I am starting a new self improvement journey, I’ve practiced this for years but always quit by the end. I spent years on Twitter but before July 2022, I didn’t use it every day. I did quit social media from March-June 2020 & September-November 2020.
I want to take more breaks from Twitter this year & limit time on Instagram. Once I get the hang of it, I will go cold Turkey in a week or two.
I felt so much better when I reconnected with nature, So I want to spend more time outside. I stayed inside too much last summer. Now I’m going to the gym 3 times a week and spending more time in nature.
I really need to focus on studies and get my GED so I can get into college. I just turned 28 and still trying to get into college and attempting to get in this year. I used to do 5 days at the gym and aiming for 4 days.

Background:
My wife and I have identical laptops. I recently upgraded mine to a new Intel AX210 WiFi card, and yesterday decided to do the same for hers. Her laptop was running Windows 10 and was giving her some stuttering behavior the other day. I run Windows 11 on mine and since there's been a lot of newer ASUS image/firmware updates for it I decided to upgrade her to 11 as well. I backed up all her data, swapped the WiFi card out, made sure everything was working as-is, and then wanted to give it the ol' nuke and pave to Windows 11.

Issue:
Past 2 days:
Windows 10, Windows 11, and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (live USB) all lock up randomly and I can't complete an install.

Windows 11 Install - installation completes, OOBE loads, and it will lock up randomly anywhere between connecting to WiFi network to signing into Microsoft account

Windows 10 Install - installation completes, OOBE loads, and it'll lock up between connecting to WiFi network to right after creating a local account
​
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS LiveUSB - locked up after about 6 minutes of idling in the "Try Ubuntu" load

I considered perhaps it was the SSD, so we overnighted a new Samsung 970 EVO from Amazon, the issue persists. I even swapped the old WiFi card back in thinking maybe it was just a problematic Intel WiFi card causing the issue.
It does not lock up in BIOS (I let it sit with something on an arrow key for 30min so it was changing menus constantly - no lockups)
It does not appear to lock up in PE environments, namely SystemRescueCD Live.
EDIT: It does not appear to be a heat issue either, i compared our laptops on startup and they seem to be behaving the same way in that regard. I have considered tearing it all the way down and reapplying thermal paste, but that's a task I'd rather not get into if I can help it.
I've also reseated the RAM, even swapped the slots they're installed in.

I ran memtest86 overnight for 8hrs, 5 passes, no issues.I managed to get Windows 10 installed w/o much fuss this morning with no wifi card in it and ran mdsched.exe and it passed
I was going to run an in-os diag with Si-Sandra or Cinebench, but it locked up almost immediately.
I've been in I.T. since 2006 and I'm running out of ideas.

I (25F) went on one date with this guy (31M) and now I kinda feel bombarded with texts. I'm not someone who's particularly attached to their phone and generally don't check personal messages while at work but always try to reply within 24 hours. It's not because I'm trying to play a game or be "hard to catch" or whatever, it's legitimately a time thing - I reply when I have the mental space to write a nice reply and have a conversation.
Anyway, this guy would send me a text. If I don't reply within an hour, he'd send me another text; often a version of the first one. For example today he texted "Hey, how was your day?". At the time, I was playing netball so couldn't immediately respond. When I got home (about 1.5 hours since the first text), I get "What was the most exciting thing that happened in your day?". I decide I'll reply after I've made some dinner and when I'm chilling in front of the TV; basically when I have some time to reply. About 30 min later I get another text, again along the same lines of enquiring about my day but I haven't even responded to the first text.... It's just a bit smothering and kinda feels like if I don't respond fast enough, I'll keep getting this continuous stream of texts. It's also putting me off but when we met up for our first date, he didn't come across as desperate as what he does now.
Look, I appreciate the effort with reaching out and all that but am I wrong in thinking this is too much? Or do I need to be more open minded about this?

So I've been stuck on Miasmic Grimquill for a while now. Last night was the closest I've ever got to killing it. Before the 10 minute mark, the lil skull popped up on his map icon and I thought we had him finally.
Around 5 minutes I could sense victory was close but made a fatal error. He enraged and targeted me with his double body slam. Dodged the first one with ease but mistimed the second one got hit by his lil crystal slam. Problem is, when I dodged, I put myself far too close to the other player who was shooting it with her hand cannon and got us both killed.
Seeing it happen, I let out a, "nnnnnnnnnNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! MOTHER ****ERRRRRRRRR!!!!!" I tossed my glasses from my face while hoisting my fists the sky, cursing the gods.
A minute later, my wife texts me, it's almost 2 in the AM and she's like, "I really hope your mad about a game and nothing bad happened. That scream woke me up." I told her I raged out at Wild Hearts and she went back to sleep.
Anyway, that's how my night went. How was everyone else's?

I'm trying to fight this disease as much as possible. Despite CP and EPI I am the strongest and most active I've ever been. Despite AP damaging my retinas I am reading more than I ever did.
Most of my time reading I spend researching chronic pancreatitis, searching for ways to fight it and prevent further progression. There is a lot of very useful information out there hidden behind paywalls with academic journals acting as gatekeepers. This is unacceptable (sci-hub is a godsend).
I've decide to write some information that may be interesting to patients, along with very simple actions may possibly benefit them. Not only may this help others, but also help me structure my own thoughts and understanding.
Stellate cells
Everybody has stellate cells (PSCs) in their pancreas. Their exact purpose is not understood yet but it's believed that they are responsible for the production and maintenance of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, which are important components of the connective tissue that surrounds and supports the various pancreatic cells.
Fibrosis
In a normal pancreas these cells are dormant. However in our case due inflammation or injury, they can become activated and start producing large amounts of ECM proteins, such as collagen. The excessive ECM produced by activated PSCs begin forming hard stiff tissue. This stiff tissue starts preventing the pancreas from being able to carry out it's normal functions, such as producing enzymes (EPI) and hormones (diabetes).
A chain reaction
Not only do activated stellate cells produce excessive ECM, but also pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors, which can further stimulate inflammation. Which further actives PSCs. Which produces further inflammation. Which further actives PSCs.... etc.
This is why chronic pancreatitis is a progressive disease. Even once the original cause of injury is removed (alcohol), the perpetual cycle of inflammation and fibrosis remain.
Pathways
Signalling pathways are used in every cell of our bodies as a way of communication. They allow cells to respond to changes in the environment as well as coordinate their efforts.
Several signalling pathways have been implicated in the activation of PSCs:

• TGF-β
• Wnt/β-catenin
• Hedgehog

And more in relation to pancreatic inflammation:

• NF-κB
• PI3K/AKT/mTOR
• JAK/STAT

It's important to note there a lot of crossover between these pathways in terms of their role in PSC activation and inflammation, due to the process being so tightly interconnected.
Modulating signalling
By modulating pathways (either enhancing or inhibiting) you're able to make cells behave differently. This is extremely useful and how a lot of medicine works. For example, in this study piperine (a compound found in black pepper) is used to inhibit the previously mentioned TGF-β pathway, and here are the results:

Taken together, this study demonstrated that piperine prevents the progression of pancreatic fibrosis by inhibiting the TGF-β/SMAD signaling pathway. Our findings suggest that piperine has an anti-fibrotic effect against CP and may be useful for the clinical management of pancreatic disorders.

This works because by inhibiting TGF-β essentially reduces PSC activation, which in turn prevents them from being able to produce so many ECM proteins, which in results in a reduction of fibrosis.
PSCs were discovered in the early 80s but they only really started getting attention and wrt CP after 1998. But, here is a study that recognises a modulation of TGF-β has beneficial effects on fibrosis before 1998, without any mention of stellate cells.
Even without any mention of stellate cells, this was clearly the mechanism of action.
Actions
Every action that we make has cellular effects on our bodies. Let's take another example from above, the mTOR pathway: It is activated any time we eat. When our Creon breaks down protein into amino acids and these are absorbed into our bloodsteam. When cells notice this TOR signalling is activated, which triggers a series of cellular processes that promote protein synthesis, cell growth, and metabolism.
This sounds all good, why wouldn't you want this? As mentioned above it is implicated in PSC activation, not only that but the ageing of the body in general. Obviously we need to eat, so what can be done about that?
Intermittent fasting is one approach, and has been proven to not only inhibit mTOR signalling, but also inflammation in general by modulating the TNF-α pathway.
You are what you eat
It's not only when you eat but what you eat. I've seen a lot of posts on here about tumeric (which has been used in Ayurveda medicine for thousands of years), and how that has helped people out. It's active compound (curcumin) is able to modulate multiple of the above mentioned pathways (TGF-β, NF-κB, PI3K/AKT/mTOR, JAK/STAT).
There is both hard scientific evidence and anecdotal reports of this being a beneficial compound, yet I've never had a dietician or doctor mention this to me. In fact, I'm sure if they did they would advise me to stay away.
Interestingly turmeric has been used in Ayurveda medicine for thousands of years, a long time before they anybody knew about anything mentioned in this post.
But also what you drink
Some drinks are terrible. Vodka turned me into an idiot, left me visually impaired and broke my pancreas. But there are drinks that are able to work in our favour.
Green tea is loaded with a compound called EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate). It's able to modulate multiple of the previously mentioned pathways (NF-κB, PI3K/AKT/mTOR, JAK/STAT, TGF-β, Wnt/β-catenin).
As an example of these mechanisms in action, here is a conclusion from a study whereby inhibiting the inflammatory NF-κB pathway it is able to reduce the negative effects of AP:

Our results demonstrated that GTP significantly ameliorated the effects of cerulein-induced AP in mice. These effects of GTP are mediated by actions at the NF-κB/IkB (inhibitor kB) proteins and oxidative stress pathways.

And another where EGCG inhibits stellate cell activation. It's also good news for those worried about pancreatic cancer.
A controversial drink...
A glass of red wine a day reduces the risk of pancreatitis. Please don't downvote me! If you're reading this the opposite likely applies to you. Anybody with any form of pancreatic issues (acute or chronic) should steer clear from alcohol for the rest of their lives. It won't have any benefical effects at all.
Luckily the compound that gives red wine it's beneficial effects can be isolated from a number of plants (grape skin, japanese knotweed) and taken as a supplement. It's able to modulate the PI3K/AKT/mTOR, JAK/STAT, NF-κB and Wnt/β-catenin pathways.
Here is an example of it's benefit to the severity of AP via suppression of NF-κB:

Recent evidence suggests that resveratrol might be a useful tool in the management of AP. Resveratrol might alleviate pancreatic damage and damage in other organs through various pathways. It seems to suppress NF-κB activity and regulate the generation of inflammatory mediators, and it improves the anti-oxidative defense system, modulates and manages intracellular calcium in pancreatic acinar cells and modulates the expression of several genes and transcriptional factors that are related to the pathophysiology of AP. To sum up, resveratrol seems to have several beneficial effects on AP, but high-quality trials in humans are needed to underpin these findings.

And another example of it reducing PSC activation, in turn reducing fibrosis:

We demonstrate that the oral administration of resveratrol (20 mg kg-1 d-1 ) effectively attenuated PSC activation, ECM deposition, fibrogenesis, and acinar atrophy in the pancreatitic parenchyma of cerulein-induced mice, as the damage index score was improved by 45.5%. The enhanced cell survival and preserved acinar integrity by resveratrol plausibly involves a perpetuated nuclear accumulation of Mist1 and a negative modulation of the Akt and p38 MAPK pathways.

Honorable mention
Closing off I'd like to mention a couple more compounds that may be of interest.
Q10 is a naturally occuring compound found everywhere in our bodies. It's got many benefits but seems to massively improve the condition of CP rat pancreas via inhibition of the mTOR pathway. Not only is this an extremely safe and well studied compound, but the study describing it's benefits is one of my favourites.

So many bad decisions compounded and left many of us here where we are today. Hopefully many good decisions are able to compound in a similar way and alleviate our symptoms.
My main goal in this post wasn't to exhaustively list a bunch of pathways, factors or compounds, but to run through the logic of my research and equip others with the knowledge and mindset to go forward with their own research.
I hope some of you find this useful, it was certainly was helpful in structuring my own thoughts. I'll probably have to edit this at some point because I've likely made some mistakes, but my eyes are about to fall out of my skull.

Throwaway for obvious reasons.
I hate being a mom. I never wanted kids, I was thriving in my career, traveling the world and getting paid for it. I had so many options and possibilities for my life. I loved my life and I never felt like a child was missing from it.
Fast forward: I met a guy at work. He was my dream guy and everything I ever could have wanted. He didn’t want kids either (so I thought). Well, long story short (even on birth control) I ended up pregnant and while I was crying and freaking out, he was over the moon (almost as if it was intended or planned). I thought about ending the pregnancy but he was so excited to be a dad and I couldn’t bear to lose him so I figured as long as I had this amazing man as my kids dad I’d be okay and we’d figure it out. WRONG. This was 11 months into our relationship (we were best friends about 2 years leading up to dating)…we ended up married a couple weeks later…another thing I never really wanted to do or at least not rush into but my grandpa was a pastor and told us we had to “do the right thing”.
My mindset on kids changed during my pregnancy, I was happy and my marriage was for the most part amazing. Once our child was born, my husband was the most amazing father and I was a pretty good mother I think. I suffered really bad from PPD and constantly thought about unaliving myself and my baby but I got help and things got better. And my husband picked up the slack ten fold. He was honestly the perfect dad and gave me everything I needed to focus on getting better.
My husband was gone a lot for work again after our son turned 1 and I was stuck being a full time single, working mom. I was moved to a position in the company that didn’t require me to travel anymore, a desk job, and I hated it. My husband was off seeing the world and I was playing house by myself. As you can imagine the marriage fell apart after a couple years of this and he stopped being a good father. For about a year he stopped showing up completely. My child started acting out more (entering the terrible twos and threes) and I kept telling myself “it’s just a phase, it’ll get better.” Well…it didn’t and I’m f***ing miserable.
I ended up losing my job all together because I was a single mom and struggling mentally with the divorce and being the only caregiver for a child I never wanted. I went back to school, my sons father now sees him again more, I started a new career (that I kinda hate) and the more time I have to spend with my kid, the more I resent him. He’s annoying, he cries constantly, I don’t have the patience. I want him to live with his dad full time but his dad still travels for work and can’t take him. I feel like a horrible parent, I know I’m not a good one, I can see that. I wasn’t cut out for this shit. All these men guilt child free women into motherhood and then leave them completely responsible for a kid they don’t want. This kid destroyed my relationship, my career, my life and I’m supposed to act like I’m happy about it. It wasn’t his fault and I know that, I made the choice to keep him…and I regret it. He’s a good kid for the most part and obviously I love him more than anything. I just don’t particularly like him. I don’t know what to do anymore, but I’m all he has. His dad is physically around but since the divorce, he’s a shell of his former self and doesn’t act like the father he was. He doesn’t really do anything with our son, just sticks him on the couch with a tablet and occasionally talks to him.
One day my son is my best friend and little sidekick but the next 5 days he’s screaming and crying constantly and I’m shutting down. I don’t know how to break out of this and be a good mom. My kid deserves at least one half decent parent. He’s set up for life, he’ll be able to go to any university of his choosing, have nice things, and good experiences. But that’s not parenting. I want to be a good mom, I tell myself every morning “today we will do better” but 5 minutes in he does some dumb shit and I start yelling again. I’m so angry all the time and I want to stop it. I want to enjoy my kid. I’ve started therapy, gotten on medication, tried gentle parenting and he just cries all the time and blatantly ignores me. It’s like nothing works and I just end up in bed all day wishing he would leave me alone or counting down the minutes until his dad picks him up and I get to be free.

Still, after like after almost 7 months from starting it, the other half of the college group im in bullies me often. Today, they written loser on my jacket, it was kinda hard to wash it off. Already told my mom about it again, to like switch the college and stuff. She said that there are the same type of people in order colleges, but one thing out of 5 people that i asked how good their group is only 1 said that its shit. I also told the curator of my group about it, honestly i don't think her talking with the people that did it will do much if it even will do anything.
Anyways am i over exaggerating? Am i just stupid for not leaving after the first semester?

Convertible Loan Note Facility, Issue of Initial Associated Warrants
and Further Extension of TSHII Option
TomCo Energy plc (AIM: TOM), the US operating oil development group focused on using innovative technology to unlock unconventional hydrocarbon resources, announces that the Company has obtained an unsecured committed facility of up to £1,000,000 via a convertible loan note instrument and associated subscription and put option agreement (together, the "Convertible Loan") entered into with certain subscribers introduced by Novum Securities Limited ("NSL"), the Company's broker, as further detailed below.
The Convertible Loan is intended to further bridge the Company's general working capital requirements, to the extent required, as the Board seeks to finalise due diligence and documentation in respect of its preferred arrangements with a potential financing party for a funding package to enable the Company to execute on its previously stated development plans for its wholly owned subsidiary, Greenfield Energy LLC ("Greenfield") and the Tar Sands Holdings II LLC ("TSHII") site. These plans include, inter alia, securing the remaining 90% of the Membership Interests in TSHII, with its 760 acres of land and a large mining permit in Utah, USA, constructing two oil sands processing plants and associated infrastructure on the TSHII site, and drilling a series of in-situ oil recovery wells.
As previously announced, Greenfield currently owns a 10% Membership Interest in TSHII and holds an exclusive option (the "Option"), exercisable at its sole discretion, to acquire the remaining 90% of the Membership Interests for additional cash consideration of US$16.25 million which was scheduled to expire on 31 March 2023 (the "Agreement"). To allow additional time for the abovementioned funding package to be secured, the Agreement has now been varied in order to further extend the exercise period of the Option. Accordingly, Greenfield may now exercise the Option, at its sole discretion, by delivering a notice of exercise on or before 30 April 2023 and making payment of the US$16.25 million cash consideration by no later than 5 May 2023. However, there can be no certainty that appropriate funding arrangements will ultimately be successfully secured or as to the terms of any such funding or consequently that the Option will be exercised.
The Convertible Loan
The £1,000,000 Convertible Loan facility is available for drawdown by the Company in four equal tranches of £250,000. The Company has, at its sole election, an option to draw down one or more of the £250,000 tranches on or before 31 March 2024. Interest equating to a fixed amount of five per cent. of the principal amount drawn down shall accrue until repayment, conversion or redemption of the relevant notes.
Amounts drawn down under the facility and the associated accrued interest are convertible at any time at the election of a noteholder via service of a conversion notice. Alternatively, they may be repaid in cash before 31 March 2024 at the election of the Company by way of the Company giving not less than five business days' notice in writing during which period the noteholder(s) concerned remain entitled to serve a conversion notice prior to such repayment.
If any amounts drawn down under the Convertible Loan are not repaid or converted prior to the scheduled redemption date of 31 March 2024, the noteholder(s) concerned shall be deemed to have served a conversion notice to convert the outstanding balance and the associated accrued interest into new ordinary shares of no-par value in the capital of the Company ("Ordinary Shares").
The conversion price per new Ordinary Share under the facility shall be determined as the lower of: (i) 0.60 pence; and (ii) the volume-weighted average price of an Ordinary Share during any five of the fifteen business days prior to service or deemed service of a conversion notice, as selected by the noteholder(s) concerned and sourced from Bloomberg L.P., discounted by 15%.
Warrants
The Convertible Loan subscribers have been issued with, in aggregate, 41,666,667 warrants by the Company, with each warrant affording the holder the right to subscribe for one new Ordinary Share at an exercise price of 0.60 pence per share, for a period of three years ("Warrants").
If any £250,000 tranche of the Convertible Loan is drawn down, the Convertible Loan subscribers will be issued with, in aggregate, a further 41,666,667 Warrants by the Company for each of the first three £250,000 tranches drawn down, exercisable for a period of three years from the date of any such drawdown.
Accordingly, if the full £1,000,000 of the Convertible Loan was to be drawn down a total of 166,666,667 Warrants would be issued. If these were to subsequently be exercised in full, it would result in the issue of 166,666,667 new Ordinary Shares raising a further £1,000,000 towards the development of the Company's business.
NSL will also be issued on drawdown of the initial tranche of the Convertible Loan with 10,000,000 warrants, with each warrant affording the right to subscribe for one new Ordinary Share at an exercise price of 0.60 pence per share, for a period of two years from the date of such drawdown (the "Broker Warrants"). If the Broker Warrants were to subsequently be exercised in full, it would result in the issue of 10,000,000 new Ordinary Shares raising a further £60,000 towards the development of the Company's business.
Commenting today, John Potter, CEO of TomCo, said: "This Convertible Loan facility provides the Company with the flexibility to have financing available to drawdown, to the extent required, whilst we seek to finalise negotiations with a potential financing partner for a funding package that, if secured, would enable the Company to execute on its development plans for Greenfield and the TSHII site. Whilst there can be no certainty that the preferred funding package being negotiated will ultimately be secured, these remain very exciting times for TomCo and I look forward to making further announcements in due course."

Hello all, I am 24 hours off coke from basically a 2.5 week bender. Most days off I had was 1, and I was high the last 5. I kept justifying it by only spending my tip money, and because I hadn’t started banging (IV) it again.
On Sunday I started banging it again. I told myself “you just need to get it outta your system man, it’s what you’ve really wanted this whole time”. My personal junkie-logic lol. Not the first time I’ve said it to myself. Only did a half gram that night, so my hands/arms weren’t immediately ruined
Monday I craved pretty hard but I was low on cash, and waiting on a check so it was fairly easy to stay busy.
Well Tuesday rolls around and I deposit my check. And I tell myself, “dude, you can afford to spend 80 bucks of that. You gotta bang up a g man or it’s not gonna leave your mind.”
And then something happened that has never happened before. I’m sitting on my bed, halfway through the gram, shaking, sweating profusely, paranoid, searching desperately for dwindling veins, to find a spot, to GET ONE MORE RUSH.
And I just stopped. I put the rig down, put the rest of the coke in my safe, said a little prayer, and made a plan to come clean to my support group the next day.
I realized I couldn’t keep going. I have done this same rodeo countless times. Get sober for a few months, stop doing the things that help me stay sober, eventually start snorting coke again, and then I bang it. And everytime I never stop until an infection or overdose sends me to the hospital, and then usually detox/rehab. I’m very lucky that I have not died from coke with fentanyl in it, as I do not test my product before banging it.
I KNOW THIS HAPPENS WHEN I DO COKE. I can no longer lie to myself. I can no longer pretend that this is gonna end any other way except more rehab, heartbreak, financial ruin, tarnished reputation, worsening health, and/or death.
I knew the first person I had to come clean to was my mom, who I live with. I figured that throwing away the drugs would have a bigger impact than me saying “I got high all last night but now I’m ready to quit”. Which I’ve done before.
It was hard, I kept looking for the right moment. But finally did yesterday around 4pm. I told her everything. From start to finish. While I don’t know if she understood how hard it was for me mentally to put that bag down (she’s never done coke), I do think she appreciated watching me flush them down the toilet, as well as destroy my remaining rigs (needles), etc. And anyways, the important thing to me is that it made me feel empowered over this drug, in a way I never have before. I felt like I finally wasn’t it’s bitch. Like I had a say in my life, even in a wild where coke exists, I DON’T HAVE to be a coke addict.
She was very happy I had decided to become honest, as she knew something was wrong. I was sleeping late, getting angrier more frequently, and going to the bathroom a lot during tv/movies. I also was losing weight but had stopped running. She thought it was a big indicator that I am serious this time, even though I let it get way more out of hand than it should have.
I have since come clean to several people in my support group, as I like to call it haha. The response of me being honest, and seeming determined, has been overwhelmingly positive. I cannot believe the amount of people that love me and want to see me do well. A part of me feels heartbroken that I’m doomed to let them down, but I’m gonna keep trying goddamnit.
I’m going to a meeting today at 12, and maybe the 4pm if I feel so inclined. I’m not super into AA, but have used it before (for varying periods of time) and do believe it’s a good place for me when I’m first coming out of a bender.
I also transferred the rest of my check to my mom, and told her to give it to me when I buy my car next week. (I have been giving her money to save for my car since getting out of rehab in September)
If I relapse again in the next month, I’m planning on re-entering detox, and likely rehab. But will cross that bridge when I get there.
TL;DR: Relapsed on coke after 8 months. 2.5 week bender. Started IV’ing it again the last 2 nights. Stopped myself halfway through the last night, and decided to come clean the next day. Been sober a little over 24 hours. Looking for support

Young people please do not drink. This fucking desease is a torment. I have tried and made months ,then one beer ,just one shot. Next thing you know I'm on a bender. I don't want to go to detox anymore because I see the scars of getting poked for blood ,IV. My birthday is coming up and I'm trying to stop again. After a long night early sleep I woke up shaking, I have back up beers just incased this happened because a good doctor told me don't go cold turkey. I had one just to stop them my sleep is different, one hour turns into 5 without feeling it. I feel like I haven't slept a minute. My throat hurts ,my body is always having goosebumps. Thank God I don't hear or see anything.
End of story is this. Please if you see my post don't drink. This poison feels good at first. You will enjoy everything until you get back down. And when you are down you need more and more next thing you know ,it's morning drink so your body can function. You a need a drink you so you don't stop shaking. You need a drink to have a meal ,you need a drink just so you can sleep. This is no way to live. Thank you for your time today I'm going to keep suffering my pain away just so I can get sober.

Sorry in advance for any spelling grammar errors - I’ve just had the most stressful 48 hours of my life. tl;dr - looking to see if I can sue my landlord for a number of things that came to light after living in my apartment for 2 years related to carbon monoxide leaks, gas leaks, a faulty CO detector, and black mold/asbestos abatement. I live in California
Timeline of events: January 15th - crazy rain in California, found out that our porch was improperly sealed and water was leaking into our garage, causing major water damage to the drywall February 14th - someone finally comes to inspect, takes a punch hole to test for asbestos February 16th - asbestos confirmed, abatement scheduled. We are told we can stay in the house while it’s performed, as it’s happening on a lower level that doesn’t have a door to our house, but happened under our living room floor. Drywall hasn’t been replaced to date. We’ve asked our management company for the testing results, they say they are not authorized to release them to us. March 7 - call the landlord about oven malfunction, they blow us off and tell us to call gas company. Gas company comforts oven has incomplete combustion and leaks unsafe levels of carbon monoxide when in use. Red tagged. New oven not delivered as of time of posting (March 30). Despite use of oven, CO detector never went off March 26 - CO detector goes off at 4AM. I call the police, who calls fire company to inspect. They confirm no CO in the house, tell me the detector is defective. They also tell me the hot water heater is currently a fire hazard and to get landlord to service. March 27 - service tech comes to clean hot water heater, which has dust and debris near pilot light. They bring a new CO detector as well March 28 - landlord called gas company to inspect oven prior to new oven delivery that was supposed to take place on Monday but missed. It’s the same guy who red tagged the oven, we confirmed that we haven’t used, he says call Is pointless but offers to check other appliances while there since I mention the CO detector situation. He takes a reading and notices ambient levels of CO, which he wasn’t expecting. He looks at furnace and immediately sees it’s defective and sends us out to the porch. Turns on furnace and determines its also leaking carbon monoxide while in use. Red tags and leaves. At this point, I get into another lease and hire movers and start leaving because I used that furnace all the time March 29 - we call the same gas company guy to disconnect our dryer, he confirms a gas leak at the meter while on site and red tags it
Do I have recourse here? We are giving our 30 day notice today or tomorrow to our old landlord and I don’t know if I should refuse to pay final months rent and the fee to break the lease. We have provided this evidence to a law firm, but they have been really slow to respond and seem to only care about the asbestos. Surely this has to be negligence for so many things to be broken?

I was watching “Paheli” again a few days ago. Always loved the movie. It’s really well shot, colourful, and extremely detailed in terms of capturing the various nuances of Rajasthani culture. Even the characters are so well defined to fit into the cultural ethos perfectly. One of the finest roles by SRK, completely restrained and a delightful Rani Mukherjee, showing vulnerability and boldness in equal measure.
The story is really simple, The husband leaves his bride on the first morning of their marriage for a period of 5 years without them having consummated it. A ghost who is extremely mesmerised by the woman’s beauty transforms himself in to the husband and starts living with her, albeit with her consent. This is where a magical love story begins.
For me, there are many special moments in the movie that make it really special:
First, it was when the ghost reveals to the woman that he is in fact not her real husband and did not intend to start a relationship with her based on a lie. He could have chosen to be quiet and fulfilled his desires but he did not. He gives us the best lesson about consent. All those who think consent is a grey area, the ghost made the concept showed its either black or white.
Second, this moment came about right after the ghost sought the woman’s consent, and she cried and said, “I never knew I had a choice”. A poignant moment that makes us realise how difficult it was for women and how difficult it has been for them every day. Even in our modern times, there are many “rules” for women and none for men. They are always told what they can do and what they cannot. It just makes us realise about our mothers, sisters, partners and friends - how tough it has been for them.
The third moment is when the woman exercises her choice to choose the ghost over the husband who had left her and went away the morning following their wedding. Here, she chose the ‘person’ who truly loves her and not worry about what conservative family and society would think or say. Another sentiment shared in all Indian families “what will people say?” We are so hard wired to think what other people think about us, when frankly no one is bothered!
The fourth moment was when the real husband came back after a few years and asks the ghost, “I am the real husband legally and as per the society, you know this, then why are you doing this?” The ghost replied that, “The woman chose me, loves me and I love her, how does it matter what’s legal and what the society thinks?”
Another lesson on love should be the basis of a relationship not what the society thinks it is. This is a theme that many of the youngsters of today seem to believe in, irrespective of caste, colour, religion, or gender. And this a thing many couples have not learnt by being in relationship devoid of love but stick on to because “What would people say?” or “For the kids”
The last thing that stuck me was the strength of a joint family. It was so endearing to watch how the women of the household were always there for Rani’s character - in sadness and in joy - they behaved as a single unit giving all their support. In this age of nuclear families and individualism, we have lost out on the strength of joint families. At least the good part of it was about providing mental, social and economical support. Sometimes I wish if the older generation and the younger generation could both walk halfway, we can make better families and a greater society. Where the older generation is less authoritative and more sensitive to individual aspirations and the younger generation is more tolerant and accommodative towards the older.
In many ways its a movie far ahead of its times that needs to be applauded for making its female characters strong and bold.

I recently applied for life insurance and was denied. I went through Geico (whatever 3rd party they use) since that’s where my car and homeowners is held. I was told they reached out to a large number of insurance companies and all denied me. I have an extremely rare congenital condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which results in brittle bones (Samuel L Jackson’s Mr. Glass character in Unbreakable had OI 😆). There are varying degrees of the condition and I have the most mild type, which has been confirmed via genetic testing. I’ve broken ~40 bones and it’s a pain in the ass, but it has no affect on life expectancy at all. Though obviously if I were to be in a serious accident there’s a higher risk of death. I am 36 and otherwise completely healthy. I was really surprised by the full out denial and wonder if it’s because the condition is generally pretty unheard of and quick searches can bring up some scary results. The more severe types can be very severe - breaking a bone when you sneeze or roll over in bed, not surviving past infancy, etc. I’ve often had to explain the condition to doctors and even a lot of Orthopedists have never met someone with OI, so I would be surprised if an underwriter was familiar with the nuances of the condition. I was never asked any specifics about my condition beyond the name and brief description.
I do have life insurance through my employer, but I’m unable to increase it and would like more than I have. What can I do? Is there a company that might entertain insuring me? What if I submit the genetic testing that shows the degree of the condition? The location and type of genetic mutation definitively shows the type of OI I have, so it’s not a matter of it being a clinical diagnosis based on a particular doctor’s opinion or anything like that. When I was denied the agent working with me didn’t have any ideas of where I could go from here. Maybe nowhere? I have a 5 year old and am just concerned with having enough set aside for him. My only other idea would be to get a large insurance policy on my husband so that if we died at the same time his policy would compensate for me as well 🥴

Just a fyi report for those curious:
Edit for timeline: day 4 since testing positive. Exposure happened about 8 days ago. Looking back I can see something changed (fatigue, weird bout of diarrea) about 6 days ago, but was negative still.
Edit 2: No Paxlovid. In Canada, not eligible.
4x vaxxed, 42f in good health. First timer
Positive and sick since Monday. Monday, Tuesday I had extreme body pain, brain fog, low grade fever (never high), headache, and ‘burning lungs’ feeling.
Today I’m happy to report no more fever since 2 days. No more burning lungs thank god. No cough.
The brain fog has lifted to the point I can work a bit here and there (wfh).
New: Very dizzy, nausea. Like I’m on a sailboat. Very congested too. Very thirsty!
Also raging tinnitus, but I have bad tinnitus as a baseline (hearing damage), so I know it’s inflammation.
Taking vitamins, supplements as recommended in many threads (turmeric, Coq10 etc). Saline rinses too. Drinking electrolytes. Just resting otherwise (although I have to take care of my child and work a bit)
Pretty relieved to see improvement, but remaining vigilant of course, and not going out. But optimistic!
I never underestimated this virus, and would again stress this is nothing like the common cold. My case is mild, and I am disturbed by it. I was sicker with the flu last November (which had me bedridden 5 days), but Covid is strange, more disturbing in how it felt in my lungs and head. I was never this scared with the flu, even though that can be a killer too, I guess it’s more familiar.
I’ll be fine I’m sure, but can easily, so easily, imagine how this one can escalate in a body.

For quite some time, there have been several leaks regarding the eventual Grand Theft Auto 6, including an alleged return to Vice City. Up until now, these leaks have been generally unfounded, but a new teaser discovered in Red Dead Redemption 2 may give credence to what we have heard about GTA 6.
Earlier this week, content creator StrangeMan discovered what appeared to be a GTA 6 teaser within a point of interest in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). Near the Sea of Coronado, players can find a skeleton of a Jesuit Missionary called “Brother Rodolfo,” along with a rather interesting letter he brought. The letter mentions that Rodolfo was called to the east by God; however, the writer, Cardinal Blanco, begs him to stay in California and not leave the mission.

StrangeMan interprets this as an internal struggle between Rockstar games writer Dan Houser, represented by Cardinal Blanco, and creative Sam Houser, represented by Brother Rodolfo. Of course, the mention of staying in California over heading east is likely about continuing work on GTA 5 versus making GTA 6. Moreover, StrangeMan believes that the letter alludes to TakeTwo Interactive’s view of the GTA franchise and disagreements between Rockstar and the publisher.

However, “Cardinal Blanco,” or Dan Houser, mentions that sticking with GTA 5 or moving to GTA 6 has pros and cons, but he wants his brother Sam to stick around for a little while longer. Interestingly, it appears that StrangeMan does not really dive into the line that says, “Please stay in California until I arrive next March.” Perhaps this could mean that the team will reassess if they want to move forward with GTA 6, or it could simply be a red herring.
Despite the multiple possible meanings of this letter that StrangeMan goes over, it is quite interesting to see that GTA 6 is being discussed and there is possible debate over sticking with GTA V. As always, money talks, but if GTA 5 is beat to death, fans could lose interest in future titles. Either way, it will be interesting to see if Rockstar comments on the teaser, so stay tuned to HotHardware for updates.

Disclaimer: This was very likely an oversight or accident by my then-superior, I have little reason to believe his actions were intentional. However, I was still affected.
I ORDed already but this chain of events still bothers me today.
A branch/unit rule was that we needed to send in live locations when we were not in the camp when on WFH, MC, Medical Appointments, etc. to ensure we were either at home or at the medical facility (I am NOT against it, I think the superior needs to have this rule in place to cover themselves should anything happen to us outside of camp)
On the first day, it was introduced I sent my location privately to a superior, as I did not want to share my residential address in a whats app group, it was then it was forwarded into the group without my content or permission) and I was called out and asked to send future locations into the group, I was given no opportunity to highlight my preference for keeping my residential address private.
For context, I have personally been stalked at my place of residence before enlistment, I have received texts from random social media accounts telling me what time I left and arrived at the bus stop outside my block, and sometimes they even tell me my attire for that day.
I also have had cases of my piers (both fellow NSFs and acquaintances from my personal life) asking to borrow money after they found out I stayed in a condominium. I deleted and remade most of my social media accounts to prevent aggressive messages, and multiple police reports were made.
Due to my experience with being a victim of stalking, I take the privacy of my address very seriously. My mother has also been a victim of similar modes of stalking, it has become so bad that she does not even allow me to bring home friends I do not trust back, as she does not want people to know we stay in a condo.
My superiors were aware of the stalking I faced and an attempt by a fellow NSF to borrow money from me.
I was always scared to raise my concerns with my superiors. They have said if anyone fails to send in locations to the what's app group, they will cancel all WFH for all NSFs, thus I was unable to raise this up for fear of spoiling WFH for other NSFs. When I did voice this concern to another NSF, he began to use malicious language against me over texts, I felt it was borderline cyberbullying, he even said that the location sending was implemented as a result of my actions.
Stalking resumed, this time I was receiving threats via telegram (DISCLAIMER: It is entirely possible that the stalking resumed after I started sending in my locations into the group chat was purely coincidental, however, the timeline of events was still very suspicious and I was uncomfortable). I changed my phone number to safeguard myself. I also hid my new number on the telegram app.
Eventually, (much later) I managed to sit down and talk things out with my superior. He eventually allowed me to send in my location privately (after I threatened to formally complain). He also clarified that the new rule was not implemented because of me, contrary to what the other NSF said, so one of them must be lying, guess I'll never know who.
I am not against sending in my live locations, what I am against is sending residential locations to a what's app group where supervisors and NSFs who I either do not report to or trust can see. I feel that location updates should have been sent in via private means.
I understand my situation is very unique and many of you reading this would not have been stalked before.
I am out of NS now, and so far stalking has stopped. So mostly good news I guess. I am still pretty pissed that oversight has caused me so many headaches. I really just needed to let some of this anger out.
Of course, at the end of the day, NS is NS. We have to follow the rules set out no matter how annoying or stupid it is.

Before any conclusions, This is not a brag post (albeit I am proud of myself), as I generally am a below-average player.
I like dabbling in supporting teams, i.e. engineers, mortar teams, MG squads and assist other players. This often translates to overall poor scores.
On top of it I play on a laptop with integrated GPU, hence potato FPS, settings, and my overall performance (I suck in FPS in general anyways).
But today I had a battle of Moscow fight, where in USSR team we were defending in those wooden houses. I placed DSHK immediately upon spawning, ordered my AI to move 10-20 m in front to soak up first attack, and the rest of time I spent behind the seat of the HMG nest, save for 1 single shot from a rifle due to gun overheat.
Now maybe enemy players were complete noobs, but normally AI snipes me without an issue. I was not perfectly covered, and there was no more than 2 seconds at a time where I did not have to pull the trigger.

I wanted to ask you guys what is your experience with AI when you are in MG nests or behind other player built covers? I was under fire every so often but It felt like AI thought I'm 0,5 m offset to left or right at all times. With amount of kills involved, we won at 1st def cap, and I only was wounded once from a stray bullet.
I've attached reference SShot of my location on the map. I was protected with sandbag from MG in front, and some wood at the sides. I guess my allies helped me cover my flanks but still, I always would get sniped by AI or player within few seconds of firing.

A stampede of men forcing their way into a women's college in Delhi

UPDATE: The longer my posts stay up, the more trouble I can get into. There are forces at play in this situation that I cannot talk about but I'm not sure how long this post will stay up. Please, for God's sake, spread awareness about it while you can.
Yesterday, that is March 28 2023, was the second day of IPCW's annual fest, Shruti.
The first day had gone amazingly and our spirits were high. We had spent hours making plans about what to wear, what to buy, and what to eat. We were so happy about the concert that would happen at the end of the day.
When I think of how happy me and my friends were yesterday morning, I feel absolutely shattered. We are terrified now. Our rights are being stripped away. Our safety has become a joke. Our college has suddenly transformed from a safe space for women to a dictatorial space where the administration does not give a shit about student's safety.
It began around 3 PM when the gates were scheduled to close. A large crowd of HUNDREDS gathered outside the college premises. They were getting agitated, shoving each other, and before we know it, the gates were PUSHED wide open.
The crowd was so bad that for a solid 15 minute period, people could not close the gates. No checking could be done. Anyone who pleased, without any checking or passes or safety, invaded our college campus.
Students were trampled in the stampede. Many suffered from fractured bones. Student Union members were manhandled. Word on the street is that one of them has been injured so badly that she will need surgery. People had to be rushed to the nearby hospital in stretchers, wheelchairs, and ambulances.
Multiple women were inappropriately touched. People attempted to tear off their clothes. So many women fainted from the trauma of being trampled and molested.
If that was not enough, the men did not stop. Drunk and high men started scaling our walls. They attempted to break a second entry gate at the back of the on-campus hostel to invade our space further. We saw men emerging from the back lawns of the hostel after climbing up the walls.
Sounds terrible? It was. But it only gets worse.
Once the college authorities realized that the crowd was unmanageable (the police arrived extremely late to the scene, obviously), their plan of action was WONDERFUL— lie to students that the fest has been cancelled to force them out of the college.
Expectedly, most of these rowdy men did not bother listening to orders but a large proportion of women were thrown out of our campus and into the streets where large crowds of uncontrolled men were still around.
Hostel women were forcefully locked into the hostel building "to ensure their safety". Because locking women is obviously easier than finding and controlling the perpetrators, right? Drunk and high men continued to roam around the campus for hours while the faculty and police officers tried searching for them in vain.
Pictures were circulated of these men to no avail. Our college campus has always been a safe haven for women. Suddenly, we were being warned to travel in groups and stick to the crowded areas. It was a woman's worst nightmares come true, all in one day.
Apparently, a second year student got really badly molested during this entire incident. I can only pray that that poor girl recovers from the trauma of this all some day.
Oh, and the cherry on top? After all, the concert continued. Most IPCW women could not attend, of course, because we were thrown out of our own college. Some who had stuck around for 4-5 hours outside the college and others who lived in the off-campus hostel were allowed re-entry. But a large majority could not enjoy their own fest.
Who could enjoy under such circumstances anyway? Me and my friends spent the entire evening sticking close to our department's teachers because it was just so difficult to shake off the fear and violation we were experiencing.
Obviously, after all the mismanagement, our principal had the audacity to dance and celebrate during the concert, the injured and traumatized be damned. Few weeks of her new administration and our college is already turning into a right wing space— our walls are being painted saffron, our logo has been changed, the college's apolitical identity is being stripped away, and now this institute has utterly failed to keep its own students safe.
Do you think the story ends here? Because I wish it did.
Today, that is March 29 2023, we, the students of IPCW, organized a peaceful protest outside the college premises in light of the outrageous events that had transpired the day before. We wanted to be heard. We wanted to reclaim our safe space. We demanded answers from the administration that had failed us so badly.
But our right to assemble and demonstrate peacefully was also stripped away from us.
The same institution that could not arrange adequate security yesterday to ensure our safety had arranged for officers from the police force and paramilitary to be present today. Peacefully protesting students were manhandled by the women officers and have now been detained.
This is a cry for help. Please be aware of what is happening in one of the finest universities of this country. Please be aware of how women are being stripped of their rights and their dignity is being utterly violated in their safe spaces. Please be aware of how the administration has been failing us again and again and again.
Please be aware.

I was just on another reddit sub arguing about how SW shouldn't be normalised and was called anti-feminist as per usual as well as likened to a rape apologist. It makes me sick tbh.
SW will never be like any other job as much as people love to believe. Let's say a single mum goes to the job centre. Should they recommend SW to her? Sure, she can decline it but then she'll be wondering if she's doing a disservice to her children by not accepting the job because after all it's just like a normal job, is it not? And sure, desperate women already go into SW. What this whole SWIW movement does however, is push more women who previously wouldn't even consider it into the industry.
As for those who can't stop promoting the idea that SW has been so good for them, to me, they're just like the tories they love deriding — personal profits above all else.
They don't care about how normalising it affects other women, they don't care about ex SW who talk about how damaging the experience was for them, they don't care about how all women (especially attractive, young women) are now seen as potential SW (just look at the OFSTED reports and the Everyone's Invited thing to see examples like how male classmates already assume their female classmates will be on OF the moment they turn 18).

Jihadists are not looking to topple the west with a car bomb. Their goal, in part, is to foment an anti-Muslim sentiment because they don’t want Muslim diaspora, they want Muslims as far away from Western culture as humanly possible. They want their people to be as concentrated as possible so as to exert maximum political and social pressure.
They want their brothers to come home.
For decades, the political right has done everything it can to make their numbers count more because they realize their party ceases to exist otherwise. The conservative demographic is dying, quite literally. Each new generation becomes less and less interested in their backwards asses but they’ve got a pretty big range of tricks to tip the scales away from democracy.
Gerrymandering. Redistricting. Closing voting locations. Cutting off the USPS at the knees to slow mail voting. VoterID. These are the first volleys in an assault on democracy.
What’s plan B if all the skullfuckery doesn’t result in a GQP caliphate?
Concentrate forces geographically. It’s better to hold all of the power in half the country than it is to hold no power across the nation. Concentration of forces itself is a force multiplier. In the case of the GQP, it also results in more groupthink because the differing views got run out of town.
Yes, progressives will suffer from concentrated groupthink as well, and that’s bad, it just isn’t their fscking goal.
It may seem backwards for a party to seemingly go out of its way to alienate the moderates and enrage its opponents. The political right’s plan for the next 20 years might be hidden in plain sight.

If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.
