Hello all! I’ve recently (within the last 2 months) reconnected with one of my oldest and best friends from HS after nearly 20 years. She and I were very good friends in those days—we had many mutual friends, common interests, and I actually took her to homecoming my senior year (she was a sophomore), but we never actually dated, despite both having major crushes on each other. After HS, we kinda drifted apart as friends often do (I left our small town to join the Navy in the early 00s, and she left shortly thereafter as well.) We became Facebook friends probably about ten years ago, but never really interacted with each other’s posts, etc. I’ve always had very deep feelings for her, but I’d just assumed too much time had elapsed and that I’d never actually see her again. At the time we became Facebook friends, I was married and starting a family, etc., and she was in relationships as well, which is probably why we never really talked despite being friends.
Two months ago, that all changed. I came out on FB as a trans woman, and she reached out and left me a very sweet comment offering her love and support, which had me bawling my eyes out. I reached out via Messenger to thank her for her kind words, etc., and we began messaging each other almost daily via Messenger and Snapchat. We’ve discovered that we both still have very deep feelings for each other, and a LOT more in common than we’d ever realized. She then shared with me that she suffers from bipolar disorder (as well as other mental health issues). I also shared my mental health issues (ADHD, PTSD, gender dysphoria, anxiety, depression, etc.), and expressed my empathy and support, which she greatly appreciated, yet another thing we’ve bonded over.
As the past two months have gone by, I’ve started to get a glimpse of what bipolar looks like for her, the manic phases and nearly agoraphobic depression cycles. She’s shared a bit about how it’s cost her friendships and relationships with her family, etc., and how she seems doomed to keep losing people. All of which makes me want to reach out to her even more, as I understand what going through long periods of deep depression is like firsthand.
I guess what I’m looking for is guidance on how best to support her, and show her how much I love and care for her without triggering her episodes, smothering her when she needs space, etc. When her depressive episodes hit, she goes almost completely dark on social media (which is the only way I have contact with her right now.) As i mentioned, I have VERY deep feelings for her and I think I’m falling for her again. But I suppose I’m wondering how to proceed with supporting her when she goes silent. I so, so badly want to be there for her since most people have walked away from her, and it’s difficult feeling so helpless when I know that she’s hurting (distance is a factor at the moment, as well.) There's this guy, he and I are supposed to start out as friends, and if we like each other enough to move forward in the relationship, then that's on us. We've met a couple of times in person, but he lives a distance away from me, so scheduling a meet up is a bit of a chore. He is... a weird guy. I don't want to bash the guy, but he is moving so fast for me that I have to strongly put my foot down sometimes to get him to listen. For example, he would message me telling me, not asking me, telling me he's coming over (ive never told him my address, thank goodness) or we are going to hang out on this particular day, and he's just barreling through the conversation, sending rapid fire messages. And I think what he's trying to do, is hoping that I would just say yes to whatever he's saying, and then we'll have a date set, whether I actually want it or not. I double-checked everything, it's the same account I friended when I met him, same account that messages me everyday, same account that posted the picture.
Either, the guy is so technologically inept, that he figured no one would be able to find the pictures. Before I came to college I had a clear plan about what I wanted to do: study abroad, get back into dancing, and do well in school of course. Unfortunately covid took away any chances I had at studying abroad and my studies (neuroscience) made it difficult to dance as much as I wanted. While I don't regret picking neuroscience as my major, I do regret not prioritizing fun/social activities as much. Something that's also stressing me out is dating. The woman that oversees my job said it's a lot harder to find someone after college. I didn't date at all in college and I'm worried that I didn't prioritize it enough.
Anyways, it wasn't until my senior year when I started making conscious efforts to carve out at least one to two days a week to do something fun (attend club meetings on campus or attend dance classes off campus). I regret not doing that sooner. I definitely felt like a majority of my time was spent in the library, and as a result I started dealing with FOMO.
Overall I'd say my FOMO comes in waves. Senior year was when it was the worst, and as a result I felt like I had to squish as many experiences into that year as possible. I tried to dance more to make up for all the times that I wasn't able to, and I celebrated Halloween as a college student for the first time. I'm also trying to live my life with no regrets, but I regret not joining the cultural dance teams that were at my school. In the future I'm planning to go to graduate school to get my Masters, and maybe eventually get my PhD. I was hoping that I may be able to do more extracurriculars like that during those years, but I hear grad school is very intense and not very forgiving when it comes to time. As for studying abroad, I'm considering applying to graduate schools overseas, or at least vacationing there at some point.

Just thought I’d share an update incase anyone is thinking about starting their journey.
I had always been an on and off lurker on this sub, hoping to find inspiration and motivation to start my journey. I’m not exactly sure what clicked this time, but it’s been going great. I’m not entirely sure of my starting weight, but I know it was over 400lbs, and I’m pretty confident it was around 450lbs. I’m now at 315lbs after starting in October of 2022. And I feel great. 10hr work days used to leave me sore and tired, and now I feel fine after a long work day. Up until the last week, my entire weight loss had been through nutrition alone, along with having a job that keeps me walking between 5-10 miles a day. I finally joined a gym last week, and have gone daily except one day. If anyone would like to ask any questions, feel free to comment or DM.
On a side note, what kind of gym routines have you guys found to be successful. So far, I start out with some cardio (10-15 minutes on the stair stepper and 20 minutes on the treadmill with an incline). I then follow it with three sets on various weight machines. Does this seem like a good plan? I’m not hyper focused on certain muscle group days since at this point I just want to build overall muscles and continue losing weight. Also, I fully expected weight gain after starting to work out due to water retention. How long did this weight gain last for all of you? And did it gradually just go back down, or pretty quickly after a few weeks? I know it’s not fat gain since my diet is still on point and I’m for certain staying within my calorie limit (and I gained almost 6lbs the day following my first day at the gym).
Any advice is appreciated, and AMA about my journey. I’m more than willing to share.

For context, I've never been in a relationship. I was hoping to be able to get into one the past year. I did join a few organizations, but I usually didn't have enough time to foster said relationship. Online dating also sucks. There are tons of bars, but I'm not a bars guy. There are tons of new people to see, but they're relatively young.
