Hello, y'all! My name is Paladin, and I had previously beat the world record for longest continuous TTRPG session in December at 440.5 hours, and we are going to do it AGAIN!This time playing Rappan Athuk from Frog God Games! Frog God Games also has agreed to help us this time around as well by giving things such as free merchandise and all their resources to setup the game with expanded content! The next world record marathon is going to be from July 1st to August 1st - playing 30 days!

"Many, many players have lost favored PCs delving into the depths of this dungeon, all the while giggling like children and having the time of their lives. Hundreds, if not thousands of players have combed the halls of Rappan Athuk over the years, seeking treasure and fame, making it one of the best-known dungeon locations the game has ever produced. Even players who have never entered its halls know the term: “Don’t go down the Well!”Simply said: this module is hard and deadly, really deadly. This game plays like Diablo meets Dark Souls meets DnD. The module does not hold punches, and neither are we. This game has a lot of darkness, gloom, doom, intense fights, a massive dungeon, and a true marker of what is a great adventure that reminds us all what it felt like to face off against our first skeleton or our first boss.
How Playing In This Type Of Game Will Work
The game will be played on Foundry, use Discord, and be streamed to Twitch- using video and voice. Video and headset is mandatory to join this game.Every 2 hours either the dungeon master or the party of players will switch and have a handoff over a break. Handoffs are mainstreamed with a tool to assist in ensuring that all the proper information is given between players or dungeon masters. During the game, additional roles will be given to the party to assist in keeping track of inventory, mapping out the dungeon, and writing recap information down to share with the whole group. We will use variant and homebrew rules to create an atmosphere of darkness and danger as we traverse the massive megadungeon that is Rappan Athuk- a module that is 59 areas big and 660 pages of brutal, awesomeness.
Player and Dungeon Master Signups
Signups start May 1st at 6 PM CSTThe game will feature 6 roles with 17 players allowed in each role and a total of 17 DMs. This averages out to about 2-3 games a week per person. Whenever signups open up, teams and groups up to 6 players will be first to signup in the first week, and they will get priority placement. After the first week of signups, individuals will then be able to signup to play the game.
Looking for People to Help Prepare This post is looking for either dungeon masters or players that are interested in joining in this adventure who can help to prepare it and get it ready by July! Surprisingly enough, we have most of the resources from the last marathon to piggyback off of, but we are still looking for Dungeon Masters or Players with unique skills and leadership capabilities to work along with us and the creators of the book, Frog God Games, to bring this marathon to the next level! I ve been playing all Diablo games and enjoyed all of them for god knows how many hours. D3 was my least favourite but I still played it a lot and enjoy it.
As for Diablo 4.
The GOOD:

• GRAPHICS: The overall visuals are detailed and on point. There is a lot of small detail in cities and so on which is nice to look at. There are some hiccups like the necro skeletons (cartoony and with an odd glow which doesn t match the rest of the game) and the necromancer bodies (why we need a set of extra highlighted corpses when the ones from the mobs you just killed are on the ground...can t comprehend. was the same in d3).
  
• MUSIC: The music and ambiental sounds make for a pretty good diablo atmosphere overall. The music in D3 wasn t bad, it was just very fanfare and theatrical too often for a game about killing demons in the dark.
  
• TRANSMOG/CHARACTER APPEARANCES: These are very nice and really make your characters look cool. A small note: since it looks so great overall, It could use having more faces/hairstyles/beards etc. Kinda of a waste to have so few hairstyles and faces etc for such a good system.
  
• THE DIALOGUE/STORY: So far it seems to have a less bombastic in your face approach like in D3. The story also has a slower, mystical air to it, opposed to the D3 saviour of the universe.
  

The BAD:

• INNOVATION AND COMPLEXITY, although having a good foundation, feels like a very basic or bare-bones aRPG. It feels like an improved Diablo 3 which should ve come 5 years ago. Given that these games launch about 10 years apart, you would expect more interesting features and systems for them. Sure, you don t need to reinvent the wheel, but it s not the case here. I know it s just level 25, but we ve seen a lot of the basic systems and the community updates. As someone on this reddit said, "here s an improved d3 with a play schedule". I ll further detail individually down why I think the game is a bare-bones aRPG.
  
• SKILLS: There are less/almost equal skills (not to mention Runes) for D4 than in D3. You take the Necromancer for example. It has around 19 active skills in D4 plus one of two runes you can pick from. There are also few passives scattered around. In D3 you have 21 skills with 5 runes each. Factoring in the runes, it does seem like there are more skills in Diablo 3. We could maybe add The Book of the dead Skeleton and Golem skills and maybe we get on par. With so few skills in D4 it seems like there won t be too many different builds. Sure, endgame gear and paragons can alter these skills a lot but..it s the same few skills at the end. Maybe they started with few skills so they can add more over time.
  
• STATS/ITEM STATS: We get more or less the exact same stats/amount of different stats like in Diablo 3. They are boiled down into attack defense and regeneration. Looks like a mobile game honestly. Item Stats themselves are rather boring and insignificant except for few like +to X Skill. Items are pretty boring (I know it s lvl 25 but we ve seen many items over time). It all boils down to the most important stat, the legendary power. It was always the plan for this since they announced D4 and you could see that they tried to make item stats look more complex but kept the original idea: Legendary power is what matters most. The rest is filler for the attack/defense/regeneration display. Since these are the items, the gems fall in the same category, no interesting stats just basic dull stuff.
  
• ENEMIES: There seem to be few monster types so far, which you encounter repeatedly and very often. Most of them do not seem to have some unique feature/mechanic besides name and model or some noticeable unique feature mechanic. They seem to be just fodder for champion/elites affixes to stick to. Mob density is very low regardless of taking the giant empty world zones in account. Might be level related. Bosses/Mini Bosses seen so far aren t memorable at all and seem to have AI generated clunky names, like in wow. But wow has thousands of npcs and bosses and mobs created over 15 years..understandable. But D4? eh.
  
• UI: The Interface is hard to understand often, even considering it s been designed for consoles. Some things are really impractical, like the minimap which is irrevelant since zones are so big and you don t see much on the minimap. There is no transparent map overlay which forces you to press M to open the giant map very very often. A simple D2 overlay would fix this. After all, it can be disabled. The font used for the items on the ground is horrid, as in it is the basic font used in all pseudo-games/rpgs on mobile. Not only it doesn t look like the rest of the game, but it s ugly {personal opinion}. Probably it was chosen because it is a clearer font for consoles. This font is used in mobile games because of the small screen they are being played on. With consoles and pc's this shouldn t be the case. Also why isn t the central skill bar tied to the bottom edge of the screen? It s just wasted space.
  
• PERFORMANCE/BUGS/SERVERS I do understand this is an open beta, but this game is 2 months away from launch. You can imagine that not much can be done even by a big team in that timespace. We ll leave aside the fried cards. The game's performance is bad, with frequent stutters (as in fps drops) and freezes and crashes. This isn t hardware related I think, as I ve tested different settings, different computers with different above recommended specs. This problem also persists on the PS4 identically. This occurs more often when you cross zones. On top of these, there are the server issues which will likely persists at launch as all blizzard releases. The rubberbanding and invisible walls are also terrible additions. The fact that the game is online only even while playing alone..doesn t help.
  
• MMO FEATURES: It seems that D4 tried to be Lost Ark and failed. Badly. Having played both, D4 gives you the feeling of a primitive Lost Ark. Of course, you can t play alone and are forced to see many players around you in towns, so that you see their interesting shop bought cosmetics so you want to buy em too. This was probably planned way before development started. It s annoying to see this many players especially in towns. It s just a visual clutterfest of annoyance. Add in the performance issues and you ve got yourself an active player wish to avoid especially big towns or towns in general. They took from wow few of the most annoying mmo features: scheduled gameplay and daily quests. It s a psychological tool to force you to log in every day or set time, so that their engagement metrics are high and investors think everything is great. The world boss is a terrible system. You need to play EVERY week, or you ll miss out on the free rewards. Why are they free? Because like in WoW you can just go there, land a hit onto the boss, die, wait or die again and others will kill the boss and voila, you get the same loot as them. No effort, no skill or brain activity needed, just your pressence at that fixed time every week. Just your sole existence. The EMOTE WHEEL is an uncessary and idiotic feature I cannot comprehend. I guess it has it s advantages for consoles. But going to a statue and dancing or clapping your hands for quest rewards or buffs isn t really a gameplay which should exist in an arpg. Maybe in SIMS.
  
• OTHER SYSTEMS: Gambling, Potion Upgrade, Item Upgrade. This is your usual well known basic stuff. Nothing special. I have to admit the Potion system with craftable extra potion is a step up from D3.
  
• DUNGEONS: Dungeons are very repetitive and seem to be made from few very often repeating tiles which you can notice right away. They look nice and have lot s of details in those specific tiles though. There aren t many mobs and often you have some generic, often repeating events. Dungeons aren t unique, they are more like some pre-generated rifts which require a lot of backtracking. Monsters aren t the objective, they are just the barrier before the objective which is press this switch or that lever. Monsters aren t difficult either and there aren t specific dungeon mechanics or traps or whatever to fill up the empty void of long nothing the dungeons are. Honestly, they feel worse than D3 rifts and I did those thousands of times. Here I could barely do each one once. The game feels often pointless, as you are wandering big pretty and empty zones, barely seeing mobs, or some insignificant forgettable ones. To what good is a big open world if it is empty. Never had that feeling in D3, each zone had a specific story role, purpose, event, mob type and wasn t too big. I can remember them all by names. Here I can remember the main town and another one because it has a blacksmith. Otherwise just ai generated name zones which have nothing to do or to offer besides being just filler.
  

I didn t want to pre-order and this beta convinced me that I shouldn t even buy the game at launch. It is doubtful that the technical issues will be fixed in such a short time. Not to mention the rather repetitive and empty open world and the bare-bones arpg feature. The game skeleton is there but that s it mostly. Maybe he also has a hood. Or maybe not. Sure if the game did not cost 70$ and would ve been marketed as early access yeah. But with other competitors it s just not worth it in my opinion. PoE is free, PoE 2 will be free, Last Epoch is far cheaper and so on.
The only thing this game currently has over the others is the Diablo franchise name and some tied in nostalgia with npc and item names. Just like the initial runewords plan for D4. They were adding something which used the name but had nothing to do with the original feature. This is how Diablo 4 feels to me overall. Sure, the bigger budget shows in many aspects compared to the other listed aRPGs. But damn it, even Wolcen at its disastrous launch had more innovative elements and less game breaking bugs and technical issues. At least you could avoid the server issues playing offline.
If anyone disagress with stuff here just bring an argument for a discussion don t just call me whatever. What I say here could be wrong but it s just how I see the game currently. Maybe devs read feedback and try to do something. I do want this game to get good and to play it for a long time. Not one gazillion years like d2 or half gazillion years like D3, but something longer than few weeks. It seems to me that the art and music devs had a lot of creative freedom. I don t think the systems devs had so much creative freedom, hence we get this basic rpg with no innovative features at all. This could ve easily been D3 - remake. I am sure that the devs with more creative freedom, would ve done interesting and innovative aRPGs like the competitiors.
I ll keep checking on the game. Maybe after half a year a lot of the stuff gets fixed or corrected or re-made. Maybe it will be bundled with a game-fixing expansion, who knows.

It’s called Outside and it’s a free iPhone app that shows a countdown to your plans with a widget for your home screen.
You can add notes for any important bits and we’ll send reminders so you never forget. We're seeing people use the app for all sorts of things, like counting down their next vacation, exam or best friend's birthday.

after extracting what is probably a hundred weapons cases from al mazrah for rewards, faction missions, or to invite pvp), ive figured out the easiest ways to get the al mazrah weapons case in all three locations, given the juggernaut hasn’t been aggroed and pulled to a different area (had him chase me all the way to the middle of akhdar from al sharim pass once)
zaya observatory: the easiest weapons case spawn, approach the observatory from the northwest, and climb onto the radio tower as silently as you can and make your way to the second level. the juggernaut spawns on the highest railing of the dome in the center of the POI. shoot him with a sniper, preferably with a friend or two or five, but when alone you may need to bring a munitions box depending on your aim and sniper of choice. sometimes he’ll flinch and get stuck in the dome, but not to worry, headshots will get you through. it’s also the easiest exfil because of the automatic high ground, a squad member can fly off to another exfil, which will probably be in parachute range, call it, and then you can pick up the weapons case (to delay the alert) when the chopper arrives, and fly to the exfil with no interference.
zarqwa hydroelectric: similar strategy, arrive from the northeast and climb onto the radio tower. juggernaut spawns on the back end of the island in the middle. if you look between the two buildings on the island, he’ll be standing in the open side of the left building, near the pool of water. once dead, parachute down, grab the case, dive into the pool of water and get to the river. head northeast or southwest from there (depending on closest exfil) and you can swim to the bridge and get out with less resistance. in a perfect world, exfil would be close by, but because of the lack of high ground, escape from hydro tends to be a little harder. easiest when done early in the game while everyone is near the outer edge of the map.
al sharim pass: approach from the northwest, and climb up the tower in the center of the POI. there will be ai around but it tends to be tier 1s so make quick work of them and get up the tower. the juggernaut is a bit harder to spot, but he spawns at the top of the POI. kill some of the tier 3 ai, and he’ll eventually poke his head out and stand near the tree at the courtyard at the highest point. clear out as much tier 3 ai as you can before killing the jugg, since they can be a struggle when parachuting down to pick up the case. like observatory, high ground lets a squad member parachute early to call an exfil before the case is picked up, to reduce player interference.
side notes: you can tell the weapons case is in play before it is picked up by looking the map periodically and checking to see if the weapons case circle has disappeared yet, and the case icon appeared. if a team engages you with the weapons case, feel free to drop the case, no need for them to be able to see where you are at all times.

Upright and Balanced - On the Trail and in Life This past summer, my daughter and I planned to hike a section of the Appalachian Trail. Although we both loved the outdoors and were frequent day hikers, neither of us had attempted an overnight backpacking experience. After watching numerous on-line videos for advice, studying trail maps, and loading our packs, we set off for adventure, compass in hand and a smile on our faces.
Seasoned backpackers will tell you that “newbies” on the trail are easily recognized by the size of their packs, carrying everything but the kitchen sink. We were no exception. Our packs were easily half our body weight and towered over our heads. After the first mile, we got the hang of balancing our loads and conquered one steep ascent after another.
All was well until I had the misfortune to misstep and “roll” on a stick. I was thrown off balance, my feet went out from under me, and I found myself looking up at the sky, my fall cushioned by my pack. My daughter ran to my aid but was quickly overcome with fits of laughter at the sight of me attempting to get back on my feet. ​ Every effort to stand up was negated by the heavy pack. No matter how I tried, I was stuck, much like an overturned turtle. After valiant efforts to right myself, I lay exhausted by the situation, needing some kind of helping hand to stand. Once I gave up fighting the pack weight, a thought came to me. If I just unclipped my pack, I would be able to stand. I did. Now free from the weight of my burden, I stood upright.
My experience on the trail holds many lessons for me when compared to Al-Anon. Many of us carried a burden from the effects of alcoholism, causing us to lose our balance and get stuck. Our best efforts were ineffective in “righting” ourselves in our relationships and lives. For me, the experience, strength, and hope provided by the program are the freeing solutions to the family disease of alcoholism. The Steps and Traditions help me unclip the burden of the effects of growing up with alcoholism, allowing me to proceed down the trail of life upright and balanced.

Bruising, damaging, relentless. TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew faced four-and-a-half hours of questioning at a US congressional hearing on Thursday.
​
As one congressman pointed out, some people run marathons quicker than that.
​
Mr Chew will certainly be feeling it, after a torrid time giving evidence. Many tech execs have stood before Congress, and they often don't get an easy ride.
​
But what was exceptional about this hearing was the stubborn, never-ending line of vicious questioning.

From both Democrats and Republicans, there was no let-up. A spokesperson for TikTok said afterwards the politicians were "grandstanding". There is most certainly some truth to that. But between the sometimes frustratingly verbose questioning, we did learn a thing or two.

Legislators were united against TikTok
There was criticism of TikTok from Republicans and Democrats, and the level of distrust and scepticism from all sides was stark.
"Welcome to the most bipartisan committee in Congress," said Republican congressman Buddy Carter.

"Thank you, Mr Chew, for bringing Republicans and Democrats together," said Dan Crenshaw, a Republican.

It was really quite something to see so many politicians - who agree on practically nothing - agreeing wholeheartedly that TikTok was a security threat.
​
TikTok complained afterwards that not enough time had been spent focusing on the platform's measures to keep data safe.
​
"Also not mentioned today by members of the committee: the livelihoods of the five million businesses on TikTok or the [US Constitution] First Amendment implications of banning a platform loved by 150 million Americans," a TikTok spokesperson said.

ByteDance engineers in China have access to some US data
Mr Chew kept talking about a "Project Texas", a proposal which will see it store all data in the US under the watch of American firm Oracle.
However, Project Texas is not fully operational. As of now, Mr Chew confirmed that engineers at ByteDance - TikTok's parent company - do have access to data.

"We rely on global interoperability, Chinese engineers have access to data," he said.
​
It was an admission that politicians kept coming back to. Their point was that if data can be accessed by engineers in China, it's hard to see how the Chinese government couldn't also access it.
​
On Friday, China's foreign ministry repeated its claim that it does not ask companies to provide data or intelligence located in other countries.
​
Chew has shares in ByteDance
Perhaps Mr Chew's least successful defence was his attempt to distance TikTok from ByteDance.
By any definition, the Chinese company owns TikTok. Mr Chew himself used to be ByteDance's chief financial officer.

When initially asked, Mr Chew didn't want to say whether he owned shares in ByteDance. Pressed by lawmakers, he eventually said he did, but tried to downplay the connection.
​
China's government says it would oppose any US plan to force ByteDance to sell TikTok - something authorities are reportedly considering.
​
Chew's children do not use TikTok
At one point in the hearing, Mr Chew was asked by congresswoman Nanette Barragán, a Democrat, whether or not his own children used TikTok.
He said they didn't because they live in Singapore. In that country the version of the app for children younger than 13 is not available.

Mr Chew did clarify that the children's version of the app is available in the US, and he would let his children use it if they were in America.

Mr Chew generally pulled his punches. He didn't often take the fight back to members of Congress. But there were rare moments where he did push back - and effectively.

When quizzed on TikTok's use of user data, he said: "With all due respect, American companies don't have a great track record with data … Just look at Facebook and Cambridge Analytica."

It was a barbed comment, but a reasonable point to make.

Hey everyone. Was wondering if the panda demon locations in the village are linked to their source of origin (which map you found them).
Did anyone test? If yes anyone has some data about that?

This is simply my random thoughts regarding who the "sinner" is I apologize for any lore mistakes I make ahead of time for those that simply know a LOT more than I do by reading all the books etc in game :)
First of all I assume you have played through the "caribert" storyline before reading this.

Ok now given that it seems dain KNOWS who the sinner is and simply hasnt told the traveller because he says before hand that "time is not a limitation for one such as him" or along those lines.
First I believe that the "sinner" is responsible for the curse of immortality itself not the gods and directly or indirectly for the curse of the wilderness. (the hilichurl tranformation on non-pure khaenrian's)
To me it's likely it wasnt even meant to be a curse but an empowerment for the khaenrians but celestia when they responded (the cataclysm) made it go awry so their true unchanging immortality was tainted with loss of mind and other errors.(erosion?) Immortality is not a natural state, decay is. With death life returns.
When clothar and the abyss sibling visited the chamber where the sinner was, the proximity to it was enough for the sinner to override the abyss siblings protection and directly influence them. He also at that time cleansed clothar of the curse (while also inserting command instructions into poor clothar's mind) and allowed him to pass on special imbuement to his son caribert. (which is quite possibly kaeya's father)
This ability to use power to influence other entities I believe we've seen many times.

Rhinedotter made DURIN the shadow dragon, but she doesnt seem to be inherently evil at all , she seems to care for albedo like a son , if a good friend of alice. Again the sinner likely took control of rhinedotter's dragon and dvalin had to stop it ; getting tainted in the process. She also made the rifthounds but again it looks likes they also got co-opted by the sinner.
Ever wonder why the frost nail hit right there where it did in dragonspine? To cleanse corruption of course. In the Chasm we see the abyss order trying to contaminate the nail that's there so the shadow mud can take over. The removable walls in the chasm have a diamond symbol just like the diamond of the sinner. They are removed by light from your stone.
Orobashi who supposedly read a book and then attacked the raiden shogun? What does that sound like to you. Forbidden knowledge! supposedly which allowed the sinner to take control of orobashi. ever wonder why there is tatarigami where orobashi died and creatures with dark auras? The foul taint of the possession still mars that land.
The thunderbird: Raiden killed the bird for what reason? We dont know but likely again the sinner (who is a dark fate entity) took contol maybe empowered it and it was going to detonate over inazuma's main island instead of over serai where raiden got it. The time ripping on tsurumi island where the thunderbird is from, the presence of rift hounds all point the finger at him a dark entity of time and fate.
King deshret: Got depressed after his wife (the god of flowers) was killed, he blamed the gods and turned away from them. But maybe the sinner again was at work, turned somebody against another leading to her death. Then Deshret reading forbidden texts became suddenly exposed directly to the sinners machinations and again the sinner took control of deshret. Luckily rukkadevata had an answer but it took her giving up thousands of years of wisdom to remove the corruption on deshret and he died anyway but the sinner at least was stopped that time.
King Irmun: The one eyed king likely was the host for the sinner (via forbidden knowledge conduit) which allowed him to go to war with the other archon's lands, turning advanced harvest machinery into weapons of war. I also believe natlan is to the west of where the main overground entrance to khaenriah is located, with sumera to the east. Natlan being warlike as they are probably put up quite a good fight even against machines of war and fought him to a standstill.
The archon war: If we're assuming the sinner can influence , control or outright possess entities why not other gods? He's more powerful than them. This could very well have been the cause of the archon war and why some gods allied and some just died along the way.
Xiao himself had his mind captured by one of the "dark gods" which are likely subservient to the sinner. Xiao fights demons.. so what are they if not just darkly infused entities.

I know it's a lot to blame the sinner for all of this, but who better than a defeated but powerful simmering imprisoned entity who is likely the second who came.
I believe his power level is above the 7 archons, so more on par with the primordial one which means it's likely that he's the "second who came" who went to war with the primordial one and lost. (which is why he appears imprisoned) but even in this state he's still incredibly powerful just restricted. So he's had to work through proxies, but look at the damage he's done to the world.

Another no proof crazy theory I have is that the traveller had a conversation with the sustainer after they were captured (at the beginning of the game) and like "the bourne identity" agreed to try and save teyvat from the sinner's machinations by going "undercover". But since the sinner has the ability to get information from the entirety of time the traveller was forced to forget (and likely paimon as well) so they would not be discovered as being agents for the sustainer. They were placed in a particular time frame (500 years after the cataclysm) for the plan to work. Likely theres a special key that involves coming into contact with all 7 gods that will reveal that which was hidden and the sinner's machinations can be stopped.
Maybe paimon is a transformed and forced to forget shade of the primordial one. She'll have her day in the sun at the end of the tale when at last the sinner is eradicated from teyvat.

I dont know if any of this is right or i'm barking up the tree in a completely crazed manner , maybe it's simply what i'd like to be true in the story.
