Initial problem: Lower heating element broke, arc'ed out really bad, had to flip the breaker to prevent a fire.
Fixing the problem: After cleaning it up and removing the broken element, everything on the top of the stove still works. Ordered OEM replacement part, replaced it.
New problem: While heating up, the upper element is heating, but the lower element is not heating up at all.
Troubleshooting steps I've done so far:
Tested continuity on the heating element and everything is good there, 22.5 Ohms.
Testing for voltage, on both the upper and lower element I get 120V when touching one side to the heating element's terminal and the other to ground. Is that going to be the problem, should it be 240V?
At the power cord block, black to red is 240V, black to white is 120V, and red to white is 120V
Is there maybe some sort of "reset" I'm supposed to do on the control board?

Hello all, I just received my solo stove and I’ve been a bit underwhelmed with the duration of the fires. They’re beautiful fires, but I’m looking for a way to have long fires at a affordable price. I’ve heard some use saw dust bricks which last long and are cheap. Pellets are another option now, but I hear a 40lb bag only lasts about 2 hours. What are some affordable options for long fires? My grandfather couldn't find my dog Lucy this morning. She's usually inside. We have a dog door, and they (my 2 dogs) go outside to use the bathroom. He takes them out every morning and watches them. This morning was different, as Lucy wasn't curled up on her bed like usual. He woke me up around 8am saying he couldn't find her anywhere inside. I went outside after i threw some warm clothes on, and my dog Rascal led me right to her. Lucy was 13, and Rascal is about 8. She was alive, but shaking really bad. I assumed she'd been out there since 4 or 5 in the morning. She was ice cold. I brought her inside and warmed her in front of the pellet stove. She couldn't keep her head up, she couldn't hold herself up at all. I had to go to work at 9, and by this time it was 8:30 when I went to get ready. I went to work, and got off at 2PM. I went and petted her for about 45 minutes, while bawling my eyes out. I've had her since i was 2. I went to my room with my dog Rascal, for an hour, and i had a bad feeling in my stomach. I went out to my kitchen, where she was laying. She wasn't breathing anymore. I told my pap, while bawling my eyes out like a baby. We went and burried her at my Grandpa's house,where by other pets and pets that they have had pass away are. Now, as i'm writing this, it has been 2 hours since we burried her. I miss her so much, and i'm so sad she's gone. We think she had a stroke or a heart attack, since we could see her what we thought was an enlarged heart. We didn't have the money to take her to the vets sadly. I'll miss her forever. She was a Rat Terrier who was the sweetest baby ever.

Currently those bacon flavored soy pellets hold their flavor bursts the best, however, I hate using them. I've fried bacon bits and thrown then in my brats and they end up reconstituting almost too much with an unpleasant texture. Second problem with them is that the whole brat ends up becoming a light bacon flavor versus little burst of vibrant bacon flavor throughout. Any help with how to troubleshoot this would be appreciated thanks.

TL;DR In my experience, the Recteq B380X Pellet grill struggles to reach and maintain the set point temperature when the ambient temperature is below 40 degrees F. Recteq customer service says it is operating normally. I disagree. I would recommend looking for a different grill if you plan to cook regularly at temperatures below 40 degrees F.
I could write pages, but I'll try to keep it short.
I have had a Recteq 700 pellet smoker for a few years. I like it very much and have not had any problems with it.
I ordered a B380X and assembled the grill in late November or early December 2022. Since then I have attempted to ignite it 18 times.
- 7 of those 18 times it failed to ignite (I should point out that whenever the fire pot was empty I always added 10 to 15 pellets and made sure they were close to the igniter before trying to start it).
- 7 of those 18 times it took 40 to 65 minutes to reach the set point (400 degrees) and had temperature overshoots of 40 degrees or more and temperature drops by as much as 100 degrees.
- In 3 of those 18 attempts the temperature rose to 400 degrees in 15 minutes and was stable thereafter.
On those 3 days the ambient temperature was 52, 50 and 39 degrees F. On all of the days it either did not ignite or took a long time and oscillated about the set point, the ambient temperature was between 26 and 38 degrees. Some of those days were windy, others were not.
A total of 33 emails have been exchanged with Recteq customer service representatives along with at least 4 phone calls. From the start, they made it clear that they were not going to replace the grill, noting that I had had it more than 30 days.
On the phone they walked me through the troubleshooting steps on two different occasions. Both times they concluded that the grill was working properly.
Through the process they have had me do the following things, none of which has solved the problems:
- stir the pellets (they were Recteq ultimate blend) to break them up.
- use fresh Recteq pellets that they sent me.
- adjust the auger setting.
- look to make sure there were 6 small holes around the bottom of the firepot (there are).
- reposition the igniter (at first this seemed to help with the failure to ignite, but the grill again failed to ignite the last two times I tried to start it).
- make sure I had the flame deflector and grill grates installed (I did).
- make sure I wasn't opening and closing the grill as it tried to reach temperature (I wasn't).
- "trudge onward and attempt a few cooks on the grill."
They have said that the temperature profiles "do not look perfect," that one of the charts "looks like an entirely different grill," that "~40 minutes to an hour is quite a while for the 380X to dial in," and that "your climate could have some significant play in the situation." Yet they continue to maintain that the grill is working normally, that they "feel confident that a replacement unit would likely have no impact on this situation," and that "we could consider swapping out a piece of hardware, like your unit’s controller and/or an RTD probe." (If it is operating normally, why do that?) In response to the latter I replied that I bought the grill so I could cook on it, not do repairs on it.
In a 2/9/23 email, the rep said he'd like to call me that day to discuss. I replied at 1 pm that I'd be available until 5 pm. He never called, and he never sent another email.
So I "trudged onward," and had the three good cooks mentioned above. Then I had one where the system didn't hit 400, but bounced up and down around 350, followed by the two back-to-back ignition failures. The failures were on March 7th. I sent an admittedly snarky email that day. Still haven't heard a word back since 2/9.
So, according to Recteq, 3 good cooks (all at temperatures above 40 degrees), 8 cooks where reaching temperature took 40 to 60 minutes and then was not very stable, and 7 attempted cooks where the grill did not ignite is "completely normal." As such, I would recommend that anyone thinking of purchasing a Recteq B380X to use regularly at temperatures below 40 degrees think twice. (I don't have sufficient data to make a recommendation on cooking above 40 degrees.)
Also, if you do buy a grill from Recteq, be sure to thoroughly test it before 30 days are up.
As for me, if I had flushed $782.02 down my toilet, I would be just as satisfied as I am having used it instead to buy a Recteq B380X. I've now given up on the B380X and pulled out my Weber kettle grill - it has never failed to light, in most cases it gets to temperature faster, and it holds temperature as steadily as the B380X. I'm thinking I can fill the B380X kettle and hopper with soil and grow herbs in it.

But after the initial fire starts it will stop feeding pellets until the fire dies then it will start to feed pellets again into a cold burn pot. Im looking to get a couple of pellet stoves this year. One for my step mom who has about a 650 sq ft home and one for my cabin which is about 300 sq ft. Obviously I dont need some 2200 sq ft beast. I always seem to find information about maximum square footage, but is there such thing as finding out about minimum square footage? Does a minimum even matter?

Any recommendations for an installer and seller in this area and best guess to cost for a newer model stove( auto feeder and temp control because I am a noob and grew up with gas heat). I know there is a tax rebate for specific types and I want to utilize that as well.

I have a new Quadra-Fire PS35-C that runs on a thermostat. When I come down in the morning the stove isn't on. The pot has unburnt pellets in it and at the bottom, there is a small block of clinkers. Before going to bed at night I do lower the temperature on the thermostat as I do not need it to be as high at night but it's becoming a nuisance that each morning the basement is freezing because the stove won't turn on. Lately, I just turn it off because I already know when I wake up it's not going to be on anyway. I'm using high-quality New England Pellets currently, it even happened when using Barefoot pellets. Also happens regardless of the feed rate setting.
Any recommendations on what I can do to stop the issue?

So I grew even fonder of it. One of the lads formed an insatiable motivation to lose weight and is now in the best shape of his life. Tripped a few more times in the following years, different places, people or solo. Never rivalling the first but all good times to be sure, but I wanted more. I wanted a little baddie to enjoy it with, as well as cross off a narco-bucket list together.
It Seemed a lot to ask.
But then, I found her! A mutual friend's birthday. Sadly, I was too chickenshit to actually.. make the move.. damn.
But luckily, she wasn't. The night after she followed me on instagram and asked me out ten minutes later. The next three months were crazy. Various trips, substances and wombo-combos with a dear FWB. I was living the dream.
Then it got even crazier. We got an Airbnb for a Friday and Saturday, trying out acid that she got. It was supposed to mimic candyflipping by tab alone(I don't know if it did, based on my recent true candyflip, but this shit was unfuckingreal).
We almost suffocated on the bed from laughing uncontrollably, for almost an hour straight. Good chats, robes all day, pellet stove, just pure vibin'. Then listening to music, cuddling on the sofa we both start experiencing synesthesia. The playlist becomes a light show on the ceiling, and it's beautifully paralysing. We get fossilised there for like 3 hours, chatting, listening, looking.
Finally, we overcome the instilled lethargy by prospect of a joint. An impossible task, but with enough skins for re-dos and patch ups, anything is possible. Her's was 7/10. Incredible talent. Mine was a solid 3.8, but it smoked well and I was happy.
When we get back inside we decide to continue our sonic powered light show in bed. One thing leads to another, you know the story. Followed by more languor and listening, but less language. My thoughts run away with a threat to the very existence of my FWB. Am I in love? Sure fuckin' seems like it. Idiot. We strictly agreed we would call it off if that happened. There's a slight internal panic. My stream of consciousness is unstoppable and there's some kind of sensation underneath that I can feel, directing it. I start to speak to her but she speaks a nano-second after me, and all of a sudden we see eachother. Her eyes wide with a familiar panic, she apologises profusely for interrupting me. I assure her it's okay but I have, in fact, forgot what I was going to say. We laugh, the panic fades. I remembered not soon after, but I didn't ask, for fear of ruining what we had and for looking batshit crazy. We brushed it off, and enjoyed Saturday so much then that we stayed Sunday night, too, with no strange happenings.
I told my friend of this a week later, and while he understands the feelings, fears, and assumptions, he's suspicious of my suspicions. Fair enough, I don't really believe it either, it was just very surreal.
Fast forward one month. I get even STRONGER acid. Our Airbnb pick is tragic, for reasons I can't remember. It's a small room in the owner's small yard, barely big enough for the bed, leaving about 1ft of space to shimmy around to the bathroom. We lay marooned in a bed, in a foreign village during a rainstorm. Few things to do while resigned to a box. We take the tabs and start sinning. I come up for air and all of a sudden, it's two hours later and I am tripping balls. She joins my plane like half an hour later. It's toasty, the bed is comfy af, and bouncy; we have a great time.
Around 11pm(4ish hours in) we chance a joint in the yard, shielded by an encompassing canopy, which collected the rain to continuously let it drop with a cool, rhythmic quality and sound. Thanks to this musical canopy, we're chill af outside in the rain and stay outside for eventual cigs and just overall enjoying being in the rain in our own little bubble.
It strikes again, my brain taken over by this unrelenting stream of consciousness following this background vibe, that I love her and she loves me. The familiar panic.
I lamented my last decision to stay silent for a whole month, I'm gonna say something.
Not verbatim but something like "This might sound crazy but I'm pretty sure I just fell in love with you, and you with me" hahaha

I feel like the world has just been keeping this from me! Did you know about this?! YOU DID KNOW!!"

I agreed it sounded crazy and somewhere along we nailed it down as a certain kind of underlying vibe that we were both connected to. A few times we noticed we hadn't actually spoken to eachother for an extended period of time without realising it, only to interrupt eachother in pursuit of pointing it out. It would feel like we had been talking all along in retrospect, though. We were predicting when the other would suggest joints.
It wasn't all joints and roses though. At some point, deep in, we realised we hadn't said a word to eachother in like forty minutes. Then we agreed it had gotten more pronounced and soon after, almost overwhelming. We thought we had lost the ability to stop it. The sensation was amped and rampant. It felt like pressure up my spine to the back of my skull. She got a headache. We were still joking around. Then I attempted to send a picture to her mind to get her in the mood, it didn't work but we both almost instantly felt better.
All in all the trip lasted about twelve hours, with probably less than three of them having this "telepathic vibe" thing going on. This was all last year, closing in on exactly one year. Most details are fuzzy. These experiences have been percolating for a long time. Sometimes a memory of it will fill me with amazement all over again. I'll admit I can be a stupid person, but thought I was at least a somewhat logical person. I became an atheist of my own accord at like 8 years old. For the last few years I've tried to live as an absurdist psychonaut, embracing the uniformed chaos of this cold, mortal universe.
But then I go experience this kinda shit and honestly, boys.. I have fucking no idea what to believe anymore. Maybe we're both mental. Maybe there are even more parts of the universe hidden from us. Hell, maybe god and heaven are real in the form of some supersoul constituted of the souls of every previously living thing, woven into the fabric of the universe. Who the fuck knows. It did suggest to me some kind of hive mind, both the feeling and the way it worked. I've heard so much about this thing beyond us that people feel connection to, I was always skeptical until this, but now I just don't know. I could sense she was also connected to whatever it is, but she didn't feel anything of the sort.
I don't expect anyone to believe this, or even read it ahaha, it's a relief just to finally put these words down, really. But I'm also hoping other people will have similar experiences?

Then listening to music, cuddling on the sofa we both start experiencing synesthesia. The playlist becomes a light show on the ceiling, and it's beautifully paralysing. We get fossilised there for like 3 hours, chatting, listening, looking.
Finally, we overcome the instilled lethargy by prospect of a joint. An impossible task, but with enough skins for re-dos and patch ups, anything is possible. Her's was 7/10. Incredible talent. Mine was a solid 3.8, but it smoked well and I was happy.
When we get back inside we decide to continue our sonic powered light show in bed. One thing leads to another, you know the story. Followed by more languor and listening, but less language. My thoughts run away with a threat to the very existence of my FWB. Am I in love? Sure fuckin' seems like it. Idiot. We strictly agreed we would call it off if that happened. There's a slight internal panic. My stream of consciousness is unstoppable and there's some kind of sensation underneath that I can feel, directing it. I start to speak to her but she speaks a nano-second after me, and all of a sudden we see eachother. Her eyes wide with a familiar panic, she apologises profusely for interrupting me. I assure her it's okay but I have, in fact, forgot what I was going to say. We laugh, the panic fades. I remembered not soon after, but I didn't ask, for fear of ruining what we had and for looking batshit crazy. We brushed it off, and enjoyed Saturday so much then that we stayed Sunday night, too, with no strange happenings.
I told my friend of this a week later, and while he understands the feelings, fears, and assumptions, he's suspicious of my suspicions. Fair enough, I don't really believe it either, it was just very surreal.
Fast forward one month. I get even STRONGER acid. Our Airbnb pick is tragic, for reasons I can't remember. It's a small room in the owner's small yard, barely big enough for the bed, leaving about 1ft of space to shimmy around to the bathroom. We lay marooned in a bed, in a foreign village during a rainstorm. Few things to do while resigned to a box. We take the tabs and start sinning. I come up for air and all of a sudden, it's two hours later and I am tripping balls. She joins my plane like half an hour later. It's toasty, the bed is comfy af, and bouncy; we have a great time.
Around 11pm(4ish hours in) we chance a joint in the yard, shielded by an encompassing canopy, which collected the rain to continuously let it drop with a cool, rhythmic quality and sound. Thanks to this musical canopy, we're chill af outside in the rain and stay outside for eventual cigs and just overall enjoying being in the rain in our own little bubble.
It strikes again, my brain taken over by this unrelenting stream of consciousness following this background vibe, that I love her and she loves me. The familiar panic.
I lamented my last decision to stay silent for a whole month, I'm gonna say something.
Not verbatim but something like "This might sound crazy but I'm pretty sure I just fell in love with you, and you with me" hahaha
She laughed and said "Relax, bro"
I take her advice, laughing, try to calm down.
Then ladies and gentlemen..
this bitch says "I know, this is like the second time we've done this"
Wide&saucered-eyed I looked at her in disbelief. "You knew!??"
"You didn't?"
She was reluctant to call it telepathy, but she was equally as fascinated and disturbed by it as I was. It was as incredible as it was incredulous, and just as uncanny to boot. We experimented, and quickly found we weren't really communicating through words or pictures, the only way we could describe it was a mutual driving vibe. It was more of an automatic function, when tried deliberately it would get weaker until it would vanish. After a particularily uncanny moment where music helped us get back on automatic for a while, I lost my shit, animatedly exclaiming "Is this love? Who else knew about this?? I feel like the world has just been keeping this from me! Did you know about this?! YOU DID KNOW!!"
"Well yeah, obviously, I was there. I was weirded out like you were, but I didn't want to believe it" she laughed.
"But we should probably stop calling it telepathy."
I agreed it sounded crazy and somewhere along we nailed it down as a certain kind of underlying vibe that we were both connected to. A few times we noticed we hadn't actually spoken to eachother for an extended period of time without realising it, only to interrupt eachother in pursuit of pointing it out. It would feel like we had been talking all along in retrospect, though. We were predicting when the other would suggest joints.
It wasn't all joints and roses though. At some point, deep in, we realised we hadn't said a word to eachother in like forty minutes. Then we agreed it had gotten more pronounced and soon after, almost overwhelming. We thought we had lost the ability to stop it. The sensation was amped and rampant. It felt like pressure up my spine to the back of my skull. She got a headache. We were still joking around. Then I attempted to send a picture to her mind to get her in the mood, it didn't work but we both almost instantly felt better.
All in all the trip lasted about twelve hours, with probably less than three of them having this "telepathic vibe" thing going on. This was all last year, closing in on exactly one year. Most details are fuzzy. These experiences have been percolating for a long time. Sometimes a memory of it will fill me with amazement all over again. I'll admit I can be a stupid person, but thought I was at least a somewhat logical person. I became an atheist of my own accord at like 8 years old. For the last few years I've tried to live as an absurdist psychonaut, embracing the uniformed chaos of this cold, mortal universe.
But then I go experience this kinda shit and honestly, boys.. I have fucking no idea what to believe anymore. Maybe we're both mental. Maybe there are even more parts of the universe hidden from us. Hell, maybe god and heaven are real in the form of some supersoul constituted of the souls of every previously living thing, woven into the fabric of the universe. Who the fuck knows. It did suggest to me some kind of hive mind, both the feeling and the way it worked. I've heard so much about this thing beyond us that people feel connection to, I was always skeptical until this, but now I just don't know. I could sense she was also connected to whatever it is, but she didn't feel anything of the sort.
I don't expect anyone to believe this, or even read it ahaha, it's a relief just to finally put these words down, really. But I'm also hoping other people will have similar experiences?
So I can stop feeling like a complete nutcase hahaha
TL;DR
Multiple instances of a "telepathic vibe" between FWB and me. High strength acid and copious amounts of joints involved both occasions. The real sauce is around paragraph 10. Jesus Christ, I really wish it wasn't this long a story.

I recently replaced my motherboard to my quadrafire pellet fire place It worked great for 4 days and then stopped. I had a fireplace professional come in and he surmised that the thermocouple was faulty, and the reasoning behind this is: Motherboard still lights up, Fire still starts, Motor still dispenses pellets, and thermocouple still ignites, but here’s the issue, the fire stops after about 10 minutes. I have to press the reset button to get it going again.
This fireplace guy we had has gone MIA on us since the diagnosis. He did not specialize in pellet stoves like ours so he could be wrong.
He said he would order the part, that was over a month ago. I’m tempted to just buy it myself and replace it, I know how to take it apart.
Before I do that, I wanted to feel out of anyone has experienced this issue. I’m beginning to think it’s not the thermocouple, but what do I know, this is my first pellet stove
