2023.03.21 21:56 Significant_Potato29 Everything in the books is 20 feet
I noticed that "twenty feet" is a very common measurement in the books. I have the complete collection on my Kindle, so I searched "twenty feet" and noticed it's used about 23 times in the series. It seems so arbitrary that everything is measured in that specific distance. I can list a few examples.
SS: Neville shoots up on his broom twenty feet
Cos: The gnome flies 20 feet in the air
Cos: Twenty feet from Hagrids house
Cos: George was 20 feet above Angelia during quidditch
Cos: The basilisk skin is 20 feet long
GoF: Peeves is 20 feet above everyone
GoF: Hungarian Horntail can shoot fire at a range of 20 feet
GoF: Giants are 20 feet tall
GoF: Maze walls are 20 feet high
GoF: Cedric's body is 20 feet away

2023.03.21 21:55 Valuable-Banana96 I wrote a modular and versatile fiendoid player race called the Balphour. Thoughts?
Balphour
The Balphour are fiendoids that result when two other fiendoids try to have a kid that are of incompatible parentage, such as an Abyssal tiefling and a Baatoran Tiefling, or a demon and a cambion. Highly mutable in physiology, no two Balphour look alike. One might look like a halfling-sized bat with an insectoid carapace and dragonfly wing membranes, another might look like an ape with the head of a hippo and the horns of a bull, another might look like a humanoid mantis with snake eyes, and another still might even look simply like a tiefling with three sets of horns. Stranger still, they are not true-breeding, so two conceiving Balphour will likely produce a child with the features of neither. Most Balphour women without access to divination magic don’t even learn whether their womb lays eggs or gives birth until their first pregnancy. Creature Type: Humanoid
Size: Medium or Small. (Small Balphour may take the Squat Nimbleness feat).
Speed: 30ft.
Ability Score Increase: You may choose to increase your Charisma score and two other ability scores of your choice by one each, to increase your Charisma score by two and one other ability score of your choice by one, or to increase your Charisma score by three.
Languages: You may speak, read, and write Common and your choice of Abyssal or Infernal. You may also opt to spend 1 Balphour point to speak, read, and write all three.
Mutable Physiology: A given Balphour might have emerged from a number of possible feindoid pairings on a number of possible planes with a number of possible anatomical features and a number of possible upbringings. As such, you have 17 Balphour Points to spend on the table of features below:
- Wings (flying speed equal to walking speed) 15pts [NOTE: you cannot fly while wearing medium or heavy armor].
- Thick skin\* (resistance to choice of Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Poison, Necrotic, Force, Psychic, or Thunder damage) 4pts.
- Innate Spellcasting\* (choice of cantrip from the warlock spell list. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it) 4pts.
- Exoskeleton (natural armor equal to 13+dex) 3pts.
- Claws/fangs/horns/big fists (natural weapons. 1d4/6/8+Str damage. Choose between bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage) 1/2/3pts (+1pt if the natural weapon is one that would free up a hand, such as horns or a stinger tail).
- Educated\* (proficiency in choice of any skill or tool) 2pts per skill, 1pt per tool.
- Darkvision 30ft. 2pts.
Once you have made your selection, decide how your character’s appearance reflects it.

2023.03.21 21:45 Low-Situation-7518 MY RAINBOW BRIDGE 3 RANKING🌈🌈🌈 This was so fucking hard to rank cuz all the songs are S tier… let me know how y’all feel about this list
2023.03.21 21:35 ocdhater It just gets harder and i dont know why
My OCD Experince
Here is some background. When I was a child this started out on a minor scale. My earliest memory of OCD was walking out of my room if I thought about my least favorite baseball player Chase Utley, and walking back into my room while thinking of my favorite one instead, David Wright. If I tried to ignore this urge I would get extremely antsy and have to give in. However this eventually went away through me telling myself “This is all in your head”. Years passed and I was fine until December 2021. Late December the ocd became religious, despite me not necessarily being a ‘word for word by the bible Christian’. I began feeling as if I was not worthy of my current life and its perks, along with the people who love me due to past things I had did. In January of 2022 I confessed to my parents of what I did (I would rather not mention it as it is strictly a family matter) and was forgiven by them. However my OCD did not go away, making me realize the mental hardship I was going through was not just guilt, but OCD, Anxiety, and depression ( which was professionally diagnosed.) I have tried therapy twice, once before medication, which did not work, and another time after in September of 2022 which did not work. Anyway, as time progressed from January, I tried therapy, which made things worse in my opinion. I then became hospitalized in February, as my building OCD urges took over my life to the point I was afraid to move from my bed. I could not do anything for myself, and could not stop crying out of fear that I was disrespecting God and the Christian faith, as well as fearing death and going to hell rather than Heaven as a result. They could not do much for me, providing me with pills that made me tired and that’s it. I eventually received a psychiatrist in late February or March (I do not remember when as my brain has blocked out much of early 2022) I was prescribed clonazepam 1mg, fluoxetine, and aripiprazole, later switching to just the ladder two when I changed physiatrist for insurance reasons. I was perfectly back to normal staring from late March-April all the way to August when it returned again. I have gained so much weight from a combination of medications and not wanting to workout due to medications making me gain weight/making me tired. I used to be 5’8 and 175-80ish pounds of nearly pure muscle, and am now well over 230 and have no motivation to do anything about it. Since august I have tried numerous medications to no avail, which leads me to today, and with each passing day, it feels slightly worse and worse and I fear I’m reaching a breaking point again.
My OCD occurs through nearly everything, but mostly when doing things I do a lot. Such as walking in and out of rooms or cars, flipping light switches, putting on or taking off articles of clothing, using the restroom, opening and closing things, picking things up and putting them down, typing, washing my hands, touching/hugging/kissing people I care about, and sometimes even putting things in my mouth when I eat or drink.
Here is an example of the average OCD I encounter:
*walks into room* *must thing of Jesus, if I do not, or worse, think of the ‘other guy’, I will die and go to hell instead of Heaven* *if I feel the presence of my middle finger, genital region, or behind during this thought process, I must start over while feeling a neutral part of my body such as a pointer finger* *After this (usually takes numerous attempts) Must think of neutral name or person so I do not insult Jesus in case I feel the presence of my middle finger, genital region, or behind afterwards. Examples of neutral names would be that of baseball players such as Shohei Ohtani, celebrities, etc.* *If successful, proceed with day, if not, start over again from the top*
This is just an example, it can occur when thinking/seeing/hearing/touching of any religious words, objects, or things, and can occur doing any of the things I listed in the paragraph above the example. I NEED to respect all Christian things or terrible things will happen to me and my loved ones. And if I see or think of the opposite of Christian things, I need to see Christian version to correct and cleanse myself otherwise I will essentially be worshiping the opposite religion (Despite knowing this is not true and you cannot ‘accidentally’ worship something else, my brain acts as if that is true). This is my though process and I hate it. This also goes for death, as if I see/think of/hear the word death or anything related, I would prefer to see/think of/hear Life, as my brain makes me think that if I do not see it, I will die soon or someone close to me will. I count nearly everything I do, and if I attempt to do something and it lands on a number I deem bad, I have to start over. Sometimes these ritualistic things take dozens of attempts before I feel comfortable and it makes me so frustrated, sad, and scared. Sometimes I cry or punch myself in the head trying to fix things.
In my brain there are three categories, Good, bad, and neutral. All words, things, thoughts, and images fall into these categories. If I see/heafeel/think a ‘bad’ thing, I must correct it by seeing/hearing/feeling/thinking of a ‘good’ thing. Then in order to not disrespect the ‘good’ thing accidentally as I go on with my day, I must see/heafeel/think a neutral thing, as I do not care what occurs to the neutral thing, if that makes any sense.
Examples of words and things I want to or don’t want to see/think/hear
Negative: Devil, Satan, Lucifer, Pentagram, Satanist, Satanism, Allah, death, dying, color red (sometimes), hell, fire, 666, Koran/Quaran
Neutral: Shohei, Water, Mets, 000
Positive: Jesus, God, Holy Spirit, Christian, Christianity, Cross, Life, 555, Bible
I want to get back to a point where I can see negative or positive things and move on with my day without stopping to denounce/correct or worship said things. I do not want to be hyper aware of every body part I feel on myself. I do not want to count my every step and everything I do. I want to stop crying and hitting myself in the head out of frustration and hatred of my brain. I want to be comfortable in my own skin, and for my head to stop hurting from stress that my own stupid brain causes me all the time.

2023.03.21 21:33 Everything4Everybody Tarrasque can be killed RAW!
Hey Everybody!
I often see posts and comments on this subreddit about how Tarrasque cannot be permanently killed using RAW, and I've made a few comments here and there talking about how it can be done, but since it keeps coming up I figured I would make a post.
It can be done!
There is one rock-solid way (I used to think you could do it with doomed, but assuming the wording in the CRB takes precedence over the wording for regeneration in the Bestiary, that way does not in fact work, so there's only one way to do it!).
This way is not terribly complicated (though it certainly isn't easy), and the only specific requirement is a single uncommon spell that was printed in the CRB and probably overlooked a lot because it's a classic "NPC spell".
To start, Tarrasque can't be killed at all by just damage: it has regeneration that cannot be disabled, which completely prevents it from dying because of the dying condition.
Tarrasque is immune to a lot of things, but it is not immune to death effects, nor is it immune to being instantly killed by a death effect. Despite this, it has protection even against this, with this special clause in the "Slaying Spawn" section of the stat block:
If the spawn fails a save against an effect that would kill it instantly, it rises from death 3 rounds later with 1 Hit Point.
It is significant however, that you can
kill it, however temporarily.
The death trait says:
An effect with the death trait kills you immediately if it reduces you to 0 HP. Some death effects can bring you closer to death or slay you outright without reducing you to 0 HP.
So we don't need any specific death spell that instantly kills Tarrasque, any spell with the death trait that does damage will temporarily kill it if we get Tarrasque low on HP to begin with and then finish it with a death effect, so you'll need a caster to pack in as much Vampiric Touch and the like as you can, since Fortitude is Tarrasque's best save, you're going to be fishing for some natural 1s most likely.
Assuming you do all that, and you kill Tarrasque, yay! Now you've got 3 rounds until he comes back to life.
Now you cast
Bind Soul on Tarrasque before the 3 rounds are up.
While the soul is in the gem, the target can't be returned to life through any means, even powerful magic such as wish.
Bind Soul has an unlimited duration, so you could just leave Tarrasque's soul in the gem if you like, but given the wording of the return to life trigger, it does not continue to keep coming back to life. Once the 3 rounds have passed and the trigger fails because Tarrasque "can't be returned to life through any means," you are free to destroy the gem. Since Tarrasque is already dead and it's not failing a save from a death effect, this does not re-trigger its ability to return to life.
This frees Tarrasque's soul to go on to the afterlife and be truly permanently dead.
Bonus Loophole: This is a little more nitpicky but still technically works with a strict RAW reading. The trigger to restore Tarrasque to life only fires when it "fails a save against an effect that would kill it instantly." That means if something kills it instantly
without it failing the save, or without it attempting a save at all, it doesn't trigger its ability to come back to life.
That means if you bring it to 0 HP with Vampiric Touch because it took half damage by
succeeding on the basic Fortitude save: congratulations Tarrasque is permanently dead.
It also means that if you can deal damage as a death effect that does not have a save, that will also technically kill Tarrasque, see the new item from Treasure Vault that is perfect for this:
Reaper's Spellgun.

2023.03.21 21:33 FangsMurderers With rumors of a FE4 Remake coming soon, which characters would you pick to be POC?
| The last entries of the FE franchise have shown us that Intelligent System has some consideration of giving racial diversity in their playable cast. Even if it can be sometimes considered lackluster with it (having only 2 or 4 poc characters of a usual roster with 30-40 units), I’m glad when I, as a brown-skinned latino, can use or recruit POC characters in my army, even if it's just to bench them and watch their supports. There is just some indescribable joy about it and I know some POC folks feel the same way. Yes, I know Fire Emblem is a japanese franchise and sometimes asking for sexual and racial diversity is too much. Yes, I know that the offspring mechanic and the fact that the game is more “popular” than FE1-3 are going to make it more difficult to integrate POC characters without any type of complaints/backlash, but there is still hope. With SoV (a remake of FE2) two playable characters were redesing to be dark skined: Boey and Gray. I find both of them charming and much better than their old contraparts. The same thing could happen with a FE4 Remake (game that I finished and is one of my favorites). So, with rumors of a FE4 Remake coming soon, which characters would you pick to be POC? Do you think it would be very difficult to do it with the offspring mechanic? submitted by FangsMurderers to fireemblem [link] [comments] |

2023.03.21 21:29 Ok-Bake-3493 I need help to choose concept for D&D race.
Hi guys. I have a pool for you. I need this pool to make a D&D Homebrew race. I have an Idea iven a few, but I cant decide. Will you help? Maby you have som ideas for another option/change to one of them?
- The Chlorophytes: The Chlorophytes are a plant-human hybrid race that evolved in the dense, lush forests of the world. They possess chlorophyll-rich skin that allows them to photosynthesize and gain energy from the sun's rays. They are known for their exceptional speed and agility, and their ability to manipulate the growth of plants around them.
- The Verdantkin: The Verdantkin are a plant-human hybrid race that originated in the heart of the world's largest jungles. They possess a wide variety of natural weapons, such as thorns, vines, and razor-sharp leaves. They are also able to communicate with plants and control their growth, allowing them to create natural barriers and traps.
- The Blossomfolk: The Blossomfolk are a plant-human hybrid race that were created by a powerful druidic ritual. They are imbued with the power of nature and are able to manipulate the elements to their will. They are also able to heal themselves and others through the use of magical flowers that grow on their bodies.
- The Mosskin: The Mosskin are a plant-human hybrid race that live in the damp, shaded regions of the world. They possess a thick layer of moss that covers their bodies, granting them natural camouflage and a resistance to physical damage. They are also able to manipulate the growth of fungi and molds, allowing them to create powerful poisons and diseases.
- The Sunroot: The Sunroot are a plant-human hybrid race that were created by a powerful wizard. They are able to harness the power of the sun to fuel their magical abilities and are immune to fire and radiant damage. They are also able to create powerful beams of light that can blind their enemies and ignite flammable objects.

2023.03.21 21:25 Awkward_Comparison93 The Tales of Tra'Vol: Song of the Soul Prologue
Prologue
In the verdant heart of Sayla, where the suns painted the sky with warm hues and the gentle whisper of the breeze carried the laughter of children, a soulborn elf named Elyan wandered through the lush forest, his steps as light as the dappled shadows that danced on the forest floor. His eyes sparkled with a carefree spirit, reflecting the beauty of the world around him. Life in Sayla was serene, with the days spent in harmonious coexistence among the vibrant flora and fauna. The village where Elyan lived was a haven for his kind, nestled in the embrace of ancient trees that stood as silent guardians, shielding them from the outside world. The soulborn elves shared a deep connection with the land and its creatures, nurturing an unwavering bond that transcended the passage of time. The villagers, united by a profound sense of kinship, filled their days with song and laughter, celebrating the simple joys of life. Elyan was no exception, cherishing the peace and tranquility that surrounded him. He spent his days exploring the emerald depths of the forest, forging friendships with its inhabitants, and basking in the warmth of his community. As the sun dipped below the horizon, Elyan would often gather with his friends and family around a crackling fire, sharing stories that echoed through the night, weaving a tapestry of memories that bound them together. Many of the stories would be about the trials and tribulations the Soul Born Elves faced over countless generations due to their overall pacifist nature. It is well known in Tra'Vol that Soul Born elves do not even take life as their culture is believed to cherish the sanctity of Life putting nothing else before it. Though true there is another reason soulborn elves do not kill that will be revealed in Elyan's tale. Unbeknownst to Elyan and his people, however, a storm was brewing on the horizon, a dark tide that threatened to shatter their idyllic existence forever. As the shadows lengthened and the air grew heavy with foreboding, the soulborn elves of Sayla would soon find themselves facing a grim reality. From beyond the southern border of Sayla, armies materialized as if conjured from thin air, commanded by a man known as Leviticus Brightsoul—The Wicked King to his own people. At the tender age of 17, Leviticus embarked on his first conquest, swiftly earning recognition from the kingdom of Impre'us. He conquered the provinces of Valta and Alamay and established a foothold in Eria after a brutal, month-long skirmish called The Shallows of Sorrow. The battle earned its name when rumors spread of Leviticus ruthlessly killing and torturing citizens and soldiers alike, leaving a trail of bodies in the shallow waters of the Eria swamplands. The death toll reportedly reached 50,000, yet Leviticus had only led a detachment of 100 troops—an astonishing feat even for the demigods who ruled the royal bloodlines of Tra'Vol. Five years passed after this conquest, and Leviticus returned to his homeland of Impre'us just in time to confront an invading army from Sacarr. Unimpressed, he single-handedly inflicted massive defeats on the invaders, forcing them to retreat. People began to speculate that Leviticus must have sold his soul to a Mala'Deus, as he had slain the Sacre'Noir—a formidable and ruthless warrior race, as well as the demigod representing their bloodline—all by himself. The carnage was said to be so immense that even his own people recoiled in horror as he slaughtered the enemy army, cackling maniacally throughout the ordeal. Everyone deemed his actions sickening and grotesque, except for his father, who saw his son's feat as a triumph that saved the empire. Swelling with pride, his father abdicated the throne, crowning Leviticus as the ruler of Impre'us. Leviticus was delighted but not surprised, as he had already planned to murder his father and seize the throne. With this obstacle removed, he set his sights on the neighboring continent of Lun'aal, intent on claiming its uncharted territories by force. Believing that every land rightfully belonged to his empire, Leviticus dispatched thousands of troops to explore the region. The soldiers landed on the serene coastlines of Mortua Terra, where they established bases that extended to the province of Black Sand and eventually to the borders of Sayla. However, they reported that the dense forests of Sayla made further travel and exploration impossible. Dissatisfied with their explanation and anticipating the rich resources of the unexplored land, Leviticus summoned his trusted advisor, a wizard named De'lacar, and the two used gate magic to teleport directly to the primary base at the border of Black Sand and Sayla. The soldiers in the encampment were taken aback when a tear in the very fabric of reality appeared in their midst, allowing their king and his advisor to step through. Shocked, everyone in the camp immediately knelt before their sovereign, Leviticus Brightsoul.
""No... No, that won't do. Get up!" Leviticus said, rubbing the bridge of his nose with his index finger and thumb as if nursing a headache.
"That's precisely why I had to leave the palace! You fools and your desperate attempts to take a break on my time!"
As he finished his sentence, Leviticus snapped his fingers. Small circles appeared around each of the soldiers, signaling impending doom. The camp erupted in a cacophony of cries as the men begged for their lives.
"Sir, please give me another chance!" one called out.
"I'm not going to die like this!" another exclaimed, attempting to flee but quickly realizing his muscles refused to respond.
"Please, Your Majesty, I have a family! Don't be a heartless bastard!" a man cried out, sounding like a frightened child.
"Heartless bastard, huh?... You no longer have a family."
"What?! No! I didn't... mean..."
"Silence!" Leviticus's voice roared, startling even a large predatory creature that had been stalking the troops and lurking nearby.
"The price for your transgressions will be paid in blood, and because of your careless words, not only your blood."
Leviticus removed a glowing, lustrous orb from his battle raiment. The sphere emitted a beautiful dance of colors before abruptly turning a deep blood red moments later. It began spewing blood and viscera onto the man who had insulted him. The man screamed in agony, realizing the gore covering him belonged to his wife and two daughters, recognizing his daughter's torn and shredded face amongst the flesh.
"You!... What have you done?! I'll kill you!!!" the man screamed.
"Oh, will you now? I'll tell you what," Leviticus' eyes briefly shimmered from their normal light blue to a deep, dark red before returning to their original hue. He released the circle around the distraught man. "I'd say I'm a pretty 'fair' king, so I'll give you a fair shot."
Leviticus gestured to his advisor, who produced a strange sword with a glowing essence. Leviticus explained, "The sword issued to you, though strong, won't be enough to kill me in this realm or the next. This sword, however..." He took the sword from his advisor.
"This sword is made from Dwarvain titanium and etched with runic symbols found in ancient texts left behind by the Cyphora Civilization that once called our homeland their own. The symbols and their effects are not important. What is important is that it can even strike down a deity if used properly."
Leviticus hurled the sword at the man, and it embedded itself into the ground next to him.
"Now kill me!" Leviticus said in a playful tone. Unprepared for the soldier's escape, as few ever managed to get away from Leviticus, the soldier seized the sword and took advantage of his short-range teleportation spells. He made it to the border of Sayla, sword in hand, and sought refuge at a monument to the Celes'Deus Solayah. He planted the sword into the ground next to the statue and collapsed beside it. Distraught and trying to determine his next move after witnessing the murder of his family by the king, he began to plan. But no one escapes the Wicked King.
"Should we go after him, sire?" De'lacar asked with urgency.
"Why waste the manpower?" Leviticus responded rhetorically, holding up the orb once again. As it began to glow, the men still held within the circle seemed to evaporate, transforming into pools of blood within the circle. Simultaneously, the soldier who sought refuge at the shrine of Solayah also began to evaporate, as the circle reappeared beneath him leaving behind the sword as the only evidence of his presence at the shrine.
Elsewhere in the province of Sayla, Elyan, utterly unaware of the storm brewing in the distance, continued to revel in the beauty of the present moment. As he ambled through the forest, he heard the distant call of his best friend, Lira, who was perched on a nearby branch.
"Elyan! There you are!" she exclaimed, her melodic voice carrying through the trees. "I've been looking for you everywhere. You know the Soul Dance Ceremony is tonight, right?"
Elyan's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Of course, Lira! Do you know if Sonair is coming this year?"
Lira gracefully hopped down from her perch, landing beside Elyan with a soft rustle of leaves.
"They haven't said, but it's supposed to be a grand celebration of our goddess Solayah this year, so it's sure to be a night to remember. Unlike the last gathering when your brother got drunk on lavender tree sap," Lira recalled, giggling.
"Who even knew that was possible?" Elyan replied, joining in the laughter.
"Apparently Sedwin! One would swear he already knew and just attempted to liven up the boring rituals of our normal Soul Dance Ceremonies," Lira said playfully, tapping Elyan's shoulder.
"Yeah, he's probably responsible for the drunken antics of the village elders nowadays. You think he shared the recipe with them?" Elyan jokingly asked.
"Your little brother does tend to get away with a lot these days!" Lira exclaimed.
Elyan and Lira had been close since childhood. Both being raised as acolytes of Solayah, they never thought of each other as anything more than brother and sister. Elyan, however, had always harbored deeper feelings for Lira. But due to their strict religious beliefs, he never pursued these feelings. Nevertheless, the feelings remained and led to one of the first of many sins Elyan would go on to commit – the sin of coveting.
"You know what, Elyan? We should go visit the nearby shrine of Solayah. It's not too far from where we are now – maybe 20 or 30 minutes at most," Lira suggested eagerly.
Reluctant to resist Lira's captivating golden-hued puppy eyes, Elyan acquiesced, and they embarked on the renowned Living Vine Trail. The path earned its name from the vibrant green mycelium, resembling vines, that meandered languidly through the dense tree canopy overhead. The trail's relative safety ensured a tranquil journey for the couple as they made their way to the shrine. However, upon nearing the shrine's staircase, an unsettling sensation enveloped them—an eerie atmosphere that was decidedly atypical for a sacred space devoted to the Celes'Deus.
"Elyan, do you feel that?" Lira inquires nervously, drawing closer to him for comfort. "Yes... I do. Something dark has transpired here."
"At a shrine dedicated to a celestial deity?" Lira's voice trembles with the onset of fear. "We must turn back now, Elyan!"
Just as Elyan is about to agree, a glint of something catches his eye near the Statue of Solayah at the shrine's apex.
"Lira, wait here. I'll only be a moment," he insists, starting up the marble staircase.
"Elyan, are you serious? We need to hurry back and inform the elders about the dreadful occurrence here!" Lira protests.
"We will, but first, I must ensure the shrine hasn't been desecrated. We cannot risk angering Solayah before the Soul Dance Ceremony tonight," Elyan explains, swiftly ascending the staircase.
"Elyan, you better hurry up! I mean it!" Lira calls after him, her worry evident in her voice.
Upon reaching the magnificent golden statue of Solayah in all its splendor, Elyan is suddenly overcome by the stench of decay and an overwhelming sense of despair, causing his stomach to churn violently. He scans the area for the source of the repugnant odor, expecting to find the decomposing remains of an animal, but discovers nothing. Instead, his eyes are drawn to an exquisite sword planted beside the statue, unlike any he had ever encountered before. As Elyan picks up the sword to examine it, he notices the emblem of the Dwarvain Empire on its pommel—a familiar sight, as the Solvaylians are well-acquainted with the Knomadic race that inhabits Dwarvain. Beyond this single detail, however, the sword remains a mystery to Elyan. The hilt is wrapped in a sturdy wyvern hide, but it doesn't match any wyvern species he has ever seen. The golden crossguard bears intricate etchings in an indecipherable language, while the blade itself is inscribed with magical runes that are equally unfamiliar to him.
As if compelled by the enigmatic blade, Elyan conceals it within his cloak and makes his way back down the staircase. Elyan's descent is hastened by a sense of urgency as he clutches the mysterious sword hidden beneath his cloak. As he reaches the foot of the staircase, Lira's eyes widen in alarm, sensing the change in him.
"Elyan, what did you find up there?" she inquires, her voice quivering with trepidation.
He hesitates for a moment, contemplating whether or not to reveal the sword to Lira. Finally, he decides to confide in her, drawing the enigmatic weapon from its concealment. Her eyes fixate on the sword, reflecting a mix of awe and concern.
"I found this next to the statue of Solayah," Elyan explains. "I've never seen anything like it before. It bears the emblem of the Dwarvain Empire, but everything else about it is unfamiliar. I couldn't just leave it there."
Lira's gaze shifts from the sword to Elyan's face, searching for reassurance. "We need to take this to the elders immediately. They might be able to shed some light on its origin and significance, especially with the unsettling atmosphere surrounding the shrine."
Elyan nods in agreement, carefully returning the sword to its hiding place within his cloak. With the weight of their discovery weighing heavily upon them, the duo retraces their steps along the Living Vine Trail, eager to share their findings with the village elders and uncover the truth behind the mysterious sword and the ominous presence at the shrine. As they walk, they cannot shake the feeling that their lives have become entwined with a destiny far greater than they ever could have imagined.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the village, Elyan and Lira joined their fellow Soulborn Elves in the village square. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation, as everyone eagerly awaited the elders' pronouncement.
Elder Aelara, a sagacious and revered figure within the community, stepped forward and raised her hands, calling for silence. Her voice, gentle yet authoritative, effortlessly captivated the attention of all those present.
"Children of Sayla," she began, her eyes sweeping over the assembly, "we gather here tonight to celebrate our bond with the forest and the spirits that dwell within its embrace. The harmony we share with the land and its creatures is a precious gift, one that we must treasure and safeguard for generations to come."
Her words were met with nods of agreement and murmurs of approval. Elyan, standing beside Lira, felt a swell of pride in his chest. The bond his people shared with the land was something truly special, and he was grateful to be part of such a unique and connected community.
As the night progressed, the music filled the air, creating a magical atmosphere that enveloped the village. Elyan and Lira danced and sang, their hearts brimming with happiness and love for their people. However, the discovery at the Shrine of Solayah weighed heavily on their minds, and they knew they had to share the information with the village elders.
Taking a break from the festivities, they approached Elder Aelara, who was speaking with a small group of villagers.
"Elder Aelara," Elyan called out, trying to mask the urgency in his voice. "May we speak with you for a moment? It's important."
Aelara turned to face them, her wise eyes showing concern. "Of course, Elyan, Lira. What troubles you?"
Lira glanced around, ensuring no one was eavesdropping, before she began. "We visited the Shrine of Solayah earlier today, and we found something... unusual."
Elyan chimed in, "Yes, there was this strange sword next to the statue, and it bore the emblem of the Empire of Dwarvain. It also had magical runes etched into its blade, runes we've never seen before." Aelara quickly snatched the sword away as if taking poison from a child, eyes widened, and she exchanged a worried glance with the other elders. "This is troubling news. We must investigate this matter further. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please, enjoy the rest of the ceremony, and we will discuss this further tomorrow." Taking the sword from them, she sent them on their way.
Elyan and Lira nodded, a sense of relief washing over them as they returned to the celebration. They hoped that the village's wise leaders would uncover the truth behind the mysterious sword and the disquiet it had stirred.
As the night of festivities drew to a close, Elyan and Lira found themselves sitting together at the village dock on the Ta'kalu River, following their nightly tradition.
"I was at Solayah's shrine just three days ago, and that sword wasn't there," Lira said, her voice tinged with concern. "Maybe it was accidentally left behind by some adventurer," Elyan suggested, trying to ease her worries.
"But that's the thing, Elyan," Lira countered. "When's the last time you remember an adventurer passing through Sayla?"
Elyan furrowed his brow, deep in thought. "I don't..."
"Exactly!" Lira exclaimed. "We only hear stories of adventurers in Sayla. Our home is nearly inhospitable to outsiders. Many have been swallowed by the jungles, as evidenced by the number of skeletons we've discovered."
They sat in silence for a moment, contemplating the unsettling implications of the mysterious sword's presence in their sacred shrine. But for now, they could only hope that the wisdom of their elders would provide answers and guidance in the days to come.
Meanwhile, at the border between BlackSands and Sayla, King Leviticus began mobilizing thousands of troops skilled in jungle-based warfare. He ordered the transport of ample supplies and materials for his military campaign into the uncharted province of Sayla.
"Your Majesty, word has come from the Emperor Isles that your father and his council disapprove of your campaign into Sayla. They are taking action to sway public opinion against you," De'lacar informed King Leviticus. "How should we proceed? Executing the old fool now would silence his council effectively." De'lacar suggested.
Leviticus furrowed his brow, considering the situation. "I'm less concerned about his feeble council than the consequences of killing the old man. No, executing him will be... complicated at this stage in my plan," Leviticus replied thoughtfully, weighing his options.
"De'lacar, contact the Alliance of Dark Heart and offer them a substantial reward for eliminating my mother. They must stage the event to implicate Old Man Lavarus, providing us with the perfect pretext to sentence him to death," Leviticus commanded, his voice unwavering.
"As you wish, Your Majesty. But... if I may," De'lacar hesitated, only to be immediately interrupted by Leviticus' thunderous voice.
"You may not!"
"Understood, Your Majesty," De'lacar responded, bowing his head in submission as he stepped backward into a swirling portal that closed behind him, leaving Leviticus to ponder his next move. The door to Leviticus's war room creaked open once more.
"Sire, the troops will be fully mobilized in about a month, and the fortress you commissioned will be completed in a matter of days," General Gurod reported, kneeling in submission to his king.
"And what of the local population here in BlackSands?" Leviticus inquired.
"We successfully captured the Perr'ju city of Ku'ran and many of the neighboring villages... however," the general hesitated.
"However?" Leviticus probed with great interest.
"Sir, the land here is harsh, and morale among the men in the 19th division is dwindling. They request permission to withdraw from the Sundered Coast and StoneBlossom Meadows," General Gurod explained, fear creeping into his voice.
"Withdrawal?..... Withdrawal!?" Leviticus stood, his piercing blue eyes flashing a fiery red for an instant. "The troops have been 'withdrawn'," he declared, sitting back down with a sinister grin.
"The 20th division is now the 19th division, and so forth for divisions 20 through 50," Leviticus detailed manically."Sir... That division comprised one hundred thousand men."
"And there will be one less to worry about unless you curb your questioning tone, General Gurod," Leviticus warned, his voice cold and unforgiving.
"Now that that little detail is taken care of, send a detachment of troops to retake the city of Ku'ran and recapture the local populations for use as slaves. The Sundered Coast and StoneBlossom Meadows are to be reoccupied immediately by the 19th division, formerly the 20th," Leviticus cackled.
"As you command, sire," General Gurod replied submissively as he stood and walked toward the war room's exit.
"Oh, and one more thing, General!" Leviticus called out as he sauntered over to Gurod, handing him a sealed parchment scroll bearing the symbol of the Mala'Deus Pantheon.
"Take this to the statue of Nero located on the edge of the DustBowl." Gurod grasped the scroll, his face a mix of shock and fear due to the ominous symbol and the perilous location he was to visit. However, not wanting to question a man who had just dispatched one hundred thousand men without a mere word, the general accepted the scroll without hesitation, simply responding, "As you wish, sire."
Back in Sayla, Elyan and Lira awoke early, eager to learn whether the elders had uncovered anything about the mysterious sword they had found the night before. They met at the prestigious Temple of the Celestial Gods, only to be greeted by a locked door.
"The door is only locked when something serious is happening," Elyan told Lira, trying to peer through a crack in the heavy wooden door.
"I know... it's troubling. The last time the temple was locked, we were attacked by a swarm of Bush Wyverns not long after," Lira replied, her voice filled with concern.
"Maybe we should just take it easy, Lira. The elders could be deliberating for hours, and I have chores to do at home anyway," Elyan suggested, stepping away from the door. "Yeah, maybe you're right. I have to go get Gecko herb from the village south of here today anyway. Perhaps things will have settled down by then," Lira replied, her frustration evident.
"The village of Floravale, right? I understand your frustration. It gets cold there, being so close to BlackSands," Elyan said compassionately.
"Yes! It can be tedious sometimes, but fortunately, Grandma's warm Gecko tea is a refuge all on its own," Lira declared, her spirits lifting.
"Ah yes! I remember Granny's Gecko tea! Pure as Solayah's soul," Elyan reminisced fondly, thinking back to his time as a youth in Floravale village.
"Well, I'll be sure to pass on your high praise to her," Lira responded with a giddy giggle. "You know, you could come with me. You're always welcome at Grandma Laya's house, Elyan, and I'm sure she'd love to see you after all these years."
"I would love to join you, Lira, but my mother's sickness has worsened lately, and my father will need help tilling the field. I'm glad Eleene is old enough to take over my mother's household duties. Krain knows Sedwin wouldn't be able to handle it," Elyan explained, reflecting on his younger brother's laziness.
"Is she still sick?" Lira asked with concern. "That's not good at all, Elyan. It's been, what, about four weeks now, right? Have you tried consulting Shaman Arlo about a possible remedy?" Lira inquired, her anticipation palpable.
"My sister Eleene has visited him several times, and the last time she inquired, he was just as puzzled as we are. So, he came to our home and made a dire prognosis. He says my mother is suffering from an illness related to our ancestral heritage. But when we asked him to elaborate further, he wouldn't say more, only that she had a matter of months before..." Elyan's voice trailed off, his teeth gritting slightly.
"I'm... so sorry, Elyan," Lira replied sympathetically. A dead silence filling the air.
"All things ethereal, the living intertwine... The meaning of life discovered, but only when we die," Elyan recited a verse from the scriptures on the teachings of Solayah. "It's okay, Lira. We're just going to make her as comfortable as possible before she rejoins Solayah."
"That's a noble task, Elyan. I truly commend you," Lira replied. "Well, I have to go if I want to get back in time to hear what the elders have to say. See you later, Elyan!" She hurried down the road heading south out of the village.
"Safe travels, Lira!" Elyan called out, watching Lira disappear into the distance.
"Well, I'd better get to my father," Elyan said to himself, preparing for the day ahead.
In the continent of Sol'aay, across the vast sea, former King Lavarus of Impre'us province and father to Leviticus, convenes with his council at the Temple of Sol'thur on the Emperor Isles. They engage in a heated debate about the impending invasion of Sayla and the reckless actions of Leviticus, who ascended the throne mere months ago.
"This is an utter disaster! Your son will be the downfall of our kingdom!" Adviser Calvris exclaims, addressing the former king Lavarus.
"Why did you abdicate so readily? Just because he vanquished those supposed 'invaders'?" another adviser adds.
Lavarus tries to interject, "It was an invasion..."
"Massacre, sire! Anyone with eyes saw what Prince Laventus did to those people," Adviser Calvris retorts.
"That's King Laventus, you insolent worm!" De'lacar announces, entering the chambers with numerous guards in tow.
The sudden appearance causes everyone in the room to stand. Lavarus demands, "What is the meaning of this, De'lacar?" his tone a mix of confusion and impatience.
"Well, 'Sire,' you are under arrest for high treason, for your involvement in the death of your wife, Queen Silla," De'lacar proclaims, gesturing for the guards to arrest Lavarus.
"What?! No..." Lavarus utters, shocked by the news.
"Unfortunately, yes. And the punishment for such a crime is public execution," De'lacar reveals, a sinister smile gracing his lips.
"How could he do this? Tell me, De'lacar! How could he have his sweet, innocent mother murdered?" Lavarus implores. De'lacar merely shrugs, responding, "I wasn't allowed to ask," before attempting to leave the room.
"Do you really think we'll let you and Leviticus get away with this, you glorified lapdog?" Adviser Calvris challenges De'lacar, garnering the support of his fellow advisers.
"No, which is why none of you will leave this room," De'lacar replies. "You may complete your contract, but don't leave a mess this time."
De'lacar's words puzzle the council as he ushers Lavarus out in shackles, closing the door behind him. Suddenly, small black energy masses with a purple aura appear next to each of the seven advisers' heads, darting into them as if possessing them. A dark figure clad in black leather armor emerges from the shadows, and the now zombie-like advisers form a single file line, following the mysterious figure out the door.
"Don't leave a mess this time," the mysterious figure, Zel, mocks De'lacar childishly. Two other figures materialize from the darkness behind him.
"Don't be so childish, Zel," the tallest of the figures scolds. "Indeed, your overconfidence could be your undoing," a female voice chimes in with laughter.
"Yeah, yeah, stop lecturing me! This contract was already disappointing," Zel grumbles.
"Please! This contract was the witches tits! Not every day you get to stage a murder within in the royal bloodlines" the female voice counters.
"Of course you had fun, you got the most pleasurable kill with that frail old Lady Sinclair," Zel retorts.
The trio, along with the entranced advisers, proceed down the palace hallway, reaching a dead end. Zel recites an incantation, "Queen of the night, heed your children's call, for we've fulfilled our tasks and killed them all!" Simultaneously, he casts a handful of black powder at the wall.
The wall transforms into a distorted portal, emanating a faint purple glow and the haunting sounds of countless souls groaning in agony. As the mysterious figures and their captives step through, the largest cloaked figure drops a black rose with deep purple pedals, before the portal vanishes behind them. A calling card of the Alliance of Dark Heart.

Please give the FAQ below a read, as well as the
guide (also linked at the top/side) to see if your question is addressed. If your question remains unanswered, then feel free to comment here or make a separate post if your problem warrants deeper discussion.
Gacha pulls are allowed for the first day, after that pull screenshots should go in the
associated megathread Original Resources Thread FAQ (Updated Mar 2023) - Who is Shenhe even?
- Cryo polearm, from Liyue. Disciple of Cloud Retainer, and from the family line of exorcists that Chongyun is part of. Either she had an undisclosed sibling that was Chongyun's mother, or she's Chongyun's mother's cousin. But either way she's technically his aunt. Because weird Chinese definitions. Lore Spoilers: Her father went crazy trying to bring back her deceased mother, discovered a sus ritual, sacrificed his own kid for it, only for the kid to throw hands with the summoned demon until she get rescued by the adepti. So she got cursed, causing her to be ceaselessly violent killing machine. Adepti throw binding ropes on her, so now she's just doom slayer. Lives in the mountains with the adepti. Due to traveler and story progression shenanigans, she's now trying to get used to living in society. Probably one of the strongest beings in Teyvat aside from the archons.
- Is Shenhe good? tl;dr Yes, but mostly for cryo teams
- She's good for what she does, with the caveat being that what she does is very narrow in scope. She's a dedicated cryo buffer, with marginal support benefits for physical comps. Generally, she's perfect for Ayaka, a mainstay for any less meta cryo dps comps like Chongyun infusion or Rosaria reverse melt. You may be wondering where she stands in terms of Ganyu teams, and the harsh truth is that Ganyu teams need every support slot they can get, requiring shields, anemo VV, hydro applicators, melt enablers, etc. That said, she can work in some freeze teams (eg. Particularly with kokomi) and in melt teams if you're a fighting game reflex nut who never gets hit and doesn't need a shielder.
- Should I pull for Shenhe? tl;dr Yes. Probably. Unless you shouldn't. Very helpful, I know.
- Since you're in this sub, the answer is going to be yes. But in actuality, this is a gacha game. As a veteran of several gacha games, you're going to be happiest rolling for what you like. If you have your eye on her for purely gameplay functionality, it's best to evaluate what teams you would use her on, what weapons you have available, and the opportunity cost (future banners). What I'd like to note is that she's future-proof in some capacity, as any cryo dps they give us in the future will likely be able to use her. Right now, she's great if you use Ayaka for everything.
- What is her role in a team? tl;dr Damage buffs, debuffs for cryo
- Her kit revolves around team buffs and resistance down on enemies. A true support type at first glance. If your team does a lot of cryo damage, she can add a bunch more damage. She's not the most reliable cryo support for pure element application, since her burst is high energy cost and she's not exceptionally good at generating particles and being her own battery. Some benefits for physical teams, but for the most part she's a hard sell since she's got a high burst cost and isn't that great of a battery.
- Can she be used as dps? tl;dr Yes, but it's not that great
- Any character can be used as dps, but don't expect much from Shenhe in that department. There is nothing stopping you from using a physical or cryo crit setup on her, but her kit doesn't enable her to personally deal consistent damage over time like Diluc/Ganyu or burst dps like Raiden/Ayaka. Theoretically she can use Chongyun to unload all her quills quickly, but the result would be the same with any other infusion-capable character.
- What weapons are best on her? tl;dr Calamity, Engulfing, Skyward, Wavebreaker, Fav
- Most 5 star weapons are good choices, along with weapons such as wavebreaker fin or even royal spear for their above average base atk for their rarity. Her burst and high cooldowns on her skill demands some energy recharge, which can be achieved through favonious lance or skyward spine. For dps setups, a selection from pike, primordial jade spear, blackcliff, homa, deathmatch, lithic is going to be solid. Essentially, you're looking at engulfing lightning and calamity queller as the premium options, with skyward, homa, jade spear, wavebreaker as the second tier. Favonious is the generally accepted budget option, solving both energy problems and featuring relatively high base atk for a 4 star weapon.
- Which artifact sets should I farm? tl;dr 2pc atk% sets, or noblesse
- Due to her wanting a lot of atk, you'll want 2pc glad/shimenawa or other 2 set attack bonus sets with as much atk% as you can get your hands on, with ER sprinkled in as needed. If your team lacks a noblesse 4pc holder, that is also a good, if not the best option, especially for Ayaka teams. If you're one of the enthusiasts going for a dps build, then your best bet is likely blizzard strayer with your usual balance of crit and atk, or a physical build with pale flame and/or bloodstained.
- What stats should I aim for on artifacts? tl;dr atk%, ER
- As a support, Shenhe needs 2 things and 2 things only: attack and energy recharge. For maximum damage, ATK% mainstat on every piece possible, with flat attack and energy recharge substats. However, using an ER sands is perfectly fine if it allows you to burst off cooldown. If using favonius spear, try and get a few critical chance substats so you can proc the passive quickly without disrupting your rotation too much.
- Should I roll for constellations? tl;dr No. But C2 if you want.
- Due to how cooldowns in a continuous rotation work, C1 is fairly low value. However, it's a nice QoL constellation to add some extra frontloaded damage and energy. C2 is a significant burst duration increase, which improves uptime and allows her to use up her own quills in single target, although it's slow. If you're not a heavy spender, it's better to invest your rolls in a new character instead of marginal improvements for the current one. Among 5 stars, Shenhe's constellations are not particularly impactful. For enthusiasts, C2 is a good place to stop. If you're whaling for C3 and beyond, I'd imagine you know what you're doing. If we ever get a dps cryo catalyst, C6 could be extremely strong, but that shouldn't be a consideration for 99% of players.
- Which talents should I level? tl;dr E>Q>Normal
- Currently for a support build, her skill takes priority, followed by burst and then normal attacks. A DPS build would depend on the team and build, but generally it would require investment into all 3 talents
This list likely won't cover all possible questions, which is why this megathread exists. However, it should address a lot of the basic question posts that come up. Optionally, you can join the

2023.03.21 20:55 bat_and_breakfast Miss Wonderland
The chill runs her fingers down your spine illuminating each vertebrae and whispers her arrival.
Years have been wasted watching water freeze and precious time lost to the flakes that descend and disappear on your skin. Allowing them to sink into your flesh is the only reminder you are capable of warmth.
It’s that special time of year when the cold bleaches everything it touches and blends nothingness with chaos, sweeping away your senses and leaving you isolated.
Stoically you hold your position, as venturing forward with her only leaves you vulnerable to suffering. You let the waves roll over and around because waiting for it to end takes less energy… and fighting it makes you tired.
So tired.
This opaque sea of pearl is unforgiving and cruel; crashing with intention to burn and stab when you peek, punishing you for trying. She will deprive you of oxygen with a twinkle in her eye, and her screams steal your breath away if you open your mouth to respond.
Then, quiet.
Without violence controlling life the particles hesitate in the air like an ashen kiss blown from magma.
Delicately winking through the powder was something that stood out, and you start running, unsure if you are motivated by fight or flight.
Your blinded eyes had forgotten what the security of clarity feels like. Unclouded crystals and polished fractals had merged to create a tiny window to remind you of what awaits on the other side.
A sudden radiating warmth in the chest alarms you and a checklist of fatal symptoms rattle through until you realize it’s melting the numbness you learned to live with.
Grasping at the looking glass it slips your mind that your passion dissolves the fragile gifts sent from the universe, promising yourself that this time will be different.
For a moment…. it’s yours.
But it fades into your hands, and with wet palms you accept its decay was birthed from your greed.
With a shriek she returned to nip at your nose and change what remains of a treasure into sparkling needles.
Turning deep desire into pain, shaking you from the dream, welcoming you back with frigid arms.
Withdrawn once again you try to keep your chin up despite living in perpetual bleakness.
Searching. Waiting. Hoping to feel the fire that feels like home just one more time, but this arctic hearth is where you belong now.
You ignore that there is nothing left in you to thaw when the season ends. After so much time in this place, the relentless scream of white noise is the only constant you rely on. And now you depend on it to drown out the voices that say you will never see it again.

2023.03.21 20:54 Rain1dog If you enjoy FPS and loot and have not played Borderlands 3 you are doing yourself a disservice by not enjoying what this game has on offer!
I kind of ignored BL3 when it was launched due to the story being so very bad, and while the story is nothing exciting it is not truly awful.
With that said the gun play mechanics, the build variety from the skill trees, getting top tier loot to buff your style of play really REALLY makes this game shine. If you like power fantasies this is your game.
The absolutely insane amount of legendary weapons and how unique they are really adds to the “can’t wait to see what drops next”.
Then the DLC’s are so very well done. Bounty of Blood is one of the best DLC’s I’ve ever played. The narration is top notch, the enemies are great, the vehicle and its chain gun/mortars are great fun in their own right.
I have 85 hours in BL3 and I still have 30-40 hours left and I’m never bored. Massive raid bosses, world bosses, zone bosses, quests out the ass that are a lot of fun… you will get your money’s worth.
If you are like me and kind of never paid attention to BL3 and enjoy these games do yourself a favor and fire it up!

2023.03.21 20:52 IsCarrotForever As a follow up to my previous post:
2023.03.21 20:50 Radion4k [Guide] The Krangle event starts in 1 hour! Unsure how to progress? Here's some quick theorycrafting to plan your start to the event.
Which skill should I play?
The world is your oyster. However, your safest bet will be to play some kind of attack build. Casters, Summoners and other builds which rely on somewhat niche notables to get damage will be kind of screwed by the sheer amount of attack nodes. However, these may become viable once people have started revealing the entire tree.
I expect Attack Builds to be the best, because they benefit not only from a lot of generic damage notables, they also get a ton of niche notables on the tree that you can mix and match. Found 3 great axe notables in your starting area? Hey, your an axe build now! Oh, there's some dual wielding nodes up next? Congratulations, your swinging two of them now! You get the idea.
In addition, they also get the most amount of ascendancy notables. I've sorted all of them into a spreadsheet,
which you can find here. How do I plan my tree?
I’ve divided the entire thing into clusters with the least amount of travel nodes between them. You can find the entire graphic here.
The basic idea is to start by revealing as many notables as possible (the blue and green areas), then progress into specialized masteries once you know which good notables/keystones/ascendancy notables you want to plan your build around.
Notables are King. While there can be travel nodes that are great (+1% max res, 6% life, etc.) or at least somewhat useful for your build, revealing as many notables as possible will obviously give you the best chance to get the juiciest bonuses.
Which ascendancy do I play?
In order to have the best chances to get useful ascendancy notables, you'll want to reveal as many of them as you can! That makes Deadeye and Chieftain the best ascendancies to pick, because they both get 8 of them.
In addition, you want the fewest amount of "nestled" notables, because if a good ascendancy hides behind a terrible one, you're kind of screwed. You can find a list of ascendancies down below.
Ascendancy Tier List
#1: Ranger - Quick access to the busted shadow starting area and it’s good jewel socket, goes through attribute notables to get there - Has one of the best theoretical ascendancy choices in deadeye Deadeye (6 direct, 1 semi-nestled, 1 nestled) Pathfinder (5 direct, 2 nestled) Raider (3 direct, 3 nestled)
#2: Marauder - Can get to good jewel socket at duelist or templar while grabbing their notable clusters - Gets the best theoretical ascendancy in Chieftain Chieftain (7 direct, 1 semi-nestled) Juggernaut (5 direct, 2 nestled) Barbarian (5 direct, 2 nestled)
#3: Shadow - Best starting cluster and access to a good jewel socket - Below average ascendancies Assassin (5 direct, 2 nestled) Trickster (5 direct, 2 nestled) Saboteur (5 direct, 2 nestled)
#4: Duelist - Most flexible choice - Below average starting cluster, but good jewel socket to make up for it - Below average amount of ascendancy notables Slayer (5 direct, 2 nestled) Champion (5 direct, 2 nestled) Gladiator (4 direct, 3 nestled)
#5: Templar - Decent starting cluster with good jewel socket and the best wheels on the edge of the tree - Average ascendancy choices Hierophant (5 direct, 3 nestled) Guardian (5 direct, 2 nestled) Inquisitor (4 direct, 3 nestled)
#6: Witch - Shittiest starting cluster, has the best notable per point value in there with the fire/lightning/frost walker wheel but very few notables with easy access - Bad jewel socket, shortest path to good jewel sockets does not travel through attribute notables - Worst big clusters on the edge of the tree Elementalist (6 direct, 2 nestled) Necromancer (5 direct, 3 nestled) Occultist (5 direct, 2 nestled)

Chapter 107 – A Patron Saint
“[…] with the leadership of many territories claiming that the muted response to the thread is once again a blatant showing of the Community-Leadership’s clear bias against Deathworld affairs. Loratexach Echtsesimm, the current leader of the united Lachaxet territories, even went so far as to call it, quote:
“A kick to the face for all those of us seeking to live in a peaceful unity.” Meanwhile other deathworld groups, like the occupants of the only known Class V deathworld, the Ligormordillar, are trying to quell the conflict and urge their fellow deathworlders to make a measured response, pointing to the lack of any concrete evidence when it comes to the recent events, and asking to give authorities a bit more time to investigate things. However, the accusations of corruptions that emerged in the last quarter have many people questioning how much the current Acting Galactic Council can truly be trusted with the investigations, and calls for the addition of independent investigations are becoming louder,” an Urounaek news caster professionally read off the seemingly endless lines of texts on her teleprompter, while b-footage of recordings of the sitting governments of a diverse number of species played in the background. “Surprisingly, humanity, the largest accuser of corruption in the Galactic Council as well as a front runner in the proclaimed fight for the extended rights of people and especially deathworlders that feel ousted by the Community, and also one of the Myiat’s currently closest military allies, have so far made no official statements or press-releases about the incidents, apart from damming the attack as a violation of intragalactic law as well as the laws of war.”
James passively allowed himself to be doused by the white noise of the TV that Shida had basically been glued to for the last days while he checked through his messages and mails on his phone and laptop. Of course, any of his addresses and contacts that had at some point been public in some way had been absolutely bombarded with a torrent of spam, threats, offerings, accusations, and even more spam. It was a daunting task to sift through all of the messages in an attempt to pick out the few of them that could possibly be useful every day, especially since those were extremely few and far in between, however, he still did it. On the one hand, he did it because he felt that it was his duty to leave nothing untried, no stone unturned, and no resource unused in these dire times they found themselves in. On the other hand, it was a quite time- and labor-intensive yet still comparatively easy task that he could easily waste away hours with without feeling like he was being unproductive.
Of course, all the really important messages he received would be forwarded to him through his more secure contacts that just select people had access to, and therefore the things he did find in his private messages were usually rather menial in comparison, however it was still something.
His hopes of not feeling so left out and abandoned anymore now that shit had thoroughly hit the fan had sadly been short-lived, as it quickly became clear that any broadcasts and statements to the outside world when it come to the topic at hand would be made by actual diplomatic professionals and not by-circumstance Ambassadors that had basically stumbled into their role.
…Which was honestly fair enough, James had to admit. Certainly, people who did this for a living had a much lower chance of screwing everything up and making things even worse than they already were than he did.
However, that did little to quell the nervous and anxious energy within him that just begged to be released in some productive way.
“While official governmental replies are being released by the hundreds by individual species, many collaborative political groups have also proclaimed their intentions to react to the current tensions caused by the attack on Dunnima. For example, many order-collaborations have been sending out invitations for emergency-conferences to possibly discuss a united reaction and collaborative measures to help ease the Galactic Tensions between their members; among others, the collaborative councils of the Tetsudines,
Psittacines, Corvids, Hymenoptera, Canines, Skitellifera, Estotsucuvae, and Primates will be gathering within the week to discuss possible measures. Additionally, for the first time in about 12 uniform years, a recently founded, provisional ‘council of deathworlders’ is also inviting possible participants to a first conference, after having reportedly struggled to find an adequate venue for such an event for a few uniform months. This council is the thought-child of representatives of the Lachaxet, Ligormordillar, Roosh’gaack, and Teracheponn territories, who are now trying to get representatives of as many deathworlds as possible to take part in it, claiming it as an important step towards future collaborations between the so-designated worlds and people.” “I wonder who they’re going to invite,” Shida commented as she tensely leaned forwards and absorbed the news with great concentration, her ears opening widely to not miss a single detail. Inside, she was just as rearing to go as James was. But just like him, she was also bound to the orders they were being given. So far, they had both not been called in to reinforce the fleets that were either stationed to more intensely control the borders of their own unified borders or sent out into the cosmos to reinforce the myiat’s defenses after the first attack. However, the military base in Lorraine that they had been staying at for a while now had certainly become a lot emptier ever since the attack, leaving basically only instructors, very fresh recruits and essential personnel behind. And themselves, of course. The constant tramping of boots outside of their doors had been replaced by an eerie emptiness, and their regular trainings-sessions that they
had along with other occupants had also run
dry, as most of the people on a similar level to them had received orders to move. And working with actual trainees didn’t exactly have a lot of appeal to it either. “They have plenty of options,” James mumbled while his eyes flew across rows and rows of recently received mails, going back hour by hour that he had slept while sifting through piles and piles of junk. Finishing off with the mail-service he had used during his Uni-days without having found anything of note, he then switched over to the next tab, where he had opened his miraculously still not out of service work-mail that had been assigned to him during his in hindsight very brief time of working on the G.E.S.-32. He had no idea why exactly it was still in service, but as long as he received messages to it, he was going to check them, even if so far, this had by far been the least useful of his addresses when it came to receiving any messages of actual note. And indeed, it was once again basically all junk. Spam, a death threat, a very angry email from a former coworker, spam, more threats, a clearly fake solicitation from some firm he had never heard of, some news-channel trying to get an interview with him, spam, another news channel, spam, even more threats, spa- He paused for a moment as his cursor hovered over a mail he had apparently received about five hours ago, that had the very brief and uninformative title of “You are invited.” Usually, he would’ve almost instantly disregarded it as clearly some form of spam, however after what he had just heard on the news, it made him raise an eyebrow and quickly check the address it was sent from. Lifting the eyebrow even further as he saw an actual, official government address, he clicked on the mail to open it up. Slowly, his eyes read over the neat lines of text that had been revealed to him, his eyes getting wider and expression becoming more confused and disgruntled by the moment. Was this a joke? “What’s up?” Shida asked, apparently having noticed his expression changing, and just as anxious to do something as he was, she immediately stood up and walked over to him to glance at his screen while her tail swiftly flailed through the air. “One of the threats getting too personal?” James shifted his lips as he gathered his thoughts to reply. “No, I was invited to one of those conferences,” he said, and his eyes quickly double-checked if this invitation was actually addressed towards him and hadn’t just accidentally landed with the wrong person by some sort of blunder. Shida glanced at him in mild confusion, her yellow eyes scanning over his face while trying to read his thoughts from it. “The Deathworld one? That’s not surprising, is it?” she commented with a flick of her ears, before pressing up to his side a bit closer so she could lower herself in a position that would allow her to more easily peek at his mails. “Not only are you a deathworlder, you’ve also been a pretty public figure when it comes to the public fight for more rights. Hell, you probably inspired them to found that whole thing in a way, so of course they want you along for the ride.” James scoffed slightly and turned his screen so she could look at it. “Well, if it was that, I wouldn’t be surprised,” he said and waited a second for Shida to read, seeing her face also slowly turn into a more confused one as she realized what the invitation he had received was for, before he added, “But this is from the council of primates.” Shida looked at the message for a little longer before turning only her eyes towards him. “What the hell do they want?” she asked with clear distrust in her voice. James just shrugged. “A trap? Appeasement? Publicity? Options are numerous,” he said with an exhausted exhale before switching the tab yet again to log into his ‘professional’ mail services, copy-pasting the text of the invitation before forwarding it to a pre-prepared list of people that should probably be informed about this. Shida hissed through her teeth and stood up straight again. “Are you going?” she asked, crossing her arms and glancing down at him. “If I have a say in this? Absolutely,” James replied after hammering the ‘send’ button. Anything to get out of here and do something at this point. Besides, it would probably give him the opportunity to give some people some serious stern talkings to.
“Buuuuut you know how this goes.” “We should keep an eye open who else might get invited to something,” Shida commented after acknowledging his reply with a huff but not responding to it. James nodded. In his periphery, he noticed how Shida’s fingers were starting to dig into her arms as her grip likely inadvertently tightened, and he reached out to rub his hand against her side, wordlessly aiding her with relaxing. “They have plenty of options,” he repeated his earlier statement as he opened the invitation one more time. “You are invited. James Aldwin, Ambassador of Earth by community tradition, you have been officially invited to the emergency conference of the council of primates. Given recent events, the council has decided it is imperative to coordinate a response among the members of our esteemed order. As humanity has so far not had a representative in the council of primates, it has been decided to extend an invitation to you for this conference. This invitation officially grants you access to the venue on Nedstaniot-Station and makes you eligible for a support-fund covering the traveling costs for you and an accompanying group of up to ten (10) companions of your choosing. Should you accept this invitation, please contact us under one of the council of primate’s official addresses to receive access data to the necessary accounts as well as a detailed plan of the venue and scheduled events. Should you not accept this invitation, a message of your declining is not strictly necessary, but always welcome to aid in planning. I hope this message finds you well and am looking forward to possibly meeting you at the venue. Sincerely Klanneifer FF of the Tiasonko. Success to you!” Well, if they weren’t going to regret that…
--
Alexander clutched the necklace around his neck tightly as he looked into the mirror, taking deep breaths to quell his nerves. Yes, he was nervous. Extremely so in fact. He thought that he would be excited previously, but now that the time had come, he could feel only the nerves. Well, maybe that was understandable. Something like this really didn’t happen every day, after all
. “God, give me strength,” he prayed silently with his hands clutching the symbol of his faith even tighter. Then, he took a minute to, one last time, check if his hair was in place and his robes were immaculate. He couldn’t make a fool out of himself on an occasion like this, after all. His own blue eyes stared back at him from the mirror sternly. Scrutinizing. As if he was judging himself. And he should. After all it was a big day. Taking a moment to judge oneself was important in moments such as this, lest you get complacent and started to make the wrong choices
. Soon after, there was a knock at the door. “Father Mokoena is beginning his sermon, Alexander,” a muffled voice said from the other side. “You should be ready for when you are called upon.” Alexander exhaled deeply and took one last look at the mirror, his gaze wandering from his own eyes down to the pendant around his neck. “I’m on my way,” he then assured the B
rother waiting outside, before stepping away from the dresser with a flourishing movement of his robes. As he stepped out of the cloakroom, brother Anders slightly bowed to him, before stretching out a robed arm to guide him in the right direction. The brother was of the older sort, yet he had held his body in a shape worthy of a temple. Thinning and greying rose-blond hair did little to distract from that, as his wide frame could easily be spotted even through the loosely fitting robes. A man of devotion in more than one way. Alexander moved in a slow and measured way, his head held high, as Brother Anders guided him through the branched and tight back hallways of the old theater that they were holding today’s sermon in. As they got closer to the stage, Alexander could already hear the booming voice of father Mokoena as he addressed the masses from his place on the stage. It was no microphone he heard there, no amplifiers or other speakers. Only the impeccable voice of a devoted preacher. Despite his age, the man had pipes like the largest organ, and still he was speaking at a volume that Alexander wasn’t used to from him. Inhaling deeply, he swallowed for a moment. Hopefully the people would even be able to hear him when he spoke. He certainly couldn’t bellow like the father could. Then again, this was a theater. Maybe his voice would be carried further by the acoustics than he anticipated. It was rare for him to speak in a place like this, after all. For a moment, Alexander thought about houses of faith. All the temples, churches, mosques, synagogues and whatever else he had visited throughout his life. Their large, marbled halls. Their magnificent decorations. The instruments and loudspeakers and all the other tools they were equipped with for impressive…performances. That is what he had always called them. Performances. All those people just playing at faith while all they truly worship was their own selfishness. And yet here he stood in the backrooms of a theater, watching as a father Mokoena gave a sermon on a literal stage and waiting for his cue to join him in the spotlight. What ironic twists fate could take. The theater had been the most sensible option of a place that was for rent for one night and also held enough seats for this many people to come together. Still, he wondered if maybe they should have swallowed the tougher pill and looked for something else. For his liking, this was a bit too close to making a mockery of the event. The ‘houses of God’ may have been a sinful sham, but was this really much better?
Still, what was done was done. And while reflecting on past mistakes was certainly a virtue, getting stuck on them was most decidedly not. They were here now, so they would use what they had. He and Anders finally came to a halt right at the side of the stage, hidden behind the large, red curtain that could be used to cut the stage off from view. Of course,
today, it would stay wide open for the entire time, allowing everyone to witness. “Are you nervous?” Brother Anders quietly asked him, leaning in close to whisper so there was no chance of his voice leaking out and disturbing the Father’s sermon. Alexander smirked in slight anxiousness. “Of course, I am,” he confessed honestly. “It’s not every day you get to make proclamations this weighty…or enemies this powerful.” “Are you afraid of them?” Anders then asked with an almost pitiful look at Alexander, who sighed deeply. “Of course, I am,” he confessed yet again. “I’d be a fool not to be.” The task before him was grand, and his foes, in a way, even grander. There was a reason that the realized that had plagued Earth once upon a time had taken the name of heaven’s general for itself. They were powerful. And they knew it. And that was not even mentioning the force of Earth’s armies, that could turn against them on a whim of fate. Masters over the forces of nature. The undisputed leaders of destructive power. Those who had managed to best such a powerful being before.
Yes, he was afraid. But overcoming fear was a virtue as well. Meanwhile, the sermon was starting to whip up into a louder cadence, as Father Mokoena seemingly began to introduce the important part of the evening. “[…] Many years has he studied and prayed and silence, following the will of our Lord by standing by and reflecting. Keeping humble. Keeping modest. And he has developed into a fine man of faith. Eighteen years of serving and studying under our faith, hidden away in the dark and obscure, waiting for the event that would catalyze his becoming! Now it has finally come. And with it came the time for him to step out into the light! Please welcome with me, oh children of the Lord, our newest ‘Guide’! Guide Alexander Paige!” the Father loudly announced and lifted his arm in the direction of where Alexander still stood out of sight. The bald head of the dark-skinned man reflected the spotlights above while his modest robes swung around from the energetic movement. Meanwhile, Alexander took a deep, calming breath. “Best of luck, Guide Alexander,” he could hear Brother Anders next to him say, and he respectfully bowed to the man before advancing out of the shadows and into the light. His eyes narrowed strongly, and he had to resist the urge to lift his hand in order to protect them from the blinding light that now
blared down on him. Of course, he did his best to keep his respectful and reverent expression before the Father, however he wasn’t quite able to
entirely resist the pain of the rays stinging into his sight. Still, he advanced with quick yet collected steps all the way up to the side of the Father. “Don’t scream,” he told himself as he prepared his throat for how loud he would have to talk to be heard in a place such as this. The lights were so bright and the rest of the room so dark that he couldn’t see those listening to him, but he still knew they were there. Hundreds of them. Another failure of this chosen venue. He couldn’t even see the faces of those that would listen to his words. How could he claim to speak to them if he couldn’t even look them in the eyes? Well, it was too late now. “Thank you, Father,” Alexander loudly announced as he had finally reached the man, and he did his best to talk as loudly as possible without it escalating into shouts. It was hard to gauge how far his voice carried in this room, and he silently prayed that he would be understood. The Father then reached out his arm, offering his old, worn hand to Alexander. Alexander reciprocated the gesture, taking the Father’s hand with his right, while positioning his left underneath, pressing its palm up against the father’s wrist. Meanwhile, the father lowered his left onto Alexander’s wrist from above, holding his hand as if he was blessing it. “Alexander!” Father Mokoena loudly greeted him, and Alexander almost flinched at the intensity of his voice up close. If that was what it took to be heard around here, then his own words would merely come across as a whimper. He truly hoped that the old preacher was just overdoing it with h
is enthusiasm. “You have finally found your treacherous sea, it seems!” “Indeed,” Alexander replied and really just couldn’t measure up to the Father’s incredible voice no matter how he tried. What an impressive organ. “And I am prepared to guide my fellow men through it, towards safer ventures.” “And the Lord shall bless your path!” the Father proclaimed, before taking his hands off of Alexander’s again. “May the Lord bless your path,” a gentle echo came from the unseen crowd. “And yours as well,” Alexander replied quickly, having almost forgotten to do so given the stressful situation. The Father nodded deeply, before stepping away from Alexander and in front of the crowd again for a second, as he raised his arms high and declared, “Tell us about your treacherous path, Guide Alexander, so we veer from
it with you!” Then, with another flourishing movement of his robes, he stepped back and aside, leaving Alexander basically alone in front of the many unseen eyes watching him. Even after years of waiting, he wasn’t truly prepared for this. For the briefest of moments, he imagined just walking off. But no. He had to do this. This is what he had lived for. His entire life up until now had led up to this moment. “I am telling you all no secret when I say that the recent times
have been turmoil filled ones,” he began to speak, getting right to the matter at hand without any greetings or big introductions. The air around him felt heavy, and the room was so quiet whenever he didn’t speak that he could hear the lights above softly buzzing with electricity. The old wood under his feet gently cracked whenever he shifted his weight, and he was sure that it could be heard all the way up in the top rows whenever it happened. “As all of you who have come together here know, we stand in front of a huge danger. You do not need a guide to tell you that treading in the domain of a realized leads to peril. Such an affront needs no explanation on my side.” He swallowed heavily, truly hoping that they had not all come together to hear him proclaim that he would guide them against the A.I. That was simply no task for a G
uide. Yet hopefully the others understood this as well and
did not think that he was avoiding the threat in order to pick an easier mission for himself. After all, he would still gain its ire with his words, he was sure, even if it was not his declared danger. Swallowing again, he continued, “No, I am here today to talk with you about something else. About someone else. Someone whose words have touched many; and
influenced even more. A man who was thrust into conflict against his will. Hurtled into the chaos, he fought, and the galaxy shook before him. A man known to the entire Galaxy obviously needs no introduction, but I would still like to take a moment to list James Aldwin’s achievements to give you a better picture of what I am talking about. Before his life was thrust into conflict, he used to dedicate his time to the improvement of life. He took some of nature’s gifts, and he used them to make new things that would aide people in need. Medicine was his claimed goal, and although he never got to reach that state, he had the clear intention to make life easier for many with his inventions, caring little for where they came from. Then, after his life changed for the worse, his focus shifted. Instead of trying to safe the ill somewhere in the future, he instead dedicated himself to saving people right here and now.”
Talking himself up into a bit of a frenzy, Alexander began to walk back and forth on the stage without even fully realizing that he was doing it. The blinding spotlights were still turning everything that wasn’t the stage into a dark, blocked out void. Night had been separated from day, and he was standing in the sun.
“He turned his focus onto those he thought to be like him,” he explained, starting to make wide gestures with his arms that caused his robe to move in flowing downward waves, embellishing his movements even further. “Those whose lives had been thrown into chaos through no doing of their own. Those born into it. Those ousted. Those who felt ‘othered’ by the world. The pariahs. He promised them acceptance, with little care for who they were.”
He then stopped his pacing for a moment to fully face the crowd, his gaze turning upwards so they would all be able to see it.
“Even when faced with one of our world’s greatest calamities asking him to take it in, he did not cave,” Alexander proclaimed, and he could feel himself tapping into potential of his lungs that he didn’t know he had within him, as his voice boomed throughout the theater. “Despite knowing of the danger in his path, he walked it all the way. Truly, what kind of man is it that will turn no one away? What kind of man who puts himself on the wayside to help others? What kind of man that cares not for who or how?”
“A Saint!” a booming echo came back from the crowd, and Alexander could feel the vibrations of their roar beneath his feet as it rolled over him.
“Indeed,” he replied to the people. “After seeing the path he walked, I say that his actions are worthy of nothing less than sanctity!”
A sound came back from the crowd that was hard to describe. It was neither jeering nor cheering, but something entirely in between. A deep rumble that filled the air with almost nonsensical noise as it escaped the mouths of hundreds of people who reacted to his declaration.
Alexander now lifted his arms in a wide arch, as if he wanted to beckon the crowd into an embrace.
“By the Ministry of the Church of the Failed Savior, bestowed upon me as your new Guide, I hereby proclaim James Aldwin as the Patron of Realized Sapience!” he loudly declared, and the noise of the crowd picked up in intensity.
He took a deep breath while letting the sound slowly fade out, although he didn’t wait for the people to be completely quiet before he let his arms sink again and continued in a milder tone.
“Sanctity is a dangerous path,” he said as he began to slowly pace along the stage again, this time with collected, measured movements. “The Saints walk it, and they invite all who will to follow. They do not warn them of the danger. In fact, they encourage all to face it. Proclaiming their path as the right one, they tell all who follow to not stray from it, no matter the danger. It is a dangerous thing indeed, such a Saint.”
He stopped again, but this time, he didn’t face the crowd. Turned to the side, he stared straight ahead, his eyes fixating on a part of the folded, red curtains while his mind went to a different place.
“Saint Aldwin believes himself to walk the right path, and nothing is holy to him, neither on Earth nor in Heaven, man made or God given, but that which allows him to follow it,” he said, still loud, but a lot more restrained in emotion. “He believes himself to be a protector. A shepherd. A…savior.”
This time, the jeering of the crowd was palpable, as the ground once again shook with it. Any sense of good will had disappeared from the noise.
Now, Alexander waited for it to completely die down. Calm and quietly, he stood there without moving a muscle for minutes on end while the sound gradually faded out.
Only when he could have heard a pin drop in the enormous room did he speak up again.
“As your new Guide, I promise to show you the way to the safe road. I promise to disarm traps and sweep away obstacles in your way. I promise to keep my sight on the destination, and to always point you in the right direction should you stay. And…” he paused for a moment to take a deep breath, before he continued louder than before, lifting his head high as he did so. “And I promise to veer you off the paths of all the Saints and Doomed to Fail Saviors who would have you walk with them into hell!”
A cheering broke out in the crowd, going so far that some of the people began to drum their feet on the ground in a wild, rhythmless thunder.
Meanwhile Alexander turned around to face the man behind him.
Father Mokoena had a wide smile on his wrinkled face as he walked back up to him, his hand extended. As they repeated the same gesture they had given each other earlier, the Father loudly announced,
“God bless your path, Guide.”
“Thank you, Father,” Alexander replied with a deep nod. “I am going to need it.”
After a moment, they let go off each other’s hands again, and Alexander wordlessly walked back off the stage, while Father Mokoena already loudly addressed the crowd again.
Behind the curtain just off the stage, Brother Anders was still waiting for him.
“A captivating speech,” the muscular man complimented him with a brief faux applause he hinted at with his hands, not actually clapping so he wouldn’t disturb the sermon. “But was that a reference I spotted in the middle of it there?”
Alexander scoffed at the man.
“All speeches have references,” he said while he passed the Brother, folding his hands behind his back as he went.
Anders looked after him in mild confusion.
“Aren’t you going to stay and hear the sermon?” he asked as Alexander was already disappearing away from the stage again.
“My faith is between me and our Lord,” Alexander explained as he shook his head. “My prayer does not need an advocate.”
No, instead of wasting time listening to a sermon of prayers that he could speak himself, he decided to instead use it to look after those who were in need of his guidance.
Walking back to from whence he came, he passed his earlier cloakroom and traversed the hallways all the way to a larger, much more open changing room, that would usually most likely house droves of actors or other performers in marvelous costumes before they would go out on stage to dazzle the masses.
Today, however, it was home to a much sadder sight.
Laid out on two benches, surrounded by their peers, were two truly pitiful casualties of conflict. As he walked in, their ears twitched and they began to look up in erratic movements, their muscles twitching and shivering as if under immense stress from just the simple movements, and even after their head was lifted, it was stuck in a constant quiver.
Meanwhile, their far healthier compatriots also turned towards him, their gazes dark and eyes sharp, while their agitated tails whipped through the air like angry flails.
“How are you feeling?” Alexander asked the first of the two clearly ill myiat who met his gaze.
“According to the…circumstances,” the man replied, his voice about as jittery as his posture as he spoke. His name was Mirrakshra. A good man, suffering a bad fate.
Meanwhile, one of their healthy compatriots, a dark-skinned fellow with a scar from a cut right over his cheekbone that had accompanied Alexander since back on Dunnima, glared at Alexander with fiery eyes as he saw the kind of robe he wore.
“If you’re going to try some sort of faith-healing bullshit, then I swear to-“ he began, however Alexander cut him off harshly.
“You shouldn’t swear, Eskfotarra. Not on heaven or on Earth,” he reprimanded him with firm words. Then he smirked, “You may promise to harm me all you like, however. But no, that’s not why I’m here. I’m not a fool. I know I can’t work miracles. I simply worry about his wellbeing.”
“It’s al..alright,” Mirrakshra quelled the worries of his friend. “Y-y-you got news?”
Alexander exhaled disappointedly.
“Sadly, yes,” he said and looked away. “It seems that some of our allies have…how do you say…jumped the gun? They attempted to exterminate the affront prematurely, and in the process, have only made it all the more enduring, it seems.”
Eskfotarra scoffed and his ears twitched slightly as his tail slowed to a gradual sway.
“So, she’s out now?” he correctly assumed, and the smirk on his face told of him not finding those circumstances all too disagreeable. An unfortunate choice, but his to make.
“Indeed,” Alexander replied. “And at the scale we’re currently working at, I’m afraid it’s going to be hard to stamp it out.”
By now, the AI might have infected the entire Galaxy. There was no telling of the kind of hardships they would soon face because of it.
However, Eskfotarra just glanced down at his ill friends again as his grimace soured.
“And Aldwin?” he asked darkly.
Alexander lifted his arms with open palms and shrugged.
“Hidden away where we cannot reach him, at least for the moment,” he explained.
The myiat aggressively clicked his tongue and hissed through his teeth.
“Then when will we be able to reach him?” he asked, his claws unfurling on his arm, cutting into the sleeve of his shirt. “It’s high time that he answers for a lot of things.”
In a picture that should be grotesque but could only be described as empathetic, the quivering, injured feline laying before him looked up at his healthy friend with pity, while wrath seemingly consumed Eskfotarra.
Alexander nodded.
“I’m sure he would agree with you there,” he pointed out, seeing as Aldwin had never been shy to point out his own misdeeds. “That is why sooner or later, he is going to make it possible. The danger is the nature of a Saint.”

2023.03.21 20:14 ComprehensiveRoll484 The key ways to enjoy playing Raid for New to End-Game players
- Play as little as you want.
- Play as much as you want.
- There is no expectation or requirement on how long it should take for your own progress.
- Stop comparing yourself to others. Dungeon lvls, Doom Tower lvls etc and content completed based on 'Days Played as F2P' is irrelevant to your own style and preconceived knowledge (a F2P after playing a main account)
- Set your own pace; regardless of Events, Tournaments, Fusions, CVC, etc. If you can go for one great, but never feel the need to 100% or complete all or main 'current' events.
- Release the expectation of winning *top slots* in any tourney.
- Use events as a 'Dip Into' mechanic, in which you can acquire additional extra resources, but are not required to get any or all of them.
- Pulling Shards - Should not be a 'Rapid Fire unleashing of the masses for event points' but rather slow down and take appreciation for getting NEW champions. ( In my opinion, one of the best aspects of this game is champion design and aesthetics. Read their abilities, scroll and zoom around their champion model, enjoy the graphics and appreciate the small details and character model on each champion. And then DREAM of the builds you can make with that champ!
- There are more than 1 ways to slice the I mean this game was designed with around 20 - 30 Debuffs/Buffs but with Champions in the 300 - 500 range. Do some very bad math and that says you can find many champions abilities overlaps to 'Fill the Role' that you need. Debuffs such as Decrease Defense look that up and find how many champions cast that in some sort or another. Be it single vs aoe Example: Many RARE champions offer debuffs that often surpass that of other Epics.
- Just have fun. who cares. why are you reading reddit right now just go stare at your champs.
- The best 'limited time' events in the whole game are REDUCE SILVER COST OF MOVING GEAR -- Sometimes it was just 50% reduced silver cost for removing gear but on 1 occasion was 100% free. Take advantage of this and remove all gear from all chars for a free/fresh chance at regearing any/all champs you have. The more champs/gear you already have, the more valuable these 'reduce gear removal cost' events are. That is the opposite from all other events that involve spending vs what you already acquired and that is why I argue these events are the most 'valuable' to the player.
- Compare your desire for other activities to determine if the addiction is palpable. How much/how often do you interact with Raid. Even if to set auto-clicks and auto battles to play more hours than you stare or pay attention to. Consider what is reasonable time investment for your own lifestyle
