A sharply worded whitepaper from law firm Cooper and Kirk accuses regulators at the FDIC and the FED of an illegal and unconstitutional attack on crypto done without cover of law or Congressional approval. Cooper and Kirk are one of the most powerful and influential law firms in Washington. The firm’s attorneys have frequently appeared before the Supreme Courtand as of 2021 “six former interns or associates of Cooper & Kirk [were] serving as U.S. Supreme Court clerks.” So this broadside isn’t coming from an obscure and unconnected law firm:
Recent stories in the financial press have uncovered a coordinated campaign by prudential bank regulators to drive crypto businesses out of the financial system. Bank regulators have published informal guidance documents that single out cryptocurrency and cryptocurrency customers as a risk to the banking system. Businesses in the cryptocurrency marketplace are losing their bank accounts, or their access to the ACH network, suddenly, and with no explanation from their bankers. The owners and employees of cryptocurrency firms are even having their personal accounts closed without explanation. And over the past two weeks, federal regulators have shut down a solvent bank that was known to be serving the crypto industry and, although it is required to resolve banks through the “least cost resolution” to the Deposit Insurance Fund, the FDIC chose to shutter rather than sell the part of the bank that serves digital asset customers, costing the Fund billions of dollars.
This pattern of events is not random, and we have seen it before. This is not the first time that federal bank regulators, working with their State-level counterparts, have abused their supervisory authority to label businesses unworthy of having a bank account and worked in secret to purge disfavored lines of commerce from the financial system. Beginning in 2012, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System carried out a coordinated campaign to weaponize the banks against industries that had fallen out of favor with the administration—including gun stores, pawn shops, tobacco stores, payday lenders, and a host of other brick and mortar businesses. That campaign was called Operation Choke Point.
Our firm successfully challenged Operation Choke Point, and it was brought to a halt. The current bout of regulatory overreach against the crypto industry is illegal for much the same as reason as its predecessor. Specifically:
• Operation Choke Point 2.0 deprives business of their constitutional rights to due process in violation of the Fifth Amendment. It is well settled that when a federal agency attaches a derogatory label to an individual or business, and this stigmatizing label causes the business to lose a bank account or broadly precludes them from the pursuit of their chosen trade, the agency has violated the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment, unless if first afforded the individual or business a right to be heard. This is precisely what the federal bank regulators responsible for Operation Choke Point 2.0 have done and continue to do by labeling crypto businesses a threat to the financial system, a source of fraud and misinformation, and a risk to bank liquidity.
• Operation Choke Point 2.0 violates both the non-delegation doctrine and the anticommandeering doctrine, depriving Americans of key structural constitutional protections against the arbitrary exercise of governmental power.
• By leveraging their authority over the banks to acquire the power to pick and choose the customers whom the banks may serve, the bank regulators have exceeded their statutory authority. The bank regulators are charged with supervising the safety and soundness of the banks; their effort to anoint themselves the gatekeepers of the financial system and the ultimate arbiters of American innovation and American economic life cannot be permitted to stand.
• The federal bank regulators are also refusing to perform their non-discretionary duties when doing so will benefit the cryptocurrency industry. State banks that are statutorily entitled to access the federal reserve system are being denied their rights solely because they serve the crypto industry. The federal bank regulators are not free to pick and choose which statutory obligations they duties they wish to perform.
• The federal bank regulators are evading the notice and comment rulemaking requirements of the administrative procedure act by imposing binding requirements on the banking industry through informal guidance documents. This is undemocratic, since it deprives the public of the right to comment on proposed rules, and it also runs contrary to the principle of judicial review, since courts lack the power to review “informal” agency actions.
• Finally, the federal bank regulators are acting in an arbitrary and capricious fashion by failing to adequately explain their decisions, by failing to engage in reasoned decision making, and by failing to treat like cases alike. It is difficult to imagine a more arbitrary and capricious agency action than simultaneously placing a solvent bank into receivership solely because it provided financial services to the crypto industry, while permitting insolvent institutions not tied to the crypto industry to continue operating.
…The persistent unwillingness of the nation’s bank regulators to follow the law and obey the Constitution calls out for Congressional action. Cracks are starting to form in the American financial system as its regulators increasingly abuse their power to achieve aims outside their authority and beyond their competence….We therefore urge Congress to perform its oversight role and hold these agencies to account.
I agree that financial regulation has been employed unconstitutionally, illegally, and covertly to control and regulate economic activity. One of my big fears is that a Central Bank Digital Currency would render nearly every transaction in the entire economy legible and primed for government monitoring and control. Thus, it is crucial to uncover, understand and debate the clandestine nature of financial regulation before the urgency of crisis is used to push us into an undesirable new equilibrium that will be difficult to escape.

Have your infantry storm the walls instead of following behind siege engines if you need to use siege engines. Keep them In two seperate groups and pull from those groups of you need soldiers to perform rolling duty.
Split atleast 100 archers into 2 or 3 loose formations and then place them “under” enemy onagers in front of the walls spaced out accordingly. If you have fians and sharpshooters they will lay down suppressing fire upon the ramparts like Xerxes. Once the Siege enemies reach their mark, storm.
This is the idea but the A.I. is wonky especially when it comes to using the siege engines and keeping them from wanting to just follow slowly while dying to onager blasts, like flies.
I never use any type of siege equipment if I can help it (if the enemy has less than 300 defenders and I can match them or atleast come close.
Also It would be cool if sieges took place on the Castle/town maps with day night cycles in real time (whateve the second to minute time ratio is) Then we could perform all the tactics (ambush and sally) in real time as night and day comes and goes. Idk if the engine could handle it or if the A.I. would work but if you think about it sieges would be even funner than they are.
“I need 20 good men” Sneak into attacker camps with small enough squads to raid supplies, loose horses, start fires (why isn’t fire a part of the ambush section? I’m guessing they just haven’t got to it yet.)
Fire could make things that too easy but I propose a solution. If I could choose my ambush troops and use all axemen or switch it up by making the ambush like a mini escort mission with several peasants holding torches that you have to protect by clearing a path and keeping them from Being slaughtered. Then they set fire to the seige machines.
As an attacker you’d then had to priotize putting out the fire, making sure the camp isn’t completely exposed or maybe taking the oppurtunity to anticipate an ambush and send a unit thru the open gates to skirmish and capture the lord. I think wood, tools, and other supplies should be something we have to purchase from recruiter or merchants if we plan On using seige engines.
A nice way to implement Stealth would be 10 man sorties at night sent to spy on the camp and either gather info to create an oppurtunity for ambush or capture a lord and take them into the castle for torture and/or parlay schemes. This would require some serious balancing. High risk high reward. That’s why I think hero and player death should be based on “extra lives” (not a percentage based chance after receiving fatal wounds) earned with each tier and by finding “relics” in hideouts or back alleys.
Lastly, I think sally out should pitch the battle on the same siege map instead of the barren wilderness it currently loads. Ambush and sally out should be the same thing with different objectives same dynamics. I have faith. I’m off work and I’m playing all day today.

In the process of exploring the reasons behind my RJ, I’ve come to the conclusion it’s really not about my partners past - it’s about mine. She did what she did and can’t change that. It’s all in the past. On top of that, we actually have the same body count when it comes to actual sex, it’s just she’s fooled around with more people than me.
My mental exploration into why I’m still bothered by her past even when we slept with the same number of people led me to the aha moment that it’s not about her, but about me and my past. I grew up in a religious, strict home and was terrified of doing anything more than kiss girls (even then I was told by church youth group pastors that too was a sin). The fear was either I would go to Hell or my Dad would kick my ass if I ever got caught doing anything remotely sexual. So I didn’t fool around with anyone until college. But even then it wasn’t a lot until I met my would-be wife.
My wife on the other hand had the typical teenage experience. Kissed guys, got fingered, gave handjobs, some oral (I think). And this really bothers me. But I’ve discovered it’s because I wish I had a similar experience. Instead of fear driving me to avoid having fun, I wish I would have chilled a bit and done more with girls.
The sad part is that I had opportunities. Plenty. But I always held back in order to the be honorable, good Christian boy. And I hate that now. That I gave up on all the fun my friends and my wife had. And that is what bothers me. It’s about me, my choices, and my regret, and about not her.
Is anyone similar, where you’re literally jealous of your partner because you wanted those experiences too? Is there any rationalization you go through to comfort yourself?

Hi all, I have been training to become a Unity developer for about 3 years (or almost).
I have a portfolio comprising 3 finished titles and a 4th in-dev, I have a GitHub, a demo reel, I'm in various discord groups, on linkedin, following all the hashtags (i.e. #gamedevjobs etc), following most studios (a mix of big names and ones local to my city and outlying areas) and I'm constantly pushing to try and improve and grow, etc.
I have two distinct issues:
1: rarely get replies from applications, but when they do dane to send a dear john, my request for feedback is ghosted 100% of the time. In all the time I've been applying (around the last year or so) I've had one feedback, it was three lines long and quite generic and this was just from a random recruiter on linkedin, and not off the back of an application.
2: I hardly ever see roles for Unity developer even come up anymore, especially not on linkedin, so where are they?
I think I'm definitely ready for an entry level role, especially when I see posts on linkedin constantly from people celebrating they got hired and half the time don't even have a githum link up.
So, hive mind of gamedev, is there anything else I could be doing? Or am I just f--ked?

Throughout my life, from when I was about 16, I've carried the thought of killing myself as something of a safety pin- "heyy, if things DO get as bad as I fear, I can always just kill myself", but when things did eventually get that bad, I never could seriously consider going through with it and instead set a new low at which I'd finally kill myself (wash and repeat). It was a cowardly self-reassuring thought and it worked wonders.
..well, now, after months of extraordinary stress, existential doom and self-reflection, I am ready! I can clearly imagine it, whatever manner I consider, I will do it. It's my choice and I've reached the point where it's not a threat towards myself or a mechanism to protect myself, it's just another choice I make for myself, one I know I am ready for. It's a breakthrough! I officially feel fucked in life. All my fears realised- I'm that useless 25 year old I've always been terrified of becoming.
So, my plan is, since I'm killing myself anyway, to push myself this next month. All the bullshit I'm avoiding- I'm suicide missioning this. I've told myself "starting tomorrow blahblah" so many times the phrase means nothing anymore, lmao- know that feeling? But now, I'm fully weaponized with the ability to end it and honestly kinda pissed off. Geeezz... I've really let myself down by getting all the way to this point, didn't I. It sucks too, because I love life. But I'm also REALLY tired of living and my brain doesn't work properly anymore, so this feels like that one last spark before going out.

It's abundantly clear from the epilogue John possesses not a whiff of this skill. Arthur is a bit better but again, he's got nothing like Dutch's and Hosea's gift for the silver tongue.
I wonder if they just never bothered to try and instruct Arthur and John in this particular skillset, or if the boys were no good at it from the beginning and they gave up.

I'm having hard time deciding who am I? Am I a kind person who wants to help myself and people I care about? Am I antagonist, who don't believe in people and doesn't care about people?
Sometimes I'm calm and kind of understand why my parents and my grandparents were messed up people and I don't want to hold resentment towards them and take my healing in my own hands. Dr. Gabor Mate gave this advice in one of his books that when given choice between resentment and guilt, always choose guilt. I agree with him, I've seen what resentment, hatred can do and I don't want to do the same.
Sometimes I'm like I hate this world, I hate my family, I hate people around me. I feel like I'm similar to my grandma in that way, someone filled with rage and just negative emotions. Doesn't really care about people. Hate to say this but somewhat Narcissists.
Sometimes I'm like a child who loves her parents and family. Gets happy when they buy chocolates or say do something for me. I feel like I'm a dumb person and somewhat innocent.
Sometimes I'm more calm and composed, I don't trust the world but I won't do anything to hurt the world. I don't quite feel the anger when I state some hard truth. I don't buy toxic positivity, if I'm gonna loose a friend for this, it doesn't affect me. I'm like it's their choice and I've nothing to do with this. I appear to be cold and somewhat intelligent.

First off I wanted to sincerely thank everyone for their kind words regarding a bully who lives with me. I've got the determination to see this garden through no matter what! So far I've filled a 16 inch raised garden bed with hugelkultur and I have a good 6 inches of good soil to plant in now, I hope it will be enough for a nice salsa garden, some eggplants and a couple cucumbers!
Now here's where things get interesting, during my hugelkultur raised bed filling, I noticed my compost bin (a repurposed black storage bin), had the lid slightly cracked open whereas the rest of the lid was closed tight.
"Eh No problem, maybe I forgot to close it all the way when i dumped in my kitchen scraps,"
I opened that box and a mouse Parkoured off my leg and vanished like a ninja into the brush as I screamed- ran out of air- and Screamed some more. My soul left my body, i tooted a little bit
Now im just a simple Suburban-slicker. Never dealt with rats or mice or seen one before, we're pretty clean in my house and make sure to keep up with pest preventative spraying and such. Im used to ants, maybe a silver bug, a fly perhaps, but nothin that stars in a Disney classic.
My eyes immediately traveled to the small cardboard square plot that was gonna hold my corn and no-till potato experiment, where I was gonna lay down a couple inches of compost and cover the potatoes with hay (The Ruth Stout Method i think?) And interplant with corn since it apparently inhances the potatoes flavor and...cmon its Corn who hates corn? Not mice or deer thats for sure
(My supportive gaurdian loves potatoes and corn so I wanted to try to grow some as a gift for them for helping me since corn came in a pack with the tomatoes, peppers and such)
I wasn't even sure how to interplant corn and potatoes properly, but after My John Wick mouse friend disappeared into the brush Ima, Ima lil scared guys I wont pretend! And I really dont have the stomach for mouse traps, ima vegetarian
Does anyone have any advice to prevent other furry critters from making a home in my soil-hay corn and potato patch do u think? Spray it routinely with peppermint oil or cayenne? Plant flowers around it? Abandon the corn plot? Burn my house down? Im open to any suggestions really-

He retires in august this year and I will fully take on his role, however I will not be getting 20% more. I know the job inside out and there is absolutely nobody else who can do it, I have to train someone.
My question is, how do I go about asking for a 20% pay rise as if I don’t get it I will be leaving the company and they will struggle. They will get by as most companies do but they will find it very hard and very expensive to replace me. As I say if I don’t get the 20% I will be leaving but I am not willing to say that to the manager as I want the pay rise to be out of morals and not fear of me leaving

- Above all, we're looking for someone who can reliably play weekly on Friday evenings (6pm GMT+2 but the exact starting time is still negotiable) and is based in a similar time zone. For the sake of convenience, we're only seeking GMT/European time adjacent players.
- You must be 18+. Also, like Curse of Strahd, the Domains of Dread are a setting with plenty of dark elements and possible triggers, so it's important that you are aware of it while applying. I am mindful of the players' limitations but if you are not into horror as a genre, perhaps this isn't the campaign for you.
- As I stated in the title, this is a LGBTQ+ friendly group, so it's expected of every player to be cool with that.
- Working mic - obviously.
- It's not a requirement per se, but something that would be very appreciated - those who consider themselves fans of horror are most likely to enjoy this game.
- I highly encourage out of character interactions and hope to find sociable players, happy to engage with everyone else on the server.
- We'll be using Foundry as Virtual Tabletop and play over Discord voice chat.
- The exact character level will vary depending on adventure, you can reuse characters but for some you may need to create new ones. Specific char creation rules: no variant humans, but everyone gets a free starting feat. We're rolling for stats, with the possibility of using standard array or point buy in case Avrae isn't cooperative. All official content is allowed, plus some third party content such as the Bloodhunter and Gunslinger. Homebrew is not allowed in character creation.

Sometimes my anger part wants kick shit and gets frustrated that she can’t inside my head. Is it good to release angry energy outwardly? Like I tapped the wall with my foot. I wouldn’t even call it a kick, just laying down tapping the wall a bit with my foot and realized how much better it felt. Maybe because it’s grounding but also a release of that bit of energy. I try not to be outwardly angry both for myself and for others and because I’ve heard acting angrily (ripping paper, punching the wall, etc) can make you more angry. So I’m always hesitate to show any outward anger in fear of making it worse but my anger part hates being trapped in my head and not allowed to be expressed. What are your thoughts?
