So, I got a 96 Ranger 2wd that started howling. NTB listened to it with their stethoscope for $60 and told me pinion bearings. I took it apart, and had a hard time seeing bad bearings. The guys at my local independent auto parts store agreed. I replaced the front pinion bearing (closest one to flange, right?), probably did the preload wrong cause I got a cheap torque wrench, measured the backlash, put it together, aaaaand it still howled around 15-20 mph. Replaced axle bearings, still howled. I decided to replace the rear pinion and ring gear bearings just to cover all my bases. When removing, the spider gears fell out, and I noticed a broken shim on one. New set ordered. Then my parts store guy (they remove and press on the pinion and ring gear bearings) called me to say he felt a strange wear pattern on the pinion gear and also suspected the shim under the pinion bearing was not spec.

1. Will a shop be able to machine the pinion gear or do I just order a new set (around 150 on rock auto)?
   
2. Does the new one come with the correct shim?
   
3. If I rent the $100 torque wrench from autozone to do the preload right, measure backlash on multiple gear teeth, and paint the gears to check contact pattern, what are my chances of doing this correctly?
   

I'm good with taking it to a shop to check my work when done. Do they do this? I'm happy to pay for their time. I really want to learn to do this myself.

ETA: Okay I just found a post here on nashville which clarified that I shouldn't face any big consequences (the comment from the user "freemytree" made me feel better, I'm not sure how to tag that user to thank them though because I'm very much a Reddit newb), but I would still like to know what will happen in the ticket situation.... Soooo I may be massively overthinking this but I am a champion-level overthinker so that's normal for me. If I'm not overthinking it though, I'm super worried that I made a huge mistake.
I got my registration renewal notice prior to my license plate (the original old white and green one) expiring in October, but I really did not want to get the new standard TN plate (the dark blue one) because I wanted to get a specialty plate instead. However, you have to go to the county clerk office in person if you want to get a new specialty tag which, between my work schedule + traveling a lot for work + being out of the country for a chunk of the winter, I did not have time to do until today (I know, I know - I could have forced a way to make time.... but I didn't and I can't go back and change that now).
Yesterday, I came back to my legally-parked car and was surprised to see a ticket - it was for having an expired registration. I was annoyed because I knew I was planning on going to get my new plate today, but I couldn't have known that a cop would see my plate and ticket me while I was at work the day before I was planning on (finally) getting a new plate.
So I went to get the plate today and I mentioned that I had been out of the country for a chunk and was sorry that I was so late getting the registration renewed. The gal who helped me was super understanding and handed me an affidavit to sign stating that I had not driven the car (it also said had not received any citations) since the registration expired as if that was totally fine - I told her that I had in fact driven the car but she just said "yeah it's fine, thanks for your honesty but it's all good, just sign this" and I honestly didn't know what to do at that point so I just didn't mention the ticket. Then she deactivated my old license plate number, I paid for the new license plate, and I left (absolutely panicking in my overthinker brain). I tried to pay the ticket online, but it wouldn't go through. I even called the ticket office people and they said it just isn't in the system yet and to try again next week.
My question is this - am I going to get into serious trouble if it becomes clear that I'm paying a ticket on what is now a deactivated license plate because I signed that form?? Or is it more likely that I will just pay the ticket and move on with my life and everything will be fine?

TL;DR - Didn't renew license plate after it expired because I wanted a specialty tag, got a ticket on my parked car yesterday for expired registration, got a new tag today and was made to sign a form saying I hadn't driven or received a citation on the car and was told it was fine even though I told the lady that I had driven it, now I'm worried that I'll get into serious trouble trying to pay the ticket on my now-deactivated old license plate.

EDIT: Some progress. It seems the Pixel was several months behind on both security and play system updates. Updating those has allowed me to progress through place where I was stuck previously, but now, once I select what data I want to transfer, it says copying data, then immediately fails to copy everything, and I can't seem to get it to actually copy. I've tried a couple different cables to no avail. New thoughts would be appreciated!
TL;DR: Trying to copy data from iPhone to Pixel 6a, keeps getting stuck preparing to copy data, tried a miriade of things to no avail, looking for suggestions if anyone's experienced something similar.
I'm not sure if anyone has a solution or thoughts to this, but I've already searched the subreddit history and haven't found anything helpful.
I'm helping someone set up their new 6a from their old iPhone SE 2, and every time I get to the "copy data" page, I get stuck. I plug the two phones in together, and it acknowledges they're connected but then when it gets to "preparing to copy" it just spins endlessly and makes no progress at all.
I've tried multiple different cables (both USB-C and A), and even factory reset both phones (then resetup the iPhone from an iCloud backup).
Obviously some data can transfer manually, but the key thing missing right now is that I have no other way to transfer their entire text message history, which is why I can't use the wireless transfer setup.
We've been working on this for the better part of 3 days and had no progress. Of course, when talking to Google support, their only suggestion is to call Apple to have them help, and obviously Apple (understandably) says to call Google, so that support loop is entirely unhelpful.
If anyone has anything to try that we maybe haven't tried yet or has dealt with something similar please let me know. I've loved Pixel for years, but for a first time user this is becoming a truly heinous experience.

So I'm still fairly new to bass, been playing for a little while and absolutely loving it, and I love my trbx504, think it's just wonderful.
I was thinking of picking up a cheap second bass to learn to do maintenance myself, and to modify and make my own, so was wondering about some solid bases (lol) to start off with where I can change pickups, maybe wiring, tuners, bridge, controls, etc and just build up to something fun and unique, and different than my 504? Might even end up changing the neck if I can find some affordable ones. Will also act as sort of a practice run for things like changing strings, doing a full setup on my own and all that kind of stuff, so then I'll feel more confident doing it on my nice, expensive (to me) main bass.
Was thinking a cheap passive pj (maybe just a p bass) to have a different option and set of pickups, give a bit of tonal variety, so I was looking into a full scale ibanez talman which I can get for around £200. There's also cheap Harley Benton basses that can go all the way down to like £95, and some east cost basses which are in the middle. Squier affinity series are also around that sort of price range I believe. If someone has any reason that a j bass might be better then I'll definitely take a look into some, but I really like that mids heavy bass tone that seems to be very common with p pickups. Think the talman is probably my first choice right now despite being on the more expensive side, I think they look great and ibanez is a big name so the quality should still be decent.
For pickups I really like the sound demos I've heard of the dimarzio model P's. Don't really know much about bridges or tuners, so that'll be fun to research but switching to something lightweight could be good just for playability.
Was also thinking maybe a 5 string? I listen to a fair bit of metal and heavy rock, and 5 strings just offers lower options without having to mess with the tuning on my yammie. Maybe even something short scale lime the TMB35.
If anyone has any ideas for additional mods that I haven't thought about I'd love to hear them? Or any mods you've done to your own bass that were/weren't worth it and why? Just seems like a fun little project that will end up with me having two nice, different basses.

Hi all, I have my first medspa consult this Thursday. The clinic is recommended by a doctor friend who goes there and looks super natural/not over done so I feel confident in their safety and reputation.
I’d love to know if there were/are questions you know to ask or wish you had asked when you first embarked on things like Botox- or other MedSpa services?
I’m 38, primary concerns are fine lines and signs of aging, with potential interest in laser for hyperpigmentation down the line. I’m especially concerned about looking not like myself so want to go very light handed.

Looking for advise on refinishing our kitchen table. It's had a lot of abuse mostly from our kids and I want to get a few more years out of it. I'm struggling to tell if this is actual laminate or veneer. I would like a "wood like" finish. If it's veneer I feel like I can just sand it and then re-stain and seal it. Laminate seems more tricky? Anyone use that chalk paint or liquid wood before? I watched a few videos of people using them but not sure how they last. I attached a link of the table.

I'm not a fan of how a lot of fics (and even canon) focusing on their relationship will retcon it to be gentle, if distant as if they didn't argue heatedly in episodes 2 and 3 like they'd been doing it for years. I think Obi-Wan cares about Anakin and just doesn't know how to handle him and I think Anakin wants Obi-Wan's approval, but is naturally rebellious, requiring more discipline.
I don't need to see that dynamic specifically (that's my own take on it), but I would like to see more fics that show how tense their relationship was while showing that they at least tried to make it work. Or in cases of angst, showing how their lack of connection led to the breakdown of their friendship. (No shipping fics pls)

I was looking at running an adventure with dungeon crawling and a Hex-crawl, and one of the things I'd like to focus on is resource management. D&D 5e doesn't have a great system for managing resources over the span of a day or the span of weeks (an expedition), so I was looking to homebrew a lot of solutions into that if I end up running it in 5e.
I was instead looking at running this in Pathfinder, and hoping there might be some prebuilt solutions for me.
Some vague ideas I had in 5e, to kind of show what I'm looking for: Remove magical conjuration of food and water. Limit magical healing to use hit dice and reduce hit die recovery while resting in the wilderness. Increasing death saves until death, but only recovering them with bedrest.
Pathfinder 2e seems to provide a lot of out of combat healing, and I've read that it is balanced for combats expecting the party to fully or nearly fully heal between each fight. I don't know enough and don't want to touch that balance, so I'm just wondering if there is a standard "overlay" that doesn't break the parts of the game that are well balanced, but adds an additional layer of resource management over the course of a single adventuring day, and something that adds resource management over the course of an expedition. As I see it now, the only two daily resources a party has are time and non-focus spells. An martial party seems to theoretically be able to keep going all day with treat wounds between fights.

I’m trying to find a book that is based around a group of friends (possibly childhood friends) who all have psychic abilities or something of the sort. Just for general ideas of genre, I’m into horror and mystery. I’m not a major fan of romance, but some is fine. Stories/novels that take place in small eerie towns are even extra my thing! I love heavy/dark subjects. I’m sure what I listed may bring up some YA books and that’s okay, though recently I haven’t been able to connect with YA (I’m in my twenties, though that’s not to say that thirty, forty, fifty— etc years of age can’t read YA, we’re all different!).

So, I'm working on an animatic. It's finished, and I want to export it as a movie. After confirming the frame rate and size, the loading pop-up shows, but no file is created. Any idea why this is happening?
I tried to export another file, and that one exported without any problems, so it's just this one. Also tried taking out the sound, as that's helped me before, but not this time

I’m in debt, my doing went on a manic spending spree. I thought it was under control, but now as I’m trying to get my finances in order, I’m just feeling shut out at every turn. I can’t see an end and we’re facing some food insecurity. The Risperidone doesn’t seem to control the anxiety, and I feel wired. On top of that, I have a son who has severe ADHD, and have a meeting with his school psychologist today, who’s convinced he has an intellectual disability. He led his first diagnosis with his IQ, mind you ADHD skews those goddamn tests. I have a hard time trusting psychologists anyway, and though I want to be there for him, can’t get past the idea that this guy’s a fucking quack. Any encouragement helps at this point, I’m going to talk to my therapist after the meeting, but honestly I’m strongly considering going to a hospital afterwards.

Hi everyone, first post ever and I need some advice/questions answered. Apologies if this post does not meet certain etiquette or if it is formatted strangely.
I rent a room in a house from a rental agency along with 6 other people. None of us knew each other prior to moving in, as the agency handles all of the roommate “hiring,” so to speak. Our leases are quite simple, and many changes have been made without tenant input without modifying leases, including how added bills such as electricity and trash are handled. But that’s not the real issue.
My current problem with this company is that, two weeks ago, I came home from a brief vacation to find that they had replaced our doorbell with one of the camera doorbells, yet I had not been informed or given any links to access said doorbell. The doorbell would ring throughout the house just as the old one did, but it seemed like the camera didn’t work, as the power button was flashing red constantly for the past two weeks. Today, unprompted at 11 a.m., workers entered our house to install a wifi extender to connect the doorbell to. This made me finally contact the company, and they told me this verbatim: “The usage of the camera will assist for any missing/stolen packages, confirmation of vendors attending the property as well as in case a roommate needs assistance,” and confirmed that none of us would have any access to the camera program.
This implies to me that they are capable of storing video information to access at a later point, and most of these things send out a notification to the program when the doorbell is rung. They did not confirm or deny that they would receive notifications, so I assume that any time the doorbell rings for food deliveries, packages, etc., they would receive one. Additionally, it seems as though they would be able to access any point in time and surveil it regardless of whether or not the camera has been “activated” due to a doorbell ring, such as in the case of a stolen package.
However, as this was done without any roommate’s consent, and without an amendment to anyone’s lease, I do not think any of this is legal. I especially do not want this company to know how often packages are received, the faces of any visitors or guests we may have over, makes and models of cars, etc. Is there anything that can be done about this? Is it legal?

Personally, I feel like Petra could take the whole thing. Claude might have enough schemes to make it to the end, but I don't think he would win. Bernadetta and Lindhart I could see stepping off the platform early. Ignatz is one of the first to go. Sylvain takes on a sort of Finnick role. Ferdinand would be too proud, and that would get him killed. The Capitol would love Dorthea, so she would get lots of outside help.

My boyfriend (20M) and I (20F) are currently in a long term relationship that became long distance when I moved away for university - we started dating right after high school so we've been together for a couple years. I'm in my second year about a three hour plane ride away from home. He works full time in the trades. I love him but the problem is all we ever talk about is our plans for the day (never changes), missing each other, sex, when I'm coming home next, or complaints about work. It drives me crazy. We do have similar interests to some extent, like we both enjoy watching sports (there's more but this is just an example) but there's only so much you can talk about with that stuff. It's exhausting. I don't find myself enjoying our video chats or calls anymore because it turns stale and all about sex. I love our sex life but I don't want to hear about it constantly, especially when I'm not aroused. He doesn't get involved in current events or anything and so I feel like we don't even have the ability to have these conversations at all. I'm getting resentful and annoyed often but I don't know how to bring this up without hurting his feelings. Does anyone have any suggestions on new convos to start or how to bring this up in a gentle way?
TLDR: my boyfriend and I keep having the same bland conversations and I'm tired of it.
