Hello AskDocs, I'm having some foot troubles.

Male, 27yo, 243lb/115kg, 6'1/184cm.
For some background, I regularly do kendo, a martial art where you are barefoot on a wooden floor, and work part time as a server and as a teacher. So my feet take a beating.
This callus (the main circle part of it) developed on my left foot a while back, and I didn't think much of it until about last Tuesday, when I showed up to kendo practice and took about 3 steps before there was this sudden stabbing pain, like I stepped on a nail, on the ball of my foot, closer to the toes. I stopped right there and tried to look for a splinter, but found nothing. Went home.
For the next couple days the pain was there any time I walked barefoot, but it appeared to have moved backward, toward the center of my sole. By Saturday the pain had gone away, but now there was this additional white line that seemed to come out of the callus (I call it the "tail"). I thought oh weird but at least it stopped hurting.
Monday afternoon the pain is back focusedvery specifically on the tip of the tail, and now it's more apparent and uncomfortable. I now notice it with my shoes on and I've needed to adjust my gait to mitigate the pain.
It's now Tuesday night and spent all day at a walk-in clinic, and the NP suspected the callus was growing around a nerve and pinching it (could be a misquote, this is not my area of expertise.) Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this? I'd like to avoid a pricey podiatrist appointment if I can, but I can't afford to take much (if any) more time off work.

Friend of mine went nuts..12 grams dried. Tore up his room and broke his bed. A summary of the patent deal agreed to with KPI and why this is epic fail by JC.
1). This deal is 170M upfront with another 30M by 2026 for a total guaranteed of 200M. This is compared to 450M upfront and promissory note of 150M or 600M. JC accepted a deal that has 67% less in guaranteed payments. No wonder JC accepted the offer with KPI only after Catapult was terminated. It is like you selling a house for 600K, that buyer cannot get funding and you accepted a 200K offer instead.
2). Where JC tries to savage this is royalty upside and the headnote up to 900M. Except the royalty is back end loaded (stretch goals) with a profit level indicator, not revenue.
As an example, say profit is 75%, KPI achieves $1B in licensing revenue over say 5 years to earn 750M in profit. The royalty is 40M for the first 500M in profit and then 37.5M for the next 250M. The Total royalty is 77.5M putting the total value of the deal at 277.5M.
Good luck to KPI earning 1B in licensing to achieve 750M in profit. (It is possible the first 200M is not profit for KPI (return of capital) and that 750M in profit is just a mere 550M in royalty base or a royalty of 42M from 750M in profits).
The Royalty % is upside down for BB shareholders and makes no sense. To earn the royalty, the patents have to hit a home run. To earn 900M, that KPI entity have to earn a 2.2B in profit, LMFAO. Might as well call it a 10B patent sales if KPI makes 30B from patents. This is basically a 200-280M sale.
3). Timing and execution failure. JC reported patents were up for sale back in December 2020 and identified Catapult as the exclusive buyer back in March 2021. In January 2022, they agreed to the 450M + 150M. 2020-2021 is characterized as the cheapest access to capital and they missed that window. Just like stocks, intangibles go down and patent value tanked while JC was waddling in 2021.
4) Failure to monetize? Why on this green earth did JC stop their licensing business back in March 2021 and missed 24 months+ of licensing revenue, in which they could have made 500M anyway? JC himself said 6-9 months and ended up 24+ months.
5) Failure to drum up interest. This deal was so called closed to non-Canadian companies so it is pigeoned holed to Catapult. Then KPI comes along and it is nothing Canadian. So which is it? How do you sell a house and only find 2 prospects globally in 2 years. Does JC even know what he is doing? If all you are looking to sell to patent trolls, of course it is all about ROI and risk for them and the offer will suk. Can't they find a strategic buyer that needs the patents like Nokia, Motorola did?

6) Failure in transparency: Let's be real here. JC have been unforthcoming and not trustworthy.

If im being honest here im genuinely confused. Today me and my girlfriend had gotten into a repetitive argument once again, listen I love this girl with everything in me and would do absolutely anything and everything to be her man. Yet this is where im confused, today we were eating dinner, mind you she is sick with a cold, so she asks me to take her home because she doesnt feel good. Then she starts tearing up and I ask her “ are you okay honey?” She goes “yes im just sick” and she has repeatedly told me to take things with their face value because i tend to be a nudge when shes upset. So i drive her home and while we’re driving i ask her “ are you sure you’re okay love, this seems a little worse than a cold “ and she responds “ what I cant just have a night without you? I dont feel good I want to go home” Which really threw me off because i feel as if that question wasnt as jarring as it came off. So then i drop her off, i tell her I love her and to call or text if she needs me, she proceeds to apologize for ruining dinner and i told her it was perfectly okay , no worries at all. Then two hours go by, after she implied that I should leave her alone and not push, she texts me “ goodnight. “ which is not a normal tendency for her, so I politely responded “ hey im sorry love, im probably just over thinking, but whats up with the goodnight” she says “ no text checking in on me at all, instead of me crying all night im just going to bed” then a relatively long conversation ensued, and I was genuinely confused as to what was going on because time after time before shed tell me i ask to much and that i push too hard, but this time i did what she tells me to do which is “ not speak to her unless she speaks to me when shes upset” and to “ not ask if shes okay more than once” and now she tells me that I dont care about her when in reality shes all I care about. So i guess what im trying to say is, how do I avoid finding myself in a situation like this again?

Let me explain, out of all the characters in the game, I always felt like the BL cast fit better with Edelgard than with Dimitri. Simply changing their homes to being within the Empire would improve Edelgard's support. (- Dedue, because Dimitri does need a calm 2nd hand)
Sylvain relates to Edelgard in the sense that he despises the crest system. For CF, it's easy to see how he would jump to her side, and his flirting can be used to balance out Hubert. His backstory only fuels a connection to her. He would be better than Ferdinand in the sense that he would be more satisfied to have his father stripped of his title. Or feel it was more justified. (At least I assume)
Mercedes is from the empire I believe, and she seems happy to join up with her brother again. She believes in the church, though her devotion to her classroom (BE in this case) she wouldn't want to fight for the kingdom. Linhardt isn't interested in the war (he hates blood) making me think he'd rather not start a war. He'd be more likely to try and fight the war than help start it.
Ashe. If his father had been part of the empire, he would be on Edelgard's side and his adopted brother's execution will turn him against the church. He would side with both his ruler and defeat who he believes is the reason Lonato is dead. He'd replace Caspar, who also doesn't want to start a war.
Bernadetta is sweet, but she doesn't quite fit the fierce Edelgard. You could say that's the point, but in CF the cast I feel needs to be more serious and cutthroat. Ingrid would be better here, her down to earth personality could actually work with Hubert's, for the two could work together on war efforts. She'd be a more reliable military leader than Bernadetta, and in the War at Gronder I feel she would be willing to die for her cause.
Okay. Next we have Dorothea. If the opera company had been in the Kingdom, I don't see any reason that Dorothea would really join Edelgard. She has supports with her, so it seems her emotional connection to everyone leads her to fight at all. I don't think Annette has any reason to be with the kingdom other than her dad. . .though she could feel spite towards the kingdom or church for her father leaving her. I know it doesn't go in well, but Annette's intellect could improve the hunt and help locate TWSITD.
Petra and Felix I feel can't be switched. Felix's backstory is too intertwined with Dimitri's for either to be complete. Brigid is too far from the Kingdom to be properly connected as well. Petra would feel off with the BL cast I'll admit. Her and Ashe already share similarities however, along with Ingrid's dedication to her homeland, Annette's urge to learn, Sylvain's need to improve international relations, and maybe Mercedes's kindness could all mold to adapt to her.
Anyway I was having a conversation with a friend and I wanted to share my opinion on why the CF cast should be more serious with how they're facing the war. Overall just most of the BEs don't feel like they'd want a war to start a war at all. I may be wrong though.

Hello, so recently i applied to a DevOps engineer position as a joke with friends. I actually have a decent background on both for someone who hasn't been highered yet. I got this test, where i have to make an automated currency converter that uses an intermediary currency, so if the user selects USD to EUR, i have to do something like this USD -> MXN -> EUR. Every decimal point after the second decimal point is "mine" to keep. But i also have to find which intermediary is the best for the customer and which is the best for me.
I finished the projects in around 3 hours, with bug fixing taking about 45minutes and searching for a good API took about 30minutes. So in total i spent time codin was around 1.75h? It's around 60 lines. A friend said he wouldn't use any imports except the requests import, to show skill. Currently I'm importing math (only for trunc() function) and pandas and IPython.display to create the table and display it in the console, since for somereason pandas style function didn't work.
Is it better for me to not use imports to do it, or is it better?

I’ve been trying to study my German for my B1 certification, but I’ve been bogged buy a slew of family issues back in the states.
In addition, although I’ve been saving up money to prepare to pay rent for a few months, after traveling to Germany this July for two productions with a young artist group, I can’t seem to get straight the order of things I need to do. Do I need to find a place to stay and then apply for permits and then apply for work? Do I find a place and then apply for jobs and then apply for permits? I asked some of my colleagues living in Weimar and Frankfurt about the process, but nobody’s talking. And just a few minutes ago I just read another post on the sub Reddit about how the OP’ Ausländerbehörde essentially jerked them around to the point where they were dirt broke in terms of getting permits to work and live in Germany…

I hate it when my brother Charlie has to go away. My parents constantly try to explain to me how sick he is. That I am lucky for having a brain where all the chemicals flow properly to their destinations like undammed rivers. When I complain about how bored I am without a little brother to play with, they try to make me feel bad by pointing out that his boredom likely far surpasses mine, considering his confine to a dark room in an institution. I always beg for them to give him one last chance. Of course, they did at first. Charlie has been back home several times, each shorter in duration than the last. Every time without fail, it all starts again. The neighbourhood cats with gouged out eyes showing up in his toy chest, my dad’s razors found dropped on the baby slide in the park across the street, mom’s vitamins replaced by bits of dishwasher tablets. My parents are hesitant now, using “last chances” sparingly. They say his disorder makes him charming, makes it easy for him to fake normalcy, and to trick the doctors who care for him into thinking he is ready for rehabilitation. Me M(21), Gf F(21) , 8 months -communication skills
If im being honest here im genuinely confused. Today me and my girlfriend had gotten into a repetitive argument once again, listen I love this girl with everything in me and would do absolutely anything and everything to be her man. Yet this is where im confused, today we were eating dinner, mind you she is sick with a cold, so she asks me to take her home because she doesnt feel good. Then she starts tearing up and I ask her “ are you okay honey?” She goes “yes im just sick” and she has repeatedly told me to take things with their face value because i tend to be a nudge when shes upset. So i drive her home and while we’re driving i ask her “ are you sure you’re okay love, this seems a little worse than a cold “ and she responds “ what I cant just have a night without you? I dont feel good I want to go home” Which really threw me off because i feel as if that question wasnt as jarring as it came off. So then i drop her off, i tell her I love her and to call or text if she needs me, she proceeds to apologize for ruining dinner and i told her it was perfectly okay , no worries at all. Then two hours go by, after she implied that I should leave her alone and not push, she texts me “ goodnight. “ which is not a normal tendency for her, so I politely responded “ hey im sorry love, im probably just over thinking, but whats up with the goodnight” she says “ no text checking in on me at all, instead of me crying all night im just going to bed” then a relatively long conversation ensued, and I was genuinely confused as to what was going on because time after time before shed tell me i ask to much and that i push too hard, but this time i did what she tells me to do which is “ not speak to her unless she speaks to me when shes upset” and to “ not ask if shes okay more than once” and now she tells me that I dont care about her when in reality shes all I care about. So i guess what im trying to say is, how do I avoid finding myself in a situation like this again?
