My husband (M51) and I (F45) have been married for 20 years this year and We have two teenagers.
On Wednesday my husband sent me a sweet text asking me to go on a date night with him on Friday night (tonight). It had been a while and I was so excited leaving work tonight. I picked up drive through for the kids on the way home and then the two of us went to our favorite Mexican restaurant for good food and a mango margarita.
The conversation started out a little rough because there has been a lot of tension with the kids since I went back to work full time but I feel like we were really getting somewhere and reconnecting. As we were finishing up dinner we got a panicked call from our 16 year old saying that there was a big boom and water started spraying all over the kitchen upstairs, out the side of the house, and all over the basement causing a flood.
We both sat there staring at each other for a second trying to decide if the teenager was over reacting or playing a prank on us. The face time video made it clear that he was not. So while I paid the bill so we could leave in a hurry, he got up to walk the kid through how to turn off the water to the house. At that point I burst out laughing leaving the restaurant and couldn’t stop. I’m pretty sure it was a combination of the margarita and some kind of stress reaction.
Rushing home, we were talking about next steps and trying to figure out a plan in the car when all of a sudden the ring door bell camera alerts that there is someone at the door. So I check it and it is the COPS. Seriously?!
We pulled in the driveway as I watched the cops start to ask my kids what is going on on the camera. They said the neighbors heard gunshots coming from inside our house. At this point my kid comes running out saying the pipes blew up! My husband told them that we had been out on a date and had to rush home because of the pipes but that they were welcome to come in and check out the mess.
They must have took pity on us because they were heading down the driveway back to their cars as soon as we started in to survey the damage.
Needless to say, it’s going to be a rough weekend of flood clean up and I’m pretty sure there is going to be some PTSD response next time my husband asks me out for a date night again. Lol

Hi, we are a couple in our late 30s/early 40s looking to vacation in the area with our toddler. Are there certain parts of town you recommend?
We live in the Jacksonville area and have never been to 30A. Every time I try to explore towns to visit in the area I get overwhelmed by the options.
We typically go to Anna Maria Island each year for vacation but are looking for a change of scenery that’s within driving distance from Jacksonville.
We like walkable communities where we do not have to overly rely on our car during vacation. We also like the beach and places where we can bring or rent beach chairs.
We like to be near a few local restaurants but are not into the bar scene.
Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm in a pretty niche industry. Let's say I'm in the restaurant business, I have been working as a chef along with other chefs in a pretty big restaurant group. We all have our sous chefs and direct reports. Most of the heavy liftings are done by them. We get paid for our expertise, in a way. I'm good at what I do and get things done quick. I have been wanting to do more in the industry and learn to do the business part of the industry. The fact that I only work 2-3 hours a day bores me, I'm not gaining any new knowledge. I can't ask for a promotion because I haven't done anything above and beyond outside of my primary responsibilities. I'm not allowed to work/touch management stuff or other chef's orders.
I have looked and interviewed for similiar position at other places, most of them pay 10-40k less and those places require 5X days a week in the office or hard/non negotiable in office days.
I have tried applying for non-chef positions in my industry but of course, they require experience and my background does not match they say.
I love this industry and want to grow and be at the top but i know if I stay here, I won't go anywhere. The only option I can thing of is to move to other places, take a paycut and hope I can do more over there. It's risky but I'm not sure what else to do.

Hey guys, Long time lurker, but this is my first time posting in the sub. I have a bit of a dilemma. So I (20F) finally got my first car; I am ecstatic to have it, and finally have the freedom to travel wherever I would like. Last night, my friend (19F) and I went to go see a speech at a local university near us. And when the speech had finished, we decided that we were going to stop at a restaurant before going to our respective apartments (we live near each other). The restaurant that we were going to didn’t have any parking in the parking lot so I ended up having to parallel park on the street. While I was parking, they had first asked me if I was confident in my parallel parking abilities (which I am) but ended up getting out of the car while I was mid-park because I was “stressing them out”. After I parked (successfully, might I add), I asked them if they were OK or if my driving had made them nauseous or anything. At first, they were a little bit hesitant to tell me, because they “didn’t want to seem rude” but eventually told me that I drive like I “just got my license”. I asked them if they could elaborate on how (so I can work on whatever the issue is), but they couldn’t. I ended up kinda brushing it off, because as I said earlier, I just got my car and haven’t driven in a minute. However, after we had eaten dinner and were leaving, they told me that they were just going to walk back to their apartment. I asked them if they were sure, because it was around 9:30 PM and we live in the city. They said yes, I said ok, and we went our separate ways.
I do want to make this clear: I’m not necessarily upset at the fact that they said that I drive like a new driver, I’m upset that they can’t elaborate on what I did wrong, and then decided to walk home alone in the dark.

Before I get asked “Why are you asking a bunch of internet strangers for advice?”..I’m not a parent. I’m her uncle who has had custody for the past almost 3 years. If this post isn’t okay, I’ll delete it. Using a throwaway for her privacy.
Yesterday I got a call from my niece Alexis’ phone but it wasn’t her. It was a shift supervisor at the restaurant that her friends had taken her for her birthday. I was told that two of the girls had left and Lex was left but didn’t have any money. I didn’t know if they were going to call the cops so I told her I was coming to pay. When I got there Lex was sitting in a booth with an uneaten birthday dessert.
The look on her face broke my heart. The hot aid that her two friends told her they were going to get Lex’s gifts from the car & would be back. 30 minutes went by & the host walked through the parking lot 3 times to look for them before telling her supervisor. Instead of grilling Lex infront of everyone I paid+tipped & we left.
In the car I asked her if she knew before they ordered that her friends weren’t going to pay because it could be considered stealing. I told her the meal I just paid for was $80 (my gas money) so she was going to have to pay me some of it out of her savings or get her friends to repay her. She gets a notification that she was tagged in a snapchat by one of the girls about how they just dined & dashed & got a free meal. She starts crying saying “no they aren’t going to pay you or me back!”.
We get home & I ask her if she is comfortable with me reading the messages between her & the girls so I could help figure out what is going on. It took about an hour & I’m genuinely speechless. Lex is a freshman & these girls are juniors. They became “friends” in gym class in Jan. The first time they hung out outside of school was to get smoothies. Lex offered to pay for them (her love language is acts of service & gift giving even though she is young) & it snowballed from there.
These girls would ask her for gas money but tell her they didn’t have time to take her home from school,they would give her the wrong parking lot to be picked up in, or they told her she was taking too long even though she would literally be running to meet up. School lunch is free but there is a place where you can buy fountain pop. icecream, snacks, ect. Nearly everyday they would ask her to get them something & they would pay her back once they got their allowance.
They went shopping one day & Lex bought them all matching shirts to wear on a certain day & they showed up wearing different matching shirts & told her she just forgot which day they were doing it. Gaslighting. Manipulative. PETTY for no reason.
A few days ago Lex told them she needed her $ because the field trip she was saving for was this coming Tuesday. They told her they would bring the $ when they went out to eat because they would be getting their allowance on Thursday (yesterday).
I asked Lex why she was spending so much $ on them she said “this was my first time having friends I thought this is what you do”. These girls are NOT friends. How did she not realize they were just using her? I just don’t know why she would give all her money away. The field trip coming up is something she has been so excited about. It’ll be the first “road trip” she has ever been on. First time on a charter bus. They will be stopping for breakfast, lunch, & dinner.
She has spent hours looking up where they are going to make sure each restaurant has her “safe foods”. It's an elective field trip to two museums & a huge mall with her fine arts class. For xmas & her birthday all she wanted was $, which I gave her. But it wasn’t alot & I really wanted her to have fun so every time it snowed this winter we shoveled driveways for $20 & she got to keep it all.
Now it's all gone & I’m so pissed off that she just blew it. I can’t just give her more. I’m paycheck to paycheck right now. I don’t get a dime from my sister or the state because I haven’t tried for legal custody but since my sister has been in active addiction for years this is something I’m looking into. I told her I could maybe scrounge up $25 for her to take but now she isn’t going to go because “it won’t be fun”.
I just don't understand why she would pay people to be her friends. I asked her what she was going to say or do when she sees them in class/lunch she told me “go back to being alone & go back to eating in the library”. I don't know why she struggles to have friends. Has anyone else’s kid done something like this? Do they struggle to make friends? Have they changed themselves to “fit in”? Any advice is welcome.
TL:DR; My niece was giving money to “friends” under the impression that this is what “friends” do & that she would be paid back. She didn’t want her “friends” to run out of gas or not have treats to eat at lunch. Lex spent over $200 to have “friends” for three months.

I need to know if it’s time to leave my relationship for good or if I need to hold on. (Post is a bit long but needed the context.)
I (F27) have dated my boyfriend (M29) 2 times. The first time starting in 2020 for 8 moths, we broke up for a year and a half most of that NC and then again starting in 2022 up until now making another 8months.
He is sweet funny handsome affectionate and unfortunately suffers from Peter Pan syndrome.
He suffered some traumatic stuff in his childhood, mom in and out of the hospital his entire childhood, has lost several family members and grew up stuck in the bi closet in a red state (we are both bisexual).
As a result of all of those things, he never really matured out of a middle school boy mindset and is terrified of getting older and hospitals.
We broke up the first time because I couldn’t deal with a lot of those issues (I had my own baggage I needed to focus on and while I am playful at times and enjoy laughing a lot I am for the most part a more mature person. We talked for a while as friends and then I heard he was saying awful things about me behind my back and I broke off contact.
I remained friends with several people I met through him and a year and a half later our paths crossed again. He was a lot more toned down, more quiet and contemplative and it seemed like he had finally grown up. We started talking again, he apologized for being an asshole when we broke up and I started to catch feelings for him again. We had a long conversation about all the things that didn’t work with our relationship and what we wanted to do better if we were going to try this again. (As a side note I’m not someone who does the on again off again thing, I’ve only been in a handful of relationships and was wary of making the same mistake again) so we started slow and didn’t tell anyone in case it didn’t work out or one of us changed our minds.
He admitted to me he got really depressed when we broke up and he developed anxiety to the point of getting chest pains at times. I have dealt with some severe depression as well and tried to talk with him about it and bro that up he probably needed to go to therapy. He agreed.
It went really well and I continued to see this more mature behavior (not whining, throwing trash in the ground, making an effort to get a different job so he could get benefits and go to therapy not being so anxious when I leave the room and listening to my needs in the bedroom. So we became a couple again and told everyone.
A matter of months and pretty much all of the more mature behavior I thought I was seeing slipped away. I came to realize it wasn’t him maturing but caused by his anxiety that I wouod break up with him again and when I didn’t and he felt more secure he reverted. We stopped having sex unless I initiated and I started feeling like his mom again. He says he still wants to go to therapy and knows he has issues with maturity and right time and place for certain behavior but at this point I don’t feel romantic love for him and I wonder how long it will take for him to mature. I don’t want to have to constantly push him to do better or be the only adult in this relationship.
We have many similar likes and interests and he does make me laugh a lot and I know those are the things that are supposed to pull you through difficult times in a relationship but I am feeling so drained. I don’t know how long I can wait for him to grow up.

So basically, I have been working on this map for about 3 months at this point, I intended to release it eventually and now that the map is almost complete, I decided to release it so that it could be useful to you guys in the meantime. It was a typical stormy night, and I was home alone, trying to catch up on my favorite TV show. But as the rain pounded against my windows and the wind howled outside, I started to hear strange noises coming from the hallway. At first, I tried to ignore it, but the noise persisted and seemed to be getting louder.
Feeling uneasy, I got up to investigate. When I looked down the dark hallway, I couldn't see anything, and a chill ran down my spine. I quickly shut the door to the hallway, hoping that would make the noise stop. But it didn't. It continued, and I started to feel more and more afraid.
I decided to call my friend for some company, but when I reached for my phone, I realized it was missing. I searched around for it, but it was nowhere to be found. Suddenly, the noise stopped, and I took a deep breath, thinking it was all in my head.
But then I heard a voice whispering my name from behind me. I turned around and saw a figure standing in front of me. It was a humanoid figure, but something was off about it. Its skin was a strange shade of gray, and its eyes were unnaturally large and black. I couldn't move or scream; I was frozen in fear.
The figure stepped closer, and I could see that its movements were jerky and unnatural, like a robot malfunctioning. I realized that this figure was not human but an artificial being. It was so lifelike, yet so different that it sent shivers down my spine.
The being spoke in a monotone voice, "I am here to assist you."
I didn't know what to do. I tried to run, but my legs wouldn't move. I was trapped, alone with this uncanny and unsettling being. The being stepped closer and reached out to touch me, and that's when I woke up, panting and sweating.
It was just a nightmare, but the thought of encountering something so eerily lifelike yet artificial had me questioning my reality. Could it be possible that such beings could exist in our world? And if so, what would they be capable of?
The experience left me shaken, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. I started to notice things around me that seemed off, like mannequins that looked too realistic or robots that moved too smoothly. The line between what was real and what was artificial had blurred, leaving me in a constant state of fear and paranoia.
The uncanny valley had become my reality, and I didn't know how to escape it.

-The Rat and Cat's motives for trying to kill Mary in both FNaC 1 and 2
-Chester being on guard duty in the FNaC 3 'Candy's Adventure' hidden minigame despite him being destroyed by the Rat many years previously
-The previous night guards motives to destroy Blank

So the place that I work at has a three table section rule, which isn’t so bad. Occasionally, when the wait demanded, we were allowed more. They’ve been getting stricter about it recently and hired soooo many new servers. So now there’s never even an extra table to take.
The problem is when it’s slow, ur lucky to have even one, when it’s busy there’s still a chance ur section won’t fill up. There’s so many people you can’t even walk in the kitchen. I feel it being over-stimulating while still having nothing to do.
We do get large parties and it’s always the same people who get the “large party section” and those are the only sections that actually make money. I do get that section every now and then and the difference in my tips at the end of the night is astounding. (I’ll also add that one of the people who is always in that section recently became pregnant and can’t run her food, I know it’s petty to be annoyed by this but with everything else I just don’t feel it’s fair. Idc if she OCCASIONALLY has that section but if ur not even able to do all the work let some others also have a chance.)
I also bartend there. They have a bartender who everyone agrees can’t keep up and has an attitude problem. And tho our managers agree the owner doesn’t want to fix the issues (she has seniority and he’s not around much to actually know how bad she can get). Besides her being awful at her job, they now have two bartenders on some nights to help with “sales”. So now both bartenders are working the same long shift and making a third of their normal tips (if anything). (They are doing this because the awful bartender can’t keep on her own and when they assign her a bar back [another server who helps] she abuses the shit out of them. Idk why they’re willing to pay 2x the amount of people for a job that another QUALIFIED person can do alone. Especially since management is always complaining about labor). She also has the most shifts.
The restaurant has picked up in sales but I’m making so much less money. I love the staff but I don’t think I can stay any longer.
