2023.03.21 21:43 SucculentMamma Aspen Tree

Your body is like an aspen tree.
Your long limbs and swirling hair,
Your thing frame and green eyes.
I want to hold you here in time.
What would I be like if you were mine?
Would I feel complete or like there’s
something missing I must yet find?
I find everything good in you.
You make me a better person.
I want to whisk you away to an
enchanted forest where we dance beside
the trees,
And I’m the only thing you see.
We could live there for eternity.
Just your eyes locked on mine,
And the golden fireflies,
And the aspen trees around us
Trying hard to reach the sky.

2023.03.21 21:41 aperdra Can I tell you a story about how I, stoned, accidentally stomped on my mother's fresh grave in front of her entire grieving family?

I wanna start by saying that I posted the other day about smoking through mother's day and I got some really lovely and considerate replies. So indulge me for a sec with this story cos I think it's hilarious.
I smoke very little. I vape, on a low setting and I use a half-chamber so I estimate I smoke less thab 0.25g per day. Whenever I smoke with others I'm always absolutely fucked and they're basically sober.
My brother and I had to go to scatter our mum's ashes on an oak tree in a very famous forest (think Robin Hood and his merry men). Our mum was schizophrenic and had narcissistic personality disorder so, as you can imagine, she had some trouble maintaining functioning relationships. By extension, she also had trouble with us maintaining relationships with family (jealousy, paranoia) so this meant we don't really know any of them. I've probably met these people 3 times in my life (I'm 27).
So we get there and my brother, being the heaviest smoker I know says "let's smoke a joint before we meet up with the family!" and I'm like "yeah that sounds like a great and fantastic idea let's do that" (side note, I have NO inhibition with the fun button).
Then we meet with the family, it's odd and tense. They had a lot of weird issues with the date of the scattering (three had been cancelled due to very reasonable reasons such as being covid positive, etc). In particular this one absolute cow called Lorraine who is my mum's cousin made my life very difficult the last few months.
I'm absolutely fucked at this point. Pretty sure everyone knows. Even my dog can tell and she's giving me the "what the fuck mum" face.
We go up to an oak tree (not the famous one obvs) and I start to awkwardly dig a hole. It's EXTREMELY windy and there are LOTS of ashes (no-one tells you there's like 10kg of ashes). So I'm digging and it's kinda hard and I have a comically small shovel so I'm like fuck it and start to pour the ashes in. The wind picks up. I'm like fuck fuck fuck, quickly shovel some dirt over the ashes. Then, not thinking at all cos I was blasted, I stomped very hard on the grave, maybe three four times.
Audible gasp (like old Hollywood GASPPPP!) from that witch Lorraine, low chuckle from other cousin who's def a stoner and the only sane one of the bunch and my brother looks at me like 😬😬.
After that I VERY quickly wrapped that shit up. Horrible Lorraine parted with a good old "I hope you have a great life" 😂 Then I went home and bought a caravan.
Anyway, just tried my first one hitter so if this all sounds bizarre in a bad way, that's why hahaha.
Thanks for reading friends!

Roasted Mackerel [homemade]
Today I went to Hastings in East Sussex, United Kingdom and went to the excellent fisheries on Rock-a-Nore road in the old town. I procured, among other things, this fine specimen of super-fresh mackerel, which I stuffed with lemon and fresh thyme then roasted with new potatoes, sweet peppers, cherry tomatoes, capers and olives. Pretty damn delicious. 🐟

2023.03.21 21:40 Fellwarre Do your balls tingle when you see someone get hurt?

Okay, so I'm kind of asking specifically about watching those "Fail" type videos, where someone gets dumped on their balls, or their head, or is riding a bike and smashes into a tree, or something like that.
Yesterday at work lunch someone showed me one of those videos and I went, "Oh, shit, I felt that in my balls!" and the person who showed me the video agreed, but the three other guys at the table looked at us like we were psychopaths.
We got into a long conversation about actually feeling a tingling in the bottoms of our nutsacks when we saw a video like that (similar to the feeling you got when you suddenly dip down a hill while in a car as a kid.)
It made me curious about why one man would get that and another wouldn't (similar to the piss-shiver discrepancy.)

Biography

Youth
Cassander Costayne was born in 163 AC to Lord Corwyn Costayne and his lady wife, Rhea Vyrwel. It was a difficult pregnancy that took a lot out of Rhea, but conversely, he was far from a difficult child. On the contrary, he was almost too easy. He was quiet, reserved, incurious, and generally meek enough to prevent him from getting his infant self into trouble. There was an unmistakable malaise of spirit that hung about him, but elsewise, his early youth was utterly uneventful.
He was as quiet as a child as he was as a babe. Little and less interested him. From his various studies to his training with blade and lance was was right for boys of his age, to trapping and hunting, riding and racing, nothing could seem to crack the hard shell of melancholy he had been shrouded in since infancy. Nothing except his younger siblings, that is. Of his relationship with Casper and Casella Costayne, none had seen a closer pair of youths, thick as thieves. The three participated in all sorts of various headache inducing antics at the chagrin of all those who were subjected to them. Something about the two brought about a completely different side of him. Time spent with them comprises some of the few genuinely happy memories from before Cassander's majority.
Adolescence and Majority
As Cassander bloomed into his majority, he underwent a series of physical changes as all did. He shot up in height, and just seemed to keep growing, far surpassing the height of his own father. His voice dropped, his features elongated and sharpened. The downy fuzz that coated his body grew coarse and dark, especially on his face, where by the age of six and ten he had an impressively full beard. His shoulders broadened, stout and powerful. For many, it was the picture of luck, of manhood and the blessings he had been bestowed by the Seven, but it seemed to do little, if anything, to tamper the constant melancholy that shrouded Cassander. If anything, it only amplified it over time.
This melancholy grew and grew with time, nourished by circumstance. First, the sending of his younger brother and sister to the Hightower, one to serve as a squire to Harrold Hightower, and the other, to serve as a lady-in-waiting Ceryse Hightower. With Casper and Casella gone, he was notably worse for the wear as he continued his education and his training in the yard.
The depressive state Cassander lived in perpetually was worsened greatly by the passing of his younger brother. During a hunt, Casper took a fall from his horse, landing in an ankle-deep brook. The fall had knocked him unconscious, and before anyone could understand what was happening, he had inhaled enough water to breathe his last. Despite having little and less to do with the accident, it drove a rift between Cassander and Casella, one that remains to this day. In his grief, however, one thing did help to mitigate the storm; his infant niece, Casper's only surviving heir, Coryanne. Without child himself, and with no indication that he would be marrying soon, he seamlessly shifted to become the child's caretaker. Cassander doted on her as though she were his own, and was extraordinarily overprotective of the child in her tender years.
Ten years went by without event, until the passing of Lord Corwyn Costayne. With his ascension to Lordship of Three Towers, Cassander has named Coryanne his heir, despite the uproar it caused. She left shortly after, to reside in Oldtown beneath their overlords, and to educate herself in matters of statecraft and numbers.

2023.03.21 21:39 Spoodersss LPT: When eating olives or dates, always go slowly on the first bite.

I've had to train myself over the years after chipping my tooth on a date. When you're biting into an olive, date, pitted cherry, etc. there are often pits or seeds left over that didn't get caught in processing. Make sure to bite very slowly so if this happens, you're not experiencing the sheer terror and pain of rapidly clamping down on a rock hard piece of shit that wants to fuck up your entire day.
Just bit into a date that had a pit and remembered I do this, probably saved myself from instant death.

With their new leaves I was wondering if there was any way to automate the collection of apricorns with these new leaves, the only automatic apricorn farms I have seen are using the create mod which I don’t really want to put into my pixelmon world.
If anyone has any farm designs I would greatly appreciate it if you could share it with me.

2023.03.21 21:37 joshuamunson Removing a tree with a plant stake inside

Hey everyone! Thought I'd get some advice from those with more knowledge than I. I have a cherry tree in my yard ~1ft in diameter. It was planted well before I came around. I know that when it was planted they used a metal plant stake and wire to hold it upright. Well X years later and the tree has fully engulfed the stake. The tree has come to its end of life and needs to be cut down. Any suggestions on how to go about it? Is that something a myself, or even a local company, can manage?

2023.03.21 21:37 HasSomeSelfEsteem I watched Ken Russel’s ‘The Devils’ last night and I’m struggling to process it

Before the horror police charge me with “it’s not a horror film” I’d like to say that’s true, but given how transgressive it is I thought this sub would be best suited for it.
First, the set design and visuals are stunning. I haven’t seen sets this engaging and alienating since Suspiria. The white tile fortifications, the circular rooms, the black and foreboding churches, the whole set design did a fantastic job of making the world feel distant and unreal. Likewise the costumes are bizarre and sexual in strange ways.
Then there’s the acting, good god the acting. Oliver Reed gives an unbelievable performance in this movie. He’s like this snake coiling in on itself. He starts as this lecherous chauvinist who manipulates the women he has control over yet somehow by the end of the film is this sympathetic, even admirable, martyr for conscience. The whole cast is fantastic, but Reed is unbelievable.
If I had one complaint it’s that the story feels like it’s trying to have its cake and eat it to with the setting. The film is “set” in 17th century France under the rule of Louis the 14th and Cardinal Richelieu, but the visual style and takes on the characters try their hardest to make the setting new and alien. Sometimes the political intrigue feels very removed from the setting because we’re supposed to have our own historical understanding of King Louis and Cardinal Richelieu and their motivations, but then also just accept that this King Louis is a gay cross dressing cabaret enthusiast who enjoys shooting Protestants for sport.
This movie would be a shit show if it weren’t for the strength of the performers and the beauty of the visuals.
What are your thoughts?

2023.03.21 21:37 Avavvav Is this age regression or an alter?

So, I've been trying to see if it's possible I have did/osdd. It's been... very difficult for me since it isn't so easy to diagnose like depression or anxiety, which I was able to accurately self diagnose (I know it's accurate because fast forwards from the self diagnosis to now, I'm prescribed anxiety and depression meds). But this isn't so easy.
But there is one thing I do know. I age regress. Or have a child alter. Whichever one.
Before I get to the question, here's some backstory. I remember one day, maybe a year ago (meaning I was 18/19 years old), where I was sitting at my grandparent's house and on the verge of a breakdown. I was anxious. However, I knew about age regression. My partner at the time did it. So I tried it, too. I know there is a difference between age regression and a child alter. But I cannot tell which this is...?
First off, I can... somewhat control age regression, or maintain control of this body (whichever it is). But... there's a bit of amnesia.
Oftentimes when I am done age regressing, or whatever it is, I remember... bits and pieces of what happened, but not a lot. Oftentimes I'd ask "how'd she behave?" after I'm done. It isn't quite forgetting 100% that I was a child, or that there was a child alter controlling me, rather all I know is the first and last step, with a sprinkling of hints. I remember feeling younger, and then I remember being back to my current age, with a few splotches of memory in between.
To make an analogy for the amnesia, it's like I went to walk into a forest. Not I'm here. All I remember is that I walked into the forest, I remember that I'm here now, and maybe I remember "I turned left at this tree, and right at that tree, and passed straight by the tree with a heart carved into it."
I also remember one day thinking, as my current age (a year ago so again 18/19) "Oh that's what it is," meaning I've done it before. Which I don't remember, but I apparently remembered doing it before. I even vaguely remember being... almost happy at the realization that I've done it multiple times in my past.
So, I need to know. Is this an alter, or me age regressing?
And be honest. I'm looking for honesty, only.

2023.03.21 21:36 Bianca_Van_Rensburg Human centered design

Human centered design
Human-centered design looks at creating environments and spaces for the needs of the people where the end result must be considered. It is essential to understand the people you are designing for where the function is evaluated before the form. The area that you are creating has a direct impact on the people it is intended for, and the context is crucial because it shows the purpose and function of the design. The buildings that do not follow the principle of human-centered design are put at a disadvantage where the users of the space are not fully catered for, and additional changes will have to be made further along. However, the area will never indeed be ideal for the intended use. It is vital for designers to plan how a space will work before construction or final additions are made. This is why the main problems must be identified and focused on; the intended user is the basis of the design and must be considered, all aspects must be cohesive and mesh well together as independent systems will not work, and lastly, trials and evaluations are essential for it to be the best environment for the people. Designers should be fully involved in the designs they create, and the plans that are made must be socially and politically progressive, not just economically based (Björgvinsson et al., 2012). There are real benefits to human-centered design, and they can be implemented in different scenarios. The four areas focused on are human-centered design in businesses, public spaces, private spaces and homes where technology plays a significant role, and rural developments.

Fig 1. Human Centered Design Principles (Net Solutions, 2020)

Human-centered design in businesses is favourable because they target two groups of people which are employees and customers. Employees are looked after when the space is designed specifically for the duties that need to be carried out. The human-centered design also looks at making the workplace more inclusive, which in turn helps workers to feel the company cares and values them. Younger employees are less likely to stay at a job they are not enjoying. Millennial managers also play a role in how the business is constructed, and they are more open to a flexible work environment where the people who work for the company are thought about in the way the space is designed (Rosa & Hastings, 2018). Customers are also considered when carrying out human-centered design as they are fundamental for a company’s profit. Often existing buildings are used for commercial spaces where they need to be flexible for a variety of different tasks, but it is sometimes forgotten what people need to thrive in the area that they are in to maximize productivity. There are regulations set out for what needs to be adhered to in an office, such as the amount of natural light and ventilation required. It is so easy for businesses to overlook how to creatively use a room without reducing floor space when money is the main objective. Our employees are the direct link to customers, which will affect the profit made. Human-centered design is the future of the workplace as it will benefit the gain of the business and reduce staff turnover.

Fig 2. The power of human-centered design to understand customer journeys (Territory, 2022)

Public spaces can also use human-centered design and can overlap with the theory of urban design. Urban design looks at people and places, and it involves building spaces and landscapes with an integrated design and how they each affect the movement pattern of an area. Urban design combined with human-centered design can increase the social interaction of a space where it becomes more accessible for people to use. (Urban Design Committee, 2015) physical planning is essential, but how it will affect the people it is intended for is crucial to the success of the plan (Rand, 1969). Many public spaces do not end up working for many reasons, one of the biggest causes being that rooms were designed to be looked at rather than used. Often some features to look out for are when a space is not inviting to people; there are not enough places to sit, and not enough options both in the sun or the shade and having unclear or hidden entrances. As designers, it is so important to think about the user of the space and how they will interact with it, public areas must be easy to see, and the person must be able to get in. Places that are designed for people must value the function rather than solely focusing on the aesthetic. Lastly, why public spaces do not end up working as well as planned because paths are not designed for where people want to go; they either lead to a dead end, or they do not connect to the right places. In South Africa, to be more specific, our public spaces are not being utilized to their full potential and for the intended use; this is mainly because of safety issues as well as the majority of people using cars to get around, and these spaces are built around the dominance of vehicles. This leads to a lack of crossroads and sidewalks that are not wide enough. (Project for Public Spaces, 2009). People want life to be as simple as possible, and when an area makes it easier to get around in a car rather than walking, more people will choose that option. This ultimately deters people from wanting to use the space. This makes it very clear why human-centered design is so crucial in the planning stage of any design. The main aim is for a space to be used in the most efficient way. The human-centered design takes time because the use of the area needs to be determined, but issues like deadlines and budget eventually affect the final plan. When designing and planning, the physical conditions of space are vital to take into consideration, but the reason behind people's activities in the public sphere has a more considerable influence on how the space will be used in the future. Spaces need to be more approachable, which is why human-centered design is more valuable to spend time and money on for more public spaces.

Fig 3. Placemaking Through Public Infrastructure (Karnath, 2021)

The design has always been popular in homes to customize the space exactly how the client wants it. People come to their homes every day, and these spaces will influence us. They need to follow the function set out for them, but it should also be a healthy environment. The human-centered design allows positive long-term well-being. This way of designing is not a movement but rather a proposal to make designing better for the people using the space. Our environments are constantly changing, especially with the developments of technology. Our spaces need to support that. There is then a direct link between technology and human-centered design as they both make the user's life easier, so when it comes to designing homes, both need to be considered and work in conjunction (Purkayastha, 2022). The internet has changed the home environment, and people no longer need to leave their homes to be connected to the physical media; they can now stay home to view the news, magazines or even books. Homes directly link people to their devices. With the advancements in technology, designers must take a modern approach when planning how a space will work. Technology can also be used for older people who require assistance, and the way a space is designed for them is crucial. It is essential to make life easier for them, and housing is a basic need. A space can be designed with a specific user in mind. (Guihen, B. 2016). It is essential to look at what makes a worthwhile user experience. Functionality must be considered first so the interaction and usability can be focused on to achieve the intended objective in the most effective way. The next stage is to see how to design specifically for the user experience. The basic needs of the person must be fulfilled, and this happens when the designer keeps close communication with the client to find this out. Designers need to plan for experiences that are happening now and future experiences. This is why a combination of technology must be used but also empathy and emotion from the designer. Technology can control many design elements, for example, lighting, which has a significant impact on the mood of the user. Once you know what makes a design user-friendly and the needs of the client, the user experience must then be merged into everyday life. This is the challenge designers will be faced with because it deals with highly personal aspects, and it will directly impact the social dynamics of family life in a home. Intelligent devices can eventually lead to people competing for attention, and this is why designers need to create an environment where technology is not overpowering the home. Calm technology or calm design is where the technology and the user work together where it is in the user's periphery rather than constantly at the center of attention. Therefore, designers, through human-centered design, can better the everyday life of people and enhance their well-being (Eggen et al., 2016).

Fig 4. Do We Need Human-Centered Design in Data Products? (Panchenko, 2022)

When it comes to implementing a human-centered design in rural developments, the first thing to consider is precisely what issue or problem will be targeted. There are many more significant issues found in rural areas, like sanitation and agriculture, compared to the private sector that can't be solved as quickly. However, human-centered design is all about improving spaces for people, even on a smaller scale, for it to be more user-friendly. Some more common issues that are faced in rural areas are restricted access to health care, poor infrastructure and cultural stigmas. This may be challenging for designers as it may limit them from making specific design choices. When entering rural communities, designers need to understand that they live pretty differently compared to people living in urban areas or cities. The problems they face are different in many ways. Their basic needs need to be fulfilled first. All of the issues community members face in rural developments directly impact their health and wellness. Most designers avoid these areas because of the extreme difficulty of lack of resources, impractical working conditions, and the methods of construction where it may require the need to train people locally in the area, which takes time and limitations in budget. Designers must understand the history of the place they are designing for. It is not about replacing what is already there but rather improving existing systems. It is essential to understand the lifestyles of the rural community members (Gaur, 2022). Communication between the designer and the people you are designing for is vital because when specific issues are brought up, solutions can be created which end up being more sustainable and cost-efficient as they target the direct issue. Design can change lives when it answers the problems real people are facing. By going to rural communities, we give people a voice where their future will be positively impacted. The possibility human-centered design can provide is why it should be used. The information gathered can be highly beneficial for not only future plans but existing systems as well (iDE Using Human-centered Design to Discover Solutions to Poverty, 2022).

Fig 5. village background illustration (Luchimargar, 2022)

When it comes to human-centered design, the most significant reasons not to execute this problem-solving technique are time and money limitations. After looking at the four areas of businesses, public spaces, private spaces and rural developments, one can see human-centered design would benefit each scenario. Some areas are harder to control or implement this design tool, but with each sector, straightforward ways to improve people's lifestyles will help. Human-centered design looks at constructing and planning for the people and understanding their issues is vital for an effective strategy. The design makes innovation and productivity possible. It is now determined that problem-solving and knowledge about the generation you are designing for are key (Hobday et al., 2012). The issues of money restrictions can be solved if more time is spent considering the user as the design becomes more cost-effective and sustainable. Often structures are too complex for the issue they have been tasked to solve. Simple techniques work out the problems people face on a daily basis. For the future to thrive, design needs to revolve around the people that use them.

Lovepedal - Plexi 100 Pro v Purple Plexi?
There's a local seller offering a gold Plexi Pro 100. Does anyone know what the key differences are between the this circuit and the Purple Plexi?
I don't know the Lovepedal family tree but from what I've read, these plexi pedals are all variants of the COT (Church of Tone) circuit.
I couldn't find a side by side comparison of the PP-100 and the Purple. The controls seem to indicate that the PP-100 has fixed gain (sensitivity and bias knobs?), while the Purple has standard volume and tone. Anyways sorry for the lazy question, I just couldn't find a straightforward answer. Thanks

2023.03.21 21:34 defares Versatile character?

I'm new to the game, and I've been looking around for builds to get more into things. But the problem I've encountered is that everyone says to pick a build a follow it religiously at first. Get these skills, look for this item, and play the exact same way until I make another character.
I've been playing a Witch for a bit and enjoyed trying out all the various skills she has available. And I think that's kind of what I'm looking for, a character that is a bit more versatile than a single build centered around a single source of damage. I want to be able to reconfigure a bit without using a hundred Orbs of Regret, not to have all skills and master none but at least be able to juggle a few skills and preferably playstyles around.
Basically is there any builds or directions that for instance have more versatile passive trees that are useful for multiple builds while still being decently good? Some build, class, passive tree where I can just prioritize x, y, z attributes in passives and items and have a decent character that can go trough the game trying skills in a gem color or two. If the passives tree was easily reconfigurable I would just jump in head first, but now I think I want a solid foundation to explore from.

2023.03.21 21:33 annoyingstupidbody 35 [M4F] UK - Roll the bones

Hi, hello. One 35 year old boring, jaded male seeking equally dull and cynical female for special relations, emphasis on the special part.
It needs to be said that I'm only looking for someone in the UK or relatively nearby. Flights are expensive and long distance relationships are hard. When the oceans dissipate or Elon lets us use his rockets I'll consider something further afield, but until then I am simply a yokel. I'd also like to add a specific disclaimer that I am not actually a tour guide for temporary visitors to the UK. Sorry.
I've lived a life, been through the storm and out the other end and now I'm hoping to find a little something to make my big everything. I've been up, I've been down, but I'm still around. Somehow, someway, I am still me and I've reconciled with me the way for me to be. I am not a success, whatever that means, and I don't always know the way; but I have confidence that between us we can chart a course. I don't have all the answers but I sure can pretend I do for you or pretend I don't and have that be okay. I'm salt cured and partially chewed by wild animals but under that grimy crust there is still something tender.
I'm searching for romance. I don't mean modern sitcom romance, I mean where art thou for I much desire to speak with thee romance. In short, I want to be vulnerable with you. We spend our lives worrying away the good things until all that's left is dust and memories. I don't want that for us. I want us to be a full-bodied entwining like old trees until we're petrified in time, forever a monument to how it's supposed to be done. The roots go deep and it's difficult to tell where I begin and you end. There's innuendo in there somewhere too.
More seriously though, I'm looking for someone that is an open book. I respect delivery if the package is honesty, no matter how much it hurts. Integrity is all we have in this life and without it we are nothing. Say what you mean and mean what you say. We all have history and that's okay, but communication is key to success. A relationship is a team game and I like to win. Be a warrior poet and lets write an epic.
Looks don't matter to me, but attraction is important. It's an unfortunate reality but worth mentioning so we don't labour under illusion. I'm content with what I look like and maybe even a bit beyond that. Ideally, you would be the same. I have insecurities and things about myself that I work on, so it's okay if you do too, but don't don't be consumed by it because you are more than that as a person. Also if you have pets, it's your humanitarian duty to surrender their pictures to me.
I try to be thoughtful. I have a big brain that I use to try to be considerate of needs. I like to listen. I have a dark and/or crude sense of humour. I find most things to be funny but for all the wrong reasons. I have my moments of depression but tend to have a solid grasp on it these days. I want to be serious about you while poking holes in everything else.
I'm extremely driven. I have my passion and while I am not quite there yet, it is a clear trajectory. I am single, and have been for a long time by choice. I live with family by choice. I have no children or desire to have them. I have no ghosts or skeletons hanging around. What you get is one whole me with nothing unpleasant attached. One person to make of or do with as you wish.
Me: Hiking, nature, most forms of media specifically movies and music, games, cooking, gardening, writing, art in various forms, animals.
You: Like me but with lady rump to go with my sugar lumps. Must be able to laugh at fart jokes. Must enjoy warm bodies.

So it goes.

2023.03.21 21:32 SpellBlue A suggestion to make melee weapons and magic more "fun"

Now after each swing your weapon lose 1 durability and you need to drop 3 shells from crabs to craft 1 stone that give your weapon +10 durability.
For magic you lose 1 focus each time you cast a spell and need to drop 3 focus weed from some walking trees(new mob) in order to make a focus drug that give +10 focus.
Sounds fun, right?
No?
Well, lucky us the devs didn't decide to use this approach for any type of weapon, right?
