pinipilit pa din, right now di niya alam pw niya but their mom knows, grabe.
Im pretty sure their mom hates me. Occasionally, bigla siyang magmemessage using her daughter's account with the usual threats. Ako naman never ko nireplyan because di naman ako mabilis maapektuhan sa ganyan. I was more worried about my girlfriend, di ko alam kung anong nangyayari sa kanya in those times na di niya ako macontact because of their mom.
We're both in college and last year nagstart na ftf classes ko. My gf's started earlier this year and we saw that as a chance to meet up since my university is pretty near to theirs. But the thing is, we could only meet up pag maaga dismissal niya or may mahaba siyang vacant because their mom knows their schedule. We first met last month and we've been seeing each other since then.
Their mom found out last week na we met up. It was ridiculous. I know it was dangerous for gf kasi di lang verbal/emotional abuse ang ginagawa sa kanya, but it was still their decision kung magsstay ba siya or hindi because i dont want to make that decision for them. They chose to stay. We had to be extra careful when meeting up.
Earlier today may 4-hour vacant siya so we met up. Nandoon na ako sa sm foodcourt waiting for gf and then they came. A few mins later their mom called, gf had to lie, gave me the phone to pretend im a classmate. Im sure their mom knew i wasnt. We were sitting there while they were talking for 20 mins. My gf checked their mom's location on their phone and found out na papunta yung mom sa sm. I had to leave my gf there. Kumain muna ako somewhere then after an hour bumalik ako sa foodcourt to check on gf but they weren't there anymore so i went home.
While i was omw home their mom messaged me again using gf's account and said tigilan ko na daw siya or aalamin niya ip address ko and ipapatulfo niya ako. I know im not doing anything wrong so im not scared, but i know my gf isnt safe with that woman. I dont know how to help. I dont know if its better to end our relationship for their safety. Their mom's always been that way pero lumala lang because of me. I dont know what to do anymore I just want to be with them, why is that so hard? Ive been putting up with their mom's bs because i love my gf so much and I dont want to leave but its so complicated now.
Please anyone give me your thoughts about this

2023.03.29 12:16 WaddupShaddup In search of a niche Christian denomination/group: any ideas? (International home church network)
Hey all, in the past I attended a few services of a church in Shanghai that seemed to be really private to the public and invite-only. I also attended a US location. They seemed on fire for the lord, but I never grasped their organizational structure or who they really were.
They operated on a house-church basis and despite being impossible to find information on, seemed to have locations across the world in communication with each other. I know for a fact they have locations in Singapore, Malaysia, the USA, Australia and China. Also from what I can tell, even the US congregations seems to be mostly Asian in demographics, but I can’t know that for sure.
They placed a heavy emphasis on praise Jesus aloud during the songs and service. Like kind of just chanting Oh Jesus and stuff like that. As far as I know, every location listed themselves as Church Of and met in homes. There was a very strong emphasis on baptism, but only for valid adults.
Any ideas who this group might be?

2023.03.29 12:16 asusf402w Old vs new(er) homes
I live in a tiny town, 5 min from one end to another.
Every suburb is equally crime ridden
There were houses built 2000 to 2010, medium size plots and spacious house
After 2010, new suburb, the plots are half the size, the houses are 30% smaller.
The newer dog boxes are selling for the same price as the older homes.
The older homes are still in good condition.
Newer homes are further for local services
What am I missing?

2023.03.29 12:15 FindusDE How do I say „Thank you that I can live in your home“ to someone I‘ve never met before?
I will go to Korea next month and stay with a host family. I wanted to send them an Email before I arrive to introduce myself and thank them for hosting me. While writing the email, I encountered a problem I couldn‘t find a solution for: How do I say „Thank you that I can live in your home“ in Korean? All translators give me ”당신의 집에서 살게 해주셔서 감사합니다“ or “너의 집에서 살게 해주셔서 고마워요” or something like that. But afaik, “당신” is rarely actually used in everyday Korean and has also connotations that make it unfitting to use in my context, and “너” is informal language, therefore also not an option for me, since I don‘t know the person I‘m writing to. So how could I word this? If this can‘t be directly translated, I‘m also open for alternatives that convey the same meaning. Thank you :)

2023.03.29 12:15 BabiesTasteBest2020 Looking for advice re keep emergency fund or use it to clear some debt
Hi folks,
Looking for some advice.
Background: I work pt/30hrs and I have £5k saved as a 3 month emergency savings. I have £7999 in car loan left (APR is 7.3%) and roughgly £6 in a personal loan that is interest free. I pay £290 for my car each month and £180 for the personal loan.
I have been making overpayments of £200 or more each month to my car loan and should repay it by next year. After that my focus will be building the emergency fund and paying off the personal loan which i'm less worried about.
I am wondering if it is wise to use the £5k to pay off the majority of the car loan so that I can repay this sooner as it is a big chunk of my income. I WFH so only make small trips a few times a week however I am disabled and live in a rural area so need a car.
It might seem obvious to keep things as they are and have a financial buffer if i lose my income but i am also impatient to clear that loan. I also have ASD/ADHD so money can be tricky but I am really motivated to be debt free and to stay that way in the next 2 years.
If I keep things as they are I plan to put my savings in a fixed ISA I can't touch.
I grew up in a very unstable home where both parents were/still are bad with money and whilst I've not been bad with money (I did have a yrs worth of emergency funds and was investing before my disability/cost of living/energy crisis wiped that out). So I'm anxious with debt i guess.
Thank you in advance.
TLDR: £5k savings, roughly £14k debt, should i use savings to clear my high interest car loan or keep it as emergency savings. Also i am overpaying on my car by £200 a month and will clear this by next yr.

2023.03.29 12:15 m3tz0 Where do you guys look for " cheap " parts?
I am looking to build a sim racing rig for my father who just became a pensioner.
Randomly browsing through subs and forums as I always do , I keep reading and hearing about mythical used sim racing equipment sales , or charitable giveaways and what not.
But in reality , where I look , and especially after the inflation craze that started all these years ago , I can't seem to find anything that requires a second job to afford.
Where do you guys look for decently priced sim racing parts. Do you have websites or sellers or whatever in particular you can share?
I should probably mention I live in Europe , so anything from the U.S.A won't do.

2023.03.29 12:14 JustBoatTrash On Long and Variable Lags in Monetary Policy
https://www.atlantafed.org/about/atlantafed/officers/executive_office/bostic-raphael/message-from-the-president/2022/11/15/long-and-variable-lags-in-monetary-policy Starting in March, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) has raised the federal funds rate six times—from a range of zero to 0.25 percent, to a range of 3.75 to 4 percent. In June, the Committee began reducing the Fed's holdings of securities, shrinking the balance sheet, another tool to pull money out of the economy and thus slow inflation.
For numerous reasons, it is difficult to predict exactly when these policy moves will significantly reduce the inflation rate. I will discuss here one of the complicating factors that is especially salient, the "long and variable" lag between a monetary policy action and its impact on the economy, and on inflation in particular. As the November FOMC statement noted, for the first time in this policy tightening cycle, the Committee will consider lags as it determines the pace of future increases in the federal funds rate.
The funds rate is the interest banks charge one another for overnight loans from their reserves at the Federal Reserve. It influences rates lenders charge borrowers. The basic idea is that higher borrowing costs will slow overall demand in the economy, which in turn will reduce inflationary pressures.
That happens gradually. A large body of research tells us it can take 18 months to two years or more for tighter monetary policy to materially affect inflation. You may be wondering: Why does it take so long?
The US economy is a vast, complex ecosystem of interrelated forces. So, it takes businesses and consumers time to recognize, feel, and act on changes in financial conditions. For instance, firms are continually making capital investments that require financing. If a company has already started to build a factory or introduce a new product line, it will often continue to move forward rather than halt the project in midstream, even though financing costs have changed since it launched the venture.
The bite comes for planned projects or expansions down the road; companies may be less likely to start these. Also, we know pricing decisions for many businesses not only hinge on current costs but are also what we call "sticky"—they don't change often even as economic conditions shift.
Both examples make clear that it can take many months for these decisions to affect the economy and prices.
To be sure, there is considerable uncertainty about how these policy lags will play out. We are still learning about an economy that is rapidly changing after an unprecedented global pandemic and other surprising events, such as the war in Ukraine, that shocked important economic sectors. In fact, one school of thought suggests that the lags may be shorter in part because of policy guidance that, in effect, allows financial markets to react to policy before we implement it. We tell them it's coming, so financial conditions in the marketplace begin changing in anticipation.
Still, monetary policy unquestionably works with a lag. So, we at the FOMC calibrate policy today knowing we won't see its full impact on inflation for months. In those circumstances, we must look to economic signals other than inflation as guideposts along our path.
Parts of the economy that are especially sensitive to interest rates, such as residential real estate, show the effects of monetary policy first. Indeed, the latest data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis tell us private residential fixed investment—mostly home buying—fell more than 25 percent in the third quarter at an annual rate. Recently, my staff and I have seen clues that tighter financial conditions may be pinching other sectors such as commercial real estate development and banking. By and large, though, it appears tighter money has not yet constrained business activity enough to seriously dent inflation.
Because today's inflation is a by-product of an imbalance between supply and demand, our job at the FOMC is to bring them into better balance. We will achieve this by attaining a monetary policy stance that is sufficiently restrictive to return inflation to our target. We are not there now, and so I anticipate that more rate hikes will be needed. How will I know when we are close to that mark?
I will need to see indicators of broad-based easing of inflation.
There are glimmers of hope. After the pace of increases in goods prices accelerated in every month but one for 19 months, it slowed in July, August, and September, the last three months for which data are available, according to the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, the FOMC's preferred inflation gauge.
We will need to see increases in services prices slow, too. So far, we haven't. The PCE price index shows the pace of monthly increases in services prices ticked up in three of the past four months.
One key to easing pressures on services prices will be a better balance between demand and supply in labor markets because most service industries are labor intensive. There, recent evidence is mixed. Despite some declines in the huge number of job vacancies, the labor market remains tight as openings still far exceed the number of job seekers. That creates upward pressure on wages.
Right now, job number one for the FOMC is to tame inflation that is unacceptably high. If high inflation persists for too long and becomes entrenched in the economy, we know that more prolonged and deeper economic pain will ensue. So, while there are risks that our policy actions to tame inflation could induce a recession, that would be preferred to the alternative.
But, as I noted in recent remarks, a recession is not a foregone conclusion, and we will try to avoid one if at all possible. And there are many scenarios in which a recession, if it does occur, could turn out to be mild by historical standards.
Once we reach the appropriately restrictive policy stance to tame inflation, I think our course of action is clear. As I explained in this October speech, the FOMC will need to maintain this stance until we see convincing evidence that inflation is firmly on track toward our 2 percent objective.

2023.03.29 12:14 angeltoes333 Should I take a pay cut to exit the mental health field and prioritise wellbeing?
How have you all survived the final hurdle of toxic workplace before entering your new career? What are your thoughts on taking a pay cut to make a career change?
I graduated with a degree in mental health nursing aged 21, coming from a family of mental health nurses and having hopes of making a genuine impact on peoples’ lives. I obtained my first nursing post as a Community Psychiatric Nurse. Within the first day of working in the NHS I quickly sobered to the idea that mental health services are extremely underfunded, and that most of my colleagues did not have the same positive intentions when working with service users. I was lucky to be paired with a female mentor who practiced with integrity, respect and supported me through my 4 years working in the service. Most other nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, and administrators were evidently burnt-out, resentful, cynical, bitter, and unwilling to acknowledge this. They refused to develop professionally or change career paths due to the security of NHS contracts, pay, pension and sick leave entitlement. Workplace bullying and micromanaging was rife, lunchbreaks were timed, consistent staff conflict and on long term sick leave. I witnessed sexual harassment from male nurses towards patients during injection clinics, cynical and judgemental attitudes towards particular trauma-based diagnoses such as personality disorders or suicide attempts. Senior charge nurses would claim “Typical PD Behaviour, let them jump, if they were serious they would have ended their life already”. Any excuse was used to speed up the discharge of chronically unwell patients, the entire field is more focussed on service statistics and litigation than providing safe, effective nursing care. I survived the experience as I was young, introverted and raised in a narcissistic abusive family so very clued up on coping with challenging personalities. I obtained a job within a college aimed at supporting students with their wellbeing during their studies. The office took the news of this very badly, comments were made indicating that I would never be welcomed back into NHS, I was not cut out for a “Specialist” position working within Education etc. I remained calm and professional, it was humorous to witness 50 year old women becoming genuinely upset and fixated on a colleague progressing. I understand that rejection from others is a projection of their own emotions, and protection from a path that is not meant for us.
I have worked in my current job for many years in a service aiming to support disabled students. Education is just as toxic as the NHS. The team has had approx more than £1million in misplaced funding and it has made little to no positive difference to the student experience. Bullying is evident on a daily basis in the office, I do not partake in office gossip of bullying and this makes me an outsider. Management are avoidant, cliquey and openly gossip. In the past months we lost multiple long term receptionists as they were crying daily due to verbal abuse from students and their own manager. They outsourced more receptionists, both were bullied and left within a number of weeks. Office gossip is rife, it seems to be the norm to disrespect and discuss colleagues openly. Staff attitude towards the aim of the service is horrendous; service users attending to voice thoughts of suicide are treated with panic despite clear processes being in place to ensure their safety, colleagues are burnt out and see no issue in statements such as “tell them to go and kill themselves then, if they were serious about it they would have done it”. Managers have been witnessed referring to disabled students as “retarded”, many people attending the service are vulnerable and present with symptoms of self-neglect, our receptionists feel it’s appropriate to gossip about this, cover their noses and spray febreeze in the waiting area. It is a dangerous, immoral, and scary place to work. Senior management are fully aware of the state of the service, do nothing and continue to hire their own friends and family members into positions in the team irrespective of their experience, qualifications, or interviewing process. Many of the service users, due to their circumstances and symptoms, often push boundaries, misunderstand the limitations of support that can be offered (we cannot refer into NHS services, no access to crisis team, bed managers or medical reviews etc). I cannot count the number of times where students with complex needs have harassed staff members, who have been left unsupported. Despite always practicing with dignity, respect, upholding professionalism, and boundaries; chronically unwell service users have threatened to kill me, stalked me, placed complaints over situations out with my control such as academic decisions. Senior management are not clinical, no awareness of the mental health field, risk assessment, the equality act, mental health act, and have no boundaries relating to this. They throw money at new positions believing that 1 staff member will change the culture of an entire Institution. Every colleague that has left due to mental health crises has recovered since leaving.
I regret training in mental health due to the lack of genuine opportunities to engage with clients in a meaningful manner. In the office staff walk around like Zombies, most days I witness a colleague upset or tearful, the others are numb and silent, counting their hours until they can clock off. This has impacted my health significantly, due to work related stress I am repeatedly physically unwell (headaches, anxiety, viruses, chest infections, sinus infections, insomnia). Most people in the office take repeated 6-12 months periods of sick leave with no issue, as absence management and return to work interviews do not take place. Managers are absent, avoidant, do not set standards, take months to reply to basic emails, there are no routine team meetings or communications. I raised all issues noted within the 1st year in post, organised a meeting with the Senior manager and formally documented my concerns. Nothing changed, I was gaslit. I learned quickly that the more competent and caring I was, the more my own team would use this against me to overwhelm me. In a team of 50+ people they would assign the most complex cases to me, no care for my current workload. I released that I have to leave the job this year as likely nothing will change and I will not allow myself to stoop to their low of treating vulnerable people with disrespect due to their unhappiness in personal life and their career choice. I have upskilled myself to obtain qualifications and experience in other fields.
My hope was that documenting this experience on Reddit would support me to evidence the malpractice, negligence, and toxicity of the field and gain advice on how best to proceed. I am introverted, the experience has lowered my self-esteem and I often worry that I am the problem. Recently morale in the office has hit an all time low, I admit that I have been slower to complete admin-based jobs and lost motivation to make a meaningful difference. My life has changed dramatically over the past years. I left the NHS, survived an abusive relationship, survived and escaped an emotionally abusive home, moved in with my new loving partner and created my own peaceful home. Change can be daunting, but I now see that staying in toxic situations of any kind is not an option and that I can and will create my own reality. My current salary is over 44k per year, most jobs I am applying for are approximately 30-35k per year, permanent contracts, better working conditions and less stress associated with the role. Family discourage me from leaving a well-paying and secure job despite the chaos and negligence, they have remained in toxic unhappy work situations which directly impacts their health, relationships, and life satisfaction as they fear the unknown. My loving partner recently left a toxic workplace and reassures me that there is more to this life than this - seeing him progress and feel valued in work inspires me.
I am applying for approximately 2 jobs per week, in the Learning Development field. Please, can anyone provide tips of how to survive in the bleak period between deciding to move and obtaining a job? I am researching good working practices, office etiquette, email etiquette and only applying to companies that I have fully researched employee reviews. Thank you for your time and any advice or guidance that may help.

| No, it's not wrong to bring your cat with you when you move out. In fact, it can be beneficial for both you and your pet. MTC Removals Moving can be a stressful time for cats and other pets -- some may undergo severe stress, depression or anxiety due to the unfamiliar environment. As cats are particularly territorial creatures, being able to keep a sense of routine through familiarity of their home environment will help them feel safe and secure during this period. Having your cat with you in the new place also allows him to remain part of the family which is an important factor in keeping his wellbeing high while adjusting to a new home. Aside from these benefits, there are welfare considerations that come into play as well - animals need love and attention just like humans do - so by bringing him along he will still get the same level of companionship he would otherwise have at home rather than becoming isolated in a strange setting on his own. Additionally, moving out at such an uncertain age means support is more important than ever; having someone (even if they're four legged!) who knows how things were back 'home' can be reassuring during such periods as it anchors one's experiences back into something tangible — your cat! Provided all basic needs are met - daily exercise or playtime activities suitable for indoor living arrangements along with clean litter boxes/bedding help maintain healthy habits alongside adequate access to watefood etc., there shouldn't be any reason why taking him wouldn't work out just fine if done properly too! https://mtcremovals.com submitted by carlaobjj123 to u/carlaobjj123 [link] [comments] |
