Hello everyone. I've had my female cat Eevee for almost 7 years...I love her DEARLY. She and her sister Mew were surrenders at our shelter and we got them at 5 years old (they both would urinate/mark their territory on clothing, blankets, and pillows, and anything left on the floor) She was also unfortunately declawed when we adopted her, so we believe the reason she was urinating out the litter box because of this. Mew passed away a few years after we got her, and almost 2 years ago my husband and I moved out of my mom's house. Her marking and urinating outside of the litter box got a little better, but never really went away. Later we got her another sister Espurr (she doesn't like her) and a year later we got a puppy (who she also doesn't like very much) Right now I'm nearing the end of my pregnancy and she has been refusing to use the litter box, like she pees everywhere, and poops specifically in front of me. We moved a litter box upstairs for her (because she recently has been developing arthritis, and she's having a hard time moving around) I'm really at my witts end with her. She's constantly pooping all over the house, on my pillow, on me, tried to on my shoes, on the couch, and she still pees everywhere as well. I have feelaway going upstairs for her because she's stressed about the change most likely. I also have a vet appointment for in 2 weeks. I know we really messed up getting the other 2 pets, but they are all bonded to us. I also really really don't want to rehome her or surrender her, just because I know she'd just die in the shelter. My husband wants to make an enclosure for her, so the dog and other cat can't bother her, and so we aren't cleaning poop up all over the house. She also hides 90% of the day under the bed, she only comes out to eat or poop in front of me. Even when I pet her or try to show affection she isn't interested anymore....and she used to be insanely affectionate. I'm just really heartbroken.
Really any advice would help.

I need help on direct responses to very passive aggressive MIL. I am already very on edge based on how she treated me postpartum. I had severe PPA about my baby’s health and told her that. She proceeded to constantly talk about this sick sick baby. She called my child nosey which my spouse and I didn’t like that negative connotation and spouse asked multiple times for her to stop- she did it more. She’d hover over every diaper change I did and comment - too tight, too loose, wrong size. I’d go to take baby back and she wouldn’t to “give me a break” idk it was the constant comments and challenge to everything. That’s made me question my gut as a mom and then shame for not having mama bear instinct like I didn’t protect my child even if it was as simple as commenting on the diaper so I adjusted when I knew I did it right.
So I need some responses because if she feels challenged she doubles down so I don’t want to do a quick response.
Ex1 Asking her to not let child chew on random spoon. MIL response “I’m not hurting child I would never hurt her I’ve raised my own. Child likes it.”
Ex2 Child sees me and starts to cry MIL response “no, child. You’re a faker, fake cry fake cry.” My response was “it’s okay child I missed you too!” Idk if that was the best response
Ex3 says she has snacks for child. I say “oh thank you’ve brought these. This is what I would like child to eat.” MIL response “are my snacks not good enough?”
Ex4 MIL says you and spouse go out to dinner I will watch child. Or she says I’m watching child on X you and spouse make plans. I don’t want her babysitting many child.
I don’t want to be petty. MIL gives me a ton of anxiety and I struggle because I know she loves the baby I just am struggling with how she communicates with me.

I have plans to get 3 female rats from a tutor who raises them and I've been trying to research cages but most of the ones I've seen recommended were for adult rats and not for baby ones (the three I'm adopting are a month old atm but I'll bring them home in a week or two) Are there cages you'd recommend that can be used while theyre babies that they can still use as an adult? I want to start getting their enclosure set up now while I don't have them so I'm not scrambling for a setup once I bring them home. I'm from Mainland USA if that helps any.. We took her to the vet and she was great until they tried to give her a needle... They tried a pole to give her tranquillization and she broke the needle... They put her leash through the hinges on the door frame and wedged her behind the door to tranquilize her... Then all was done... Cost around the $200 and included the nails... Expect that will be the outcome for all vaccinations in the years to come... How we would rehome her if it was up to us... Would be to accept written applications with lots of details on the home, who'd she'd live with, what kind of lifestyle would she have, past dog experience, what kind of references they had... and narrowed it down to our best candidate(s)... Taking a month to two months to make our decision... and then "gradually" introduce them to Tara for play dates here, then eventually visits and play dates there, and gradually sleep overs... with gaps between so she's excited to see the person(s) in a happy we're special friends... And eventually both Tara, the prospective home and we'd know... It was her decision... She's not been a house dog and would have to gradually be introduced to the home... She has possession issues with raw meat, bones, soft furry things as in toys, boots, etc....Not with me... So not with her eventual trusted person(s)... She has her own room and court yard at the resort and she's very good here... But when strangers going by ... she goes ballistic to protect her space... again no bites... No one pushes her... No one would... and she does not do that with me or her trusted people. The other home had taken her straight into their home with compete freedom... It needed to be more gradually earned. They put meat packaging with fresh blood into an open garbage bag and she took it and snarled like a demon and refused to give it up... The husband did get it from her. She knew the steaks (raw meat) was in their fridge and when the wife opened the door, she got between the wife and the fridge door, snarling... The wife jumped back and she removed the meat...and ate it. The teenagers in the house hid in their bedrooms due to Tara's dominance... No bites... but certainly not the right home. She likes the vehicle. She likes to go places on a leash... She is very affectionate with those she knows. And again, she has never bitten, but she sure puts the fear she would into anyone she wants to put the brakes on... She is not fearful, but one of the strongest dogs in spirit you will ever meet. Her past in Iran was a small cement area behind a house and her owner was an older woman. If you love your dogs in Iran, someone kills them because its "our culture" not theirs... You can't walk them on the streets... They get very little social interaction... and they know their lives are endangered so they are either like children who are abused are, or they are fearfully aggressive (like Fancy)... or they are extremely strong spirited like Tara is... You earn Tara's trust. I realize there are very few of you who would have the ability or desire to have a dog like Tara... but if you do... and you are her right person... She would be an exceptional dog... One of the best of your lifetime... I don't need another dog... I will love and care for her, but it really wasn't wasn't the agreement that we were to keep her for life. Had we been contracted to do a rehome, then we would have accepted that as a possibility... but we would have been able to do the process as outlined above... Since... I'm currently reeling from a $10K vet bill from my dog having a benign growth on her gums. We were sent to a dental surgeon so we expected it to be pricey, but ye gods man! They did excellent work and it's a well run facility for sure, and I'm glad she had such good care. I just wonder how people can continue to keep up with these costs? My current dog has probably cost me upwards of $25K over the 6 years we've owned her, between her teeth issues, a couple tiny mast cell growths, her being attacked by a neighborhood dog (who's owner wouldn't pay) and this latest growth on her gums.
Seems unsustainable and I wonder if at some point Vets will price themselves right out of having enough patients to keep their clinics open. Who can take a chance adopting a dog if you aren't making 5 figures? What do you think?

In addition, the post in question remained on the UVSS Elections account for over 18 hours during a four-day election period. This delay in removing the post once the conflict of interest was recognized could have given the candidate an unfair advantage during the critical early stages of the election. A timelier response would have been necessary to ensure that the election remained fair and equitable for all candidates. The length of time that the problematic post remained on the UVSS Elections account raises concerns about the effectiveness of oversight and adherence to impartiality in the election process.
The position this candidate is running for is Director of Outreach and University Relations, which I, Matthew Allen Curtis, am also running for and here's what I want to do:
Firstly, I want to create a maker space where all students can let their creativity run wild. This space will be a hub of innovation and hands-on experimentation, where students can create for school or personal projects. It's the perfect place for anyone exploring new ideas and pushing their limits.
Secondly, I want to adopt the Board of Governance Review that the current board received. Adopting these recommendations would make the board focus on governing and less on execution, improving the training for all elected student leaders, establishing a learning culture, and continuous professional development. Hiring a neutral chair to facilitate board meetings will ensure everyone is heard and the rules are enforced.
Thirdly, I want to increase engagement and participation by fixing the General Meetings to the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday of the semester, making them in-person with online engagement, and introducing semester volunteer positions. These positions will help alleviate the work of the lead directors, create a pathway for future lead directors, and encourage more people to get involved.
Fourthly, I want to create an at-cost food store to help bridge the gap between people who need to use the food bank and those who are food secure. In addition to creating an at-cost food store, I am committed to properly funding the campus food bank. I understand this resource's importance in ensuring everyone has access to food and want to ensure it's fully supported. By creating an at-cost food store, we hope to lower the demand for the food bank and create a more sustainable food security model on campus.

I'm a veteran (34) female with a husband and 3 kids. We live off gride and it's and hour to the nearest ER. I had a heart attack January 27th er did nothing it was supposed to do. Went to several still nothing. Finally got into my primary and they dognosed me with Polycythemia Vera, unknown autoimmune thing (that has been going on for many years) Doc said she put in for different specialist. Half of them went in and they were out 6 months to two years. Meanwhile I'm in and out of ERs chest pain, passing out, dizzy, head aches BP all over the place. I'm freaking out bc early January I climbed a mountain. I can't even walk to the bathroom now with our getting winded. We scrapped together money for an RV got baited and switched. We can't keep staying in hotels across the street from the ER. My adopted mom told me to come home she would help me with the kids, help me get to appointments, we could save up get and a RV get stable, get a medical plan together. Sounded great. she did some research and doctors I needed were about 3 week wait. Much more reasonable. We were all tired exhausted, stressed to the max all of us. We got here 1900 miles later, almost out of money. Husband got a job he starts in three days pays well. Ive been in and out of hospital since we been here. (14 days now) I've seen oncologist today, cardiologist next week. Seen primary 5 times now. Changed meds. Still in pain but labs are improving very slowly. My adopted mom is now mad at me. Telling my kids are on phone to much (they are homeschooled and have books, classes and other stuff on there phones. I've been given diagnoses, scelodemea, PV, lupus and another thing I can't remember. Still figuring this out. Doctor won't put me on steroids bc it will make blood clotting worse right now. I'm on the phone to much. I've been doing doctor stuff, trying to find RV, putting apps for loans, grants other stuff. Doing VA stuff. Husband was here 5 days and landed a job. He's amazing. Yelling at me that in playing poor me card, this. Isn't me I'm being pathetic, I'm being a bad mom bc I'm laying down and on the phone. Told me if I was a sick as I acted that I would of been given proper care. Told me I'm lying, I showed her all my doctor stuff and labs. Now we have get out of her house today. We have 25 in our name after all this. I get paid on the 1st VA comp I feel like terrible, we are 2000 miles from home. I'm sick, in pain that I have never felt before. I still have bunch of doctor appointments before my care plan is put together. Just what?????

Hi everyone! I adopted a cat in January and love him to death. I am, however, having a lot of issues with his biting. The main time he bites me is at night; if I make any movements at night or make eye contact with him he walks up toward my face, will start biting my clothes and shaking his head like he's trying to break an animals neck, and then will turn to biting me (hard, and in no way playfully). There are times where he will sink into my arms or shoulders or wherever and will refuse to let go until I start saying "ow ow ow" in a high pitched voice. If I attempt to pull away, he just sinks in harder. When I push him away it just seems to make him more angry, and he has even attempted to attack my face a couple of times and seems to change his demeanor completely and gets pretty scary, making yowling type noises and lunging at my arms that I will put up to protect my face. I play with him for well over an hour each day, have never "punished" him in a way that would make him angry at me, and try my best to leave him with stimulating activities and toys when I leave for the day (lick mats, automatic toys, cat TV on). It seems like me decreasing his food intake, which the vet said was very necessary, has really amplified the issue. I also got an automatic feeder so he could understand that him begging for food from me will not get him anywhere. He will also attempt to bite me during the day at random, and will take hard bites on my legs when they're exposed and especially my arms. When he does this at night, I've attempted to ignore him, go in another room and close the door, and put him in another room and close the door, and nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I feel scared of him at night and am scared to make any movements at all. I feel like he sees me as more vulnerable when I'm asleep and takes that as an opportunity to attack me. I love him so much and he can be such a loving cat, which makes this so hard. Thank you in advance for any advice!

I definitely think he never learned his boundaries from other cats and I am now suffering the consequences of that. I'm just not sure what I can do to dispel this behavior. I never use my hands as toys and currently cannot afford another cat/am nervous about introducing another cat as he is older (I would get one in the future when I could afford it but am nervous if he would accept another cat).

I, (f27) was raised by my grandparents full time. My grandfather passed in 2014 and my father passed in 2020. My grandparents got full custody of me when I was an infant. My father was always in the picture, but was extremely sick for years. From 2012 to late 2017, I was my grandmother’s sole caretaker, however growing up, I was religiously, financially, mentally & emotionally abused/bullied. Bullied because I grew up in a religious household by other family members, bullied for my weight for 10+ years by other family members, and ostracized for years overall. Cousins admitted they didn’t like me for years when I was 10-17 because of the way I spoke to my grandmother. (I was a brat, but I was always grateful, but they were ONLY around maybe 3x a year and would only hear parts of any story tbh). I even got SA’d by a family member for years when I was 11 & my family still thinks it’s my fault btw.
Moving on, me + my grandparents + dad were the only ones living in a northeast state, everyone else lived in a southern state. When my grandfather passed, I became her sole caretaker. During the short period, my grandmother would accuse me of abusing her, trying to manipulate her, and it got to a point where she would call people and say I’m trying to k*ll her. It was never true. She is elderly (f78 now). With the help of my family (everyone in agreement), we helped her move to the state where 90% of our entire family lived because I was by myself (working and in school) taking care of a disabled older woman & she would get upset that I couldn’t handle it. They thought they could be the better choice for her and I agreed. They thought it would be lightwork. They thought I complained too much, was ungrateful, etc. They continuously inferred that I also should be grateful she took me in vs being adopted out as a toddler, as my bio mom was not in the pic and my dad had other issues at the time.
Side note: From 2017 to 2020, my dad was extremely sick/in and out the hospital/bedridden and I became HIS sole caretaker. After he passed, my family tried to pull the “all woes is forgiven” card on me.
Moving on to 2023, my “estranged family” is tired of my grandmother. She doesn’t thank them for anything, she can’t move as much and she consistently complains about them. She apparently orders them around too. I finally started living alone in 2020 & my bf moved in with me in 2022. My family wants to send her back to me. My grandmother wants to come back “home”.
I don’t want that. She cries and cries to me, but when I’m around, all she does is berate me. She has helped me financially (2x) since my father passed, and everyone thinks that’s a reason I should be lenient. She gets mad I don’t visit often (her high pitched crying and whining for years gave me a form of ptsd and it’s a trigger). They’ve all seen it and didn’t believe anything I’ve warned them about for years until they experienced it for themselves.
Now they think they have it worse than me, but I basically spent 23 years by myself with no real help with 3 sick people and being singled out by people 10+ years older than me. They would also get mad at me bc my grandmother would speak nicely about me to their faces???? And they thought I should’ve apologized because of her actions.
she wants to come and stay with me for a week w/ another family member. I have no extra furniture or anything. She actually wants to live with me again in the upcoming weeks as well. I’ve tried to help put her in a home but my family does not include me in any conversations unless I start it or force it. They also didn’t put me as a beneficiary or power attorney on any paperwork and refuse to try and communicate with me when it comes to her finances/medical care/insurance. I’m not on anything of hers, even though she raised me.
I personally think they made their bed and they should lie in it but my family thinks Im a huge asshole. What should I do/what can I do to basically get them off my back/tell them to fuck off?
