I graduate next month but I regret the last 5 years of my life I’ve wasted getting my degree. I don’t even want it anymore. If it wouldn’t upset everyone else in my life I would quit now.
I’ll be getting a degree in biology. Which I learned it super useless in today’s world unless you want to pursue a medical career. Even if I were extroverted enough to want a medical career, I’m quite literally not intelligent enough. My grades are shit. I’ve barely scraped by for this half-decade. One reason it took me so long is because I had to re-take courses that I’d failed.
Where I live, a bachelor’s in biology is worthless. Everyone wants experience and a masters/PhD. Jobs that are okay with a bachelor’s pay roughly $13-$15/hr. I do acknowledge that my state is literally 49/50 in opportunities for bio graduates but I can’t afford to move anywhere else. I am also, of course, in student debt.
I just feel defeated. I’ve wasted so much time and money on this degree. I’ll be beginning my “adult” life in debt and with a job that pays less than retail.
I went into this field because I wanted to make a difference in the world somehow. But I really don’t care anymore. Differences don’t matter. Money does.
I know this place isn’t for advice, but if anyone has any it would be appreciated. I’m thinking about going to trade school after my debt is paid off. I don’t know anymore.

Norn doesn't get much love from the community. One of the main reasons is because she is mean to Rudeus and usually behaves like a super bratty and spoiled child. I must say, reading her chapters is extremely annoying if you don't truly understand her, and I, myself, am guilty of thinking like that in the past.
Then, in Magonote-sensei's interview for ANN, he was asked, and answered:

If you could tell the story through any other character's point of view, who would you choose ?
Norn, I suppose. I think that every character has their own story to tell, but I think she would be interesting as a character who treats trivial things as matters of great importance.

From a purely technical and intellectual point of view, I understood that. The normal kid amongst the genius siblings is indeed an interesting story to tell. But, I didn't get it-get it until yesterday. I have been curating some chapters of the light novel to be read on the Psyculturists stream. I am preparing the chapter of the dinner between Rudeus, Paul, Norn, and Eris.
Mostly, I'm just separating paragraphs to make Ed's reading easier, but I happened to read Norn's defence of Paul. She went off on Rudeus telling him how hard her daddy has been working without rest and how she feels sorry for him. Paul was a bit taken by surprise and so was I.
That bit started conjuring certain images in my mind. Images of parents who only eat one meal a day so their children can have 2 or 3, parents who take a second and a third job so their kids can go to a good school. In poor countries, or in unequal countries such as the US or my own Brazil, situations like that are more common than we would like to admit. Paul was pretty much doing the medieval version of that for Norn, and here's the kicker: she knew it.
By that, I mean she understood that her father was carrying a heavier burden than he had to. Not only for her sake, but for the sake of others. Her daddy wasn't only her personal hero, like the daddies of other kids, he was actually the hero of the whole squad, so he was a bona fide hero. She also understood that. She was only 5 or 6 years old. She shouldn't understand that, but she did.
So she tried to help her daddy however she could, but... Well, she was just 5-6 years old, there was only so much she could do. Here's the thing, she didn't understand it on an intellectual level, like Aisha would, she could feel it though. Norn feels a lot, she's deeply empathetic. From some spoilery knowledge, it's pretty obvious she's got the soul of an artist, and a good portion of artsy people are very in touch with their feelings and the feelings of others. She also knows how everybody around them also admires and loves Paul.
Then, while she's trying her best to cheer her daddy up, some idiot comes and starts punching him? Yeah, she's gonna hate him, because the injustice is such an outrage. What's actually strange is the community (myself included up until now) hating on her character for doing exactly what she's supposed to do to move the story forward. Mind you, this exactly the same way Eris thinks, but she is 13, not 6 so she can articulate her feelings better. She still wanted to murder Paul though.
Norn also faces another hardship, which is the hardship of having a talent nobody values, but I'll wait until she gets more screentime in the anime. (Actually, I'm still re-reading volume 5). The main point is that her character becomes a lot more interesting when you realise the type of story Rifujin na Magonote-sensei is trying to tell with her.
Also, go re-watch the opening of episode 17 and pay attention to how they told Eris' story,

Hi everyone, so for the past year we’ve been dealing with our downstairs NFH and it’s driving me insane. I’m not sure what to do anymore.
Background: We live in a suburb in NYC, in a 13-floor building with multiple neighbors above and below us. my fiancé and me moved into our apartment last March. We don’t have pets, and at the time when we moved in, I was about 20 weeks pregnant with our daughter. We don’t have any other children. My boyfriend works in banking and leaves at 7 am every day and returns at 7 pm. I’m in PA school, so from March - December I left for school at 2 pm and returned at 10 pm. During the day I would study. Now I’m on rotations, so I’m gone M-F from around 8 am - 5 pm. Our daughter is 7 months old and doesn’t walk or crawl yet. My mom takes care of the baby during the day, but they usually leave to run errands, park or library.
Our downstairs neighbor started placing multiple noise complaints very shortly after we moved in. Security would come to our apartment weekly and tell us that she was complaining about children running and playing. At this point, I was still very pregnant and our apartment barely had furniture. My fiancé would answer the door and tell them that we didn’t have children yet. By the third time, my fiance asked me to open the door so that they would see my belly. Security felt bad and told the neighbor that there were no children in the apartment.
The complaints stopped for a bit and then they started again when we bought our dining room table. She started sending security again and started making calls to management about the chairs moving. Once my fiancé called me frantically while I was studying to ask me what I was doing. He had management on the other line saying that I was making noise in the apartment for hours. I was studying for an exam and occasionally standing up to use the bathroom. After that, we put little felt pieces under the chairs.
At this point, I had a conversation with management to explain our work/school schedules. Management was understanding and said they would have a talk with her. Management asked me if we had carpeting in our apartment. I told them we have area rugs in the living room, with the couch and coffee table, a rug in the baby’s room, and one in the bedroom under our bed. Security was still being called almost 2x a month.
Once I delivered I had to return to school since my program doesn’t offer maternity leave so my fiancé took paternity leave to care for the baby. She was still sending security to the apartment while he was home caring for a newborn. Often times he would be napping or on the couch with the baby when security would come over. One time he woke up to NYPD knocking on the door over a noise complaint and he was napping in the bedroom. The police officers were visibly very upset, according to my fiancé when they saw that the apartment was dark and he had a sleeping newborn in his arms. They left and said to ignore her.
At some point when my daughter was about 3 months old and security was still being called, I got very frustrated. I asked security to accompany me to speak with her myself. They took us downstairs. She was extremely aggressive from the beginning while I was trying to calmly explain to her that we don’t know where the noises she hears are coming from. She kept mentioning a screeching sound from the table. We told her we placed the felt pieces. She asked us if we had carpeting in our apartment, we told her no, but we had rugs and didn’t have one under the table because we felt it was unsanitary to have one there in case food fell on it. I gave her my number and asked her to text me when she heard noises so we can try to fix the issue. She said she still heard children running. I pointed to the baby and said that she was the only child and she was only 3 months old so it was not possible that it was her. My neighbors in the apartment next to mine (we share the living room wall) have children that do run a lot. She was complaining about the noise in her living room. She was on the phone with her boyfriend, who said “he can hear the noise too” 😒. She apologized briefly and told me she’d text me.
So sometime later, she texted me when she thought she heard the noise. We ran some noise tests and couldn’t reproduce the noise she was talking about using any furniture in our apartment. The only time we could hear something is when I actually slammed the chair. I told her I was sorry she was hearing those sounds but it was not coming from our apartment.
She texted me again when I was on rotation all the way in another borough, and I told her no one was home so the noise wasn’t from our apartment.
She texted me again yesterday to complain of balls dropping in our bedroom (over the master bedroom) and about footsteps at 6 am (that one was definitely my fiancé walking around in his work shoes). She was very nasty this time and stated that she was going to call management and set up a meeting to inspect our apartment because of the noise.
I spoke to management again and they got upset with me. They stated that she hasn’t called since July 2022. I told them she was texting me the complaints and I had no explanation for the noises she was hearing and that it was becoming too much for us bc we feel like we can’t even walk around our apartment without a possible complaint.
I said: “it feels like she wants us to carpet our apartment and I’m not doing that. I have allergies and it’s out of our budget.”
Management said: “well per your lease, you’re supposed to have carpet in 80% of the apartment, except the kitchen and bathroom. We usually don’t enforce it, but if the noise complaints are excessive, we do enforce it. Also, since she hasn’t called since July, it looks like YOU are starting the complaints now.”
I was confused because it feels like this woman has been harassing us for over a year now. I looked at the lease and the lease did state that there needs to be carpeting in 80% of the apartment, but here is what I’m confused about:

1. The apartments come with hardwood floors and no carpeting
2. The lease states that any carpeting must be removed before releasing the apartment back to them when moving out
3. If we don’t remove the carpeting, we lose our deposit AND they charge us $15/sq ft to remove the carpet.
4. If the wood floor is damaged from carpet removal/installation, we must pay to repair the wood floors.

So all in all they would want us to spend thousands of dollars out of our pocket carpeting and removing to appease this neighbor if she chooses to escalate it this way and it seems that this is the route she’s taking. She’s aware that our apartment is lacking carpet and only has area rugs bc security told her when they visited our apartment.
She texted me again today at 3 am to say she heard balls dropping. We were sleeping at 3 am and the baby sleeps through the night without toys in her crib. I responded at 9 am saying it wasn’t us bc we were sleeping at that time.
We’ve tried to call remove sources of noise in the following way:

1. No shoes in the apartment. I asked my fiancé to put his work shoes on only when he was about to leave.
2. We don’t sit at our dining table. So often we sit on the couch to eat or sometimes the floor
3. My fiancé likes to listen to TV loud, he’s been avoiding that for months, and when he plays videos games, he uses headphones
4. The baby only plays with her toys on our bed or on the couch so she can’t hear her playing

At this point, I don’t know what to do. Our options seem to be:

1. move out, but that’s difficult bc money is a little tight.
2. The leasing agent who helped us get the apartment is good friends with my stepdad and we were thinking of asking him if he could help us switch apartments
3. I don’t think there’s anything legally we can do, especially because we are the upstairs neighbors. My stepfather’s lawyer could maybe look at the lease and give us advice. I might go this route before doing anything
4. place a carpet large enough to cover the majority of the living room area with some foam padding under the table and see if that solves the issue. Although, I'm not convinced it will, because now she is complaining about a noise in the bedroom that she wasn't before. I feel like she is going to complain until every inch of my apartment is carpeted, and even then, still complain

My dog needs TPLO surgery and my car needs a transmission switch. I need just over $900 dollars, asking for $1,000. Prearranged.

This is a small rant. I drove an hour for an interview yesterday. I applied and sent my resume in last week for the only job that pays $20/h and is only on weekdays near me. They called me and said that my resume indicates that I’m qualified for the position so we scheduled an interview. I got up at 5 a.m. and got ready for the interview. I got dressed up and arrived 15 minutes early. When I got there, they informed me that it was a group interview. So I waited with the group for 40 minutes. The interviewer brought us to a loud break room and had us fill out a small paper. The interviewer went over the job. The company lied on indeed. They pay by production, the scheduling was only for the weekends, and the 10 hr shifts were actually 12-16 hr shifts. At this point, I was still interested because it stills pays more than my current job by a good bit. The interviewer looked at my paper, asked me one question about my current job, then said that I wasn’t qualified for the position and that was it. I wasted 3 hours going to this place and I took off for the day so I could go to this interview. I’m quite infuriated. I lost $100, in gas and my hours, going to this interview. Why did they say I was qualified if they knew that they were going to reject me. God, the job market is trash near me. Most jobs near me in the south pay only $13-15/hr even with a bachelor’s degree. I’m still applying to places but every job I’ve applied to has 200+ other people applying. I can barely afford groceries on my current pay. I’m just thankful that my partner has a decent paying job right now and he’s more than willing to help support me.

• I would prefer no herding breeds. They are generally Too Intense for my preference. Other than that Im fairly open to most breeds.

• I have trained my Chess in retriever training, but I dont really want to train this next dog in anything in particular, unless it would benefit the dog.

• I work hybrid so I'll be at home for most of the day. Training is dispersed throughout the day, as are walks and play time.

• We walk about 30-45 minutes a day, plus playtime in the yard. My current dog does a lot of fetch and swimming. No dog parks generally.

1. How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?

• Minimal grooming preferred. I clear ears and trim nails every week or so and give baths as needed. But prefer minimal brushing and haircuts.

• Shedding doesn't bother me. Barking can be alert barking and such, but nothing much more vocal. Not a fan of slobber.

• Fairly important. I am willing to put in as much training as necessary for reliable recall.

Kelly, what is your plan if anything were to happen to you? You, or a family member, originally reached out to me regarding Mortgage protection insurance. Most players look at Lady Anna in Fire Emblem Engage and either ignore her because she starts as a level 5 Axe Fighter or build her towards Mage Knight to take advantage of her high Mag and Spd growths. I’m here to inform you that while the Mage Knight route is powerful, Anna may be the best Warrior in the game- and no Second Seal required!
Now you may be skeptical. She’s a Mag/Spd character, how could she possibly be the “best” at a physical class? Warrior Anna has 2 things going for her: Warrior’s above average growths and bases, and Radiant Bow being the best Bow in the game. In early game Maddening she’ll have enough StSpd to ORKO enemies, and once her Str side damage starts to fall off, Radiant Bow kicks in. The result is her being a better mixed attacker than most other characters in the game, having the StMag/Spd to manage a wide amount of threats and OHKO endgame Maddening Fliers. Oh, by the way, if you didn’t know, she also has a Lck% chance to get 500 Gold every time she KOs an enemy.
Starting Out
As cool as the end product is, getting this “helpless trainee” unit there has to be infuriating, right? It’s not. Micaiah Emblem is right there to glide her to level 10 with minimal effort. Now, the anti-Anna committee doesn’t like that idea. We’re “babying” her. “Denying” other units the opportunity to press “Great Sacrifice” a few times for exp. Well, that’s fine. Just give her Marth then.
With Marth, Anna will be slashing more than prices, ORKOing everything but the Armors and Sword Fliers in Chapter 7, right out of the box at level 5 with Mercurius, Divine Speed, and Break Defenses. The Axe Cavaliers don’t need as much thought, as Anna can just OHKO them with a Poleaxe+3. Same deal in Chapter 8, but the Corrupted Axe Fighters might need a little extra damage support, either through cooking, a tonic, or someone with the Alfonse Bond Ring being nearby.
If an Emblem isn't in the cards for her, Anna is as competent as Boucheron is at finishing stuff off and providing Chain Attack support. Boucheron does have more Bld, but at this stage in the game the Spd/Bld doesn’t come into play as much as you’d think. “But Boucheron should be a level or two ahead by the time you get Anna!” It doesn’t matter. We’re not even past Solm yet. They’re getting mostly the same KOs and the whole point of using Anna is her mixed attacking swag, which all other Warriors at this point won’t have, and her ability to generate money, which no one but her has. If you don’t want to play with Anna no one is forcing you to, but don’t pretend it’s some great sacrifice to include her on your team in the earlygame when it isn’t.
Promotion Time
In general, my promotion priority order is Jean d/t the growth change(if you’re using him)>Staff Access>Bow Access. Usually my promotes are Chloe, Celine/Citrinne, and a bow unit, roughly in that order. In this scenario, the flex is Anna. I’ve delayed Alear’s promotion in every run and it doesn’t matter. Louis similarly doesn’t care about promoting that much. Overall, very few characters are really impacted by the growth change, it’s more about the Staff and Bow access. If you don’t want to promote Anna before Chapter 10, that’s ok, she won’t be impacted negatively by it. I only recommend it as having Bow access is valuable and the Warriors bases are strong.
Anna Skills & the Midgame
Canter is generally enough for Anna, making her 2nd Skill slot flexible. You can give her +2-3 Spd to take some pressure off her doubling but it isn’t mandatory. I usually go with +Lck, others may like Dual Assist or a Dmg skill more. When it comes to most of the StMag/Spd/Bld checks highlighted in this post, Warrior Anna will be on point as long as she has a +1-2 Spd Bond Ring (have the Anna wear the Anna Ring?) and you’re cooking Spd food. That Poleaxe+3 from Chapter 7? Warrior Anna has enough Str to OHKO the Wolf Knights in Chapter 13 with it too.
Once you get a Radiant Bow, it’s recommended to take it to +3-4, as it will better enable Anna to ORKO Generals right away. All serious Mag Bow users will want a 23-25 Mt Radiant Bow in the end game anyways to OHKO both Griffin and Wyvern Knights, so it isn't an unusual investment here.
Depending on where Anna’s at by Chapter 17, she may either want Byleth as her Emblem (for the Mag/Spd/Lck), a single friend chain attacking, or a damage boosting skill to consistently ORKO the Generals there. Emblem, level, skill, and chain attack depending, she may also be short on damage for the Halberdiers or short on Spd if she uses a Killer Axe to solve the StMt. Killer Bow+3 enables her to consistently ORKO the Barbarian’s and Royal Knights though. So the lower path might be better for her to tackle if you divide your army for this map and are unsure of your Anna’s consistency.
“Hold the phone. Radiant Bow+3? Killer Bow+3??? BABYING?!?! BABYING!! NOT STRONG! NOT INDEPENDENT CHARACTER!!!” If you’re not forging your weapons, then very few of your characters are ORKOing at this stage in the game and almost none of them will be ORKOing later on. The Poleaxe, Radiant Bow, and Killer Weapons are of the best value weapons in the game to forge too. Not to mention that Anna pays for her forges, unlike the 9-13 freeloaders in your party. Citrinne literally has buying-an-island-as-a-gift purchasing power and cannot be bothered to even upgrade her own equipment!
The Lategame
Chapter 21 and beyond is where Anna truly shines as a Mag Warrior, as she’ll reach the 96 Mag/Mt damage threshold for OHKOing Griffin and Wyvern Knights more easily than all but two other characters. Citrinne can do it, but Citrinne is a pretty poor Bow user for your entire run and is a Zhongli tier freeloader. Mauvier can also flex into the role, but is slow, limiting his non-Flier and non-General KOing power. Aside from specific class pathways, all other characters will require some extra degree of Mystic Dust, Engraving, and/or Skill love to OHKO Fliers as easily as Warrior Anna. This is where Warrior Anna goes from matching WarrioCupido!Fogado to surpassing him. Oh, and there’s also the tens of thousands of Gold she’ll happen to pick up along the way.
“Best” Emblems
Without DLC, generally anything that provides Spd will be appreciated if you don’t Skill Spd and/or Speed Wing Anna. Byleth is a particularly good option, as he provides Mag, Spd, and Lck. Dance + Canter + Longbow is quite useful too, and Anna’s pretty competent with Byleth’s engage weapons. That said, Thyrsus is one hell of a drug and I know a lot of people love to use Dragon+Byleth for the spectrum dance/rally.
Marth is a solid option once you get him back, as the Spd, Sword, Break Defenses, and Divine Spd are all strong effects. Eirika is a strong choice too, as she synergizes with Anna’s mixed attacking role and enables her to punch well above her weight. You’ll likely need to give Anna Skill Spd or Speed Wing support at some point though. Roy isn’t bad, as his Rise Above Spd/Bld hike will usually get her where she wants to be, but Roy’s utility feels like the most dependent on engaging. Engage+ is also a strong option for mixed attackers in general. There’s also nothing wrong with having Anna be more supportive with Micaiah either. She won’t ORKO as much, but she can group Rewarp + Chain Attack and still take out endgame Fliers and Armors. And needless to say, Lyn is fantastic on nearly anyone, I just prefer her on higher Str characters.
For DLCers, Tiki, Veronica, and Chrom standout to me. I still feel Byleth>these, but they’re all competitive with Marth and Eirika. Of the bunch, I like Tiki early game with a transition into Veronica + Starsphere Skill once you get a Radiant Bow (dropping Starsphere around Bld 13-14 in favor of Dual Assist+ or HP/Lck). The perk here is that a Backup’s Summons are always treated as Backups and Reprisal can enable Anna to punch well above her weight at times. This isn’t to suggest Chrom is the worst of the bunch, the StSpd/Mag, free backup, and Brute Force all do a lot for Anna. Anna’s also a competent Edelgard driver, I just prefer Edelgard on more StSpd focused characters. Camilla also provides Spd and Flying, but I feel other characters appreciate her more. After Starsphere though, you could put anyone on Anna and she'll be doing numbers.
Closing Thoughts
When I think of the “best” characters in FE Engage, characters that will nearly always improve your gameplay experience, Chloe, Kagetsu, and Panette are the big 3 that come to mind. Lady Anna isn’t as impressive as they are, but her unique role as money maker has been a huge boon in my current run. Since doing my Weapon/ORKO guide, on my current run, I’ve been pushing the limits of optimized forging. I’m just approaching chapter 21 right now and have been perpetually broke. Without Anna’s charitable efforts, my casters would likely be rolling with just Bolganone+0, my melee’s without +5 Killer weapons, and so on.
Maximizing your forge potential isn’t essential to beat the game, but it has made clearing maps a whole lot more consistent for me. So if nothing else, give Warrior Anna a shot in your next run. If you’re dissatisfied, I’ll refund you 10 million gold.
