2023.03.30 19:44 JunkFood32 Passed Project+! PK0-005

Let me just start by saying- this is the least enjoyable thing I've ever studied for. So glad to have it behind me.
Now for my advice. If you're studying for PK0-004, stop and switch to PK0-005. The newer exam is absolutely a better experience. It still has some obtuse questions, but it's not nearly as bad. I'd suggest starting with CBT Nuggets video series. It's 11hrs, you can watch it on 1.5/2x speed, and finish it within the free trial period. After that I'd pick up the Sybex books (I got mine through my university, WGU, library.) There are two books, the study guide and practice tests. The study guide is a good reference tool, while the online question bank from the practice test book is good for practice questions.
I'd also recommend making flash cards for all of the acronyms on the exam objectives and know what they MEAN, not just what they stand for.
Hopefully this helps someone else get through this slog of a certifications!

2023.03.30 19:42 PG-DaMan Best Practices for Study while in University

To Study for university courses can be an overwhelming experience, especially for new students who are transitioning from high school or community college. University is a whole new level of independence. That means that you need to change the way you have been doing things so that you can grow and make the best of the time you have and to get the best grades possible.

With the right strategies and best practices, you can make the most of your time and maximize your learning potential. Below are some of the best practices for studying at the university level. They may not all work for you as I have outlined them. Or they may not take things quite far enough. So feel free to amend this and add your own ideas to this to help others.

  1. Start early and plan ahead
One of the most important best practices for studying at the university level is to start early and plan ahead. I don't mean getting up early in the morning. I mean that the minute an assignment is given in class its time to add it to your study schedule and get to it as soon as you can. This also means that you should begin preparing for exams as soon as possible, rather than waiting until the last minute. Create a study schedule and stick to it, making sure to set aside time for both studying and relaxation.

  1. Stay organized
Staying organized is crucial when it comes to studying for university courses. Make sure to keep track of all your assignments, readings, and deadlines, using a planner, calendar, or other organizational tools. Use different colors or symbols to differentiate between different types of tasks and prioritize your most important assignments. Now days with a laptop or tablet this is a lot easier. However some find that having a white board that they can look at helps as well.

  1. Take notes and review regularly
Another important best practice is to take thorough notes during lectures and review them regularly. This will help you retain information and reinforce important concepts. Make sure to use effective note-taking strategies, such as writing summaries, creating diagrams, and highlighting key points. Again using colors when doing this can make your mind more easily recall things that you have been studying.

  1. Use active learning techniques
Passive learning, such as simply reading or listening to lectures, is not as effective as active learning. Use active learning techniques such as practice questions, group discussions, and problem-solving activities to engage with the material and deepen your understanding. Believe it or not there are other things you can do for active learning. Read it. Read it out loud, Write it. And if discuss it with several different people.

  1. Seek help when needed
Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Many universities offer academic support services such as tutoring, study groups, and writing centers. Seek help early if you are struggling with a course or assignment, rather than waiting until it is too late. You might also have friends from home that you can reach out to for help. Do not let them do the work for you but do allow them to help guide you.

  1. Avoid cramming
Cramming is not an effective way to study and can actually harm your performance. Normally Cramming is when you go over everything in the last hours before the deadline of the test or course. Trying to remember as much as you can in the last minutes. Instead, use a spaced repetition approach, where you review the material regularly over a longer period of time. This will help you retain the information better and reduce stress.

  1. Stay focused and eliminate distractions
Studying for university courses requires focus and concentration. Eliminate distractions such as social media, phones, and television, and find a quiet study environment where you can focus. Use tools such as noise-canceling headphones or background music to help you concentrate. The best sort of music would actually be Classical String orchestra or similar. This has a more calming effect than hip hop, or rock other what ever other music you normally listen to.

  1. Practice self-care
Studying for university courses can be stressful, but it's important to take care of yourself both physically and mentally. Get enough sleep, eat nutritious food, exercise regularly, and take breaks when needed. Taking care of your physical and mental health will help you perform better academically. If you get stuck on something and can not get passed it, that is the perfect time to take a walk or do some sort of exercise. This could prompt your brain for the answer you did not know that you already had.

  1. Use technology to your advantage
There are many technological tools available that can help you study more effectively. For example, you can use online flashcards or quiz apps to review material, or use productivity apps to manage your time and tasks. There are even games that can be created out of your information that will prompt you to remember things more easily.

  1. Stay motivated and focused on your goals
It's important to stay motivated and focused on your goals. Remind yourself why you are studying and what you hope to achieve. Remind yourself what the future holds for you when you finish this brief period of your life. Stay positive and resilient even when faced with challenges. Celebrate your successes and learn from your mistakes, and stay committed to your academic goals.

Studying for university courses requires discipline, organization, and focus. By following these best practices, you can make the most of your time and maximize your learning potential. Remember to start early, stay organized, use active learning techniques, seek help when needed, avoid cramming, stay focused and eliminate distractions, practice self-care, use technology to your advantage, and stay motivated and focused on your goals.

2023.03.30 18:55 FailUnique5769 Lots of insecurities, but passed with 3 ATs 🦋💙

Lots of insecurities, but passed with 3 ATs 🦋💙
Dear pmp community,
Finally my moment has arrived: PASSED with AT/AT/AT. Sharing briefly my tips: 1. Start studying AGILE first and once you make sure you have assimilated the agile related knowledge, you can move on to PMBOK. Reason for that: most of the test is hybrid/agile. Sources I used for Agile: Agile Practice Guide and David YouTube video. I did only half of the questions from David Video, but learnt through my own detailed notes everything in the scrum guide and agile practice guide. 2. Read the PMBOK knowledge areas and highlight key points. I did not take notes or made summaries for these ones, but I printed out Andrew's resources and added notes to his slides when necessary. I learnt very well scope, cost and schedule, resources and I just read the other processes since I didn't have enough time to study them carefully. I also bought thirdrock notes, but did not use them much, since I did not have time. *MINDSET is absolutely key, but everybody knows by now. 3. Practice, practice, practice. I bought just SH essential, I did just 4 mini tests and I found them relatively hard. Questions were longer than in the real exam and often very unclear. The questions in the 2 full exams were more similar to the test experience than those in the mini tests. However it doesn't hurt to practice through the mini tests as well. My study hall score were 63% and 68%, but over 80% without expert questions. 4. This community is GOLD. I've regained trust in humanity.
Finally some tips for the exam:. 1. Use the flagging option, but *PROTIP: to avoid re reading all the options at the end and waste time, choose the option that you think is more probable to be the correct answer and HIGHLIGHT the other candidate option. This will save you lots of time and worst case scenario, if you don't have time to review you have already chosen your top option. Don't leave the question unanswered. Flagging helped a lot since I changed some questions at the end after re reading with a clearer mind. 2. Be aware of time. I cannot stress this enough. Calculate well the time and questions left. (I continuously divided time left on each section by no of questions to understand time available/question. This helped me to keep track, but I am good at math. Don't lose time doing this, if you are not) It took me a lot of stress during the first part to adjust and manage time well in the last parts. I finished 5 mins earlier after reviewing 8 questions in last section. Don't spend to much time when you are not sure, choose one, highlight the second option, flag the question and move on. 3. Take the breaks. Super necessary to refresh. I used the breaks to drink water, go to toilet, eat some dried fruit and do breathing exercises to relax. 4. Wear blue💙 (wore blue underwear as well :P). This is reassuring as you feel part of the community and adds some extra comfort.
It has been a difficult journey for me, since I have been in the midst of chaos for the past few months (super toxic work environment, a distant relationship, applying to fellowship opportunities abroad and thinking of a career pivot), but it all paid off today. My study has not been very consistent, but I am happy I did not give up. I am finally relieved and will party 🥳 during the weekend since I still have to finish an application tomorrow.
P.s: I am currently looking for a remote PM job. Please advise if you have any leads.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! YOU CAN MAKE IT, BE CONFIDENT!

2023.03.30 18:40 Gladiator_Batman Welcome to the Analog Study Group !

Hi all! Delighted to see so many people interested in Analog IC Design. So the rough plan I have for the study group is as follows (Feel free to suggest changes):
  1. I will be releasing a schedule soon detailing the time frame that we could follow for each chapter. The schedule will also specify the problems that we will have to complete every week or every 10 days. Now, this schedule is not set in stone and can be changed based on your opinions and preferences.
  2. The goal is to have at least one meeting weekly. In the weekly meeting, we will discuss doubts and any insights we have about the material. Since we have more than 40 plus people in order to have concrete discussions I came up with the following idea: Throughout the week we enter our doubts regarding problems/concepts into an excel sheet. In case anyone in the group has already solved the problem or knows the answer to the doubt they can volunteer to answer by writing their name next to the doubt in the Excel sheet. In the meeting, we will take up each doubt and the person who has volunteered will answer it. This I feel will enable all of us to make rapid progress and not get stuck anywhere.
  3. I have also created a google classroom and a discord server for the group. We can have the meetings via google meet.
  4. Link to Google Classroom: https://classroom.google.com/c/NjAxMjY0MTM3OTU5?cjc=rdtwqig
  5. Link to Discord Server: https://discord.gg/ygtRE7nz
  6. One of the biggest problems that a lot of us face is that we study the material in the book but don't practice many problems. So I feel that it would be really great if all of us submit the solutions to the weekly problems on Google classroom. This way we would get to see different approaches used by different people. This would also act as a mechanism that ensures that we do the problems.
  7. Depending on how well things go I'm also planning on organising a few talks with people currently working in the IC Design industry. Also in case any of you know anyone in the industry who would be willing to give a talk feel free to reach out to me.
  8. In case any of you have significant work experience in this field or have completed your master's please feel free to guide the rest of us
  9. Finally for any study group to be successful it has to be active. So feel free to post your questions, and doubts either here on Reddit, or on Discord or on Google classroom. Remember no question or doubt is silly so don't hesitate to ask whatever doubts you have.

2023.03.30 17:25 gavrynwickert Some things that might help you learn Tagalog

I'm leaving Reddit for a while to focus on my studies, so I thought I'd leave this here in case any Tagalog learners stumble across my profile from any of the many places I have shared tips and resources across Reddit.
Sometimes when you're new to learning a language, you just want a step-by-step instructional guide. Here's this: Day-One Beginner's Guide to Learning Tagalog
Tagalog Resources (for study and immersion, updated regularly)
There are lots of fantastic and knowledgeable Filipinos teaching Tagalog on YouTube, but sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start with all the videos available. I made this to help you out: Guide to Tagalog Resources on YouTube.
In February, I watched a Filipino movie every day, for the whole month! From those 28 movies, I came away with 10 standouts. Here's my list: Filipino Film Collection.
Most of the above docs have links to a Google Form where you can send feedback or share your own advice and resources you've come across. Please utilize this!
Thank you for reading, and happy learning.

2023.03.30 17:01 Monthemod MUST READ: HOW TO HIRE A WRITER AND AVOID GETTING SCAMMED!

READ BELOW TO AVOID GETTING SCAMMED AND FINDING QUALITY FREELANCERS!
1.Use PayPal and select “Goods and Services” to send payments
Use PayPal to pay your freelancer, and select the payment to be for “Goods and services” when sending. Sending it as a Good/Service guarantees a refund incase you get scammed! Sending it as a “Friends/family/gift” offers ZERO protection!
  1. Pay in milestones
If you need a 4 page research project done for $60. Instead of paying the $60 upfront, ask your writer if you can pay $20 for the first 33% of the project. Once they send you the first 33%, deposit them another $20 for part 2. Repeat until you get to the last stage! This method benefits both freelancers and clients.
  1. Never reveal ANY personal information
Never reveal your name, birthday, social security, home address, phone number, school or any piece of info that can leave you vulnerable.
  1. Interview and ask writers questions and request samples before hiring
Ask your writer questions about their knowledge, expertise in your project, experience. Request previous samples of their work and be as thorough when making your selection. As the client, you have the right to due diligence.
  1. Make sure the model projects you pay for are NOT plagiarized
Copy parts of your project and paste it into google to see if any matching text pops up on any websites. This is one way of checking your project has been originally written. Make sure citations are properly added.
  1. Use the projects you receive as research guides/models, instead of turning it in as your own work
By purchasing projects and utilizing them as research guides for your own assignments, you benefit in a myriad of ways. Such as having the information/subject manner organized for you to study. As well as having a rough idea on how to start your own project and formatting/building off of the content that's already presented.
It's up to you at the end of the day how you use your purchased projects. But utilizing them in this way is 100% more likely to improve your understanding of the discussion point!
RED FLAGS TO WATCH OUT FOR
- Writers messaging you with broken English, bad punctuation, typo’s, etc.
- Writers asking you to send payments as “Gifts” instead of services.
- Writers asking for more funds without providing the completed work. Or changing the price mid-way (except if you’ve asked for additional writing).
- Writers requesting payments through Western Union or Cryptocurrency. As these forms of payments are irreversible/virtually untraceable.
- Writers copy and pasting/plagiarizing work
