For your money, which Mexican restaurant is the best, specifically, in East Austin? Looking for somewhere to “eat in” and sit down (with a guest who is coming to town, so prob not as interested this time in what I am sure are also some very good food trucks).
Thank you! I have some personal standbys, but I wanted to hear others’ thoughts, and see if I’m missing anything great?

2023.03.21 20:14 fabulistt 8 Days Solo Trip in Paris - Lovely Trip Despite Protests, Bugs and Garbage
This was a solo trip but I did have some friends working locally in Paris, so my evenings/dinners were spent with them. I had a great time with a relaxed itinerary, just getting to know the city and spending way more time in the museums than I could have if I wasn't alone. I loved it!
Day 1 (Sunday): Reached around 2pm, struggled to find my Uber driver from the airport. There was tons of traffic and he did not speak English, so it took a while. Managed eventually. Met up with a friend to visit Eiffel and have a little wine and cheese picnic. This is where I got bitten seven or eight times by some buggies and had a pretty bad reaction with swelling and blisters I had to deal with for the rest of the trip. Noted: picnics in Paris are just like picnics anywhere else. Definitely should have brought bug spray. We then walked along the Seine and to Place du Trocadero to get some nice photos. On the crowded bus from here to the restaurant, we both felt like someone had tried to snatch items from inside our pockets. Luckily it was the only time this happened. If you read online you will see this is the most risky pickpocketing area. Had dessert at La Crème de Paris which kind of felt like a tourist trap. They told us to order more food than what we wanted in order to be served. I quickly realized I preferred the vibe of all those lovely cafes we passed by instead of a place like this so I never went to these types of touristy restaurants again. Was a perfectly fine restaurant, just not my favorite experience.
Day 2 (Monday): Enjoyed breakfast at the hotel. I was grateful to have booked an international hotel with breakfast included just because I felt a little overwhelmed by French-only waiters and menus at the cafes. They are really nice cafes everywhere which I loved but at the same time for me it was nice to be able to speak English and feel a little at home in the hotel. Went for Bateaux Mouches tour, walked around nearby looking at then had tea at La Duree nearby where the service was amazing and super friendly. Walked around Champs-Elysees until I reached the Arc de Triomphe, took some photos and then headed back to the hotel to chill a bit before meeting some friends for dinner.
Day 3 (Tuesday): Visited the Cluny Museum, absolutely awesome museum with a section of the museum build inside an ancient Roman bath house. With the audio tour, I spent 4-5 hours inside. Afterwards, I headed to the Pantheon to see the panoramic view, but it turned out that it was closed until April. I didn't think it was worth the ticket so I just poked my head inside to look from the ticket booth and then walked to Luxembourg gardens and then back towards the Seine. Grabbed a crepe and coffee on the way. The streets, shops, and cafes in this area were also charming.
Day 4 (Wednesday): As I was planning for this day on the previous night, many museums had warnings that they may be closed or delay opening due to the protests. Online reservation for the Louvre was also closed. So, I showed up at Louvre without a reservation. It was a mistake! I found the Carousel entrance which had an absolutely insane line. While standing there, I made a reservation for Friday and then found the izi Paris walking tour on Spotify to do instead, which I happened to enjoy immensely. The tour didn't include the Palais Garnier, which is nearby, so when I realized it was nearby I headed over there next. Had a drink on the rooftop of Printemps Haussmann which was excellent. I later learned that Galeries Lafayette has an even better rooftop, will definitely check it out next time. Tour link is here:
https://open.spotify.com/show/5lE6xsGAesT3vr3YnAap4p?si=47cd87c8f36c4879 Day 5 (Thursday): After walking 30k steps the previous day, I needed a break so I headed to L'atelier des Lumières to see the art museum where you don't have to walk! It was a nice and relaxing show. Since the show goes on repeat, I stayed there for a while and researched for the rest of my trip. From there, I headed to Montmartre, climbed to the top of Sacre Coeur, and loved the view. There were a few buggies here too but I had my bug spray. In my opinion this is the best view in Paris. While shopping around in the cute streets of Montmartre, I checked out the Van Gogh apartment (no signage there), visited Moulin Rouge, and enjoyed some drinks under the windmill at Le Bar a Bulles.
Day 6 (Friday): Louvre day. This time, there was no line at the Carousel entrance. With the audioguide, I spent around 6-7 hours inside. Made sure to check off Mona Lisa and Michelangelo first, then headed over to the The Napoleon III apartments and then spent the rest of the time exploring Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Eastern antiquities. Clocked in 20k steps.
Day 7 (Saturday): Versaillles Day. Slept in a little and then headed over to Versailles for 1pm entry. There was a huge queue but it moved pretty fast. I was actually extremely tired after Louvre and didn't care to look at so much more art and sculptures. In fact, I felt there was a lot of repetition between the inside of Versailles and the Napoleon III apartments at the Louvre. If I had to do this again, I definitely wouldn't do these two back to back. I also reached too late to get a golf cart, but would have loved to have one to explore the garden. Also, no fountain show and fireworks in this season. Overall, it was pretty cool but I didn't stay too long because I was tired and musem-ed out. Lots of instagram photo opportunities if you're into that.
Day 8 (Sunday): Shopping and relaxing. I slept in, then went to Chatelier and had a relaxed day of shopping, coffee, crepes and snacks. Also bought a large amount of chocolate and desserts to bring home.
Day 9 (Monday): Return flight. Had an amazing time and can't wait to return with friends and family!

2023.03.21 19:55 Sola_Sista_94 Miu and the Mechanic: Part Six (Fanfic)
"Behold, maggots!" Miu announced as she strode into the living room later that afternoon. "I got a date tonight!" She showed everyone the note she found in her locker earlier that day.
"With who, Miu?" Tsumugi asked.
"Ha! That's the best part!" Miu said. "I got a secret admirer!"
"Ooo! Ooo! A secret admirer?" Angie asked. "What a miraculous mystery!"
"Yeah...sounds pretty exciting," Rantaro agreed.
"Well, duh-doi! Why wouldn't I have a secret admirer? Who wouldn't admire a busty, blonde hottie like me?" Miu bragged.
"Nee-heehee...they're your secret admirer for a reason," Kokichi snickered. "Because they're too embarrassed to admit that they like you."
"SHUT THE HELL UP, YA SHIT-STAINED BUTTCRACK!!" Miu demanded. "Anyway, I'm going to meet my secret admirer at Chez La Vie tonight at 7:00."
"Shouldn't you be getting ready, then?" Ryoma pointed out.
"Yeah, Miu, what are you going to wear?" Kaede asked. "Do you even have a dress?"
"Hopefully one that covers that baboon butt?" Kokichi added with an impish grin.
"What?! I don't have a baboon butt!" Miu spat, and turned her butt to Kokichi. "I got a nice ass, for your information!"
"Nee-heehee...I was talking about your face!" Kokichi laughed. Miu glared at Kokichi.
"You'll see, Ko-coochie! I'll find a dress so frikkin' amazing that it'll knock you off your dick!" Miu spat. She then tromped out of the living room and headed to her room. An hour later, Miu strode back into the living room with a tight-fitting, strapless, bubblegum pink dress with frills at both the top and bottom of it. Her hair was tied up into a ponytail. On her feet were pumps with a slightly darker shade of pink.
"Wooow, Miu! That dress is perfect for you!" Kokichi marveled.
"R-Really? You really think so?" Miu asked in surprise.
"Yeeaahh..." Kokichi said. "...it's garbage!"
"URGH!! Why, you little..." Miu growled.
"You look just fine, Miu," Kaede said. "Here, let me help you zip your dress up." Kaede helped Miu zip up her dress.
"Thanks, Lackluster Rack!" Miu said. "Now, this golden-brained girl genius is off to her first-...er, I mean...100th date, or something! I dunno...I've lost count after dating so many guys and having to break their hearts afterwards."
"Just go, already," Kiyo said. "That garish dress is hurting my eyes."
"Eeeeee...d-don't I look nice, though?" Miu whimpered.
"Gonta think you look beautiful, Miu!" Gonta said with a cheerful smile.
"Yeah! No need to worry, Miu!" Kaito said. "I'm sure your date will be outta this world! Hopefully not before me, though! Haha!"
"You had better hurry, Miu," Kirumi advised. "It would be a shame if you missed your date because you did not show up on time."
"Right! Um...Kaito, don't just sit there! Drive me!" Miu spat.
"Whoa! Would it kill you to say please?! Jeez!" Kaito said.
"Fine! Fine! Take me to the restaurant, now, please! " Miu demanded. Kaito sighed, and stood up from his seat. He led Miu out the front door to his car. Kokichi leaned over to whisper to Himiko.
"Think we can get there using your broom?" he asked her. Himiko nodded silently with excitement. Kokichi smiled, and took her hand as he silently snuck away with her from the others. Ever so quietly, they opened the back door in the dining hall and headed outside.
"I'll be back. I'll go get it," Himiko whispered to Kokichi, and went to her secret, magic room under the gazebo. A few seconds later, she returned already flying on her broom. "Nyeh...hop on, Freakshow!" she said to Kokichi. Grinning enthusiastically, Kokichi jumped onto the broom behind Himiko, and they took off into the sky. They followed Kaito's car to Chez La Vie, where they saw Miu exit his car to stand in front of the restaurant. "Hey, Kokichi? Where do I land? There are people walking around everywhere."
"Hmmm..." Kokichi mumbled in thought. "Wait, you can teleport using your magic, right?"
"Nyeh...I prefer the term 'apparate,'" Himiko said.
"Pfft...tomato, tomahto," Kokichi replied. Then, he pointed to a couple of bushes in front of a bank that was closed. "Anyway, how about we apparate into those bushes across the street from the restaurant?"
"Mmm...okie-dokie! Hang on," Himiko replied before snapping her fingers. When she did, Kokichi and Himiko ended up behind the pair of bushes in a blink of an eye. Across the street, they saw Miu still standing outside the restaurant, waiting for her secret admirer.
"What's taking him so long?" Kokichi muttered, and turned behind him to see a clock tower next to the bank. "It's 6:50."
"What happens if he doesn't show up?" Himiko asked.
"Oh, he'll show up," Kokichi said. "He thinks that Sonia's integrity is on the line, and he'll show up for her sake."
"Nyeh? What do you mean by that?" Himiko asked.
"I told Kazuichi that if he doesn't go out with Miu tonight, I'll take Sonia away from him by convincing her to join the dark side that is my organization," Kokichi replied.
"I see!" Himiko exclaimed. "That's pretty clever, Kokichi!"
"Why, thank you, Himiko!" Kokichi replied, kissing the back of her hand. They turned their attention back across the street, where they saw Miu checking her watch over and over as the minutes went by. Just when it looked like she was about to give up and leave, Kazuichi exited a bus in a neon yellow-green tux and walked up to Miu.
"There he is!" Kokichi and Himiko exclaimed in hushed unison. Himiko uttered a spell so that she and Kokichi could hear what Miu and Kazuichi were saying.
"Kazuichi?! What're you doin' here?!" Miu asked.
"Wh-Whoa! What's with the hostility?" Kazuichi replied. "I thought you were expecting me!"
"Why the hell would you think th-" Miu began. Then, she paused and stared at him. "Are you...my secret admirer, then?"
"Y-Yeah...um...I guess so?" Kazuichi replied, not knowing what she meant by "secret admirer." But he figured that Kokichi must have had something to do with it. "Er...I mean, yeah...yeah, I am!" Miu looked as if she didn't know whether to be flattered or disgusted.
"Well...I guess it could be worse," she muttered.
"Could be worse?!" Kazuichi exclaimed. "Hey, the least you could do is be glad that you have a secret admirer at all! If it weren't for me, you wouldn't be out on this date!"
"Eeee...well, you don't have to yell at me!" Miu whimpered.
"I'm sorry, Miu, but, if you toned your ego down a bit, I wouldn't have to yell," Kazuichi apologized.
"It's hard n-not to have a big ego when you're a girl genius with a golden brain and a busty body," Miu said. "I'm basically the whole package!"
"See?! It's that type of attitude that makes other people not wanna be your friend!" Kazuichi said.
"Th-That's fine! I don't need friends, or anything like that!" Miu said. "Why have friends when I have a golden brain?"
"If you didn't think you needed friends, or anything like that, why were you excited to go on this date?" Kazuichi pointed out. Miu opened and closed her mouth as if searching for an answer.
"Who said I was excited for it?" she asked defiantly.
"Well, you look like that," Kazuichi replied, gesturing to her outfit. "You got yourself all glammed-up just for this date, right?" Miu looked down at her outfit, and blushed.
"D-Do you think it looks n-nice?" she asked in a timid voice.
"Yeah, I really do," Kazuichi replied. "I haven't been able to keep my eyes off of you ever since I came here. Er...not to sound creepy, or anything."
"Well, what are you w-waiting for, th-then?!" Miu asked. "If I look this hot, take me inside, already! I'm starving, and I didn't dress up like this just to stand here and air my dirty laundry in front of everyone!"
"Why not? She literally does that at home," Kokichi muttered to Himiko, who giggled.
"Jeez, you don't have to be so rude about it," Kazuichi said. "But yeah, you're right. Let's go inside." Kazuichi opened the door for Miu, and the two walked inside the restaurant. Kokichi and Himiko looked at each other with excitement.
"Nyeh...it's working!" Himiko exclaimed.
"Yeah! Let's follow them in, shall we?" Kokichi replied. He took Himiko's hand in his, and led her across the street, and into the restaurant.

2023.03.21 19:39 Gaming_N_Whiskey Bardstown Trip Recap
We regularly see posts in
bourbon asking for Bourbon Trail trip recommendations. My wife and I just returned from a trip to Bardstown, and I wanted to offer you guys some feedback on our experiences. Hopefully you will find them useful for planning your own trip to Bardstown.
First, a very special "thank you" to
u/Old_Riff_502 . Old Riff always posts very useful information in the forums. I also privately messaged him and I was amazed with the amount advice that he provided on the area. I don't think we would have had nearly as a excellent of a trip had it not been for him. Thank you again!
Hotel: We stayed at the La Quinta Inn & Suites from Wednesday evening until Sunday morning. The hotel was new, clean, and offered free breakfast every day (although we never actually ate it). The hotel is easy to get in and out of. It seemed like we were only a five minute drive away from anywhere we were trying to go. However, it's not very centrally located. You're not walking anywhere important from the hotel. The other knock on the hotel (and this seems more just industry standard these days), is that we never had anyone come in to do a room refresh at all during our trip. Nobody took out the trash, refreshed room coffee, or soaps/shampoos. That being said, I would not mind staying here again at all!
Distilleries (listed in order or preference): - Kentucky Cooperage - I know it's cheating....this isn't technically a distillery. But hear me out. Kentucky Cooperage is located in Lebanon, KY which is maybe a 30-minute drive from Bardstown. It may have been my favorite experience of the whole trip! The visitor's center is very unassuming; it looks like a small store in a strip mall. But the magic happens when you are shuttled across the street to walk the factory. Watching these craftsmen create bourbon barrels was impressive! The skill and meticulous attention required for each barrel was very cool to witness. I think this was one of the cheaper tours as well at ~$15.
- Jim Beam - Beam Made Bourbon - The James B. Beam distillery is located in Clermont, KY, which was a 25-minute drive from Bardstown. Although it does feel sterile and corporate feeling at times, I had an excellent time! The tour runs like a well oiled machine! Our tour guide Terry was knowledgeable of the distillery and the area. The sheer scope of the Jim Beam operation is mind boggling! Many generic distillery tours start to get repetitive. But I thought the Jim Beam tour was one of the best. The site and setting are really cool. There is also a spot where you can select a bottle of Knob Creek 9-year single barrel and watch it get filled through the bottling process. You can then take home your bottle for $60. The tasting was probably my favorite of the trip. We were given Jim Beam White Label, Basil Hayden 10-year, Knob Creek 9-year, and then a bourbon of your choice - Bakers 7, Legent, or Knob Creek 18-year. The store had some interesting bottles. There was a distillery exclusive experimental batch of something which looked to be about 250 mL and was $70. When they opened that had a bottle of Little Book and a bottle of Booker's for sale. I missed them both. There were plenty of bottles of Knob Creek 18-year which were selling for $180, and there was a Jim Beam Lineage which looked fancy but was selling for ~$280. I spoke to our tour guide after the tour for a bit. After the tour you walk back down through the gift shop and I noticed them putting another bottle of Booker's on the shelf. I was able to purchase this for $100. So it seems like they do restock some items throughout the day. There is also an excellent restaurant on site called the Kitchen Table (more on this later).
- Bardstown Bourbon - Rickhouse Tasting - This was a very unique experience. Bardstown Bourbon is a very modern facility, and the experience feels different from many from the long established brands. This tour was done in a very cold rickhouse (apparently they are always cold). Our tour guide gave us an overview of Bardstown Bourbon as a brand and some of the things they are working on. We then proceeded to get samples poured directly from the barrel via a whiskey thief. We tried a wheated bourbon which he said is part of their Origin series, a regular bourbon (which was not released yet), and a 95/5 rye. We then proceeded to go to a speakeasy type tasting room to for our last sample of Fusion #8. This was followed up by a walk back to the gift shop where we were told we would get to keep our sample glasses. The restaurant's food looked wonderful but we didn't eat. There were also a TON of pours available at their bar. I was interested in purchasing the Origin bourbon, but he said that they were sold out. I later found one a Total Wine. They did have quite a few bottles for sale though - many of Bardstown collaborative releases, Bardstown only releases, as well as bottles that use Bardstown to make their bourbon.
- Maker's Mark - We did the standard Maker's Mark tour. The grounds were great! Very hilly and picturesque. Unfortunately, we were visiting in the winter, so it was not very colorful. But I could see this being amazing in the spring or fall! The history explored was very interesting. The tasting was wonderful, as I always enjoy Maker's Mark. We tasted regular Maker's, Maker's Cask Strength, Maker's 46, Maker's 46 Cask Strength, and a French Toast stave select. We purchased a bottle in the gift shop and we were able to hand dip it which was pretty cool. I was hoping to have lunch here, but their restaurant was being redone. They had a tasting bar opened which offered a limited selection of Maker's pours and cocktails. I really enjoyed the Makers 46 cask strength, and was hoping to buy a bottle. But that was unavailable. They had standard Maker's bottles for sale, Maker's 46, standard Maker's cask strength, and a Blueberry stave select bottle for purchase. We chose a standard Maker's with a limited edition label where some of the proceeds support women's education.
- Wilderness Trail - This is a bit of a hike from Bardstown - probably about 45-minutes. But I thought it was well worth the trip! Wilderness Trail is a very modern facility. They really put an emphasis on the science behind the bourbon. I thought it was very cool to learn about the variety of yeasts utilized by Wilderness Trial. This was a pretty generic distillery tour. The tasting is done in the gift shop, which got a little loud at the end due to another tour coming in. We tried a wheated, a higher rye, a cask strength, and their rye. To me, much of Wilderness Trail's rye comes off as minty, and that is a turnoff for me. But their high-rye standard bourbon was a favorite of mine! We spoke to the tour guide after the tour, and he said "I've got something for you to try". We tried a three barrel blend of master distillery selected bottles - one wheated and one high-rye. I liked the high-rye and purchased a bottle for about $65. They also had a limited release for a program they are doing with the Frasier museum which was available for purchase. It was a 6-year rye (it might have been 7-years, I forget at this point) for $135. Not being a fan of the rye, I passed on this.
- Heaven Hill - You Do Bourbon - This was a pretty cool experience! Heaven Hill's distillery was CROWDED with people. It seems to be a very popular stop on the Bourbon Trail. The You Do Bourbon experience was pretty pricey at $40 per person. But it was also really cool! We would each have the opportunity to purchase a bottle of our choice at the end of he tasting. 20 of us were taken back to a classroom setting, and we got right to tasting. We each had four samples in front of us - Bernheim 7-year Barrel Proof, Larceny Barrel Proof, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, and then Heaven Hill Select Stock 14-year. I don't know much about the Select Stock. They did say it was 14-years aged in a high floor of the rickhouse and it was wheated. The tour guide gave us the hard FOMO sale on the Select Stock - it's only 25 barrels, it's exclusive to the distillery, once it's gone....it's gone. It also had a price tag of $200! I was disappointed that we had so much wheated whiskey or low rye options on the tasting. But the Elijah Craig was wonderful! I purchased a bottle of it for about $80. I bottled it up using an idiot proof machine, corked it, and my wife drew up the labels. It was a very cool experience! There was a bachelor party full of what my wife and I affectionately refer to as "Bourbon Bros" who bought into the FOMO. They purchased probably 12-15 bottles of the Select Stock on their own! Kentucky must love these tour groups!
- Four Roses Bottling Facility - This is kind of near the Jim Beam distillery, and I think it's worth popping your head in and checking out. We did this, and their gift shop had a Master Distiller selected private barrel of OESQ for $105. I've yet to try it, but I am very excited to!
- Limestone Branch - We stopped in here for a quick flight. The flight they gave was very generous: Minor Case Sherry Finished Rye, Yellowstone 4-year, Yellowstone Toasted, Yellowstone Single-Malt, Yellowstone Hand-picked, and their gin. This is one of the things I like best about Kentucky, you can try before you buy! Had I not been given this option, I would have purchased the Toasted and Single-Malt. I would have been disappointed with both of these purchases. Ultimately, none of these selections were for me. But it was a cool experience nonetheless.
Restaurants/Food (listed in order or preference): - The Kitchen Table - This was my favorite restaurant this trip! The Kitchen Table is located at the Jim Beam Distillery. Prices are very reasonable, and the food is fantastic! We tried appetizers: Pulled Pork Empinadas with white BBQ sauce (which was the best thing I ate all trip!) and Pimento Cheese and some Peppery Jelly spread (also great!). We tried the Burgoo which was good. And their burger was excellent! There are also some great Jim Beam themed pours and cocktails available. I had some of the "Kentucky Tea" Booker's which was just too good! I would have eaten here all trip if it was closer!
- Mammy's - This is in downtown Bardstown, and we really enjoyed it! It's just great southern cooking. We ate their for breakfast one day. We had biscuits and gravy, and eggs and bacon. We also went back for dinner one night and had a BLFT with Pimento Cheese, Hot Browns, and fried cornbread. I'm drooling as I type just remembering how great this was! The bar also has a ton of solid bourbons and decent prices. They even have live music certain evenings.
- Quick Stop - Old Riff swore by this place, and he nailed it! The Quick Stop is just a gas station on the way out of Bardstown. But they service awesome Jake's Country Sausage biscuits to go. This country sausage is just too good! We ate their on our way out to the Kentucky Cooperage and again on the way to the airport.
- Hadorn's Bakery - This place is a hole in the wall serving donuts. They had one of the best jelly donuts I've ever had. Very solid.
- Cozy Cottage - This is located by Maker's Mark. It's a total dive, but the food was decent and prices were fine. I got a burger, the wife had the pot roast special. I could take it or leave it.
- Herradura - This is a Mexican restaurant in Bardstown. It was actually pretty good! The food was decent and came out very fast. Like most places in Bardstown, they had a hell of a bourbon selection at reasonable prices.
- Sedona Taphouse - This was actually over in Lexington. They had a large amount of draft beers which I enjoyed. I also took advantage of the pours of Booker's for $15 and Stagg Jr for $10. Food was good as well.
Overall: We had a wonderful trip. We really enjoyed our time at Bardstown. Old Riff and the advice he provides on this forum is invaluable! Listen to this dude. There was a couple that hired a driver one day and we saw them at four of their five stops (the only thing they did that we didn't was they did a chocolate pairing at Lux Row). They paid $900 for their chauffeured experience! Ours basically cost us the price of admission plus a few hours poking around on Reddit's boards and distillery websites.
A few tips for those considering a visit to Bardstown:
- Personally, I don't think you need a driver. The distilleries don't give you more than 2 oz on a tour. We weren't looking to drink a lot at the distilleries. But with some of the bar selections available at the distilleries it would have been easy to get carried away. That said, know your limits. If you are going to be drinking more than the 2 oz given at tastings, consider hiring a driver.
- Reserve ahead of time, especially on weekends! Our Thursday tours were pretty empty. Sometimes there was only an additional couple or two on our tours. But the Friday and especially Saturday tours were much more crowded.
- Don't get caught up in FOMO. There are plenty of bottles for sale at area liquor stores well above retail. There are also quite a few limited or distillery only releases. These don't necessarily equate to bourbon you will enjoy. Don't buy something just because it might be the only time you'll be able to get it.
- Try before you buy! It's pretty easy in most cases to get a pour of something before committing to a whole bottle. You'll find a bottle which sounds like it might be your thing is actually something you don't enjoy.
- Take the time to talk to people. There were definitely people that were there to "hunt" bottles. You could just feel the eye rolls by employees. These people walk in, ask for a bottle, and walk out. You're in Kentucky! Sit back and experience whiskey for yourself! Try a pour of something you've never heard of based on the recommendation of a stranger at the bar. Trade stories of restaurants/distilleries/attractions you enjoyed during your day. You might even get the inside scoop on something that you may have missed otherwise.
- Bardstown outside of peak season lacks off hours attractions. We also could have missed them. But we found that most attractions and even locally owned shops opened at 10am and closed at 4pm. There wasn't much to do in the evenings other than pony up to the bar. It's fine, but a little variety would have been welcome. I'm told it's a little more lively in season. But we definitely enjoyed the smaller crowds.
Anyway, that's all I've got! If you're planning on visiting Bardstown anytime soon, I'm genuinely envious. It's a wonderful place. Thanks for reading!

Lol.

2023.03.21 18:52 nostone3241 The connection between Freemasonry, Indian residential schools, the Indian wars, the Indian removal act, the Indian act and the Indians-as-Israelites theory.
My name is Thomas Saul, I am a member of the
Skatin Nations tribe in British Columbia, Canada. I am of
Salish, and European descent. I began this project around May 2021 when news broke about the
Kamloops residential school where the remains of 215 children were allegedly found. As a teenager I briefly Attended Norkam secondary in Kamloops, and have friends and family who still live in Kamloops, so this hit close to home. Upon my research into The origin of this residential school I found that
Israel wood Powell, a Freemason, was the Indian Superintendent at the time it was built. Four generations of my family attended residential schools, some in
Port Alberni and some
Mission City, so naturally I wanted to know more. I have come to the conclusion that Colonisation,
Freemasonry, and residential schools go hand in hand. Its a Fact, both the United States and Canada would not exist without Freemasonry, Therefore many Freemasons played a leading role in the genocide of Indigenous Americans. “Freemasonry, as it exists in various forms all over the world, has a membership estimated at around 6 million worldwide.”
Genocide: The UN definition, which is used in international law, states that genocide is: "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group," as such:(a) "Killing members of the group;"(b) "Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;"(c) "Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;"(d) "Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;"(e) "Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."
The supreme governor of the Church of England is the head of the Church of England, a position which is vested in the British monarch. The father of the
Royal Proclamation of 1763 King George III was not a Freemason, George III had announced that the colonies would
no longer seize Native lands or purchase them without treaties. Starting in 1763, no English settlers could legally travel through or acquire land west of the Appalachian Mountains. The proclamation specifically stated that Native Americans had been subject to “great Frauds and Abuses” and that their sovereignty should be protected. Freemason Thomas Jefferson in his list of 27 grievances accused the king saying “He has excited domestic Insurrections among us, and has endeavoured to bring on the Inhabitants of our Frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known Rule of Warfare, is an undistinguished Destruction, of all Ages, Sexes, and Conditions.’’ Thomas Jefferson did this to build support for the revolutionary act that the Declaration of Independence would represent. It was suspected that the Freemasons were behind the
Boston Tea Party, the
American War of Independence, the french
revolution, and
Napoleonic France triggering British prime minister William Pitt’s
, the Unlawful Societies Act of 1799 where he aimed to see Freemasonry abolished. Some Freemasons addressed Pitt explaining how vast their membership is and its connection to Royalty and As a result, Freemasons were excluded from the Act, but lodges were obliged to return a list of members to the local Clerk of the Peace every year, which are recorded in the Quarter Sessions.1. King George IV reigned from the death of George III until 1830, he was the first of many British Freemason kings and was the head of the Anglican church.
William IV,
Edward VII,
Edward VIII,
George VI were also masons. In the 209 years since the Union of the Premier and Ancient Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England, a member of the Royal Family has been its Grand Master for more than 150.
A Freemason warrant of constitution is the Document which authorizes or gives a Warrant to certain persons therein named to organize and constitute a Lodge, Chapter, or other Masonic Body. The first Warrant for a military Lodge was issued by the Grand Lodge of Ireland in 1732 to the First British Foot Regiment. Within a few years the Grand Lodge of Scotland and both the Grand Lodge of England, Modern and Ancient were issuing Warrants to military Lodges. In 1733, 18 men gathered at the Bunch of Grapes Tavern on King Street in Boston and organized the first Masonic Lodge in North America. The first record of a military Lodge Warrant being issued in the new world happened during the French and Indian Wars. It was issued by the then Provincial Grand Master at Boston to the 28th British Foot in an expedition against the French at Crown Point. Edward Cornwallis became founder in December 1748, of a military Lodge in his regiment, the 20th. Foot, No. 63, on the registry of the Grand Lodge of Ireland. The warrant was issued to Lord George Sackville, Lieut. Col. The Hon. Edward Cornwallis and Captain Milburne. When in 1759 this famous regiment gained new honors at the battle of Minden, that name was immediately adopted as the name of the lodge. Cornwallis’ second lodge was founded in Halifax early in 1750 or possibly earlier, under a “deputation” or dispensation from Major Erasmus James Philipps of the 40th. Regiment at Annapolis Royal, Provincial Grand Master for Nova Scotia under Henry Price of Boston. Of this lodge, known as the First Lodge, Cornwallis was the first Master. Cornwallis In October 1749, issued an order that came to be known as the Scalping Proclamation. His government would pay a bounty to anyone who killed a Mi’kmaq adult or child in a bid to drive them off mainland Nova Scotia.
Sir William Johnson, an agent for the British Indian Department met
Joseph Brant, a 9-year-old Mohawk boy while doing a land deal with Joseph's father King Hendrick. Sir William eventually started a common-law relationship with Joseph's sister
Molly giving him incredible power over her tribe. Johnson groomed young Joseph Brant to become a loyal warrior and eventually leader of
the six nations tribe. At 13 years old Joseph accompanied Johnson on his first tour with the military. Missionary
Samuel Occham, a student of
Eleazar Wheelock (father of
The Great Awakening) procured a 19-year-old Joseph Brant to attend
Moore's Indian charity school in Lebanon Connecticut with the blessings and charity of William Johnson. Freemasons Benjamin Franklin and Benedict Arnold had also donated money to Wheelock’s cause. William was the British Crown's first superintendent of Indian Affairs for the colony in 1756 and Joseph Brant was appointed as a captain in the Indian Department. Many Freemason colonists were high-ranking military who waged many wars on the Indigenous American population, scientists say so many Indigenous people were killed as a result of colonization it caused a
mini ice age. After the North American wars, many Freemasons took positions as Indian agents helping to remove and segregate the native population. Anyone who wanted access to the six nations had to go through Indian agent Sir William Johnson and his family which includes the Brant family and the Kerr family through various marriages.
At one point Johnson proposed that the moor's Indian Charity School move from Lebanon, Connecticut, to Johnstown but it never happened. Eventually, Johnson withdrew the support for Wheelock. In a letter Wheelock had suggested to Lord Dartmouth "The Nations will not make war with us while their Children, and especially the Children of their chiefs are with us”
Dartmouth college claims that In 1766, Johnson was invited to join the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts (SPG), the largest and most influential Anglican missionary society in the 18th-century British-Atlantic world. He began working to place Anglican missionaries like Freemason and
bishop Charles Inglis, rather than Congregationalist and Presbyterian ones, among the Six Nations. I believe Moore's dubbed “the great design” was the original model for the Mohawk Institute and the Canadian residential school system.
On April 10, 1766
Sir William Johnson was raised to the position of Master Mason of St Patrick's Lodge No. 4 where many Freemason Indian agents like
John Butler,
Guy Johnson,
Sir John Johnson,
William Johnson Kerr,
Christian Daniel Claus, Gilbert Tice, George Croghan and A protégé of Reverend
Eleazar Wheelock,
Rev. Samuel Kirkland attended. In 1770 Johnson's fellow St Patrick's lodge Freemason Rev. Samuel Kirkland coincidentally parted ways with Wheelock and Moors charity school. Eventually Kirkland founded the
Hamilton-Oneida Academy as a boys' school in central New York. In 1776 Joseph Brant was initiated into the Freemason fraternity in London England where it is rumoured a benefactor of Moors charity school
king George III gave Brant his masonic apron. When Brant returned to Canada he became affiliated with Lodge No. 11 at the Mohawk village on the Grand River, of which he was the first
Worshipful Master, and later affiliated with Barton Lodge No. 10. Joseph Brant invited fellow Freemason and grandson of Eleazar Wheelock to be a minister to the Mohawk. To Joseph It was imperative that Freemason
Rev. Davenport Phelps was made minister of the Mohawks, so
he reminded the Bishop, through Sir John, of the pledge which the Archbishop of Canterbury had made to him in the presence of the King, that whenever the Indians, by the erection of a church, should be ready for religious instruction, he would do all in his power to supply their wants. A Freemason named
Rev. Robert Addison helped make this happen. Mr Addison, a relative of William Johnson, had been minister to the Six Nations and Joseph Brant and Freemason
John Norton were his translators. Freemason Reverend Davenport Phelps and Jarvis Wheelock, the brother of Eleazar, were invited to Canada and granted land by Freemason and founder of the family compact
John Graves Simcoe, the man behind the
Simcoe patent. Mrs Simcoe in her Diary says, “In April of the following year
Mary Brant (sister of Freemason Joseph Brant and common-law wife of Freemason Indian agent Sir William Johnson) successfully prescribed a favourite Indian remedy, the root of sweet flag (acorus calamus), for Governor Simcoe, who had been extremely ill with a persistent cough. The medicine relieved his malady “in a very short time. This brought the Brant family and Simcoe family close together. Davenport Phelps became the Worshipful Master of The Barton Lodge under Freemason
William Jarvis and he was the first chaplain at the Mohawk Chapel. Davenport was the leader of many Indian agents who were members of The Barton Lodge. I suspect Davenport's mission was to help with the so-called Indian problem.
Chief Joseph Brant has been accused on many occasions of selling off land for his own enrichment and in a lot of cases he sold land to Freemasons. He granted 999-year leases to many families, the Nelles, the Young’s, the families of Adam Young UE, his three sons, Lieutenant John Young (Indian department) UE, Sergeant Daniel Young UE, and Private Henry Young UE, along with Captain Henry William Nelles UE and his families (Rev. Abraham Nelles). Many of these Indian agents were members of The Barton Lodge. Both Captain Henry William Nelles UE and Adam Young UE, fourth great-grandfather of Robert Collins McBride UE, were also the first Freemasons to settle in Haldimand County. Freemasons
Robert Kerr and Rev. Robert Addison, William Kennedy Smith, also had land there. "There were very few outright legal sales of our land; 90 per cent of the leased land has never been paid for or paid to Six Nations," according to a
research document prepared by Six Nations. Many Freemasons were involved with the Simcoe patent and the
Haldimand Proclamation. Lieutenant Governor
John Graves Simcoe stated that the Indians could not lease their land since British subjects could lease land only from British subjects. Freemason
William Jarvis signed the Haldimand proclamation,
Freemason Thomas Ridout surveyor-general was behind the Ridout survey, Freemason
Sir Peregrine Maitland lieutenant governor informed them that they had no title to the northern part of the grant, Freemason John Butler acted as an agent of purchase on behalf of the government, F
reemason chief John Brant) and
Freemason Robert Johnson Kerr finally went to England to lobby on behalf of the Six Nations.
Freemasons King George IV, and King William IV, reigned from January 29 1820 to June 20 1837. The idea of residential school was brought forward by the Freemason Governor of Upper Canada, Sir Peregrine Maitland, within the context of a proposal he made in 1820 to the Colonial Office "for ameliorating the condition of the Indians in the neighbourhood of our settlements." Maitland's proposal contained most of the civilising concepts and techniques that would be adopted in the next three decades. The American Freemason, President Andrew Jackson succeeded in pushing the
Indian Removal Act through the United States Congress in 1828 leading to the trail of tears. John Brant solicited help from the New England company to build the Mohawk institute, the first residential school in Canada. The mohawk institute operated from 1831 to June 27, 1970. John Brant appointed Rev. Abraham Nelles son of Freemason Robert Nelles as principal of the Mohawk Institute. Abraham after over 30 years was succeeded by Freemason Robert Ashton
. Oronhyatekha aka Peter Martin was also a Freemason and played an important role in the development of the Mohawk Institute. The Arthur of the
Historical sketch of the Barton Lodge, No. 6, G.R.C., A.F. and A.M., says “the name of Brother John Brant is connected with important events in the history of Canadian Masonry.” John Brant is responsible for the formation of at
least 12 residential schools in Ontario, while Freemason Israel Powell the superintendent of Indian affairs in British Columbia Powell
“was able to boast that the government had established seventeen Indian schools, one for each year in office.”. Powell sought to establish several boarding schools across the province and particularly pushed for creating a school in Kamloops to address communities in the province’s interior. The school opened in Kamloops in 1890 and became one of the largest residential schools operated by Indian Affairs. The Freemason Organisation is
vicariously liable for all abuses in those residential schools.
In 1837 a Rebellion in Upper Canada was led by William Lyon Mackenzie, who was a fierce critic of Simcoe’s
Family Compact, an elite clique of businessmen and many Freemasons. Mackenzie opposed a system of land grants that favored settlers from Britain. Many Freemasons such as William Botsford Jarvis and
Sir Allen Napier Macnab who was Joint premier of the Province of Canada helped stop this rebellion. Sir Allen Macnab was succeeded by Freemason
Sir John A. Macdonald as Joint Premier. This Rebellion of 1837, this triggered the 6th generation Freemason Lord Durham to write
The Durham Report, he was appointed governor in chief of British North America. In his 1839 Report on the Affairs of British North America, he recommended that Upper and Lower Canada be united under a single Parliament, with responsible government. In 1863 a steamboat named
the Brother Johnathan) carried
smallpox from San Francisco to British Columbia killing 1/3rd of the Native population. Many Freemasons like
Thomas Harris the first mayor of Victoria,
Israel Wood Powell who served in the Victoria Rifle Volunteer Corps which was established to protect the colony from the indigenous population,
Amor De Cosmos who was the extremely racist editor of
The Daily British Colonist, and Ronald J. NcDonell clerk for
magistrate Pemberton who forced The Nuu-chah-nulth to leave their camp, escorted by two gunboats. There are many many more who may have purposefully mishandled the smallpox epidemic of 1863. British freemason
Edward Jenner created the life-saving smallpox vaccine but on the other hand Freemasons Jeffrey Amherst and Col Henry Bouquet have been accused of distributing
smallpox contaminated blankets to their enemies.
As early as 1866 Israel W. Powell, with his colleague Amor De Cosmos, had proposed confederation with the Canadian colonies.
Israel Wood Powell, Superintendent of Indian affairs also outlawed potlatching an indigenous ceremony In British Columbia. Following the Lord Durham’s report, Freemason Henry Howard Molyneux Herbert, 4th Earl of Carnarvon proposed
The British North America Act, 1867 Under section 91(24) of the Constitution Act, 1867, the federal government has exclusive legislative authority for "Indians, and Lands reserved for the Indians." Of the 36 Fathers of the Canadian confederation, 11 were Freemasons. One being Freemason Sir John A. Macdonald,
He was named by the United Grand Lodge of England as their Grand Representative near to the Grand Lodge of Canada. Sir John A. Macdonald took a page from American Freemason
Andrew Jackson's book by removing the Indigenous people from their land. He was proud that he was able to subdue the Indigenous people with less blood shed than his American brethren. One Of Macdonald's Legacies is the
Canadian Pacific Railway which displaced many tribes across Canada. Sir John A. Macdonald's campaign promise in the 1870s was that he would have a railway built that would link the country from coast to coast. Freemasons
Richard Marpole,
Sir Sandford Fleming,
Sir George J.A. Bury And the Chinese Freemasons of Vancouver and Alberta made Macdonald’s promise come true. As quickly as the railroad was laid Freemason lodges were erected.
Louis Riel a Métis hero, led two resistance movements against the Government of Canada and its Freemason Prime Minister, John A. Macdonald. Riel sought to defend Métis rights and identity. The Wolseley expedition was a military force authorized by Sir John A. Macdonald to confront Louis Riel and had been dispatched to Red River under Freemason
Colonel Garnet Joseph Wolseley. Another of Mcdonald's legacies is the
North West Mounted Police. Macdonald established the N.W.M.P in 1873 which boasted 750 Freemason members in its time. He claimed that “it was intended to have a body of mounted rifles to protect the people from the chance of an Indian war.’’ Meanwhile, The Pacific Scandal, the first major post-
Confederation political scandal in Canada,
Sir John Macdonald and senior members of his Conservative Cabinet were accused of accepting election funds for the contract to build the C.P rail.
The near completion of the railway allowed troops from eastern Canada to quickly arrive in the territory causing Riel to surrender to Canadian forces. The NWMP barracks was where Louis Riel was detained after his arrest in 1885 for leading the North-West Rebellion. Many Freemasons were involved in the defeat of Louis Riel. The RCMP museum had a display of the noose which hung Riel. Macdonald said this about Riel "He shall die though every dog in Quebec barks in his favor." John A. Macdonald is also one of the fathers of the Canadian
Indian act First passed in 1876. In 1879 Freemason Nicholas Flood Davin wrote the Report on Industrial Schools for Indians and Half-Breeds, otherwise known as The Davin Report. An amendment to the Indian Act in 1894 under Freemason Prime Minister Sir
Mackenzie Bowell, made attendance at
day schools,
industrial schools, or residential schools compulsory for First Nations children, resulting in over 100000 Indigenous children being forcefully removed from their families by Indian agents and the RCMP. From 1740 to 1896 The Mexican government's response to the various uprisings of the
Yaqui tribe have been likened to
genocide particularly under Freemason
Porfirio Diaz. Due to slavery and massacre, the population of the
Yaqui tribe in
Mexico was reduced from 30,000 to 7,000 under Diaz's rule. One source estimates at least 20,000 out of these Yaquis were victims of state murders in
Sonora. It was during this period of the conflict that the United States Army fought the last
battle of the
American Indian Wars, the final battle being the Wounded Knee Massacre December 29, 1890, and in the subsequent Drexel Mission Fight the next day. In recent history the statues of Freemason John A. Macdonald, Freemason Edward Cornwallis, Freemason George Washington, Freemason Lawrence Sullivan Ross, Freemason Robert E. Lee and Andrew Jackson have all been vandalized but no mention of their affiliation to the Freemasons in the news. We can't point fingers at the church or government without first confirming whether or not the accused are Freemasons.
The Order of the Eastern Star,
Job's Daughters, and
Rainbow Girls are masonic fraternities for women such as the daughter, widow, wife, sister, or mother of a Master Mason. All masons will cry out that Freemasonry has nothing to do with what an individual member has done, yet they all praise these men and prop them up as heroes. Freemasons claim to have superior morality compared to the average person, that they are the most honorable men on the planet, yet they refuse to acknowledge their members role in the genocide of the Indigenous Americans.
You may believe Freemasons are irrelevant nowadays but that is far from true. Winston Churchill is regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th century. Churchill was initiated into Studholme Lodge No. 1591 on 24 May 1901. He said of the Pashtun people “all who resist will be killed without quarter,” Pashtun territory was occupied by the British in 1848 and divided into two areas. Winston Churchill's policies caused a famine that claimed more than 3 million Indian lives during the The Bengal famine of 1943. President Harry Truman, known as one of the most dedicated men to have joined Masonry on the morning of August 6, 1945, ordered an American B-29 bomber to drop two atomic bombs over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The two bombings killed between 129,000 and 226,000 people, most of whom were civilians. John Edgar Hoover, more commonly referred to as J. Edgar Hoover, was an American attorney and director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Hoover was raised on November 9th 1920 in Federal Lodge No. 1 in Washington D.C. In 1919 Hoover became the head of the Bureau of Investigation's (predecessor of the FBI) new General Intelligence Division. The division was also called the Radical Division because it was the task of the division to find radical elements in American society to monitor and disrupt their activities. The Duke of Kent was initiated as a Freemason in Royal Alpha Lodge No. 16 in London on 16 December 1963.
The Duke of Kent, is now UGLE’s longest-serving Grand Master. The Duke’s brother, Prince Michael of Kent, is also a Freemason and is Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons, and Provincial Grand Master of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Middlesex. On 6 March 1953, HRH Prince Philip progressed to the Second Degree of Freemasonry, before advancing to the Third Degree on 4 May 1953.
I encourage those who have been affected by the actions of Freemasons to begin a class action lawsuit against this organization in what ever country, state or province you live in and hold Freemasonry accountable for genocide. The first thing a Freemason will say when presented with this evidence is you don't know how masonry operates, that the lodge is not responsible for individual members actions. That is exactly what the Catholic church said before the Canadian Court of Appeal on July 28, 2020 had found the Archdiocese vicariously liable for abuses committed by a civilian employee. I witnessed countless people stand up against the Catholic Church for what they have done and the Pope came to Canada and apologized. Now it's time to turn your sight toward Freemasonry. You must understand that all Freemasons on the American contenent have greatly benefited from the genocide of Indigenous Americans.
