Wheelchair friendly places near Beşiktaş
2023.03.25 02:56 Urgharughaughurgh Wheelchair friendly places near Beşiktaş
In a few months I’ll be visiting Istanbul. I’m specifically staying in Beşiktaş. Here’s the issue, my mom, who is also coming with me, is wheelchair bound. Even though I have found resources online, I was curious if any locals knew any good handicap spots in the European side of Istanbul.
Here are a few questions I want answered… -We are looking to get a travel-size ramp to bring to our trip in Istanbul, so on average, how tall are the door thresholds in parts of the city(Certain stores, restaurants, historical locations, steps/stairways,etc…)
-How reliable is public transportation like the metro regarding handicap accessibility?
-My mom is interested in taking a ferry across the Bosphorus. How reliable are the handicap accessible ramps on these boats? (I have seen images of some of these ramps and I am a bit iffy…)
-From a scale of 1-10 (1 being the worse and 10 being the best) how handicap friendly is the European side of Istanbul?
-Any suggestions on Handicap friendly locations in Beşiktaş?
Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

2023.03.25 02:36 SpaceBagel8 Work Accomodations for being unable to drive?
Hi! I'm new here so hope this is okay to post here.
I have a full time job that I love and pays well enough, considering I am very limited when it comes to transportation. I go to work at an office, and it's not far of a bike ride, and my coworkers are kind enough to give me rides too. Everything's great until I have to work at another location. Where I live there is shit public transportation and this week I have to uber there and back, which costs a lot. I'm going to losing more than I'm making that day.
Others have told me it's a bit unfair and that I should talk to HR or something and explain and see what can be done. I don't know how I feel, having had bad experiences with my seizures and other jobs being understanding in the past.
I thought about going to my doctor and seeing if they could write a letter or something about work accomidations and needing to be scheduled at my home location because my transportation issues are due to my seizures. I can't find anything about that specifically so I don't know if that's something I can do, or should do? I'm already in a rough spot financially and this makes it harder. It's not like I can pick up and find another job like this that's reasonably close, or pays as well. Any advice, or anyone else dealing with something similar?

2023.03.25 02:23 ScoobyBSnackin Bungie, please take some risks and do something different with the next Destination (given that there's still time)
Neomuna was marketed to be something quite unique compared to anything else in Destiny. A neon metropolis and a practically vertical playground in which we'll swing across ever inch and mile as we discover(or rather untangle) Strand and what not. I was hoping to fight on skyscrapers dozens of stories off the ground, using Strand to grapple between buildings like we're a certain web-slinging hero. I wondered if we'd see the city streets, so compact and dense that we'd walk from one firefight to the next without moving more than a block. That this destination was taller than it was wide, even if it wasn't as sprawling as we were used too I'd still be content with it.
I knew my hopes wouldn't be met, I didn't expect anything insane but I was sure dreaming of it. Alas, we got big flat open areas, a juice bar, and Deep Stone Crypt, The City (please tell me I'm not the only one who sees this). The park and harbor are extremely boring, and while the Concourse is well fleshed out and detailed it is still far off from what was promised. The outer locations are far more appealing. Esi Terminal actually holds some density for a few steps, and the buildings in Irkalla complex are the closest we ever get to towering skyscrapers. Maya's retreat was an unexpected, but a welcome breath of fresh air from the city. The Typhon was huge, but so hollow. I suspect that was partly on purpose, but I can't help but feel the creative well has dried up for Pyramid interiors. I mean, this is the Opulent Emperor's flagship. I understand if it was more strictly Pyramid had Calus been severely altered by the Witness, but there wasn't any incredible difference in character to justify the ship's rather mundane aesthetic. In short, these areas are ok. Not great, not bad, but just good enough for me to say, ok.
Anyways, if there's still time, Bungie please be more ambitious for the Final Shape's destination. I'd much rather see something different for this saga 'Grand Finale' then more of the same.

2023.03.25 02:18 MailmanSpy [ Bureau of Infrastructure Inspections ] Mojave Mass Transit - Sunday, April 2
Notice of Inspection 27-04022023
DATE: Sunday, April 2, 2023 TIME: Meet 8:00 AM, Roll 8:30 AM from Union Station using Antelope Valley Metrolink; Roll 11:00 AM from Palmdale Station START LOCATIONS: Los Angeles Union Station and Palmdale Metrolink Station
MOJAVE MASS TRANSIT
This is a formal notification of a 40-mile long, 1,100-foot high vehicle acquisition and vendor management inspection of selected mass transportation-associated production facilities. The purpose of this inspection is to figure out what’s delaying the region’s capital projects. Please plan accordingly as there will be many deadheading vehicles. Lights, bike, and invoice sheets all highly recommended.
Be aware that this inspection’s rolling time is a hard deadline as this is when our Antelope Valley Metrolink train will depart Union Station. The inspection will commence at Palmdale Metrolink Station if you would rather meet us there. We will stop for a state-mandated lunch break in the middle of the inspection before ending the ride at Lancaster Metrolink Station at 5:25 PM to go straight back to Union Station. The Bureau highly recommends downloading the official Metrolink app to easily purchase digital train tickets.

2023.03.25 02:09 SecretYeetTA Is A Forced Arbitration Agreement Legal?
Throwaway for reasons. Have a friend that received an arbitration agreement and was told they have less than a week to sign or face termination. Employer already has a very well known, not so great rep for previous (and possibly current) claims/lawsuits for seggzual harassment + retaliation. Is this legal? (located in NJ)

2023.03.25 01:41 Silly_Barracuda_7160 How probable is it to have a dwi early termination in Texas?
I’m on probation for 2 years. I was literally at a gas station sitting, after going out to eat, having my first drinks since my pregnancy… my car was off, keys in middle, compartment.. waiting for Uber (but my location services wouldn’t load) had my mom on the phone.
Anyways, I was arrested because I was way to honest that I had 2 drinks.. but it’s a very small county, and I thought being honest would help out… did not, I was facing two felony dwis for minors and child endangerment because I had my baby in my lap soothing her.. again. Car off, not planning to drive, trying to get an Uber.. no accident, no witnesses..
anyways this happened in nov 21, they finally dropped to a dwi misdemeanor, but I’ve spent $13,000+ and just want to finish out my obligations… I just don’t want this excessive time of paint for interlocks, drug tests, etc…
My lawyer said give it a year and we can file for termination… but really how likely is it?

2023.03.25 01:28 ltuzia How my builds have changed from 0-500 hours
I thought it would be interesting to keep track of changes since I recently hit 500 hours in satisfactory. I have compiled a lot of screenshots over playing the game in this time so I organized and typed a bit on here about each album. There are a few more random comments on the imgur albums linked in this post as well. Maybe other people will find it interesting hopefully as well though I mainly made this post for myself to look back on in the future.
My first save when I downloaded the game I started in grasslands. I played 21 hours or so before I abandoned the save and started over again. Most buildings are built on the ground or hanging way up in the sky because I thought to verticality would be interesting to look at... only there are no supports and it doesn't make much sense like storage. I did have fun placing some things within trees at a nearby coal source I found to expand power shortly before quitting. First save album :
https://imgur.com/a/DU3POZg Second save I played for 35 hours on it before abandoning it. It was the first save I tried using a couple mods in as well. However this was a bad idea and led me to start over again. A hour or two before I left it I had installed the first few to try out, and one of them unlocked all the recipes? I didn't mean for it to do that, and didn't see in the description it would. Opps lol. Anyways when I noticed all my auto saves were gone so it led me to restart because it was too overwhelming seeing all these choices and things I never seen before yet.
In here though I tried to take notice of the things I learned from first save like using foundations to support factories more, and not making storage way up in the air. so it is more accessible. It also includes my first covered factory, and with me experimenting with things like hiding belts more between foundations. I also tried to focus on learning more about pipes and how to place them in more aesthetically pleasing ways. The second save album is here :
https://imgur.com/a/k9MEhjh The third save is my current one, although I think I might restart it soon again, or just spend time to delete like half the map. I am still undecided on which. In this one I started in the northern forest. I really really like it here and probably will always start again here in the future. I have over 300 hours in it right now, and the rest of the 150ish comes from playing with a very close friend I tried to get into the game (around 45 hours on their save) and then some people's regular or dedicated servers.
The first thing I saw when coming down from space was being greeted by alien fauna.
https://i.imgur.com/HzNAYPx.jpg One of the things I focused on this save was reconsidering my storage area to be both easy to travel to, and out of the way. So one of the first buildings I placed (and then later decorated some as I unlocked awesome shop things) was a storage area. It includes several floors, and it quite tall because I really liked the result of clipping containers through foundations. Later I changed the foundations to catwalks and I really like the result. Storage area album :
https://imgur.com/a/b8igkVJ The reinforced iron plate factory was one of the first ones I built and involved things like very tightly hidden belts and lifts and many floors. It is quite large as well compared to my other builds so far. And at one point had ramp foundations 4m to access each floor that were annoying to jump up. Those were later removed and a simple hyper tube from f1 goes all the way to the top. RIPS album :
https://imgur.com/a/VGtn8sx The next larger build I made is modular frames. Well besides rotors/stators which has been expanded so many times I don't think it is reasonable to show it since it doesn't resemble its original form at all anymore. Unlike how storage does... with some decorations. It is also the first time I used vehicles at all. It is to take them to where I was eventually making heavy modular frames (though the vehicle wasn't intended for that originally and only meant to bring back to storage... a very convenient thing). I believe it is 20/min in here right now. It has some more things in consideration like floor access that I learned to do better from RIPs and previous saves. Modular frames album :
https://imgur.com/a/hsu6Mcg At some point around this time I started making a huge sky road. It.. turned out very very eyesore. I want to delete it and rethink my transport. Album :
https://imgur.com/a/BAdaiGT An attempt to make compact build... featuring coal towers. Like my idea from the previous save with the refineries before I abandoned it. It turned out badly, but I am much much better at the game now I feel like and have a more in depth understanding of belts and pipes and building techniques.. so I want to come back and redo this as I envisioned it properly at some point as well as upgrade the miners. Album :
https://imgur.com/a/ucbBwYo HMF is the first time I tried to make a circular building, but I never got the production numbers I wanted. And didn't decorate it since I wanted another two or three of these circles with additional buildings nearby connected by sky bridges. Link :
https://i.imgur.com/UeRzYCm.png In there you will see another building that did not turn out how I had in my mind. We didn't have the corner pieces. I didn't want a giant triangle top. I thought it would be so cool to have it shaped like the other 3 sides on all 4 and a diagonal corner.. however the building pieces will not allow for this. The inverted triangles do not fit where they need to so I can't make it. (I hope you add them coffee stain). It contains some HMF component production. Album :
https://imgur.com/a/zmpXHYa Around this time I was able to have the opportunity help decorate someone's refineries and fuel generation. They were completely in the open and I closed them off while they worked on something else in their save. I really learned a lot about clipping stuff while doing so. Unfortunately I don't have very many images saved of this and everything is of WIP stuff and not the final result. Album of that work :
https://imgur.com/a/IpAndnw I also kind of messed around with packaged fuel for like 10 hours. I don't know why I had so much confusion doing this, but eventually I got it to work and it is still running with a sink even now over 100 hours minimum later. It is ugly though since I was testing stuff. Image :
https://i.imgur.com/BAnexWZ.jpg At this point in my save I really really needed to expand power, so I ran around the map looking at fuel locations until I found one that I really liked. It was in this mushroom crater area. However what I didn't know when I started it is that it is going to be reworked... and considering what they they did to spire coasts that is going to make any building there unable to work what what I imagined for it... so I abandoned it only partway complete and hooked up. Though I connected to main grid. It is quite large and was going to produce something like 70k power or 60k idk. I am so sad to abandon it though because I loved the thought of a giant middle building with lots of generators across the biome with pipes hidden under the ground. Album link here :
https://imgur.com/a/GhD6XzV So I ended up with some power so I went to work on aluminum (mainly batteries) stuff... which I ended up accidentally building in yet another map rework area. So that got abandoned too lol. Features some very closely placed foundations to avoid clipping into trees and branches and other parts of the geography. A very challenging place to build, but I imagined it to be soo cool looking to see an army of drones coming out of the forest.
https://imgur.com/a/BlIxNmm Of the parts of the battery production I finished I fully decorated and finished the silica I needed for it. This place is honestly my most favorite build of everything I made. I took so many lessons from previous designs when making it. Like considering how I will travel inside, how it looks from outside. The truck station unload/load issue with multiple stations. The transport of silica (once battery production was up and running) etc. The truck entrance was to take overflow elsewhere. The drones where going to transport silica to batteries but for now has a conveyor belt. The outside of it looks very interesting and structurally sound to me. Also it is avoiding the natural trees in very close ways so it looks like it has been built there for a while and trees grew around it. And it just barely avoids the toxic gases inside. Absolute favorite factory of mine! Link here!
https://imgur.com/a/x0aFE5C And then I still needed to eventually expand more fuel yet again, so I started working on this area which I think is safe from reworks? At least it better be LOL. The idea I had was hovering power generators with several towers. I am only using one oil node right now and I will NOT be building another 8 of these and everything else twice more to use the rest of the oil here. The towers themselves are too much work to hide pipework as best as you can to keep the hovering sci-fi feel I wanted. Very WIP to more finished stuff at the end of the album. However it is still my current project on my save so it isn't fully complete yet. Album link :
https://imgur.com/a/X4Lhqvd And finally my last project that I just finished a day or two ago (I needed a break from fuel piping on my save). The aluminum plant on a dedicated server I was invited to. It was really challenging to work with the resource nodes they already were extracting form. So I had to use some very far away ones. However It turned out nicely and I really played around with power switches a lot in here. Resulting in a modular power control of the factory outputs. Very happy with how it turned out, but the wiring was a pain to figure out the first time. The decoration is very open aired inspired. All together I think I spent around 66-95 hours building this, the bus, the train line, and supporting factories for it (silica, rubber, batteries, ai limiters, copper ingots). Album here :
https://imgur.com/a/FzAPfUc And now I am at 505 hours played on steam. So much time, but I still feel like I can change things. Lots of things I would like to try more of in the future. But I really like my progress so far. Maybe I write another update post again in the future.

2023.03.25 01:12 rbartlet Wyrmwood Prophecy Support
This is a long story. I am sharing this for anyone who is considering purchasing from Wyrmwood Gaming.
May last year, our family decided to convert our family room into a gaming room. After much deliberation, we settled on a Prophecy table as a centerpiece for the room. Time passed. We selected woods, fabrics, and other table customizations. In November last year, our table shipped. The story goes downhill from here.
The table was delivered November 30th, minus a bench. We had ordered two benches with the table: one of which had been misplaced during transport. It magically appeared four hours later, after being located in a nearby warehouse. Unfortunately, the table was damaged in several places. I would like to hope that the damage occurred whilst in transit, although this can cannot be proved.
One of the center panels of the table had several gouges in the wood, and one of the ends of the table had a scratch in the wood (this scratch looked like it occurred during transport). Immediately, I contacted Wyrmwood, and informed them of the damage. They promised swift resolution. Wyrmwood has a concierge for Prophecy tables, who took point on this.
Every week, I reached out to Wyrmwood to enquire about remediation. December passed. Nothing. January passed. Nothing. In February, after two months of no movement, a repair person of Wyrmwood's choice was found. A time was scheduled for repairs.
Repairs were made, the scratches are no longer visible... but... the table finish has proved challenging. The repair person has now visited five times. They have been unable to match the finish on the rest of the table. The Prophecy table has a low-gloss matt finish. As the scratches only appeared in a couple of areas, our table is now something of a Franken-table of finishes: none of which match unfortunately.
I have watched the repairperson work. They have now attempted refinishing portions of the table multiple times. I honestly believe that they are competent, and have done everything that can.
What is Wyrmwood's response to this? Well, their concierge escalated to their VP of Furniture (who also happens to be their Head of Executive Management (and their Head of Human Resources). I have received no response in weeks. I have emailed. I have called. It is a black hole. It feels like this falls under the category of "it is too hard to resolve", hence my communication attempts go to dev/null.
There more details to the story! Before escalating, the concierge offered one thousand dollars of store credit if I would accept the damage as is. I politely declined, which in turn triggered the escalation to the VP of Furniture. According to the concierge, "they really want to talk to me". This may well be the case, but I have yet to hear from them.
This is not my first interaction with Wyrmwood. In 2016, I purchased a deckbox from them, together with a hero vault. Since then, I backed their Sentinel Deckbox Kickstarter, then went on to purchase multiple purpleheart deckboxes, a gabon ebony deckbox, and several dice boxes, and sets of dice. In all of these other instances, I only once had an issue where I was sent a product made of the wrong wood, which was remedied within two weeks. Additionally, I leveraged the craftsman's promise twice, for repairs to deckboxes.
The interactions around the Prophecy table have me stumped. It is their premium product. The most expensive product they sell, by a large margin. Yet, 114 days since our Prophecy table was delivered, it remains in an unsatisfactory condition. The kicker: Wyrmwood seem highly disinterested in resolving the situation. Buyer beware!

2023.03.25 00:37 I_am_Andrew_Ryan OOP gets a situation escalated straight to the head of HR without asking
**I am NOT OP. Original post by
u/TheLightningCount1 in
/talesfromtechsupport mood spoilers:
He wins... kinda
Lets escalate directly to the head of HR. Or how I stopped being apathetic and actually gave a crap about my job. (For once.) Part 1 - Nov 16, 2017
Actors in this play are as follows. This happened yesterday by the way. Today's events will be posted tomorrow.
$HHR=Head of HR
$Me = ME
$HIT = Head of IT
$T = Tech
$U = User
I got an email this morning with a scathing report about one of my techs.
$HHR - I need to inform you of a situaiton I have been made aware of. It seems one of your techs massively violated the IT data policy and security policy last night. I have gone ahead and submitted the termination paperwork to your boss $HIT.
Please be aware that this kind of behavior will never be tolerated. I hope that I never have to remind you of this again.
Around this time one of the accounts team comes over and asks about this. I told them that it was not approved by me and to keep it quiet while I discuss it with $hit.
The discussion did not take long as the event in question was already flagged for defense. IE I personally flagged it because the tech told me it may come back to bit him in the ass.
I re-review the call logs and oh boy is it dumb. I will just skip to the part in question.
$U - Yes I need that mapped to the B drive (branch drive).
$T - I can do that for you, however you should know that this location is already mapped to the S drive for scanning.
$U - ...OK? I am not understanding what you mean.
$T - The drive you are requesting access to is already mapped to a different drive letter.
$U - No I need access to the B drive not the S drive. Talking to coworkers thinking she is out of earshot. Wow when did they hire idiots to work on the helpdesk? ... I know right. Its like we are the dumb ones or something.
Had to clean up the audio in free audio tool everyone uses first but I was able to get it by compressing it twice.
$T - OK I will just map the drive for you.
$U - You do know you are speaking to a member of management right?
$T - Mutes mic noise Lady I don't care. You are not my manager and are not involved in my management chain. Unmutes mic noise Yes mam I do understand that. I apologize if I have come across as terse. I have mapped the drive here.
$U - Wait...this is the same as the S drive.
$T - mutes mic again I just said that...you know what? unmutes mic Yes I had said that earlier that you already had the drive mapped.
$U - YOU CANT HAVE! ... You cant have 2 access points to the same data. This is a HUGE violation.
$T - Umm no it is not. Everyone who is on citrix has an "access point" to the same data.
$U - No they do not. No one has access to MY computer.
$T - Well mam we actually do cause citrix does not run on your computer. It runs off of a server here in our city. See watch this.
He placed a text file on her desktop named "test."
$U - YOU JUST ACCESSED MY SYSTEM!!! I did NOT authorize that. What is the name of your manager.
$T - I just sent you an email with the contact information for $Me and $HIT
$U - I am sorry but I have no choice now. I have to report this massive violation to your managers. hangs up
I emailed $HHR back with this lovely gem.
$ME - After reviewing the event in question, it has been determined that the fault lie 100 percent with the user here. Her clear lack of knowledge in regards to basic server technology led to her thinking she had her machine breached.
I have canceled the termination order on my end as well as the emergency maintenance ticket she put in to the orders team.
In the future all concerns about my team are to come through me. We have a process for terminating an employee, which you set up, that you violated. The employee in question did nothing wrong and was unjustly judged by people who have no understanding of basic computer technology.
Please do not violate the policy you set in place for terminating an employee in the future...I hope that I never have to remind you of this again.
I sent a copy of that to $hit the CIO and the EVPIT. (Or the executive vice president of IT and Technology)
About 2 hours later I get an email back from the EVPIT. He apologized for the way that the head of HR acted and promised me that the tech in question will not receive any punishment as he listened to the call himself.
Two hours later I am being told that my anual employee review is being pushed up to tomorrow by the head of HR.
Editor note: In the comments OOP adds some context that they work with confidential financial information
Lets escalate directly to the head of HR. Or how I stopped being apathetic and actually gave a crap about my job. (For once.) Finale - Nov 17, 2017
$ME = ME
$hit = Head of IT.
$HHR = Head of HR
$EVPIT = Executive Vice President of IT and Technology. (Yes… I know)
So yesterday was strange, to say the least. The meeting was scheduled for noon so the beginning of my day was pretty mundane. Handled a few issues with users who had purchased their own machines because “ours were not fast enough,” even though the ones they bought were supplied by us. But cest la vie.
At noon I walked into the conference room for the video review. $HIT was in there as well as the executive vice president of IT and technology. (yes I know) The conference started hilariously as the head of HR, or $HHR, could not get her video working.
I walked her through how to fix that as it was a simple error.
$ME – Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?
$HHR – Oh duh. Should have known it was something stupid like that.
We started the conference and HOOO BOOOY. She was gunning for me hard.
$HHR – So I have in front of me 19 complaints against you this year. Can you explain these?
$ME – That’s it?
$HHR - Clearly not expecting that. Uhh yes. How do you explain it?
$ME – Well as you well know, each complaint is different and most do not have merit.
$HHR – So you are saying these complaints were made…incorrectly?
$ME – Yes that is exactly what I am saying.
I pulled out the same folder she probably had.
$Me – On Feb 12th User complained that I refused his request.
$HHR – Good one to start with? Explain it.
$ME - user wanted me to put a folder on his desktop that would allow him to transfer items between his local desktop and citrix. This is not possible unless he works on the domain…which he does not. I offered him several alternative options but he refused each one. He only wanted the original option of a folder on his desktop.
$HHR – So this was impossible?
$ME – Technology wise of course it is possible. We could have set him up with an FTP option to direct into his session. But that would never EVER get the approval.
$HHR – Lets move on to the next one. Different user Claimed that you were rude to her on the phone and hung up on her.
$me – Lets play the call log.
The call log is me being professional while she politely berates me on the phone…until she cusses me out. I terminate the call and send it to HR.
$Me – That call is the reason why SHE is fired. Your predecessor said I handled it well.
$HHR – Ok lets move on to the lady who had to wait 4 extra days to get her laptop back from you.
$ME – Name?
$HHR - lady who yelled in my face said you helped her 3 days in a row and finally took an extra 4 days to get her laptop back to her.
$ME – You mean the lady who yelled in my face and got fired because of it? Yeah I remember her. I had to go to the hospital that Friday so none of my work got done.
$HHR – I see the note here. You thought you had a hernia but it turned out to be a UTI?
$ME – Thanks for repeating it here… Yes. Anyways the point is her laptop was finished within 2 hours of me returning to work. The 4 days she is talking about is because we had a 3 day weekend.
The meeting went on like this for well over 30 minutes as we ran through each complaint with only 1 that was legitimate. I misread a technical error and had to fix it 30 minutes later. Oh well. Then came the real kicker.
$HHR – Lets talk about the fire you started.
$ME – I STARTED!?
$HIT – HE STARTED!? (same time.)
$EVPIT – Wait what?
$HHR – Per your report. The fuse box was overloaded when the third rack of servers plugged in and started a fire inside the wall that ended up burning out most of the building.
$ME – Yes that does sound correct. What your report failed to mention on the report, which I have in front of me because I FUCKING sent it. (Yes I did say that.) The circuit breaker was not an actual circuit breaker. It was a bypass installed to bring the building up to code. The fuse box had cabinets built over it so that the owner could hide it. When too much was plugged into a mains line, which was rated to handle it, the fuse should have blown. But there was about 50 cents worth of pennies shoved in there.
$HHR – How was this missed.
$ME – I don’t know. I am not an electrician, I am not a state building inspector, I am not omniscient, and I am certainly not omnipotent. I went in to set up an office.
$HHR – You appear to have an excuse for everything.
$ME – Yes its called CYA. You literally have that on a poster in your office.
$HHR – Now lets talk about your language to me yesterday.
$ME – How about lets talk about your blatant disregard for the termination procedures you set in place. You created a paper snafu for my worker because you could not help yourself but to stick your nose where it does not belong. If you had followed procedure and not sent the termination paperwork through, he would have health insurance right now. Instead you decided to play tech and fired someone in the system. I spent 4 hours yesterday chasing paperwork and trying to keep this knowledge from him.
$HHR – I Do not appreciate your attitude.
$ME – And I do not appreciate you taking actions on your own. You may be HR but even you are not allowed to terminate employees without
$EVPIT – OK That is far enough you have made your point $me. Remember that $HHR holds your job in her hand.
$hit – Like a small bird.
$EVPIT – Thank you $hit. So you do need to show her some respect…that being said. $HHR? He is right. You violated company policy, you tried to terminate an employee when it was not called for, and you created a mountain out of a single email. (Turning to me) Do you want to keep your job?
$Me – Yes.
$EVPIT – Then never take a disrespectful tone or cuss at a member of the senior management again. I expect a written apology to her by the end of the day. No further action needs to be taken here. (Turning to the monitor that has $HHRs face on it) As for you.
$HHR – Yes?
$EVPIT – You will apologize to both him and the employee you tried to terminate by the end of the day yourself. While he was disrespectful, cussed, and generally made an ass of himself, he is not wrong. You did overreact and wrongfully terminate a good worker forcing $ME here into overdrive trying to stop it in its tracks. You could have solved this by going to $ME when you first heard about it. I heard the call log and read everything about this incident. Simply put the end user was an idiot and needs to trust the people she calls to fix her computer.
EVPIT stood up and gathered his things.
$EVPIT – Hopefully this is the last I hear of any animosity towards upper management, or animosity coming from upper management. Good day people.
EVPIT left and I went back to my desk apologizing for the attitude I took with the head of HR. At 4:55 PM the email came in from the head of HR apologizing for her role. I then had 5 minutes to explain to the tech what happened. He decided he owed me a lunch.
I miss the Wahoo Lady.
Reminder - I am not the original poster.
this user has a great backlog of stories, a lot of them related to tech, but almost always mainly concerning interesting characters. Including recounting the event of the fire, and if you go back far enough you start to see stories referencing the mentioned "Wahoo Lady" (Previous head of HR, who had a nickname for a certain registered trademark name of search engine and webmail host)
Side note, this story is obviously embellished and edited for the sake of the narrative, and I'm sure there's some editorializing in favor of OOP, but head of HR in this case is indefensible and why I found it particularly fitting this sub as it reminds me of similar stories here.

2023.03.24 23:36 Templar828 21+ [M4F] [Discord] LF Longterm RP Partner for OC Stories! Worldbuilding enthusiasts welcome.
Hello there!
I am a 29-year-old guy in the US East time zone who has been Roleplaying for quite a few years now and greatly enjoy creating a story with someone. My hope is to find someone who enjoys crafting a story just for the fun of it! Preferably someone who also doesn't mind a bit of OOC banter or chatting as I enjoy the penpal side of things. I find that being able to have some casual conversation with someone helps add to the longevity of a roleplay. You know that chemistry you can have in an RP where your partner writes out a reply and you find yourself surprised or busting a gut? Doesn't always happen, but it is nice if it does!
I will admit to having about average skill level when it comes to writing. I love worldbuilding and creating characters but still have a healthy amount of learning to do in order to improve myself. As for what kind of stores I like to RP, I am good for anything really. Fantasy, Sci Fi, and Apocalypse-style settings are all ones I am comfortable with. I'll post some examples of ideas I have been rolling in my head but I am open to try anything!
Prompt Ideas
One idea could be a novice necromancer being shown the errors of his ways by a zealous warrior priestess. In reality the necromancer is not all that much of a bother to the village located near him, he is just self-centered and wishes to be left alone. Fate however, has seen fit to intervene. The cleric could be a veteran member of the Order, long experienced in hunting down the enemies of her Goddess and bringing them to justice. Upon confronting the necromancer and finding him to be relatively harmless and benign, she ends up deciding that penance via service is more suitable. How would he serve? Why, by assisting her on her quests of course. Or maybe the holy warrior is newly minted and brimming with righteous enthusiasm to reform all evil-doers, and takes him into her custody to transport him back to a temple.
Or a story about a prince and one of his personal guard. Resigned to the fate of sacrificing any chance at love for the political well-being of his kingdom, he is only able to reveal his sorrow when he thinks no one is watching. However, one of his protectors notices. Is the kingdom falling and the guard has to whisk him away? Does she kidnap the princeling to protect him from his own family and fate, only to take him for herself? Maybe she is appreciative of the service he provides to his people, and so she decides to take charge and provide the occasional comfort she could, only for things to spiral out of control into a deeper relationship.
Another idea is about a human living in a post-apocalyptic world encountering a creature or entity that needs humanity to survive. She could be a vampire or some eldritch being that feeds on human blood, and so needs to help keep her food source alive. Something that would be easy if he wasn't so damn crafty in his efforts to elude her.
If you notice a bit of a common theme with these, then imaginary cookie for you! I do enjoy my strong and dangerous ladies though I am more than willing to play out any kind of roles or relationship, these are just a few ideas rolling around in my head at the moment and they are intentionally left a bit open-ended. After all, I would very much like to get my partners input to come up with something we would both enjoy! Now for the disclaimer portion of this post!

I am open to smut being included in the RPs and just find that things go smoother when the age gaps are closer.
- Real life comes first.
I am a working professional with a job and sometimes life will take priority. However, I will always communicate when things get busy or in the way, you will never get radio silence for days on end unless I get hit by a bus or something. Which introduces my next point!
- Willing to communicate.
Whether you would like to take a break or are just having some writers block, a heads up would be appreciated! Please don't disappear for a month and expect to pick right back up. I tend to give a notice if I am not going to be able to reply for a day+ but don't expect or demand that of others.
- OC characters preferred to using established ones
I generally prefer to create an original story vs using established plotlines or characters. Using established settings to then create our own characters, or combining elements from multiple settings is just fine!
- 3rd person writing perspective
This is a hard requirement as I struggle with first person POV posting. Habits are hard to break!
*Please contribute to plot development
Ideally replies are meaty enough to allow the scene to go on without relying primarily on one person to carry the weight of making the plot move forward. Lengthwise I tend to write at least three paragraphs for my replies, but it depends on the situation of the RP. Conversation heavy portions? I will opt for shorter replies. A combat scene? Might as well make yourself your beverage of choice, I tend to go overboard.
Final Note
Okay, so those are now out of the way! Really I am quite relaxed when it comes to RP, just want to find someone that enjoys creating a story as much as I do and doesn't mind bouncing around ideas for the story or asking for input on a few character ideas I have. If you have a question about anything, please ask! I am always happy to answer and will never fault anyone for wanting to clear up any uncertainty.
If this post interests you please feel free to shoot me a DM.I am terrible at checking Reddit Chat I look forward to creating something with you!

Residential Contracting 101
With over 20 years of building experience, I would like to share with you my insights in navigating becoming a successful contractor. With many different avenues of the building world its key to understand what problems will arise on any given day. A man once told a saying that stuck-the 6 p’s in life- Piss Poor Preparation leads to Piss Poor Performance. Preparation builds everything in construction, without preparation the jobsite will not run correctly. The best advice I was ever given was to learn a little about every trade giving you the ability to understand trade lingo and secrets. An example would be painters use the terminology flash; this means when the sub structure bleads through the paint. Subcontractors will give the best pricing if they respect your knowledge of the industry. If the subcontractor feels they will have to hold your hand through the job they will charge an extra fee…i.e. I call it the aggravation fee. In this blog I will explain the key elements in finding success in all aspects of the industry. Contracting is a physically and emotionally demanding job which requires planning and foresight to complete projects on time within budget. Picking your customer is just as important as picking your employees or subcontractors. I have worked for some of the most demanding customers leading me to question at the end if the job was even worth it. Sleepless nights, constant changes, lack of payment, lawsuit threats, adding work that was in the contract are just a few things you could face with a tough customer. With so many moving parts at all times it is critical to be able to adapt to changes within a short time frame. Materials will come in damaged, subcontractors will be late, employees will get sick, but the deadline you set does not change. The stress can be overwhelming at times keeping your mind in a good place is key to navigating all that is thrown at you. Choosing your client picking the right jobs-Keep these questions in mind The first question to be asked is what the time frame is to start the job to see if it fits within the timeframe for your business. If the time frame doesn’t work then move on from the project or let them know when you would be available to start. If the client really wants to use, they will wait until you are available. Taking on too much work will only lead to problems. Construction is a serviced based business, staying on top of the project and client will eliminate an unhappy customer and construction issues that will be over seen. With online presence if details are missed and customer service lacks it will only be a matter of time the phone will not ring. The second question to be asked to the client is do they have a budget in mind for the project. If they answer yes this is good, follow through with what the budget is. If the budget seems low let them know, this will eliminate a tire kicker, educate them on what the price range could be. If the budget seems reasonable then continue the discussion to the next question. If they answer no let them know that you can give them an estimate to see if the project is feasible with their finical capabilities. Taking on a job that is not correctly budgeted will lead to an unsatisfied customer due to non-transparency of the construction cost. The third question to be asked is anyone else bidding on the job, if the answer is yes, understand you might just be number check for the contractor doing the job. Dig a little deeper and find out how many numbers they are getting and why. If your business model is to be competitive be completely transparent with customer, this will gain trust with them. Let them know you get what you pay for and if you they choose the lowest bid it could lead into lack of quality of work.
The fourth question I will ask is there any specific subcontractors they wanted to use. If the answer is yes then I would explain to them you only use the subcontractors you have a working relationship with. Otherwise, this could backfire as the subcontractor might not show, do subpar work, talk behind your back to the homeowner. In my experience I would stay away from using any homeowner to alleviate problems down the road. A quick conversation now can save headaches down the road. The fifth question I will ask are planning on getting the job permitted, this needs to be known it takes more time for the permitting process. Plans will have to drawn submitted and approved to the city before work can commence. The sixth question I will ask if a residential remodel is are you going to be living through the remodel if yes understand this will take more time to navigate the project due to answering questions and cleaning the house on a daily occurrence. I would recommend seeing if the customer would be willing to move into an Airbnb or friends for at least the demo portion of the project. If they do plan on living through the remodel add a couple hours a day to accommodate the extra time that will be required. The seventh question I would ask in a residential remodel is how old the house is to see if there is asbestos that would need to removed by a proper company. A home built before 1979 will most likely have some asbestos in the house, use a licensed company with proper insurance to dispose of the materials. If everything looks good to this point find out a little more about the client personality. If the client seems reasonable, I would bid the job. Unreasonable people can cause you more stress than its worth. These are some red flags I would look out for. Some jobs are not worth the money. Very demanding in the way you are going to perform your job- I.e., tell you how you are going to do your job- You’re the professional not them! Give you a hard time about your price- haggle with price you estimated- The price is the price! If they are a family with little money and you want to help them out is one thing, if they are trying to beat you down is another. Mention they have a lawyer-there is no need for them to bring up that they have a lawyer - Run for the hills as if the job goes south, you will be the one losing out! Tell you what the payment terms are. It’s your business you get paid how it works for your company. If you want to get paid every Friday, put it into your contract-If the clients do not agree move on it will save you frustrations If they talk bad about the last contractor, chances are they will talk bad about you. There is a reason why the contractor does not work for them anymore, unless he did subpar work this a red flag Clients are using an interior decorator that will purchasing all of the materials- The materials could be ordered incorrectly by the interior designer your company will not make the mark-up it deserves. Interior decorators usually add time to the job as well as act like your boss. Charging a little extra for the time and stress that it will entail is only fair. Clients want to purchase the materials- You are using your knowledge to buy the correct materials-The mark up on the materials keeps the doors open working for wages only pays the bills The husband and wife do not get along-You will become the mediator between the couple it will lead to taking sides a losing proposition- A drama free work place is always best! Dangling carrot-if you do this job the next one will be better-Only look at what there offering at the present moment, if its not a good fit do not take the job for a job down the road…Its not worth chasing a job that might not happen! The Art of the Sale First things first selling your company is all about presentation. In meeting your clients for the first time show up with a collared golf shirt tucked in, belt, nice jeans, and newer shoes. Have a truck that a clean, no dents scratches, preferably washed the day you are going into your meeting. Have a leather note pad that is clean no dirt or paint visible. Show up 5 minutes early, if you’re running a little late shoot them a text to let them know. Treat the situation as if were going on a first date, best foot forward. As you introduce yourself give them a warm greeting, letting them know you are very interested in the work. Find out a little about them, hobbies, where they lived, etc etc. You are going to be working with them on a daily basis its nice to know what makes them tick. Having a good working relationship from the start is key forming a solid relationship. As the conversation progresses find out who wears the pants in the family…ie who’s the final decision maker. If its fits the wife, chances it is…..then kindly let the husband know happy wife happy life when their in a stall mate on an issue. As your looking at the project throw in some suggestions of what you think would look good from past experiences, this will get their attention that you have knowledge and want what’s best for them. If you see ways to save them money in their project let them know, money is a large point of the sale keep that in mind. Mention that you’re not the least expensive contractor but you’re not the most expensive either. Your customer satisfaction is your number one goal which leads to more time spent on keeping them happy. One happy customer will lead to another, one unsatisfied customer leads to work in the future. Bring up the fact the finishing the job on time is key goal to your business, many contractors run several jobs at once causing the jobs to be finished way behind schedule. You must stand out as having integrity, good morals, and the ability to problem solve to get the job. The clients will be testing you to see if you’re a good fit as well. Keep in mind as you take your notes that you must not forget anything they mention as it will come back before the job is completed…i.e. we mentioned that to you before we started the job! Take pictures of the proposed area for work, that way you can use it to better right your estimate. Let them know you will give them a detailed outline of when the job will be completed letting them see how long each phase will take and correlate it with your payment schedule. Before you leave their house let them know when the estimate will be sent to them. MAKE SURE YOU HIT THAT DEADLINE! Once you sent the email over with estimate make sure you get confirmation that they received it. Wait at least 2 days before checking with them, hopefully they contact you first! If they want negotiate the price, let them know that it is the best price that you can manage, its not worth losing money before you start. I closed 80% of the work I estimated by being very transparent and friendly. If you come off with an attitude charge double what the going rates are you might only land 1 out of 10 jobs as well as getting the reputation of being expensive. Bidding the job Looking up industry standards on pricing is what I would go buy for pricing. If you google the coat of any installation there will be a cost range for everything. Looking at the cost ranging from high to low I would tend to be in the middle. Some items might be low on the internet if this is the case use your best judgment not to lose money. Closing sales is key to success and keep the doors open for business. Being in the middle on pricing is key as most customers shy away from contractors that are extremely low or high on the price range. I tend not bid out hourly as wages do not pay for retirement. Bidding is better as customers no the exact price of the cost of construction. It also keeps the job moving quicker as time and material contractors take longer to complete projects…Thus costing the client more money and valuable time they could spend in their house. Using a Contract Using a detailed estimate tied to a contract covers your butt in 99% of the time. Having a piece of mind that every aspect of the job is covered in the estimate and contract protects both your company and the client. Key terms to include in your estimate/contract are. Have a schedule on excel showing the start dates and dates of each trade this will show the customer you are organized with time lines. If not written in the detailed in the estimate the item is excluded- This ensures if its not written down its not included. TBD- To be Determined- A phrase on a line item that has yet to had final decision of products or service needed. -The pricing will follow the decisions to be finalized Give out what your written warranty will be for parts and labor this changes state to state. If the homeowner provides the product than no warranty will be given on that particular item. In the contract have a start date and end date with the verbiage subject to change due to weather, product delivery, change orders Have a progress payment schedule to ensure the client understands when funding will be expected-Including if not payment is rendered service to the project will stop. Have written terms of how change orders will be charged-cost plus 20% or a set fee Make sure in your contract that arbitration is required versus going to court- This will save lawyer fees and going to court Many contracts can be found online and each state requires different contracts
Finding leads Finding leads is easy with the right network of people. I personally do not find working for friends or family members a good fit. Relationships get strained when money is involved, causing undue stress for both parties. I have listed a couple of ways to build a network or find work using the internet. Get in contact with realtor’s- Realtors have a big client base of homeowners who need work done Contact local Architects to see if they are working with any general contractors Leave some business cards at your local materials suppliers-Doowindow/lumber-many times clients will ask salesman for a referral. Join a business networking group- BNI is one of many Join a internet website lead generation company- Houzz, Angie’s List, Home Advisor, thumbtack, Yelp run an ad on craigslist Use a marketing company to market your website-This could become costly with little results Create a Facebook business page Create a Yelp business page
Building your subcontractor base Having 2 subcontractors for every trade, gives you the flexibility of completing jobs on time if the one the subcontractors is too busy at the time you need their service. Your subcontractors are the face of your business, choose owner run companies that are professional. Check to make sure there license are up to date..ie workman’s comp, liability insurance, state license. Choosing subcontractors with lettered vans, logoed t-shirts is s key to looking professional in the clients’ eyes. In the past I have gotten a lot of subcontractors for material supply shops, stopping by jobsites, researching the internet using Yelp, Home Advisor, etc etc. Once you get one good subcontractor ask them if they know any other trades they would recommend. One good subcontractor leads to another in most cases. The key to having a good group of subcontractors is to let them know that you are there to get help them get the job done. They do work for you but without them you are nothing…keep that in mind! Make them aware a clean jobsite is required at the end of everyday to ensure the proper safety for all parties including theirs! Over the years I have referred a lot of companies work when there is only 1 trade needed. Referring work to subcontractors is a good way to get top priority when you have work that needs to be completed ASAP. Timing is everything in times of emergency having a good group of subcontractors will make your business run smoothly. Pay your subcontractors immediately after performing work, this will make them feel appreciated! A happy subcontractor is one that will gladly go the extra mile for you knowing that there not just a number to your business! Buying lunch once a week for the jobsite is always a good token of appreciation!
Supervising In supervising any jobsite its key to monitor everything from materials on hand, weather, vehicle parking (if applicable), jobsite safety, and subcontractors’ workmanship. If you hired a professional there should be little supervision in the work being performed, on rare occasions a new hire might need some mentoring to get the results completed correctly. If you see a problem with there work address it with the worker directly, no need to call his boss…. building repour with the worker letting him know you got his back goes miles down the road! Checking in on the job first in the morning to answer any questions or changes that need to be conveyed and once in the afternoon to make sure all work be completed is done per construction industry standards. A job that is run blindly will have many more issues than one that is watched over. I have seen many jobs with no site supervision, leading to subpar quality work as well as safety hazards. Its better to be like an eagle than cluck like a turkey!
Working with the City/Inspectors On permitted jobs the city and site inspector will be a large part of how smoothly the job runs. Each phase of construction has an inspection allowing for the project to continue. Make sure your subcontractors are aware that the project is inspected before starting the job. The best way to stay on his good side is to provide a clean jobsite and having the job built to the highest standards possible. When having the site inspected be courteous to the inspector asking any questions or concerns you have with the work during the job. Being completely transparent will save you aggravation of problems down the road. The more he trust you the better if you seem sneaky or rude he will make your life a living nightmare! Many inspectors will have an attitude towards you….I suggest keeping quiet and doing what ever he wants….he’s the boss no need to get in a pissing match you will not win at. How to deal with irate customer Stay calm during any argument with an irate customer. Never raise your voice or show that you are bothered by their disgruntled behavior. If the customer is trying to get more from you than agreed upon stand your ground. Worst case scenario is you walk from the job, which in the long run be more of a loss for the client. I have only run into a couple of these clients; they are unreasonable and not worth losing sleep over a few dollars. Its best to terminate the relationship as it would be my best guess that a referral from this customer would not be one you wanted anyway. If you feel it was just a miscommunication on your end, take reasonability and remedy the problem. Taking accountability for your mistake will go a far way in their eyes and on future issues that arise. Prepping the homeowner pre-construction Before starting the job, it very important to give the homeowners a warning of what will happen during the construction process.
- All furniture in the proposed working area must be moved- I would recommend having the clients take care of this to limit the risk of damage to their belongings.
- There will be dust that will be in the house up to 3 months after construction-I would recommend hiring a construction cleaning company at the end of the job even so after it is cleaned dust will be present months after words.
- There will be conflicts between you in the homeowner at some course of the job. - You will do your best to eliminate them as quickly as they arise-i.e. material damages, miscommunication, job delays
- All decisions on materials must be made before the start of the job- this will eliminate job stoppage due to materials not being on site.
- All materials will be on site before commencement of job-
- Payment structures must be made per contract otherwise job will stop until payment rendered
- Cars are to be moved out of the driveway- Ensures ease of loading and unloading of materials/tools
- Give the specific hours that workers will be present- i.e. 7-3:30
- Determine what areas are allowed to be used as staging for tools/materials
- If animals are present in the home that they put outside or in a room during the day
- All valuables in the house are locked in safe
- Ask if using client’s household bathroom is okay or to bring in Porter Potty
- Being transparent as possible is key to keeping a great relationship with your client!
During Construction During construction it is key to take detailed photos to eliminate any damages that were not caused by the construction process. I would also make a video to ensure all areas are included. All subcontractors should also take progress pictures to ensure if problems arise in the future, they will not be responsible for any work that they did not perform. Keep an on-going log of progress to the homeowners and share the pictures for there records. This will keep homeowners excited of the progress being made. When the house is gutted to the studs it is important to have construction photos showing where all utilities are run in the walls or sub floor. If there is a problem in the future there will photos showing all utility locations. Protect all flooring with plywood or floor protective. I also like to protect front door and tarp all areas where subcontractors are to be working. Make sure to cover any chandeliers/furniture/doorways with plastic to eliminate dust. Ask the homeowners if they have any concerns that they could think of. We’re all human and possibly a detail was missed! Post Construction Phase If the project went smoothly appreciation should be shown to the customer. Find out if the husband likes a particular type of liquor. Bring the wife a bouquet of flowers. Send a Christmas card to the family letting how much you appreciated the work. You know you have done a good job if they tell you they will refer you to their friends. The best compliment you could receive is a good referral. In Summary Try to find a knitch in the market, I found kitchens to be a great remodel projects. Bathrooms are tough as they are small, expensive with little profit margin with every trade involved. Windows/doors are also another great knitch as they can be installed quickly. There are so many different remodeling items that can be stream lined to make the selling installing process flawless. Once the core group subcontractors are in place the job almost runs itself. Every day is a learning experience with new materials or methods in construction. Keeping up with codes, materials, fluctuating labor and material cost is a job within itself. Anyone can be a contractor with the right mindset.

2023.03.24 23:20 Chance_Fly_4147 Need Advice Please- Unsure if employer violated any of my rights or laws?
(I am located in New Jersey) Please offer any advice or advisement- this has really bothered me and stressed out. I cant figure out if my employer is in the wrong here as I have been getting a bit confused due to the complexity of employment/labor laws, lol. I also don’t want to look like an idiot going to my boss if they were truly not in the wrong.
I was hired as a salaried employee under a year ago so I am still fairly new and inexperienced. My manager (who is now terminated due to creating disasters) didn’t seem to like me much, and had actually thrown me under the bus and lied for arguably no reason.
This occurred my last day of work before going on a short leave to have a surgery.
I was still on my probationary period when I had to have surgery and recover as well.
It was a week or less than a week until I returned back to work. The day of my return to work from surgery I am pulled into my managers office. first thing in the morning, I am told: -I am now switched from salary to hourly -I now have to clock in and out -I am not aloud to answer emails when I am not at work (I was free to do this prior).
Id like to mention my Manager did not document our conversation and I did not sign anything. More importantly, there is a progressive discipline policy in the employee handbook they claim to follow. Pretty sure demotion that early on is for sure not the first step in the progressive disciplinary process.
Fast forward, I am have been doing the work of a generalist and not a specialist since day 1 essentially. I do a bit of everything and there is not a single HR function my tasks and duties focus on/ specialize in. My colleague and Ipoked at/compared job descriptions of generalists and it’s basically verbatim.
I am also the only HR professional out of the whole department who is clocking in and out AND hourly. Everyone else is salary and do not have to document their time.
Make it worse, my colleagues have employer agreements they had signed and they can access and look at… I dont. I have quadruple checked.
Not to mention, my pay is off naturally due to the clocking in/out. Similarly, I didn’t notice for a while that my employer did not pay money owed from previous times I should’ve stayed clocked in a full 8 hours on the one day out of the week we close an hour early.
In other words my work week was only 39 hours long not 40 when I had began clocking in and out and that wasn’t compensating me correctly per what I had originally agreed to.
One day long after this change/switch had taken affect I had been approached by management and was told to always stay clocked in the extra hour on the one day we leave an hour early as a “bonus”.
Manager who handles payroll said I was “skimping” myself when they had reminded me to stay clocked in that extra hour. I never received additional money in paychecks to come after.
Job duties and responsibilities never changed after being demoted to hourly- they actually increased and became more complicated and held more responsibility.
Now upon learning coworkers within my department have and can access their signed agreements (but I have no record of one to begin with) I am very angry and it adds insult to injury knowing im doing the work of an HR generalist when my title does not say that nor was it agreed upon.
What should I think or do? I am doubting myself as I don’t know any better and don’t feel confident in judging if this is or is not a serious issue.

2023.03.24 23:20 jkwlikestowrite Abinmo & David [1323 Words] (SciFi, alien abduction, unlikely friendship)
Abinmo & David Abinmo had just finished his final probing of his human subject. The machinery of the Human Analysis 5000™️ (New Millennium Edition) sighed as the various pneumatic tubes relieved their pressure and pulled out the ends of each probe from every opening larger than a space quarter of the human's flesh. A simple bag and tag operation, nothing too fancy. But over all of the humans he had picked up over the Earth decades this one seemed to be the easiest to work with. The human, he called himself Dave, had been so gung-ho about being abducted that he went along with practically everything Abinmo had thrown at him, including the Dream Sequencer that probed the inner workings of each human's minds and usually left them with the side effect of horrible nightmares and hallucinations for years to come that the humans had begun to call "sleep paralysis." Which honestly, sounded horrible, not the nightmares but the sleeping. Out of all of the millions of species in the galaxy, only those on Earth had the maladaption of going unconscious for a third of their planet's rotational period. Abinmo shivered at the thought of losing consciousness and hallucinating for hours on end, only to regain consciousness and carry on like nothing strange happened. Earthlings were weird. At least their sleep patterns made it easy to capture and release.
"Analysis complete," Abinmo said in English, the language of Earth that David spoke.
"Whoo, that was something," David said. Unlike other humans he had studied in the past David didn't look the least bit traumatized from the probing, Abinmo wondered if he had misremembered the body language charts. He did a quick double take, pulling up a chart to see what expression matched David's. Sure enough, there was no expression of terror or discomfort on David's face, the closest expression Abinmo found in the charts that matched his subject was that of relaxation or relief. An expression that Abinmo had little familiarity with. "So what's next?" David asked.
Abinmo had picked David up from a less populated region of a nation called America, a classic capture and release area on Earth. David lived in one of those flimsy box shaped buildings called trailers, which were also a classic amongst his fellow researchers, mostly due to their structures being weak enough to penetrate with their transporter. There had been talks about going more urban with future capture and release projects, but given the human's high level of aggression, there was push back to keep it rural, even though Abinmo had gotten rather bored of the whole rural America samples. He wanted something more, the spark he had felt seventy Earth decades ago when he had first joined the project had long faded away leaving him to just another monotonous tasks within the cog of of the universal machine of academia.
"We must send you home, David." Abinmo said in a flat voice. Of course all of his human vocal imitations had always been flat, unlike most of his colleagues he just could never get the inflictions down to sound like them. One of the many ways Abinmo had become an embarrassment to the program.
"Home, I can't go home! I ain't got shit there, David said," his expression now changing to that of disgust. "You aren't gonna erase my memories either too? Please let me keep this, I need this." If Abinmo had the mental capacity to read a human's expression and feel empathy he probably would, but since their spices had evolved so differently (excrements and odors had become the primary body language of his kind) he felt nothing towards David. "Just keep as like your pet or something, please? I got too many problems on Earth, compared to what you just did just living down there is hell."
"Come with me," Abinmo said leaving the room. "The transporter is set to wipe your memories of your time here on the moment of departure." David followed, sulking, and making sure to not trip on any sort or excrement that Abinmo's body left on the path. Humans were so weird about that. Abinmo knew it was a cultural thing, but to his species to not slather one self in another other's discarded slime from their soft slithering bodies was a sign of respect. For some reason the humans' instincts to dodge the slime had always bothered him.
They arrived in the transporter bay, Abinmo used his middle appendage to point to where David were to go next. It was petty, he knew, to use a middle appendage in such a manner, especially since none of the humans realized just how insulting that gesture was to another of his kind, but he had developed a habit of it after so many decades of the humans not embracing his slime. Nobody embraced his slime in decades, not even of his own kind. And that's when David tumbled.
The human tripped and fell face first into the last part of Abinmo's slime trail. David struggled to stand up. The way his small bony body wobbled and trembled in the puddle of Abinmo's excrement as he got to his feet amused Abinmo. When David finally got to his feet, arms outstretched and trembling, Abinmo almost felt a sense of gratitude. Before him a human for his first time in seven decades wore the translucent gold flaked mucus of Abinmo. It didn't look half bad on a human either. Abinmo felt bad about sending David home, but David still grumbling walked over to the transporter, keeping his center of mass above the flats of his feet as he struggled to maintain his balance to the transporter. Once he got his footing on the small circular platform it lit up.
"Please don't send me home, please," David said. His face displayed the oh so familiar look of trauma that Abinmo had seen on so many humans before, and for the first time ever, Abinmo felt sorry for a human.
"That's the rules," Abinmo said slithering to the console. He began fiddling with the transporter controls. Levers and knobs covered in a bright white excrement proofing, electronics had been a tricky thing for his spices to get right. He made sure to double check the locations to make sure to send David back home to his bed. He wasn't going to send him five miles down the street with no clothes on, a mistake Abinmo had made once before three decades ago and never lived it down. Then an idea struck him. He began mindlessly moving the levers and knobs with his many limbs, pretending to look occupied to his captive. Excrement began coating the protective layer, seeping between the gaps and into the electronics themselves when the lights on the panel began to fade. When the lights were nothing more than little dark dimples upon the surface Abinmo hit the transport button, the machine whirled and then died. David stood at the transporter, still covered in Abinmo's shimmering goo, his eyes wide.
"Wh-what happened?" David asked.
"Huh, it looks like we're having technical difficulties," Abinmo said.
"Does this mean I can stay?"
"For now," Abinmo's pours shot out damp air to show his friendly side. He hadn't done that gesture in forever and never to a human.
"Well that's just unfortunate," David said with a hint of a smile.
"Very," Abinmo said. "How about you stay for a little while?"
"I would like that very much," David said stepping off the platform, watching his step. "Do you have a towel by any chance?"
"My spices has no such concept," Abinmo answered.
"Well that's just a shame."
"Yes, quite a shame, quite a shame," Abinmo wobbled his appendages in agreement.
"So what now?"
"Now we become friends," Abinmo began slithering to the door, "here follow me."
David did as he said following right behind him. For the first time in decades, Abinmo enjoyed his work.
