The story of the Imperial Republic of Troy (which I'll simply refer to as Troy going forwards) starts in Afghanistan during early December 2018. The last official transmission received from The Pentagon occurred on November 28th, and with no new news arriving most feared the worst. With almost no air assets, no new supply shipments, and the only real news they knew being of a governmental collapse, panic set in.
Stationed in Kabul the 1st Infantry Division, supported by Army Rangers and elements of the 101st Airborne, were now trapped in an increasingly hostile country without any hope of resupply. Fearing the worst, large scale desertions began. Not helping the matter was the untimely suicide of the 1st's commander: Brigadier General Mordecai Rowlitzki.
This led to his most trusted commanding officer, Colonel Alexander Moore, to take over command of the 1st and it's supporting elements. Immediately, he set about organizing a withdrawal from Kabul, with plans to head east through Iran and then north into Europe.
I won't go into too much detail as to the exact battles, as that'll be saved for the lore companion, but they managed to successfully escape Afghanistan. While somewhat encouraged by their brilliant success in escaping Afghanistan and a victory at Mashhad, their darkest hour was only just beginning.
At Tehran, they narrowly avoided a trap thanks to a last second withdrawal from the city. Iranian forces detonated a crude nuclear device within the city, in the process losing most of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard in the process. While casualties were mercifully only light, it greatly demoralized the remaining forces and blocked their initial path through the Middle East.
Before shifting their forces south hoping in order to move through the various central mountain passes, they took a week long break to recover from Tehran. Then, upon moving through Isfahan, they found large refugee caravans moving towards them. Initially suspecting it to be a hostile force, many of Moore's men fired upon them, before being ordered to stop upon realizing that they were mostly unarmed.
As it turned out, they were fleeing from an Indian invasion that had landed near The Strait of Hormuz. Moore ordered that they be given a clear passage, before attempting to make contact with the Indian forces.
Upon making contact, he found that they were survivors fleeing from the minor nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan. In particular, they were being led primarily by members of the wealthy Zoroastrian minority; in an attempt to reclaim their ancestral homeland. He agreed to ally with them, if only until they could make their way into Kuwait.
Of course, they claimed that they were only doing what's justified in order to reclaim their homeland. In reality, if the testimonies of the refugees were to be believed, they were on a path of genocide. Mosques were burned, religious figures executed, and the only Muslims spared being those that incorporated older Zoroastrian beliefs into their worldview.
But, the alliance was necessary, and he made sure that his scouts were sent first, so as to warn anyone who'd listen about what was about to come. The alliance ended upon the crossing of the Zagros mountains into Kuwait.
It was nearly summer by the time they reached Kuwait, and so they decided to stay there for the duration of the summer. It's really strange. There is this girl in my class. I followed her on instagram, and we had an awkwared chat on insta and she didn't follow me back around december 2022. I assumed she had no interest, and spent the rest of the time until now ignoring her.
She spent the the first 7 weeks of school almost ignoring me. Well not ignoring, just not communicating with me. I didn't mind. She had a few dialogs with me such as asking if I done homework once and such.
Within the last 2 weeks of school her conversations have become more apparent. She is the one of the only student in the school to talk to me(pretty much). A limited array of peers talk to me, but I would rather be left to my own devices. For instance I've only talked to 5/12 people in my math class, and said 1 sentence to two of them. I've also talked to 6/14 people in a science class. Only talk to most of them to ask for assistance. I also sit with away from the rest of the year group, with one of my friends, because I don't like being near them.
I essentially talk to only like 7 people in the entire school. I get the feeling she might think I'm lonely, even though I'm not. I have friends. Just very few of them. In the science class, my lab partner was away. I actually noticed that she tried to negotiate for another group to let me in. Don't know why she did that. I saw her pointing at me while talking to them. I asked them if I could join. They flat out said no lol. So did another group I asked. At that point I just gave up and did homework on my laptop in defeat. I'm sure she heard. Pretty embarrasing. Although in my math class, which I share with her, I have friends whom I talk to.
I did bad on an examination. I'm sure she saw. Teacher said in front of the entire class that it was the first time he saw a student fuck up that badly. It was a practical and I'm crap at them. She asked me later how I did with it.
In math she also defended me when the teacher claimed I was lazy. She also criticized me for coming late to class. No other student really cares and usually doesn't make such claims to my face. a few sometimes congratule the teacher for roasting me, and make comments about my tardiness, but never directly to my face.
I was asking another student in science how about a question on a test. She heard and asked me how I did.
On another day when my lab partner was away, I tried to evade the teacher and just stole the data. During the discussion, a point about data was being risen, and the teacher had us raise our hands. Since I didn't do it, i didn't raise my hand. SHe asked me in front of the entire class which choise I woudl have raised my hand for. I sheepishly admited to the teacher and the class that I stole the results.
I was at the school library and she asked what I was doing there.
There are a few more incidents but these are noteworthy ones. She's friendly with almost all other students. We have no mutual friends. I'm a social outcast pretty much. None of the other students ever interact with me usually except for my friends. I don't mind. In fact I prefer it. She has ADHD if that's relevant to anything. I usually brush her off and avoid eye contact, as there is no reason for my to communicate with her.
We had a very rocky history, where she kept on talking to me, and I kept on yelling at her as I have a low tollerance for people being near me. Mostly my fault. I apologized to her, and have no reason to talk to her again now.

I measure a 25.7, usually buy a 41 and until now – even those have been a hair too roomy. These are snug. I can wear them without socks, which is not ideal for boots.... I think these are best described as a true US 8.5. I normally buy a US 9, because 8,5 Wides are not widely available.

I actually planned to order a lambskin chain and replace the CHANEL logo strap at the back with them to make it a little more low-key. But, the boots are also small for me, so between the DIY and size, I am deciding to sell.
I have not seen an auth version for these searching online, but that seems very common with Chanel in my limited experience.

Dan Morgan, from cybersecurity ratings provider Security Scorecard said the ban shows the importance of regulatory compliance for companies operating in Europe.
"Businesses must prioritise the protection of personal data and comply with the stringent data protection regulations set by the EU - compliance with regulations is not an optional extra."

Consumer advocacy group BEUC also called on EU and national authorities - including data-protection watchdogs - to investigate ChatGPT and similar chatbots, following the filing of a complaint in the US.
Although the EU is currently working on the world's first legislation on AI, BEUC's concern is that it would take years before the AI Act could take effect, leaving consumers at risk of harm from a technology that is not sufficiently regulated.
Ursula Pachl, deputy director general of BEUC, warned that society was "currently not protected enough from the harm" that AI can cause.
"There are serious concerns growing about how ChatGPT and similar chatbots might deceive and manipulate people. These AI systems need greater public scrutiny, and public authorities must reassert control over them," she said.
ChatGPT is already blocked in a number of countries, including China, Iran, North Korea and Russia.

Ok, my title might be a tad dramatic, but the truth is I was dumped back in June of 2022 and I'm still experiencing a lot of pain, loneliness, and depression over it.
I just don't know what to do. I'm not suggesting that the solution is a rebound (Is dating someone 9 months after a breakup even considered a rebound), but I really could use a soft feminine woman to hold, and cuddle with, and watch movies with, and go on night-drives with and just generally share affection with. Someone who will maybe eventually (organically) say all the kind words affirmation I used to hear (and say myself). Someone who I'll catch staring at me with admiration out of the corner of my eye. Someone that I myself can wrap my arms around and hide them under my covers, and bury their face in my chest (affectionately, not aggressively).
I just need someone to help me heal, someone to help me forget, someone to give me hope again (the hope that I won't spend the rest of my days sad and alone).

I just wanted to share my progress on the old family farm house that I bought three years ago. I looked up so many different posts in this community to find answers to my questions, it was a life (and wallet) saver! I was very nervous to tackle this project. My family has owned this 5 acres and house (built in 1898) since 1920. I am the 5th generation to live in it, with a baby on the way making 6 generations. For people wondering how much money we have, I am a teacher along with my wife. I hope this gives some people the confidence to tackle their own projects.
I remodeled the house in two stages. The first stage can be found here. I started this in September of 2019 and moved in during March 2020 (crazy times!). I was 23 and had almost no idea what I was doing. I can't even guess how many hours of YouTube videos I watched. All said and done, the main floor was roughly 1,200 sq ft, with a total of 2 beds (upstairs) and 1 bathroom. It cost me just under $20k to do all of this myself, but we didn't really change the footprint of the house. Buying the house, 90' Morton building, and 5 acres cost me $100k (Nebraska).
My wife and I lived here for a year before I started the next project, here. This took me from roughly March/April of 2021 to early April 2022. We both started new jobs halfway through this second project, otherwise I would have been done around Christmas time. New basement and porch foundation (including lifting the house) cost about $95k. This was the only major thing done by contractors. Once the house was set down, I started the bulk of my project. Everything from here on out was DIY. Building both additions, including all materials (electrical, ductwork, lumber, shingles, re siding and shingling entire house) cost about $60k. I did a lot of the work solo, but my dad would help whenever he could. When my basement is finished this next year, we will have 7 bed, 3 bath and have added over 1,000 sq feet to the main level (then all of the basement).
I'm not saying a project of this magnitude is for everyone. Some people will probably look at this wonder why we didn't tear it down and build new (I wondered myself many nights!). My house and remodel project are not perfect by any means, but I am proud of the work I have done to this point. With hard work and attention to detail, there is so much you can do to improve your house and investment!
