According to a document released Tuesday, the U.S. Internal Revenue Service is considering whether non-exchangeable tokens (NFTs) should be taxed on par with other collectibles such as stamps, artwork and vintage wines.
The IRS and Treasury Department are "seeking feedback for upcoming edicts regarding the tax treatment of NFTs as collectibles under tax law," which implies less favorable treatment under capital gains tax rules and with consequences if assets are acquired through individual retirement accounts, the statement said.

Best Interior Designer, Owner and Contractor Relationship

The relationship between the parties involved in a construction project can be complex, and it is important to understand the roles and responsibilities of each party. Generally, the Designer, Contractor, and Owner are the primary parties involved in the construction process. The Designer is responsible for designing the work, preparing detailed drawings, coordinating and supervising the work at the site. During the design phase, the Designer serves as an objective professional, endeavoring to carry out the Owner's wishes. In the construction phase, the Designer acts in a dual capacity, serving as the Owner's professional advisor and agent, and an impartial interpreter of the Contract Documents upon written request of the Owner or Contractor.
It is important to note that the Interior Designer signs a Contract with the Owner, the Owner-Interior Designer Agreement. The Contractor signs a Contract with the Owner, the Owner-Contractor Agreement. There is no contractual obligation between the Designer and Contractor. However, the Designer is responsible for administering the Contract between the Owner and Contractor as a result of their contractual agreement with the Owner.
The Designer's responsibilities include interpreting and enforcing the provisions of the Contract Documents upon the written request of either the Owner or Contractor. They are responsible for determining if the Contractor's work is in accordance with the Contract Documents and rejecting defective work. However, the Designer's authority does not extend to directing construction techniques, the time in which the work is done, safety procedures, or sequences of construction. They are not responsible for construction means, methods, techniques, or safety precautions for the project. Nor are they responsible for the acts or omissions of the Contractor. The Contractor is responsible for construction means, methods, and techniques unless the Contract Documents give other instructions concerning these matters.
In addition to their responsibilities as outlined in the Owner-Interior Designer Agreement, the Designer is also the Owner's professional adviser throughout the project. The Owner furnishes the relevant information concerning program requirements and the site, pays for the cost of professional services, and pays for the cost of the work associated with the development of the project.

Changes In The Work
The construction process involves several parties, including the Designer, Contractor, and Owner. The Designer is responsible for designing the work, preparing detailed drawings, and supervising the work at the site. The Contractor executes the project in accordance with the drawings, and the Owner provides relevant information about the program requirements and site. Throughout the project, the Interior Designer serves as the Owner's professional adviser, helping to carry out the Owner's wishes during the design phase and administering the Contract between the Owner and Contractor during the construction phase.
It is important to note that the Interior Designer signs a Contract with the Owner, outlining their duties, including the administration of the Contract between the Owner and Contractor. The Designer has the responsibility to interpret and enforce the provisions of the Contract Documents and determine if the Contractor's work is in accordance with the Contract Documents. However, the Designer is not responsible for directing construction techniques, safety procedures, or sequences of construction.
Change orders may occur during the project, which are written instructions to the Contractor authorizing a change in the scope of the work, Contract sum or Contract time. These orders are based upon agreement among the Owner, Interior Designer, and Contractor. The Designer must obtain prior permission from the Client before issuing Construction Change authorization to the Contractor and must not make changes without consulting the Client.
Heights Jaipur is one of the best interior design colleges in Jaipur that offers a wide range of courses for students interested in pursuing a career in interior design. With experienced faculty, industry-relevant curriculum, and modern facilities, we provide our students with the best possible education and training.
Fire safety
Fire safety is a critical concern in interior design, and designers must take appropriate measures to prevent fires. Overloading electrical wiring and lavish furnishings are common causes of fires. Lack of maintenance of electrical wiring, blocked fire exits, and defunct fire extinguishers also contribute to unsafe building interiors. Interior Designers should educate their clients on the necessity of automatic fire detection alarm systems.
During a fire, heat produces expansion and contraction of the affected material, leading to serious damage to the structure. Therefore, Interior Designers must pay close attention to door frames and shutters to ensure they meet fire safety standards. Fire-resistant doors must automatically close by floor spring or overhead door closer, and door frames should be secured to the wall by holdfast and not by screws, which can give way during a fire. A fire escape staircase door should not have any locking device from inside or outside to enable easy escape during a fire.
False ceilings
False ceilings are a common feature in buildings and can be made from a variety of materials. However, wood framing and wood panelling should be avoided as they can pose a fire hazard. Instead, aluminium sections are preferred, particularly in public buildings.
AC ducts
To prevent the spread of fire in AC ducts, fire dampers should be installed. These prevent the spread of fire by closing off the ducts.
Water sprinkler systems
Water sprinkler systems are another effective way to control fires. Pipes connected to water mains in the ceiling are provided with melting bulbs at the junctions. If a fire breaks out, the bulbs will melt, and the automatic sprinkler system will activate to control the fire.
Automatic smoke detectors
Automatic smoke detectors are essential in detecting fires. As soon as the temperature rises, the detector will sound an alarm. In some buildings, detectors are set up to notify the fire department automatically.
Fire Alarm System
A fire alarm system is a common method of alerting people in the event of a fire. The alarm is usually set up to sound on a specific floor or throughout the entire building.
Emergency lighting
Emergency lighting is another important safety feature in the event of a fire. It is connected to a separate generator and smoke detection system, ensuring that it will still work even if the power goes out.
Fire Detection System
A fire detection system is a network of thermostats or other approved sensors that can detect the presence of fire and automatically signal an alarm.
Smoke Detector
Smoke detectors are electronic fire alarms that are activated by the presence of smoke.
Fire Extinguisher
Fire extinguishers are portable devices used to put out small fires by ejecting pressurized water or special chemicals. They are classified based on the type of fire they can extinguish.
Sprinkler System
Sprinkler systems are apparatuses that can automatically extinguish fires in a building. They consist of a network of pipes installed in or below the ceiling, connected to a suitable water supply, and supplied with valves or sprinkler heads that open automatically at a certain temperature.
Wet-Pipe System
Wet-pipe systems are sprinkler systems containing water at sufficient pressure to provide an immediate, continuous discharge through sprinkler heads that open automatically in the event of fire.
Wet-Pipe System
Dry-pipe systems are sprinkler systems containing pressurized air that is released when a sprinkler head opens in the event of fire, allowing water to flow through the piping and out the opened nozzle.
Firepump
Fire pumps provide the required water pressure in a standing pipe or sprinkler system when pressure in the system drops below a pre-selected value.
Hydrant
Finally, hydrants are upright pipes with one or more nozzles or spouts for drawing water from a main, especially for fighting fires.
It is important to consider all these fire safety features when designing building interiors to ensure the safety of occupants in the event of a fire.
Heights Jaipur is a leading fashion design institute in Jaipur that offers comprehensive courses for students interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry. Join us today to turn your creative passion into a successful profession.
Class 'A' Fire
A Class 'A' fire involves ordinary combustible materials such as wood, paper, and cloth. In these fires, the cooling effect of water is crucial for extinguishing the flames.
Class 'B' Fire
A Class 'B' fire involves flammable liquids such as gasoline, oil, and grease. These fires require the exclusion of air and inhibition of the release of combustible vapors to be extinguished.
Class 'C' Fire
A Class 'C' fire involves live electrical equipment, which requires a non-conducting extinguishing medium to be used.
Class 'D' Fire
A Class 'D' fire involves certain combustible metals such as magnesium or sodium. To extinguish these fires, a non-reactive, heat-absorbing extinguishing medium is required.
Fire Separation
Fire separation refers to any floor, wall, or roof-ceiling construction that has the required fire-resistance rating to confine the spread of fire.
Fire Wall
A fire wall is a wall that has the fire resistance rating to prevent the spread of fire from one part of a building to another. It extends from the foundation to a parapet above the roof and has all openings restricted to a certain percentage of the wall length. The wall is also protected by a self-closing or automatic-closing fire assembly.
Fire Door
A fire door assembly includes all required hardware, anchorage, frames, and sills, and has the required fire-resistance rating for its location and use.
Fire Damper
A fire damper automatically closes an air duct in the event of a fire to restrict the passage of fire and smoke. It is required where a duct penetrates a fire wall, fire-rated shaft, or other fire separation.

2023.03.22 07:27 Hot_Bet_7894 Arthur Brown - serial killer?

He could well have been one of Australia's worst serial killers, who perhaps remarkably escaped conviction on any charge.
Brown was born in Merinda and spent most of his life in North Queensland.
He worked mainly as a maintenance carpenter for the department of public works, where coworkers remembered him as a polite and obsessively neat man who always had sharp creases ironed into his work clothing.
Hester Porter
In 1944 he married Hester Porter (née Andersen), who had 3 children from a previous marriage. Hester later told her older sister Milly that she had once caught Brown molesting a child, and had since tried to keep him away from children.
Later Brown started a relationship with Hester's younger sister, Charlotte, who had 5 children of her own. The affair was "known but not acknowledged" by family members. In 1978 Hester, who was now bedridden with arthritis, died after hitting her head in a fall at home. It was later revealed that the family doctor had signed the death certificate without examining the body, and that Brown had hastily had it cremated days later. Many family members believe Brown murdered Hester.
Charlotte moved in with Brown soon after Hester's death, and the couple married later in the year.
In 1982 another sister of Hester's came forward and confided in family members that she'd been molested by Brown when she was a child. This sparked a string of accusations by yet more family members of childhood sexual abuse at the hands of Brown, with a total of 45 seperate cases. Many of his child victims had been taken to Antill Creek, 25 kms south west of Townsville, to be molested. However, no charges were pursued at the time.
Mackay sisters
7yo Judith Mackay and her 5yo sister Susan disappeared from a bus stop just 200m from their Townsville home on an August morning in 1970. A search was mounted later that day, and their bodies were found two days later in the dry bed of Antill Creek.
Both girls had been raped, strangled and stabbed, and their school uniforms were found neatly folded in their school bags and placed next to each of their bodies.
Several witnesses reported seeing the girls on the morning of the abduction with a suspicious man driving a rare blue Vauxhall Victor, with some reporting the vehicle had a drivers door in a mismatched colour. Other witnesses reported the car was actually a blue Holden, however one witness, a worker at a service station, refilled the vehicle and stated the petrol cap was on the left side of the vehicle, which meant it could not be a Holden.
The physical descriptions of the man given by witnesses matched Brown's somewhat unique wiry appearance, although police at the time focused on finding the vehicle, not the driver - no identikit or drawing was displayed to the public.
Police believed at the time the car was a Holden, and the witness statements suggesting otherwise were discounted.
Brown was working at the Mackay sisters' school at the time of the murders, and relatives later reported instances of strange behaviour by Brown at the time. He seemed obsessed with the case, at one stage he falsely claimed to know the girls' father, and he offered to take other family members to the site "where the bodies were found". He also drove a blue Vauxhall Victor with an odd coloured drivers door at the time - he soon removed the door and replaced it, buried it, before later recovering it and taking it to a local tip, because "he didn't want people bothering him".
A few weeks after the murder, Brown confessed to the killings when speaking to a stranger he had spent the afternoon drinking with in a pub. The conversation was reported to police, who then spoke to Brown and officially discounted the drunken confession.
Years later Brown again confessed to the murders to a workmate, who didn't report the conversation to police, believing Brown had been joking.
Following a Crimestoppers program in 1999, a family member contacted police and the cold case was reopened. Brown was charged with dozens of counts of sexual abuse of children, and the murders of the Mackay sisters. The trial ended with a hung jury, and Brown was later deemed unfit for retrial due to his worsening Alzheimer's.
The case has been closed with all involved satisfied that Brown committed the murders.
Adelaide Oval abduction
Brown is regarded as a suspect, with the identikit of the abductor baring a striking resemblance.
After seeing Browns picture on TV in relation to the the Mackay murder trial, a witness from the Oval case, who saw the two girls being led away by a man, came forward to state that Brown was the man she had seen - this was however 25 years later, and the witness was aged just 14 at the time of the abduction. It can be argued though that Brown's distinctive appearance hadn't changed a great deal in that time.
She had also reported that the man wore horn rimmed glasses, which he had dropped and picked up. Brown was known to wear horn rimmed glasses at the time.
Attempts to establish whether Brown could have been in Adelaide at the time have proven fruitless. Employee records may have shown if he had been on leave from work at the time, but those records have been destroyed, possibly in the Brisbane floods of 1974.
The only reported link to Adelaide was from a former colleague who reported a conversation with Brown during which he mentioned seeing construction of the Adelaide Festival Centre nearing completion. This would have placed him in Adelaide at some stage during a window of time which also coincides with the Oval disappearances.
Beaumont Children
Although no other links have been made, the fresh allegations regarding the Adelaide Oval case has led to suspicion that Brown may have been active in Adelaide - and once again, the identikit of the man seen with Beaumont children when they disappeared bares a resemblance to Brown.
Marilyn Wallman
Fourteen year old Wallman disappeared in Eimeo, Queensland on her way to school in March 1974.
Witnesses reported seeing a blue Vauxhall in the area at the time. Brown and his wife, Hester, had been to visit relatives in Mackay, however Brown's Vauxhall had broken down and the couple returned home by train, with Brown returning to Mackay alone to pick up the car. Depending on some variables, police believe it possible that Brown was passing through Eimeo (around 10km from Mackay) at the time of the disappearance.
Wallman was never seen again and no body was ever found.
Catherine Graham
Eighteen year old Graham was a door-to-door saleswoman who was murdered in July 1975. She was door knocking in the area of Brown's house on the day she was murdered.
Police believe two men were involved in the crime, however Graham's body was found at Antill Creek, close to where the Mackay sisters were found.
Brown died alone in a nursing home in July 2002, leaving instructions that no public death notices be placed. Only one stepdaughter was made aware of his funeral, and he left no surviving blood relatives.
Note: I didn't write this, I just shared it.

2023.03.22 07:05 frankmanagement Top 6 Reasons to Choose Recruitment Firm in Kenya - Frank Management Consult Ltd

A Best Recruitment Firm in Kenya can be quite helpful for this aim since companies are only as excellent as the people they are able to hire. Companies can spend less time and money on hiring by using a talent search and recruitment process that is supported by a sound strategy.
Companies that provide external services to help businesses locate the best applicants are known as recruitment agencies. They are in charge of matching talents with organizations' open positions. They consistently collaborate, managing to uphold the necessary standards and conveying the desires of both sides.
Why to Hire a Recruitment Firm?
These recruiters are knowledgeable about the industry, the market, and the competitors. They are able to use their resources to your benefit and know where and how to find the talent.
Broad Network
A recruiter at Best Recruitment Firm in Uganda knows where to look for the many passive job seekers who are out there. Even though they aren't actively looking for work, some people would be interested in learning about a position. These individuals typically make the finest candidates but you won't find them posting an advertisement.
Save Time
Most businesses cannot afford to have a position available for too long before it starts to negatively impact the company's ability to succeed. We are all too aware of the stress this places on employees who take on more obligations as businesses try to keep up with workloads. Internal recruiters may spend days or even weeks searching job sites, reviewing online applications, contacting candidates, pre-screening, and scheduling interviews.
Save Resources
You need to manage your business. Even if you're fortunate enough to have an HR department, they're probably busy handling regular employee problems.
By engaging the Best Recruitment Firm in Tanzania to handle the hiring and recruitment, you can save money. While filling important positions, you can save your own personnel time and continue with business as usual.
Ability to identify talent
The advantage of a Best Recruitment Firm in Rwanda is that it works with both businesses looking for talent and people looking for job openings. They are therefore in a perfect position to mediate disputes between the two parties as "in the know" brokers.
Recruiting consultants may have a lot of value in knowing who is looking for work, how competent they are, and what kind of wage expectations they have.
Negotiate salaries
As an employer, the last thing you want is to finish the hiring process, select your top candidate, and extend a job offer only to find out that it has nothing to do with income and benefits. Before you start salary talks, recruiters can give you useful tools and help you compare salaries with those paid by other companies in your industry.
Recruitment agencies actively place qualified candidates while also negotiating the pay for the recruiting process.
Offer insight into the industry
Another benefit of hiring recruiting agencies' services is that they offer employment solutions to companies in a range of industry sectors, including finance and accounting, financial services, interim management, technology, and administration.
The Bottom Line
In the current job market, it is difficult and only getting more difficult to compete for the best and the brightest. You may increase your candidate options while saving time and money by working with a Best Recruitment Firm in Kenya. Recruiters are skilled in locating the most qualified individuals to fill your positions as soon as possible.

RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE CAMPAIGN ASSESSMENT, MARCH 21, 2023 Russian President Vladimir Putin appears to be setting conditions to weaponize the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as a method of Russian power projection in advance of Russia’s accession to the rotating UNSC presidency in April. The readouts of the second day of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit with Russian President Vladimir Putin continued to suggest that Putin has not been able to secure the no-limits bilateral partnership with China that he likely hoped for. Putin falsely portrayed the Western provision of depleted uranium ammunition (not suitable for use in nuclear or radiological weapons) to Ukraine as a significant escalation in order to bolster information operations aiming to deter Western security assistance to Ukraine and to place the onus for negotiations on the West. Wagner Group may lose most of its convict force in the upcoming weeks as convicts finish their six-month military contracts. The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardia) launched a criminal investigation into the Deputy Commander of the Rosgvardia’s Central District, Major General Vadim Dragomiretsky. The US Department of Defense (DoD) announced that it authorized a presidential drawdown to provide around $350 million of security assistance to Ukraine. Russian forces continued limited offensive operations along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line. Russian forces did not make any confirmed gains in or around Bakhmut and continued offensive operations along the outskirts of Donetsk City. The Kremlin continues crypto mobilization campaigns to recruit men across Russia for contract service to avoid declaring a second mobilization wave. Russian occupation officials continue to facilitate the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.

2023.03.22 06:31 trovlet Hi, I'm from Israel. after reading the post about us/eu tipping cultures I have a question

I serve in a beach restaurant in Israel, we have alot of tourists from eu and us mostly. The eu guys leave 10%, which is the standard and normal here. But the us guys mostly leave nothing. Under the bill it's written service no included.
How can it be explained? Think the service was good.even if they will leave tips, it won't be more than 10%.
Also, this guys coming are mostly oil companies workers, and as far as I know, are doing pretty damn well financially

2023.03.22 05:29 f00dguy Current Entry Requirements?

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I can't understand the English of entry requirements I found here: https://www.ssm.gov.mo/apps1/PreventCOVID-19/en.aspx#clg22916
I am planning on entering Macau tomorrow. I'm a US resident but have been traveling around Asia a bit. Prior to this I was in Taiwan for about 1.5 months, followed by 10 days in Japan, followed by 7 days in Hong Kong (where I am currently in). My question is, do I need to do anything special to enter Macau? Do I need a negative nucleic acid test report, and if so, do those kits you take at home count?
Here's the entry requirements from the website linked above:
For those who have travelled to or resided in Hong Kong SAR but not Taiwan region or foreign countries With effect from 00:00 tomorrow (14 March), the requirement for the said individuals to take the special manual inspection channels to leave Macao for Mainland China will be lifted. According to the new measures, people who have entered Macao from the Hong Kong SAR without a travel/residence history to Taiwan region or foreign countries within the past 7 days may, within the 7 days from the day after their date of entry, depart from Macao in the ordinary manner (i.e. ordinary manual inspection channels, self-service clearance channels or vehicle channels) without having to present a Macao Health Code or negative nucleic acid test report, regardless of whether they are leaving for Mainland China.
For those who are aged above 3 and have travelled to or resided in Taiwan region or foreign countries, the quarantine requirements remain unchanged It is still required to go through the special manual inspection channels and it is not allowed to take the vehicle channels (except for the driver) when leaving Macao via the Zhuhai-Macao ports, Macau International Airport or ferry terminals for the first time within 7 days from the day after their date of arrival in Macao or Hong Kong SAR. The individuals concerned may leave Macao only after presenting the respective proof below as applicable under different circumstances:
Must present their boarding pass or ferry ticket if leaving for the Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan region or abroad via the Macau International Airport or ferry terminals;
Must present proof of negative nucleic acid test on a sample taken within 48 hours if leaving for Mainland China via any port of Macao.

2023.03.22 05:20 Hicksp91 I’ve had a long journey just to get covered for the things effecting me daily for years. Supplemental claim next?

I got out of the Marine Corps as an 0311/0313 in 2016. Outside of medical records from boot camp and stuff, and PHAs, the only notable thing in my medical SRB is a document from my corpsman just stating that I reported a back injury and subsequent back and hip pain in the aftermath to my corpsman. I was on orders in Spain at the time. Didn’t get looked at or treatment at the time. Took some Motrin and changed my socks.
When I got out I submitted a claim for lower back pain, hip issues, lower back issues, depression and anxiety (which I started to develop but hadn’t been diagnosed yet), and hearing loss and tinnitus.
I submitted the claim, and was scheduled for a hearing test and was given 10% and just denied for everything else without any appointments from the VA at a large VA medical center nearby. I was in college at the time and then started going to to a local contracted VA clinic about my back and hip issues. They gave me a prescription for 500mg of naproxen twice a day to take for 60 days before my scheduled imaging. Shortly before my next appointment I got a call and the contract had been bought out by another company and basically I was going to have to restart with them with a first available consultation appointment months later than my previously scheduled appointment. I was working and going to school full time and fighting full fledged depression and severe anxiety and just gave up.
About a year later after being indecisive about my major, I decided to put college on hold and went into the National Guard as a 25B information technology specialist to get paid for some good schooling and gain some experience (currently getting my IT degree). I got out of the National Guard after 3 years in August 2021. I was not working on anything with the VA during those years because I was serving.
In February of 2022 I resubmitting a claim for the same stuff (also added for a hemorrhoid I first noticed a few days into a field exercise the same week I got pinned Corporal in the Corps). It came back denied as well. Got a call from a guy at the VA who said because the claim for the same stuff was already denied I would have to submit and appeal.
Since then I was just focused on getting care for my issues. Started getting psychiatric treatment for diagnosed depression and general anxiety disorder and chiropractic treatment and physical therapy for my back all through the VA.
Unfortunately the back hasn’t gotten much better. Basically since I got out of the Marine Corps I haven’t been able to sleep through a full night and as the years have gone on (and I’ve gotten out of shape/lost supporting muscle in my back) the pain has just increased dramatically. I resorted to sleeping on the floor on a folded up comforter, getting 2 new mattress in 3 years, sleeping on my electric recliner, or sleeping on the couch. Rotating to a different place each time I woke up in pain. It’s negatively affected me for years with work and school from oversleeping when I would wake up, take some pain medication, apply my ice pack and find a new comfortable place to get back to sleep.
I’m being treated for these things at a VA medical center without being rated for them and I’m worried that because of how my original claim was basically just thrown out that I won’t have much luck moving forward. Getting ready to go to my states department of veterans services to get assistance submitting what I assume will be a supplemental claim.
What are my odds moving forward to get this all corrected?

2023.03.22 05:19 MikeARadio Welcome to the Acuravaporverse

I’ve driven an Acura for many years before getting a Tesla last year due to high gas prices and other reasons
I never had any issues with my Acuras. When I took my car into its final service and told the service tech I won’t be back…. He looked like a hurt puppy as there were not then or now any plans for Acura to have an EV until, 2024 the earliest.
Acura released renders of an EV “concept car” that was so bizarre they later said the actual car wouldn’t look like that.
Now, I see tons of banner ads on sites welcoming me to the Acuraverse.
Let’s be real here…. They don’t even have a “real” car to show you interiors and exteriors of….
They are just late to the party… like Honda and Toyota and Mazda….
Kudos to GM/Chevy, Hyundai, Ford, Tesla, and those other new and legacy brands that understand that EVs are the future. There is no denying.
I just think it’s silly to see Acura trying to stay top of mind by bombarding us with slick banner ads about the Acuraverse. You’re late to the party, Acura.

2023.03.22 05:11 dwc3282 We have been through a fraud department hell…..

We have been Verizon customers for the last 2 1/2 years. Before that we were with AT&T for around 11 years and NEVER have had this kind of issue that we have had the last few days. This all started with ordering new iPhone 14 phones with trade-ins trough Verizon. We ordered iPhone 14 pros on Thursday. They came on Friday before we left for work. I want to stress we need our phones for work. I use mine for my job. If I have no phone I cannot work. My wife is a operating partner of a busy restaurant and has emergencies that crop at all times in her store and others. She gets called all the time. So I handed her the phone and took my phone and we went out the door to work. She tried to activate the phone and that’s where the hell started. Her phone would not activate. She called me and I looked in the myVerizion app and said our service had been suspended for her line only. WTF!?! There was a message that said that to call this number till 11 pm. I was like okay, I guess I will call. So I call the number that it said to call and got a message that said they are closed. This was at like 7 pm CST. So I got absolutely nowhere. I googled for a Verizon store and found they were all closed except for a third party Verizon store down the street from my wife’s store. It closed in like 15 minutes. So I asked her if she could get away from the store to run down to the store and try to get some answers. She ran down there. She and I ran into more problems as we found out that it was fraud prevention at Verizon that had termed her line. My wife did not know the last 4 digits of my social security number. I was listed as the account owner and she is listed as the account manager. I was the one that ordered the phones. I am driving and my wife asks me for my DL which I send to her. Than I get a push notification from Verizon asking me to click to okay access to the account. Which I did. Than I get another push notification asking me to okay account access which I clicked okay and it wanted me to upload my DL. Which I did. The fraud prevention lady that was on the phone with my wife and the store associate was being a real Bi*** to my wife. The store associate was in disbelief at fraud prevention behavior. My wife said they never got my DL. So I was sent another request through email which I had to pull over and complete the steps again. As soon as I did that my wife told me the fraud department HUNG UP on her and the store associate. The store associate gave us a phone number to call directly into fraud prevention. So I called, got though to a fraud prevention representative who verified my information yet again. She said she would re activate the line ASAP. I told my wife this by calling her at work on their phone and telling her this. An hour and half went by still the activation had not happened. So I pulled over again and called fraud prevention this is 9:38 pm CST. I got a hold of somebody and got through my accounting of what has happened before I got done he said oh I think I know what happened. He said let me check something and as he was he was telling me the story. Apparently when someone orders a phone through Verizon, the order is checked for fraud. I told him that there was no fraud intended when we ordered the phones. He said no not us. The last person that ordered the phone before us. Apparently when phones are ordered and fraud determines that there was fraud involved. They put the phones IMEI number on what they call a negative list. Then if the phones get shipped out Verizon tries to recall them with the shipper. He checked the negative list and sure enough my wife’s phone was on it. I asked him to check my phone which I had not even turned on and my phone was not on the list. So by this time it was 9:50 pm CST. He put in a reactivation but then said oh no, it was after 9 pm, so the system would not let him put one through for today and he dated one for tomorrow. He tried to activate through a bulk order. Luckily the phone started to work a little after midnight. However fast forward to Saturday and my wife’s ultra iWatch is still not working away from the phone. However that had to wait till Tuesday. So Tuesday we walked into a Verizon third party store because they had helped before. Our experience at the corporate owned stores have sucked. So we explained the situation with the iWatch and he tried to fix it and could not and had to call Verizon customer service. They transferred him 6 times to one rep after another. Six times. Several reps were asking him if we had not paid for the watch. We bought the watch ultra through Apple last year and financed the watch through our Apple Card. We were not even behind on the payments or anything at all. The rep said that this was a problem with fraud prevention. WTF AGAIN! Verizon had no claim to the watch. The rep transfers his call and the call gets dropped. So he says I have to call fraud prevention again. So I call them again about two hours ago and they tell me it has nothing to do with them. So she noted the account and transfers me back to customer service and stays on the phone with me. However after 5 minutes she says she can no longer hold with me but states she noted the account. Guess what?!? the call to the regular customer service rings and then nothing. Just silence. I check yep I am still contented. I wait for two more minutes with silence and the line goes dead.
So long story short I still don’t have my wife’s iWatch working. We have spent time on Friday night over 8 hours dealing with this. Another 4 hours tonight. Does anybody know of any escalated customer call center? I think there needs to be someone way way up that needs to hear our story. I think I am owed a big phone bill credit or something. The Verizon warehouse and customer service team has failed miserably along with fraud prevention.

2023.03.22 05:08 agreateday Appeal Rejected-Help with Interpretation

My rejected appeal stated --1. " ALL services performed outside the state of Michigan are subject to your out-of-network cost share, unless your provider is in the BCBSM PPO network. " and
2 "Your ordering and performing provider is out of state and ordered lab services that were tested by Quest of Illinois. Therefore your claims correctly processed according to your plan benefit at out of network level".
Who is the provider? I thought the doctor was a provider and Quest Diagnostics is a provider. My doctor is non participating and out of state but I stayed in MIchigan and did my testing with Quest. I also have another out of network (non participating) doctor in MI but all my Quest Labs are billed in Network. What is the difference?
Quest left the state of MI and only has clinics where they draw blood in MI. Once drawn they send it to Illinois. So my out of state doctor (out of network) gets billed by Quest Illionois but my out of network MI doctor gets billed in network . All the blood is sent to Illinois. The doctor has no choice and is not involved with where it gets sent. Quest is s a preferred provider.
I'm trying to appeal to the Department of Insurance but I don't really know how to prove this as the EOB does not state the doctors name just Quest Diagnostics as the provider and I don't have all the Quest bills that shows the doctors names.
Plus all my drugs are paid in network by both doctors

2023.03.22 04:58 ashabash88 Trip Report - 3/8 to 3/19 - Osaka, Tokyo, Nagano with 8 people and some people with mobility issues

I lurked a bunch in this group before my trip so am hoping that a trip report will help others. We had a larger group and a couple people in the group are mobility challenged so some of my tidbits are unique to those aspects.
Some general notes:
-I got a pocket wifi from Ninja Wifi and it was great. I picked it up from Kansai and dropped off at Narita and it was so easy. I rushed through customs and had it before the others were all through. Others in the group were using their travel plans (T mobile and Verizon) and by the end of the trip most were just connecting to my wifi because it was much faster. It wasn't completely perfect and had a couple glitches here and there, but nothing that restarting the unit didn't fix. I did bring my own power bank and 100% needed it.
-We flew into Kansai and landed around 7pm. The entry at Kansai was a breeze. Everyone had done the Visit Japan ahead of time. We took screenshots but there is airport wifi in the customs area so we could have used that as well. We were through and had our bags within 30 minutes.
-It did take us a couple of days to get the hang of the various train lines, reading google maps, etc. A lot of the train station are huge as well so we learned to allow ALOT more time than google suggested for walking, especially since our group moved on the slower side. I tried to prep everyone to add Suica/Pasmo on their phones but myself and my mom were the only ones who actually did. Two people had physical IC cards from a previous trip but the other 4 kept putting it off and ended up not ever getting an IC card. It was a huge pain to stop and get tickets every time and they regretted it by the end of the trip.
-I had saved everything using Google's MyMap before we left but I ended up not using it very much. I chose it so I could color code locations but it didn't integrate very well into the app. I had to click on the saved maps every time I wanted to see what was around us, and you also can't add anything on the app. This could be user error as this was my first time using the MyMaps instead of a list but I'll probably go back to just creating a list within the app next time.
-We brought little goodies with us to hand out in lieu of tips and everyone loved them. Little things like mac nuts (we are from Hawaii) were received with much exclamation and appreciation.
-We were celebrating 3 different birthdays while we were there so we did reserve those dinners, since we had a larger party. We mostly split up for the rest of the meals. I can't speak to how easily we would have gotten in without reservations as we didn't try.
-Like everyone else, I HIGHLY recommend the luggage transfer services. It was so nice to take the train from city to city with just a backpack. We stayed in hotels in each place and the front desk handled it for us each time. I had a larger suitcase and it was about 2000 yen for each of the transfers (Osaka to Tokyo and Tokyo to Nagano). The only time we took our luggage was on the last train ride back to the airport and that's only because we forgot to ask how far in advance we would need to drop off and I was nervous about getting it in time for the flight. It probably would have been fine though. I also left my computer charger in Osaka and the hotel shipped it to me overnight. You usually pay when you drop off your bags but they let me pay that one upon pickup.
-Day 0 - Arrived in Osaka. We stayed at the Swissotel Nankai Osaka and it is located on top of Namba station. This hotel was recommended to us by a flight attendant who travels to Japan frequently and it was great for convenience being right at the train and metro station. It was a 10 minute walk to the Dotonbori area, which was about the maximum that my aunt could walk with her walker.
- Day 1 - day trip to Nara. I signed us up for a free tour with the YMCA EGG Club and it was fantastic. We did get a wheelchair from the Kintetsu station info office. They have exactly one available and it's first come, first serve but our guide said she has never seen anyone use it before. It was perfect for us as there was a lot of walking that day. A few things were not accessible but we could leave the wheelchair outside and my aunt could use her cane.
We split up after the tour to get lunch. Me and an auntie ended up at Maguro Koya for oo toro and it was the perfect first lunch in Japan. A true mom and pop but they did have an English menu and spoke great English. It was only a few blocks from the Kintetsu station as well. Auntie and I had a few cups of sake as well and after a lingering and delicious lunch we went back to the train station and back to Osaka.
After a nap, we took a couple of cabs to the Dotonbori area since we were running late for dinner. In hindsight, it was silly for all of us to cab since the able bodied could have walked in the same amount of time. We didn't know our way around yet, though, so we all just cabbed. Dinner was at the Kanidoraku crab restaurant on the Dotonbori. It was just OK, probably wouldn't go back as there are so many fantastic places in Osaka. After dinner we went to Donki for a little chaos. Uncle nearly had a panic attack at the crowds and needed to wait outside.
-Day 2 - day trip to Kyoto - Only half of us did this as the other half had been before. We wanted to see as much as possible in the day so we reserved a guided taxi tour with Doi Taxi. It was 40,000 yen for our group of 4 and up to 7 hours but there was no way we were going to get to see much if we had to walk and take busses. I had asked him to take us to one temple and requested few stairs and little walking. He started by driving us to Gion and we did get out and walk around a bit. I had requested lunch at Yudofu Sagano in Arashiyama and if you like tofu you must go there! We walked around the Tenryu-Ji temple and gardens after lunch, which was beautiful. The Arashiyama area was packed with people. I thought Gion would be the crowded area but it had nothing on Arashiyama. After the temple we headed back to the train station to go back to Osaka. We probably didn't get quite the bang for our buck that we could have but we were getting very tired.
-Day 3 - free day. We all did our own thing. Some went to Osaka Castle, some did the Aquarium, and some just wandered.
Day 4 - Osaka to Tokyo. The teenagers were not impressed that we woke them up to get to the train station early to get bentos. They would have preferred to sleep and grab Family Mart but the rest of us wanted to browse and pick out the perfect ekiben. The selection was not as large as I was expecting at Shin-Osaka but we did still get some goodies. The teenagers were not impressed by the Nozomi and slept but the rest of us enjoyed our bentos and scenery. We got some beers and highballs from the snack cart and noted that they only took cash or IC cards, not credit cards.
Our hotel in Tokyo was the Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu. It wasn't quite as nice as the Swissotel but had a prime location right on the Scramble and the rooms were decently sized for Japan. My uncle almost had a panic attack when we got out of the Shibuya Station and he saw all of the people but he got used to it. We booked this hotel pretty far in advance and got a great deal. When I checked closer to the trip (just for giggles) it was a lot more expensive.
Day 5 - Tsukiji Market in the morning for breakfast/lunch/shopping then TeamLab Planets. Nothing new to report about those activities but this day is when we started to have issues finding escalators and elevators in the train station. Several stations in Tokyo were under construction and there were a couple of times we couldn't find any accessible options. Luckily, our mobility challenged people aren't totally immobile and could take the stairs but it was very tiring for them. I did appreciate that most of the subways and trains (and busses) have screens that show the stops and the location of escalators and elevators but they weren't always accurate if there was construction.
I really wanted to go to the Shibuya Yokocho for dinner and everyone in the group liked that idea, even the teens. I didn't think there was any chance we would all be able to eat together but we went early just in case. To my surprise we did find one place that could seat exactly 8 (if we crammed, which we did) and it was wonderful. I have no idea what it is called since most of the signs outside are in Japanese but the ownechef/bartender is named Hiro. We had some of my favorite bites of the whole trip there including a uni miso omelet and blue cheese baked mochi. The "menu" was just slips of paper on the wall, all in Japanese, but it was fun to try and use Google Translate and pick random things based on the translation. The mochi, for example, translated as "blue rice". A few of the adults bar hopped after dinner and we had a great time at each place, but Hiro's was my favorite.
Day 6 + 7 - Random Tokyo wandering and nothing interesting or crazy to report. Uncle went to Golden Gai by himself and reported that he liked the Shibuya Yokocho better. He thought Golden Gai seemed like a larger, more touristy version.
We did go to Tokyo Skytree one of these days and for the love, make a reservation if you want to go there. They do let you buy tickets same day but the line was horrendous and we were regretting our lack of planning as we watched the people with reservations walk right up.
Day 8 - Tokyo to Nagano - Our group split at this point. Half started in Shibu Onsen for some relaxation and half went to Lotte Arai resort for some skiing. I was part of the Shibu group so I'll report mainly on that. We chose Shibu because it was close to the snow monkey park and for the onsen experience. Shibu has 9 "public" onsen that only locals and people staying in a ryokan in Shibu get a key for. Getting there was very easy. The shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano took 1.5 hours and then the Dentetsu line to Yudanaka was about an hour. Our hotel picked us up at the train station.
Shibu was one of the highlights of the trip and it was especially relaxing after Tokyo. We stayed at the Shibu Hotel, which is a ryokan and family run for over 100 years. It was a bit of a splurge but we chose to include the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The service was incredible. There are two brothers that are basically shuttling people around all day, to and from the train station and to and from the snow monkey park, and running the hotel. One of the wives and the mother run the front desk. The ryokan also has several public and private onsen for guests. It seemed like a lot of the ryokan in town were similar but as I've only stayed at Shibu Hotel I can only speak for them. Also important to note, they have a few rooms with Western style beds and an elevator, which is the main reason we stayed there. Most of the ryokan only offer Japanese style rooms, which I would have been fine with by myself but did not work for the group.
Shibu was very accessible, which I was not expecting. The town is tiny and the whole thing can be walked easily. Some of the little alleys weren't walker friendly but the main streets were tiled (I think), very smooth and wide enough for the walker. Not all of the onsen were accessible but most had a little step/s or railing so we could all participate. It was some family bonding for sure LOL
Day 9 - Snow Monkeys! We took the hotel shuttle to the park entrance and they even had snow boots for us, as the trail gets icy or muddy depending on the season. It was cold but not icy for us but we still appreciated the boots as it was a bit muddy in spots. It took us about 20 minutes to walk each way but I can see it taking much longer if there's snow or ice. There were so many monkeys and they were very unconcerned with people. No shit throwing or bag stealing was seen, unlike my previous monkey experience in Thailand. You could do this as a day trip from Nagano or even Tokyo very easily. This was not accessible as there are stairs at the beginning and end of the trip and auntie didn't want to try and walk a mile so she stayed at the hotel and enjoyed coffee in the lobby and browsing some of their homemade goodies (green onion miso, yum!).
We then took the local train back to Nagano and checked in to the Metropolitan Hotel, again right at the train station (have you sensed our preference yet). Lunch was at Misoya for my favorite ramen of the trip. I love me some miso. We saw the main temple in Nagano and visited the sake brewery close by.
Day 10 - Last full day and it was raining and cold. We didn't do a whole lot this day because of the rain but did some last minute shopping. At the Tokyu department store we found the best basement grocery with a bunch of food stalls so we grabbed a bunch of different foods and a bottle of local sake for lunch in the room.
Day 11 - Lunch at Misoya again before catching the Shinkansen back to Tokyo Station and then the Narita Express to the airport. We were pretty disappointed in the food and shopping options at Terminal 2, unfortunately. We left Nagano after lunch at 1:30 so had allowed extra time at the airport for dinner and some duty free shopping but nothing was open by the time we got through security at 6pm. We should have had dinner outside of security but we didn't realize nothing would be open. There was one little conbini that has some tuna musubi and egg salad sandwiches so that was dinner. We were more sad that the duty free was closed as we had been planning on buying some of our whisky and sake allotment there. We didn't come home empty handed but just less than we had planned.
Whew, that took awhile to write. I hope someone, somewhere finds any part of this helpful!
