Another Shucked Review
2023.03.22 06:36 WillTravelForFood2 Another Shucked Review
Hello all! I am a long-time lurker, but I've been following the Shucked drama on this subreddit for a few weeks now, so I thought I'd give my two cents.
A bit of background to set the scene: I've been to over 50+ shows, all mostly Broadway as I used to live in NYC, and some in Chicago and DC. Whenever I travel for work, I'm hunting down regional theaters for shows that I can catch. My top 5 include Hamilton, Six, Wicked, Hadestown, and Company. In my lineup for the next few weeks, I have Sweeney Todd, Camelot, Les Mis on tour, Pacific Overtures, and an opera at Lincoln Center. I will watch just about anything that catches my fancy. In my day-to-day, I am also a 12-year-old teenager on the inside who laughs at penis puns and dad jokes.
With that being said, I enjoyed myself at Shucked. It was hilariously funny - if you enjoy one-liners, dad jokes, and puns. If that's not your type of humor, this show is not for you. The guy next to my husband had the best time. The two ladies in front of us didn't laugh a single time the entire show. The music is country-esque, think of Kelsea Ballerini and Dan + Shay instead of the big, loud, red-pickup and cold jeans country artists. It's still a Broadway musical after all.
Shucked is not the newest best thing since sliced bread. I don't think it's in serious contention for any Tony awards. But it's a good old time with big laughs and a very talented cast. I'm a firm believer that not every show on Broadway needs to be a Tony winnenominee to be an entertaining show. With the way the world looks on the day-to-day, sometimes you just want to go see a fun and silly show where you can laugh at a corn-penis joke without thinking deeply. I also paid $50 per ticket for this show, so it's not as if I spent a ton of money.
It's not the best show I've ever seen. It's also not the worst show I've ever seen (It's Cats, I'm sorry.). It's a solid show, with a slightly questionable book, but with a super talented cast and entertaining jokes.

2023.03.22 06:31 Toss_it_away707 No such thing as a quick recovery
I have shared on here previously that my DB lasted over a decade and a half. Yes that does sound crazy doesn't? Feel free to call me stupid for staying. Anyway we have been in recovery now since July 2021 and things continue to improve but of course I still have my doubts. I think that the longer your DB continues, the more damage it causes to your psyche and of course the longer it takes to recover. It is funny how the little things can make you spiral. I had a photo pop up on my phone from July 2019 that was taken on an in-state car trip to visit a historic site and our favorite restaurant in a nearby town. Anyway, the photo reminded me of how unpleasant the first part of the trip was. I had made the mistake of bringing up our relationship while driving to our first stop. My wife's response was pretty ugly. I thought the timing would be good to bring it up since she had had time to recover from the prior school year. I was wrong.
Anyway, her reaction was full of the usual anger, deflection, blame shifting, etc.. After I thought about it later I decided that she didn't even want to be there with me. The good news is that trip made me realize that there was an expiration date on the marriage and that it was approaching quickly.
Fast forward to today and she is a completely different person. She started to change near the end of 2020. Why? Was there something else going on during the DB like an emotional affair? After seeing the old photos I just couldn't let it go and ruminated on it for a couple of weeks. It led to a big argument and of course I had no real evidence of anything like an EA. I realized that after all this time I wanted there to be something more than the stressful job and some resentments that she held onto for too long. How can someone be that way for so long and then change so completely?
Those of you who have left a DB or fixed the DB, did those doubts and fears ever go away?
To those of you who are still in a long term DB, I just want to say that the longer it goes on the worse it will screw up your head!

2023.03.22 06:29 Alphamoonman LPT: Interactions with strangers become so much nicer when you ignore awkwardness on purpose. It's in your best interests to teach yourself to identify the beginnings of awkward moments, and push through it without stopping.
We all go out into the world and do life things, like going shopping and eating at restaurants and waiting in lines. Nearly every stranger you interact with on the daily is going to keep to themselves, mostly not because they don't want to talk to people, but they've lost or haven't developed the social skills we all exercised prior to smartphones.
Awkward situations feel... awkward. And to pay attention to your social interactions to identify the roots of awkwardness leaves you able to deal with them in subversive ways, preventing that awful awkward feeling, both for you and the person you end up talking to.
I personally see this often with those who work cashier jobs. They feel the need to fill the silence. Don't worry about trying to make yourself interesting or fill up the empty space. Nothing wrong with silence! Be confident about that silence; it feels a whole lot better that way.
Personally, as someone with abundant social awkwardness, thinking in this manner has been very liberating, and has made me appear charismatic, so I thought it best to share this mindset with others.

2023.03.22 06:21 nyctrancefan Extend Lease, or Renew and Break/Transfer Later?
Hey everyone - I'm sort of cross posting this from
NYCapartments for more exposure/responses - please let me know if it's appropriate. Thank you!
I live in a nice 2 bed near the Barclays Center, paying 2800/mo total. Unfortunately, I'll be leaving the city this summer to go to Pittsburgh for school. My current lease
ends in May, but due to how I want to wrap things up with my current job and when school starts I'd prefer to
leave in August. I've lived in the Apartment for 1 year and 1 month and signed a 15 month lease. My roommate and I are clean, quiet, and always pay on time. Unfortunately I didn't have the foresight to sign a lease until August.
Having said that, my landlord notified me about renewing, with a new offer of 3500/mo total, which is interestingly what they tried to rent this place for before on streeteasy, before dropping it to 2800/mo that we are currently paying.
Would you guys have any suggestions as to the best way to extend my lease to August/stay until August? I am considering 2 options:
- Renew the lease and leave after August, transferring the lease to someone else/subleasing.
- Pros:
- If I tell the landlord I am renewing, then they will probably be willing to reduce the rent from 3500/mo.
- They will agree to a renewal but may not agree to an extension.
- It should be easy enough to find someone to rent this apartment as its in a nice area, with good amenities (Washer + Dryer in unit, close to new metal appliances, nice countertops etc.)
- Cons:
- Big risk of finding a subleasesomeone to take over the lease. If it ends up being a sublease and the person doesn't pay, I'm pretty much screwed (I think at least - have never subleased in NYC before).
- Explicitly ask for a lease extension until August.
- Pros:
- Less complicated/cleaner. Less risk on my end of getting bad subletters.
- Maybe I can convince them that they will get a better price in August? NYU Students? I doubt it though as they know the market better than I do
- Cons:
- Landlord may not agree to extension.
- If they do agree, they will probably make me pay the 3500/mo no matter what. They have no incentive to reduce the rent because they know I'll be gone in two months.
- If they don't agree, I'll probably have to renew + break the lease at 3500, as they won't be willing to negotiate down. E.g. there's an order of operations issue.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to do here? I know it's a bit of an awkward situation so I appreciate any advice!

2023.03.22 06:13 Brilliant_Doughnut82 Custom Cash denial from too many recent inquiries; when can I apply again?
Hi, first time posting. For many years, I have chosen the simplicity of putting nearly all of my purchases on the simple 2% cash-back cards Double Cash and Active Cash. Recently, I've decided to be more strategic to get more rewards. The first step I was going to do was to:
- get Amex Blue Cash Preferred to be used for Groceries
- get Citibank Custom Cash to be used for Restaurants / Dining
So I applied for both of the above cards on the same day (2/1). I was approved for the Amex, but Citibank declined my application for CC with the following reason:
- Too many recent credit inquiries are recorded on your credit bureau report
These two applications are the only inquiries I can see in my credit report. I still want to get the Custom Cash card to get me more back from my Restaurant/Dining. But now I'm afraid of applying again too early and being rejected for the same reason. I called Citibank to ask if they could give me any info as to when it would be "safe" to apply again. As I probably should have expected, they wouldn't divulge any of the criteria regarding "Too many recent credit inquiries are recorded on your credit bureau report."
So, I'd appreciate any suggestions on how long I should wait before reapplying for the CC? Or should I just try for an alternate card (e.g. Chase Freedom Unlimited)?
Current cards:
- Citi Double Cash
- Citi Costco Anywhere
- Apple Card
- Chase Amazon Visa
- Chase United Explorer MileagePLUS
- Wells Fargo Active Cash
- Capital One Quicksilver
FICO Score:
803 (Experian) Oldest account age:
22 years Average monthly spend and categories:
- dining: $250
- groceries: $333
- gas: $12
- travel: $833
- other: ~1000 (inc. charity, medical, cell phone)

2023.03.22 05:40 BigGuyNorthSide Any under the radar, really good restaurants near Castlemore?
I’m Punjabi and not looking for Indian food. Every time I see posts regarding the best restaurants, it always seems to be on the west side.
I get it - that’s where most of the good spots are.. but there must be some hidden gems closer to the east side. Please share

2023.03.22 05:19 suruu_o Ex and her new boyfriend came to my workplace
I work at a rather small local restaurant that happens to be close to where both me and my ex live. A while ago I saw her sitting at a table with her new boyfriend. I didn’t see them come in, so it felt awkward when I suddenly walked passed them. It really caught me off guard, since she knows I work there as well as my schedule. I tried maintaining myself but it got to a point where I felt such a rush of anxiety that I had to leave.
For context, we broke up near the end of last year but wanted to maintain connected. As you may have guessed, it didn’t work out and after an argument one day she cut me off for good. It was admittedly my fault, but what really bothered me was the fact that she got with this guy only two weeks later. This had always been one of my biggest fears since the beginning and it hasn’t really been easy these past months.
After talking to some people about it, most agreed that she probably just felt like eating at that particular place and was indifferent to the fact that I work there. It’s a hard pill to swallow if true, but I just don’t know how to deal with it. It scares me knowing that something like that can just happen any day now, out of my control. What should I do?

2023.03.22 04:58 ashabash88 Trip Report - 3/8 to 3/19 - Osaka, Tokyo, Nagano with 8 people and some people with mobility issues
I lurked a bunch in this group before my trip so am hoping that a trip report will help others. We had a larger group and a couple people in the group are mobility challenged so some of my tidbits are unique to those aspects.
Some general notes:
-I got a pocket wifi from Ninja Wifi and it was great. I picked it up from Kansai and dropped off at Narita and it was so easy. I rushed through customs and had it before the others were all through. Others in the group were using their travel plans (T mobile and Verizon) and by the end of the trip most were just connecting to my wifi because it was much faster. It wasn't completely perfect and had a couple glitches here and there, but nothing that restarting the unit didn't fix. I did bring my own power bank and 100% needed it.
-We flew into Kansai and landed around 7pm. The entry at Kansai was a breeze. Everyone had done the Visit Japan ahead of time. We took screenshots but there is airport wifi in the customs area so we could have used that as well. We were through and had our bags within 30 minutes.
-It did take us a couple of days to get the hang of the various train lines, reading google maps, etc. A lot of the train station are huge as well so we learned to allow ALOT more time than google suggested for walking, especially since our group moved on the slower side. I tried to prep everyone to add Suica/Pasmo on their phones but myself and my mom were the only ones who actually did. Two people had physical IC cards from a previous trip but the other 4 kept putting it off and ended up not ever getting an IC card. It was a huge pain to stop and get tickets every time and they regretted it by the end of the trip.
-I had saved everything using Google's MyMap before we left but I ended up not using it very much. I chose it so I could color code locations but it didn't integrate very well into the app. I had to click on the saved maps every time I wanted to see what was around us, and you also can't add anything on the app. This could be user error as this was my first time using the MyMaps instead of a list but I'll probably go back to just creating a list within the app next time.
-We brought little goodies with us to hand out in lieu of tips and everyone loved them. Little things like mac nuts (we are from Hawaii) were received with much exclamation and appreciation.
-We were celebrating 3 different birthdays while we were there so we did reserve those dinners, since we had a larger party. We mostly split up for the rest of the meals. I can't speak to how easily we would have gotten in without reservations as we didn't try.
-Like everyone else, I HIGHLY recommend the luggage transfer services. It was so nice to take the train from city to city with just a backpack. We stayed in hotels in each place and the front desk handled it for us each time. I had a larger suitcase and it was about 2000 yen for each of the transfers (Osaka to Tokyo and Tokyo to Nagano). The only time we took our luggage was on the last train ride back to the airport and that's only because we forgot to ask how far in advance we would need to drop off and I was nervous about getting it in time for the flight. It probably would have been fine though. I also left my computer charger in Osaka and the hotel shipped it to me overnight. You usually pay when you drop off your bags but they let me pay that one upon pickup.
-Day 0 - Arrived in Osaka. We stayed at the Swissotel Nankai Osaka and it is located on top of Namba station. This hotel was recommended to us by a flight attendant who travels to Japan frequently and it was great for convenience being right at the train and metro station. It was a 10 minute walk to the Dotonbori area, which was about the maximum that my aunt could walk with her walker.
- Day 1 - day trip to Nara. I signed us up for a free tour with the YMCA EGG Club and it was fantastic. We did get a wheelchair from the Kintetsu station info office. They have exactly one available and it's first come, first serve but our guide said she has never seen anyone use it before. It was perfect for us as there was a lot of walking that day. A few things were not accessible but we could leave the wheelchair outside and my aunt could use her cane.
We split up after the tour to get lunch. Me and an auntie ended up at Maguro Koya for oo toro and it was the perfect first lunch in Japan. A true mom and pop but they did have an English menu and spoke great English. It was only a few blocks from the Kintetsu station as well. Auntie and I had a few cups of sake as well and after a lingering and delicious lunch we went back to the train station and back to Osaka.
After a nap, we took a couple of cabs to the Dotonbori area since we were running late for dinner. In hindsight, it was silly for all of us to cab since the able bodied could have walked in the same amount of time. We didn't know our way around yet, though, so we all just cabbed. Dinner was at the Kanidoraku crab restaurant on the Dotonbori. It was just OK, probably wouldn't go back as there are so many fantastic places in Osaka. After dinner we went to Donki for a little chaos. Uncle nearly had a panic attack at the crowds and needed to wait outside.
-Day 2 - day trip to Kyoto - Only half of us did this as the other half had been before. We wanted to see as much as possible in the day so we reserved a guided taxi tour with Doi Taxi. It was 40,000 yen for our group of 4 and up to 7 hours but there was no way we were going to get to see much if we had to walk and take busses. I had asked him to take us to one temple and requested few stairs and little walking. He started by driving us to Gion and we did get out and walk around a bit. I had requested lunch at Yudofu Sagano in Arashiyama and if you like tofu you must go there! We walked around the Tenryu-Ji temple and gardens after lunch, which was beautiful. The Arashiyama area was packed with people. I thought Gion would be the crowded area but it had nothing on Arashiyama. After the temple we headed back to the train station to go back to Osaka. We probably didn't get quite the bang for our buck that we could have but we were getting very tired.
-Day 3 - free day. We all did our own thing. Some went to Osaka Castle, some did the Aquarium, and some just wandered.
Day 4 - Osaka to Tokyo. The teenagers were not impressed that we woke them up to get to the train station early to get bentos. They would have preferred to sleep and grab Family Mart but the rest of us wanted to browse and pick out the perfect ekiben. The selection was not as large as I was expecting at Shin-Osaka but we did still get some goodies. The teenagers were not impressed by the Nozomi and slept but the rest of us enjoyed our bentos and scenery. We got some beers and highballs from the snack cart and noted that they only took cash or IC cards, not credit cards.
Our hotel in Tokyo was the Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu. It wasn't quite as nice as the Swissotel but had a prime location right on the Scramble and the rooms were decently sized for Japan. My uncle almost had a panic attack when we got out of the Shibuya Station and he saw all of the people but he got used to it. We booked this hotel pretty far in advance and got a great deal. When I checked closer to the trip (just for giggles) it was a lot more expensive.
Day 5 - Tsukiji Market in the morning for breakfast/lunch/shopping then TeamLab Planets. Nothing new to report about those activities but this day is when we started to have issues finding escalators and elevators in the train station. Several stations in Tokyo were under construction and there were a couple of times we couldn't find any accessible options. Luckily, our mobility challenged people aren't totally immobile and could take the stairs but it was very tiring for them. I did appreciate that most of the subways and trains (and busses) have screens that show the stops and the location of escalators and elevators but they weren't always accurate if there was construction.
I really wanted to go to the Shibuya Yokocho for dinner and everyone in the group liked that idea, even the teens. I didn't think there was any chance we would all be able to eat together but we went early just in case. To my surprise we did find one place that could seat exactly 8 (if we crammed, which we did) and it was wonderful. I have no idea what it is called since most of the signs outside are in Japanese but the ownechef/bartender is named Hiro. We had some of my favorite bites of the whole trip there including a uni miso omelet and blue cheese baked mochi. The "menu" was just slips of paper on the wall, all in Japanese, but it was fun to try and use Google Translate and pick random things based on the translation. The mochi, for example, translated as "blue rice". A few of the adults bar hopped after dinner and we had a great time at each place, but Hiro's was my favorite.
Day 6 + 7 - Random Tokyo wandering and nothing interesting or crazy to report. Uncle went to Golden Gai by himself and reported that he liked the Shibuya Yokocho better. He thought Golden Gai seemed like a larger, more touristy version.
We did go to Tokyo Skytree one of these days and for the love, make a reservation if you want to go there. They do let you buy tickets same day but the line was horrendous and we were regretting our lack of planning as we watched the people with reservations walk right up.
Day 8 - Tokyo to Nagano - Our group split at this point. Half started in Shibu Onsen for some relaxation and half went to Lotte Arai resort for some skiing. I was part of the Shibu group so I'll report mainly on that. We chose Shibu because it was close to the snow monkey park and for the onsen experience. Shibu has 9 "public" onsen that only locals and people staying in a ryokan in Shibu get a key for. Getting there was very easy. The shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano took 1.5 hours and then the Dentetsu line to Yudanaka was about an hour. Our hotel picked us up at the train station.
Shibu was one of the highlights of the trip and it was especially relaxing after Tokyo. We stayed at the Shibu Hotel, which is a ryokan and family run for over 100 years. It was a bit of a splurge but we chose to include the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The service was incredible. There are two brothers that are basically shuttling people around all day, to and from the train station and to and from the snow monkey park, and running the hotel. One of the wives and the mother run the front desk. The ryokan also has several public and private onsen for guests. It seemed like a lot of the ryokan in town were similar but as I've only stayed at Shibu Hotel I can only speak for them. Also important to note, they have a few rooms with Western style beds and an elevator, which is the main reason we stayed there. Most of the ryokan only offer Japanese style rooms, which I would have been fine with by myself but did not work for the group.
Shibu was very accessible, which I was not expecting. The town is tiny and the whole thing can be walked easily. Some of the little alleys weren't walker friendly but the main streets were tiled (I think), very smooth and wide enough for the walker. Not all of the onsen were accessible but most had a little step/s or railing so we could all participate. It was some family bonding for sure LOL
Day 9 - Snow Monkeys! We took the hotel shuttle to the park entrance and they even had snow boots for us, as the trail gets icy or muddy depending on the season. It was cold but not icy for us but we still appreciated the boots as it was a bit muddy in spots. It took us about 20 minutes to walk each way but I can see it taking much longer if there's snow or ice. There were so many monkeys and they were very unconcerned with people. No shit throwing or bag stealing was seen, unlike my previous monkey experience in Thailand. You could do this as a day trip from Nagano or even Tokyo very easily. This was not accessible as there are stairs at the beginning and end of the trip and auntie didn't want to try and walk a mile so she stayed at the hotel and enjoyed coffee in the lobby and browsing some of their homemade goodies (green onion miso, yum!).
We then took the local train back to Nagano and checked in to the Metropolitan Hotel, again right at the train station (have you sensed our preference yet). Lunch was at Misoya for my favorite ramen of the trip. I love me some miso. We saw the main temple in Nagano and visited the sake brewery close by.
Day 10 - Last full day and it was raining and cold. We didn't do a whole lot this day because of the rain but did some last minute shopping. At the Tokyu department store we found the best basement grocery with a bunch of food stalls so we grabbed a bunch of different foods and a bottle of local sake for lunch in the room.
Day 11 - Lunch at Misoya again before catching the Shinkansen back to Tokyo Station and then the Narita Express to the airport. We were pretty disappointed in the food and shopping options at Terminal 2, unfortunately. We left Nagano after lunch at 1:30 so had allowed extra time at the airport for dinner and some duty free shopping but nothing was open by the time we got through security at 6pm. We should have had dinner outside of security but we didn't realize nothing would be open. There was one little conbini that has some tuna musubi and egg salad sandwiches so that was dinner. We were more sad that the duty free was closed as we had been planning on buying some of our whisky and sake allotment there. We didn't come home empty handed but just less than we had planned.
Whew, that took awhile to write. I hope someone, somewhere finds any part of this helpful!

2023.03.22 04:57 gnome-de-pluume 43[m4f] #nyc Boston’s longtime Best-of-Breast & Nipple play to in NYC Wed. nite. Want some orgasmic breast play, no reciprocation?
Hi there. The title says it all. I have enjoyed pleasuring dozens of women solely focused on their breasts over the years. Yes, pants on (almost always).
I guess you could say I am a breast-a-holic and have been for years. I get immense pleasure enjoying you as you enjoy me. 😘
I am an equal-opportunity breast aficionado. I love large breasts and small, porcelain breasts, and cocoa breasts. I have enjoyed suckling small pink jujube nipples, as well as puffy dark pie plate areolas. Mmmmm. I love the variety, from a AA flat-chested Harvard Law student to a rich dark chocolate G-cup West African business woman with glowing soft breasts she playfully slapped my face with her breasts as I bobbed for boobies.
Can you tell that I really enjoy this? I mean, really enjoy this?
About me, who is this joker? I am a 43 year old white male. Longtime divorced. I’m southern European. Think Portugal/Spain. I speak four languages and I am working on my fifth :-) I work in communications and as you can tell, I enjoy writing and playful, verbal banter.
I will be in New York Wednesday night downtown near Wall Street, and WTC. I would love to host you at my funky chic hotel, or someplace mutually agreeable. My focus is on a safe, playful and lighthearted experience. Without exaggeration, I have been doing this for many years and absolutely love it. This is my kink. :)
I hope you enjoyed my post and if you are interested in meeting, send me a hello. I am hoping to meet at least 1 to 2 women tomorrow night, separately or together, is up to you.
I love traveling to new places and meeting new play friends. I have enjoyed doing this in Orlando, Las Vegas, Chicago, Palm Springs, and Maui. NYC? Yes please!
My goal is to have things set up before the evening. I have early drinks and dinner with my boss and would love to be thinking about suckling you the whole time.
And, if you simply just enjoyed my post and maybe got a little bit damp reading it, please let me know, I always love getting feedback. :-)
If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. Happy to chat about it.
I’m vaccinated and boosted. Duh. You be too.

2023.03.22 04:28 LordCoale The Mercy of Humans: Part 17 - A Calculated Risk
First-
Previous The air ambulance hovered just thirty meters above the raging waters of the river running well above flood stage. My wife, Nalini, piloted the craft with such expert skill that we barely moved, even in the near hurricane level winds. I hooked my safety harness into the airship’s safety line, just above the penetrator basket, while Tajamal leaned out the open hatch, scanning for people to rescue.
“Jabir,” Taj called, “I have three in view. In the trees to our seven.”
The blowing rain made it hard to see, but Taj had the benefit of enhanced vision with his SAR helmet optics. I pulled my visor plate down and sealed it as I looked out the hatch. The optics turned on automatically and I tapped the controls to trigger lowlight and infrared modes. Dalutian’s body temperature is a bit lower than human at 35° but, against the cold river, they stood out like bonfires.
“I see them. Nali, slide us back about twenty meters and I will drop.”
She'd heard Taj’s call and was already sliding back while rotating slightly to the left, placing me in a prime position to drop down into the trees. I remember reading about early search and rescue operations on Terra before the discovery of antigravity technology. They used helicopters, an inelegant, ancient machine that beat the air into submission. The machines were deadly when they malfunctioned, even at low altitudes. Such disasters were rare these days, but no unheard of.
“The wind is picking up,” Nalini called out. “From the north-northeast. Reads twenty-five sustained, gusting to fifty-five.”
“Thanks. I think we can handle it. Maintain at ten meters and keep her steady as you can,” I ordered.
My entire SAR crew was family. My wife is our pilot, her sister Marwa an emergency and trauma nurse. Their brother Zafar and my cousin Tajamal were both SAR pararescue. What was odd about my team is we are all ethnic Arabs that lived among the blond Vikings of Nya Österlen. We had not had the genetic mods to live there which made it a bit of a struggle at times. But we wanted to learn from the best before we moved back home to New Berlin. I will not lie though, the lower gravity here was a relief.
I jumped out of the hatch, swinging from the winch line as Zafar lowered me into the trees. I could see the faces of three Dalutians looking up at us. I could not tell if it was fear, awe, or confusion on their faces. The penetrator pushed through the uppermost branches. I used my feet to push it where I wanted it, edging closer to the natives clinging to the branches.
The wind made it impossible for me to talk to them. The two adults looked absolutely exhausted. I guessed they had been in this tree for quite a while, fighting the wind and rain. They look up at me, eyes wide in shock. I guess I would be too if some strange alien dropped out of the sky to rescue me. I unfolded the penetrator into its basket mode and locked it in place. I motioned to the woman with her child. I pointed at the basket, and she shook her head.
It seems that is the universal ‘no.’ I pointed to her and her child and pointed to the basket again, showing her the harnesses to secure them. The male yelled something I could not understand, and she hugged her child tight and scooted to the basket. I grabbed her around the waist and held them securely as they got into the basket. I quickly strapped their harnesses together and motioned to the last one. I figured he was the father. As he moved around the trunk to where the basket was, he slipped and fell hard. He bounced his head on a thick limb and went limp.
I wasted no time in thought and jumped after him. If he hit the water unconscious, he would die. I could not catch him. He was just out of reach when I hit the end of my tether and hit the quick disconnect.
“What are you doing?” My wife was angry at my choice.
It was, arguably, a bad idea. While by no means as good as a military survival suit, our SAR suits had self-contained rebreathers that allowed us to breathe in toxic or underwater environments. They were tough as hell. The armor was not the ablative, laser resistant military armor but could handle anything I would encounter here. He splashed into the water and sank. I could see his heat signature as the roaring waters ripped him away.
I hit the water. I could feel the cold water momentarily, until my suit’s environmental systems kicked on the heaters. I could see his body with my heat sensors. I triggered the sonar, and the computer painted the inside of my visor with the information. The floodwaters held many dangers, mostly from floating or submerged wood. Often these hazards were entire trees ripped from the ground upriver. I could still get crushed if I made a mistake.
“Jabir?” My wife was really angry.
“I am fine. Take the ship a klick downstream,” I ordered. “Zafar drop the net when I get close.”
“Roger,” Zafar answered. “I have you on the scope.”
All the SAR suits are tied into the airship’s datanet. With the locator beacons and health monitors, the flight crew could track me easily. I was not worried about them tracking me. Retrieving me was another thing entirely. But that was a worry for later. I still had to reach my target. I am an excellent swimmer. Anyone who wants to work in search and rescue is required to be better than average.
I kicked off strongly, pushing hard to catch up. It was easy to do since he was just bouncing along like a rag doll. If I cannot get to him soon, he will drown. I caught up and reached out, grabbing a handful of feathers. I felt some pull loose but enough held that I was able to pull him into a tight hold. He was a lump of dead weight as I pushed to the surface.
I could see the airship hovering over the river. Nalini held it in the perfect position. She held the airship at five meters, with the starboard hatch open and net barely in the water. Zafar and Taj knelt inside the hatch, looking at me as I bobbed down the river. I was at the mercy of the floodwaters. Holding onto the Dalutian meant I had little ability to swim. I kicked as hard as I could to position the best I could for the net to catch us. I hit sideways, my left arm snaking into the net while hooking my legs giving me three points of contact.
“Lift the net,” I yelled. “Lift the net!”
Zafar hit the lift and Nalini pulled up, lifting us out of the water. The net retracted into the roof and deposited us in a wet heap in the deck. Taj closed the hatch as I popped my visor and removed my helmet. Zafar pulled the male out of the net and worked to get the water out of his lungs. Only then I heard the mother and child crying in fear. I could not tell what they were saying, but I could see their concern.
Marwa took over, placing an oxygen mask over his beak. “Get us to a hospital,” she said. “He has a head injury and water inhalation. He’s breathing but it’s shallow. Damn, I wish I knew their physiology better.”
Zafar waved his sensor wand over the male’s little body. I knew they were smaller than us, but I did not realize just how much smaller they were.
“Blood pressure is low,” Zafar said. “At least that’s what the computer says. And body temp is low. Let’s get him on the stretcher and into a thermal blanket.”
I helped move the body onto a stretcher mounted on the bulkhead. All the stretchers were equipped with body heaters and the thermal blankets were little more than high tech electric blankets with the added ability to wick away water. This would help stabilize him, but he needed a full hospital.
The other two were chattering at me but I still had no idea what they were saying. “Do we have the translator package downloaded?”
“You don’t have it?” Zafar asked.
“No. I did not see it in the download files.”
“I pushed it automatically to your suit,” he replied. “Check for a file labelled Dal1.5. It should have installed by itself.”
“Well, it didn’t.” I pulled up the files on my suit’s computer. “Found it. Installing it now.”
With the file installed, I could finally understand what they were saying, for all the good it did me. I could tell they were family. The child was hysterical and the mother struggling to calm her. We got the father strapped in and secure. Through the deck, I could feel the engines vibrating as Nali pushing the airship to its maximum speed. Marwa had the father well in hand, so I turned to his family.
“We will be at a hospital within a few minutes.” I heard my speaker translate my words into their sing song language. It sounded like one of the tonal languages from earth mixed with a parrot’s call. “We have doctors who can help him. Do you understand?”
They both started talking and the mother shushed the child. Or at least, the translation software made the sounds. Often there is something lost in the translation.
“Who are you?” The mother asked.
“I am Jabir Tamraz.”
“No, who are all of you? I have not seen any of your species before.”
“Oh. We are humans.”
“Humans?” She recoiled a bit but then seemed to shake as she digested the news. We knew coming in to this mission that there would be some fear or anxiety. Most of the Confederation species had no real meaningful interactions with humanity. And even though some of the Dalutains had traded with us before, they were the minority.
“Yes, we are humans,” Marwa replied. “There are thousands of us out looking for survivors and doing what we can to rescue them. Just as we did for you.”
“But… Why?” The daughter spoke softly, but the translator spoke at full volume.
“Because… Because we felt it was the right thing to do,” I replied. “Many of our people have needed help. Sometimes desperately needed help. Most of the time, that help came. But not always. But our people have never needed help as badly as yours do. I am sorry we were not able to get here sooner.”
“Our government asked the Confederation for help. But it never came.” Again, the translator could not put her bitterness into the translation we heard. But I could tell by her body language that she was angry and defeated.
“I cannot speak to that. But I can tell you that we are here and not going away.”
“Prepare to land. We will be at the hospital in less than a minute,” Nali called over the intercom.
The ship settled onto the ground with barely a bump. My wife is the best pilot around. The back ramp lowered and several people ran aboard, two picked up the father and carried the stretcher off the ship. Two others checked on our other to passengers and quickly led them off and into the hospital.
I was happy that we had managed to save them, but we had more to do.
Nali grabbed my arm roughly and pulled me around to face her. “What the hell was that?”
“I almost lost him.”
“You broke protocol. We never disconnect the tether in a situation like that! What the hell were you thinking?”
“I was thinking that I could not let him die. Not in front of his family.”
“And what of me? I could have seen
you die!” She had tears in her eyes, but they were tears of anger. “You are not immortal. You have a wife and daughter, too.”
“I know. It was a calculated risk,” I replied. “Our SAR suits can take a log of damage before we get hurt, and I had three hours of oxygen. He did not. If I had not gone in after him, he would have died. I was his only hope of surviving. We did not choose this profession because it was safe. We chose it because we felt a calling to save lives.”
“Don’t you die on me.” She grabbed me in a tight hug. “Don’t you dare. I cannot live without you.”
“Don’t say that. You are the strongest person I know. You were strong as steel before I met you. That was why I fell in love with you. And if anything, you are stronger now. You push me to be stronger. If anyone in this universe can survive, it is you.”
“Just… Don’t do that again without warning me. Okay? Promise me.”
“I promise. I will not do something stupid without warning you first.”

2023.03.22 04:08 washabePlus [Complete] D100 Fantasy Moons
(
Original Post)
Inspired by
this worldbuilding post, let's make some fucked up moons. This obviously isn't the sort of list that would have a lot of reusability (unless you're in a campaign with a lot of traveling between planets or mortal planes), but it's something that was on my mind long ago and I figured now's as good a time as any. Many of these could be the basis of an entire setting, and I really really wanna do it :(
Also, as you read these, consider how the moon appears in Earth's symbols and designs. A world with funky moons will have them show up differently in heraldry, flags, etc. than in our world. Not to mention the religious significance many of these would have.
1 - The moon has a massive bite out of it.
2 - The moon is heavily damaged, with debris floating all around. Some legends say it was a giant egg that hatched the sun god (of the first dragon, or the tarasque, or the creator god). Other legends say it was destroyed in a war or by a god.
3 - The moon emits very bright light, while the sun projects darkness.
4 - The moon projects darkness.
5 - Many many lights are visible on the moon, as if it is covered in cities.
6 - The moon has a thick atmosphere of some color, with swirling clouds that are looked to by some cultures for omens.
7 - The moon is a planet; the world we live on is its moon.
8 - The moon is extremely close to the ground. Its gravity creates colossal waves, leaving most coastal regions too difficult to inhabit. Airships have managed to reach the moon at midnight, and it is explored instead of the sea.
9 - The moon is quite close to the planet and has a giant space elevator dangling off and into our atmosphere. People have reached it from the highest mountains.
10 - The moon is said to be an egg.
11 - The moon has a kind face.
12 - The moon has a terrifying face.
13 - Just as the sun blinds those who look at it too long, the moon drives them mad.
14 - The moon was completely destroyed long ago and now forms a ring. Meteorites from it have fallen ever since.
15 - There are a large number of moons arranged in a circle.
16 - The moon blinks as if it were an eye, causing brief moments of total darkness throughout the night like a reverse lightning strike.
17 - The moon is a world like ours, with oceans and continents full of life. The life there may be fundamentally different or very similar.
18 - The moon is the homeworld of some race on our world, but it met a catastrophe long ago, leading to them becoming refugees.
19 - The moon is a ringworld.
20 - The moon is a second sun that was extinguished long ago. The world was once much hotter and covered in desert and jungle. They say that one day the other sun will be extinguished too, beginning the final era of existence.
21 - The moon has an additional phase beyond full, new, crescent, gibbous, and half. When the moon is
awoken, the dead rise for the night(s)
22 - When the moon falls, it lands in the ocean a very long distance away, then emerges from the ocean on the opposite side of the world. Many explorers have sought to find the land known as Moonrise to harvest the treasures that are said to be found on the moon before it reaches Moonfall.
23 - The moon has a hole through the center of it, with an exposed burning orange core.
24 - The moon is permanently eclipsing a second sun, which is associated with destruction and evil.
25 - The moon is a gigantic, shriveled creature curled up in a fetal position.
26 - The moon is a gigantic skull.
27 - The moons hates us. With every beam of light that bounces off its regolith it sends us nothing but malice. Its gravity well directs meteorites towards us more than should be expected.
28 - There are dozens upon dozens of small moons.
29 - There are a few moons connected together by some superstructure.
30 - The moon was deconstructed into thousands of huge glowing space habitats in orbit around the planet.
31 - The moon projects a massive aura.
32 - The moon is creeping towards us, ever do slowly.
33 - The moon's motion is controlled by a powerful individual or organization in our world.
34 - The moon is a superweapon aimed directly at us.
35 - The moon is shaped like
Arrokoth or another contact binary.
36 - The moon is one of the others on this list, but is connected to our world by an ancient portal network. The moon is probably one of the options that are colonized or have life, but if not, it could be that activating this network to drain away the world's oxygen is a goal of some villain, and ancient dungeons could have been built to protect the moongates in their depths.
37 - The moon is a giant spaceborne creature that is entirely alive and active, unlike #35. It blinks at us and feasts on void-krill/dreams/souls/sin.
38 - The moon used to be a colossal tree on our world, a tree of life so big that it became uprooted and drifted into orbit. If it isn't fossilized, then when the moontree peaks out from over the horizon during the day its leaves get scorched, and when out only at night it is frozen.
39 - The moon is a palace where a god or the greatest god-emperor to ever live dwells.
40 - The moon is made out of trillions of bones.
41 - The moon is entirely colonized and utilized by modrons. The whole surface is visibly divided into a perfectly ordered grid, and each square serves a different purpose. Some are being deconstructed to build constructs in Mechanus.
42 - The moon shoots out lightning during "moonstorms".
43 - The moon is a different geometrical shape. A cube, a pyramid, a dodecahedron, etc. Possibly several moons, one for each shape of die used in D&D.
44 - A legendary figure carved a grand symbol into the moon. Or a smiley face, one of those.
45 - The moon is branded with a magical sigil, causing it to cast a zone of truth over everything touched by the moonlight.
46 - The moon is branded with a magical sigil, causing it to turn everything touched by the moonlight into a wild magic zone.
47 - The moon is branded with a magical sigil, putting everything in the moonlight inside an antimagic field.
48 - The moon is a colossal coin. Rather than full or new moon, the phases are heads or tails, and it's random every night.
49 - The moon is a vampire. Blood slowly flows upwards to it at night time, causing beacons of glistening red at night in places where things have been killed during the day. Battlefields become crimson waterfalls at night. Some blood stays in the air as sanguine clouds - they say those spirits haven't moved on to the afterlife, and during the blood-rain they haunt the world.
50 - The moon pulsates in many different colors, the patterns being used by diviners to tell the future.
51 - The moon makes the night nearly as bright as day, but less hot.
52 - The moon flashes like a strobe light, making seeing at night even harder.
53 - The moon is a magical illusion, and because this is common knowledge it appears transparent.
54 - The moon shoots concentrated beans of moonlight down at any humanoids it sees outside during night-time. Most likely live underground, in massive structures, or under forest canopies.
55 - The moon speaks to everyone at night through telepathy. It is nearly all-knowing because of this, but great at keeping secrets. This may be how the Common language spread.
56 - The moon is the slumbering form of
Atropus, the World Born Dead. (next bunch is from
u/quantumturnip)
57 - The moon is a dead
eldritch abomination that periodically hijacks people for unknown long-term goals.
58 - The moon houses a portal to another dimension, used as a methods of escape by the gods during some long-forgotten war.
59 - Long ago, a wizard got tired of worldly politics and left for the moon. He is now a lich and has his own magical research facility on the moon, populated by sentient undead.
60 - Multiple rival countries have established their own bases on the moon. None of them are aware that their rivals also have moonbases. Or maybe they are, it's your setting - go wild.
61 - Literally just a
giant ball of cheese in space. (also,
u/World-of-Ideas thought of this too, but I'm keeping it as just the one entry)
62 - The moon has its' own moons orbiting it
63 - The moon is chained to the surface of the planet
64 - The moon changes color each month, and a year is measured by the color cycle.
65 - There is a
giant fingerprint on the moon.
66 - That’s no moon. It’s a space station. (
u/infinitum3d)
67 - The moon is the eye (artificial, real) of some giant planet sized being, that lost its eye. (
u/World-of-Ideas for the next bunch)
68 - The moon is a giant space station built by some ancient race.
69 - The moon is actually a giant colony ship. It delivered the original colonist to this world so long ago, that no one remembers.
70 - The moon is the shed carapace of some giant space creature.
71 - The moon is a planetary shield generator. It is meant to keep something imprisoned on the planet.
72 - The moon is a planetary shield generator. It is meant to (block the frequent meteor storms, keep outsider out, reduce solar radiation because the planet is too close to the sun).
73 - The moon is a hole in this reality. If one travels through it they would end up in a solar system in another dimension.
74 - The moon is an illusion. For some reason only the natives of this world can see the moon and the light that is reflects. Travelers from other worlds can't see it.
75 - The moon can only be seen by those who will die tonight. (
u/mil_a1)
76 - The moon disappears for months at a time. (
u/mil_a1)
77 - The moon is hollow and strange things live on the inside. (
u/mil_a1)
78 - The moon is suspended above the world by chains that affix to the sky. Many of the chains are rusted through, and broken chains hang down from the moon. The longest of these broken chains drag thick gashes into the planet below. (
u/Paydirt49)
79 - The equator of the moon is inscribed with a sentence though only half can be seen from the ground. (
u/CommonlyQuixotic)
80 - The moon is a prison, housing a dangerous entity. (
u/Daloowee)
81 - The moon is actually a highly sophisticated satellite designed to monitor the biggest threats contained on the planet. Manned by 2 chill guys Mike and Dave and their gazer pet, Goober. They are able to project themselves down to the planet and project the gazer as a beholder. (
u/DrBeefsome)
82 - One of the most powerful spellcasters to ever live cast a spell that put a permanent sigil on the moon. If you copy the sigil onto a piece of paper and then step onto it, your viewpoint changes to be from the moon. (
u/AlephBaker)
83 - The moon is replaced with a rift in time and space. (
u/UmbramonOrSomething)
84 - The moon is rigged with explosives in case a threat erupts on the planet. (
u/UmbramonOrSomething)
85 - The moon is made of thousands of different types of crystals smashed together into a ball. (
u/UmbramonOrSomething)
86 - The moon is a giant, floating, white pig. (
u/UmbramonOrSomething)
87 - The moon is actually an interstellar beast (think space whales) (
u/UmbramonOrSomething)
88 - The moon is an eyeball and its different phases are just how much its eyelid has blinked. (
u/Aspiring-Mutant) + The eye-moon tells you if your enemies are aware of your presence/how aware they are. The greatest thieves and assassins and that one kid who hid so well in Hide-And-Seek you had to file a police report are said to be able to black out the moon entirely just by crouching… (
u/BuddyWhoOnceToldYou)
89 - The moon is anti-predictable. If you try and predict where or when it appears that is the one time/place it cannot be. (
u/Metal-Teacher)
90 - The moon's phases control the moral compass of the planet's residents. (
u/Metal-Teacher)
91 - The moon is in a highly eccentric orbit, causing massively different tides and gravitational effects. (
u/Metal-Teacher)
92 - The moon, when it appears at noon and reflects light into a room, can cause a boon to goons. The boon is a familiar cat in a hat. (
u/Metal-Teacher)
93 - The moons are in chaotic orbits, one day they might crash into one another. (
u/Metal-Teacher)
94 - The moon is always opposite the sun, like it's hiding from it. For this reason, it is always red. (
u/MitigatedRisk)
95 - The moon changes in size rather than waxing and waning (
u/MitigatedRisk)
96 - If you look at the moon through a telescope, you're actually seeing the world at some point in the future (
u/MitigatedRisk)
97 - The moon used to be a planet before someone sent it rocketing around the solar system. Warforged, Constructs, and similar beings still wander its long dead surface. (
u/Kingsdaughter613)
98 - The moon is known as Vagabond (vague-a-bond). The moon is a mirror ball of astronomical size that makes the material plane accessible to all other planes of existence simultaneously. Thinning the metamorphic veil, meaning that you can take a walk into another plane of existence by accident (
u/Emotional_Guillotine)
99 - The 72 Demon Sigils as moons (together known as Hell's Courtroom) (
u/Emotional_Guillotine)

2023.03.22 03:46 CommunicationRough87 Safety/crime - Lower Nob Hill (Bush and Polk St. intersection) for a gay POC new to SF
Hi there,
I am new to SF and recently saw an apartment on Bush St. (close to Polk but not on Polk) that I really liked. It pretty much checks most of my boxes - easy commute to FiDi, good layout/space for a studio, access controlled building with a package concierge, laundry onsite, dishwasher, tons of closet space, close to good restaurants and grocery stuff, feels quite lively/gives me city vibes, etc.
I know it's a few blocks north of from where the Tenderloin starts, so I was wondering how the area is in terms of crime/safety? For context, I moved here from NYC so the homelessness/grim nature is not a shocker for me (although they do seem a bit more aggressive here).
I have looked at places near the Castro, DBT, Mission and Noe Valley but didn't really like them/have to share with housemates, and would ideally want to balance being in a nice home and being close to social stuff. I know Nob Hill/Lower Nob Bill is a bit far from these places but I find SF to be kind of small and most places are a pretty easy commute with public transportation/bike.
Thanks in advance!

2023.03.22 03:34 SomeBiologyMajor AITA for causing my dad to skip work and possibly loose his job.
Long backstory: I'm [F]15 and I live in an apartment with my mom[42] and recently my dad[39]. My parents split[after moving to st.paul] when I was young and because of my mom and her issues I didn't have a relationship with my father other than spending the night with him, my uncle and his wife and my cousin every few months. Otherwise he was a ghost. When we moved back to my hometown where my family lives when I was 6 or so, my dad and I started to reconnect as much as we could. He was always nonchalant and quiet but very hardworking and usually reliable. I lived with him for a few years when I was 10 to 12 while my mom was really deep in her addiction until she got clean, and things happened and I had to stay with her. During those 2 years dad had a crazy native girlfriend [30 something] and later a crazy stupid girlfriend at the time who was 22. She was completely insufficient in any useful life skills and had previously been in 2 relationships (In the first one she was abusive as she told me and in the second one she was abused). When my father got with her she was about to lose her town boys from her second relationship for doing weed and coke during her pregnancy and since her ex had a felony and domestic charges they were going to be put into foster care. In the end she lost them both because she failed to make a genuine effort to either get clean or keep them, god forbid both at the same time. And convinced dad to get a dog I explicitly told him I did not want and was not going to help take care of. While after all that,,, dad with the scarps scraped together a semi successful restaurant.
Fast forward 7 months she's crashed all 3 of my dad's cars thanks to the weather up here near the border, and got dad sent to prison[She left an unlicensed played white car full of drugs in front of his business and he took the fall because the police said it was in his. Something I was not made aware of until 2 months after my father had disappeared from prison which I did not know about either. But I'll get to that] for what was supposed to be 4 years for an almost federal level drug charge after getting pregnant with him. I was while he was in the process of being detained, told J was going to have a sleepover at my mom's with no further details. And was later told everything[she knew] a week before his trial by my mom. During this time my dad's girlfriend decided to go on a week long trip to Las Vegas and leave the dog she insisted on getting alone in his kennel and texted me to 'take him out', mind you I did not live in the same building as her. I ended up just taking him with me much to my father's dismay because she harassed him non stop about not having the dog anymore. She later brought to Cane corso puppies while dad was in prison with his money, and got kicked out because they didn't have papers for them and it was originally a no pets building. Thankfully for her though she got into the Jeremiah program and had a place to live after, and dad did not get his security deposit back because she let his new puppies pee and poop everywhere, especially my old room which still has most of my stuff because I only packed to have a sleepover at my mom's months prior.
After all that, my dad got out 3 years early on good behavior because they were getting full of actually bad criminals and couldn't hold everyone, and let the small fries free.
So his child with her was born right after he got out, and she got her rights terminated because she was on drugs this entire pregnancy too, and dad has fought tooth and nail to get the rights to have her the past three months she's been alive. My mom thankfully let them both stay here while everything was sorted out legally,, plus it was the only place dad could get her approved to stay at. And she even let his somehow still girlfriend stay there for a bit too even though that is completely illegal because she is supposed to have no contact. After she did drugs in mom's sober apartment and I told mom how much I hate her she refused to let her over anymore, and I have also been taking care of the baby until my mom gets off work after I get home from school everyday while trying to keep my grades up and continue participating in my activities.
Another detail I remembered, One day before dad went to prison she and I got into a fight after most of the bad stuff before he went to prison, and he decided to talk to me instead of her because I was her by talking about the boys she lost to the system. After he hit me multiple times AND I hit her back once, he was present in the room and watched the entire thing. I mean I get I'm not the feminine daughter you wanted but seriously dad?
Anyways I'm working on my grades taking care of my dad's kid for a few hours every day.
On to the AITH part:
Today my mom had a dentist appointment, and my dad had to leave for work at the usual time when I got home from school. I actually skipped school for an unrelated reason but when I got home had to take care of a baby, dad told be mom had an appointment and she wouldn't be back at all today[recently mom's been hanging out with this guy she likes everyday and hour before dad gets home leaving me with the baby an hour after I would prefer to go to sleep for school and an hour longer than before.] That after her appointment she's going to a NA meeting and then going to her friends, and that mom said it was okay for my dad's ex to come over and help me watch the baby while dad was at work.
Now I have often handed her off as soon as I could, and I Am Not The BEST at taking care of her. But mom and dad know how much I hate that woman who is somehow almost ten years older than me with the maturity of a 7th grader.
So I told my father no. Dad said mom said it was okay, and I calmly said I don't care I will not let her in. I can take care of her by myself. Dad proceeded to say "Then I'll stay to let her in." So he went outside.
I assumed he went to work cause he would be late if he didn't leave then and there but just in case I did the chain lock. And who would've guessed 20 minutes later he comes back, unlocks the door and trusts to open it with his girlfriend standing beside him. He knocks when I don't open it and asks me to let them in and she is going to help me while dad is gone. I hesitantly set the baby down in her bassinet and went and unlocked the door and told dad, she is not coming inside here.
Me and dad are for a few minutes, and dad says he won't let me have her here alone" like that's been an issue until now. and I brag that "she hasn't cried since you left 20 something minutes ago and was fine till you made me set her down." He responds "you know earlier this week cos came by because the neighbors complained she was crying all night." I did not know that, and she was a fussy baby either way even when all her needs were met she would cry just cause she could. Especially so when she was with me. But all last week she was terrible for everyone including him and mom. And the fact he had the audacity to say that to me. I rudely told him no, and he said "If you won't let her in then I'll just stay home." Which is a big deal for him because he had to cut his hours when he got temporary custody of her and has been late a lot. But I was angry and would rather drop out of highschool and work to pay dads rent then be in a room with her so I said "do it." All the while her girlfriend stood there dumbfounded saying "I thought I was going to see my baby." Even though she has historically done a worse job than me, and it is straight up completely lose all custody illegal to have her with the baby outside of scheduled visits once of which she had this morning while my as home.
He did it, and right after he said "If you're going to act like an adult I'm going to treat you like an adult." Told me to get out of his face, aka 4 feet away from him in the shared living room and indirectly threatened to hit me if I didn't leave because I'm an “adult” now.
Dad has chosen to ignore my existence, and indirectly disowned me, and refused to let me help him even though his hands are full.
I've been talking to my mom as much as I could be she has only responded to a handful of my messages
It's 6 hours later close too when dad would get off work. And he called his girlfriend to get him food even though I had a pizza[I had to beg my mom to order me because dad was ignoring me and I doubt he would've got me food]and asked if he wanted any to which he ignored me again.
I'm sitting in my room and I've been crying on and off and I really don't know what to do.shoudk I apologize? Would he even listen?
Am I really the AH for making my dad not go to work cause he didn't trust me enough to leave me with his kid.
Sorry for grammatical weeks or confusion. I wrote this entire thing in a Fit of rage and depression because I'm starting to feel like I'm the one in the wrong.

2023.03.22 02:58 Stenv2 Twofer! A Watts What If, followed by a bit of a ramble.
Ramble will be at the very end. That way it doesn't get in the way of the satire XD. What If for some reason, Watts never left Atlas, and joined up with Salem for whatever reason? (Also plot Twist something similiar like this will happen in the IronDaddy AU, but we will get there when we get there. This is Satire though, because I will try and make some funny jokes XD)
Watts: How dare you pick Pietro over me?!
Ironwood: Okay... but... hmm...
Thinks about it. Why are you upset again?
Watts: Because Pietro isn't better than me! He's an incompetent fool!
Ironwood: Okay... How about we put that to the test?
Watts:
Hushes... his ego intrigued. Ironwood: So you want to prove you're a master genius yeah?
Watts: I AM!
Ironwood: So.. you remember Mt Glenn yeah?
Watts: That failed project?
He scoffs Ironwood: It's been no secret that for some time, Atlas has been the cutting edge of technology in all of Remnant. We have the best weapons, the best soldiers. But... We alone can't do everything.
So what I propose Arthur. Is that you bring Vale up to Atlas' level.
Watts:..
He smirks and laughs Oh the council will just love that I'm sure.
He crosses his arms knowing they clearly won't. Ironwood: So...
He turns around, hiding his smirk the best he can. You're saying you can't do it... without them noticing?
Watts bolts upright from his chair. Watts: THOSE MORONS COULDN'T FIND THEIR OWN TOILET WITHOUT THEIR SCROLLS! I CAN DO IT!
Ironwood: Good then I will let you take the resources and team you need. If you run into any troubles, you can call Professor Ozpin, and tell him that you're doing something for me.
Also I've given you a great cover story as well.
Watts: Wot?
Ironwood: You will be a part time teacher at Signal Combat School. Wouldn't want this too easy now would we?
Volume One
Roman: NANI?!
Gets a laser to the face, as Ruby hums a tune with her very futuristic looking Crescent Rose. Ruby: Yey.
Cinder tries to shoot a fireball, but Ruby activates the built in forcefield, just in time for Glynda to arrive, and Cinder sweats. Then the turrets of the ship turn on her, and electrocute her, knocking her out. Watts: AND ONCE AGAIN, TECHNOLOGY HAS PREVAILED!
Ruby: THANKS UNCLE WATTS!
Watts: Not your uncle! But... Your welcome...
---
Neo: ...
Emerald: Fuck where are they? It's been impossible to steal any dust already.
Mercury: Probably got caught.
---
Later during the stray arc, it looks like Roman and Cinder escaped but they were robot duplicates, that followed them to the white fang hideout, and well Watts' robot army siezed everyone. ---
Salem: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Hazel: Well... we still have a huge number of Grimm...
TV turns on. Watts: My name is Arthur Watts, and people of Remnant, thanks to your efforts and mine. Mostly Mine, I have revolutionized technology, presenting my watt drones, sleeker, mobile, with advanced weaponry and utility they can be everywhere, but most importantly I present....
THE SHERLOCK CARRIER!!!!
Salem's jaw drops at the sheer size of the massive battleship, that's as big as all of Atlas combined. WITH THIS, A NEW ERA BEGINS, AND YES PEOPLE OF REMNANT, SOON YOU TOO CAN BE ADVANCED AS ATLAS. EAT THAT PIETRO HA!
Salem clicks off her TV. Hazel: So... I will go get the ice cream...
Tyrian:
Gets Salem her depression blanket. To Be Continued.
And a Ramble, and yes u/Ben10EXtreme, it will probably not be short
Rando: So Sten. Why don't you ever compare RWBY Ships to other Ships?
Stenv: Because there's nothing to really compare.
Rando: Bu-
Stenv: Look it's one thing to compare characters, and I try to often get characters that have had legit bad writing moments, but just enough good. To show yeah, sure you can have bad stuff but that doesn't mean it needs to stay bad.
Action in RWBY, well yeah the Monty stuff still holds up to this day.
But ships? Hell no!
Rando: But Arkos was cute and the songs!!!!
Dragon!Cinder:
Laughs herself to near death. Rando: Bu-but-BUT!
Stenv: No. Look I am going to be brutally blunt. People can like their ships. But for me
personally, meaning don't take my word as law. RWBY ships are... they will never be more than oh that's cute to me.
See...
Some ships in RWBY have actual good
chemistry. Ruby and Penny for example.
But
None have legit
Substance. Rando: Well that's...
Stenv: Sonic x Sally, it may never come back, even if i hope Sally and the Freedom Fighters do come back. But I will give one instance that blows every RWBY ship out of the water, to show you why it's unfair to compare RWBY ships to other ships. But I am not unfair. I will give you
One chance to defend a ship of your choice.
Rando: Uhhhh Lancaster!
Stenv: Uuu I like that one, you already have a good brownie point there.
Randi: But I thought you preferred NutsandDolts?
Stenv: Yes. Absolutely, but that doesn't mean I'm only going to have one Ruby Ship.
Rando: Either way! So Jaune was her first friend at Beacon! She inspired him when no one else could in the Bully Arc! They have nicknames for each other! Craterface and VomitBoy!
And they're both trying their best to be heroes! To live up to a legacy, and had each other's backs all the way to Atlas! So yeah! Fuck you Stenv!
Stenv: Hmm neat. Anything else?
Rando: Uhhh.... well... I...
Stenv: Did Ruby ever call him handsome or anything?
Rando:... Well no...
Stenv: In fact as a friend told me, Blake was gushing over him as the rusted knight, and Weiss apparently considered him handsome.
Rando: Well... Ruby said he was nice... in the exam...
Stenv: Look you can still like it... but lemme give you just one example. I could do two, but that would be a massacare. CINDER!
Dragon!Cinder: Huh?!
Stenv: Could I get a solid, and could you light the fire place? It's story time.
She lights the fire, and then Rando and Randi grab their plushies and sit down, as Stenv takes out a few comic books. Stenv: So this is from what is known as the Genesis Arc, a good reference to the Sega Genesis.
But for backstory, long ago in Flynns run, Eggman had nearly triumphed, he burned Knothole Village to the ground, all hope seemed lost for Sonic and friends.
But Amy and Tails, managed to get him back on his feet, and stop him from being reckless.
And with a second wind, and his spirit not broken. He fought the mad doctor. And much like how Sonic nearly broke, Sonic managed to actually
break the eggman down, driving him into a catatonic insanity!
Rando: Holy shit!
Stenv: Indeed. But Sonic couldn't bring himself to finish Eggman off, for even inspite of everything Eggman had done and would continue to do. Sonic isn't that type of man, he is an in the moment kind of guy.
And seeing Eggman in that state, he could still feel sympathy even for someone like him.
And for a time, Eggman was out of the equation.
But no... that wasn't the end... he rationalized his way out of insanity... and gained a new
darker more insidious outlook. For he theorized the true reason why he could never win. Sonic was pure chaos itself. So instead of simply trying to rid himself of the hero.. he would rid himself of the things he could deal with...
Randi:
Shivers as she can practically feel the mad doctor's laugh. Stenv: So he built up the new and improved Death Egg, proofed against magic, a mecha that could fight specific magic users that could control tech, a city destroying egg laser, fleets of drones that could keep any back up from helping Sonic and Sally as they raided the death egg.
Improved encryption that could even delay the best hacker, Nicole.
And the coup de gras, a world roboticizer...
But that wasn't his main goal...
No he wanted to reset all of reality... to make the world once more vulnerable to roboticization. Turning everyone into his robotic slaves...
And he succeeded, but not before Sally Acorn was gunned down.
Dragon!Cinder: NO!
Stenv: Yes... but that's the thing about universal resets, she was alive there. But at first Sonic and Sally didn't have their memories back, but there was still that attraction but more importantly as time kept building between them, not just because of the constant flirting.
But there was a connection that made their togetherness feel right. And that connection helped Sonic regain his memories and overcome the rebooted Eggman.
But even as Sonic was restoring the universe back to normal with seconds to spare, to go save Sally. They had one more goodbye to each other, and even though everything was uncertain... Sally believed they would be fine.. .and when the universe was reset back to normal.
Sonic saved Sally. But on one of the windows? Was a message Sonic had wrote for Sally in the other Timeline.
Their love was so strong, it survived two universal resets.
Rando:.... Holy shit...
Stenv: But yes... That's why I can never compare RWBY Ships to other Ships, all RWBY ships have is cute factor, nothing more. It's sad but true.
Hell even Tangle and Whisper despite Sega Mandates trying to deny that. Still has more substance despite not being official, like Bumblebee is supposedly. But they earned it more, so hopefully one day Sega will relent.
But that's enough, lets go back to playing video games.
Randi: I get to pick Jigglypuff in Smas-
Everyone starts beating her up. Dragon!Cinder devouring her! submitted by

2023.03.22 02:29 ResponsibleOlive8136 Where Can I Watch 'Cocaine Bear' Free Online Streaming?
Universal Pictures! Here are options for downloading or watching Cocaine Bear streaming the full movie online for free on 123movies & Reddit, including where to watch the anticipated Horror movie at home. Cocaine Bear 2023 available to stream? Is watching Cocaine Bear on Disney Plus, HBO Max, Netflix or Amazon Prime? Yes, we have found an authentic streaming option/service.
Watch Now: Cocaine Bear Online Free The film industry has no shortage of movies based on real-life events, all with varying accuracy to the events that are being adapted. From impeccably faithful biopics like the story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. seen in Selma (2014) to looser comedic outings like the recent parody Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, films based on true stories are easily the most common and sought-after premises by studios for potential projects, as they're typically far easier to procure the rights for than an established, popular IP. It feels like every other week a new film based on real-life events hits either movie theaters or any of the many streaming services out there, but every once in a while, a film releases a trailer with the words "Based on a true story" in it that features a premise so bizarre and so absurd that it can't possibly be true.
Yet, a true story is exactly what inspired the next film from filmmaker Elizabeth Banks, Cocaine Bear (2023), which tells the very real story of, you guessed it, a black bear under the influence of cocaine. Well, to be perfectly honest, the inciting incident and namesake of the film is seemingly the only true event to be seen, originating from an event where a wild Georgian bear helped itself to a large serving of smuggled cocaine when a plane crashed in the state in 1985. The horrific and bloody rampage that the bear embarks on for the film adaptation is fictional, but it also looks like a hell of an absurd good time.
Where can you watch Cocaine Bear? Is it on Netflix? What about HBO Max? Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:
What Is the Release Date for Cocaine Bear?
Moviegoers everywhere shall be able to see a mammal with a drug addiction wreak havoc and destruction on the state of Georgia when Cocaine Bear premieres exclusively in theaters on Friday, February 24th, 2023.
Is Cocaine Bear Being Released on Streaming or in Theaters?
Audiences who wish to learn just exactly how one of nature's apex predators ingested at least a kilo of an illicit substance will have to find a theater near them as that's the place where Cocaine Bear will be available once it premieres later this upcoming February. No announcements in regard to if and when Cocaine Bear will receive a streaming release have not yet been made, but Peacock seems to be a likely streaming home for the dark comedy given it's a production of Universal Pictures.
Peacock has a limited array of content for free and two main paid subscription plans, the latter two options of which will likely be required should Cocaine Bear arrive there. The base premium subscription costs $5.99 USD per month and features Peacock's entire catalog of movies and films with limited ads. The second and slightly more expensive premium plus plan costs $9.99 USD per month and removes ads entirely outside of live events and adds the ability to download select titles for offline viewing.
Where to Watch Cocaine Bear Online Free?
As of now, the only way to watch Cocaine Bear is to head to a theater when it releases on Friday, Feb. 3. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or buy on digital platforms like Vudu, Amazon, Apple and YouTube, or become available to stream on Peacock. Read on for more information.
Watch Now: Cocaine Bear Online Free
Following its release in theaters, the film will be available to stream on Peacock. Expect the movie to hit the streamer 45 days after its theatrical run, which should be sometime in December.
Will Cocaine Bear be on Netflix?
Unfortunately, Cocaine Bear isn’t available to stream on Netflix. The romantic comedy isn’t included in the lineup of Netflix movies, which includes a vast number of rom-coms featuring some of our favorite actors and actresses.
If you want to watch Julia Roberts movies on Netflix, check out Ben Is Back, August: Osage County, Steel Magnolias, and Runaway Bride. Roberts always appeared in Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve with her Cocaine Bear co-star George Clooney, and both movies are currently streaming on Netflix as of October 2023.
Will Cocaine Bear Streaming On HBO Max?
No, Cocaine Bear will not be on HBO Max since it’s not a Warner Bros. movie. While the company previously released its movies on HBO Max and in theaters on the same day, they have since stopped and have implemented a 45-day window between the theatrical release and streaming release.
Will Cocaine Bear Available On Peacock?
While a streaming release date has not yet been announced for Cocaine Bear, we can estimate when it could head to Peacock based on another Universal Pictures movie.
Violent Night, which hit theaters on Dec. 2, became available to stream on Peacock on Jan. 20 — a little over 45 days after its theatrical release. If Cocaine Bear follows the same pattern, it could make its way to the platform by mid-April. However, other movies like Nope took more than 100 days, so it’s best to take this estimate with a grain of salt.
What Is Cocaine Bear About?
Considering the enormous amount of writing talent that swims in our worldwide creative lake it can often be surprising when, beyond documentaries, we learn of a particular tale being true. However, sometimes the best and most ludicrous stories can only be the work of reality, and Cocaine Bear is one such narrative. Of course, exact details regarding the originality of the plot are yet to be seen but, with a true story as incredible as this one, it would be fair to suggest the writers may stay true to life.
The tale of Cocaine Bear dates back to an incident in December 1985. A notorious and previously convicted drug smuggler, who also happened to be a former narcotics officer, was piloting a plane when he realized his cargo was far too heavy. In an attempt to lighten his load, he dropped a duffel bag full of cocaine out of the plane. The pilot, Andrew C. Thornton II, then decided to chase after his fallen goods but, upon attempting to open his parachute, failed and plummeted to his death below. This may already seem like a wild tale, but it is truly only the beginning. The duffel bag of cocaine, worth almost fifteen million US dollars, then fell into the hands of a 175-pound American black bear who decided to consume it. The narrative of the film is likely to follow the events of the bear who, under this incredible influence, went on a drug-fueled killing spree. The rest of the story, due to its non-fiction nature, has been well documented, however, to avoid any potential spoilers for the film it may be wise to leave the tale at that juncture.
