2023.03.31 18:10 Alternative-SWE Hi, I need help building my VMware home-lab environment

Hi, I need help building my VMware home-lab environment.
I will be using it as a NAS (TrueNas), Plex server, NextCloud, Docker container, Home assistant and VMWare Horizon with vGPU. I will set up a nested vSan lab as well.
My problem is that I’m not really sure on how to design and optimize my hardware for best practice/performance. This is what I have to work with.. if you think I missing something essential there’s no problem buying it.
Network infrastructure is mostly 10GbE including the WAN connection
https://www.ebay.com/itm/185765358103
CPU: AMD EPYC 7502 CPU 32 Cores
Motherboard: Supermicro H12SSL
ECC RAM: 256GB 2666MHZ
Graphics-card: NVIDIA RTX3080
https://www.ebay.com/itm/124993766868
Network’s card: 10GbE X2
PSU: Corsair RM1000x 80 PLUS Gold
NVMe:
4X 500GB
3X 2TB
SATA SSD:
2X 256GB
2X 500GB
SATA HDD:
8X 4TB
4X 14TB
3X 3TB

Do you have any suggestion on what I should focus on and split my resource?

2023.03.31 18:07 ShekinahSeeker Looking for artsy and friendly communities in Latin America

Hello All,
I just returned to the states after solo traveling Mexico for 5 1/2 months and Guatemala for 2 1/2 months. I discovered that my favorite places to stay are small cities that are full of art and travelers (with a preference for spanish speaking travelers) but also have a culturally vibrant local community. For instance, I am enamored by San Cristobal de las Casas in Mexico and by San Pedro in Lago de Atitlan in Guatemala. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for other cities in either Central or South America that I can visit to next, that are similar to these two cities. I like places in which Spanish is expected and not english (I am fluent in Spanish), there are spaces like restaurants or bars that are open to creating events with artists, and there are many projects and opportunities to be a part of the community. I also enjoy being in spaces in which I can learn about indigenous cultures and languages, which was great as the populations of San Pedro and San Cristobal de las Casas were Mayan. Thanks for any advice :)

2023.03.31 18:06 Birdy_Cephon_Altera A giant shopping cart-mobile in San Antonio provide "the" opportunity for low-stakes drama when submitter is teased about referring to a freeway with "the 410", and one user in particular is having none of it.

There's always a bit of ribbing between Texans and Californians for all sorts of reasons. But one (very small) difference is that San Antonians refer to freeways with just the number, while Californians often tack on a "the" prefix. So, "Loop 410" in California would be "the 410".
A submission is made to sanantio about a ginormous novelty shopping cart belonging to Lowes, motoring down on of the local highways: https://www.reddit.com/sanantonio/comments/127bcjt/on_the_410_west/, with the title "On the 410 west". A number of commenters immediately latch on to the "the" part, to tag the submitter as a Californian.
"Californian detected."
""The 410" 🤢😭 this is where I draw the line with the out of staters"
"We know you're from CA when you call it "The 10". lol"
No biggie. It's all in good fun, and just points out a little difference in how people speak between different places, that's all.
"yeah, that's an odd phrasing here in TX. I lived in CA for a few years, and that's how they refer to their highways..I-10 = 'the 10", Hwy 91 = "the 91". Sadly, I got used to saying it that way....took about 30 seconds to ditch it when I moved back."
But one user in particular just can't seem to let it go.
"It's not incorrect, it is a thing so "the" is grammatically correct"
"You’re not from here are you?"
"Nope, not originally. But it's home now"
"Welcome! For us it’s like hearing someone say, “I’m going to talk to the mom” or “welcome to San Antonio"
"Except those are people? I just dont get the artificial outrage. I know reddit is gonna reddit (I see you down voters) just feels like wasted energy."
"They’re just trying to help you understand. It’s not artificial outrage. It’s how it is said here and there’s not a quicker way to distinguish that someone isn’t from here. You do you tho."
"This is like the most clownish thing to be concerned about lol"
"if you feel someone here has been "outraged" by the conversation, you may want to take a break from the KB"
"Yeah exactly, I think it's a sign of a non Texan or even non English speaker? I could see saying the inner loop, or the so and so exit, but if you're talking about the road you're on or where something is located, you sound like a robot trying to be a human or an old person trying to be hip if you add that extra article. "I drove the 1604 to the i-35 and went to the HEB and posted on the Reddits.""
"Starfire from Teen Titans speech"
(Note: I did make a joke comment about the giant shopping cart, but separate and not related to the mini-drama)

2023.03.31 18:02 user-982357982 [TOMT][MUSIC] The song "San Francisco" with a drum line over the chrous

Back when The SixtyOne (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thesixtyone) was a thing, there was a version of the song San Francisco ("be sure to wear flowers in your hair") that was basically the original version of the song, but there was a really nice drum track, mostly over the chorus. Not dancy or basey, almost like a drum line with lots of snare. I've looked all over for it, there are lots of remixes but I haven't been able to find this version.

2023.03.31 18:02 RyleeMonster Newbie at Cosplay Costume Making. Help!!!!

Hi,
My 19 yr. old son is planning on attending Fanime, which is taking place at the end of May. He will be going as a clone trooper. I plan on making his costume and will be using EVA foam. Does anyone know where I am supposed to buy this stuff besides Amazon? I live in San Jose, California and the only places I have been able to find are Michael's and Joanne Fabrics. The problem is the pieces are not going to be big enough. For example one of the larger pieces I need would be 157.4 inches x 39.3 inches of 8 mm thick foam. I had to do the conversions bc the pattern is metric so it was asking for a 4 x1 meter piece of 8mm foam. This feels so overwhelming!

2023.03.31 17:59 ShaneBeamer SC beaches for finding sea glass?

Heyo,
I've been to many beaches in SC but have never come across any sea glass, however, I've also never really been looking lol. I went to San Juan, PR over the winter and found some really cool/pretty pieces and now I'm basically obsessed lol.
Can you find sea glass on any SC beaches?

2023.03.31 17:56 StepwiseUndrape574 Street Thugs Rejoice, Rockstar Confirms GTA 6 And Work Is Well Underway

It's been around eight and a half years since the last major installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, the longest gap ever in a franchise that spans seven main titles. So when is the next one coming? We can't say for sure, but Rockstar Games has not finally confirmed that there will in fact be a Grand Theft Auto 6, and that it is deep in development.
A new game in the franchise feels long overdue, though Grand Theft Auto V, which surpassed 150 million units sold last summer, and GTA Online have continued to scratch that itch for virtual wanton mayhem. It remains to be seen what the next entry brings, but we can assume (or at least hope) it will take full advantage of the latest hardware capabilities.
"With the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series," Rockstar Games stated in a blog post. "With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered—and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway."
Grand Theft Auto V Characters Rockstar Games doesn't come right out and say "GTA 6" but whatever the title, this will be the sixth main installment. It follows GTA V (2013), GTA IV (2008), GTA: San Andreas (2004), GTA: Vice City (2002), GTA III (2001), GTA 2 (1999), and the original GTA release (1997). That's 25 years of GTA, folks.
It seems more than plausible that GTA 6 will tap into the hardware capabilities of the latest generation game consoles (Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5) and graphics cards (Ampere and RDNA 2), given that a remaster of GTA V is headed to systems on next month.
As to what GTA 6 will bring to the table, supposed leaks and rumors have been all over the map. There's been chatter of a return to Miami with Liberty City and Vice City making appearances, and players being able to assume the role of a drug lord. GTA 6 is also rumored to be the most expansive title in the franchise yet.
For now we'll have to keep guessing, as Rockstar Games says it will be "sharing more as soon as we are ready." Waiting is the hard part, but knowing GTA 6 is happening and is deep in development will have to suffice for the time being.

2023.03.31 17:56 A_Finicky_Thing Keeper-focused professional development

I'd love to hear what kind of professional development you guys have enjoyed and benefited from, or what kind you wish you could have.
Examples from a position I had: - trainings from the curator and vet teams about various topics like recapture, operant conditioning, and animal nutrition, - AZA memberships (loved the message boards) - San Diego Zoo Global online courses
I want to help my zoo provide more professional development to keepers but I want it to be stuff that people are actually interested in doing! And I need to figure out how to keep it cost effective to make my initial case. Obviously things like conferences are amazing but it is difficult to do for more than one or two people at a time. I want to jump-start a program that everyone can get involved in if they are interested!

2023.03.31 17:54 whatinthe6 Wearing Juve apparel in Milano? Yes or no?

Ciao a tutti! I’m a Canadian visiting Milano at the end of April to watch some Calcio. I’ll be catching Lazio v Inter at San Siro while I’m in Milan. I’m a huge Juventus fan and will be visiting Turin to watch Juve v Lecce.
Would I be okay to wear anything like a shirt or hat with the Juve logo on it? A few years ago in Rome I was constantly whistled at and harassed by locals for wearing Juve stuff. Never felt endangered as I was with my family. Will be travelling alone and would rather not draw negative attention to myself if possible. Is this something I should be worried about or am I overthinking?
