No experience necessary for the laborer custodial or maintenance mechanic positions. It helps on the interview but you can surely think of maintenance related experience to relay for an interview. Based on fixing things around your house, the car etc. Always mention working safely.

Pro tip: You can apply for any job that has an exam opening and the test is administered local to yourself. Make sure you're serious and score decently; you can turn down the job offer. Keep a physical copy of your exam score, I believe they are good for two years.
The reason is: These job postings can be posted externally at capacity for testing, meaning they will not allow you to take the exam if they have enough qualified applicants. However, if you have a test score on the books, you are a qualified applicant.

Explanation of MVO/TTO to save time:
MVO= CDL B Can only drive box trucks on public roads, can drive anything for moves on postal property.
TTO= CDL A Can drive anything.

USPS provides the training. (Maintenance jobs at least. TTO and management...GOOD LUCK)

You don't have to be crazy to work here. We'll train you. Everything but proper email usage.

2023.03.21 16:00 tersorium 70-year-old writer is glad he was heavily influenced by Walden

Commentary: Life’s Narrative Pays Homage to Thoreau
link to original publication
As I enter my 70s, I realize that in some deeply immersive sense I was captured by Henry David Thoreau.
When I read “Walden” for the first time as a high school student, I understood that Thoreau’s idealizing of isolation in nature was the perfect solution to my incredibly rudimentary social skills, particularly with girls. If I lived in a cabin by myself, I wouldn’t have to socialize much at all.
Fortunately, in college, I developed skills in dealing with women and that led me to a number of rewarding relationships, though spending time in the natural world remained a pervasive and passionate escape.
Thoreau writes in his chapter titled “Solitude”: “I find it wholesome to be alone the greater part of the time. To be in company, even with the best, is soon wearisome and dissipating. I love to be alone. I never found the companion that was as companionable as solitude.”
For the next 20 years I spent as much time as possible in the outdoors, exploring especially the National Parks in the United States and Canada. However, my dream of an isolated cabin never left.
When I finished my doctoral work at 35 and took an assistant professor’s position at Radford University, I now felt financially comfortable to begin my search for land where I could really begin my Thoreauvian quest.
I drove all over Montgomery, Giles, Floyd, Craig and Pulaski, exploring dozens of potential sites, and after years of searching I finally settled on 140 acres in Reese Hollow. I lived in a teepee for parts of an entire year and that convinced me that a cabin would be the perfect next step.
I hired Richard, a carpenter friend, and working as his assistant, in two months my 16-by-20-foot cabin was complete, without running water and with a self-dug outhouse. For most people such a dwelling would have been a nightmare but for me it was living the American Dream.
For the next eight years, I spent most mornings out hiking the Pedlar Hills or fishing the North Fork of the Roanoke River. So many wildflowers came under my inspection, including coltsfoot, spring beauty, bloodroot and wood anemone. Poplars, boxwoods, sugar maples, red and white oaks and many more filled my property. Wood thrushes, scarlet tanagers and white-eyed vireos, among others, sang to me.
Perhaps the most important thing I did was something I think Thoreau would have heartily approved. I put 135 of my 140 acres in a Forever Wild conservation easement. The process was a struggle until a botanist found the federally endangered smooth coneflower on the property.
Toward the end of my stay, I married and my wife and I contracted to have a log home built near the cabin. After a half-dozen years my wife left, but I stayed in the hollow for another seven years, vowing to live there at least till 70. That goal was interrupted by kidney lupus, and at 65 I found myself living in an apartment in Blacksburg. I was still in touch with nature, kayaking the New, hiking the Cascades, following the spring flush of flowers in Wildwood Park, fishing Big Walker, but all traces of my Thoreauvian adventure were gone.
Ben Okri, a Nigerian storyteller, writes: “If we change the stories we live by, quite possibly we change our lives.” I was so lucky to have found my story so early with no need to change anything about it.

2023.03.21 14:11 QuettleQuornQuendra I depended on Clonazepam for a decade, leading to full blown addiction. I recovered fully using the Ashton Method.

This title reads like clickbait, or a phony testimonial, but I am just a person who's come here over the years to find community as I navigate diagnoses of mental health and neurodivergence. I have been deep in the alcohol use subs lately, but I wanted to pop over here to share my experience with benzo addiction and recovery. In fact, it was my successful taper off benzo's, over the past year, after ~12 years of daily use and a raging addiction, that prompted me to consider that maybe I actually I do have the strength and the tools to address my problematic relationship with alcohol as well. That is journey I have just embarked on just recently but with encouraging early progress. I wouldn't have even begun if it weren't for my experience beating benzo's.
I want to be the rare person who logs returns to a forum/support group to share a success story. We most seek support when we are struggling deeply-- as we should-- but that leaves our collective successes greatly underrepresented, an imbalance which can make recovery feel all but impossible. I'm here to remind you that it isn't. Recovery from benzo's Absolutely. Is. Possible. In fact, with the right tools, you stand a very excellent change of recovery. Truly, I did not believe these words myself even one year ago, but now I want to shout it from the rooftops: You can do this. There are tools to help you. It's called the Ashton Method; It works, and it's easy. There is hope. A lot of hope. I promise.
A year ago I thought I was doomed to a life forever in service of clonazepam-- obtaining it, taking it, withdrawing from it-- if not an untimely death. I'd been prescribed clonazepam for anxiety attacks since 2011, with daily use since soon after that. I relied on my own prescribed pills and never took more than I felt sufficiently relieved my anxiety. It worked like a charm-- until it didn't. Rebound symptoms between doses eventually led me to take the occasional extra tablet until I was regularly taking more than my prescription supplied, gradually running out earlier and earlier each month. Withdrawals before my next refill grew worse and landed me in the ER more times than I can count. Once I even went by ambulance, my EKG showing a worrisome heart arrhythmia. My boyfriend started lending me doses lorazepam when I was having a particularly hard time; Before long, I started asking for them, then sneaking them. I resorted to taking shots of tequila when my prescription ran out, leading to a further compounding of problems. I'd been a "responsible" benzo- user for years until suddenly I found myself, to summarize, in a bad, bad place.
I don't remember when or where I first learned about the Ashton Method. I had read that people often used diazepam (valium) to taper off of benzodiazepine drugs; I may have even heard the method's name. I'd considered asking my psychiatrist about a longer-acting medication, but the idea of tapering off benzo's remained antithetical to me, a still more terrifying prospect than the imminent withdrawals awaiting at the bottom of my Rx bottle. My next refill would bring incredible relief, after all. I kept my doctor in the dark, lurking on message boards in shame and terror. The cycle continued in a downward spiral for a long time.
I vividly remember the day things changed. I came across, in the NY Times, the 2020 obituary of the woman whose life's work would later save me. I always enjoyed reading the science sections, especially accounts of the groundbreaking female scientists whose work remained previously under-recognized. British psychopharmacologist Dr. Heather Ashthon was a truly remarkable woman who dedicated her career to helping benzo-dependent patients, but it wasn't an earth-shattering obituary that struck me. For whatever fate or reason, i followed a hyperlink within the article, which linked not to another news story or research foundation, but directly to the primary, foremost published work of Dr. Ashton, "Benzodiazepines: How they Work and How to Withdrawal". This is The Ashton Manual. If you are struggling with benzodiazepines, heck even if you were prescribed a benzo for the first time yesterday, you should read this book. It's also available as a free ebook download on Amazon, and probably countless other places on the internet.
Whats remarkable about The Ashton Method is that it doesn't require willpower. It doesn't require you to confess your deepest flaws to a room full of strangers. It doesn't even require detox/withdrawal or abstinence. I will expand on this below, but first I want to speak to how, for me, reading the manual was life-changing medicine all on its own. By reading the science behind how benzodiazepines work, and the mechanisms driving physical dependence and addiction, I came to realize that my problem was not only a normal consequence of human physiology, but also simply-- not my fault. You might be here because you've made mistakes with these powerful drugs, mistakes which can have severe and debilitating consequences. These mistakes are also not your fault.
The manual is written with such a compassionate yet matter-of-fact tone, I'd never before felt so validated and seen, represented right there in the very data of that publication. Layers of shame fell away. I came to realize the real place where things went wrong: benzo's should never have been prescribed to me as a daily medication in the first place, not for more than a few weeks at a time. By the time I recognized I had an addiction, I was too far in its grasp to make "good" choices. My mistakes were simply choices made by a desperate brain trying its best to survive.
Not only does she envelop you in compassion and hope, The Ashton Manual also is your step by step out of benzo's ever-tightening grip. Its full of statistics showing you how very achievable tapering completely off benzo's actually is (The manual reports an overall success rate over 90%). Reading this book will make you *want* to taper off, not because you are an addict who needs to get clean, but because you'll learn that doing so is remarkably possible, requires no withdrawals, and will bring you immense relief. If you're like me, as soon as you start the proces, you'll begin to feel a lot better right away.
In addition to the Ashton Manual itself, there are many excellent summaries of the basic strategy and its principles across the web. I won't attempt to do so here other than outline the most major points.
Two other points that you wont find in the manual, but come up in unofficial accounts, and definitely match my own experience:
In my case, I tapered down over 8 months until i got to half a 2mg tab of diazepam a day (diazepam doseages are huge by comparison to many benzos like ativan or xanax). An acute anxiety attack, which are less frequent now than anytime in the past 5 years, for me requires about 4mg to fully treat. My doc has me held me at ten 2-mg pills a month, with permission to use this supply however helps me feel best. I now have the control to save those pills for times I know I'll kick myself if I had them, such as an upcoming trip involving plane travel. At the same time, I no longer recoil in horror at the idea of fully abandoning benzos. At some point, perhaps soon I may find I forget to refill the rx at all.
After reading the manual, I "came clean" to my psychiatrist. It was scary, but I knew that change was not only possible but would make me feel a lot better. My doc is an older, curmudgeonly guy, pretty strict and cautious with my adhd stimulant prescription (no early refills, not even the time an airline lost my luggage). So when I admitted I could no longer control my clonazepam use to the point of extreme duress, I was prepared with research papers in hand, to ask about diazepam and the possibility for long slow taper as per the Ashton Manual. It turned out, not only was he familiar with the technique, he was scribbling down a diazepam script before I even had the chance to ask.
So if you're struggling, I can't encourage you enough to read the manual. Get yourself to a psychiatrist who is willing to work with you using the Ashton Method, even if you have to pay out of pocket, you will likely save yourself many times over in (ineffective!) future rehab or emergency room visits. I was in a terrible place and felt *truly* hopeless and helpless. The Ashton method worked exactly as described in the manual. The hardest part was getting up the courage to ask my doctor for help. If I can help you do that or to clarify details of what i've written here, I absolutely welcome direct messages.
I'm just a person on the internet who stumbled across an incredible solution to what once seemed like an impossible problem. I'm messaging the folks over in the alcohol use subs all the time ;) Together we got this.

The Ashton Manual
Dr. Heather Ashton, NY Times obit
*If youre worried about having your benzo prescription yanked away from you entirely, you may wish to inquire about a switch to diazepam an Ashton-style taper while keeping the reasons vague. This is an understandable instinct. Know that experiencing troublesome rebound symptoms between benzo doses, even if you're taking meds at exactly the dosage and intervals prescribed, is a sign that the drug may no longer be serving you well. Rebound symptoms are a perfectly reasonable cause to seek a change in your benzo treatment, whether the problem has progressed to dependence and addiction or not.

2023.03.21 12:18 yonom2021 $ARB and $GMX Fundamental Analysis

Arbitrum's native token, ARB, is a governance token that will be used for protocol governance, unlike Ethereum's ether, which is used to pay transaction fees. The total supply of ARB is 10 billion, with 56% of those tokens being controlled by the community. The remaining tokens will be distributed to DAOs operating within the Arbitrum ecosystem, investors, employees of Offchain Labs, the development firm behind Arbitrum, and a treasury controlled by the new Arbitrum DAO.
The release of ARB coincides with the launch of Arbitrum Obit, which allows third-party applications and protocols to build new "layer 3" blockchains on top of Arbitrum's low-fee infrastructure. This expansion of the Arbitrum ecosystem may increase the demand for ARB as the token used for protocol governance.
The Arbitrum DAO will have significant authority to control crucial decisions at the core protocol level, including the allocation of chain revenue to support the ecosystem and how the technology of the chain is upgraded. The ARB token will provide ARB holders with the ability to participate in important decisions regarding Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova, which allow users to transact on the Ethereum blockchain more efficiently, with faster speeds and lower fees.
The introduction of the ARB token is expected to bring greater decentralization to the Arbitrum ecosystem compared to other scaling chains. However, the success of ARB and the Arbitrum ecosystem will depend on the adoption and usage of the technology by developers and users.
As with any investment, it is important to conduct your own research and due diligence before making any decisions. The success of ARB will depend on factors such as the adoption of Arbitrum by developers and users, the effectiveness of the governance process, and the overall performance of the cryptocurrency market. Investors should carefully consider the potential risks and rewards before investing in ARB.
GMX is a decentralized perpetual and spot exchange that operates with a native token, GMX. The platform offers low swap fees and trading with zero price impact, which can be beneficial to users. Furthermore, GMX allows users to trade various assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Avalanche, and leverage their positions up to 30x.
Utility and Governance Token:
GMX's native token, GMX, offers both utility and governance benefits. Thirty percent of the generated fees are distributed to token holders, providing a passive revenue stream and an incentive to hold the asset for extended periods. Users can also stake the GMX token to earn more passive revenue, with APRs hovering above 10% at the time of writing. The trading platform also offers a secondary token called GLP, which accrues 70% of the generated fees and can also be staked on both blockchains, with APRs near 20%.
Exchange Listings:
GMX has recently been listed on major exchanges such as Binance and FTX, with more platforms likely to follow. This listing has created short-term price momentum, but interest in the decentralized platform has been high for several months. As a result, GMX is one of the better-performing crypto assets of Q3 2022. However, the success of GMX depends on getting more people to use the platform.
GMX's low swap fees and trading with zero price impact are highly attractive to users. The platform's ability to trade various assets and leverage up to 30x provides users with market exposure that can yield significant profits. Moreover, the GMX token's utility and governance benefits offer a passive revenue stream to holders and create an incentive to hold the asset for extended periods. The recent listing of GMX on major exchanges will likely create short-term price momentum, but the success of the platform ultimately depends on getting more people to use it.

2023.03.21 03:40 anxietytravels Which part of Skyline Drive to include in NJ to Asheville trip?

I'm traveling from Northern NJ to Roanoke, VA in May. I'm planning an overnight stop somewhere in PA or VA area depending on the route I take (Gettysburg? Harrisburg? somewhere outside Baltimore?) to break up the trip into 3-4 hours each day. Total trip time is about 7 hours.
I keep seeing suggestions that Skyline Drive is a must to drive on when going down that way. It looks very pretty and I would love to stop at some of the overlooks, take in the scenery, take some photographs and just have some mini breaks. However, going the whole way from the Fort Royal to Rockfish Gap will add about 2.5 hours to my trip (too much).
I researched from the website that there are four entrances onto Skyline Drive
What would be a best part of Skyline Drive to enter and exit so that I see a good representative portion of it and catch some good overlook sights before returning to Route 81 to get Roanoke? In other words, which section of Skyline Drive would give me the best experience?

2023.03.20 17:31 Impossible-Eye4255 Arbitrum's DEX transactions volume hits new all-time high while launching governance token

Arbitrum, one of the top layer 2 scaling solutions on Ethereum, has been hitting new milestones in recent weeks. According to DeFillama data, the decentralized exchange (DEX) transactions volume on Arbitrum rose to a new all-time high, reaching $4.34 billion in the last seven days. Uniswap remains the dominant DEX platform on Arbitrum, accounting for 48% of all trades on the network.
Despite the recent issues surrounding the stablecoin USD Coin (USDC), Arbitrum's stablecoin inflow has also risen, with more inflow of Tether's USDT and algorithmic stablecoin DAI into the network as compared to USDC.
Moreover, the Arbitrum Foundation has launched its long-awaited governance token, ARB, which will mark the network's transition to a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). This move will enable ARB holders to vote on key decisions governing the network, including upgrades to the technology and the use of revenue to support the ecosystem. The ARB token will make the Arbitrum ecosystem more decentralized than alternative scaling chains, according to Offchain Labs, the creator of Arbitrum.
The launch of ARB has been timed to coincide with the launch of Arbitrum Obit, which will enable third-party apps and protocols to build new "layer 3" blockchains based atop Arbitrum's low-fee infrastructure. This is a significant development that could potentially benefit businesses looking for cost-effective and efficient solutions for their operations.
The recent developments on Arbitrum show promising signs of growth and innovation, providing businesses with a unique opportunity to leverage its layer 2 scaling solutions.
Do you think Arbitrum is the best Layer 2 solution for now? 👇

Story: Urama is obsessed with his good looks and an was outcast because of this obsession and he’s conceded personally. He’s mother used to always tell him how handsome he was and tell him he was the families pride and joy of the family and would bring happiness and riches. He would often look at him self in his bathroom mirror after school and tell himself how good he had it, until his mother killed herself cause of their poverty and debt using broken mirror shards of the same mirror.
Technique: Cursed Mirrors
Urama can make mirrors that can project blasts of light from mirror an reflect anything be it physical or spiritual attacks throwing it back at user however if its too strong it can shatter the mirror. He can also make a single self-reflection clone of one person at a time to help aid in battle or other things. He can manipulate the mirror to float and obit around him but not very far or they lose speed. Also can use shards of mirror like sword to cut and stab. Occasionally can teleport between mirror but takes great stamina depending on distance, not just his mirrors any mirror.
Domain: Land of Broken Shards
White realm of floating mirror shard that Urama can teleport through with ease or send blast through increasing speed significantly he cannot use clones here or reflect but in return anything residing in this domain will have their durability reduced to that of glass, even shattering on impact but kept alive while in pieces and can only put back together by Urama. If domain is expelled while a target is broken they will be left in pieces leaving a bloody mess.
