2023.03.25 01:52 JoffreySkywalker The Virtue of Avarice: A rebuttal to stand against a compilation of rage levied at Hasan. "I just think it's funny that Hasan....", "I think it's hilarious that Hasan....", "I mean it's kind of funny Hasan...."
TLDR: Is it "funny" to buy a big house while being a socialist or bad? I don't think it's really either. Hasan may have bad beliefs, but he's been the subject of some misplaced criticism. Socialism is a broad set of government economic policies. I'm not sure why you should be able to tell the difference between a capitalist and a socialist.
Hasan's sordid history from a simple DGGR trying to make his way in the universe to the socialist IKON and AOC Stan making it big on his own is a long road paved with debates, debacles, re-streamed reality TV shows, and a never dwindling clamor of "living your values discourse." He is featured in several noted DGG debates/discussions such as this one featuring my favorite orbiter Exskillsme and noted Poppy farmer Vowsh,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjszEJBKWRs&list=PL4uIWBpZZ6zci9mM3Gh18NJRXTDx9MGVi&index=6 and this gem referencing the infamous racial slur debate and a variety of complaints about this very subreddit
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctAsIoNJmlw.
But this is not a recap of the deeds great and small of Hasan, Titan of Twitch. This is specifically in regards to the classic "live your values debate," the most infamous of which features Vaush and Destiny battling it out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gteClaD9GKc In regards to Hasan, the live your values discourse hit its apex when he purchased an expensive house. Destiny's general perspective on the matter is summarized here,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYYE76D7B0U with the most critical general perspective at
https://youtu.be/tYYE76D7B0U?t=196 wherein he explains what he considers to be an important spectrum between a slave and a sellout un der a capitalist system. A brief recap is as follows. Destiny states that there is a spectrum between the bottom tier of society barely making it by, someone doing pretty aright but not great, and the top of the pyramid i.e. Hasan. Different expectations to advocate for that persons values should fall in part based on where on that spectrum people reside in with people at the top end having more expectations placed upon them.
A less analytical but perhaps more telling version is at
https://youtu.be/tYYE76D7B0U?t=252 In this clip Destiny describes a paradigm that it is "hilarious" to criticize Jeff Bezos hyperbolically as bad while partnering with him to produce content. The terms "hilarious" and "funny" are used very often instead of words like "bad" or "hypocritical," which I think is a "humorous" observation.
This is one of several iterations of Destiny describing Hasan's house purchase as a wealthy socialist as "funny"
https://youtu.be/tYYE76D7B0U?t=452 and "funny" again here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ulBkFt3nI8 These are two examples, but they are generally reflective of the language Destiny usually uses. Intelligent DGGR's languishing in the low of solipsism this Friday night may wonder why the words "funny" and "hilarious" might be used instead of "bad." It seems that "badness" is being heavily inferred, but not directly stated. Even in the more analytical take above, it's somewhat unclear if there is some sense of "moral obligation," implied or why exactly it would be applied to socialists. One could infer that one has a moral obligation to do "x amount of something," to cause there ideal world to exist or some policy to "happen," and if a person has x level of wealth, power, or influence and they don't do something to produce their ideal world or policy prescriptions they are doing something unethical.
The back and forth on this discourse has been had innumerable number of times, but since it's resurfaced, I believe for the exoneration of Hasan at least in this small regard, it is worth going over again.
So let's get the obvious points out of the way. Being socialist and being rich isn't a hypacricy. To make this argument, I need to make a couple of assumptions and build a couple key arguments.
1.) That Hasan would say he's a rule utilitarian (I think he's even said as much). Why do I make this assumption? Because everyone who isn't a cringe philosophy major whose been on this side of the internet is some sort of rule utilitarian. It's hard to be something else. Basically, that means you are concerned with the good outcomes of society but you understand rules need to exist in normal life because it's hard to see what the consequences of something might be and allowing too much discretion may be bad in aggregate. People need some basic rules. To see what happens when one is forced to guess too many consequences you can end up with a situation featured in the excellent television series The Good Place wherein characters are constantly performing evil actions inadvertently because they can't anticipate that driving the speed limit might have caused the person behind them to be late for a job interview which led to that person becoming impoverished, homeless, and die an early death of exposure.
2.) That Hasan (if pressed) would agree that capitalism isn't """"""inherently unethical,"""" but rather just produces worse outcomes than socialism. In other words it's just a spectrum of bad to ok to better outcomes. For reference this is the Vaush position. If pressed on the "no unethical consumption" meme, the answer is that bad outcomes might necessarily happen under any system. The goal is just to mitigate them with socialist policies that produce "more good points" and "fewer bad points." The phrase "inherintly unethical" is a phrase that ends up doing a lot of legwork in debates, but doesn't really make a meaningful statement when applied in this context. To draw a comparison, I could believe that any prison system will involve treatment of prisoners that I believe is unethical. However, I consider it a net good compared to no prison system (thus my participation funding society it is justified). I can also believe we should have a better prison system or a very different one. It's not inconsistent.
If all of 2 is granted (a big if for maximum salience DGGR's), I don't think it's fair to criticize Hasan on the grounds of involving himself in capitalism to a high extent. The more apt argument might be the one Ahrelavant goes for with Vowsh here.
https://youtu.be/LUvqIX8w_QA?t=537 This is more similar to Destiny's argument i.e. an obligation to "walk" rather than just "talk" given you have certain values. I think Vaush responds correctly. Hasan's job is as a political pundit. The talk is the walk. Advocating for socialism makes people more progressive. People who are more progressive vote more left leaning. That's a positive change in society in line with Hasan's values. Destiny's response to something like this argument is that all of that benefits Hasan personally, but I fail to see how this is relevant.
If one is outcome focused primarily why is the personal reason someone is doing something that relevant to the effectiveness of what they are doing or in any other way? If pressed, I don't think Destiny would say even a tiny fraction of actions are really altruistic in nature. Hasan is an entertainer who does some socialism. I fail to see what the problem with that is. It's the basic blueprint for almost all political or commentary content. The primary job is entertainment but advocating/ arguing for what you believe in is still important. All of the same arguments could be levied at nearly every content creator who believes strongly in anything. One could make criticisms of Chud Logic for having strong beliefs (which he has argued for in the past between the drama) but not going out every weekend to volunteer and fix them. Socialism doesn't have unique issues in this regard. "It's funny" isn't a good argument. Neither is "it's hilarious."
But what about Destiny's key defeater argument? "What is the difference between a capitalist and a socialist?" How can you tell a difference? To this, I'm not sure I entirely follow. Technically savvy and economically minded DGGr's can correct me, but capitalism is a very broad term that describes a set of government policies that structure an economy in a certain way. Socialism is a different set of government policies that structure an economy in a different way. Neither of these are real technical terms, and the exact manifestations/ definitions of each are as many as there are capitalists and socialists. In general the idea of socialism is that "workers own the means of production," which could mean a lot of things like
1.) All or most industries are nationalized in some way.
2.) All of the businesses are worker co-ops
3.) Some weird giant social wealth fund thing
The best understanding in my view is that if an economy has more nationalization of its industries and state control over personal wealth, it's more socialist. When private entities have more control over different industries, and there is less state control over personal wealth (lower taxes), that's more capitalist. With that understanding you can have mixed economies. Online socialists don't seem to like this, but it's the only actual definition that makes any sense and was provided by Dr. Edward Stewart in one of those great courses audio lectures I got on audible.
https://www.audible.com/pd/Capitalism-vs-Socialism-Comparing-Economic-Systems-Audiobook/B07BHVY5YZ I'm not sure why there would ever need to be a personal difference in behavior between a capitalist vs. Socialist when both things describe a set of beliefs about government policies? How does that make any sense at all? Capitalism isn't a personal set of actions and neither is socialism. If you want to define a capitalist the way Karl Marx did, just know that no one uses the term that way and when someone says they are a capitalist that's not what they mean. Presumably a socialist and a capitalist would vote for different candidates or argue for different policies.
To wrap this up, I think the criticisms levied at Hasan about his wealth or level of engagement with politics are unfair. I don't think political pundits have an obligation to do something extra. Being an entertaining political pundit is their job. I fail to see what's wrong with that or what is unique about Hasan that merits him having extra obligations from other similarly positioned pundits.
One parting thought is that people often give progressives a difficult time on a meta level i.e. "shouting or being radical might turn others off to your cause." Personally, I hate these sorts of arguments as they doge the facts of the matter in favor for a copy pasted lazy proxy of an argument. I hate progressives as much as the next person, but I don't think you can say they are ineffective. The fact is being loud, obnoxious, unlikeable, and working to de-platform every other point of view does kind of work. Society has gotten significantly more progressive on almost all fronts, and the GOP is in shambles. This might have horrible long term consequences for our democracy, but I'm not sure "effectiveness" is the right argument to make. You might just have a different direction you want society to go in based on different values. So one might wonder if Hasan is more "effective" than we like to admit and not hypocritical. He maybe just has bad beliefs, like other radical progressives.

Oh hiiiiii Vera cut shit let's look at Vera Misham wiki page
hair color: periwrinkle what the fuck is that
THE DOOR IS OPEN. THE WORLD IS WAITING. THANK YOU. -either vera misham or ted tonate
Vera Misham is the most relatable character because she copies stuff. In like 2020-2021 I loved to transcribe russian texts from old articles or books to my notes app because the image detection on google translate sucks. That was a fun pastime I loved the sense of progress and even had some whole articles finished. I planned on posting the texts somewhere after I finished some more because they were all about the same person but APPARENTLY NOT. 2022 onwards I began to draw more because I became a gamer so this is like Vera at the end saying she'll draw her own stuff instead of copy because transcribing things and piracy are evil
wait scrolling back on the wiki page I forgot to say that her theme slaps I thought it was the most remarkable AJ theme when I played it. It sounds very unique, and in general I'm a big fan of melancholic-sounding songs that have high-pitched or remarkable parts, or just slap in general idk how to explain it. This reminds me somewhat of the Dank Depths theme for Binding of Isaac Antibirth, really one of my favorite themes since I first heard it I need to remind everyone of that everytime
She bits her nails i do that too. My cat also does that also. She has that weird nail polish hand design that I don't like. She doesn't have a sprite showing her doing her nails, only the nail polish image is shown so I was confused everytime it happened. This is especially weird since AJ has so many other complex animations so that one wouldn't be complicated to do. Horace Knightley's gun twirling sprite should've been replaced by just his idle one but with the gun evidence image agressively twitching on the corner
Vera looks cute. She's pretty etc also it's funny how her pants are just a little longer than Simon's, yet hers are very cool-looking while Simon's are nightmare tier length. I love them equally regardless. She had a mickey mouse sketchbook that does not look very practical
Drew being poisoned and then accidentally leaving marks on the cup thereby framing Vera was clever I think. Vera dying or not depending on the jury vote was DUMB
She's occasionally shipped with Wocky I don't really know why. Nonsensical ship Ace Attorney should be banned on all countries

2023.03.25 01:46 Low-Rule-7995 Hells Kitchen 4th Place Season: 11th Elimination!
Chef Gordon Ramsay welcomed his final 10 for another day of Hells Kitchen and said that while he was happy with the final 10 he had expected more from them so far and wanted his best challenge and service yet. He excitedly announced that the next challenge would be on Japanese cuisine which worried some of the chefs who were not familiar with Japanese food. He said that 1 chef of each team would make a chicken dish, a tuna dish, a wagyu beef dish, a salmon dish and a pork dish. The red team was keen to continue the momentum from the last 2 services and challenge while there was alot more tension in the blue team. First up was the battle of the chicken and Tennile’s dish earned 7 points out of 10 while Rochelle got 6 out of 10. The blue team continued their lead when Barbie scored 7 on tuna while Jennifer only got 4 but the red team fought back to tie as Brynn only got 5 out of 10 for her wagyu beef and Cyndi scored 9 with the best dish so far. The red team took the lead as Milly only scored 4 with his salmon and Cody scored 7, giving the red team a 3 point lead. Motto was worried about his experience with Japanese cuisine but scored an impressive 9 with his pork dish meaning Sommer needed 7 to win but she only scored 4 for her confused dish.
To add insult to injury the blue team got to spend the night in Vegas and celebrated their victory while the red team bemoaned their loss with Jennifer and Sommer devastated at their fails but Cyndi said they had to up their game for dinner service. The blue team were united again and with Barbie and Motto on appetisers they looked for a big start but Motto sent up a crunch risotto due to cooking in mid air too often however he quickly bounced back only for Barbie to send up undercooked pasta on the next ticket. The problems continued early on as Brynn sent up burnt scallops and Chef Ramsay told her she should know how to cook “fucking scallops by now” Barbie then sent up 1 beef tartare rather than 2 as the service continued to be painful before Ramsay demanded it’s time for appetisers and entrees at the same time like a normal kitchen.
Milly on meat started out with perfect wellingtons and chicken but Tennile got confused on a further order and called out the next ticket before sending up spinach with too much garlic and Chef Ramsay said the service was painful at this point. Brynn on fish then struggled to communicate with Tennile and Milly as Tennile called for 2 seabass on the next ticket when it was actually 1 seabass and 1 halibut which sent the kitchen further back. This led to an argument between the whole blue team which caused Ramsay to call the whole team into the pantry to tell them that he cannot take anymore obstacles during service which saw them get it together for the next few tickets. However, Barbie got confused on orders again and after being informed it was 2 carbonara she got behind on the rest of the team and with the rest of the food dying in the window it was sent up undercooked. Chef Ramsay had had enough at this point and kicked Barbie out of the kitchen asking who’s next? After getting behind on an order of wellingtons, Tennile sent up lumpy mash potato and was also kicked out of the kitchen by Ramsay who said he didn’t care if the whole team left tonight. Motto took over the garnish while Milly continued to have a great service on meat sending up perfect veal and pork but Brynn sent up raw seabass and tearfully blamed Motto for not giving proper times but Ramsay told her to get out as well. Milly and Motto combined to finish the last few tickets but Chef Ramsay said that was 1 of the most painful services of all time.
The red team had a better start with Sommer and Rochelle on appetisers but after the 1st few tickets were sent out with no problems, Jennifer managed to undercook scallops. On a further ticket Sommer gave Chef Ramsay a bland risotto but they did bounce back again. Onto entrees and there was instantly problems as Cyndi failed to communicate properly with Cody on garnish and served 1 veal 1 wellington when there was 2 veal on order and she sent up a further order of veal that was undercooked. Ramsay told Cyndi to wake up but after an initial bounce back, Jennifer served raw halibut for the next table which was “still fucking swimming” according to Chef Ramsay. After telling Jennifer to get her shit together, Jennifer sent up halibut that was “STILL FUCKING RAWWWW!!!” and they had to restart the table again. They did manage to get it together for the next few tickets but after Cyndi got overwhelmed on the high meat orders this caused a ripple effect which sent Cody behind as well as he had to redo all his garnish. On a further ticket Cyndi sent up raw NY strip and after asking for help from Sommer, on the next order and dragging on the ticket the meat came up but Cody sent up burnt spinach which he blamed on all the other shit happening in the kitchen. Chef Ramsay called the red team “a bunch of fucking losers” and said they were on the verge of being kicked out. Sommer and Cyndi did seem to have worked together but they sent up overcooked NY strip which Cyndi said was Sommer’s fault, leading to an argument in the kitchen until they were told to “shut the fuck up” by Ramsay. After Cyndi and Jennifer stopped talking, Cyndi sent up raw veal which caused Chef Ramsay to kick Cyndi, Jennifer and Sommer out the kitchen, saying this was the worst service he had ever seen. Cody. Rochelle and Chef Christina finished the tickets but Ramsay said he needed 10 minutes after those awful services and demanded that both teams nominate 2 "fucking idiots" for elimination.
The blue team were divided on who to nominate as Barbie, Tennile and Brynn all had awful services but Milly and Motto agreed that Barbie had been lucky to not be nominated so far so said she was the 1st nominee. Barbie was furious and said this was a tactical vote and that Brynn can't cook fish while Tennile can't lead for shit. Motto said he wanted Brynn as the 2nd nominee and he said he hoped 1 of the blue team left as he'd had enough of shit services. Cody and Rochelle decided that Cyndi was the 1st nominee for her atrocious service but when Cody said Jennifer was the 2nd nominee this caused Jennifer to go mad, telling Cody he had skated by service and that Sommer proved tonight she couldn't cook or lead and that there was no way she was going up. When Rochelle said she agreed, Jennifer said "FUCK YOU" and again claimed she wasn't going up and that Sommer should go up instead of her as she was an average cook. Sommer and Jennifer had a huge argument which ended with Jennifer storming off and booting a chair over.
After all that drama Barbie, Brynn, Cyndi and Jennifer were all called forward and after passionate pleas from all 4 of them, Chef Ramsay told Jennifer and Barbie to get back in line and eliminated Cyndi for sinking the red team with her performance on meat. However, Chef Ramsay wasn't done and said "Brynn...I told you that you had 1 more chance and i'm a man of my word. Take your jacket off and leave hells kitchen" stunning the chefs with the double elimination. The rest of the chefs realised the games were over and it was 8 left.

2023.03.25 01:35 NoNeedleworker5437 Mindset for BJJ, especially those struggling or for older chaps.
Long time lurker, decided to share my recent experience with BJJ in the hope that it’ll resonate with others at all levels, especially those struggling for motivation or having the blues:
I joined a GB academy in my home town when I was 34, at the time I had a very busy job so found it hard to get motivated, although I loved open mat. I got all the way up to the lofty heights of three stripe white belt before I decided that I had to focus on my work, so BJJ went to the wayside and I eventually left GB.
Fast forward six years, by which time I’d completed a part time degree, wasn’t exercising, was using alcohol to deal with stress, finally I worked so hard that I burned myself out and in 2022, I had a mental breakdown. I had reached 40 years old and was at rock bottom, I can honestly say this was 100% the absolute worst point in my life so far.
Over the next couple of months my partner, my therapist and my doctor all indirectly saved my life. I was fortunate that I could move to a less stressful role that was 9 to 5. After a lot of work on myself, my therapist recommended that I try exercise to get my motivation and focus back. I hate the gym, I hate running, I like swimming but it’s a solitary activity & I yearned a social connection while training.
BJJ came back into my life!
I joined a small independent club rather than returning to GB. The head coach is ex military, but is an unassuming, friendly and patient man. Being a bit older and having a few ingrained bad habits, plus some of my old “work is more important” mindset, I would turn up for the beginner classes but find reasons not to stay for extra classes or to roll afterwards.
What’s great about the coach is that he likes to push people just a little outside their comfort zone in every class. He does this in a subtle and understated way, you barely notice it’s happening. It’s just enough to scare you but not so much that you are intimidated or scared off.
He said two things that I want to share in particular: First, during a class he was teaching a technique which involved intent, something you had to either commit to or fail at, he said, “If you do things half assed, you’ll get half assed results”. This resonated with me on a professional level as that’s the attitude I have always had towards work. I had never thought about BJJ in this light before.
Secondly, a week later he talked about his own personally journey and how he decided early on that BJJ was “for him” and that he knew he would become a black belt. He said, “commit ten years and you can be a black belt too, you’re going to be somewhere in ten years, you might as well be there”. Reflecting on my previous ten years I realised I had made a soulless choice by focusing on my work. I had nothing to show for it but a shattered mind. It was like a switch flipped in my head and I made a mental decision there and then, “I am going to give BJJ 110%”.
Almost a year on from the worst point in my life, I am training 5 days a week in BJJ and loving every second of it. The harder I focus on my training, the more I seem to get back in return. I am happier, less stressed and more balanced than I’ve ever been in my life. I feel connected to my teammates and my club is a healthy, positive environment. So if you’re having doubts, struggling, have hit a plateau in your training; here’s some advice from my coach, “Don’t think about it, just fucking send it, give it your all”. Oss.

2023.03.25 01:20 Pinkys-Up Started service based business LLC in Texas and moved to Georgia last year - Dissolve and restart or?
Hello! I believe I’m just confusing myself more trying to Google this on my own, so any feedback would be appreciated!
I started a service based business in Texas and formed an LLC, I moved to Georgia in early 2022 but I was still commuting back and forth to finish projects in Texas.
I’m currently taking on work in Georgia as well and I’m worried I fumbled on re-filing everything properly and keep overthinking the next steps.
From what I have read, I should dissolve the Texas LLC and then refile the business in Georgia, but would there be any reason to do a DBA instead and keep the Texas LLC active? Am I facing any fines or fees for not filing sooner in Georgia? Am I okay to still file my 2022 taxes as normal with my Texas LLC?

2023.03.25 01:03 MixFuzzy8919 Award start date dispute?
Hi all
Would appreciate some advice whether or not to dispute a decision made by UC to not backdate the LCWRA award start date.
For context, I had a telephone WCA in July 2021. In Oct 2021, I was informed of being fit to work. I developed a new condition late Novembeearly December. I did not declare a change in health circumstance but I made my work coach(es) aware of this and continued to provide sick notes. One sick note was rejected after the WCA but all others that followed were accepted.
21 Jan 2022 - Fit notes accepted up until award date from this date. Fast forward to Sept 2022 - I was informed that a UC50 is on its way (assessment process triggered again). Nov 2022 - I was informed they have received my UC50 Jan 2023 - I had my face to face assessment Feb 2023 - Awarded LCWRA.
As the element was not included in two past statements, I queried this and was informed of the following:
In October 2021, a work capability decision was made, and you were found capable for work. You were told at that time that you should not report any more fit notes, unless you were to have a new, or worsened condition, in which case, you should have reported a change of circumstances, to update your health condition. As you did not report a new/worsened health condition after you were found capable of work, the fit notes that you provided, cannot be used to reassess your work capability, and we can only start the LCWRA decision from the date of your work capability assessment
Is it worth disputing this? The change in circumstance was verbally expressed to work coaches at the time and my fit notes were accepted in light of this. If there was no change surely they wouldn’t accept my fit notes and would push for me to declare a change? I'm not even fussed about any backpay but receiving the element ASAP as it now means my relevant period commences from the 26th of January... (AP 19th to 18th of every month).
Thank you very much in advance for your response(s).

2023.03.25 00:52 Adams1005 What is life? Quitting Weed&Cig for 3 months (LONG POST)
Hi Everyone, I have permanently quit smoking weed for 3 months now and would like to share my story with all of you - hopefully, it sheds some light on people who are having withdrawal symptoms and anxiety.
I started smoking cig when I was 18 - can't remember how much I smoked; approximately a pack/week and definitely in beast mode if I was drunk lol... started smoking weed in 2016 and had about 5 years of it and simultaneously reduced my cig consumption with weed.
The first quit was at the end of Dec 2020, with no withdrawal symptoms at all (I think it was the mindset - people say you are invincible if you don't care). In Dec 2021 I heavily smoked for a month (1/2g daily) as I was stressed about landing a job during the pandemic. Quit on Dec 31 2021 and had covid in June 2022 - it was really bad for me as I started to have a weird smell when I cough and I cough out green/brown mucus. After that, I was easily getting a sore throat and it eventually went away. I was sober for 11 months until Dec last year when I smoked 2 grams during my vacation in Jamaica - really can't say no to lovely Jamaicans who sell Ganja on Kayaks (And their food are so spicy omg). Right now I am at 3 months and 25 days after my last joint, currently experiencing some symptoms - tight chest in certain positions (i.e. push-ups), cough of green/brown mucus after running and anxiety.
I have read many posts and done quite a lot of research about symptoms and potential risks. I conclude the following:
(1) Anxiety - this leads to the factor of well-being and Quality of Life (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quality_of_life). You must understand the fact that as a former smoker, your risk of getting lung cancer is 15-30x higher than non-smokers - just admit it; you enjoyed the privilege of the effect of weed/cig and here is the trade-off. DON'T BE AFRAID - we are all in the same boat as we will die sometime in this life. Once you have that in mind, you are invincible. However, I understand lots of you have been struggling with that and here are some tips: (i) Exercise - I challenge all of you who decide to quit and run 5km/day (if you can't do it then 5km/ 2 days). Feel Pain? just walk it off. (ii) Learn more knowledge - the more you learn, the less you don't know; The less you don't know, the less you are afraid of. I know it takes a long time to do it, but it works(at least for me). (iii) Talk to people, your friends, your families, or even a stranger. You will get a lot of relief from this.
(2) Cough - like I said - I cough out scary shit lol... The cough will last a long time after quitting smoking and trust me, it is good for you. People on the internet saying "oh, I never cough black tar and I have smoked 40 years" must be current smokers. Why? Think about how much smoke is stuck in your lungs and cilia are trying to work their way out of cleaning those smokes - every time they try to work, new smoke came in and makes it stickier on your lung's inner surface. Don't believe in the tar? Just look at the bong you use and how sticky it is. If you still don't believe it then tell me where did the smoke go? Anyway, almost 4 months now I am still coughing green and brown mucus after running - it will go away eventually. The time of the process depends on how long/much you smoke.
How to clean those tar? lots of ways: (i) Drink WATER - I drink 2L/day (180Lbs, 5'11'', 30) and with half a lemon every second day. Please note that do not add too much lemon as it will destroy your teeth. Water helps your body recover from any type of inflammation - doesn't matter if it is bacterial/viral - you pee them out. (ii)Exercise: I challenge all of you who decide to quit smoking - to run 5 km/day (if you can't - just run every second day). If you can't finish - walk it off. You can break it down into several sets (each km). I found that running outside is better than in the GYM - fresh air is important for your lungs. I even run in winter, I live in Toronto which is harsh during winter. Remember to warm up to avoid injury (iii) Humidifier: I don't use this - I believe (i) + (ii) is enough. I also hit the gym to do weights - stretch is important.
(3) Eat healthily - Please avoid sugar (low carb) and fried food and this will help you recover faster.
In general, I have been so much better and more confident in life. However, If you asked me will I do the same if I had a chance to choose smoking or not when I was young - Yes, I will still smoke in my early 20s. Life is about exploring, but you need to know when to stop. There is no regret in life and REMEMBER: We need time to build habits.
I will keep updating this in 3 months (6 months after quitting) to see the results. In the meantime, good luck to yall on recovery, god bless you and I love you all.

2023.03.25 00:38 Little_sunflower5055 I failed my physical fitness test... again
TW. SA and PTSD
Hi,
I go to a university in which physical fitness is very well seen. We have to meet a certain standard in bilingualism, fitness and our grades in order to graduate. The test that they make us do is made so that if you pass, you are considered to be in the top 5% of your sex in the country or something.
I know I can do it, that I can pass it. I passed it in the fall semester of 2021. However, I lived multiple accounts of sexual assaults and rape at my university and I ended up developping a PTSD(yes I am diagnosed). During the winter semester I lost almost 7kilos (a bit more than15 pounds). I failed the fitness test for the winter semester. I got to change university as there are two of them in the special program in which I am part of. I now live 6h (600km or 373miles) from my hometown. I have been building my fitness up through the year, but it has been tough. I have been getting up early every morning to go to the gym and I have been attending supplementary workouts (it is mandatory if you don't pass the physical fitness test). In the fall semester of 2022, I was hoping I would pass it or at least get to do the retest. I did not. So I continued working out, having mental health support and doing my best.
Today, I had my test. I was confident and so was everyone around me. I have been gaining muscle again and I am doing so much better than before. I was listening to music while getting to the gym to pump myself up and everything felt good. I ended up passing two tests out of the five that I had today. I was able to score high enough on another one to be elligable for the retest, but the two last components went horribly. I ended up crying before my last test because I knew I wasn't going to get the retest. It was that bad. After I was done I went to cry in the washroom for probably an hour.
To graduate from my university you only have to pass it once, so I will still be able to get my diploma. However, I have so many opportunities that I will not be able to get. Student exchanges all over the world, being part of the rowing team, getting to mentor the new students next year... Only those who excel in the three requirements that I mentioned at the top can do these things.
Sorry for the mistakes, English is not my first language and thank you for reading.

2023.03.25 00:33 No_Juggernaut3934 Help with personal injury case
Hi all, I was severely injured in a car accident in April 2022. I signed up with one of those highly-advertised firms to handle settlement and medical bills. Little did I know it would turn into a bigger hellscape than the car accident itself.
During negotiations with the firm, my attorney stated multiple times that this case was “definitely worth more than this settlement amount” but strongly urged me to settle and accept the offer against my better judgement. I now believe this stems from an overall lack of diligence, urgency, and care paid to my case and desire to close the case rather than put in additional research or effort to reach a satisfying result. It has been clear now that this was a case intended to quickly settle and be done with. I had a 2 inch diameter concussion and subsequent dent on my head that I can still feel to this day. I sustained extensive bruising and injuries to my neck, arms, shoulder, both legs and knees. I was hardly able to walk for many months due to shooting pain in my knees. I hired this firm to protect me during this recovery process. I consulted with a few other firms after the fact and they said it was nuts that this attorney didn't file a lawsuit for an offer of $35,000 on $19,000 in medical bills.
On top of that, I have spent at least a dozen hours at the request of this firm, during my workday, tracing down providers and insurance representatives, something I specifically hired this firm to do. The paralegal stated in our last interaction over the phone that I “did not have health insurance” last year which I have been paying for and provided upon signing with this firm and she had on record. My attorney later said she ‘misspoke.’ When I was on hold with an health insurance representative as she phoned my physical therapy office, they told the agent that they had been ‘billing a different insurance company.’ Did anyone from this firm cross check information for accuracy? As for radiology, they also sent billing to an incorrect insurance company. The account is now on hold for the next 30-45 days to re-process and has avoided falling into collections due to my follow up. My health insurance had no record whatsoever of this claim or billing from these providers. Did this firm even reach out to them? Meanwhile a majority of bills from this case have been in collections, causing me immense emotional distress as I received notice after notice in the mail while being left in the dark and given indefinite timelines. I found out this morning another provider had been in collections when the firm told me the account had been paid.
I had to personally bring all this to the attention of providers and insurance and present relevant information to facilitate these claims. I finished treatment well back in May 2022. I never received detailed and itemized ledgers of claims, dates of service, or regular updates. The managing partner recently said they would knock off 25% from attorney's fees; I am still beyond furious. They have been god awful to me during the entire process and are now saying I should file a bar complaint and they will put into a trust for an even LONGER amount of time before anything resolves.
TLDR: My attorney fucked me over, what do I do - I live in Washington State in King County.

2023.03.25 00:30 venkattr Chennai and the Sunrise!
Was going through yet another sleepless night and I thought why not share one of the most beautiful things which I used to like about Chennai.
Between 2018 and 2021 (sometimes in 2022) I usually never miss a weekly sunrise at either Thiruvanmiyur or ECR beach. I'd ride more than 30 kms (it's more like 19, but I had to pick someone up, so.. ) one way to get there. Usually I'd start way early like 3:40 or 4AM and pit stop at the only tea shop that would be functioning at the time near DLF past GK theater (Porur) to have coffee with vada (NGL, I didn't realise I would love vada + coffee combo that much). Around 5AM I would've reached the beach, most of the time there would be very few people to no one.
You won't be able to see the sea water sometimes, it will be that dark but the sound of the waves, the breeze, the humidity you get, the cold all of them together will make you feel something different. That feel or peace would be a much needed one post a work heavy week. After sometime people would start to come to enjoy the glory, by which time I would put on my headphones with some good music to go with it.
Slowly clouds would show change in colors. Man of the hour would pop up behind the waters. In like 10 mins or so, with the cold, you will start feeling a slight (I mean the slightest) warmth. Man that sun, reflections bouncing through the waves, golden clouds, chill with the slightest of warmth, humid air and music all at the same time. The moment will be like you would actually want time to stop and frozen like that for quite a while.
I came to Chennai because of my career and nobody told me about sunrises. One fine day, post late night work I went to the beach and figured it out myself. People usually say they wanna go to the beach, but not for sunrise nor even have that as an option. And I really don't see people talking about that even now. It is one of the best things (if not the best) Chennai has ever got naturally, probably the most underrated one.
If you guys have never experienced this, I would highly suggest you all to do it at least once.
PS: I mentioned "I used to like" the reason is, it became too personal to the point where the last time I went to a beach was on July 25th last year, because the extra miles I used to do was to pick up that one person to experience the sunrise along, who is not with me anymore. But for what's worth I've collected a lot of memories.
It was a one a kind experience I got in Chennai and I will never forget!
