I am NOT talking about double doors.
If you look at the bedroom doors there is a door from the hallway, a small gap (but not really enough to create an anteroom or vestibule) and then another door on the bedroom side. These doors close face to face not next to each other.
I think the doors from the Drawing Room into the Highclere Music Room (they use this as Cora’s Boudoir in the show, it’s where Cora and Isobel have a fight in Season 2) also have this feature (and are also double doors).
It’s almost like how an American house (maybe these exist other places) would have a front door and a storm door but these are indoors.
Sorry for the long explanation, every time I try this question the top comment says those are double doors and it gets 10+ upvotes.
Ok so my question is are these an architectural feature that deals with heating (providing more insulation) or is this something to do with etiquette/service, like maybe the servants or family/guests can feel free to open the outer door but not the inner one?
And then finally does anyone know the name of this feature?

Location is Tennessee. I woke up to find a significant number of car parts scattered across my yard plus tire tracks. My mailbox was taken out as was a chunk of my concrete driveway after hitting a culvert.
The part numbers on the body panels and mechanical components scattered across my yard were from a white 2020-2022 Toyota Corolla. About a mile up the road we found the highway patrol investigating a white Corolla (airbags deployed 😵) with bumper and mechanical damage consistent with the parts in our yard.
I picked up the crash report today and the highway patrol found the driver at a nearby house and got their information including home address, phone, and drivers license number.
I don’t know who to contact—the rental company or the renter? I realize reaching out to the person who rented the car will likely be fruitless but I have no idea what the proper procedure is.
The last few times this happened the driver’s insurance reached out to us without any prompting but this feels different somehow because a rental car is involved.
I appreciate any advice you may have.
Also RIP Corolla. The culvert has destroyed a few cars being driven by drunk or distracted drivers after they leave the road at high speed since we’ve owned the house. The life of a rental car is often brutal and short.

So, my family and I patroned this very popular chicken themed restaurant. We've been going there for years(on special occasions) because of their delicious entres of chicken, catfish, pot roast, roasted chicken, and refillable side dishes. When we got there, we were sat towards the back of the restaurant and stayed there for close to 20 minutes. I don't mind the wait because I understand that restaurants are short staffed, packed, and having high turnovers. By some miracle, the manager passes by and asks if we've been served. We tell him no, so he moved us to a different table and requested a server. It still took an extra 10 minutes for a server to come to the table. When the server came she was rude,never refilled our drinks, side dishes, and did not come back to check on our table throughout the the entire meal. I normally try to give people the benefit of the doubt because I work in the customer service and I understand that people have bad days, and sometimes customers are not nice but it was just unacceptable. I couldn't even bring myself to give a tip and I tip well over 20% and up. I've never had service that blatantly bad before and I've never not tipped my server . Let me know if you guys have any bad customer service stories.

To me this is quite unfair treatment considering how I always say goodbye to their daughter at the bus stop at whatever late time it is in the night, regardless of how tired and sleep deprived I might be.

Hi all! I am new to Reddit......I was advised by a co-worker to consider this platform when seeking advice about my newly formed LLC. I have been a public-school teacher for almost 16 years. I have spent my entire career working at high needs, disadvantaged and underserved schools. A sixth grader was gunned down in his mom's car a few days ago!
A couple of weeks ago I witnessed a 6th grade kid getting stabbed in the hallway in front of my class! In all my years of teaching, I would have never guessed that I would see anything as horrendous as that!
So, in response to these things, I decided to act and start my own educational program to serve as an alternative to the kids that want to learn but are too poor to attend a school other than those that present a hostile environment.

I just bought a 2018 XLT a couple weeks ago, and this week I just started noticing noises on the driver’s side of the car. I hear an occasional rattling sound, like plastic rattling possibly, right behind the driver’s seat when up to speed. It sounds like it could be the seat belt, or possibly the seat. I’m not sure.
The second sound I only hear when pulling into my driveway, which is a curb-style so it’s kind of a bump. I hear a creaking sound as the front tires go up, and then again when the rear tires go up the curb. It sounds like it is coming from the frame, between the driver and rear door, but I can’t tell for sure. Any ideas what it could be?
I like everything else about the car, and it is under warranty for 90 days through CarMax, so if something needs fixing I’d like to have it done soon.

Hey guys. Long time DFO player here, was here ever since nexon days.
So, I was banned from DFO today, just learned that. I was trade banned at first because they said they detected a third-party program being used. I have never hacked this game at all. What I did do however was launch a game while playing DFO (I wanted to multitask, have dfo be up as I sell disassembling services while playing another game) And they told me that the cheat engine from that game may have raised flags, so I thought, "okay, no more playing games alongside DFO."
I don't do it again, then I log into dfo today, and I learn that I'm banned for illicit programs/third party programs. I have NO idea what the fuck is happening here. I made sure to turn off all games that I was playing BEFORE launching DFO. The thing is, they never TOLD me what the third party program is, only what it COULD have been.
Even if I appeal (which i already have) and get my account back, I'm afraid to even launch the game because I don't know what the fuck is raising their flags. Is it other games? Is it someone getting into my account??? I don't know.
I'm just kind of... devastated right now, because there's a chance that I lost everything, all of the work and all of the gold, and real life money... gone. I want to know what went wrong, why it happened, and what the third party program is.

The progress of Artificial Intelligence continues. His achievements are increasingly covering the material sphere of life. Soon, we will all be able to see firsthand the new generation of synthetic robots performing everyday tasks. But how exactly will this be implemented?
First, the first AI platforms will appear. Conventionally, these platforms will have sections for each robot separately. In 2023-25, massive humanoid robots with legs, arms and hands will already appear. The most popular models will have millions of sales, and will be the largest ecosystem for them. In each section of an individual robot, Models will be presented for its behavior in various situations. You can imagine a robot as a phone, then its section is its operating system, and the robot's behavior models are applications that can be installed and removed on it. The robot can be taught yoga, cooking, delivery and fishing, these will be independent models of behavior, which the robot can either train independently, or download a ready-made model according to the rating level. It is long and expensive to train the robot yourself, but over time, training will require less time and data, which will allow you to generate these models on the fly, but only for the simplest tasks, be it floor cleaning. Complex tasks will take a longer time to master, and then the question of a more effective choice will arise - to learn quickly some task yourself, if a ready-made model of this task does not yet exist at all, or download a ready-made one. In addition, the structure of the operating system is very important, but it will be easy and understandable for everyone. The robot itself will wait for commands in standby mode. I am sure, less then in 2 years AI companies will make AI that can control humanoid bot, which can do any human hand work. This means only one thing. When they will make 100 such bots, this bots will double every 1-3 months. By 2030, we can have 1 Million-1Billion such robots, which will make everything and change our life LIKE NOTHING BEFORE !
For example, they will produce all food for everyone, but NOT only food. Fabric production will become not just automated, but robotized with universal clever humanoid workers.
Also they can do some landscaping and environmental management. But wait.
Remember what I tell you in the beginning? If they can do everthing, they will making new factories to produce themselves MORE and MORE. This is not like electrocars. 1 electrocar cant produce other 2 electocars. If 1000 robots can produce factory that can produce 10000 robots per year, then 1 robot can produce 10 per year. You guys know what I mean ? Exponential grow of robot population in this decade. And this is not a funny joke, this soon will be our reality.
Oh cmon, but how much robots we REALLY need ? Somebody will say 100000 robots per city will be FAR enough to cover all the needs of the city and will absolutely right. BUT. What we really want from our life ? I mean, in near future we all will all have a certain resource. Resource, that humanity never have before. We can call it ABILITY TO CREATE. Create almost without borders. So, after we cover all our ordinary needs, what we will do next ? What is humanity really capable of with such power?
Mega projects. Yep, this things will be next after working humanoid robot revolution. After day, then count of robots will more then 1 billion, things will change really fast. Making new islands in pacific sea near Hawaii ? Of coures. How much people want to live on Maldives ? What if we can create Maldives the size of Eurasia in the Pacific? They would accommodate 2 times more people than they currently live on earth.
God only knows what incredible things we can create in this century. But the truth is, we can't even imagine it all. We got so caught up in films about the future that we forgot that the present future is actually UNKNOWN to us and most likely it WILL NOT look like what we CAN imagine. This fact fascinates me every time.
And I will not tire of asserting that the beginning of this will be laid already in this decade. Very soon, the first robot will come off the assembly line, understanding your commands and simply executing them. At this point, you can safely say that this is the beginning of singularity.

So I've been trying to search for a straight answer and I haven't been able to find one. So I figured I'd just ask. I'm a "newer" reactor. I react to shows and movies and my current setup (albeit shitty) is using OBS to screen record my pc and then using my webc to record myself. My computer is pretty old so it can't handle doing all that which makes my job harder. I'm looking to be able to just directly record my TV (without connecting to my PC) and then just use my webcam to record myself.
So saying all that, can a video capture card screen record the above mentioned?
Or do these streaming services have it blocked so not even a video capture card can record it. I'm aware they can record for videos games but I need to specifically record TV shows.
I'm not even looking to pirate lol.

Working for a small retail company with 3 owners and 7 employees. 3 of the employees are in the same family and one of them is sleeping with one of the owners. I’m the longest serving employee.
I’m a one person purchasing department in charge of maintaining inventory levels of 15000+ SKUs, and the company makes me cover receiving too.
Ever since the relationship between the employee and the owner began I felt a change in treatment/attitude towards me from the entire family and that owner. They would leave me empty display hooks for things that are out of stock on my desk without a word of communication. They would leave post it notes with “hey just to let you know x and x are out of stock”. But never ask me why or when we’re expecting restock. I don’t sense any good intention from all of these “reminders”.
Money is always tight and we literally can’t stock tons of all 15k+ SKUs. Sometimes products are already on the way and would get here more or less just in time. Sometimes there are production delays and not everything is always available. But they make all of that seem like my incompetency.
One day this week I was doing receiving and went through 30 boxes on my own, half of the boxes are bigger than me. I was very tired at the end of the day, my hands had multiple cuts, and my nail was separating from my finger from digging tightly packed boxes. I left the last box unopened, as it was from a different supplier and there were no pre-ordered items in it, I figure I could do it the next day. Not a word of acknowledgement on the boxes I went through. All I got was “what’s the deal with this box? Why aren’t you going through it?” from one of the members of that family.
I left one of the “out of stock” notes with the restocked item. Like “hey now we have it”. Went to the washroom and came back to find the same note on my desk again as the owner and his lover were replenishing shelves (btw they always work together and do the same tasks, no matter now menial. They go to the washroom together too).
I was furious but also confused. I found their behaviour shitty and passive aggressive, but have I become passive aggressive too in the process?
I gave them my resignation in writing last week and the lovers&family have been mostly ignoring me except for nitpicking on my work (the box instance) and returning the note.

I operate a subreddit called Rentbusters. My hobby of sorts is to find ads of apartments and studios that I think are overpriced, work out what the price should be and then alert the person who moves into it that they can get the rent reduced and potentially save themselves 1000s of euros a year.
Many apartments/studios and practically all dependent (shared) rooms rented out in the Netherlands are subject to rent-regulation (sometimes called social housing). This regulation also applies to homes rented out on the private market as well as those in Woning Corporaties. Depending on the size, quality, energy efficiency (or the build year), a home that is rented out on pararius/funda/jaap for 1000 euro per month excl, might be drastically overpriced. A government organization called the Huurcommissie (HC) mediates disputes between landlords and tenants over things like this and they have the power to compel the landlord to refund/reduce the rent price
Unfortunately few people are aware of this organization and landlord/makelaars are exploiting students/expats ignorance of the law to charge outrageous rents, illegal agency fees and false service costs.
Take for example this place (see image if the ad is removed).
Advertised as 750 euro per month incl, this studio has one major issue that might mean it is overpriced: It has a shared toilet. Having to share a bathroom with another resident is considered a disadvantage for the tenant and this categorizes the studio as a dependent living space which means severely limits the amount of rent the landlord can ask for the studio. According to the Huurcommissie that might give the studio a maximum legal rent price of 352 euro per month (excl). Assuming the services costs are between 100-150 euro per month, this would mean that the apartment is 250-300 euro per month overpriced or 3000-3600 euro per year: money that goes straight to the landlords pocket as tax-free profit.
However.....
IF you were to get a viewing for an apartment like this, knowing this information, you could sign the contract, start the initial rent assessment procedure within the first six months and then get the rent slashed by a third and everything you overpaid since the start of the contract refunded to you. It can even be performed in a manner that allows you to stay in the studio so the landlord cannot punish you by evicting you for complaining. As well as that, procedures with the HC cost only 25 euro (which you get refunded if you are getting overcharged)
I personally have had my rent reduced twice at the HC saving myself thousands of euro per year. I regularly post ads of the really badly overpriced stuff over on Rentbusters and answer questions about energy labels, WOZ values and contracts.

The title kind of says it all, though I can't help but feel I'm slightly in the wrong.

I (minor) got a dog a little over a month ago, he's my full responsibility, the parents don't take care of him or anything, this was our agreement. We have a family dog, but I usually don't take care of him unless the parents are out of town or I'm home alone. For context my dog is young, not even a full 2 years old yet, he was put up for adoption because he failed as a service dog. Recently the dogs have been playing a lot more, and causing some chaos around the house, the parents mentioned getting my dog a shock collar so he would quit trying to chase the other dog around and getting in the way if we shocked him.
I'm against the idea because I don't think it's right, he's a puppy with a lot of energy and never seems to get rid of it, getting a shock collar and shocking him when he's playing a bit to much seems mean. He's a trained dog too, so it's not like it's a untrained dog who never listens, I do daily training with him as well. Idk I feel like I'm in the wrong for not wanting to get him one while the family wants to, he's hyper and I can understand not wanting to deal with it, but he's my dog and I make sure he gets most of his energy gone before the parents come home.
So AITA for not wanting to put a shock collar on my dog?
