I'm making a deck tech video about my [[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]] list and want the list to be as fine tuned as possible.
Here is my decklist and thorough primer including combo lines and card discussion.
Death N' Staxes
Why Play Meren (Pro's and Con's)
Meren is a value commander who recently got some very nice toys printed for her arsenal. Her value comes in the form of free reanimation, which lets us abuse stax pieces like [[Plaguecrafter]] and [[Mindslicer]] to control the board. This is also a great form of resilience for all of our creatures.
The negative here is that Meren has no means of advantage herself, and relies on card synergies to truly be useful. While it's generally easy to abuse Meren, it's equally easy to be locked out by common stax pieces like [[Dauthi Voidwalker]], [[Aven Mindcenser]], and [[Opposition Agent]]. These things limit us and mean that pod composition is an important element of our success.
Golgari colours are generally weak, but Meren allows us to use unique stax elements to compensate for our lack of interaction, and abusable creature-based engines to bring our speed up.
New Toys
One of the new pieces we have access to is [[Braids, Arisen Nightmare]], which has shown itself to be a fantastic multi-tool for me. It regularly nets 1-3 cards per turn, it can sacrifice our unwanted stax pieces (such as [[Null Rod]] when we no longer need it), and it can potentially slow down board states. It's a "May" ability as well, meaning we aren't forced into saccing lands in bad situations. We can use Birthing Pod to go Dork>Confidant>Braids>Yawgmoth and have Meren keep them all.
As a stax piece this card isn't super efficient, as it gives the opponents the choice. Instead, we use this card as an engine, which is very good at netting 1-3 cards per turn. So far, in my experience, it has been a better [[Dark Confidant]], but it relies on the meta.
The real game changer we have in our arsenal is [[Saw in Half]]. This piece lets us reasonable and reliably pursue [[Razaketh, The Foulblooded]] lines instead of using them as a backup with [[Squirrel Nest]] [[Earthcraft]].
Golgari RazaHulk gets a huge boost
I feel like I don't see enough lists with this tech, I haven't seen a single Meren list running [[Saw in Half]], but here's why it's so damn cool
Saw in Half goes Infinite with [[Eternal Witness]] and [[Lion's Eye Diamond]] (or [[Culling the Weak]]). The former is a bit easier to pull off and the latter gets around our own artifact hate like [[Collector Ouphe]].
This is very relevant for Golgari RazaHulk in general, so here's the theory behind the lines (I won't be going into the requirements or executions of the combos, that'll be in the primer):
After cheating out Razaketh, we can relatively easily assemble this infinite combo. Once we have infinite tokens, we can infinitely tutor based on life. We tutor for [[Plunge into Darkness]] and that solves our life issue, now we can essentially tutor our whole deck. Then we grab [[Culling Ritual]] and get infinite mana (our tokens have 0 CMC!) then we win however we need too.
Up to and including [[Finale of Devastation]], we have a lot of ways to win. You might think "What if those cards are in the graveyard?", well, lucky for us the EWitness combo ends with 2 free EWitness triggers. Meaning, we more or less always have access to these cards, barring [[Dauthi Voidwalker]] or similar effects that might disrupt this. (Anecdotal evidence from me, but this has not been an issue for me yet.)
I want to emphasize though, that even if it wasn't available, RazaHulk has so much versatility that you typically have enough resources to get the win. The primer details various winning lines much more thoroughly.
To sum it up, instead of getting infinite tokens through the very bulky SquirrelCraft combo, we can now do so with a single synergistic piece that also happens to boost our synergy with 2 other cards (Culling Ritual and Plunge into Darkness) to add a high level of lethality to our win. By layering this combo with our [[Protean Hulk]] lines, we end up with a very resilient and versatile win condition.
More fun things
[[Necromancy]] and [[Wake The Dead]] offer us instant speed reanimation, with Razaketh or even Protean Hulk directly, we can shoot for a win overtop of someone else. This is cooler because we don't need [[Crop Rotation]] and [[Emergence Zone]] bogging us down.
Razaketh is cool because with extra resources we can tutor for protection, stax removal, and even our own stax control before or during our wins. I've included [[Elvish Spirit Guide]] as a way to protect ourselves with the Veils more easily. It's pretty fun pulling off a Mindslicer trigger before you win.
Running Razaketh and Protean Hulk together is worth it because it opens up a large amount of winning lines through as many circumstances as possible. Skilled pilots will be able to squeeze out wins in all sorts of boardstates.
Closing Notes
I think the new tech with Saw In Half is pretty strong and creature based combos are pretty hard to disrupt at times. Leading the combo with removal, protection, or sometimes even stax can be very effective in securing wins.
I'm not saying this is a meta warper or anything, and it might not be the best Golgari commander, but I think Meren's relevance does increase with these new cards; still fringe, but I think you'll have more fun and better results running this list than before. I certainly have.
I think the merit in this list relies on its unique stax-midrange play patterns in tandem with strong combo lines to generate wins. Let me know how you feel about it! I'll try to keep on top of discussion in the comments :)

I had my eye on the Chanel 22 for a while and thought it might make a good carryall for casual workdays, errands, etc., but I hesitated to pull the trigger because the combination of the shiny leather, larger size, and huge Chanel logo on the front felt a bit too conspicuous for my particular work environment. Then I saw pics of the So Black colorway (black leather with black hardware) uploaded to sellers’ albums for God Factory and 187. I loved the fact that the black hardware really toned down the branding to the point that only those who know of the C22 bag would recognize it as Chanel. Most normal people will only recognize it as a trash bag (like, for instance, my husband 🫠). Anyway, this black on black color combo was exactly what I was waiting for. I decided to inquire with my go-to seller Reykay about the God Factory version, since I’ve generally been pleased with the GF items I’ve ordered in the past and I didn’t feel like waiting eons for 187. I’m happy to report that this bag turned out to be everything that I hoped it would be!

QUALITY - 9.5
Overall, this bag is very high quality. The leather is soft and flexible, the stitching is neat and even, the hardware is sturdy with no signs of chipping, and the bag is well constructed. I deducted 0.5 because the bag is a bit more lightweight than I expected, the interior lining fabric is a lint magnet, and the detachable pouch doesn’t have as many luxe finishes as the rest of the bag. Now, with that being said, I think the very small things that make this bag feel *slightly* less luxurious than I was expecting are also present in the auth version. Also, while the bag being lightweight was initially surprising to me, I’m ultimately thankful for it because I can stuff the bag to the brim without it getting super heavy.

ACCURACY (compared to auth) - 9.7/10
Measurements/Sizing: This is the RegulaMedium size 22 bag. The official measurements on the Chanel website are 15.2” (height) x 16.4” (width) x 3.1” (depth). The measurements listed on the resale sites that I linked above are all over the place. I think this is because there are two ways to measure this bag: (1) laid flat (which I believe is the method used by Chanel because it results in the largest measurements); and (2) standing upright (which I believe is the method used by some of the resale sites, resulting in slightly smaller measurements because the base and sides aren’t included in the height and width). I was able to measure this bag both ways, and my measurements were consistent the measurements on the Chanel website when laid flat, and were similar to the resale sites when measuring the bag standing upright. My conclusion is that the measurements for this bag are accurate.
Details: Exterior and interior hardware colors are accurate. Number of diamonds in each direction is accurate (3 full diamonds vertically, 4 full diamonds horizontally, 3 full diamonds across the base). Alignment of diamonds/stitching is accurate on the sides and base. Quilted fabric interior is accurate. The only minuscule inaccuracies that I can see are: (1) the placement of the CHANEL lettering on the front is a fraction of a centimeter higher than auth (-0.1), but this is only noticeable upon closely scrutinizing the auth and rep side-by-side and I don’t think this would be calloutable in the wild; (2) the font on the round medallion charm is a hair thickechunkier than auth, but it’s barely, if at all, noticeable (-0.1); and (3) the corners of the inner leather logo patch are slightly more rounded on auth (but I’m not deducting any points for this because it’s on the inside of the bag and barely noticeable to begin with).
Leather: The leather is smooth, soft, and has a nice slouch. It also has a nice sheen, although it might be slightly less shiny than auth. It’s hard to tell for sure because the photos on the various resale sites linked above all show varying degrees of shininess. I also think the lighting that the bag is photographed in plays a part. I took photos in several different lighting scenarios, and the bag definitely appears less shiny and more washed out in bright midday light. That said, because this is generally regarded as a shiny bag, I will deduct -0.1 because one or two coats of leather honey are needed to achieve the level of shine depicted on the Chanel website.
SATISFACTION - 10/10
I’m delighted with this bag. Not only is it comfortable to carry, it’s also surprisingly practical (which is not an adjective I generally use to describe Chanel bags). The size makes it suitable for work — it fits a bit more than an LV speedy 30 plus the rectangular shape allows for a small laptop or ipad. I also love how incognito the black on black colorway is. I don’t always feel comfortable wearing my Chanel reps because they’re so unapologetically CHANEL (especially with the recent price increase putting Chanel bags into the eyebrow raising $7-$10k range). The so black C 22 is ideal if you want Chanel vibes without an attention-grabbing logo. I also love the bag’s relaxed, slouchy vibe, which makes it extremely easy to style (I sometimes find Chanel bags to be too dressy or prim for certain casual looks).

R1: Tennessee. Knoxville, the third largest city of Tennessee, is easy to find on the map. Oak Ridge is not far away. Therefore, the area where you had to look for our location wasn't very large. When you turned around you could see a secondary highway sign for the TN-170. 11 perfect scores. :-)
R2: Illinois. The sign to the "Riverfront Park" suggested that we were close to a river. The "Marina" tells us that the river is large enough for boats. Therefore it was a good idea to look near the larger rivers for our location. 7 perfect scores. :-)
R3: South Carolina. US 321 runs through the entire state from north to south. Scanning along US 321 for the state highways should have helped to find the location. 12 perfect scores. :-)
R4: Nebraska. No numbering system in this state. I don't know if there are any other clues to narrow down the area. Some players found NE-41. The general direction of NE-41 is east to west with long straight east/west sections. Our location was in a long curve. Furthermore there was a railroad close to our location. There are not many sections along NE-41 with a railroad next to it. 2 perfect scores. :-)
R5: Idaho. Most of Idaho's major cities are located in the Snake River Plain. Therefore, it was a good idea to look for the highway in the mountainous, sparsely populated areas. Many players found ID-57 in northern Idaho. However, you had to zoom very far into the map to see the POI for the "Falls Inn" while scanning along the highway for our location. 4 perfect scores. :-)

‘Clickbaity’ title, apologies!
But I wanted to get this opinion out there, which I believe is just as valid as the ones defending this song. If you want to get angry at my view, you’re also free to do so, of course.
I profoundly despise this entry. Don’t get me wrong, I like the song, it’s a competent ‘ballady’ pop song, easy on the ear, which we all know Sweden does so well. A solid representation of Sweden’s strength in this genre, at the European scope. But as an Eurovision entry, I see so many things wrong with it.
I don’t want to get into the fact that it is a repeating competitor. Morally, one could argue it’s playing dirty, going for the fan-factor, radio-factor, etc., but since we’ve seen many instances of this, it’s an argument that people will simply discredit. Even though, morally, it could very much be questioned. Not doing it here, however.
Right, so; ‘Tattoo’ is a safe entry that for some reason gathered a lot of backing. By giving her an(other) Eurovision win, the competition would be set back 10 years. The moment ‘Euphoria’ won, Europe’s attitude towards music changed. And massively, at that. We went modern and significantly dropped our historic roots. The EDM scene properly exploded in Northern Europe, we bettered our ability to control music digitally. Honestly? A revolutionary win that positively evolved Europe’s music scene. Very much deserved and well appreciated.
Ten years later, we go back to it again. With a less impactful music too! What did all these years mean?
We’re at a point in time where I feel embracing the history, the tradition, the culture that a continent such as Europe has would be beautiful. Combining the newly acquired dominance of modern sounds and incorporating the elements that define (if not the!) one of the most diverse continents in this world.
Can you imagine the possibilities?
Learning a new aspect about every country year in and year out, with the modern interpretation we’re capable of doing now! The reason why the festival came to be, to showcase our identity, but this time, we can not only do it in Europe - we can use the concepts we learned and showcase it to the world. They’ll feel familiarity and be able to enjoy our sounds now more naturally.
But no.
Here we are. Voting for a song that could come from any place in the world. A pop song without any particularity tying it to Europe. How is this all Eurovision is nowadays?
This is getting too long and I won’t really prepare a TLDR, as I wouldn’t even know how to summarise this - so I should think about wrapping this up.
Essentially, it’s a song that makes me sad for Europe, more than anything. Again, people can identify with it and there’s that, that’s what Europe has become - so it’d still be representative. Maybe that’s all it means and I’m diving too deeply into this. It’s just a song after all and we’re all dying in the end.
But it’s the message that passes, you know? That a soulless (not literally, she seems to pour a lot of her soul into it, but you get it lol) pop song is the play. With certain nations trying to erase others’ culture, throughout the world - not only the one your head thought of - this could be an opportunity to keep them alive, in yet another front.
Celebrating them. There is no other moment to do so in Europe. We can and will keep on listening to our favourite pop songs all year round. But the possibilities of what we could be doing in Eurovision make me so hopeful.

I just opened up 50 ultimate packs to get material for spec training. Guess how many diamonds I got - 0. I didn't get a single diamond from 50 ultimate packs. Did pack rates drop and I am unaware of this?

A long time ago me and my friend came up with some ideas for stands but we only went into detail with two of them. Both are unnamed since we suck at naming things.

1: The first one is a non-humanoid stand that takes the shape of several floating disks. It's only ability is to change the density of living things they latch onto. They can increase and decrease the density of what they are attached to by set amounts based on how many are attached. However, they are not exactly difficult to remove.

2: The second one has no set form, since it's ability changes it based on who is looking at it. It can take the form of a fear the person looking at it has and only the person scared of its form can see that version of it. It can effect several people and it's physical power changes based on what it looks like.

It has an evolved form where not only does it have the strength of what it is, but it also becomes stronger in general based on how scared each person who is looking at it is. So if one guy isn't that scared but someone else is terrified it becomes stronger against both of them.
These were made years ago and I might have gotten some details wrong, but I wanted to share this with others and see their opinions on them.

What's Occurring: One of buzziest forms of AI, generative AI, has the ability to produce digital images, conversational text, code and summaries of lengthy documents from a simple prompt. While it's still in its early days of development, it has big implications for jobs that include writing, coding and marketing products.
AI advances in marketing: In 2022, software development platform GitHub debuted GitHub Copilot, a tool that uses OpenAI models to write code based on a prompt. According to GitHub, Copilot is able to suggest methods, unit tests, boilerplate code and complex algorithms.
Some authors are using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT to co-write and illustrate books to sell on Amazon, and one legislator used it to help draft a law aimed at regulating AI. This isn't limited to startups, companies such as Microsoft and Google are integrating generative AI tools so office workers can do tasks like write emails or create presentations faster within their apps.
Jonathan Nelson, senior digital marketing manager of growth for the American Marketing Association, said marketers are experimenting with ChatGPT to write articles, including optimizing them for search engines, though they're not yet publishing those items.
"You have AI write a 1,000-word article, and then go through and edit it to make it sound human again," he said. "It's a framework for articles."
Jeff MacDonald, social strategy director at ad agency Mekanism, said he uses generative AI to brainstorm images for illustrators and designers. He also uses it to scrape TikTok comments and analyze reactions, ideas, and similarities and differences between brands.

How jobs could evolve: Generative AI tools have the ability to help people become more productive, especially with content creation. That could mean using AI for a first draft and social media posts to solve simple problems or provide summaries of complex topics.
Though much is still experimental, marketers have a sense that they'll soon work with AI if they aren't already, even if it's just to help determine the success of a campaign. But it will be important for the industry to keep human creativity front and center.
Human involvement will most likely always be required in some ways, otherwise everything will repeat itself, and nothing will stand out.

Following up on a project I did at the 8-game mark this season, I wanted to see how playoff chances looked at the 60-game mark. Specifically, I looked at each team's xGF thru 60 games this season to see:
- Where will their xGF most likely land at the end of the season? - How often has that "end-season xGF" resulted in making the playoffs?
 

Methodology

• I used Evolving-Hockey's adjusted xGF% data for the past 15 seasons.
• For shortened seasons (2013, 2019, 2020), I found the closest equivalent of 60gp.
• In the tables below, I included the playoff chances (as of 3/21) from Hockeyviz, The Athletic, & Moneypuck

 

(I am not saying that my method is best, better, or correct. Simply sharing it as a project and a test to see how it performs.)
