2023.06.02 16:46 t-bands I spent 200 hours building a tool that creates faster and more efficient routes than Google Maps
Not sure why Google Maps doesn't have this already.
I'm building a
mobile app (like this chrome
extension I built) that takes my multi-stop route on Google Maps and rearranges it to give the fastest, most efficient route (
TSP Problem). It basically tells me what stops I should go to in what order to ensure that I’m spending the least amount of
time and
gas on the road.
With over 13k users on the extension, everyone has been telling me to build this into an app so I plan on launching this summer, please let me know what features you would like to see! You can join the waitlist here:

2023.05.27 17:33 nutmegryder Touch of Grey (Dallas) - Senior PGA Tour
This week, the senior PGA Tour is taking place in Frisco, TX, just up the road from Dallas. Last night at the show, my friends and I got to wondering, “Do you think any of the pro golfers are here tonight?”
Each sport always has a few. The NBA has Bill Walton and a few others.
Are there any pro golfers out there who let their freak flag fly?

| Went in to the same store where I told my wife to return the 4 burner Napoleon because it was going to make me sad tossing out my 7 burner (beat to hell) Nexgrill, thinking I would be buying a larger Napoleon, but walked out with this. I got moved off the Napoleon because I couldn’t buy one on the cart that could be dropped in to a built-in once we fully take the plunge on an outdoor kitchen in a few years. Guy said Blaze was a step up and it can be taken off the cart when that glorious day comes. The Napoleon I wanted would have come out to about $700 less and I would have been trying to sell it on the secondary market, so that $2,700 maybe gets me $1,350. If this grill is the grill I think it is though, I’ve bought my grill for the next decade+ that’ll be cooking those steaks that are prepped outside on the outdoor island with a frosty beer from the outdoor fridge. submitted by NachoTaco832 to grilling [link] [comments] |
2023.05.18 16:58 troublepiggins I'm(33M) getting ready to travel from central FL › SLC on a 2009 KLR650. Looking for advice/words of wisdom from those who have done it.
"troublepiggins" (@:
[email protected] ) (Instagram:
www.instagram.com/troublepiggins ) (Reddit:
www.reddit.comtroublepiggins ) (TikTok:
www.tiktok.com/@troublepiggins )
I posted in this group a little while ago with a different Reddit account before I decided to create a unified social media handle. I'd like to journal my experiences on Reddit and have it all located under this account, but I also don't want to delete the original post because it has some great information that I believe is beneficial for others. That being said, I would like to carry-over a lot of the same ideas into this post and re-discuss new ideas.
I have decided to ride my KLR650, Piggins, back to Utah where my van is currently located (The van's name is Marvan if anyone out there is wondering.) I'm not sure if this is one of the best ideas I've ever had or if I'm having a life crisis but it is happening.... at least as far as I can make it. It is an intimidating amount of miles and I'm admittedly a bit nervous. I have ridden mostly in the Florida Keys around traffic flowing from 20-60mph with the exception of a couple of Miami trips around 85mph traffic and now a couple Daytona and Tampa trips. I rode on the interstates a bit on my most recent trips, sticking mainly to the right lane. Piggins was handling the high speeds(70-85mph) surprisingly well; even with an oversized windscreen (idk what I was thinking 🤦), a pair of saddlebags and gear stacked up on the rear. At one point I realized that Piggins was doing about 90 so I rolled off a bit. Traffic around me was moving to say the least. That being said, I don't think I could comfortably rock interstate all day long but depending on where and what's going on for traffic I wouldn't mind banging out some decent stretches to shrink time. Time is money, and in this instance I'm thinking lunch money. The quicker I can crush the non-scenic, bland stuff, the more time and money I can dedicate to enjoying the spice(Dune reference) of the journey....or money towards repairs. 😅
I originally was thinking that I would like to stick to 100mi increments for refueling, but I think upon reassessment, 180mi would be more than safe and would cut way back on my slow down/speed up times for the journey. I don't mind stopping in between to get off the bike, stretch, bathroom etc., the 180mi. is only to make sure I'm fuel-safe. I will not be bringing a reserve gas can with me, so I need to remain aware of how far I am from a gas pump and consider variable mpg. Q: KLR650 owners, How many miles do you get do a full tank?
I have decided to do some filming along the way so I plan on traveling mostly during the day. I like the idea of getting a routine going of waking up early, doing some tai chi/stretching and drinking some coffee before getting the day rolling (🏍️ pun intended). That all being said, I know I will find myself in some places where I will just want to cook through as quickly as I can in order to jet to the next intended destination. Ya ya ya, I know....the journey is also the destination, but I am worried about money, so if I can crank out some decent mileage on the boring stretches I'd love to, and in doing so cut back on expenses that come with traveling for longer. Q's: Where are there no sights to see? Where is just entirely not worth it that I will still have to travel through?
Route is outlined in pencil as follows: A • Summerfield FL • Gainesville FL • Ginnie Springs FL • Madison FL • Tallahassee FL • Panama City Beach FL • New Orleans LA • Lafayette LA

There is a temptation to try to knock out some of the Trans America Trail but I don't think I have the skills for a lot of it. Especially not when weighted down. Q: • Are there any stretches that would be easy to explore that align with my journey? • Where along my routes are there reasonable stretches to try to accomplish at night? / Where is there truly nothing worth seeing? • What would be a reasonable amount for me to estimate I'll cover in a day? • I prefer to hammock camp but it seems like that is going to be a solid no-go for the most part in TX judging off of Google Maps. Am I wrong there • I was originally planning on refueling about every 100mi. I'm a little more comfortable stretching it to 180mi instead to cut down on my slow down/speed up times over the duration of the journey. For those that have KLR650s and have run them dry, what did you get mile-wise out of a full tank?
I had intended on leaving around May 14th-16th but have postponed that briefly to spend some more time with my dog who is starting to approach the rainbow bridge. It is looking like I will now be departing on either the 20th/21st or on the 26th/27th.
Bring list: • Riding gear (helmet, gloves, boots) • Paperwork (registration, insurance, license) • Wallet • Phone/chargecable • Towel (don't forget to bring a towel) • Sandals, • Camelback • Clothes • Pen/pencil/paper • Camera/charging cable/case • Shower kit (toothbrush/toothpaste, shower pouf/soap) • Medical kit (pain reducers, allergy meds, Pepto/Imodium, band aids, Neosporin, tourniquet, sewing needle/thread, gauze, wrapping tape) • Hammock/straps • Tarp/paracord/stakes • 2p Tent • Bug spray Q's: • Can anyone in the areas I am driving through let me know what is typical for weather around this time of year? I have Frogtoggs but not waterproof boots. • What would be some must haves in your pack for this trip? • I don't mind packing light clothing-wise but what's unreasonably light?) • Is a sleeping bag necessary? • Is a 2 person tent actually big enough for 2 people? I may be riding 2up after Denver. Usually I would scoop a 2p for myself alone.
I want to save money by bringing food but am not sure it's worth the trade off for occupying space. It would require me to bring a jet boil type of system, fuel, a pot and utensils. I mostly just want to save money on coffee in the mornings but would obviously carry more food with me to take advantage of a set-up if I had it with me. Q'S • Has anyone regretted bringing their cooking set-up? • Maybe cold, instant coffee would be the move instead?
I plan on taking photos and short videos along the way but would like to livestream some of the ride. I believe my camera is capable of it as long as my phone can hit 4G. Q's: • Does anyone have any experience with livestreaming?/Will TikTok be a viable way do it?
I'm pretty sure that I'll need to replace at least the rear tire about halfway through my journey. Recently bought a new pair before I left the Keys but I know rears burn through a bit quicker. I am riding on Shinko e705s. Which leads us into a discussion about tool kit/maintenance.
Repair kit • Klymer manual • Chain lubricant • 2x Clutch cables • Replacement clutch lever • Extra tubes • Tiire spoons/lubricant • 3,4,5,6,mm hex keys • Pliers • Duct tape, • Zip ties • WD-40 • 6,8,10,12,14,26mm sockets, • Breaker bar • Electrical kit (fuses, electrical wire, multimeter, connecting pieces, heat shrink tubing, scissors/wire strippers Q's: • Being that I don't have much money, how necessary is a battery jumper? • How do the CO2 tire chargers work? • Can I get by with a bicycle pump? • Anything crucial I'm slipping on?
Thank you for taking the time to read this post I greatly look forward to reading what y'all have to offer in the way of advice and knowledge. Wish me luck and ride safe out there, y'all!
Peace, love & Piggins ✌️💓🐽

2023.05.11 20:23 boutell New US CCS chargers report for April 2023
Here are all of the new US CCS (Level 3 fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April 2023, according to the Department of Energy. These chargers are suitable for most new EVs on the market, except for:
- Tesla drivers who haven't bought the official CCS adapter yet. Certain older Teslas need additional work done to accept the adapter.
- Leaf owners like me, and some owners of older cars that also use CHAdeMO. If you drive a Leaf, or an older CHAdeMO car, see my matching post in leaf.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
There were
171 CCS charge points added or refreshed in April 2023, which is up from 159 in March. For comparison, there were only 100 new CCS charge points in April 2022. Things are speeding up.
"What about CCS charging at Tesla superchargers?" Tesla is in the process of rolling out their "magic dock" for non-Tesla cars in certain locations. I assume they will start to include this in their reporting to the Alternative Fuels Data Center soon. When they do it should be reflected here.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or just prefer not to check this list monthly when new openings are rare in your area, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications as soon as they open. You can
sign up at evpov.com. Or not! I don't really have a business plan here, I built it to help EV owners like myself.
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first, so that's why the post is shorter than in previous months.

I strolled into a nearby corner store and was thrilled to see Venom’s. Sadly, the Mango flavor isn’t sugar-free so I opted for Strawberry Apple. I was shocked by how good this beverage tasted, and the flavor lined up well with the description. And for only $1.57 after tax, what more can I ask for!! Some interesting results, there's quite a disparity between the top and bottom of the league. I've enjoyed keeping up with the league since they announced that it was coming to Birmingham, so I'm hoping that we keep seeing it grow. What do you guys think the league needs to do to get attendance up across the board?

2023.05.08 22:30 AuburnShuffle Squadron 11th in G League attendance in 2022-23
I was curious how Birmingham stacked up with the rest of the league attendance-wise, but unfortunately that information isn't collected anywhere... until now! I had to add up the individual game attendance on the G League website, which took a while, but I figured out how everyone in the league stacked up across everyone's 24 home games this year.
A few teams had games mistakenly listed with 0 fans, so it's possible a couple of these teams might be a spot off. I don't think the Squadron's attendance numbers were affected by this, and their position should be the same.

So there you have it. Looking at the list I feel... good but not great about where Birmingham sits? We are definitely in that third tier or so where the numbers aren't eye-popping, but with a ton of teams below us that are really struggling to bring in fans. (lol Memphis)
There are some encouraging signs though: attendance was pretty dismal for Squadron home games in the Showcase Cup, only averaging about 1700 fans for those 8 games. Birmingham averaged around 3,100 during the regular season, which is a sign that things may be improving. You can see in the list that had we averaged that number for the whole season, we would have landed 7th in the league.
Personally I see no reason that Birmingham shouldn't be around the top 5 in attendance every year. The city is big enough and doesn't have a pro basketball team to take away from the Squadron. Hopefully as the team gets more established in the city over the next few years we'll see attendance improve.

2023.05.07 15:21 boutell New US CHADeMO chargers in April 2023
Here are all of the new US CHAdeMO (Leaf fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
There were 112 "new" CHAdeMOs added in April. To put it in perspective, there were 171 CCS chargers added in April. I think the pace of CHAdeMO rollout has stabilized, while the pace of CCS rollout is still increasing. This makes sense given that only Nissan still makes a CHAdeMO car.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
We all know that CHAdeMO is a legacy format and will eventually go away, but clearly Nissan and their partners are continuing to support it for the time being. This shouldn't be surprising. After all, you can still buy a new Leaf.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or reading these monthly reports is just frustrating in your state, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications only when new stations actually open. You can
sign up at evpov.com. I built it to help EV owners like myself (especially my fellow Leaf owners). You can pick other plug types as well.
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first, so that's why the post is shorter than in previous months.

2023.05.06 17:49 t-bands I got tired of spending $80 on gas so I built a tool that finds a faster and more efficient route than Google Maps
2023.05.02 06:23 HuckleberrySecure791 Going over a few surgeons and I'd like to hear some honest opinions about them.
First time posting here after lurking for a while and doing my own research on various surgeons. I'm from the Houston area and plan on going to Dallas and Austin for in-person consults. I'm a bigger guy (wouldn't really say plus sized but I'm also not skinny, I'd say on the bigger side of mid-size), I'll go ahead and list my current pros and cons for each of them, but I'd like to hear y'all's feedback about them if you've got the experience. Listing from most preferred this far to least preferred.
Dr. Scott Harris (Plano, TX) Pros:
- In network
- Drain free
- Wide selection on portfolio
- Very descriptive about process on main web page
- Transparent about possibility of complications on main web page
- Fast scheduling time
- Also offers body-masculinization
Cons:
- honestly haven't seen anything I dislike about his work, I've only heard good things about him from my friends
- WPATH guidelines
Dr. Dany Hanna (Frisco, TX) Pros:
- Personalized surgery plans, shows patients pieces of portfolio similar to their body type/anatomy
- exclusively works with TGNB patients
- Good bedside manner
Cons:
- Out of network
- I've heard that he goes off of BMI restrictions which is kind've nasty, but I fall under his accepted BMI scale, still gross tho
- Description on web page is lacking
- WPATH guidelines
Dr. Dustin Reid (Austin, TX) Pros:
- Super descriptive about different types of top surgery, includes diagrams
- Transparent about lack of insurance coverage
- Good videos on his instagram showing the process of a double-incision top surgery from start to finish
- Informed consent for patients 18+!
Cons:
- Out of network
- Web page is a bit hard to navigate, gender affirming surgeries are clumped in with the other surgeries he offers
- Very high prices
Dr. Curtis Crane (Austin, TX) Pros:
Cons:
- He's my last resort, I haven't seen any pictures in his portfolio that have impressed me, I hate the scar shape and nipple placement he does
- Portfolio gallery is poorly organized
- I've heard bad things about the Crane Center regarding misgendering and using the dead-names of patients which is a HUGE turn off for me. The only reason I am even considering him is because I'll already be in town for my consult with Dr. Reid, and he takes my insurance coverage.

2023.05.01 01:08 lucidreamcatcher I(33M) am considering riding my 06 KLR650 from Ocala FL to Salt Lake City UT
EDIT: 09 KLR650
I am flying to Florida from SLC for an event and have two options to make it back. I can either catch a flight home or ride my KLR back. I'm admittedly a bit nervous because I have ridden mostly in the Florida Keys around traffic flowing from 20-60mph with the exception of a couple of Miami trips around 85mph traffic. The KLR is straining to keep up at 85mph and definitely not a comfortable ride at that speed. I would like to stick to ≈100mi increments for fuel, I don't mind stopping in between to get off the bike, stretch, bathroom etc. I don't plan on riding much at night. The trip would begin around May 14th to get an idea for weathetemperature. I may pick up my girlfriend from an airport along the way some point after May 20th.
I'm trying to get an idea from folks who have done it or heavily researched it, what should I estimate to be able to cover in a day?
I don't mind being dirty or doing laundry stops frequently to carry less clothing. What would be must haves in your pack for this trip? Helmets, gloves, boots, sandals, clothes(need some help here?), towel, wallet, insurance, phone/charger in a plastic bag, toothbrush/toothpaste, shower pouf/soap, pen/pencil/paper, tarp/paracord/stake/bag to fill with rocks if I can't use the stake---Trying to think of a way to set up a tarp off the side of the bike in case I need some shelter from rain. Sleeping bag necessary? Jet boil system, coffee drip, cup, utensils? Coffee, ramen, tunafish?
I would also like to invest in a helmet cam for safety but also for relatively HQ filming along the way. I was looking into an insta X3 with moto bundle but would like to find something a little more affordable even if it doesn't have 360° capabilities. Suggestions?
I also realize I will need to buy at the least, one rear tire about halfway through the journey. Recently bought a new pair before I left the Keys.
Maintenance wise I was going to bring a couple clutch cables, cable lube, chain lube, tire spoons, extra tubes, some various sockets. Pliers, duct tape, zip ties. Anything crucial I'm slipping on?
Possible route combinations:
A Summerfield FL Ocala FL Live Oak FL Tallahassee FL Panama City Beach FL Pensacola FL Pascagoula MS New Orleans LA Baton Rouge LA Lafayette LA Alexandria LA Shreveport LA Tyler TX Dallas TX
B1 Wichita Falls TX Childress TX Amarillo TX Clayton NM Springer NM Taos NM Trinidad CO Pueblo CO Colorado Springs CO Denver CO

A>B2>C3 would be more to visit a friend in Crested Butte. A>B2>C2 would be the most practical decision from what I can gather.
