2023.03.31 18:30 KeyToTheStorm Is it worth me (28M) ‘talking it out’ with her (24F) if she ignored my msg of apology?

Hey guys,
I (28M) had an awkward situation occur with an acquaintance (24F) last year.
Long story short: She took a liking to me, I didn’t catch on until months later; tension developed.
Ultimately, it was nothing serious and a miscommunication on both of our parts.
After some time had lapsed, I messaged her and apologized for what occurred and took responsibility for my errors.
However, she ignored my message.
I’m okay with this, but in the very near future, we’re going to run in to each other as we both frequent the same places.
I don’t know whether to approach her and let her know not to worry about the whole thing, or completely ignore her as I’ve already tried to rectify the situation?
If it isn’t resolved, there will forever be this awkward tension between us and I’m completely exhausted by it. I feel like I’m walking on egg shells having to dodge this person.
What should I do?
Thank you.
TLDR: Should I talk it out with her or ignore her?

From a Sarajevo War Survivor: Experiencing horrible things that can happen in a war - death of parents and friends, hunger and malnutrition, endless freezing cold, fear, sniper attacks.
Stockpiling helps. but you never no how long trouble will last, so locate near renewable food sources. Living near a well with a manual pump is like being in Eden. After awhile, even gold can lose its luster. But there is no luxury in war quite like toilet paper. Its surplus value is greater than gold's. If you had to go without one utility, lose electricity - it's the easiest to do without (unless you're in a very nice climate with no need for heat.) Canned foods are awesome, especially if their contents are tasty without heating. One of the best things to stockpile is canned gravy - it makes a lot of the dry unappetizing things you find to eat in war somewhat edible. Only needs enough heat to "warm", not to cook. It's cheap too, especially if you buy it in bulk. Bring some books - escapist ones like romance or mysteries become more valuable as the war continues. Sure, it's great to have a lot of survival guides, but you'll figure most of that out on your own anyway - trust me, you'll have a lot of time on your hands. The feeling that you're human can fade pretty fast. I can't tell you how many people I knew who would have traded a much needed meal for just a little bit of toothpaste, rouge, soap or cologne. Not much point in fighting if you have to lose your humanity. These things are morale-builders like nothing else. Slow burning candles and matches, matches, matches

The Main gameplan of the team is simple: Spam Exactly Gregor's Legerdemain nigh every turn and get as many Maggots Procs as possible to make it hurt even more. As such, almost everyone on the team generates at least some Green and Orange to fuel it. Moreover, the myriad of debuffs from G. Corp Outis and LCCB Ishmeal/Rodya also help make Legerdemain hit as hard as possible. A particular mentioned should go to Ishmeal and her Snagharpoon which can get turned on with little risk thanks to the extra wrath and Light Blue we generate. Faust is there not just because her sin affinities happen to line up well, but also because the extra Dark Blue we generate means we can occasionally Representation Emitter and Path to Minos people if need be. It also doesn't hurt that Ennui is even more damage that we can add. We can also Ebony Stem People if we really need a group to die but it isn't great for spamming it since we need to green for Legerdemain more than anything. The Support Passives are mostly just whatever I had on me that worked with Green and Orange since that's what we're going to be generating the most of.

2023.03.31 18:25 Hug_the_Curve I don't know how you put up with it.

This is a FSD rant. I live in an area of suburbs among many areas best defined as rural. The roads are all usually 35 to 45 mph and none have changed speeds in the two decades I have been out here. I don't live in a world of grid like roads you find in a city.
I cannot even make a FSD drive to a grocery store less than five miles from my house let alone the ten mile drive to my parents without disengaging FSD either out of frustration or to communicate to Tesla that it did something wrong.
I do leave some choice words when it prompts me for why I disengaged. I am not even remotely embarrassed by the language I use anymore. I want to participate in the beta but honestly at times I am aghast at how bad it is. I would be too embarrassed to show it off to anyone. I am certainly too embarrassed to use it anyone gets behind me.

2023.03.31 18:25 Brief-Affect-606 The challenges to get costumes on this game continue to be way too hard

Look, i appreciate a good challenge. But i have yet to get a single costume i want other than the Raid swat armor, which i only got by starting a new easy campaign dedicated to that single challenge.
The bruce lee fit is never going to be attainable for me. I consider myself pretty solid at this game and i love it, but these arenas can be insanely hard to get 3 stars on, so far ive only gotten 2 fully done and theyre on page 1. Forget the other tabs.
These challenges would be great for platinum achievement hunters, but the costumes should be made way more accessible to the average player. I expect only 5% of players are going to get the tracksuit, and its not even as if its for bragging rights since theres no multiplayer, its literally just a skin people would enjoy.

2023.03.31 18:24 ryloft03 How Niantic Can Fix Pokemon GO

This is going to be a really long post. Sorry.
As I'm sure most of you know now, Niantic is increasing the price of the Remote Raid Pass to 195 coins (525 for a 3-pack) on April 6, 2023. I, along with many other Pokemon GO players, are deciding to step away from the game for varying lengths of time. I think at this point, the only way they will listen to us is if we destroy their profits.
However, if someone from Niantic is reading this, this post is not about how we can "take down Niantic." No, this post is going to go into detail about how Niantic can alter Pokemon GO to fit the needs of the users and the company. Without further ado, let's get into it, because I have class in 6 hours and its 4:30 in the morning.
1) Lower the price of Premium Raid Passes, or give out multiple free passes a day.
This one is self-explanatory. Instead of raising the price of one option, make the other options seem more desirable. Niantic can do this by bringing the price of the premium raid pass down to incentivize users to opt for one of those, or just give out multiple daily raid passes per day. Now, this would be better for users, but it would force Niantic to actually discount items and possibly make a little less money from them, which will never happen.
2) Make accommodations for rural/suburban players.
Everyone loves beating up on raids from their house, but for many people it is the only option they have. I think Niantic needs to wake up and realize that if you aren't in a huge city, there likely won't be enough people that can raid with you in person. The game is 7 years old at this point. That is around a third of my lifetime and probably around that for many PoGo players. The user base has dropped off. There aren't people running outside like in 2016. A literal pandemic has come and (mostly) gone since then. I live in a college town with gyms galore and I still need to use a third-party app to get anything done, and hiking up the price of remote passes isolates most of the community, and makes it a true pay-to-play situation for many.
3) Incentivize going outside again.
Throughout the years we've had to pull on Niantic's leg over and over again to get them to add a lot of features (trading, PVP, etc.), but while they have slowly added more and more over the years, everything is still centered around the same 2016 mechanics: spin Pokestop to get Potions and Pokeballs, put Pokemon in Gym, repeat. Now, they even have things like gifts and Adventure Sync where you don't need Pokestops, or to go out to get these items. So why would we care about going out to partake in raids? We just don't care about going out anymore because we've seen most of the things there are to see in this game, and we can get the items from Async anyway. They took an attempt to step in the right direction with the Daily Incense, but again, that's just stuff we have seen with a very slight chance that a rare thing spawns, and even then a very slight chance that you can catch said thing.
So how would I fix things?
Let me preface this by saying I am a 20-year-old college student who is not versed in business or economics. I know things about Computer Science/Programming but that's the extent of it. So with that said:
Let's start with how they can help out rural/suburban players. We're going to take something directly from the main series Pokemon games: Raid Dens. In the main series, these dens are in locations on the map that are either fixed in a location or change everyday. In Pokemon GO, they will not be fixed locations on the map. The way to find Raid dens is by walking around, but instead of seeing it far away on a map like a Gym, the Raid Den will spawn near you based on how far you have walked that day. For example, someone who stays inside will likely not see a den, but someone who walks a few kilometers will have an increased chance of one spawning. Once you click on this den, you will have the option to use a Raid Pass to battle the Pokemon found inside the den. You can also invite friends, who will need to use a Remote Raid Pass, but if you choose not to fill your raid party with your friends, NPCs will fill in and help you fight the Pokemon, just like in the main series games. This will allow rural players to stand a chance against 4-5 star raids without using a remote pass, and will give Niantic that sweet, sweet money that comes with the Raid Passes and even better, location data from walking.
Now, a few other things to spruce up the game. Add more overworld structures. One of the most essential concepts in Pokemon is the Pokemon Center, and I honestly expected this to be added in Fall 2016, and I won't lose hope now. Imagine you just got beat by a tough Raid boss, and you have to run down the street to heal your team up at the Pokemon Center because you don't have potions. It doesn't even have to be free, make it cost Stardust or even like 2 Pokecoins per Pokemon, up to 6. And eventually, it refreshes, just like Pokestops do. I'm honestly astonished they never added this, it would have been such a good addition to the game.
And what about something like Secret Bases like we see in the Gen 3 games? Players can set up a tent wherever they like and offer to battle you with a preset team for rewards. They could even make it a team-based "turf war" event, where you have to knock out rival bases and at the end of the week everyone on the team with the most bases gets some sort of reward. That would at least incentivize players to get out more and give teams more of a purpose, as I feel like at this point teams just make the game worse with how Gyms work now. And with these bases, Pokemon Centers, and Raid Dens, in addition to Rocket Stops and potential other additions, the overworld will hopefully start feel like an actual world, and not just a flat green field with occasional towers everywhere.
If all else fails, Niantic needs to cut its losses and sell Pokemon GO.
I know this will never happen. Maybe in 2017 after the hype started to die down, but not in 2023 when Niantic is using PoGo to keep itself relevant. But for a franchise like Pokemon, a game of this importance should be handled by a company who cares about the progression of AR and location-based technology, and not a company who's looking to squeeze every cent out of what is left of its dying fanbase. It's just a shame that a game with so much potential, with so many elements that could take inspiration from almost 30 years of bestselling games, has come to this.
Why do I care so much?
I love Pokemon GO. My first Pokemon game was Pokemon X in 2013, and I fell in love with the franchise. I was about to start 8th grade in 2016, and there was a lot going on in my life. Pokemon GO gave me an escape from dealing with watching my last remaining grandparent losing her battle with cancer that summer. It made me and my siblings feel closer, it made our acquaintance-like cousins into friends for life. While our parents were taking care of her, we would go out and play Pokemon GO at the local school, and meet all of the other kids around that area who played it too. My cousins and siblings, as far as I know, don't play Pokemon GO anymore. I do. Or I did. I'm going to farm some coins in the morning, get to 100, buy a remote pass before the 6th, and then delete the app for the foreseeable future for the first time since 2016.
And I didn't mean to make this into a "heartwarming tale" about how Pokemon GO comforted me, I don't think anyone is going to read up to this point. I just wanted to make clear why I am making this post, not because of the remote passes, that was just the straw that broke the camel's back after 7 years of waiting and waiting for innovation in a game that starved for it. I made this post because I love this game, and I really wanted to see it improve over time and that just did not happen. We eventually got trading, and PVP, and Team Rocket and missions, but there isn't one feature I can say, even today, is complete and fun to play around with. Even from launch, when everyone was having trouble getting on the app, and now today, where in a few days people are declaring the "death of Pokemon GO," there hasn't been a feature that felt complete. It was fun discovering new Pokemon and the Gyms because they were new and exciting, and Niantic hasn't done anything to keep the game fresh. And because of that, taking away a key aspect of the game that people enjoyed is going to bleed the fanbase dry. It may not be permanently now, but it will be eventually if they keep up on this track. Good job Niantic, you just lost one of the most loyal users of your game, at least for now.
TL;DR: Fix the game Niantic.

2023.03.31 18:21 doomguy11 Thoughts on the Sazabi buffs from a long time main of it

Sazabi was recently buffed in the latest patch for the game. It had its 10% reduction leg buffer upped to 25%, 10% back buffer upped to 15%, LV1 Damage Control added, shotgun stun value upped from 18%x8 to 20%x8, shotgun range extended from 175m to 200m, shotgun spread tightened and the shotgun pellet size made larger.
I have been playing around with these buffs quite a bit and it feels great. The shotgun can consistently hit every pellet if your aim is good, even small suits like pre transformation Unicorn aren't safe. Auxiliary generators aren't really required anymore since you have good stun accumulation without needing to rely on the belly megaparticle cannon. This means you can use the great slot layout on the Sazabi to build a high amount of bulk. On my current build I can run 38 ballistic defence, 44 beam resist, 49 melee resist, 24600 HP and the -10% damage taken from funnels due to Psycho Package. Combined with the great buffers you actually become one of the bulkier 700 costers. Of course though you will probably need to sacrifice some of this bulk to take auxiliary generators if you use the long rifle, but still the Sazabi doesn't really have durability issues any longer after this buff. Damage Control doesn't exactly make it hard for enemies to accumulate stun against you since Sazabi is so large, but it isn't as easy as it was before. Suits like Sinanju will need to use their boost shooting skill to stop you quickly rather than just comboing from bazooka to beam rifle. It also means that Phenex funnels need to hit you two more times to stun you.
I think this buff is great but I also feel like they could have gone a little further at the same time. Stunning generals and some raids is easy, but you can't stop LV4 Maneuver Armor in a single shotgun shot without swapping to shield missiles. This isn't the worst thing in the world since you now have a reliable combo route to stop them but it is annoying since Banshee and Stein are going to be the most common raids to see. So if the shotgun could stop MA4 in one shot that would be cool. I also think that the HP could have been buffed to between 22-23k without any issues since you need to use auxiliary generators with the long rifle to make up for its lacking stun accumulation, which means you will be a good deal more fragile there. Finally, I think that Psychoframe Resonance could have been tweaked to activate at 50% HP rather than 30%, just so it could match the Sinanju in that regard. It is certainly a nice buff to mobility but since it doesn't improve your offensive capability it would be nice to see it available sooner. I think I can safely call Sazabi a good enough suit to properly compete at 700 cost but I don't think it is as good as the Sinanju, probably a little bit worse than the Moon Gundam. I am satisfied with this buff but if they tweaked it a little bit further then I think it would be absolutely perfect.
What does everybody else think though? Have you tried Sazabi since the buff? Do you think the buffs were enough, too much or too little?

R630 is running Vmware ESxi 8 and I created four seperate datastores as per drive details above.
I am not new to Raid etc, but trying to make sense of the following:
Sata SSD raid 6 is getting very similar speeds of Enterprise U.2 drives. If that is the case normally, what is the point of getting these expensive drives? I have used sata ssd raid before an luckily have no drive failed in last 5 years in production. But now, I wanna deploy these enterprise drives, but I dont see much difference in read speeds, write speeds are different story.
Thank you for your time in advance.

2023.03.31 18:21 DrunkYetOrderly Moving up from old ASUS VR prebuilt

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
**Extra info or particulars: the old PC is an ASUS ROG G20CB-WS51 Desktop - Intel Core i5-6400 Quad-Core, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970. I've replaced the 970 with another 970 after it seemingly failed. The WiFi and Ethernet also are both unstable - I've tried so much troubleshooting including dongles, bios settings, and a ton of network experimentation, I think the motherboard just has some sort of issue. It is impossible to get more than 30mb/sec and it cuts out freqiently (wired and WiFi both). There was a power surge through our ethernet that I attribute a lot of this to, including the original 970 going out. I can't tell much difference in graphics from 1080 to 4k, but my kids can and we want to make sure if we upgrade the VR eventually that the new PC could handle the latest VR headsets. Eventually a new monitor as well.

2023.03.31 18:20 eliesczhae Solo female traveller - need guidance for 2-week Taiwan visit

Hi, I know people here are probably tired of answering the same travel questions now and then but I am desperate. I did a little research, booked my flights, AirBnB, and will be securing tourist spot tickets soon but I still have several questions.
It's fine if you cannot answer all questions, just one or two is fine with me. I'm just writing these all down on this post so I can collect all the information.
Is it safe to travel all over Taiwan as a solo female traveler? I absolutely do not mean any offense, I am just not familiar with the culture. Are there any places or activities I should avoid to ensure my safety and that I do not offend anybody? I have travel insurance but of course, I don't want to go to jail for doing something illegal or offensive I was not completely aware of.
Is it better for me to buy a Taiwan sim than carry a portable wifi egg (not sure if that's the right name)? Is the grabcacab/taxi fees affordable or would you recommend just taking a public commute like a bus to move between destinations that are 20-30mins apart (approx by car)?
Are there any popular tourist spots that you would NOT recommend for me to visit so I can revise my itinerary? I am interested in pink stores, cafes, and buildings, do you have any recommendations? Any aesthetic hidden gems (not very popular online or with non-locals), can be cafes or parks etc you can recommend?
Lastly, I want to play Genshin Impact and Dota2 while there. Can you recommend a good computer shop with affordable hourly rates around Zhongzheng District?
Thank you so much and I am sorry for the trouble.

2023.03.31 18:18 theboss3256 Path to ascension unable to progress

On my campaign save, me and my friends were up to the part where they initiate you into the church, and you have the option to go through with it or to think it over for a while and we left the game at that point so we could wait for a few other friends to get on since we don't know if we're gonna get the husk symbiosis at this point and when we logged back on the Eccleiast no longer gives us that option and we've tried quitting and rejoining, doing more quests for the Church, travelling to a different station with the Church presence and we've even got 12 calyx eggs again just in case that was the problem and we are still unable to continue the quest line. Do any of you guys know how to fix this/progress?

2023.03.31 18:15 ItsMarbinTime Mina III - Seven Smite the Faithless

7th Moon Great Market Square Ashemark mood
They clamoured for her. Her crowd. Her audience. Her people. They filled the square from end to end to hang on her every word because they knew their place. Beneath her. It was right that they should all gather like this when she spoke, right that they should all see her as the bastion of faith she had painted herself to be. Her plans the moons prior had born wonderful fruit, and before she was done so many more would look up to her as this crowd did.
Mina greeted her people with a smile, as innocent and devout as she could manage. She stood atop the step of her carriage, guards flanking her down below. Her dress billowed in the faint afternoon wind, a silver and sky-blue thing that fit the part of the maiden she played so well.
"Thank you all, friends and faithful, for joining me here today. As I'm sure you are all aware my mission to bring faithfulness to our home has hit resistance at every turn. Those who tower over you care not for your wants. They care not for your faith or prayers. They dare to stand between you and the Gods themselves, proclaiming that they know better than you. I do not believe them."
The murmurs of the crowd grew as she talked, and she watched her words ripple across the faceless masses. Gods, they were easy to control. "Our faith is as precious as the very water we drink, and I cannot bring myself to understand why those who administer our lands cannot see that. Are our voices not loud enough? Do we not cry out in prayer? Why must our pleas for faithfulness and love be met with display after display of empty excess?"
"I cannot let my people suffer without the light of the seven. To be noble is to serve the gods, and I embrace the responsibility my blood places upon me. I hereby announce that it is my aim to sponsor the construction of a grand new sept here in Ashemark. A place where all our faithful may congregate and pray. A display of our collective faith that cannot go ignored. Let nobody forget that we are a faithful people. A loving people. A true people."
"My septon has heard there are those of you who suffer under the weight of hunger. That the taxes my sister levies upon you hardly leave room for food upon your plate. I feel your pain as if it were my own and I cannot bear it. I have ordered that food be brought each day to the market square where it is to be given to those in need. I cannot promise you that your troubles will be over, but I can promise you that I will do everything in my power to heal the harm that has been done to you."
She waved to the crowd, the smile of an innocent, helpful woman belying the sheer joy she felt hearing their cheers and applause. "Together we are strong, we cannot be overcome. And our faith will be rewarded. The Seven shall smite the faithless and we will be saved!"
She couldn't help it, sneaking in one veiled threat to her sister. She had to find enjoyment in leading this feral rabble somehow, after all. Regardless, it was as good a point as any to leave, and she soon backed into her carriage and sank into her seat as it pulled away from the square.

2023.03.31 18:13 lucader881 Earth's Chosen [LitRPG] - Chapter 52

First Previous Next
Cover
Flight Oceanic 416 was several hours away from its destination of Singapore. And, it appeared for a good moment that it was destined to never arrive there. Not in one piece. Vibrations shook the cabin and the passenger space, as screams and yells of terror were drowned in the noise. The metal of the plane buckled and bent, almost to the breaking point. Albert could do nothing but watch it all unfold in slow-motion.
He was a moment away from teleporting back home to safety. The magic buildup was insane, so strong to be perceptible to even the normal senses as a kind of metallic tingle that could be tasted on the skin itself.
Albert looked around in search of the cause of this event. Someone was trying to bring the plane down.
The first thing that crossed his mind was: SpaceOps. But SpaceOps couldn't fly, at least according to his mother's intel. Was he receiving help? Or was he using his teleportation powers – much more advanced than Albert’s own – in a creative and very destructive way? Albert himself could think of various ways to bring a plane down if he needed to, and he knew for certain that SpaceOps had his own set of tricks too.
Then, as suddenly as it started, all the turbulence ended. The buildup of mana in the air ceased and dissipated, the distortion that was beginning to change even the path of visible light flattened and the plane resumed its course. All of this with no sign of the culprit.
The pilot announced that the anomalous updraft was now behind them, and that the rest of the trip should be as uneventful as they come, apologizing for the discomfort.
What the hell just happened?
Time passed. Unlike the first stretch of the journey, now the hours felt like entire days, seconds ticking one after the other incessantly but oh so slowly. Albert stared out of the window in search of signs that another event like the one that almost made his plane crash was about to happen. And while he didn’t find any, he found something else. The closer he got to his destination, the more of a pattern he could see in the way mana existed here.
It was too big to be the result of a single man, no matter how powerful, he thought. Perhaps erroneously in principle, but he was right about this particular event.
The mana. It all seemed to swirl around something. As if it was being moved by inner currents that dragged the ineffable particles it was made of along inscrutable vectors. The worrying thing: the plane was traveling in the same direction as most of the mana currents, which meant that whatever they were converging towards, Singapore - where Albert was headed - was probably close to the epicenter.
Albert landed in a state of altered awareness, different from the daze and confusion of the rest of the passengers and probably of the crew. No matter how much the captain had tried to minimize what happened to a simple case of ‘turbulence’, everyone seemed to know just how close they went to dying. But his mental state was different: not caused by the same things as the rest of the passengers. He was thinking about what to do with what he had seen.
And not only what he had seen from the plane, for he could also see it now, clearer than ever through the windows of the airport, bright as day. The halo of mana gathering somewhere beyond the horizon, towards the mountains that were barely visible behind the skyline of the city. Probably only to his enhanced senses.
His eyes didn’t linger on the impressive sights and the buildings, then, instead scanning the sky and searching for the source of the light only he could see.
He also thought about calling his mother, and weighted the options in his head. It was very unlikely that she would ever allow him to investigate alone.
He sighed.
The first thing he felt when he left the air conditioned airport was the heat. It was like hitting a solid wall, the humid air and the anomalous heat together making him feel lightheaded and dizzy. His shield did not activate, the temperature hot but not dangerously so, and thus he felt it all. It seemed a bit much, even for these latitudes, since it was October. But he had no idea. Was the climate anomalous, did the mana halo he could see somehow alter it, or was it normal around here?
He was no expert on Singaporean weather patterns. Among many other things. Wasn’t this supposed to be a simple field trip? And why did he waste his daily Analysis Mode activation on studying stupid Chinese characters?
He realized just how much he didn’t know about this place. He just boarded the plane and went flying completely blind. Perhaps his mother was trying to teach him a lesson, or making him struggle on purpose (in a controlled environment that could pose no danger if not for the unforeseen event that happened) so he could grow used to improvising. He didn’t really know. There were too many variables.
And now there was the added bonus of whatever was going on with the mana. The king of unforseeable variables. Perhaps she knew through her satellites, though. If this was true, then…
He was overthinking it.
Returning to reality, he could basically taste the mana. Already the air felt different on this side of the planet, full of alien smells and heavy with humidity. The taste of the foreign mana was different but not totally removed from the mana around Tryte, and from the Lithoid Golem he fought when he went to Elvenhome.
He needed to go investigate it, didn’t he? What would happen if he didn’t? Would an event trigger here, in Singapore, where there was no BSA to intervene? Did the HDF even have a local division akin to the BSA in Asia?
A plan hatched in his mind. First things first, with the aid of his new understanding of the language – which didn’t help as much as he thought it would, since he only knew some words – he decided to complete the mission he was sent here to do in the first place.
All the while telling his mother that he was taking longer than planned because he got lost. She got mad when he did, of course, but it was better than the alternative. He could deal with her thinking he was incompetent once he got back.
The location was a warehouse in the middle of an industrial district very far from the tech and skyscrapers of the coast, close to the border. It took a while to get there, but with the help of Appraisal to translate whatever characters he didn’t know, he managed to get his information across and reach the warehouse without much delay.
It was only after a few more hours, when Albert was already following the mana in the sky, that he texted his mother.
>Done with the mission. I want to sightsee a bit.
>…fine, but don’t take too long. We need to proceed with the next phase.
***
The source of the mana was a small, round opening of deep blue. Within it were little lights like stars in the distance, all was plunged in a haze that made it impossible to see on the other side. Appraising it gave some more information, the skill proving very useful when used on magical target inscrutable by normal means.
[Portal to a minor dungeon. Even though it has formed no more than a few hours ago, the dungeon is already leaking mana into the surrounding space, and weakening the fabric of space-time.]
Not good, Albert thought. Definitely not good.
[New Quest: Seal the Eastern Crack.]
“I guess there’s no turning back now.” Albert said, looking at the small portal. He knew that he could not subtract himself from what was, by all means and purposes, something that only he could do.
He touched it. Immediately he felt a surge of foreign mana invade his body, and as his vision went white, he was transported somewhere else. The sounds of the tropical jungle, that had been a constant scream in his ears up until now, ceased. The humid air was suddenly cold and dry.
