We are a married couple who both have experience with polyamory and are interested in finding someone who desires a shared, poly-exclusive relationship.
Some of the more important things to us are that whomever we end up with is someone who is interested or supportive of homesteading. I hate how my mother threw the great life we had I hate the screaming and yelling that came from them I hate how my mom has got so many chances to leave my dad she complains about how he's horrible and will ACTUALLY leave him this time after we become homeless but I know it will always stay like this until I move out I still can't fathom how my mom was able to be so selfish to throw a life where we were all happy just for herself she will never admit she was wrong I just hate it

On 3/29/23, I posted a Craigslist ad for help putting together an office chair. The posting clearly stated that the job was $25/hour with a maximum of 1 hour. Rich of A-Z Property Solutions in Wilmington, DE agreed to the price before I gave him my address. He came to my house and assembled the chair, but, as he was leaving, he told me that I owed him $55. I rejected that, but he pressed that I should pay him $55 because a different guy canceled on me. One had nothing to do with the other! He was just trying to rip me off. I'm a single woman, I walk with a cane, and I live alone. I was afraid that he would hurt me. I was just an easy target for him. I paid him $30 just to get him out of my house. On the way out, he had the nerve to start telling me things he could fix for me! I hope I never see him again.

I (31M) have quite a large family. My mother has 3 brothers and my father has 2 brothers and 3 sisters, each one of them is either married or divorced and has at least 1 children. Most of them live in the same town I live but one of my cousin, Martha (32F) lives on the other side of the country. I used to get along with my cousin but she distanced herself from her parents over 10 years ago and now she has a job that keeps her very busy, so I basically met her only once or twice in the past 10 years. We call each others at least once a month.
I have been dating Laura (30F) for the past 6 months. She is a wonderful woman and, until recently, we had never argued before. She knows my parents and my sister and, in the same way, I only met her parents and her brother.
Last Saturday something happened: I woke up to a phone call from Martha. She told me that she was on a working trip and would pass by my town that morning and told me we could take a coffee together and chit chat for a bit if I was free. I agreed and we met that morning. Nothing particular happened. I was happy to meet her after a long time, we talked for a bit, hugged and parted.
That afternoon I was supposed to pick up Laura for dinner, so I went back home, prepared and went to pick her up.
When I arrived at her house, she basically blew up on me, accusing me of cheating. I didn't know what she was talking about so she showed me her phone. Apparently Lucia, one of Laura friend, saw me with my cousin, took a photo of us hugging and sent it to Laura and she thought Martha was a woman I was cheating with.
I talked to Laura about my cousin in the past but I suppose I guess I never showed her a photo so she had no idea what she looked like.
So I took out my phone, showed her I was calling my cousin and, once Martha answered, I had her confirm she was the woman I met that morning.
Laura calmed down and apologized. The rest of the afternoon was a bit awkward and we called it a night quite early.
Since then, though, I have been thinking about what happened and don't know how to feel. On one side, I can understand the misunderstanding. On the other side, Laura didn't even doubt I was cheating. She didn't ask me about it, questioned me about meeting someone that morning. She directly blew up in my face.
I don't know if it's something worth bringing up again with Laura or if it's better to just brush it off and let it go.
I also don't know how I should behave in front of Lucia. We never argued before and I don't think I ever gave her or Laura a reason to suspect I wasn't faithful, yet they immediately jumped to that. I need advices on how I should act.

I know this is a jump cloud subreddit, so answers may be a bit skewed, but here's the deal:
We're a 70-person architecture firm; just started hiring some in-house engineers. Always been Mac with the occasional Windows machine. Windows is becoming more of a thing, primarily because the engineers need them, and too many business and A/E apps are windows only and we're tired of constant workarounds. We'll be hybrid for a while and possibly mostly Win in a few years, but it's not like we can shut down for a month to switch everything over so I'm looking for a way to slowly grow my windows deployments. We're definitely a place that embraces "organic change."
I spent a few days tinkering with GPM and I'm reminded why I hate MS. I've heard of JumpCloud for years but have been wary of giving anything on the cloud access to our internal systems.
How is their security? Can we still install software/systems that aren't on the Jumpcloud "system" (I thinking if they ever get hacked I'd like at least AVG or something installed on my clients that could possibly catch it.
We run Mosyle/Munki for Mac, AD mainly as an internal password server, Kerio for "exchange," FileMaker for all sorts of things (like the aforementioned workarounds), with standard MS Office and Adobe apps, plus Bluebeam and Revit. We also moved from Hyper-V to VMWare over the past couple years, and may be going the Horizon route. Does JumpCloud work well with non-standard combinations of software and settings?
Right now we have a hodgepodge of deployments: regular laptops, Parallels (on Intel and ARM), RDS, and like I said, possibly Horizon, but later. We need to be able to run and manage Windows in various incarnations and VM platforms that will change and morph over time.
So how flexible are they when your strategy is basically to be able to turn on a dime?
I've seen some hit-or-miss info on macOS, but like I said we already have Mosyle and Munki for that for now, but how is JumpCloud with Windows? I mean really? I'm going to sign up for the free trial this summer, but the more info I have the better I can know what to look for.

We were together for almost three years and my dog and I moved out yesterday. I got a mega guilt trip while packing of course and kept engaging even though I told myself I wouldn’t. But the hardest part was as I was about to leave, he cried about how hungry he is and how he hasn’t eaten all day and his stomach hurts and all he wanted was a cup of Wendy’s chili and he’d feel better. I’d been away for a week so there were a few food items in the house left but not much.
He had $0.63 in his CashApp account and $0.43 in his Venmo account. I told him I would not be buying him anything to eat because we’ve been broken up for 5.5 weeks and in that time he has not even applied for a job let alone gotten one, hasn’t applied for any government benefits like food stamps, and pissed away most of the money friends and family sent him for food and other necessities on alcohol. I told him it’s not about the money but that he is 30 years old and these were the consequences of his actions and maybe this is what rock bottom feels like before he makes a change.
I think I did the right thing for myself and for him to stop further enabling but I can’t shake the image of him crying as I left.

My (40F) Mother (73F) always speaks without thinking. She will say anything that comes into her head without the ability to comprehend how it may be received by the listener, and quite often offends/upsets people. I believe that she may have undiagnosed ASD. When challenged she insists that her intention wasn't to offend and that the offended is in the wrong.
This came to a head recently. I went through 2+ years of failed fertility treatment. Whilst I let her know when I started, I asked her not to bring it up in conversation or ask questions about it. Every time I saw her she asked me questions or brought it up in conversation. I reminded her each time that I didn't want to discuss it. At the weekend we were out at dinner and she started speculating on the reasons why I couldn't conceive when the subject wasn't being discussed. Later that day I messaged to let her know that I was stunned she had raised this painful subject again after she had been asked not to 50+ times, and I needed a break from her until she could respect boundaries.
This is the first time in my life I have seen her have any level of remorse. She seemed broken and couldn't eat and didn't want to leave the house. When asked why she keeps bringing it up, she oscillated between denying it and saying "I'm sorry, I just don't think". I didn't want her to be so sad, so told her that I forgave her.
Whilst I understand people with ASD struggle with empathy/understanding other people's emotions - is it typical to bring up a topic after being repeatedly told not to?

Hi, I'm wondering what folks here do about laundry stains from hard water. At first I thought it was my machine, or using too much detergent, but it looks like it's the water that's leaving white streaks in my darker clothes.
I've been getting around this by doing a second load with 1-2 cups of vinegar + hot water after washing them with detergent.
Usually they shrink back to normal size in the dryer, but I can't imagine that's good for fabrics in the long run. Plus the extra time/energy spent on an additional load (pre-washing with vinegar doesn't seem to work).
Do I need to install a water softener for the entire house, or can I specifically do something with the laundry machine?

Hi all, I just went searching for a sub that i thought could maybe help me dealing with this specific problem and found you all. My dad is an alcoholic, has been my entire life (23F). In August of 2021 my mom passed away suddenly after a 2 week battle with Covid and being on a ventilator. She was always the level head in my dads life, keeping him from doing or saying anything that would really damage his life in a huge way (can’t really think of a better way to phrase it). She was the light in his otherwise dark existence giving him hope for a good future. Regardless of my fathers drinking habits we’ve always had a fairly good relationship and have been close. Shortly after my moms passing i found out i was pregnant with a baby girl. Me and my fiancé have been together for 4 years and i always thought he was well liked by my family. When i was roughly 6 months pregnant my dad is over at my house after he had been drinking for a few hours and starts falling down in my kitchen floor, then decides to start an argument with my fiancé telling him that he can’t marry me because he isn’t religious and so on and so forth. Shortly after i have a big talk with him about staying sober if he wants to stay in my life and my babies life once she gets here and he promises he will. He actually does a good job of keeping his promise until my baby is about 3 months old. He starts drinking again heavily and texting me telling me that my fiancé is a liar and that he doesn’t actually want to marry me because if he did he would’ve done it already, that he would rather me not have my daughter and not be with my fiancé than for me to have her and stay with him, just pretty much berating my fiancé and threatening to call the cops on him etc. Just drunken threats and generally angry messages. Because of this he has not seen my daughter since she was about 3 months old- she is now 7 months. I’ve tried going no contact with him, having the “you need to stop drinking, reflect on who you are…” talk so many times at this point that it’s just infuriating, but at the same time I know he’s hurting. The loss of my mom shook his entire world, he’s trying to figure out how to be alone again and he’s depressed. He’s apologized over and over and said he will change but i don’t know how i’m supposed to forgive him and just let him back in my daughter and mines life. My fiancé wants nothing to do with him and does not want him around our daughter at all ever because of this. I understand why he feels this way but i can’t help but feel incredibly sad at the thought of my daughter having nothing to do with her grandfather and how much it would/has hurt him not getting to see her. He (dad) keeps saying that if he can be around us he won’t drink and i keep telling him that he needs to stop drinking before he can be around us.
This turned into a long post and i’m sorry. If you made it this far, thank you. I don’t know what i’m hoping for, maybe just an outside point of view. If anyone wants any more info just ask, i know this is mostly a ramble.

The first one is a movie where a couple are either drug addicts or acoholics or both, but recovering, and they have a son who spends some time with a richer, nicer couple due to the parents being unfit to take care of him. if i remmber correctly the mom mentions something about the neighborhood they live in having a good school. There is a scene where the mom pours vodka/alcohol down the drain in the kitchen and her husband/the dad gets violent, but she's doing it so they can get back custody of their son (he's like 5-7 years old). At the richer couple's house, they mention something about the son having to take a bath. Either he's never had a proper rich person bath before or he hates baths, i cant remember.
His biological parents, the screwed-up ones, then kidnap him and its super dramatic but then the parents/mom is like "you guys should raise him, we're too screwed up".
im pretty sure its from the early-mid 2000s if not the 90s. it's a sort of family dramatic, kinda sappy movie if i remember correctly.

the other one is even vaguer. it's a movie about three siblings, i think one youngest sister, a brother in the middle and then a youngest one who's still a kid. they're in the foster system and are temporarily placed with this couple who couldn't have kids or something, and initally would just like to have one kid, the youngest, maybe? and then the drama toward the end of the moie is that they're going back/into the foster system and they'll be separated but then the couple adopts all three.

Violence is on the rise in Chicago, and lawmakers are looking for ways to drive those numbers back down. One stat that has drawn attention in recent weeks is the city's number of carjackings. According to Chicago police, carjacking surged by 134 percent for 2020, bringing the total to 1,415. Rep. Marcus Evans Jr. (D), whose district covers Chicago's South Side, wants a sales ban to minors on violent video games like Grand Theft Auto. Evans is proposing an amendment to an existing 2012 law that prevents the sale of violent video games to minors. Illinois House Bill 3531 (HB3531) has been updated to add the following language:
Modifies the definition of "violent video game" to mean a video game that allows a user or player to control a character within the video game that is encouraged to perpetuate human-on-human violence in which the player kills or otherwise causes serious physical or psychological harm to another human or an animal...
Modifies the definition of "serious physical harm" to include psychological harm and child abuse, sexual abuse, animal abuse, domestic violence, violence against women, or motor vehicle theft with a driver or passenger present inside the vehicle when the theft begins.
The above-bolded text is pertinent to Grand Theft Auto, a widely popular game franchise that allows you to perform carjackings (among other violent and heinous acts). However, what's interesting is that games like Grand Theft Auto and its ilk have been around for decades; this is nothing new. A game like Grand Theft Auto alone couldn't possibly be responsible for the rise in the city's carjackings. Still, lawmakers and city officials are seemingly trying to tie the young ages of some of the carjacking suspects with the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic means that many children are at home, spending more time playing video games.

As a counterpoint to the rumblings in Chicago, a decade-long study concluded that this is no credible link between kids playing violent video games and, in-turn exhibiting violent behavior.

I (20) have recently gotten into a relationship with my partner (19). We started dating at the end of 2023, and it's been going really well. We hang out a lot, go on dates, do things we both really enjoy, etc. But, I'm feeling really overwhelmed with it all, and I don't know how to get over it.
I am a very independent person. I moved out of my parents place two years ago, I deal with any health related issues myself (e.g. hospital or psychologist visits), I do my own finances; in general, I don't need a lot of help. I'm also independent on another level; I have always been single before my partner. I was never really interested in relationships, as I'm asexual. Thus, I'm used to being alone. The way I see it, I don't need a partner in my life to fill up any hole or craving, it's purely as a fun addittion to both our lives. Thus, I'm very picky about potential partners and have never found anyone I like enough until I met them.
Here's where the problem starts: my partner loves me too much. They text me every day, at least 5 times a day, and they constantly want to see me. We usually see eachother once or twice a week, and they like to stay over at my house for at least one night, on top of any activity we might be doing. If it was up to them, I think they would stay the entire weekend. They also send me a lot of tiktoks everyday (like, 20 per day average) and a lot of them are very lovey dovey.
It's all very endearing, and I know I should probably feel and act the same way as that is what I always see with other people, but personally, I feel very overwhelmed by it. I've noticed I've gotten in the habit of ignoring their texts for a while just because I need some time for myself, and because I know that when I respond, they will already have something else to talk to me about. I'm worried I will get feelings of annoyance towards them, which I really want to avoid.
I am very frustrated with myself for not being as excited and crazy about them as they seem to be about me. I do love them, and I want to stay in the relationship, but I just want to get rid of this feeling. Any advice will be very welcome, especially since I've never been in a serious relationship like this before. Do I talk to them about it and possibly hurt their feelings? Do I stick it out? Do I go back to therapy? Help!
