SB 8.12: The Mohinī-mūrti Incarnation Bewilders Lord Śiva

Srimad Bhagavata Mahapurana
12My Lord, I have seen all kinds of incarnations You have exhibited by Your transcendental qualities, and now that You have appeared as a beautiful young woman, I wish to see that form of Your Lordship.
13My Lord, we have come here desiring to see that form of Your Lordship which You showed to the demons to captivate them completely and in this way enable the demigods to drink nectar. I am very eager to see that form.
14Śukadeva Gosvāmīsaid: When Lord Viṣṇu was thus requested by Lord Śiva, who carries a trident in his hand, He smiled with gravity and replied to Lord Śiva as follows.
15The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: When the demons took away the jug of nectar, I assumed the form of a beautiful woman to bewilder them by directly cheating them and thus to act in the interest of the demigods.
16O best of the demigods, I shall now show you My form that is very much appreciated by those who are lusty. Since you want to see that form, I shall reveal it in your presence.
17Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: After speaking in this way, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu, immediately disappeared, and Lord Śiva remained there with Umā, looking for Him all around with moving eyes.
18Thereafter, in a nice forest nearby, full of trees with reddish-pink leaves and varieties of flowers, Lord Śiva saw a beautiful woman playing with a ball. Her hips were covered with a shining sari and ornamented with a belt.
19Because the ball was falling down and bouncing up, as She played with it Her breasts trembled, and because of the weight of those breasts and Her heavy flower garlands, Her waist appeared to be all but breaking at every step, as Her two soft feet, which were reddish like coral, moved here and there.
20The woman’s face was decorated by broad, beautiful, restless eyes, which moved as the ball bounced here and there from Her hand. The two brilliant earrings on Her ears decorated Her shining cheeks like bluish reflections, and the hair scattered on Her face made Her even more beautiful to see.
21As She played with the ball, the sari covering Her body became loose, and Her hair scattered. She tried to bind Her hair with Her beautiful left hand, and at the same time She played with the ball by striking it with Her right hand. This was so attractive that the Supreme Lord, by His internal potency, in this way captivated everyone.
22While Lord Śiva observed the beautiful woman playing with the ball, She sometimes glanced at him and slightly smiled in bashfulness. As he looked at the beautiful woman and She watched him, he forgot both himself and Umā, his most beautiful wife, as well as his associates nearby.
23When the ball leaped from Her hand and fell at a distance, the woman began to follow it, but as Lord Śiva observed these activities, a breeze suddenly blew away the fine dress and belt that covered her.
24Thus Lord Śiva saw the woman, every part of whose body was beautifully formed, and the beautiful woman also looked at him. Therefore, thinking that She was attracted to him, Lord Śiva became very much attracted to Her.
25Lord Śiva, his good sense taken away by the woman because of lusty desires to enjoy with Her, became so mad for Her that even in the presence of Bhavānī he did not hesitate to approach Her.
26The beautiful woman was already naked, and when She saw Lord Śiva coming toward Her, She became extremely bashful. Thus She kept smiling, but She hid Herself among the trees and did not stand in one place.
27His senses being agitated, Lord Śiva, victimized by lusty desires, began to follow Her, just as a lusty elephant follows a she-elephant.
28After following Her with great speed, Lord Śiva caught Her by the braid of Her hair and dragged Her near him. Although She was unwilling, he embraced Her with his arms.
29-30Being embraced by Lord Śiva like a female elephant embraced by a male, the woman, whose hair was scattered, swirled like a snake. O King, this woman, who had large, high hips, was a woman of yoga-māyā presented by the Supreme Personality of Godhead. She released Herself somehow or other from the fond embrace of Lord Śiva’s arms and ran away.
31As if harassed by an enemy in the form of lusty desires, Lord Śiva followed the path of Lord Viṣṇu, who acts very wonderfully and who had taken the form of Mohinī.
32Just as a maddened bull elephant follows a female elephant who is able to conceive pregnancy, Lord Śiva followed the beautiful woman and discharged semen, even though his discharge of semen never goes in vain.
33O King, wheresoever on the surface of the globe fell the semen of the great personality of Lord Śiva, mines of gold and silver later appeared.
34Following Mohinī, Lord Śiva went everywhere near the shores of the rivers and lakes, near the mountains, near the forests, near the gardens, and wherever there lived great sages.
35O Mahārāja Parīkṣit, best of kings, when Lord Śiva had fully discharged semen, he could see how he himself had been victimized by the illusion created by the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Thus he restrained himself from any further māyā.
36Thus Lord Śiva could understand his position and that of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who has unlimited potencies. Having reached this understanding, he was not at all surprised by the wonderful way Lord Viṣṇu had acted upon him.
37Seeing Lord Śiva unagitated and unashamed, Lord Viṣṇu [Madhusūdana] was very pleased. Thus He resumed His original form and spoke as follows.
38The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: O best of the demigods, although you have been amply harassed because of My potency in assuming the form of a woman, you are established in your position. Therefore, may all good fortune be upon you.

In the Brahmanda Purana when the wandering sage Narada tells Shiva about Vishnu's Mohini form that deluded the demons, Shiva dismisses him. Shiva and his wife Parvati go to Vishnu's home. Shiva asks him to take on the Mohini form again so he can see the actual transformation for himself. Vishnu smiles, again meditates on the Goddess, and in place of Vishnu stands the gorgeous Mohini. Overcome by lust, Shiva chases Mohini as Parvati hangs her head in shame and envy. Shiva grabs Mohini's hand and embraces her, but Mohini frees herself and runs further. Finally, Shiva grabs her and their "violent coupling" leads to discharge of Shiva's seed which falls "short of its goal," suggesting the act was not consummated. The seed falls on the ground and the god Maha-Shasta ("The Great Chastiser") is born. Mohini disappears, while Shiva returns home with Parvati

Why and how did Lord Shiva, the supreme yogi, fall in love with Mohini? Any Shiva bhakt will be shocked if they read about this! Also, he is already married to Parvati, who is Tripura Sundari, the most beautiful woman in the three worlds? Finally, I am aware of answers that state that this union was for the birth of Ayyappa or that this happened because Lord Vishnu is supreme and whatnot. However, I am searching for a different answers. Please give me your answers.

Dr. Shizumura struck me as a no nonsense sort of woman, walking with a long and confident stride, I had to make many hasty steps, in fact it would be fair to say that I practically scurried to keep up with her. She looked straight ahead and if it weren’t for the fact that she was talking to me I’d have thought I was forgotten completely.
“You’re on the planet of Manami, and the city of Johatsu, situated in the country of Kaminaru. We’re ruled by the Tomaru royal family, and situated on the southeastern coast of the continent. Your slate, which we’re going to get you, is how you’ll do all of your transactions, track your progress, skills, identify yourself, and so on.”
“This is a lot to take in.” I interrupted her ‘lecture’ and she finally at least looked in my direction.
“You’re in another world. That’s to be expected, isn’t it?” She looked me up and down again as if she were questioning an appraisal of her own. It was a polite way of asking, ‘are you stupid?’
I also got the feeling that the only reason she was being this polite was because she owed me a life debt.
“Maybe so, but it’s still a lot. One minute I’m going back to my home, now I don’t even have one.” I insisted, and she sighed, pushing up the glasses against her face again.

“Yes. I’ll show you how to use your slate, and load a program on here that will help you understand how this world works. Just ignore the part about being the special chosen hero.” She said, and I frowned.
“Right, because I’m not. I’m just the guy… girl who saved your collective tails.” I answered. It was hard not to be a little bit snippy. But I also made a mental note to get used to being a girl now.
That seemed to have an effect on her. “A poor choice of words on my part.” She replied, and was at least chastened enough to fall mute for just a little while.
When she spoke again we’d gone down two flights of stairs in a lone sterile hall, already the differences between my world and this one were becoming apparent in little things. Back home, offices had silly motivational posters hanging in even intervals on the walls. Here, the doors had the space between them broken up only by more wall. No posters, not even any potted plants.
It was all very sterile. So drab was it that I was glad when she started talking again. And when she spoke, she started as if she’d never stopped. “Since we don’t have a spot for you, you’ll sort of have to make your own way, but we may be able to give you some token jobs to help you get by until the machine is fixed. Then, if you like we can try to send you back home. Although-” She stopped in her tracks right outside of a thick metal door and I stopped one pace behind her.
“If you don’t mind my saying, you don’t seem to have a reason to go home, not much going on from what you said, so why not stay here? It’s not a bad world, mostly. You might like it more.” She suggested, and I mentally winced at her blunt assessment.
“I’d still like to have the choice.” I said, and she shrugged, her tail swishing a little.
“Have it your way. Come on in, this is the office where the occasional summoned ‘person’ can get registered for citizenship, get their slate, and file all their paperwork. You’re lucky, this didn’t exist until a few years ago, before that, new people would have to go all over the city, now we have a single office for everything in the same building. It’s more efficient this way.” Dr. Shizumura said and after she put her hand on a flat panel on the door, five long vertical lines formed in the door, and then the various divisions rose up into the ceiling like a portcullis.
The door opened to reveal a perfectly ordinary looking wooden desk that went from one wall to the next, each space divided by head high walls, and a dogman with graying fur sitting down in front of me. His desk was clean except for a large feather quill, an inkwell, some papers, and a set of flat stones a little larger than my hand with fingers spread open.
“A new hero? Do I need to up my insurance?” The dogman asked, he looked more than a little bit worried, if wide eyes were any indication. His graying fur and floppy long ears were actually kind of cute, in the way old dogs typically work, but he had very human arms and hands.
‘This is going to take some getting used to.’ I realized.
“No. No, nothing like that.” She clarified to him, and the dogman exhaled with relief.
‘This person is absurdly blunt.’ I thought, but went along with her.
“But this is a special exception, still a summon, so you can take care of them like you usually do.” She said and then stepped out of my way and said to me…
“You just give them the information they ask for, and I’ll brief you along the way.” She said, and the dogman took what appeared to be a chalk white piece of stone off of a stack beside his right hand and laid it out in front of me.
“Place your hand on this and answer the questions as I ask them.” He said, and when my hand was flat on the surface he asked for my information.
“Name? Purpose of summon? Special skills? Race? Sex? Age? Ambition?”
As he asked these questions, they began to appear in list form above my hand, the letters shaped in a dim purple light.
“Aiko Tsuniki. Janitor and tinker. Tinkering and creative builds. Kitsune. Female. Twenty-three.” Those were easy enough to answer, but I was stumped at the last one.
I cocked my head. “You have to pick ‘something’ otherwise it can’t provide any guidance or support.”
“I don’t know… launch a ship into space!” I plucked the idea out of the air, and they looked at me dumbfounded, both of them.
“That’s… dangerous. That’s absurd. You can’t do that…” The dogman shook his head.
“Oh, can I change it?” I asked, and Dr. Shizumura quickly agreed.
“Absolutely.”
“Um, to build awesome things!” I answered, and one by one the answers I gave appeared in place of the questions.
The letters then ‘retracted’ through my palm and embedded themselves on the slate, then faded away.
“Now go from your palm to your thumb.” The dogman instructed me, and I placed my thumb on the slate.
“Create Universal account.” He said and placed his thumb on the top center of the slate.
“All money is accounted for on that.” The Dr. said, pointing down at my slate. “Transfers between individuals and groups are instant, and done in the universal currency called ‘Creds’. If you do need to see someone for a ‘special use’ transaction, you can find something called a ‘Credxchange’ for a third party certification. But you’ll probably never need that.”
I realized that their ‘credxchange’ was a sort of a blend between a bank and an escrow service.
“Guild halls also offer this service, but only to members.” She was probably going to say more, but the familiar phrase had me yank my head up from where I was looking, directly to her.
“Like, adventurer’s guilds?!” I piped up and all my tails began to go wild behind me, creating quite a breeze, as the air came back and blew the feather quill out of the inkwell and scattered the papers behind him.
“Watch it!” The dogman shouted and bent down to pick up the quill and grumbling, snatched up the papers as they drifted toward the floor.
“Sorry!” I exclaimed and stopped the spontaneous wagging.
“Yes. Like an adventurer’s guild.” She said, “Guilds are how we handle almost everything. There are guilds for finance and construction, mining and metalworking, everything. If you want to work, you must join a guild at least as a novice entry. After that?” She shrugged, “They all have their own ranking systems.”
“I see.” I said, and for once, I did. This much made sense to me, it was a real relief to find that much.
“If that’s what you’d like to do-” she said and looked at the still grumbling dogman, who nodded at her.
“She’s done here.” He said, then looked at me, “If you lose that slate, there’s a considerable fine, and if you can’t pay it, you’ll have to spend a lot of time in public works teams to cover the fine.”
“I’ll keep that in mind. But what if it breaks?” I asked.
He let out a barking laugh as he straightened up with the last of his papers in hand. “If you find something that can break it, we’ll replace it at no charge as long as it wasn’t done on purpose. You’d pretty much have to blow it up with a boomshell to risk destroying it.”
“A boomshell?” I asked.
“A special shell fired from the heavy magisteamechs.” She explained, and I had to think that one over.
“Mechsuits?!” I exclaimed and my tails started going nuts again. “You have mechsuits here?!” I shouted with glee, and a bunch of heads popped up over the dividers to see the commotion.
The papers and quills flew off the desk again. “Damn it! Get her out of here before she causes a tornado!” The dogman shouted and got back up from his seat to pick things up again.
Dr. Shizumura tapped the panel on the door and said, “Yes, we do.”
As soon as the door closed behind us she drew a slate out of her pocket and began to tap on it. “If you need to know where something is, just tap on it and ask. If they’re registered with the local government, you’ll find it. It can also direct you to ‘ambition points’ if your magic skill is high enough, but that is not something you can use every hour. You’ll only be able to use it once a day because ‘that’ will draw on the mana of your own body. If you need to pay somebody, input the total like this,” she turned the slate around so I could see it, then tapped a few numbers, “then touch your slate to the person’s own. The money comes out of your account, and goes into theirs.” She then touched her slate to mine, and both our screens briefly flashed white.
“There. That’s one hundred and fifty thousand creds.” She said, and I looked at the total on the screen.
“Is that a lot?” I asked and scratched my head. It sounded like a lot, but for all I knew, that was lunch.
“If you were to stay at a middle quality inn, you would spend roughly one thousand creds in roughly fifteen days. One meal would be perhaps ten creds if you ate something cheap and filling. To buy a small house, you would spend about a third of that if you lived in a lower class or country area. Does that help?” She asked. It did. Her explanation was pretty damn good, I had to admit that.
“It does, so this is enough for me to live for what, a few years without working?” I asked.
“If you’re careful.” She acknowledged as her tail swished behind her, I gathered she didn’t like the way I asked that.
“So, is that everything?” I asked.
“For now. My contact information was included in that as evidence of the transaction, and now I also have yours. You can message people through your slate as long as you are willing to spend a little of your mana to do it. Reach out to me if you need anything. If I can find some work for you, or my colleagues can, I will notify you. If you have specific questions, ask your slate, chances are it can answer. If it can’t, seek a government information office in any city, great or small.”
“Then, thank you.” I said, and she blinked in surprise when I said it.
“Slate. Show me the way to the Adventurer’s Guild.” I said, and a little map began to form.
“Really?” She asked.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I am looking to help my husband find answers to a few questions he has as the executor of his aunt’s estate. For some background, she was single, no children and lived in NJ. She passed away at the end of March 2022. There are 4 different taxes he is responsible for: State and federal before her death (final tax return) and then the state and federal after her death (estate) and most of his questions are based on how those divisions are made.
We are coming up on the anniversary of her death and it’s taken this long to sort out house sales and her physical belongings, paying her debts, getting the stock companies to send us the information on her accounts ect. He is feeling a significant amount of stress related to this and I’m just trying to help ease the burden where I can so, please forgive me if these questions are ignorant or don’t make sense.
She had a small number of stocks in 9 companies and there’s a few questions he has about paying the taxes on them but I would appreciate any help or enlightenment you could offer to any of these. Thank you! She had an earned income of approximately $17000 a year and $4500 of that was social security (which we believe is taxed at a lower rate?) the rest came from stock dividends. Is he even required to file state and federal tax returns for such a low income? If so, when do estates have to file federal income taxes for the year 2022?
How are dividend payments and their associated taxes split before and after the owners death? Is it split by the exact date of death, by the quarter she died in or something else we haven’t considered? Basically, how should he do the calculation of where it should be split so that the final taxes and estate taxes are paid correctly. He has received 1099s for some of them so far and none of them are split between before/after her death so we are unsure of how the responsibility on paying the taxes on the dividends is separated and how should it be listed on the tax forms. Also, should the companies be responsible for providing him with 2 separate 1099s? As the one company he was able to talk to said they just don’t do that. One of the companies (Home Depot) reinvested the dividends back into purchasing further stocks, how is that supposed to be split and listed on the taxes? Is it considered income?
As for the estate taxes, she owned two houses at the time of her death. Her childhood home that she had inherited at her fathers death in 2013 and a small detached house in a retirement village. We are not expecting to receive a 1099-S for the small house as it sold for less than 250k. We have one for the larger house. How do we account for the sale of the larger home that was sold on the state and federal estate taxes? Are the real estate profits combined as they're the same type of income or is the sale of the smaller house not needed to be listed on the estate return since its below the threshold?
Is the CPA territory? If so, do these questions make sense? Any enlightenment is appreciated!

Went to visit my sick mother at her home to check up on her. I parked in the shared driveway between her house and her neighbors. As her neighbor left, she side swiped my unattended car and caused somewhere around $3,000-$6,000 in damage. My car was not blocking, in the way or anything of that matter... she just didnt look. She took out the rear quarter panel, bumper, rear valence, wheel and something suspension wise as there is now a whining/humming sound. This is now the second time she has hit my unattended car. Because it was provate property, no police report could be filed. Her insurance is "investigating" the accident and taking their sweet time (over a week). Meanwhile, I'm stuck without a car as I don’t think its a good idea with the suspension issue and her insurance will not cover a rental until they accept fault. I'd like to sue for diminished value as well as something else but I'm unaware what as I don't know legal stuff. Any and all advice welcome please and thank you

Title is the long and short of the situation. I just got back from a 10 day vacation and noticed the rear driver's quarter panel on my 2019 WRX STi was heavily scratched and gouged. I live in a house separated into 4 apartments. There's two different parking areas and one of the two spots I get is in a shared driveway with my upstairs neighbor.
My neighbor parks directly beside me parallel to my car. And her younger daughter parks beside her but perpendicular. I noticed the scratches the night I got home from vacation, and I confronted my neighbor yesterday. The mom was completely taken by surprise, the daughter immediately denied hitting my car (she's a teenager who recently got her license).
Me and Mom walk around daughters car, and on her passenger front quarter panel has some scratches AND some paint marks that suspiciously match the blue color of my car. Mom goes and talks to her daughter, and comes back 20 minutes later saying her daughter is still denying it.
Mom wants me to get a quote and says we can work it out. I tell mom that I've already filed two previous claims with similar scratches and that I paid my $1000 deductible and my insurance paid just as much if not more each time. Mom is immediately taken back by surprise and was thinking it would be a few hundred bucks.
I'm going today to see if a body shop can give me a rough estimate. I'm hoping it will scare the mom and daughter into actually admitting she hit my car.
I've filed two claims with my car previously, one was a similar situation where it got hit while parked but I don't know who hit it. The second claim was from a shopping cart getting blown into my car by wind. I've never been involved in an incident where I know with reasonable certainty who caused the damage. So I am curious how I should proceed, especially since they're refusing to admit fault.
