2023.03.31 17:32 ObjectiveDev I'm done with recruiters avoiding answer the question about salary range, but then asking you for your preferred salary right back to your face

Normal conversation:
recruiter: before we continue, do you have a desired salary range so we know we are in the same ball park?
me I'm open, but not a specific number, whats the salary range?
recruiter 160-180k but is negotiable on experience
me okay, thats in the ball park and i dont see any concerns.

but now, im tired of the following exchange

me thanks for reaching out, i love the sound of this opportunity. do you have any more information on the salary range before we continue?
recruiter its very flexible, but comes down to the experience
me understand completely, but is there an overall general range for the position given that?
recuiter yes, but it again really depends on the experience after you've gone through the interview....do you have a desired salary range?
shut the fuck up.
so i just started shutting it down and just telling them on the phone (or linkedin) that "nah chief I'm good"
me thank you, this sounds like a great opportunity, but honestly im at the point in my career where I am not going to have to jump through hoops just to figure out the salary range.
I completely understand that sometimes as the recruiter you instructed not to tell me, but im just not interested in those types of companies due to the other opportunities I have (who give a f if i actually have other opportunities, they dont know that. fuck em, thats why)
recuiter oh i understand... how about if you tell me your desired salary, i'll tell you if you are in our range?
hangs up

2023.03.31 17:32 rock_kid Can't properly save Microsoft Word files on Android to dropbox (save in read-only, but don't show up in the save location)

I am tearing my hair out. I am a writer and a student. I have all my files in Dropbox and frequently access and create them on my phone. It has worked fine until now.
The TL;DR: I can't create new Word documents on my phone like I used to and then Save As to Dropbox, although other locations work fine.
Details: I have an Android, two linked Microsoft accounts (personal and student) and recently bought a second Microsoft Surface to replace my old one. I can't imagine that's causing the issue but maybe something went sideways with my accounts, I don't know. I can't say I've tried to create and save a document since I bought the new laptop two weeks ago, but accessing, saving and editing them has been fine on Android and PC. Again, everything is saved in dropbox.
Today I tried to create a new document in Word for Android. I'm not near my PC and won't be for a couple days and really wanted to get some work done so I'm frustrated. I've narrowed this down to strictly a dropbox thing. I can save docs locally to my phone. Not sure what good that does me if it doesn't sync to my PC, though.
What happens is, when I try to create a new document on my phone I'm prompted to save it and I choose to save it to Dropbox. Then when I close out and go back to edit it, I get a yellow banner saying, "Cannot edit: File is read-only. To edit, first save a copy of the file." Then I click "save" on the banner, select my dropbox location again, and it's like nothing happened. I'm taken back to the document and the banner is still there and when I go to my dropbox app, there is no file. I cannot delete the file from the Word document list because "Delete is not supported for this file." I select "remove from list" in Word and it disappears like it was never created. There isn't even a temp file in my list. Word is not saving nor creating my documents, but only to dropbox.
I don't know what to do.
I have restarted my phone, updated both apps, messed with my network settings, logged out of both accounts (meaning Dropbox and the relevant microsoft one) and unlinked and relinked dropbox from Word. Zero change. I'm out of ideas and don't want to reset my Word app because I did that semi-recently and it effed with my ability to log in at all. Took most of a dedicated day to resolve.
I have created a new document properly saved to dropbox on my PC as recently as yesterday and that opens, edits and resaves on my phone fine. So it seems to be an issue of creating on Android and saving specifically to dropbox. I tried googling the issue but didn't come up with much.
Has anyone dealt with anything like this before, and have any idea of the possible fix? Thank you so much for reading in any case.

2023.03.31 17:28 throwaway244111 My maid of honor & best friend is non-existent in the wedding planning

Let me start of by saying I have been very flexible and empathetic to my bridal party. From the start, I told them I didn't want them to spend alot of money for my wedding, so I picked out a $99 dress from Birdy Grey and generic shoe style. I also let them pick their dress style of choice. For my bachelorette party, I picked Disney/Universal since my fiance's parents have a house down there, and offered for us to use it. I told the girls we can use my parent's military discount as well for tickets. I haven't asked them for financial contributions to any of my events. My maid of honor & I have been friends for almost 10 years, but due to her being in the military / moving alot we haven't seen each other in some years. We have kept in contact by phone. Right now, she is living in another state, which I understand could make things difficult since she isn't here.
All in all, I haven't been pushy and understand everyone has busy lives and things going on. I didn't want them to spend tons of money. However, my maid of honor has not really shown any effort into my wedding - my mom and the bridal party have texted her, and she hasn't answered them. Additionally, this week she sent me a message stating she was unsure she could attend the bachelorette/bridal shower due to finances. Ok, that's fine - I get since my wedding is coming up this summer. However, it took 3 attempts of me contacting her and nearly two weeks for her to even respond to my messages.
I guess why I am frustrated is because I feel like she is not really committed and to be honest, it doesn't seem like she's fully excited for me. When I got my makeup done, she didn't even reach out to say it looked good or comment on it. Same with my dress. People who I'm not even close with have been more excited and invested than her. This week I messaged her asking if she felt like she could no longer take on the role of MOH and if she couldn't that I understand. I much rather know now than the week or day before the wedding. I've been honest with her and fair to her. But I also feel like it's my big day and I want people who are excited to be there. Not someone who feels like they have to just because I asked.
Mind you she had to break off her engagement this past year due to her fiance cheating on her. I was there to talk to her, listen and give her advice. Yet, she can't give me the same effort. If my wedding is bothering her because of her broken off engagement, I would be understanding too. But she has yet to say anything to me so right now it's just an assumption of mine.
I'm venting because this a hard pill to swallow in terms of our friendship and where we stand. I feel like I need to break it off because this has showed me that she's not really there for me.

2023.03.31 17:26 ViralYNC Going off the app for rental advice?

I’ve rented quite a few times off of the same Turo host and we exchanged phone numbers last time.
He told me next time I rent, we should do it off the app so he can save me money on the Turo fees. So today, I cash apped him significantly less than what Turo was charging and I picked up the car like I normally would.
Is this something other renters will do / is it common? Any downsides to me as a renter? From what I can see, I am saving a lot of money and avoiding the app completely this way and I’m fully insured.
Any reason not to do it this way?

2023.03.31 17:24 GentlyUsedOtter The Most Unrealistic Thing About Suits

For a number of years I worked the front desk at several very large office buildings. People would come up to me, say who they were there to see, and I was looking up in our system. If they had an appointment, I would have them sit in a chair and wait until an escort arrived to bring them up, if they did not have an appointment I would call up to whoever's secretary and see if they were available, 9 out of 10 times unless it was a close personal friend, the person in front of me would be asked to make an appointment and to come back another time. That is standard practice in the vast majority of places.
We had a whole separate policy about process servers and state/federal agencies showing up unannounced. Process servers we would call the legal department and they would send somebody down to take whatever they were serving to whoever they were serving. And depending on the state or federal agency, we had a whole slew of policies, which I will not bore you with.
The most unrealistic thing about Suits is that people show up unannounced at these very high-powered people's offices. If that even happened once there would be an inquiry as to how the front desk let this random ass person up to wherever they wanted to go.
For example I just watched the scene where Harvey and Mike are celebrating a perceived victory, and a member of the opposing counsel just shows up in Harvey's office to tell them that he has the evidence to nail them to the wall. That would not happen, the general office front desk agent or Harvey's secretary would get a phone call, the secretary or whoever would then go find Harvey and ask if they want to see this person.
And yes I know it's a drama it's not real this isn't really happening real life doesn't happen like that. But still it breaks the immersion.
There I'm done. That's my rant.

2023.03.31 17:21 AppleBG Downstairs neighbor is making our lives a living hell

Hi everyone, so for the past year we’ve been dealing with our downstairs NFH and it’s driving me insane. I’m not sure what to do anymore.
Background: We live in a suburb in NYC, in a 13-floor building with multiple neighbors above and below us. my fiancé and me moved into our apartment last March. We don’t have pets, and at the time when we moved in, I was about 20 weeks pregnant with our daughter. We don’t have any other children. My boyfriend works in banking and leaves at 7 am every day and returns at 7 pm. I’m in PA school, so from March - December I left for school at 2 pm and returned at 10 pm. During the day I would study. Now I’m on rotations, so I’m gone M-F from around 8 am - 5 pm. Our daughter is 7 months old and doesn’t walk or crawl yet. My mom takes care of the baby during the day, but they usually leave to run errands, park or library.
Our downstairs neighbor started placing multiple noise complaints very shortly after we moved in. Security would come to our apartment weekly and tell us that she was complaining about children running and playing. At this point, I was still very pregnant and our apartment barely had furniture. My fiancé would answer the door and tell them that we didn’t have children yet. By the third time, my fiance asked me to open the door so that they would see my belly. Security felt bad and told the neighbor that there were no children in the apartment.
The complaints stopped for a bit and then they started again when we bought our dining room table. She started sending security again and started making calls to management about the chairs moving. Once my fiancé called me frantically while I was studying to ask me what I was doing. He had management on the other line saying that I was making noise in the apartment for hours. I was studying for an exam and occasionally standing up to use the bathroom. After that, we put little felt pieces under the chairs.
At this point, I had a conversation with management to explain our work/school schedules. Management was understanding and said they would have a talk with her. Management asked me if we had carpeting in our apartment. I told them we have area rugs in the living room, with the couch and coffee table, a rug in the baby’s room, and one in the bedroom under our bed. Security was still being called almost 2x a month.
Once I delivered I had to return to school since my program doesn’t offer maternity leave so my fiancé took paternity leave to care for the baby. She was still sending security to the apartment while he was home caring for a newborn. Often times he would be napping or on the couch with the baby when security would come over. One time he woke up to NYPD knocking on the door over a noise complaint and he was napping in the bedroom. The police officers were visibly very upset, according to my fiancé when they saw that the apartment was dark and he had a sleeping newborn in his arms. They left and said to ignore her.
At some point when my daughter was about 3 months old and security was still being called, I got very frustrated. I asked security to accompany me to speak with her myself. They took us downstairs. She was extremely aggressive from the beginning while I was trying to calmly explain to her that we don’t know where the noises she hears are coming from. She kept mentioning a screeching sound from the table. We told her we placed the felt pieces. She asked us if we had carpeting in our apartment, we told her no, but we had rugs and didn’t have one under the table because we felt it was unsanitary to have one there in case food fell on it. I gave her my number and asked her to text me when she heard noises so we can try to fix the issue. She said she still heard children running. I pointed to the baby and said that she was the only child and she was only 3 months old so it was not possible that it was her. My neighbors in the apartment next to mine (we share the living room wall) have children that do run a lot. She was complaining about the noise in her living room. She was on the phone with her boyfriend, who said “he can hear the noise too” 😒. She apologized briefly and told me she’d text me.
So sometime later, she texted me when she thought she heard the noise. We ran some noise tests and couldn’t reproduce the noise she was talking about using any furniture in our apartment. The only time we could hear something is when I actually slammed the chair. I told her I was sorry she was hearing those sounds but it was not coming from our apartment.
She texted me again when I was on rotation all the way in another borough, and I told her no one was home so the noise wasn’t from our apartment.
She texted me again yesterday to complain of balls dropping in our bedroom (over the master bedroom) and about footsteps at 6 am (that one was definitely my fiancé walking around in his work shoes). She was very nasty this time and stated that she was going to call management and set up a meeting to inspect our apartment because of the noise.
I spoke to management again and they got upset with me. They stated that she hasn’t called since July 2022. I told them she was texting me the complaints and I had no explanation for the noises she was hearing and that it was becoming too much for us bc we feel like we can’t even walk around our apartment without a possible complaint.
I said: “it feels like she wants us to carpet our apartment and I’m not doing that. I have allergies and it’s out of our budget.”
Management said: “well per your lease, you’re supposed to have carpet in 80% of the apartment, except the kitchen and bathroom. We usually don’t enforce it, but if the noise complaints are excessive, we do enforce it. Also, since she hasn’t called since July, it looks like YOU are starting the complaints now.”
I was confused because it feels like this woman has been harassing us for over a year now. I looked at the lease and the lease did state that there needs to be carpeting in 80% of the apartment, but here is what I’m confused about:

  1. The apartments come with hardwood floors and no carpeting
  2. The lease states that any carpeting must be removed before releasing the apartment back to them when moving out
  3. If we don’t remove the carpeting, we lose our deposit AND they charge us $15/sq ft to remove the carpet.
  4. If the wood floor is damaged from carpet removal/installation, we must pay to repair the wood floors.
So all in all they would want us to spend thousands of dollars out of our pocket carpeting and removing to appease this neighbor if she chooses to escalate it this way and it seems that this is the route she’s taking. She’s aware that our apartment is lacking carpet and only has area rugs bc security told her when they visited our apartment.
She texted me again today at 3 am to say she heard balls dropping. We were sleeping at 3 am and the baby sleeps through the night without toys in her crib. I responded at 9 am saying it wasn’t us bc we were sleeping at that time.
We’ve tried to call remove sources of noise in the following way:

  1. No shoes in the apartment. I asked my fiancé to put his work shoes on only when he was about to leave.
  2. We don’t sit at our dining table. So often we sit on the couch to eat or sometimes the floor
  3. My fiancé likes to listen to TV loud, he’s been avoiding that for months, and when he plays videos games, he uses headphones
  4. The baby only plays with her toys on our bed or on the couch so she can’t hear her playing
At this point, I don’t know what to do. Our options seem to be:

  1. move out, but that’s difficult bc money is a little tight.
  2. The leasing agent who helped us get the apartment is good friends with my stepdad and we were thinking of asking him if he could help us switch apartments
  3. I don’t think there’s anything legally we can do, especially because we are the upstairs neighbors. My stepfather’s lawyer could maybe look at the lease and give us advice. I might go this route before doing anything
  4. place a carpet large enough to cover the majority of the living room area with some foam padding under the table and see if that solves the issue. Although, I'm not convinced it will, because now she is complaining about a noise in the bedroom that she wasn't before. I feel like she is going to complain until every inch of my apartment is carpeted, and even then, still complain
If there are any suggestions anyone has, anything would be appreciated.

2023.03.31 17:19 Guz325 I resent my mom more and more everyday

Sorry this is probably going to be long. For almost 10 years my mom(34) has been an addict, her drugs of choice have been meth, fentanyl, and pills over the years. I’m 20 years old so for the most part this is all I remember about my mom. Recently she got in trouble with the law and now is on probation. My mom is also disabled (but is still completely able to find a job to make some money physically) and hasn’t had a job since I was around 11. She has been completely dependent on men for my whole life, I’ve never seen her single.
8 years ago she married her most recent husband after a different 8 year marriage with someone else. I have three siblings aged 15, 13, and 11. They are my world. Since I was 7 I have taken care of and basically raised them. By 17 I moved 20 mins away and it was hard because I felt I was leaving my sisters but I still see them as much as possible. I just had to leave because it was very toxic there and my mom is very manipulative and emotionally abusive.
So now recently she has been getting involved with some other guy and cheating on my current step dad. This new guy I’ll call him ‘J’ , is a guy that has to register to the sex offenders list for things I won’t disclose and he is also in jail now. They met at a family members house and I guess it grew from there. She’s been in rehab ( on and off) and I have recently cut her off, how ever she is on my phone plan because of some manipulation so I have access to her phone records. I recently was able to find this guys number from jail and found she has been calling him in rehab after repeatedly telling my step dad that she promised she’s done with this pedo.
I hold a lot of resentment towards my mom and I finally snapped and cut her off when I saw messages between this pedo and my mom saying things like “ I can’t wait to have our happy family together “. It disgusted me as my siblings are sister and it is dangerous for him to be around them. I’m scared she is going to continue to talk to him and being him about my siblings. These are basically my kids and I feel I can do nothing. If she ends up leaving my step dad no one will take her in because they don’t like what she’s doing with this guy. My sisters could be put into foster care, and if I were to call services the same could happen. I’m terrified for my siblings to be in that situation and I have no idea what to do anymore.
I’m sorry if this is all over the place or if there’s things missing, there’s just so much that goes into it. If there’s any questions feel free to ask

2023.03.31 17:19 massholewoman REQUIRED verification of your school?

I REALLY don’t like how Yak now forcing us to confirm with our UNIVERSITY emails.
This means universities will now have access to everyone’s activity; seeing as they’re using location/email data to “verify” your identity. This is so so messed up. Not good for our privacy.
I know they used to track our phone numbers, but that meant nothing to me. I never worried much, because I wasn’t posting any reprehensible things, just some controversial takes. I’m EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE with how I’m now forced to link my university email to this app. My university and I don’t agree ideologically— so I often used Yak as a place to vent frustrations.
I don’t want to risk my university tracking me down and questioning me about my views. I don’t want my university to know I’m on that app. I always used Yak as a place to anon-vent… but those days are no more. Deleted the app. So sad to see it go. Was such a core part of the modern campus experience tbh.

2023.03.31 17:17 artisanrox 3/31--VOCs, Wastewater, Daily Numbers, CDC, Editorials.

Good morning RonaPA!
Hope your spring is safe and healthy going into April.

VOCs

Nationally, nothing much different as far as XBB.1.5 goes, but XBB.1.6 is making some very concerning gains on it every day.
In PA, we're pretty much full of XBB.1.5.x.y so far, not much XBB.1.16 yet which is good.
The CDC NOWCAST is still not updated as I post this.

Lineage News

XBB.1.16 is the top lineage of concern for the viral research community right now.
It's already been sequenced in at least 15 states including PA, and is already spawning subvariants (XBB.1.16.x.y).
The newest lineages are extremely concerning because the virus is starting to adjust proteins in the body of the virus and not just the spike proteins.
I'm going to add a nifty new educational website from Science.org to the "education" section here, that goes into detail how SARS-CoV-2 battles our immune system and what different proteins on the surface of the virus contribute to!
The mutated proteins on the virus greatly increases its ability to switch off interferons, avoid T-cells, and in a way, doesn't just "shut down the fire alarm", it also "cuts the phone cables" to the fire and police departments! Your immune system CANNOT HELP YOU if it doesn't know a pathogen is there!
This means eventually, more Long Covid cases, more immune dysregulation (if you or your kids have been mysteriously "always sick" in the past year or so, that IS immune dysregulation!), more mysterious sudden death including heart attacks, and more erratic and aggressive behavior.
All countries where XBB.1.16 is gaining ground are going vertical in numbers, though sample numbers are small yet. It'll be very important to keep watch of this variant.
All XBB lineages are at the dangerous intersection between high cell binding ability (causing more severe disease) and also high immune escape (which means vaccines are less effective in preventing infection, and prior infection is useless at conferring protection!)
Another lineage of concern is XBC.1.6 which is a true "Deltacron" recombinant. It's mostly in Australia right now. It's being monitored for international spread.

Wastewater

Nationally, there is a slight increase of COVID material found in wastewater, probably due to XBB.1.16 and XBB.1.9.1 adding themselves to the mix.
Regionally, the downward direction of cases is clearly slowing down a bit.
In PA, a concerning number of stations are starting to tick upward. Boosters will help control severe disease. Masks and air filteration are variant-proof!

Daily Numbers

Medriva has the PA daily average at 684 cases per day.
Walgreens has the national +rate at 25.0% (+0.3% to LW.) We might be seeing the start of XBB.1.9.1+XBB.1.16 growing.
In PA, the +rate is at 13.0% (-6.5% to LW)! This is fantastic! Let's work together to keep it this way! 💐

2023.03.31 17:15 Savagesavi21 Sexually Harassed at work

I (23F) work at a hotel and last Sunday was sexually harassed by two young men (around my age). They asked me to show them a room late at night and in the time span of walking down the hall, getting to the elevator, and getting to the room; I was asked numerous forceful sexual questions.
“Do you have a boyfriend?” I have a husband
“Can I have you phone number?” I don’t think that’s appropriate
“Why not?” Because I’m married
“He doesn’t have to know, I can give you the best 10 minutes of your life.” “We can go into the room and it can be an hour if you want or I can take you to my car.”
“I’ll give you money if you want it.” I don’t want your money and no that’s not happening
“Listen we all need a little bit of fun in our lives and you spend 10 minutes with us, it’ll be the best time you’ve ever had.” No not happening
Going back down after showing the room and not going in with these guys after these comment were said, when we headed back in the elevator they kept asking me for my number and if I wanted 10 minutes with them. When we go into the hallway I was stopped by them and they kept trying with these sexual advances.
One guy said “I’ll give you money.” Which I told him I don’t want your money “Yeah look at her she doesn’t want our money she’s not some broad off the street.” The guy saying this beings rubbing my arm and telling me; “Listen you tell me no then no (I’ve already said no 5+ times) but if you want I’m sure I can give you the best 10 minutes of your life with both of us and no one has to know.” I pull back, scared for my life at this point. I say no again and we continue walking which they stop me again before we get the front desk and they say, “You let me know before we leave, it’ll be amazing, I promise.”
At this point I’m freaking out inside since this has never happened. One of the guys puts his phone down on the desk which I tell him no I don’t want it and he forcefully put it’s in my hand. I type my husbands phone number which has no network and they call it right then and there (freaking weirdos) I finish checking them in (yes I realize I should have just called the cops I have never been in a situation like this so my mind was exploding and I wasn’t sure what to do) and they had the audacity to say in front of my manager might I add, “Can you show us the room one more time, take us up and show us where it is.” Which I told them no you can find it yourself I already showed you.
I tell my manger what happened and she’s not happy. She tells me to wait in the back office and don’t come out since my shift is ending soon anyways. They come back down and ask my manager where I went and stared into the back room looking for me. She told them I left and in this time I called my husband. These guys go to the gas station we have right down the street and when they come back they look into the office once again trying you see if I’m there. I end up going home ASAP. Get back the next day and apparently everyone that works there knows because my manager told everyone. I didn’t even get the opportunity to explain to my general managers who are also the owners about situation and when they see me all they could say was wow people are wild.
Another front desk employee was talking with my manger and my manger said to the general managers we are putting them on the do not rent list right? Which the other fd person says no they’ve never even stayed here before and my manger said yes they have they just stayed her last night and messed with our staff. And both the fd agent and the general managers decided not to put them on the list. So I took it upon myself to ask since no one knows my side of the story but everyone knows apparently and I still have yet to get a response which they usually take less than 5 minutes to text back.
I was told these guys came back by my manager yesterday and was told I don’t have to serve them and can just call the cops when this can be prevented by putting them on the do not rent list so not only myself but other workers aren’t asked this as well as guest.
This hotel has been proven to be unsafe we call the cops maybe once a week due to guest. And my general managers have shown me they don’t care about me even though I have been a major asset to the company for 7 months now and have taken on other task that front desk agents don’t have permission to do. I’m already in the process of quitting just have to do it. But I needed a general opinion am I tripping to much about this and the lack of my safety that is being shown or am I valid in thinking this is bull and I should just quit to put my safety first since my managers won’t?

2023.03.31 17:14 marrenmiller [WTS/WTT] Microtech Socom Elite w/ BGM regrind, Sharp By Design Evo Typhoon CF, Reate K2 Worker M390 w/ Skiffs, Civivi Conspirator

Happy Friday!
Timestamp and photos
For sale today are the following knives. US shipping only via USPS Priority/First Class. Significant trade interests are the new Microtech MSI or Stitch Ram Lok in some color that isn't tan. Additional pictures and video can be produced upon request. I generally sell to the first non-asshole who makes a reasonable offer, so be cool please.
  1. Microtech Socom Elite S/E. I bought this seemingly unused on the swap a while ago, and I sent it to John at BGM Knives for a regrind. Removing the thumb studs so that the knife can be reground is a gigantic pain in the ass, and there are a few tiny marks on the studs as a result of the process. It's been carried, reprofiled on a KME and then touched up with DMT stones, and has been disassembled several times for the regrind and cleaning, but only lightly used and has seen no abuse in any capacity. Action is smooth with no blade play, and it locks up like a vault, just like you'd expect on a Socom Elite. Comes with original box and papers. SV $300 / TV $325.
  2. Sharp By Design Evo Typhoon drop point w/ carbon fiber inlays. This is from the very first Evo Typhoon run, and I'm the original owner. I've reprofiled it to about 16 dps on a KME and occasionally touched up the edge as required with DMT stones. It's been carried a good deal as a gentleman's knife but lightly used for cutting. The clip has a good number of light snail trails but the scales are in fantastic shape, with one minor rub mark near the pivot on the clip side. Action is snappy with no blade play, and lockup is absolutely solid. Can't find the carrying case it came in but I'll ship it if I can find it. SV $300 / TV $325. Sold for $300.
  3. Reate K2 Worker in M390. This thing is a technical showcase for Reate, with impeccable grinds, perfect detent, extensive milling work and interior weight relief, and a solid design. I've modified it by adding Skiff bearings and grinding the ricasso to remove the small bit of unsharpenable edge that comes on these knives. The grinding doesn't quite match the satin grind in the choil, but it's not very noticeable IMO and can be made to match if someone was inclined to hand sand it a bit. Action is amazing with crisp AF detent and no blade play, and lockup is absolutely solid. Comes with original box and swag, carrying case, original bearings, and extra hardware. SV $275 / TV $300.
  4. Civivi Conspirator. Bought on the swap in seemingly new condition and haven't carried or used it. I only wanted it to see if I still like button locks, and then I promptly bought something else to replace it. Action is decent and lockup is completely solid with no blade play, but the button sticks pretty hard sometimes. It seems to me that this is fairly typical for these Civivi button locks. SV $45 / TV $50.

2023.03.31 17:08 scoobertdoobertdoo27 Were they unicorn hunters, did they just suck, or did I do something wrong?

This is a long story, so fair warning.
I'm new to polyamory. Newish anyway. Doing the solo poly thing for about a year now. I am a 25f who identifies as bisexual.
I just want to know if these people were unicorn hunters or what. Because a lot happened and it left me feeling very bad about myself and very confused.
So, I started seeing this couple. We'll call them Mike (35M) and Sydney (33F). I matched with them on Feeld and was more interested in her than him, but he was the one more involved in the conversation and whatnot.
I met him in person at a bar and we hit it off super well. He explained their situation. They're ENM and like to do all sorts of group activities if you will. Sydney considers herself a cuck queen because she likes watching her husband with other women. (Or so she says)
A date or two later I met her as well, we got along really well.
Here's where issues started in hindsight. They asked that I download Telegram. They said it's because they don't like giving out their phone numbers because they've had some privacy breaching issues in the past. I'm like okay sure!
I didn't realize that they wanted me to use it because their accounts were connected and they could read each others conversations.
I didn't realize this until she started making comments about his and I's conversations.
Being naive and new to all this and wanting to just follow their rules, I went along with it.
They eventually shared their phone numbers with me because I was actively going on dates and they wanted me to be able to reach out in case of emergency or something.
So I start texting them more than using telegram and I ask Mike out on a date.
I was starting to feel used for sex in a very unsexy way so I wanted some one on one time that didn't involve anything sexual.
Sydney agreed. She said it was fine. Her exact words were "I want you guys to do whatever you want without feeling like you need to ask me."
The week of our date comes and she gets super insecure. Asks that I stop texting unless it's a group chat. Requests that him and I don't have sex on our date (that was kinda the point but whatever). It becomes very apparent that she's really not into the date between him and I. I even offered to not do it. But she insisted.
The date comes and it's really fun. We drink and play some games and have a grand ole time.
Towards the end things did get a bit more heated and I asked him if bjs counted as sex for him and her. And he said, "nope, that's definitely on the table." I replied with a bit of a wink and a "duly noted."
So I go down on him a bit in the car. Nothing crazy. Literally just a teasy bit.
Then I go home and I think all is fine until Sydney starts blowing up my phone demanding to know what we did and getting mad that I'm not responding fast enough. I later learned she thought I was texting Mike behind her back so we could "get our story straight."
And I let myself get sucked into this fight.
I shouldn't have. Obviously this was between the two of them. I asked and he said it was okay and that's where my stake in this fight should have ended. Hindsight is 20/20
They convinced me to come over a few days later to talk things out and she realized that I wasn't conspiring with her husband because I had my own stuff going on. So she apologized. Turns out he couldn't stay hard for her so she assumed we did more than we said. (As if he wasn't a 35 year old dude who had been drinking all night.)
But I became way less interested in her after that. The insecurity and the jealousy was just ridiculous.
Stupidly, I believed the apology and stayed with them.
That was only the first fight. There were many more like it.
Every time it'd be because he couldn't stay hard for her and somehow I got pulled into it.
She literally would have me act as a middle man. Tell Mike this. See what Mike would say about this. Ask Mike this.
She also would tell me all the time when we were fighting, "I really just don't think you're meant to see couples."
And it's driving me insane how much emotional anguish this has caused me.
I finally officially broke it off with them a few months ago.
I told them to their face that she was too codependent and needed to learn how to take care of herself on her own and needed to stop basing her confidence off sex because her getting mad at her husband not getting or staying hard is just making it worse for him because he's already embarrassed enough as is.
And I told him he needed to pay more attention and be more empathetic because it was super apparent that she wasn't really into this and he was just being blissfully ignorant so he could go on having relations with women who aren't his wife.
Then the two of them started fighting because he was mad that she was telling me about his penis problems.
So while they're yelling, I skedaddle, and I haven't spoken to them since.
I feel like it's obvious they shouldn't be in the lifestyle because they have too many trust and jealousy issues but they also managed to make me feel like it was all my fault.
I'm seeing a way healthier couple now and it's going really great but I am so reluctant to do a lot of things or get too invested emotionally because of that previous experience.
Idk I feel like I just need reassurance that I didn't do anything wrong. Because no matter what I tell myself I can't help but feel like I did. And I'd really like to not hold onto all this bitterness and anger.
Anyway. If you read this far, thanks! I know it's a lot. I just don't have too many people to talk about it with that wouldn't be super judgemental.
TLDR: I was seeing a couple with severe trust and jealousy issues and they made me feel like all the bad things in their relationship were my fault. I just want to know that they weren't.

2023.03.31 17:06 GroundControl29 Has anyone ever bought a monthly transport card as a tourist (or knows how to)?

I wanted to get one since I'll be here for a few weeks and don't want to spend three times the money on weekly tickets or deal with the annoyance of single ride tickets. But after trying I feel like it's not meant for foreigners. In the two B+ apps that the website directs you to you can only register with an Italian phone number, which I obviously don't have. And the sheet that you need to fill out for a physical card asks for a codice fiscale, which I obviously don't have either. Is there any possibility for me to get that damn card?

2023.03.31 17:04 LemoLuke My eldest son has been diagnosed as autisic, my younger son is currently being diagnosed, and I've been told that I'm very likely autistic based on my behaviors and mannerisms. This past couple of years has been a lot to process.

I really need to vent a little and I don't know where else to do this.
A few years ago, shortly before Covid, my eldest son, (who was 6 at the time) signed up for Beavers along with his cousin, who is also his best friend. My eldest is not particually social and we hoped that it would help him make some new friends. I had always been very socially awkward growing up, and didn't have many friends and I didn't want the same for him. However, after a few weeks, his scout leader took me aside and asked if there was anything about him they needed to be aware of. I had no idea what he was talking about, and he sheepishly asked if my son was autistic, as he was apparently showing signs of it (the scout leader had been trained to help with neurodivergent children). We'd never even considered it, and we asked his teachers the next day, who said they hadn't noticed anything. The scout leader continued to give him extra attention though, letting him know in advance exactly what activities they were doing that day, warning him if certain activities were going to be loud, and giving him space when he just wanted to run back and forth, etc.
Shortly after, the school noticed patterns in his behaviour, raised a concern and formally begain the diagnosis process.
About a year later, the scout leader phoned us to talk about my son, and during the call, dropped the bombshell that he had seen some of the same signs in me, and suspected that I was also autistic. This had never crossed my mind. I knew I had always had 'quirks', and struggled socially, but the only thing I had ever been diagnosed with was OCD.
Last year, my son recieved his formal diagnosis, and around the same time, the school raised red flags about my younger son, and this year, he also began the formal diagnosis process (although, we now recognise his immense love for dinosaurs and wildlife as his special interest, and his contant, long-winded explanations of prehistoric creatures as infodumping). My wife took a 6-week online autism course to help with my sons, as well as liasing with my son's school appointed specialist, and now my wife is also convinced that I am autistic. After learning about autism via my sons, I am also convinced and now have to decide if I want to try and get a formal diagnosis.
It's pretty overwhelming. I'm 40 now and it has made me reassess my entire life. All the issues I have had throughout my life, which I chalked up to just being 'awkward'. The fact I have always found it incredibly difficult to connect with people. People often considering me rude or antisocial because I avoid eye contact and don't enjoy smalltalk or general conversation or social gatherings unless I'm with people I feel really comfortable with, prefering to sit quietly out of the way. Struggling to take my children to birthday parties because I constantly feel the need to find somewhere quiet to sit because all of the lights and noise and activity overwhelms me. I find it difficult or near-impossible to watch certain TV shows and movies because I suffer from unbearable second-hand embarrassment from cringe humor, or get painfully uncomfortable seeing people being mean, angry, or upset with each other, to the point I have to leave the room, or cover my ears and look away until the scene ends. I often find myself alone in the kitchen pacing back and forth, or making random arm or hand movements whenever I am stressed, anxoius, or excited. I have always found it difficult to read social cues and subtle hints which makes communication difficult. The fact that I consider myself a 'personality magpie', constantly taking traits, quotes, and mannerisms from other people (often from TV/movies) and using it to create a sort of Frankenstein personality, to the point that I'm not even sure if I have a real personality of my own. The other day, I read a meme on this subreddit, talking about the idea that you have to spend time constantly rehersing making a phone call to customer service before you can even lift the phone. For some reason, that one little thing hit so deep that I spent the next 10 minutes crying. If someone or something unexpectedly changes my day-to-day routine or environment, it can trigger unease and anxiety in me that can last for days. All social interactions feel like they deplete my emotional and mental batteries. I can't stand text/messenger conversations because the idea of not knowing exactly when someone will reply gives me anxiety.
Right now, things just feel very lost and I don't know how to deal with everything. I'm sorry for the long vent, it's just that writing this out is a much therapy for me as anything else.

2023.03.31 17:00 Tae-gun Something that just occurred to me about SWTOR's rampant inflation

Apologies in advance for the wall of text. Skip to the bottom half of this post to get to my suggestions/ideas and skip the exposition.
So I've made my peace with not being able to play x64 SWTOR for a while (my machine is a decent gaming laptop...from 2016 and runs Win 7 x64, so I'm due for an upgrade soon anyway; I can get back to SWTOR when I upgrade), it occurred to me this morning that while inflationary pressure is fairly common to MMOs, of the MMOs I've played (including Black Desert Online, EVE, RuneScape, and Guild Wars 2) only SWTOR lacks the ability to place buy orders on the player marketplace, and also lacks substantial market controls present in those other MMOs.
Why is the ability to place buy orders relevant to inflation control? The way the GTN is currently set up, only sellers can make listings, and as a general rule they have no reference other than other sellers' listings with regards to what the market is like for their item(s) or what is a reasonable market price. This has the effect of promoting constantly-increasing list prices; while undercutting of listings by competing sellers helps to control inflationary pressure a little, without buy orders competing sellers only need to undercut each other by just enough (i.e. still well above reasonable market value) to get their item(s) sold first if the demand is present (demand doesn't even need to be high). Even with undercutting, given the constraints on the production of certain items like player-crafted dyes (e.g. material gathering/purchasing, storage space limitations, listing time limits, and companion crafting times), any counter-inflationary pressure on the GTN generated by sellers undercutting each other is limited and in most cases nonexistent if prices still remain above market price. Ultimately this results in constant upwards pressure for higher and higher list prices for GTN items with no counterbalance.
Take, for example, crafted dyes. When I first got into dye crafting in 2015-6 (all of my characters are on the Shadowlands, now Star Forge, server), the deep red and black dyes (the schematic learned from Section X) sold for 30k-40k credits each. The major limitations on production were availability of Grade 6 archaeology materials (which were not as easy to obtain in quantity at the time), companion crafting times, and inventory/cargo hold space (much as it is now). Even at the time, the limited number of competing sellers of this particular dye was not enough keep list price of the dye from creeping up, though it was enough at the time to stop/prevent major jumps in list price from becoming basically permanent. Today, these dyes go for above 700k credits, which is roughly a 17.5x increase (compared to a max list price of 40k in 2015-6).
For ease of calculation, for the following estimate I'm going to use 2015 as the start year (for a total of 8 years of economic growth) and a price increase of 16x (i.e. 2^4) such that I use the estimate that the price of dyes has doubled 4 times, or once every 2 years. By the rule of 70, this suggests that SWTOR's in-game economy grew by 35% every year. For reference, in the real world, ideal GDP/economic growth is somewhere between 2-3% (such that prices for most consumer goods double roughly every 20-30 years).
Skip to here:
In MMOs, inflation is unavoidable, and while the primary active means of inflation control is via the implementation of in-game money sinks, these can only be implemented very carefully and almost never to a degree necessary (because substantially steep money sinks would discourage veteran players who feel they have earned that in-game money through their time and commitment to the game, and global steep in-game money sinks risk making the game nearly unplayable for new players), most MMOs also have other built-in counterbalances to inflation, such as the ability to place buy orders on the player marketplace, relatively steep listing fees, and price controls/ranges on marketplace listings, which SWTOR lacks or does not properly implement.
Inflationary controls that I think are too late for SWTOR: 1) implement minimum and maximum GTN list prices for every item a la BDO (as many items now trade outside of the GTN for well over the GTN cap of 1 billion credits, it's too late for this now, and doing this now may incentivize even more sellers to trade outside of the GTN); and 2) seriously crack down on gold farming (there is too much in-game money generated at this point for a crack down to make a meaningful impact on inflation).
However, there are inflationary controls that I think SWTOR could still implement now without seriously harming the new player experience while meaningfully limiting the stupendous rate of credit generation by veteran players (I myself would have surpassed the 4.2 billion-ish credits hardcap on at least 2 characters had I not availed myself of legacy storage and distributing credits through altoholism): 1) introduce the ability to place buy orders on the GTN with no floor (so there will be a substantial number of low-ball buy orders that can be met if a seller needs/wants to move inventory); 2) substantially increase the GTN listing fee (to roughly 20% of the list price); 3) raise the GTN listing cap to 80% of the credits hardcap (roughly 3.4 billion-ish, which could bring some items that currently trade outside the GTN back into the GTN); 4) eliminate the listing time limit but retain the maximum listing limit (which I think would incentivize sellers to list their items at an inventory-moving price, i.e. reasonable market value, rather than at the maximum possible price and just relisting after 3 days).

2023.03.31 16:57 Cloudrune Quick call from conversation

On my pixel 3a XL I used to be able to touch the call button within a conversation in Google Messages and it's automatically call that person.
Now with my Pixel 7, when I'm in Google Messages in a conversation and I touch the call button, it takes me to the Phone app showing me recent calls and it has put the phone number of the person I touched to call into the dial section then I have to click call again to call that number. Is there a setting to change this from having to do two steps? Or is this something they took away with the new android update(s)?

2023.03.31 16:54 DuhChappers My Unofficial Bingo Reviews!

So let's get this out of the way at the top. For someone who read all these books, I sure did not do a good job reading the rules for Bingo, because I totally missed the rule about all the books coming from different authors. So this is only an unofficial bingo win, I’ll have to wait for next year to make it official. But I still had a great time hunting down new books and stepping out of my comfort zone on this project, and I’m committed to doing my unofficial Hero mode as well! I’m going to list the books I read in order of reading them, and I hope you enjoy.
Dune: Messiah, By Frank Herbert - Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey (HM)
This book was weird. I was warned, and I am aware that other Dune sequels get even more weird, but I still found this to be pushing my limits. Herbert has an imagination like few others. It was cool, and overall I had a positive experience with it, but it was work to try and understand it all. I will have to see how much further I get in the series while still having any fun at all. 6/10
A Memory Called Empire, by Arkady Martine - LGBTQA List Book
This book jumped to the front of my reading queue off of the title alone. Potentially my favorite book title of all time. The book itself is also very good, it’s got excellent worldbuilding and characters and an engaging plot. I love the names in the empire, and its culture in general. Only barely misses being what I would call a masterpiece because of pacing near the beginning and one interesting theme feeling underdeveloped. 9/10
A Desolation Called Peace, by Arkady Martine - Set In Space (HM)
This book was very similar in quality to the first one. It had slightly less of the cool worldbuilding from the first book, but it had just as much of the great characters. It was slightly less focused due to multiple POV’s, and one in particular dragged a bit for me. I do have to say, though, some of the best aliens I’ve ever read. 9/10
Bloody Rose, by Nicholas Eames - Family Matters (HM)
I read Kings of the Wyld just before bingo started and liked it a whole lot. I liked this too, but a little less. It was funny and pretty engaging throughout, with a couple really awesome moments. My biggest gripe with both books is with one aspect of the worldbuilding: The way the monsters. Despite some nods at the unfairness, no character seems to really care about changing anything and t gets under my skin. I do not think it works well or sends the message the book thinks it is sending. 7/10
The Traitor Baru Cormorant, by Seth Dickenson - Anti-Hero
Wow. This book blew my mind and blew right into my top 5 favorite books ever. I loved the world, I loved the prose, I loved every character, especially Baru and Tain Hu. The pacing and passage of time was handled basically flawlessly. I just loved it and looking back at it I love how it set up the rest of the series. 10/10
The Monster Baru Cormorant, by Seth Dickenson - Mental Health (HM)
Living up to a 10/10 as a sequel is tough, and I do think this book suffers a little from high expectations. But it still rocks! I love the new PoV character in this book, and I love the exploration of new cultures. The plot kinda slows in this one to make room for a lot of character work, which is good for the most part but does hurt the pacing. Also, very grim-dark. Tough to read at points, but mostly in a good way if that makes sense. 9/10
Small Gods, by Terry Pratchett - Shapeshifters (HM)
After the last book, I needed a couple lighter reads to get me in a better mood, and nothing is better for that than Discworld. This book was charming, interesting and funny throughout. It wasn’t my favorite Discworld book, but I’ve not read one yet that I didn’t enjoy. 8/10
The Golden Compass, by Phillip Pullman - Historical SFF
A friend gave me this as a random gift since I had never read it when I was younger. It was quite interesting, with a narrative structure and pacing that struck me as unconventional while still being engaging. I did think it took a little too long to the frozen north, and the journey was not always the most interesting. I do think I would have liked it more as a child but I’m still glad I had a chance to read it now. 7/10
Legends and Lattes, by Travis Baltree - Book Club
I still wanted to stay in the cozy zone for a little bit, and this book hit the spot right on. It had everything I wanted from it. Good characters, engaging growth and just the right amount of conflict. The concept alone is great and it lives up to that well. More than anything else, this book has great vibes and put a smile on my face consistently. 9/10
The Tyrant Baru Cormorant, by Seth Dickenson - Name in the Title (HM)
Finally returning to this series, and it still delivers. At this point in the series I knew what I wanted from the book and it delivered in a great way. It also managed to surprise me with a few twists that I thought were really interesting and left me super excited for the last book in the series. 9.5/10
Legion, by Brandon Sanderson - Urban Fantasy
This single volume collected three novellas Brandon wrote, and since I got them in one book I’m counting them as one book. I am a pretty big Sanderson fan so I was excited to check out something of his that I had never read before. I liked it a lot! I mostly liked the unique perspective of the main character with his different personalities and the slow build of the main mysteries throughout the different stories. I did not love the ending as much as I wanted but the journey was still well worth it. 8/10
Black Leopard, Red Wolf, by Marlon James - Set in Africa
This book was a pretty mixed bag in my opinion. I really liked the opening and the character dynamics that it set up. The setting was different for me and interesting as well, and I liked the way magic was used throughout. But, the pacing through the middle of the book almost killed me. I really struggled to get through some parts, and it also felt at multiple points like I had missed a page and was confused as to a new character or place that seemed to just appear. That said, once I got through the middle, the end was good once more so I left it on a positive note. 6/10
This Is How You Lose the Time War, Max Gladstone and Amal el-Mohtar - Two or more Authors
A friend loaned this to me with a glowing recommendation and I have to say - it deserved it. This is one of the most creative and powerful stories that I have read throughout this whole year. The way the story is framed - great. The character work through the glimpses we get into these people’s lives - brilliant. Worldbuilding and tech - consistently cool and interesting. Overall I’d pass it on to all of you with a glowing recommendation of my own. - 9.5/10
Promise of Blood, by Brian McCellan - Revolutions and Rebellions (HM)
This book did not really work for me. It did not lack merit - the magic was cool, and the world had a lot going for it. But the plot felt like it did not have a great sense of momentum, the prose was lacking, and the characters were inconsistent. Worst of all, I felt like a lot of the most interesting elements of the premise were not explored really at all. Overall, while I can see what made this book hit well for others, I can’t say that I would agree. 5/10
Red Seas under Red Skies, by Scott Lynch - No Ifs, Ands, or Buts (HM)
I read The Lies of Locke Lamora years ago and loved it, but bounced off the sequel at that time. Now I was more determined to get through it, and I was able to see a lot more to like. My biggest complaint would be that the book is too long, and Lynch has a tendency towards overdescription that hurts the pacing. Still, Locke and Jean are always entertaining, and their scheme is pretty great once it finally gets moving. I’m glad I got through it and I am still looking forward to the next in the series. 6.5/10
The City We Became, by N.K. Jemisin - BIPOC Author
I love the Broken Earth trilogy, and I was extremely interested to see what Jemisin would come up with in our world. The setup was interesting, the characters cool and strong in many different ways. I really liked the buildup and pacing throughout as well, though the resolution was over surprisingly fast. It’s easy to see this is just book 1. One big complaint: while I agree with almost all of the book’s politics, I thought the way it deployed them was quite jarring and tactless in some places. Not a masterpiece, but still very good. 7.5/10
Tress of the Emerald Sea, by Brandon Sanderson - Weird Ecology (HM)
I had this book pegged for this slot in Bingo since I read the preview chapter many months ago, and I definitely enjoyed my journey with it. I did have some issues; I think Hoid’s voice can get a little annoying over a whole book, and the resolution did not live up to the journey. All that said, for a light hearted romp in a unique world with cool characters, I think this certainly did its job. 7.5/10
Bands of Mourning, by Brandon Sanderson - Cool Weapon (HM)
This is my one reread I was allowed. I read it again to prepare for The Lost Metal, and I still love this book. I think this is the best of the second Mistborn series. I particularly love Steris in this one, she really grows to be probably my favorite character in the series. Side note: I was originally going to include this for the Cool Weapon category for Vindication, but then I realized the book was named after a cooler and much more magical weapon. 8.5/10
The Lost Metal, by Brandon Sanderson - Published in 2022
I think to appreciate this book, you have to be a big cosmere fan, and I’m not sure how well it works to just have all the cosmere stuff be so open after being in the background for as long as it was. But, I am a big cosmere fan, so it didn’t bother me much! This book is a fitting conclusion for the series and generally quite fun, even though it felt a little too action heavy and the pacing was not perfect. Also low in Steris which is a big flaw. 7.5/10
The Killing Moon, by N.K. Jemisin - Author uses Initials
It took me a little bit to be fully sucked into this world, but once I was in I felt a strong bond with the characters and their conflicts. I do think the story was a little predictable, but the execution was strong enough that it did not affect my enjoyment much. 8/10
Republic of Theives, by Scott Lynch - Award Finalist
This book is somewhat a return to form for the Gentlemen Bastards after I thought the last book was a little slow. It’s witty, it’s fun, and it felt so good to get answers to some of the mysteries established in the very first book. Honestly, I’m glad I waited so long to read this because now I might still remember it by the time the last book finally releases. 9/10
The Original, by Brandon Sanderson and Mary Robinette Kowal - Standalone (HM)
This was around the point I realized I had not very much time left for this challenge and wanted to focus on shorter stories to make sure I could finish. This one is an audiobook collaboration and I think its biggest flaw is length. It feels like this premise could have been fleshed out far more
The Sandman: Book of Dreams, by Various Authors - Short Stories
I found this randomly in a used bookstore about a month after watching the show and had to check it out. It had a bunch of stories in great variety, but the vast majority were interesting, creepy and unique. I didn’t quite get through all 20 stories in the collection but I hope to do so eventually, they are worth the time. 8/10
Priest, by Matthew Collvile - Self-published
Matt is one of my favorite youtubers, and I always wanted to check out his self published novels. They are set in what is more or less a D&D setting, and are meant to be callbacks to the hardboiled detective genre. This one was very interesting, despite some length it kept me turning pages. In the end I was a little dissatisfied with the resolution to the mystery, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the ride. 8/10
The Builders, by Daniel Polansky - Non-human Protagonist (HM)
I liked the pitch to this book - Redwall but everyone drinks and shoots guns. However, it left me underwhelmed by the end. I was not very engaged in the plot, and while some characters I really liked some gave me no emotion at all. Part of that was the short length of the book, it felt like it really could have benefitted from more fleshing out. 5/10
Overall I greatly enjoyed doing this! I’m glad this challenge exists and next year I’ll be back with a real completion of a card. I got 12/25 Hard Mode and I definitely think those are rookie numbers, I can pump those numbers up. A hearty thanks to everyone here who bothers to read this as well as those who put their time into organizing Bingo, it was a great companion for my reading this year.

2023.03.31 16:53 andyr072 Is there a way to set up a 2nd 2FA in addition to the main phone one to sign into an O365 user account?

I have users that I have assigned 2fa to their cell phones but on many occasions I want to log into their O365 accounts but can't because the code goes to their cell phones and they are not always available to me to give me the code. Can I add a 2nd 2FA that sends it to either my cell phone as well or possibly to a the Microsoft Authenticator app. I looked at the 2FA settings for the users in O365 and it only seems to offer the single option of using a phone number. No way to add a second option.

2023.03.31 16:53 LongishRod Is it just me or does NI/Belfast have a massive amount of selfish pricks?

you cant go out without some ballbag doing something incredibly selfish and not giving a shit about others
recently:
was at a petrol station and a taxi man was smoking in the forecourt and he flicked his finished burning cigarette butt towards the filling pumps. I said to him something like 'you shouldnt be smoking here' and he was like 'im not smoking mate' and i said 'i just saw u finish that and chuck it' (pointing at the burning butt near the pump) and he was like 'whatever, fack aff' and then I said 'you cant even put it out and put it in the bin?' and I pointed towards the bin that he was actually leaning on (he was leaning on a bin having a smoke) and he again got more aggressive like 'fACK AFF!'
was enjoying one of the local national trust mansions and some woman got out of her car smoking a cigarette, with kids in the car, and just dumped the burning cigarette butt while she was walking between the carpark and entrance to the property. There were bins everywhere. Disgusting. Imagine having this lovely area and some prick just blatantly litters a stinking cigarette butt infront of everyone. I was tempted to lift it up and throw it in her face like 'Yo, you dropped this?!' but couldnt be bothered causing a confrontation and last thing i want is to end up dead because I got mad over some petty shit and got myself stabbed.
was recently at the hospital and the foyelobby was filling with cigarette smoke & absolutely stinking, there were sick people/babies and everyone breathing this shite in and plenty of people looking round like 'where the fuck is that cigarette smoke coming from?' look on their face. At the front doorway, there was a group of 3-4 people family all smoking cigarettes right in the doorway, and everytime it opened it seemed to create a wind tunnel and pull air into the lobby. Now, the ENTIRE hospital grounds including the carpark, all outside areas, entrances, and mini-roads in the hospital property all have big no smoking signs.
was recently at a smaller health clinic and whilst I had to drive around looking for a parking space, some guy fit as a fiddle comes straight into the disabled spot out the front and he has no blue badge, hops out of the car and makes it in before me. Inside, hes standing vaping in the queue to the front desk and blowing this shit for everyone to breathe in. I'm pretty sure vaping in a health centre is not allowed but I couldnt find any law except the smoking one when I looked it up, even if it was legal, how entitled are you to not only vape niccotene and other stinking chemicals, but you cant even wait 2 fucking minutes to do it outside, and youre doing it in the ONE place that has sick/vulnerable people waiting around

Driving. dont even get me started, but for example on the westlink when its busy there are guys just constantly switching lanes the moment another lane opens up abit, then they're forcing their way back into whatever other lane happens to be moving better. no indicators, using the empty right-hand lane at roundabouts to go straight ahead and skip the queue, or overtaking early over the hatched areas to get infront of other queues of people who are genuinely waiting for the lane to open up into 2 lanes. doing like 90+ in a 70mph zone so youre overtaking maybe youre doing 75 on a motorway passing some traffic who are at ~65 and you see some rocket in your mirror absolutely gaining on you then if you do/not let him pass hes doing well in excess of you, who is allready at like 75mph. guys blatantly using their phone while driving

2023.03.31 16:51 UlnaternativeUser Emailed by the GMC

Got an email this morning from a named person at the GMC. The subject line started with "For Action: GMC" and the first line preview that came up on my phone started with them quoting my full legal name and my GMC number.
It ended up being a reminder to fill out the National Training Survey which isn't due for another month.
I mean c'mon guys. Do you think they do this for a laugh? Because if so - my soul nearly left my body as a self defence mechanism. Can it not be titled something like "National Training Survey - One Month Left!" Or "DONT PANIC!"?
For full disclosure the actual title of the email was "For Action: GMC NTS" but my vision was already blurry from the tears that had begun to gather.
